- 0:23Well, hey, everyone.
- 0:24Welcome to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 0:27It is so great to be with you
- 0:29here on the Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 0:32It is Saturday, June 6th, 2026.
- 0:35What does that mean?
- 0:36Besides it being a Saturday, that's the day
- 0:38we start a brand new week.
- 0:40We go from a Saturday and we finish
- 0:41up on a Friday for our Sunday week.
- 0:44Great to be with you.
- 0:45We start a brand new master topic that
- 0:47we kick off.
- 0:47If this is your first time, ladies and
- 0:49gentlemen, joining us, I want to take the
- 0:51opportunity to say welcome and thank you.
- 0:54If you've been here one time, five times,
- 0:56ten times, fifteen, a hundred, or even more,
- 0:58I'd like to take this opportunity to say
- 1:00not only thank you, but I'd also like
- 1:01to say the words welcome back.
- 1:03I really do appreciate people that enjoy the
- 1:05quality content of the show that I produce
- 1:08and want to make that part of their
- 1:10daily lives.
- 1:11If you guys are thirsty, hungry, or what
- 1:13have you, feel free to go grab something,
- 1:15whether that's sour water, whether that's another beverage,
- 1:18soda, or another snack, whatever it is, feel
- 1:22free to grab that and come on back
- 1:24to the show.
- 1:25Don't forget to check out, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:27BelieveMeAchieved.com and where my amazing, inspiring, and
- 1:30courageous, which you do, incidentally, after the show
- 1:33is over.
- 1:34All right, guys, let's kick this show off.
- 1:36In case you didn't know who I am,
- 1:37oh, allow me to introduce myself.
- 1:39My name is John Seymourly.
- 1:41I am a serial entrepreneur.
- 1:43I'm an engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast
- 1:46host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student, passionate lifelong
- 1:50learner, and now I'm so grateful to be
- 1:53a published author.
- 1:55Really grateful for that, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:57And just to let you know, in this
- 1:59particular episode of Inspirations for Your Life, we
- 2:03kick off, as I said, a brand new
- 2:05weekly theme, Compassion Over Perfect.
- 2:09Incidentally, this is series five.
- 2:11Me, we're on the air our fifth year,
- 2:14and it is show number 24.
- 2:17This is episode number one.
- 2:19And today's specific focus is how to drop
- 2:21the performance.
- 2:22I know so many people out there, they
- 2:24want to just perform, but they do it
- 2:28for the wrong reasons.
- 2:29They do it to get attention.
- 2:30If you're tired of feeling like you have
- 2:32to be on all the time, impress everyone
- 2:37in the room and turn every moment into
- 2:39content.
- 2:41This one is for you.
- 2:42I love creating content, but there are some
- 2:44times, ladies and gentlemen, when I unplug and
- 2:47that's not content that I share.
- 2:49Why you don't need to impress everyone to
- 2:52be valuable.
- 2:54How perfectionism is really a fear in a
- 2:58nice outfit.
- 2:59And I think these are things that a
- 3:01lot of people don't understand and they don't
- 3:03realize what they mean.
- 3:06But they're important, guys.
- 3:08They're important.
- 3:09And why is it that your worth is
- 3:12not a productivity scoreboard?
- 3:15Well, your value comes down to who you
- 3:18are, right?
- 3:19And what you deliver.
- 3:21But it's not about trying to compete with
- 3:24someone.
- 3:25Because you see, we're all at different levels
- 3:27in life.
- 3:27And I think the sooner we get that,
- 3:29the sooner we actually level up.
- 3:32So, ladies and gentlemen, why do people connect
- 3:34more to what's real than what's flawless?
- 3:37Well, there's a lot of flawless stuff out
- 3:39there over the internet, right?
- 3:40There's all kinds of scams.
- 3:42There's all kinds of, let's say, fake information.
- 3:47And a lot of people believe these get
- 3:51-rich-quick schemes or they believe these people
- 3:53that have these amazing things.
- 3:56Like, there's this one guy, I'm not going
- 3:57to mention his name, but you probably know
- 3:59who I mean.
- 4:00He rents cars to impress people.
- 4:03I'm not going to do that.
- 4:05He rents cars by the hour to impress
- 4:08people, to show people how successful he is.
- 4:11He doesn't own any of these cars.
- 4:13So, he might rent like two, three, four,
- 4:15five cars to show everybody how much wealth
- 4:17he has.
- 4:19That's bragging.
- 4:21And that is not cool, guys.
- 4:23So, how do you step back from always
- 4:26performing and start actually living?
- 4:28I think the reason and the understanding here
- 4:31is that we step back.
- 4:33And when we step back and when we
- 4:35acknowledge our accomplishments, we're going to find that
- 4:38other people do it too.
- 4:39Of course, it's nice when other people will
- 4:42acknowledge it first, but we need to be
- 4:44the ones that acknowledge our performance, our milestones
- 4:49first.
- 4:49That's where it is.
- 4:50If we can't be happy with who we
- 4:52are, then how the heck is someone else
- 4:54going to be happy, right?
- 4:55But do it for ourselves first, not for
- 4:57others, right?
