- 0:00Speaker 1: If the Devil went down to Georgia. Our producer back
- 0:04Speaker 1: in the studio who knows music only too well, Cole Dicks,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and must have known that we're gonna have Bobby Burton.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Bobby and I've been friends a long time, over thirty years,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and did television recruiting shows together.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Back in the nineties, and Bobby.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Exploded and I might this is a personal editorial.
- 0:28Speaker 2: This is not something Bobby's saying. It's what I'm saying.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He legitimized the coverage of recruiting in football that started
- 0:37Speaker 1: in the nineties. Bobby was the one who brought it
- 0:42Speaker 1: mainstream and made it legitimate and not looking snarky and
- 0:47Speaker 1: sketchy and all of that other kind of stuff. That's
- 0:49Speaker 1: what Bobby Burton did back in the day. That's what
- 0:52Speaker 1: Bobby Burton did to make it global with rifles. That's
- 0:57Speaker 1: what Bobby's doing right now with on Texas Football.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Author of that.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I'm kind of a full circle for me,
- 1:04Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I started broad and uh
- 1:07Speaker 3: did recruiting nationally helps help launch rivals, and hired a
- 1:12Speaker 3: lot of people with them. That's the hired a lot
- 1:16Speaker 3: of people.
- 1:17Speaker 2: He didn't want to hire. Yes, I did that too.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I mean we were just talking about that at lunch.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I mean one of the things about it is, you know,
- 1:23Speaker 3: you like, there's some people that you had to hire
- 1:25Speaker 3: even though you didn't like the person, because they were
- 1:27Speaker 3: good at their job, you know. But No, in all seriousness,
- 1:31Speaker 3: really enjoyed my time and doing that. And then the
- 1:35Speaker 3: last two years I've just been covering uh long the
- 1:39Speaker 3: long ones on on Texas football and it feels good, man,
- 1:43Speaker 3: it feels really really good. I'm at that age where
- 1:46Speaker 3: my kids are out of the house.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Now I can slow down.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I don't have to breathe out of a fire or
- 1:52Speaker 3: drink out of a fire hose.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I feel like it's just a lot.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Of fun and it helps when Steve Sarkisian wins just
- 1:59Speaker 3: put it that way. I mean, that makes everybody's day
- 2:02Speaker 3: day a little nicer, and they recruit well. And you know,
- 2:07Speaker 3: Chrystal Conti's got it kind of going in the right direction.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Kevin haltyves been very positive, the Chancellor of the Border Regions,
- 2:15Speaker 3: Chairman of Word Regions. So I feel like, for me, Craig,
- 2:19Speaker 3: I appreciate the comment first of all, but second of all,
- 2:22Speaker 3: guys like you helped me along the way because you
- 2:25Speaker 3: were you were that little little age gap ahead of me,
- 2:28Speaker 3: not much you had gray hair before.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I just let's hit on the word gap.
- 2:35Speaker 3: But but my point is, a young person like myself
- 2:39Speaker 3: needs some people a little bit older than them to
- 2:42Speaker 3: trust them a little bit along the way, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 3: And you were absolutely one of the people that did
- 2:47Speaker 3: that for me.
- 2:48Speaker 2: So I appreciate it very very much.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all sending stuff.
- 2:50Speaker 5: I'm glad y'all took me down memory lane for y'all
- 2:53Speaker 5: y'all's relationship because I didn't know the exact history of it. Obviously,
- 2:58Speaker 5: you both are good at what you do when covering
- 3:01Speaker 5: the University of Texas just happens to be a part.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Of that coverage, so it makes it a little bit better.
- 3:06Speaker 5: But there's also been some lean times too where you
- 3:09Speaker 5: guys had to go through that and understand what it's
- 3:12Speaker 5: all about.
- 3:13Speaker 4: But I want to talk about the present.
- 3:14Speaker 5: I mean, obviously, over the last couple of years, Texas
- 3:17Speaker 5: has done an unbelievable job of getting the bbies back
- 3:21Speaker 5: in the boxes, they like to say, and now they're
- 3:24Speaker 5: ascending in the right direction. Obviously, start his crew and
- 3:29Speaker 5: the one thing that I've always accredited it to was
- 3:32Speaker 5: the fact that he didn't make a ton of changes. Yes,
- 3:35Speaker 5: people were leaving, but they were advancing. People were getting
- 3:40Speaker 5: jobs because of their talent, not because you got to
- 3:43Speaker 5: go because you're not doing your job. How cool has
- 3:46Speaker 5: that been to see the continuity of the coaching.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look, I mean I go back, and.
