- David: What's up and welcome to another episode of Whiskey and Winners. Listen, Brian came back. This is a different little time for us, so there'll be no whiskey drinking today because we're doing it kind of during the day. Normally we'll try to film this a little later at night, about four o'clock early enough, five o'clock somewhere, as we always say. But it's a little during the day today, so we're not gonna do any whiskey, just the winners parts, and we'll get into a little bit of fact that not as many winners last week. Greg put the curse on me, but Speaking of some drinking and some winning, my friend over there branding all the flowers flyer brands, the Florida State gear that he can. Just got back from the beautiful state of Wisconsin, I believe, and talk about some winning. I tell you what, the land of Laverne and Shirley is on a streak, my friend. The Brewers took Toma W last night. Brian, how was Milwaukee? Brian: It was nice up there. Weather was great. everybody that you saw had a brewer's stuff on for sure. They were excited about what was going on with that baseball. David: How could you not, man? Wait up for the youke, baby. I was pretty excited about it. we won't go too in depth. That's more for the common sense sports show that we do. This one's about college football, but it's hard not to get excited about college football. And this weekend was was looking to be one of the best weekends for sports that you can think of, because it's possibly we could have had a game seven of the World Series and all these phenomenal football games that we got going, but we do not have that because as I mentioned, the Brewers took care of business. Taking care of business last week was a little struggle for me. We didn't get a chance to do a recap show. Greg put the kiss of death on me. That happens. Brian, I know you're busy now, but do you have the numbers in front of you that we went last week since we didn't get to do a recap? Brian: Yeah, last week we combined as a team we went eighteen and ten, so right at about sixty four percent. Greg led the way last week with eight and two. I was seven and four, and then David had his first losing week with three and four. But David: I should have known last week when I was that struggle on that Saturday that this week was gonna be rough and I'm struggling this week. It's tough. Turns out when you take all the weight off your shoulders, it ain't always a victory. It's a struggle this week, but it's sure is nice to have my shoulders back from having to carry y'all's ass. Greg's carrying his load finally. So what so w y'all had great weeks. We're still winning for the year. You got the yearly breakdown you said? Brian: Yeah, for the year Greg's percentage is up to fifty seven percent. I'm at fifty eight percent and then you're still sitting at sixty six point six seven percent. So David: Still got a little little load on my shoulders, but Greg, why did you put the curse on me? Greg: I had to find out if it was real or not, brother. I had to see what the magic was all about. David: Sometimes you gotta I went against the flow on some of my blow your wad scenarios and I had those little gut feelings. I tried to start thinking too much and that's always been my problem. I start thinking too damn much. Greg: Well, I I will tell you that as proud as I am of the eight and two David: Mm-hmm. Greg: record last weekend, I think I am more proud of the fact that after multiple attempts I finally got somebody triggered by my soaking references. Finally somebody picked up on it and made a comment. David: Did they? I missed it. That's good stuff. Greg: Not even sure where it was, but one one of the socials was there was there was somebody commenting about how how disgusting that reference was and that we kept bringing it up. I was grateful. David: Mm-hmm. Well, clearly we know where his denomination lies when it comes to religion, Greg: that's what I'm doing. Yeah. David: because he does not want to bring it up. But not a lot of soaking took place in BYU that last Saturday, boy. That was the blow your wad scenario came back to haunt everybody. It's so far, the blow your wad scenario I believe is about eighty five percent. I that's not a technical, that's not a actual breakdown, but if I had to go off top of my head, it's pretty high up there. So let's see if we'll have some of those this week. We got some big games in store. Halloween weekend. We got some Halloween football, baby. And one thing I'm excited for, in the SEC especially, but a little bit of ACC as well, with if you're talking about Miami, the girls, before they go out, they're trying to be on TV. They're trying to get shown on TV by wearing some scanted clothes. With it being Halloween, you think we ain't gonna see some outfits this weekend, baby? I'm just Greg: David, may may I remind you that I have a daughter in college. Let's not let's not go down this path. David: she is ruined it because we think about I'm thinking of the older, the senior girls, not the freshman girls. That is hard. Gotta watch my tongue now. I didn't think about that. And if thankfully she's not at this college, because this college, not as much as the state part of it, but number 22, Arizona taking on number 13, Texas Tech. Woo, Texas Tech. Cincinnati came a callin', baby. Cincinnati came a callin'. both teams are six and one. Tech just lost 37 to 24 at Cincinnati after beating Arizona State, the party school, 53 to 25. Cincinnati ran all over for 255 yards. Greg, you think there's a chance that Arizona's gonna take up for little brother and grow up and show Texas Tech what's up? Greg: the the the Arizona offense does scare me a little bit, but I I've been a fan of this Texas Tech team most of the year. I I think the trip to Cincinnati, I think that was a little bit of a fluke. I actually think coming back home to Lubbock, Lubbock is a Lubbock is a tough place to play. I think Texas Tech will be able to kind of control the tempo. I actually, and again just trying to read the T leaves and read the numbers, coming off a loss, laying three plus a hook. Give me Texas Tech to get it done at home minus three and a half, unless B can find me a better number. I'd certainly rather not lay three in a hook, but I'm willing to. Brian: Four or David: Yeah. Four. Brian: three and a half. Three and a half to four is what it's