- 4:58You're going to hear powerful practical reminders that
- 5:01you probably will like.
- 5:02Like, you're allowed to show the unedited version
- 5:06of your life.
- 5:07So, I do what I call backstage scenes
- 5:11of shows and stuff like that.
- 5:13Do I record my whole life?
- 5:15No, but I do record some personal things
- 5:17like what goes into a show and some
- 5:19of the challenges.
- 5:20And we have this new thing we started
- 5:22on YouTube not too long ago.
- 5:25And it's a pretty cool thing if you
- 5:27ask me.
- 5:29We have the John C.
- 5:30Morley Serial Entrepreneur channel, which you're probably familiar
- 5:33with.
- 5:34And it's actually under the brand, ladies and
- 5:37gentlemen, of JCM Academy, in case you didn't
- 5:40know what that is.
- 5:42So, the playlist that you actually want to
- 5:44go to, because that's probably the best place
- 5:46for you to really understand this, is this
- 5:50specific playlist.
- 5:51And the playlist is this, The Drain-to
- 5:54-Driven Author Journey and Book Moment.
- 5:59That's where you want to go.
- 6:02And that's where I share a lot of
- 6:04backstage stuff, stuff that I don't put on
- 6:07stage.
- 6:08So, you're allowed to show the unedited version
- 6:10of your life.
- 6:10And, you know, today I was leaving on
- 6:14a trip.
- 6:15And, you know, first thing people say, oh
- 6:17my gosh, don't shoot from an airport, right?
- 6:19Nothing wrong with that.
- 6:20But the thing is, when you shoot, realize
- 6:24why you're doing it.
- 6:24You're not doing it to impress people.
- 6:26You're doing it to be authentic.
- 6:28And I think when you're authentic, you're like,
- 6:30hey, you know, I get this guy.
- 6:31I get this lady.
- 6:32Like, this person's living a normal life.
- 6:35And these are things that show that you
- 6:37are living a life like that.
- 6:40Performing all the time leads straight to emotional,
- 6:43guess what?
- 6:44What is that word?
- 6:45I wrote a big book on it.
- 6:46Burnout.
- 6:49Because you're having to impress this one.
- 6:52You're raising the stakes with all kinds of
- 6:55energy.
- 6:55And it is so darn exhausting, guys.
- 6:58It's exhausting.
- 7:00And you're not going to be able to
- 7:01keep up with this your entire life.
- 7:03You're going to be like, you know what,
- 7:04John, something has to give.
- 7:05I can't do this anymore.
- 7:07Right?
- 7:08So, stop trying to perform.
- 7:11I love performing.
- 7:12But when I perform, it's not to impress
- 7:15an audience.
- 7:17It's to come out there and be authentic.
- 7:19It's to just be John.
- 7:21When I come out to a stage, whether
- 7:23there's a few people or there's thousands or
- 7:25millions, I come out there and I tell
- 7:28my story.
- 7:29Just like I'm talking to one of you.
- 7:31There might be thousands or more in the
- 7:33room, but I'm having a one-on-one
- 7:35conversation with you personally.
- 7:38And that's how my trainings go.
- 7:40That's how my author talks go.
- 7:44A bad day does not equal a bad
- 7:46life.
- 7:46You know, let me see if I can
- 7:48talk to you about this.
- 7:49So, maybe you've had a time in your
- 7:51life when you got up in the morning.
- 7:53And maybe you, I don't know, maybe you
- 7:56did something like you broke a or you
- 7:59stubbed your toe.
- 8:00Right?
- 8:02You could have done any one of these
- 8:04things.
- 8:06And the thing is, when this happens, of
- 8:08course, there's that shock moment.
- 8:09Right?
- 8:10Maybe there's a little bit of discomfort.
- 8:12But the important thing is to dismiss it.
- 8:14Okay.
- 8:15I stubbed my toe.
- 8:16Yes, that hurt.
- 8:18The rest of my day is going to
- 8:19be great, though.
- 8:20In fact, the discomfort is already starting to
- 8:22leave my foot.
- 8:23So, that's how it works.
- 8:25When we change our mindset, our receptors start
- 8:28to respond to that.
- 8:29I know it sounds really bizarre, but our
- 8:32mind controls what we perceive.
- 8:35Okay?
- 8:35So, a bad day doesn't equal a bad
- 8:37life.
- 8:37And if something's not going the way you
- 8:39want, no need to harp on it.
- 8:40Just say, hey, okay, that wasn't a great
- 8:43start to the day.
- 8:45The rest of my day is going to
- 8:46be awesome.
- 8:47Right?
- 8:47You probably had those situations.
- 8:49There could be numerous ones.
- 8:50It could be getting fired.
- 8:52And I'm like, oh, my gosh, what's going
- 8:53to happen?
- 8:53The rest of my day is going to
- 8:54be great.
- 8:54Or the rest of my life is going
- 8:55to be great.
- 8:55Maybe that was a thing that was supposed
- 8:56to happen to me.
- 8:58Or it could be something like, you know,
- 9:00you're in a store.
- 9:02And somebody says something to you.