- 3:55Speaker 3: You're right, I saw a bunch of changes in over
- 3:57Speaker 3: the years, whether when Matt Brown. Look my senior year
- 4:01Speaker 3: of college, I was working for the Tech University of
- 4:03Speaker 3: Texas football team and David McWilliams got let go, and
- 4:07Speaker 3: I was there the day John macviick walked in the building,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and I saw how that transpired where he only kept
- 4:13Speaker 3: one assistant, and then everything else, the recruiting coordinated, everything
- 4:19Speaker 3: else got blown up.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Well, okay, that happens.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And then I saw Mac Brown come in and do
- 4:25Speaker 3: almost the same thing. And some of that needs to happen, absolutely,
- 4:30Speaker 3: But what I thought some coaches did. Now Mac didn't
- 4:35Speaker 3: do this, but some coaches overreacted and kicked the put
- 4:40Speaker 3: too many people on the street, not necessarily the coaches,
- 4:44Speaker 3: but the players, and to your point, Arts, I just
- 4:48Speaker 3: felt like Sark was a took a more measured twenty
- 4:54Speaker 3: first century approach. Does that make sense? It feels more.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I mean, you just don't kick everybody out the door.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I mean football is a player driven sport, and I.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Thought he did a really nice job of that.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He didn't get rewarded for that in year one, not
- 5:12Speaker 3: at all, but eventually I think he did. I mean
- 5:16Speaker 3: keeping I mean Alfred Collins and I mean Tovandre Sweat.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I mean Sweat was the one that was laughing on
- 5:22Speaker 3: the bus and yep, I was in You know, ames and.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Kids make mistakes.
- 5:31Speaker 3: And things happen, but you when you're building the team,
- 5:34Speaker 3: it's not just one and done with everybody. I mean,
- 5:37Speaker 3: you got to figure this thing out. And so to
- 5:39Speaker 3: your point, I really liked. One of the first things
- 5:41Speaker 3: I noticed about that was I didn't feel like the
- 5:44Speaker 3: whole world was on It's you know what right out
- 5:46Speaker 3: of the gate with Sark it was. It was decidedly
- 5:49Speaker 3: different than Charlie Strong, decidedly different than Tom Hammond.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Fused out about that, visiting with Bobby Burton on Texas
- 5:55Speaker 1: Football is where you find his great work and Jerry
- 5:57Speaker 1: Hamlin and the rest of the crew. I want to
- 6:00Speaker 1: ask you about the change. One thing that you have
- 6:03Speaker 1: done very well over the over the years is navigated
- 6:06Speaker 1: the currents in an ever changing world of what the
- 6:10Speaker 1: recruiting world is all about. Uh again my opinion. You
- 6:14Speaker 1: you let me know how you feel about this. I
- 6:17Speaker 1: would say never, never and never is a pretty powerful world.
- 6:21Speaker 1: But never in the history of recruiting have the waters
- 6:25Speaker 1: been more challenging to navigate for a coaching staff than
- 6:31Speaker 1: they are right now because of n I l uh
- 6:35Speaker 1: and and then of course the portal has its own place.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But and I know there was there's been some confusions,
- 6:42Speaker 1: some conjecture, uh, some uncertainty among long worn fans about
- 6:47Speaker 1: you know, is is is Stark letting Rome burn? Is
- 6:50Speaker 1: he just fiddling while all these idea of Texas Tech,
- 6:52Speaker 1: of the five million dollars deal and all this other
- 6:53Speaker 1: story sort of thing, Uh is, how is the money
- 6:57Speaker 1: being managed for all of this? I mean, these are
- 7:00Speaker 1: these are some really really tumultuous times in the in
- 7:04Speaker 1: that particular phase of the football industry, in college football.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I didn't in a very short period of time, so
- 7:11Speaker 3: it I mean it changed on a dime, right from
- 7:14Speaker 3: can't pay anybody in Money's all of a sudden in
- 7:16Speaker 3: IL is legal to all of a sudden two or
- 7:18Speaker 3: three years later, we have a salary capital.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Well, is that a hard cap? Is that a soft cap?