at. So it's right there sticking stone strong. Greg: Give me David: Okay, yeah. Greg: that three and a half. That that actually makes me feel even better. David: Over under at fifty four and a half is what I got with Texas Tech giving up three and a half. Brian, you're an Arizona fan? You gonna jump on that bandwagon? You gonna have a reverse blow your wad scenario where Texas Tech comes back firing or what? Brian: this is going to be a good ball game. This is gonna be an elimination Big 12 game. They both got a loss. Utah's undefeated Big 12, so that second loss is gonna be costly, whichever one of them gets it. So I expect them both be able to play. Texas Tech's secondary has been their their weakness this year. And Arizona quarterback Noah Fafita is good after one thing I looked at on this game with it being a 12 o'clock Eastern start. That's a nine o'clock body start for Arizona. Normally David: Woo! Brian: under head coach Brent Brennan at Arizona, his teams have historically started slow when they play a nine and nine a.m. body clock start. They do good in the second half, but the first half they usually come out a little slow. So I'm gonna bet that that's still gonna happen in this game. And Texas Tech tried to control the clock and play defense. So my play is gonna be under twenty-eight and a half for the first half. David: Nice. I like it. I'm gonna go somewhat in that scenario you're going. And I think the little home team has a little advantage here. And Texas Tech coming off that loss wants to sh come back and show their boys what's up. Hey, this was just a fluke. It happens. It's been that kind of year. We're gonna have that off game. my God, they're they're not alone when it comes to being beat by teams that they shouldn't be beat by because we'll probably get into the OG later, but that happened to them. So I'm taking Texas Tech. I know it's three and a half points, but give me home and Texas Tech at that time difference. That the weather is going to be, beautiful, warming into the low 60s, early, starting at about 59 degrees. It says earlier fogs and thunder thunderstorms appear in the forecast, but I don't think that's going to play a factor. So give me Texas Tech. On a hot streak, as we mentioned before, Brian just left his heart there in Wisconsin. Did you see a lot of cheese heads? Did you see it? Did you eat a lot of cheese? Brian: I did get some cheese, actually brought some back with me. It's a it's good. They they do a good job with it. David: well didn't you didn't get my address. My address you didn't get my address or nothing. I I guess you get you go send it through Greg. I think Greg has it in his fine. That's fine. That's fine. I I'll expect that care package of sausage Brian: Yeah, we'll get you some. David: sausage and cheese coming in soon. What part of Wisconsin was you in again? Brian: We started out in Milwaukee and ended up in Appleton, which is right outside of Green Bay. David: I've never heard anybody go to Milwaukee and come back and say that place was anything but spectacular. Like love that Brian: It was nice. David: it's everybody says it's great, Greg: Thank you. David: and what a ballpark to play in. I hate to keep going back to baseball, but beautiful ballpark. They deserve to win. Does Wisconsin deserve to win at Iowa? Number 25 ranked Wisconsin. Another kickoff, a noon kickoff game. This one's in Iowa, Iowa City. Fifty seven at about eleven A. I got Iowa giving up three to three and a half. Total is like you mentioned before, that offense not so much. Thirty six and a half to thirty seven and a half is what I have. Brian, is your love for Iowa gonna show in this or is your love for money gonna show and you're gonna try to sneak one in there? Brian: This is this is a hundredth meeting between these two schools for the David: Mm. Brian: Heartland Heartland Trophy. I know you like keeping up with that. So this for the Heartland Trophy. Wisconsin Leeds Series 49, 48, and two. La David: Ooh. Brian: the last two meetings, I was beat them by a confined score of 79 to 10, including 37 and nothing last year. Iowa did lose their Bell Cow running back, Kamari Moulton. That's a big loss for them. They like to run the ball. I think Wisconsin is the better team from what that way they're playing right now. But currently you got 78% of the money coming in on Wisconsin plus that three and a half. So y'all know I'm not touching that. David: Mm-hmm. Brian: I'm gonna look at the total. You can find that total, depending on where you look, anywhere between thirty four and a half and thirty seven and a half. I think some these two teams can score a little bit. So I took the over thirty four and a half. It was too low for me. David: Does seem like a lot not a whole lot of points. Greg: I like where your heads at, Brian. I I lean towards the over as well. I think this is the one where we're finally getting caught up, and that number is squeaked down. And I'm with you. Both these teams can put points on the board. You you touched on something that that leads into my official play on this one. And I'm with you. I think right now the eyeball test tells me Wisconsin's a better team. And I was state or Iowa's laying that dumb three and a half number, which tells me I gotta take Iowa minus the points. I don't know how they get it done because I'm not sure either team gets to twenty. So covering anything north of a field goal is always tough. But the number tells me to take Iowa minus three and a half. So I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing and Iowa minus three. Even better. David: Hate to keep hate to keep blowing up the blow your wide scenario, but I think that might take effect here in the fact that the World Series took a lot out of them. They were pumped that whole weekend. Nobody paid to I'm pretty sure Wisconsin may not even practice a couple of days. They were up late watching the game. Now I know most colleges you're like, well, they don't necessarily have to be from that state, but I feel like not a lot of people coming out of state to go to Wisconsin. I think a lot of those are some homegrown folks. And I think they got caught up in the World Series, maybe didn't read a playbook, maybe didn't watch some film. So I'm gonna take Iowa. Give me the Hawkeyes. I'm gonna go with that. Just a feeling. I can't explain it, but a somewhat of