- 0:03Speaker 1: this morning, Darryl Erickson. He is the general manager of
- 0:07Speaker 1: the West Side Menard's location. Daryl, how you doing this morning.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm doing great, Sean. Thank you for having me on.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 0:14Speaker 3: It's great to have you on again.
- 0:16Speaker 1: And it's always great because every time we've had you
- 0:18Speaker 1: on the program talking about some really good stuff for
- 0:20Speaker 1: the community. And obviously, now that we're into the summer months,
- 0:23Speaker 1: most kids have summer summers off, which means a very
- 0:27Speaker 1: valuable lifeline for them when it comes to food.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Isn't there anymore schools?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Obviously breakfast, lunch and other things, and food and security
- 0:35Speaker 1: becomes a bigger issue during the summer months. And one
- 0:38Speaker 1: of the really cool things that's going on at all
- 0:40Speaker 1: the Minards locations here in the area. You guys are
- 0:42Speaker 1: doing a food drive, aren't you, Daryl.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yes, we are at this location in the Madison market.
- 0:47Speaker 2: We're doing food drive through the end of July.
- 0:51Speaker 1: All fantastic. So that's west Side, you got the Monona,
- 0:54Speaker 1: You've got east Side just off the interstate sun Prairie
- 0:57Speaker 1: location as go ahead.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Was that yes, yep? So I'm pravery too.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:01Speaker 2: All the minards areas are doing that well.
- 1:03Speaker 1: That is absolutely fantastic, and we talk about some of
- 1:06Speaker 1: the benefits. There are some food pantries. You guys work
- 1:09Speaker 1: closely with the area of food pantries, don't you, right.
- 1:12Speaker 2: The one that the Madison West side here that we
- 1:15Speaker 2: are affiliated with for this food drive is the Society
- 1:18Speaker 2: of Saint Vincent de Paul.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Oh, fantastic organisms.
- 1:21Speaker 2: They they work really yep, they work really well with us.
- 1:24Speaker 2: They actually provide bins that we set at the two
- 1:28Speaker 2: front entrances of our building where you cannot purchase non
- 1:31Speaker 2: perishable food items and drop them in there. And if
- 1:34Speaker 2: you just want to donate some that you have already
- 1:36Speaker 2: nonperishal items, you can drop those off too. We do
- 1:38Speaker 2: accept those also.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I know a lot of folks wonder about that
- 1:41Speaker 1: is you know, if is there an opportunity I know,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and for folks that are regular shoppers like myself with minards. No,
- 1:47Speaker 1: you guys have have a great section there for food
- 1:50Speaker 1: items and other things that folks can also pick up
- 1:52Speaker 1: and donate. But you do say, folks kind if they've
- 1:55Speaker 1: got nonperishable stuff at home, they can they can bring
- 1:57Speaker 1: them in as well.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yep, that would be fine. Yep.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So with this as we're talking this morning with Darryl
- 2:02Speaker 1: Erickson with Minards, of course they've got their big food
- 2:06Speaker 1: drive running now through the end of July. A great
- 2:08Speaker 1: day to get on in and whether you want to
- 2:10Speaker 1: pick up some items in store or do a drop off,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and those benefits to the local food pantry. How long, Daryl,
- 2:16Speaker 1: do you know how many years now you guys have
- 2:18Speaker 1: been participating in doing this event.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It has been several years, and I would like to say,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know, the Madison market, it seems very generously. We
- 2:27Speaker 2: do have a good turnout on that. I really do
- 2:29Speaker 2: appreciate that.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, one of the.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Really interesting things. And it's a great point you bring
- 2:33Speaker 1: up there, Darryl, is Madison is a very generous community. Unfortunately,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I think a lot of times we forget because it's
- 2:39Speaker 1: also you know, you look around, you think everybody's doing
- 2:41Speaker 1: absolutely fantastic. There are those in need here and you
- 2:44Speaker 1: can't always tell outwardly of who those folks are. And
- 2:48Speaker 1: having a great event like this and a great opportunity
- 2:50Speaker 1: and a convenient opportunity as well, is a big thing.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And I think that's an important point is I think
- 2:55Speaker 1: a lot of us want to help out, and we
- 2:57Speaker 1: have all these great intentions. Sometimes just making it convenient
- 3:01Speaker 1: makes all the difference. I think that's kind of one
- 3:02Speaker 1: of the really cool things you guys are able to
- 3:04Speaker 1: do with Minards is having the very convenient locations, very
- 3:08Speaker 1: convenient hours. It makes it really easy for folks who
- 3:11Speaker 1: want to help out, really gives them a good avenue
- 3:13Speaker 1: to in a very convenient avenue to do just that.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, in our store hours Monday, Monday through Saturday,
- 3:21Speaker 2: we're open six am to ten pm, and on Sunday
- 3:23Speaker 2: we're opening eight a m To a pm. So that's
- 3:26Speaker 2: exactly it Seohn. It's very convenient. We're opening a lot
- 3:28Speaker 2: of hours and they stop in, just stop by the
- 3:30Speaker 2: grocery section and you can drop it off on the
- 3:32Speaker 2: way out when you go through the registers.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Convenience, Convenient, convenient locations, convenient Barrel's a great time of
- 3:38Speaker 1: year to do just that. Darryl Erickson with Menard's website,
- 3:42Speaker 1: Folks may want to go to to get more information.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You got something like that available.
- 3:46Speaker 2: They could email me directly if they'd like to. At Maddie,

- 3:53Speaker 2: manager at Minards dot com, or they could just go