- 7:22Speaker 3: With what you can do with n IL additional out
- 7:25Speaker 3: third party sark is not asleep at the wheel. That
- 7:31Speaker 3: would be very clear to me someone that's involved, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 3: in it.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I think that.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I look at what they've done and how they've done it.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I think in this this.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Era of a salary cap, even if it's a soft
- 7:46Speaker 3: salary cap, at this point, I think they're saving their
- 7:51Speaker 3: their powder a little bit powder d yeah, for for
- 7:56Speaker 3: big fish. And you know there's a couple of guys
- 7:59Speaker 3: right right now now that are out there that they're
- 8:01Speaker 3: trying to make sure that they become a part of
- 8:03Speaker 3: this class. I mean, my take on this time in
- 8:08Speaker 3: college football and recruiting is the problem you have is
- 8:15Speaker 3: at least there was black and white understanding up until
- 8:21Speaker 3: about four years ago. Okay, now it's all shades of gray.
- 8:27Speaker 3: I mean, that's all there is. You don't it's not
- 8:30Speaker 3: only do you not know if you're in an ocean
- 8:32Speaker 3: on a boat, you don't know if you're actually in
- 8:34Speaker 3: a river or or a Lake. I mean, you don't
- 8:39Speaker 3: know what you're at, what the platform is you're actually
- 8:42Speaker 3: dealing with, because from year to year it could be
- 8:45Speaker 3: I mean it literally could be nil, Hardcap, soft Cap. Oh, well,
- 8:50Speaker 3: they're all third party, do you. I mean, that's what
- 8:53Speaker 3: Brandon Harrison, general manager at Texas, Steve Sarkusian, Crys Delcante
- 8:58Speaker 3: and all of Sark's assistance are dealing with right now.
- 9:03Speaker 3: The other thing that's happened, he used to it used
- 9:06Speaker 3: to be all about an assistance.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Relationship with a coach.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Well, now that's become it hasn't become third wheel on
- 9:17Speaker 3: this thing, you know what I mean. But now that
- 9:20Speaker 3: relationship is not necessarily as big as nil in some
- 9:23Speaker 3: respects it temporarily gets set aside. Yes, and so you're
- 9:27Speaker 3: gonna go play for this guy. But you're really it
- 9:30Speaker 3: is odd and it's different. At the same time. I
- 9:34Speaker 3: will tell you all this, having witnessed other recruiting teams
- 9:40Speaker 3: out there, I'm not so sure that Sark and his
- 9:44Speaker 3: staff haven't navigated those waters to Linda Metaphor cleaner than anybody.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I mean, they've done this recruited class. I just brought
- 9:55Speaker 3: in its legit and I think they're gonna do. I
- 10:00Speaker 3: don't know that it will have a number one class
- 10:01Speaker 3: this year, but I think they're going to have pretty close.
- 10:04Speaker 3: So Dia Bell just got ranked the number one quarterback
- 10:06Speaker 3: in the country, the young man out of South Florida,
- 10:09Speaker 3: And so I just I feel really good about where
- 10:12Speaker 3: things are at because Sark has proven himself very what's
- 10:16Speaker 3: the word of malleable, you know what I mean.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He's been able to know the one who's who has
- 10:21Speaker 1: said the reason the dinosaurs are extinct because they were
- 10:25Speaker 1: not adaptable and they didn't adjust Sark has said that
- 10:28Speaker 1: throughout his time here.
- 10:29Speaker 2: So what you're saying is he's he said.
- 10:31Speaker 1: You have to be adjustable and adaptable or you'll wind
- 10:34Speaker 1: up extinct.
- 10:34Speaker 2: This like you can't.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I mean, you think that Davos Wueni didn't take a
- 10:39Speaker 3: kid from the portal for three.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Years, now, what is Dabbo doing?
- 10:43Speaker 3: But but Sark did that right away because he realized
- 10:49Speaker 3: where where it was all headed and nil, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 3: and he got on it pretty quick. So I mean,
- 10:57Speaker 3: while being the play caller and the CEO of I mean,
- 11:01Speaker 3: he's I think he's a very talented People do not
- 11:04Speaker 3: give Stee Herkysan enough credit for being talented in that
- 11:08Speaker 3: area as well as just a play not just a
- 11:10Speaker 3: play caller.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Yeah, his people's skills are top notch, and that is
- 11:14Speaker 5: why he's been able to build those relationships keep those
- 11:18Speaker 5: relationships strong. But not only that, to your point, he's
- 11:22Speaker 5: kind of managed it in a way that a lot
- 11:24Speaker 5: of folks may have cracked under the pressure, but he's
- 11:27Speaker 5: found a way to get that done. So I'm excited
- 11:30Speaker 5: about what's coming up, and speaking of that, I'll be
- 11:33Speaker 5: remiss if I didn't ask you about the arch Manning situation,
- 11:36Speaker 5: because everybody wants to talk about that, and tomorrow, I
- 11:40Speaker 5: guarantee it is gonna be a chaotic day. But it's
- 11:43Speaker 5: not just Archs. The Texas Longhorns are coming to town.