a blow your wad scenario. I'm gonna I'm gonna ride that train as long as I can. Speaking of riding that train, the Indiana train got to a little bit of a halt, a little slowdown basically a couple weeks ago with that just that close to scoring that touchdown. Just foot barely out. They've bounced back Indiana seven and one. They're taking on Minnesota at home. I have what what's what's the spread here? I don't have twenty twenty and a half. Twenty one. Ooh. Brian: Twenty twenty to twenty to twenty one and a half, you can find it. David: And then you have a total at 41 and a half. I always I'm gonna go first on this one. I always go just wins and all that. But when you don't tell me they're gonna possibly win by up at twenty-one, and then the total's only forty-one and a half. I'm gonna take Indiana. I'm gonna take the total. I mean, I'm gonna take over. Give me the over on the total. I'm gonna try something different. That's when I'm when I'm starting to branch out into this, into Brian territory, I know I'm starting to struggle. So I'm gonna take the over, Greg. What you gonna take in this Minnesota Indiana game? Greg: You're you're starting to connect the dots the right way. That's that's a big lay in of points and a relatively low total, which is usually tells you you're better to play with the total than the spread. I I'm with you. I I've got over 41 and a half as an official play. I I think Indiana's gonna probably get close to 30. We don't need Minnesota to do a whole lot of the heavy lifting. They just need to remember once or twice throughout the game that it's okay for them to score two. I could see this being 35 to 14 or something like that. but yeah, I'm I'm with you. Give me the over forty one and a half and and I think Indiana does most of the heavy lifting in this one. David: Dang it, I don't like us Green. This is not a good show if we all say the same thing. Here comes Brian with a third down percentages in the second quarter when there's less than third and five to go. Here we go. Brian: Close. college game days here. You know, both these great defenses. Offense struggled a little bit for both of them. Bookmaker made this a massive favorite, like y'all just talked about of three scores. There's eighty-nine percent of the money coming in on Minnesota. So that's probably a good thing for y'all. Minnesota has been terrible on offense. Right now they rank a hundred and second, 122nd in the country. And rushing defense efficiency. They're unable to run the ball. They rely on drop back, try to throw little short passes, which feeds into what Indiana does. So Indiana's averaging a sack on nine and a half percent. So their opponent's drop back. So they're gonna put some pressure on quarterback. They also average only giving up twelve points a game. I don't know that Minnesota can get to that twelve points a game, so I took Greg: Two. Brian: the Minnesota team total under eleven and a half. David: Maybe a good call 'cause Indiana's gonna try to they can be some stifling defenses at times. They're gonna show up. They hunt Ohio State to what not a whole lot. Greg: The the o the only risk here is that Brian: Time. Greg: it just gets out of hand so early that Indiana basically spends the better part of the third and entire fourth quarter just basically running clock. And and I mean but I still I at at a total of forty one, forty one and a half. I again I think Indiana might get damn close to that number on their own. David: Yeah. Brian: Yeah. I think so. David: Next up, we got the world's largest cocktail party. Like Greg said, I will always call it that. You can't change my mind. And it's always the Red Rivalry, Red, Red River shootout. Not the damn right. That's staying with the classics, baby. Number 17, the Florida Gators. Versus the number three Georgia Bulldogs coming off of let's a big loss. But could be worse, but that was an ugly game. Georgia's six and one. Florida's five and two. Both are coming off a bye, as it always is the case. This year it's a little different because we're playing in the Mercedes-Benz Dome, which there's been some up and down scenarios with the Mercedes-Benz Dome in Georgia, but here recently we've started to show out. But Brian, I got Georgia giving up 11.5 to 12, the overunder being 54.5 to 55 and a half. Obviously, weather's not going to be a factor because it's going to be beautiful. Is it a bounce back game for Kirby to prove a point? Or you think they're gonna squeak by? How you think it's looking, Brian? Brian: They got you can find anywhere between ten and a half and thirteen and a half, depending on where you look. So it's David: Okay. Brian: pretty big differences there. Kirby, nine and coming off a regular season loss since he's been there by average score of thirty-eight to fifteen when he loses in the regular season. He's also eight and two against Florida with average score of thirty-two to twenty. He's also eight and one coming off a standard regular season by with an average score of thirty-six to fifteen. He's very familiar with what Florida's wanting to do. Buster Faulkner, y'all know, coached with Kirby for about three years as a quarterback coach, 2020 to 2022. Then he was offensive coordinator from 23 to 25. So Kirby's very familiar with what they're going to try to do. You got 63% of the bets and the money coming in on Florida plus the points. Last week, I took a Indiana Ohio State game and made three plays in that game, went two and one in those plays. So I got three plays in this one. David: Okay, here we go. Brian: Give me Georgia minus ten and a half, Georgia team total over thirty-three and a half, and Florida team total under twenty-two and a half. David: Mm. I think I might I agree with the under Florida thing. Well, no, I don't know. The thirty something points for Georgia's gonna be rough in a in a rivalry game. I think they've only averaged twenty-two in his last two or three games, whereas before they started out four averaging forty-three. It's been hard to get in the O N zone here lately. Now Nate Frazier being out didn't help matters any, but we didn't see the deep ball that I wanted. A few times we did see it, it somehow get called back. But Greg, those are some wild numbers. What you say? Greg: Well, obviously I love everything Brian said. I think it's great breakdown, good analysis. I I I'm pulling hell for