- 11:46Speaker 5: And we saw what happened last year when we were
- 11:48Speaker 5: even in Dallas. Now this is really about to ramp up.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Obviously bringing them here, there was no doubt it was
- 11:54Speaker 5: his team. Now everybody's moving forward. But the expectations have
- 12:00Speaker 5: always to me, I've always said they need to be
- 12:02Speaker 5: tempered a little bit. If you play quarterback at the
- 12:04Speaker 5: University of Texas, there's a lot of expectations that goes
- 12:08Speaker 5: with that and the first mistake. Some people will jump
- 12:11Speaker 5: out the ship, but the ones that are smart enough
- 12:14Speaker 5: to understand he's navigated these waters. And I'm talking about
- 12:17Speaker 5: coach Sark once again to the point that now here
- 12:20Speaker 5: you go, kid, Now.
- 12:21Speaker 3: It's time for you to roll first. David McWilliams. Back
- 12:26Speaker 3: in nineteen eighty nine, they were going Texas was going
- 12:31Speaker 3: through this quarterback rotation. Forbes quote, Yes, Donovan Forbes and
- 12:37Speaker 3: Shannon Kelly and Mark Murdoch.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I mean, it was a crew coming through.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And he's like, and I don't know about this your quote,
- 12:44Speaker 3: but he to me is like, I mean, it's the
- 12:47Speaker 3: first time I ever heard the most popular person on
- 12:49Speaker 3: Texas football Texas campus is the backup quarterback.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's the quote I've heard, And it was attributed to
- 12:54Speaker 1: Donovan Forbes, although it could have been uttered back in
- 12:56Speaker 1: the forties.
- 12:58Speaker 3: We know.
- 13:00Speaker 2: David McQueen is the first person I ever heard that from.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and he was saying it to a group of
- 13:04Speaker 3: like ten people, yeah, fifteen, But I just remember that,
- 13:08Speaker 3: And so when I'm thinking of arch Manning and Quincy,
- 13:12Speaker 3: arch Manning gets the bigger cheer when it comes out.
- 13:15Speaker 3: And I was like man the thirty five years later,
- 13:18Speaker 3: it's the same now. I don't know if it's going
- 13:20Speaker 3: to be true this year, but I and also I
- 13:25Speaker 3: was talking to the guys earlier, I just envision this
- 13:29Speaker 3: media scrum tomorrow where if you it's like if you
- 13:33Speaker 3: had the selfie sticks, there's gonna be like seventy five
- 13:35Speaker 3: selfie sticks reaching up into the air trying to get
- 13:38Speaker 3: a glimpse of arch Manning.
- 13:40Speaker 2: If you had a.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Aerial shot of that, it's gonna look like they're all
- 13:44Speaker 3: there for like Kim Kardashian, right, or a super Bowl.
- 13:48Speaker 2: A super Bowl everybody wants a little sound bite.
- 13:51Speaker 1: But my prediction, by the way tomorrow is that and
- 13:54Speaker 1: from folctional, No, we're in what we call the digital drive,
- 13:58Speaker 1: which is the upstairs which I don't know if cam
- 14:01Speaker 1: can pan it around to show you, but uh, it's
- 14:03Speaker 1: wall to wall live radio and audio shows like for example,
- 14:08Speaker 1: our friends at Textags or to our left, they do
- 14:11Speaker 1: digital video and audio, same thing going on, same thing
- 14:14Speaker 1: with yours, ye your program boyby and and and there's
- 14:17Speaker 1: a lot of live radio as well. But it's digital
- 14:19Speaker 1: drive because it's not all radio. There's it's evolved just
- 14:24Speaker 1: like everything else, has to wherever folks are getting their
- 14:27Speaker 1: information anyway. So this wraps all the way around. The
- 14:31Speaker 1: second level. On the bottom floor is the main press
- 14:35Speaker 1: conference level where Sark will be and we'll bring that
- 14:37Speaker 1: to you that that news conference tomorrow and uh, the
- 14:41Speaker 1: players will be in breakouts down there. My prediction is
- 14:45Speaker 1: that the players never make it upstairs.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I would not well at least, yeah, I.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Bet, I bet they.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Michael Taff, I know everybody loves him, has a long run,
- 14:56Speaker 3: but I bet he makes it up.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I started to say, I started to say to sixteen,
- 15:00Speaker 1: but I better define right, number six eight exactly, you know,
- 15:04Speaker 1: so yeah, no, so yeah, yeah, Taff may be up here,
- 15:09Speaker 1: Anthony Hill might be.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but I don't know the number sixteen. I
- 15:13Speaker 2: don't know.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:15Speaker 1: But to Harge's point, that's what the media that surrounds Texas.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And you asked me when I was on your program
- 15:23Speaker 1: about the twenty twenty four season, and I said, if
- 15:26Speaker 1: nothing else, it was the proving ground. It was the
- 15:30Speaker 1: opportunity for Sark and his staff to show not only
- 15:35Speaker 1: was the program here's the air quotes sec ready that
- 15:39Speaker 1: a lot of folks raised that question that, by the way,
- 15:42Speaker 1: that that quote came up more often than Texas's back
- 15:46Speaker 1: is yeah, back all that stuff. But anyway, not only
- 15:50Speaker 1: was it the proving ground to show that Texas wasn't
- 15:53Speaker 1: deep quote unquote sec ready, but also the proof of
- 15:57Speaker 1: the work that Sart, that the staff and that the
- 16:01Speaker 1: program has put in over these past three years, and
- 16:05Speaker 1: then going from five and eight then uh to you know,
- 16:09Speaker 1: to eight and five, five and seven to eight and
- 16:10Speaker 1: five and then and then the back to back double
- 16:13Speaker 1: digit wins. I mean, I remember a lot of people
- 16:15Speaker 1: talking about how Sark was thirteen and twelve after his
- 16:17Speaker 1: first two seasons, yep, and since then he's twenty five
- 16:20Speaker 1: and five.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Yeah, totally different conversation now.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, I think that what I talked about when
- 16:26Speaker 3: I think about last year to your point and go
- 16:29Speaker 3: and I take myself back to a year ago this
- 16:33Speaker 3: week when we were in Dallas at the SEC Media Days,
- 16:37Speaker 3: and it was is Texas sec ready?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Is Texas a one hit wonder?
- 16:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Because if you remember they were what that year, twelve
- 16:46Speaker 2: and two semi final loss to Washington. That's correct.
- 16:50Speaker 4: The question wasn't the greatest game Michael Pennick's played he.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Was a freak. I mean, he was great. He deserved
- 16:57Speaker 2: that because he played that well.
- 16:59Speaker 3: But my point, my point is the question last year,
- 17:01Speaker 3: is SEC ready and was Texas a one hit wonder? No,
- 17:05Speaker 3: they weren't a one hit wonder, and yes Texas is one.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Uh As, is you ready? And I will say from
- 17:11Speaker 3: talking to other people like I just like you do
- 17:14Speaker 3: you visit with other colleagues that are at other universities
- 17:19Speaker 3: following their teams. That was the number one surprise for
- 17:23Speaker 3: them as it related to Texas. They did not think
- 17:26Speaker 3: Texas or Oklahoma was ready for the line of scrimmage.
- 17:31Speaker 3: And other than Georgia, Texas didn't play a better team
- 17:35Speaker 3: on line of scrimmage than what they saw in practice
- 17:37Speaker 3: every day. Correct now, now Georgia, I get it. I
- 17:41Speaker 3: mean they looked, they looked terrific. But Texas was ready
- 17:45Speaker 3: on the line of scrimmage.
- 17:46Speaker 5: And they started that four years ago when he said
- 17:49Speaker 5: that we need to get bigger, we need to get better.
- 17:52Speaker 4: And we got to start up front. And that's exactly
- 17:54Speaker 4: what they did.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, big humans.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Uh final thing here, Bobby, what this was something I
- 18:00Speaker 1: was asked on another radio show today. Somebody asked me
- 18:05Speaker 1: Texas will be in that national title conversation, YadA yadas
- 18:10Speaker 1: once and for if and they asked me to fill
- 18:11Speaker 1: in the blank, and I said, if the key performers
- 18:18Speaker 1: stay healthy and effective throughout that because I still I
- 18:23Speaker 1: salute when yours for having a fight through everything he
- 18:25Speaker 1: went through last year to put the team in position,
- 18:28Speaker 1: but we all know he wasn't one hundred percent physically
- 18:31Speaker 1: throughout the course of the entirety of the season. If
- 18:35Speaker 1: Arch is able to stay that healthy, stay healthy all
- 18:38Speaker 1: the way through, and other key guys, including in that
- 18:42Speaker 1: offensive line, where yes, it's only one returning starter, but.