him to win all three of those bets, clearly. I can't get to an official play on this, and it has absolutely nothing to do with us laying an egg against Auburn two weeks ago. There is almost no doubt in my mind that Kirby's got the boys ready. That was just a fluke. We look I watched the replay, unfortunately. It sucked. It was painful to watch it again. But the turnovers were huge. I don't think Gunner was right after that hit early when he landed on his head. It was just one of those games that let's be real, you you sit at the top of the mountain for as long as this program has, you're gonna lay an egg every now and then. It even happened to Alabama every so often. I fully expect us to rebound. I think Brian's right. I think we are a better team. I would expect us to cover the number, but I am gonna tell you at this point in the season, and I'm almost ashamed to admit this. I don't think I have a real effing clue how good or bad this Florida team is. So laying anything north of double digits, I just can't get there because I'm just not sure I saw what this team did to Ole Miss. And I don't want any part I I just I don't know. I think we comfortably win by 17 to 20. I I think we have a good day on offense and put some points on the board, but I just can't get to an official play on this one because I just Florida's a complete unknown for me in this one and and the rivalry is always makes me a little uncomfortable. David: As a guy wearing Georgia gear today, being hyped because it's Florida Georgia weekend, baby. I'm a Georgia fan. I hope we go out and stomp them by 40. I hope it's a beat down of epic proportion. I hope it's a bounce back game. I hope Bobo draws up some plays where we throw the ball downfield instead of just deking and diving. Screen crap. I hope Fraser comes back with a vengeance and just gets about 180 yards with two scores. I hope Lawson Lucky or whatever his name is gets lucky, and I hope it's w his brothers waving in the O end zone. Just wait after he scores two different touchdowns. But it's a rivalry game and I don't like Bobo's playbook. I think Georgia's going to win, but I don't think they're going to cover. I don't see it happening. I think we're going to I think Gunnar Stockton's percentage is 75% or whatnot because a lot of that is unfortunately DEK's and little things like that. He's going to get a little gunslinger there at some point. Then they're going to shut it down in the second half and just try to run it. keep that little bit of score they got, and I think we're gonna end up winning the game, but I don't think we're gonna cover. So give me painful to say, give me Florida. Georgia the win, Florida the cover. Brian: Maybe they'll win by eleven to twelve eleven to thirteen and we'll both hit. David: I like it. I like it. But that hurts to say, but I just I don't know. Greg, why tell me explain. Let's Georgia fan Greg and Georgia fan David and it a lot more than I do. Give me something to make me feel excited about Mike Bobo. Greg: If if if the majority of Georgia fans got their wish and Mike Bobo was let go tomorrow, he would be unemployed for less than forty eight hours before he would be at another top twenty program. David: Yeah, in our own. Just I don't know. Nothing's exciting me. Greg: When you when you and again, most even elite level college programs, the fans don't like the OC. Because we all think we know more. Like every time they David: That's true. Well the back Greg: call a draw on third and 12, we forget about field position. We forget about the other 60 minutes of the game. We just focus on one play at a time. We don't understand what they're setting up. We don't understand how many times they're calling a play to set up something later. We don't get it. We don't know anything. And we all think we're damn geniuses. Mike Bobo knows more football than you and I put together, probably even Brian too. And Brian's smarter than both of us. So that's why you should feel good about Mike Bobo. David: want to get there. I really do. I do want to get there. Speaking of not feeling great about your coaching, next game, Clipson versus Florida State. Seven o'clock, baby, in Dope Campbell Stadium. Talla nasty is what I call it. I tell you a story about going to Tallahassee. I had a kid that we were down at Alligator Point. Kid got a a hook in his ear, my youngest Sutton, where we're at, down Panacea Panacea Alligator Point. There's no hospitals, no urgent cares at that time. You had to pretty much drive to Tallahassee. So I drive my butt to Tallahassee. Long story short, gets his hook out of his ear. It was pretty bad. It was crazy. We have to go to a CVS. I go to a CVS. I hop out. I'm like, hey, just stay in the car. I'll be right back. I'm just gonna go get this medicine. I hop out. There's two dudes smoking crack, literally right in front of CVS. Other dudes looking like straight meth head. And I'm like, you know what? We're gonna go somewhere else. So I get back in the car. And drive my wife my wife and my kid to another location and then I walk there. I don't even trust them being out. I walk from a different area to keep them out of that. But but but Tallahassee's pretty though, from what I hear is the capital city. I don't know where I was going with that, Brian. I just want to throw that out there. In Tallahassee, Georgia. Georgia. See, I try to tell a story. I told you I was struggling this week. Take it over, Brian. I'm lost. Brian: Tallahassee, Florida. This used David: Yes. Brian: to be a this used to be the marquee matchup at ACC, but not Greg: Yeah. Brian: so much. So this could be a game that both coaches are gonna be gone at the end of the year. Maybe one survives, who knows? I mean, at this point, I don't know what we're gonna do. these you these two teams, you know, represented ACC in the championship game fifteen of the last 17 years. I don't see either one of them being there this year, so that's gonna probably end. the money on this game's coming in fifty fifty, which is what the bookmakers want to see. So you don't see a whole lot of adjustments. You can see anywhere between FSU minus five to minus six and a half. Over unders anywhere between forty eight and a half, fifty two and a half. one thing I can say in FSU's four home games, they've held the opponent. They played under a touchdown or more under the season average