- 18:44Speaker 2: There's a lot of guys who played a lot of
- 18:46Speaker 2: snaps who will be there.
- 18:48Speaker 1: And then I thought, yeah, they can be in that
- 18:50Speaker 1: conversation because these guys are talented enough and they're well
- 18:52Speaker 1: coached enough of that. That was my take on it,
- 18:55Speaker 1: but I'm interested in your take on it that they
- 18:58Speaker 1: can be in that conversation to play for these kinds
- 19:02Speaker 1: of things.
- 19:03Speaker 3: If offensive line, yeah, because I do think the defensive
- 19:07Speaker 3: line is going to be there. I think they brought
- 19:09Speaker 3: in enough help that had experience, whether it's a Marod Watson,
- 19:14Speaker 3: there's you know, freshman all American. You've got Alex January
- 19:17Speaker 3: kind of growing up. Travis Shaw's played a lot of
- 19:19Speaker 3: snaps for UNC. And they've got the edge guys with
- 19:25Speaker 3: Colin and Ethan Burke and Colton Vosx healthier. I think
- 19:29Speaker 3: they got the defensive front. I'm the number one concern
- 19:33Speaker 3: for me is the offensive line being ready relatively early.
- 19:37Speaker 2: In the season.
- 19:38Speaker 3: So you've got two games in the first five where
- 19:43Speaker 3: talent level is gonna be somewhat similar. Ohio State's gonna
- 19:46Speaker 3: have the talent Texas does, right, We saw that. I
- 19:49Speaker 3: mean even though they graduated, Texas graduated heavy two. Both
- 19:53Speaker 3: teams put a lot of guy but they both got dudes. Yeah,
- 19:55Speaker 3: they both had and they both a lot of them
- 19:57Speaker 3: are gone. Yep, from this year to last, from that year,
- 20:00Speaker 3: this year. But then Florida, I'm telling you they they
- 20:05Speaker 3: came on late last year. DJ Lagway did not play
- 20:08Speaker 3: against the Longhorns. He has got a he's got a
- 20:12Speaker 3: as good an arm as you're going to see in
- 20:13Speaker 3: college football. Now he's a great quarterback yet let's find out.
- 20:17Speaker 3: But they've got a run game. They may have the
- 20:20Speaker 3: best offensive line in the SEC. You know, they got
- 20:24Speaker 3: dudes on defense, just whether they can get them in
- 20:26Speaker 3: the right position.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I think you could.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I mean the first those two first big games are big,
- 20:34Speaker 3: and so you've got to have your offensive line ready early.
- 20:38Speaker 3: And you're coming back with really four out of five
- 20:41Speaker 3: new starters. That's not necessarily like I love the fact
- 20:46Speaker 3: that Tech's had four starters returning and went to Michigan. Yep,
- 20:50Speaker 3: you know what I mean on the offensive line. Now
- 20:52Speaker 3: you're you got one of five and you're going to Columbus. Yeah,
- 20:57Speaker 3: that's so my points he is, I'm concerned about that early.
- 21:05Speaker 3: I think they'll be fine. They're really good, really talented.
- 21:08Speaker 3: That's not the question. The question is where they gel.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Yep.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate you doing this. It's awful lot of fun.
- 21:13Speaker 1: We'll see each other on down the road.
- 21:15Speaker 2: For sure. You're going to Columbus, aren't you.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah, we got a tailgate going on up there.
- 21:21Speaker 2: That's right.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Okay, beautiful bride, she's along for the ride, and more
- 21:27Speaker 3: than right. She's been very, very helpful.
- 21:29Speaker 1: She actually stole a chair from the dining room and
- 21:31Speaker 1: we'd have enough sat She did Bobby burn on Texas Football.
- 21:37Speaker 1: That's where you catch his outstanding work and Jerry Hammla
- 21:40Speaker 1: and the rest of the staff as well. We've got
- 21:43Speaker 1: some more topics we're gonna get to when we come
- 21:45Speaker 1: back here from Atlanta, the College Football Hall of Fame
- 21:47Speaker 1: here on day number one of SEC Football Media Day.
- 21:50Speaker 2: So I'm thirteen underd the zone