of that team. So the defense has played better at home. They played horribly on the road. Clemson has not been very good on offense. They still have only, like we talked about last week, they've still only thrown two touchdown passes this year. They hadn't they didn't throw one last week. David: Good gosh. Brian: the last three games in this game have come under the total. I expect FSU coming off a bye to be able to get after the quarterback, Tate Reynolds. Clemson ranks 131st in the country in pass protection. So we should be able to get after him pretty good. I went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, 'cause I know it's not a good thing for me usually when I do this, but I think they're gonna come out and play hard for Norvell, especially when the when the president put that letter out saying that they were gonna David: I saw that. Brian: revamp the athletic departments and da da da. Never came out and said he that his job was safe. Never came David: You hear that, Greg? Optimism in Brian's voice. Brian: out and said his job was safe or anything like that. So I expect them to play hard, so I'm gonna lay it. FSU minus five. David: That letter was a direct response to one Mr. Brian Noble sending that carefully worded email to the athletic department saying you ain't getting no more of this firefighter money until you get things right. He was trying to give you hope, and it looks as if it might have worked because you got a little excited. Now, Mother Nature even knows that dark clouds are rolling over Tallahassee and in Clemson, to be honest with you, because we're looking at showers possibly around seven o'clock. So we may have a bit of a Sloppy game going on. But as you said, Tallahassee, I got FSU giving up six, six and a half, Greg: Thank you. David: total at around fifty points. That seems to me to be a lot of points based on the fact that you said we only got two score, two throwing touchdowns by Clemson. Seats could not be hotter in both of those coaches to me. Well, obviously one's a little hotter in Tallahassee because he has a championship in Clemson. So Greg: Yeah, that's it. David: but Greg. How you feeling? you heard Optimist Brian, which is we don't usually hear out of a Florida State fan this year, but he's being optimistic. Are you optimistic about this Florida State team? Greg: Well, despite your rambling, barely coherent rant about your crackhead and Tallahnasty, I have frequented David: It was Greg: Tallahassee very often. It's one of my favorite cities in the South to go spend an evening or two. I enjoy Tallahassee and y'all have gotten to know me. Sometimes you just look at something and go, Well, as a man of principle, I can only do one thing here. Rule number one, Florida State's back on the rundown. That tells me something. Rule number two, they're on the rundown and they're laying down near a touchdown. I got no choice but to play Florida State. Give me Florida State minus the points. David: I like it. I like it. I'm not gonna go with it. I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Clemson. I've something about f I think everybody's trying to get a little too optimistic about Florida State. I feel that's something in this Clemson team, I think this is the week. I think we get another touchdown added in the air. I think it's gonna be sloppy overall. We're gonna have some runs. There's gonna be a couple fumbles. That's gonna happen. The weather in Florida State this year, either whether it's lightning delays. Or something. There's just something cursed about this season for Florida State. And I think we just delayed the inevitable by that good outing with Miami. And I think this might be the one where as bad as Clemson is, they're like, We get beat like this by Clemson, who's not any good. That's gonna be the last game. So I'm thinking, Clemson, give me Clemson in the points. I'm gonna take it. No particular reason. No long story. And it has nothing to do with the fact that those crackheads at the CVS, but that's where I'm going with. Next one, I've never been to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, so I have no story going on about it. But we did talk about Miami, keeping it in Florida. But number one, Miami's taking on North Carolina, who's unranked. But I don't know. Am I the only one that's ca starting to think if he gets two more years at North Carolina, things might be changing for Bill Belichick might actually turn into something? I mean, obviously he's a great coach, but I don't know. I'm a little excited, but we got number one Miami taking on North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Miami's giving up 14 to 15 is what I have. And a total of 52 and a half. It's gonna be right 60 degrees at kickoff, pretty weather, a little bit cloudy about eight o'clock. The game's at seven thirty. Miami's number one, and they received fifty nine of seventy first place voice votes, which how is it not seventy of seventy? I don't know. That makes no sense to me. But Brian, I think I started with you last time in Florida State, but I'm gonna bring it back to you because you d you cover all of Florida. Who you got in this one? Brian: And this classic trap game like you just talked about, ACC spot on the road. Next next week they play that big matchup in South Bend against Notre Dame. So this is the the trap game scenario. Bill Belichick, as we know, made a career of being able to take away the other team's best player. I'm not sure he can take Malachi Tony away. I don't think he's got the athletes to take him away at North Carolina. I don't know that anybody has athletes to take them away, really. He he did come out and say that one of the reporters asked Bill Belichick in the news conference this week about doubling Malachi Tony. He said, I don't think it matters. He he knows how to beat double coverage. He gets double covered every game they play. David: Yeah. Brian: So, he's he's just good. but, you know, I do If I was to take a a spread on this, I would probably lean towards North Carolina just because Mario Cristobal factor. So I got this to I can tell y'all. No coach in college football has lost more games as a double digit favorite than Mario Cristobal. He's lost six since he's been at Miami. David: jeez. Brian: So his road favorite teams, if you bet him as a favorite on the road, you're going to be sweating because it's usually turned into a sweat. fifty percent of the time he covers as a road favorite. So just two weeks ago they were favored by twenty one and a half over Florida State. Wasn't on the road, but it was still a double digit road favorite. And y'all saw how that ended. we could discuss that again, but that's for another day. so if I was to bet a total, I would be leaning towards the North Carolina. You've got 76% of the money coming in on North Carolina plus the points though. So that's a little too too rich for me to try to mess with. so I started looking into it. UN UNC defense, they give up thirty-one points to Syracuse, they gave up thirty seven points to Notre Dame, and they gave up twenty eight points to that Clemson offense we just talked about. So I took the Miami team total over thirty three and a half. I think they get to thirty five or more. David: All right. Greg: That's that's pretty good analysis here, Brian. I'm I'm right there with you. I just because of the situational spot and and things of that nature, it everything systemically tells me I I lean towards UNC in the points, especially as this as long as it's north of two touchdowns. Miami's clearly the better team on paper. I I I feel like to take North Carolina the points that you're still almost having to kind of hope Miami have their head in the clouds and make laze an egg to some degree. Or you're just hoping and praying for a backdoor cover, which like you mentioned with Crystal Ball led teams, they can get up big and then take their foot off the gas and let you back in one quickly. I I like the team total play. I don't have anything official on this. I'm with you though. I I would lean towards UNC just because of the situational play, but I I don't want any part of getting in front of this Miami team right now. David: Think I'm gonna go I I need to start looking at the fact you said all these people to vote are going with UNC because I think that does have something to do with it. But unfortunately I think that's where I'm gonna go to. I'm gonna have to go UNC. I mean, you're not gonna make a whole lot of money from it if you pick that way, but a buck here, a buck there, and the positive is gonna be the case. I think you you kind of hit on it. I know you can't take away Malachi Tony, but he's taken away a lot of phenomenal athletes in the NFL, but he's had players, but I feel like he's got a time to scheme things up. And he probably circled this game as one of those, hey, I gotta really show out here. So I'm sure they've been looking at this game from the get go as hey, this might be something. So give me Bill Belichick. I say give me North Carolina, but you're really just giving me Bill Belichick because that's where my faith lies. Not in the players, but in Bill Belichick able to scheme something up and keep it close. I'm not saying they're going to win outright, but I think they're going to keep within two touchdowns. So give me no kaka lacki, baby. Take a shirt off. Brian: You definitely got the coach definitely got the coaching advantage between Bill Belichick and Mario Christopher, so David: Yeah. Take your shirt off, whip it round your head like a helicopter. You know who that is, Greg? Greg: Pete Pablo. David: PD Pablo. PD Pablo. PD Ohio State O Number two. Ohio State at USC. Boy. Your season not gonna go down, but boy, when you lose somebody, a Heisman candidate at quarterback, that hurts. And I think I saw where he's officially out, or maybe it's his decision. But as Greg can tell you, shoulders are nothing to play with. So I don't think we're gonna be seeing a Julian Saiyan for quite a while, and that's gonna have to come into effect. Greg, you know how he feels. How do you feel about this USC? Ohio State game with Ohio State giving up. Apparently, somebody knows something because just six and a half, total 51 and a half. Greg: Well, I I will say that I East Coast teams traveling that far west and laying anything of that substance. I I I don't like it. I'm not real comfortable with this number. I I definitely think Ohio State's the better team, but the the questions at QB are obviously concerning. So you got a team flying across the entire country, all the time zones with a backup QB, and they're still laying six and a half. The one thing I know for sure about this matchup is There ain't nobody on USC's roster and probably nobody in the state of California that can stop Jeremiah Smith. If Ohio State can find anybody to get him the ball occasionally, I think he's gonna find the end zone. Again, this this is one of those I'm I'm playing more so because the number just doesn't quite feel right. And I feel like it's a tricky situation. I'm laying the points on the road with a no-name quarterback that we're give me Ohio State minus six, six and a half. Just because I'm not sure it makes any sense and therefore I love it. David: Right? Brian? Brian: Yeah. Ohio State minus six, yeah. That's good. Ryan Day hadn't come out and said who's gonna be the starter yet. So he's trying to play some mind games, but like you said, Jeremiah Smith will be the big factor. I know we mentioned this before on the show about the conference stuff getting out of hand. So this is the first meeting between the two of them as Big Ten opponents. So David: That's a weird one, yeah. Brian: Lincoln coaches on the hot seat, you know, falls right up there with those, I think. So He's his hot his seat's hot, especially after he only got scored seven points. He's supposed to be the offensive guy. He scored seven points last week against Wisconsin. This Ohio State defense is gonna be a little better than Wisconsin. since Matt Patricia took over at Ohio State last year, they've only given up over 20 points in a game twice. Twenty four to Miami last year in the Cotton Bowl, and twenty-four to Texas this year. That's the only time they've given up over twenty points. His his defense averaged surrender in about thirteen points a game this year. Because of the questions at quarterback and the way their defense is played and the way USC offense looked last week, I'm gonna take the under fifty two and a half for the game. David: Now, where's everybody betting? What you said last time, 70. Do you have that number handy by chance? Brian: I can I can find it. David: I don't want to keep being the with the favorites, is what it seems, or keep being the one of those that go along with everybody else, but I may have to in this one. But let's just say this Greg said no man can stop Jeremiah Smith. And you were probably right. No player out there is gonna stop Jeremiah Smith, but they might be a lady. And that lady might be Mother Nature because storms are possibly coming in with heavy rains coming in around eight o'clock and continuing. So that's going to slow them down a little bit. The field out in USC, they do a lot of stuff on that. That that field can get a little sloppy at times. And I think that might be the case. So then we're looking at running the ball. And I think that's going to slow things up quite a bit. I don't think. Just have a feeling. I can't explain it, but I think USC, this might be one of those games, a bit of a not trap game necessarily for Ohio State, because they want to come out and show out, but I just don't think I think this might be one of those games USC just decides to show up. Weather's gonna be a factor. We're gonna have some fumbles late. It's gonna cause some things. Jeremiah Smith might be shut down a little bit as far as the long pass. So give me USC. I don't know if I'm going against the grain with everybody or if everybody feels like I do, but just have that feeling, Greg. I have that feeling. Brian: Yep. And you you're against it on that one. So sixty nine percent of the public money is coming in on Ohio State. David: my favorite number, baby. Yeah, yeah. Second favorite. Greg: All right, Brad. Well, I'll I'll give a quick recap of my plays from the rundown and then I'll toss you my extra plays and then you can do the rundown in the same. I had Arizona at Texas Tech, give me Texas Tech at home as the favorite. Wisconsin at Iowa, give me Iowa at home as the favorite. Minnesota at Indiana, give me the over in that one. Give me Ohio State minus the six or six and a half on the road at Southern Cal. And give me Florida State as the favorite at home against Clemson. On top of that, off the rundown, Notre Dame at Navy. I gotta think the Catholics have some respect for the Service Academy and will keep it as respectable as possible. I don't know that Navy gets many points on the board in this one. Give me the under or whatever the best number. I saw 56 and a half, but give me no Notre Dame at Navy under the total. I think the real Auburn Tigers showed back up last week. we gifted David: Yes. Greg: them a win in Athens. I hesitantly laid the touchdown plus with LSU, and that one got home easily. Now they go to one of my favorite places, and I'm telling you, they ain't got no answers for Trinidad and the Rebels. Give me Old Miss minus. I saw 12, but whatever the best number you can find. Give me Ole Miss is the favorite at home. Moving on from there, I have not been a fan of this team all year long, although I am a fan of their head coach. Northwestern at Oregon. I think this is the spot where Oregon finally pops back up and reminds us that they're still a decent football team. I don't think this Northwestern team is going to travel well all the way out there. Give me Oregon as the home favorite. I saw three and a half, which is what it made me like it. If I can get better, I'll certainly take it. And then my final play straight up is Oklahoma State at Iowa State. Give me the Cyclones as the home dog. I saw nine and a half be, but I'll certainly take an extra half if you can get me one. Brian: Yeah, I'll look at those in just a minute. let's see. My rundown, I got the Texas Tech, Arizona under 28 and a half for the first half. Wisconsin I four and a half, ten and a half, Georgia team total over thirty-three and a half, Florida team total under 22 and a half, Minnesota team total under eleven and a half, Florida State minus five. Ohio State USC under 52 and a half and Miami team total over 33 and a half. My extra plays, I'm in the same game you are. That Auburn O Miss, you got 72% of the money coming in on Auburn, so that felt fares well for you. I took I thought the total was too high. I know I did it last week when it went in an under in the Trinidad Chandler's game, and I'm gonna do it again. Give me under fifty-nine and a half. I don't know that they there's sixty points in that one. I also went in the Notre Dame Navy game. Navy ranks 132nd in the country against the pass. CJ Carr is fixing to light them up. Marcus Freeman, they're very familiar with this defense. So I put no, I think they're gonna jump on them early and then try to coast for the rest of the game. So I got Notre Dame minus 17.5 for the first half. Virginia at Wake Forest. Some reason there's 84% of the money on Virginia. I don't get it. So I took Wake Forest minus 11 and a half. UNLB NIU, Northern Illinois offense is horrible. So I got them under seven and a half for the first half. Michigan at Rutgers. Rutgers starting quarterbacks out, and their wide receiver KJ Duff is out. Michigan defense been elite. So give me Rutgers team total under 16 and a half. And then my last play is Cal Poly Mustangs at the Montana State Bobcats. David: Yeah. Brian: They're gonna be at Bobcat Stadium. Montana State can score. Cal Poly can score. But I think this total's too high. So give me under sixty five and a half in this game. David: If you'd have gave me fifty tries what Cal stat Cal Polly's nickn mascot was, I don't know if I'd have got it. I would have thrown out a bunch of incorrect political stuff because Cal Polly, ooh, a little left leaning, shall we say. I had a lot of names, but Mustangs wasn't one of them. Greg: If if anybody's looking just for some degenerate Thursday night college football action, there's a total on the board. It's about to approach eighty. At some point you might want to throw some money on the under there just on principle. Like I I think the David: Good gosh. Greg: last I saw it was like seventy-seven, seventy-seven and a half. And at some point, what whatever your unit size is, it might be worth dangling a quarter or a half unit out there on the under just in case somebody rolls an ankle or something. David: Geez, I'll take the o the under for defensive coordinators make it through the rest of the season if that's the case. Jeez, he's giving up points like crazy. Well, is that all the ones what is there money line is where you just pick an outright winner, right? Greg: Yep, we got a moneyline parlay where we both pick a favorite and then we both give a moneyline dog that we think might win outright. Brian, which way you want to go first? Brian: Let's go with the money line parlay. I got North Carolina State without Dave Doran to to beat Cal. Greg: That was that was in my consideration as well. I'm I'm gonna I don't usually like double dipping, but I like the value on this play. Give me Texas Tech on a smaller number to put a put a little extra juice on that squeeze for that money line play. David: You guys Brian: Good. David: are degenerates. Y'all throwing out, Greg: And David: he just threw out a who'd you say was on the team? What? Brian: Carolina State. David: Yeah, you're naming out assistant coaches, the linebackers coach area. You've he coached four years at Auburn. I'm like, what the how the what don't y'all got jobs? Yeah, you got a job. I don't know about Greg, but you have a job and all this stuff. Greg: And if and for my money line dog, I am going against David's blow ya wad theory and against the hopefully there's no remnants of soaking in Orlando. Give me Central Florida to get the win at home against Baylor. David: Looking for a coach. You think old boy? Brian: Yeah. David: Think who is it that's Robert Griffin saying putting his name in the hat? Nah, Dion done ruined that for y'all, bruh. It ain't gonna happen. Brian: That that FAU North Texas is up to seventy eight and a half. So David: Good gosh. Brian: I took since you're talking about Dion, give me Kansas State over Colorado. I don't know how how in the world Colorado's favored against anybody, so I had to take Kansas State. David: Well, I love I've more than once showed my love for Dion Sanders, but he's getting kind of thin skinned. You you say one negative as a journalist, boy, they he freaks out. A writing books about me. I mean, come on, man. But it's it's upsetting as a Dion fan. And also upset are you done, Greg? You got the Greg: Yeah, you keep talking about Dion, we'll go down a path nobody's gonna like. So yeah, I'm done. David: Yeah, let me just get this out of and it it's kind of correlates. Camario Taylor, Alpha the Year with Turf To Turf Toe, right? That first time I ever hear about them talking about turf toe was when Dion kept being out with turf toe. And I was like, Come on, Dion, what are we weak? Like that? What's going on? How you missing that? Well, if you look up Turf Toe, it is no joke, legit, serious. Can we rename that? Because you hear turf toe, you don't think, why is this guy out for the rest of the season? But it is no joke. And especially if you look at Dion's toes now, I can't help but think that those turf toes had something to do with it. So rename that. Greg: As as someone who broke his toe, his big toe in college, I can tell you, like it it's a I was more prone to turf toe. I dealt with it off and on routinely, where it cleats or anything of that nature is brutal when you and nowadays the arthritis and stuff in that big toe is no joke, man. It it seems like a small appendage, but you go messing around with them big toes, that is a place where you don't want any sort of discomfort or pain. David: get do the man a favor and rename it because you're like, he's just being wee. He's trying to save himself was next thing. No, that junk is no joke. So don't let that factor in him next to season. If he's available, I'll take him in a heartbeat. So that's all I got, Greg. Sorry, I stories run deep. I thought y'all struggled. Not only did I struggle at the picking games last week, it's been a weekly struggle. This late night baseball is killing me, y'all. Greg: Well, after the after the struggles and the rambling tall and nasty story, I can't wait to see the smooth exit today. David: No, the smooth exit's gonna be a quick one this time. Guys, appreciate y'all listening. Whiskey and winners, minus the whiskeys part. Greg, I believe, has a designated YouTube that's a little different than he does for belief ballots and bulldogs. And maybe he'll hit that link. So follow Greg on our socials when he puts up. Click that link, hit that little plus button, subscribe. That way you get a little ding and let you know when we're filming. Maybe one day we'll get this thing live streaming. I don't know, but we won't get it during the day as much. But Brian, as always, our numbers guy. We appreciate it. Glad you're back from the beautiful state of Wisconsin. Go brewers, baby. Greg, this weekend, I'm gonna make some sausage. I'm gonna get that sausage, cut it up, put some barbecue on it, do it just like we used to have. Y'all started that years ago tailgating, and I believe one of the first times I ever came over to your house was a Georgia, Florida game. And this is a celebration, baby. It's gonna be a win. It's gonna be a struggle. Greg: It it has not changed, I can tell you, as as much as I have grown, and and you and I talked about it a little bit on the other show, I I can't claim to have matured or gained any sort of wisdom in my aging process, but I have gained some perspective. but the Georgia, Florida football game will always mean more to me than it should. I will be anxious, I will be a bundle of nerves as soon as I get up Saturday morning until we put them, you know what's away for good for the David: Mm-hmm. Greg: game. So I'm ready, man. I I I think the dogs bounced back. I think that's a hungry bunch. Still got a couple of lingering injuries. Would love to have Chauncey Bowers back. Would love to have KJ fully healthy, but those guys are coming. I I'm I'm willing to accept that little hiccup we saw a couple of weeks ago. I still fully expect this team to be hanging around and nobody's gonna want to mess with them towards the end of the year. I promise you. David: Mm, gonna be a drunk time walking around trick or treating for me on Saturday, one way or the other. Either with excitement or with displeasure. But one way, it's gonna get ready Greg: I'll be waiting for the phone call. David: for it. That's it. Whiskey and winners, thanks, guys, as always, checking in. Sorry it's little late this week. Go follow each of the guys on socials. We'll get Brian a social. He got a you he got an ex though. He got an X account, correct? Follow Brian Brian: Thanks, sir. David: on that. He's quite lively on that thing. Till next time, guys. We appreciate y'all listening. Peace. Brian: So yeah.