- 9:04And it wasn't nice.
- 9:05I was actually somewhere one time.
- 9:08And somebody said to me, could you keep
- 9:09it down?
- 9:11And I wasn't even that loud.
- 9:13But I said, so what, to myself?
- 9:15I was courteous and respectful.
- 9:16But I said, the rest of my day
- 9:17is going to be great.
- 9:18And it was.
- 9:20So that's the whole thing.
- 9:22Just because you have a bad moment doesn't
- 9:26mean it's going to be a bad day.
- 9:29Right?
- 9:30But if you put the preface in your
- 9:32mind, oh, my gosh, the rest of my
- 9:34day is going to be horrible.
- 9:36This is going to kill me.
- 9:37Right?
- 9:38Maybe you broke an heirloom or something like
- 9:42a Yadro or something that was special in
- 9:45the family.
- 9:46And yeah, there was some sentimental emotion to
- 9:48it.
- 9:49But, you know, once you dismiss it, I
- 9:50broke it.
- 9:51The rest of my day is going to
- 9:53be OK.
- 9:53OK.
- 9:54And I think once we know that and
- 9:57we get over that fact, oh, my gosh,
- 9:59like it's going to be OK.
- 10:02Maybe you had a situation.
- 10:04I don't know.
- 10:04Maybe somebody broke it.
- 10:05Maybe you got robbed, unfortunately.
- 10:08And now the rest of your day is
- 10:10horrible.
- 10:10But, you know, the rest of your day
- 10:11is going to be great because now you're
- 10:13aware of it.
- 10:14Now you're going to get a security system.
- 10:16Now you're going to do what you need
- 10:17to do.
- 10:18Now you're going to stop living in fear.
- 10:20And you're going to start living life at
- 10:23the true core.
- 10:25See, a bad life happens because people put
- 10:29the actions in over and over again.
- 10:31I'm not this.
- 10:32I'm not that.
- 10:33I'm not enough.
- 10:34Of course, if you keep telling yourself that,
- 10:36sure, you're going to believe that.
- 10:38So if you tell yourself, I am enough,
- 10:39I am great, I am abundant, I am
- 10:41this, I am that, you will be that.
- 10:45It's not a light switch.
- 10:46It just happens.
- 10:47But people get into this rhythm so much
- 10:49that they start pulling the little bit of
- 10:54success they have and the little bit of
- 10:55good down the drain.
- 10:57You don't need, ladies and gentlemen, to earn
- 11:03rest or broadcast every moment to prove you're
- 11:07growing.
- 11:08I broadcast and I do stuff because I
- 11:10love doing it.
- 11:11Do I do it every waking moment of
- 11:13the day?
- 11:13No.
- 11:15Do I spend some time doing it during
- 11:16the day?
- 11:16Yes.
- 11:17But I love sharing those moments.
- 11:20But those moments are never to prove to
- 11:22anybody anything.
- 11:23I don't go record something that I'm getting
- 11:28a new car or that I'm buying something
- 11:30unless something has to do with tech or
- 11:32something like that.
- 11:33But I don't do it to boast.
- 11:35I don't do it rub anybody's face in
- 11:37it.
- 11:37And I think a lot of content creators
- 11:39do that.
- 11:40I do that so that it can help
- 11:43the greater good of all concerned.
- 11:45And I think that's a very important thing,
- 11:47is that when we do it from the
- 11:49heart, when we do it with the right
- 11:51premise, it works.
- 11:55You are allowed, ladies and gentlemen, to exist
- 11:58without proving anything to anyone.
- 12:02You don't have to prove anything unless you
- 12:05want to.
- 12:08And that might be hard for some people.
- 12:10Like, you know, they always have to be
- 12:12right.
- 12:14But if you're wrong sometimes and you're humble,
- 12:18it'll be easy.
- 12:20So like I said to you, when maybe
- 12:23you stub your toe or you break something
- 12:26or maybe you burn your hand or you
- 12:28put it under hot water or something like
- 12:29that, and you start with, oh my gosh,
- 12:32yeah, OK, that moment.
- 12:34Now the rest of my day is going
- 12:35to be good.
- 12:36I remember being in a situation many years
- 12:38ago, probably when I was in my single
- 12:40digits, before I was even out of grammar
- 12:43school.
- 12:44We were down the shore.
- 12:46We were in our bungalow.
- 12:47We hadn't rebuilt our house yet.
- 12:49And this was our summer place.
- 12:51My parents bought it like the year I
- 12:52was born.
- 12:54And the place was all basically all wood,
- 12:56was one floor.
- 12:58It's the kind of place that had basically
- 13:01a concept that there was really no heat.
- 13:07We had some kind of basic heat, but
- 13:09it wasn't anything great.
- 13:11And it was all hot air, blowed heat.
- 13:15And so I remember one night we were
- 13:17watching TV.
- 13:19OK, it was a storm coming, thunder, lightning.
- 13:22And during that storm, I turned the TV
- 13:25off.
- 13:26First, my dad's like, turn the TV off.
- 13:27It's not good to be watching TV when
- 13:32there's a storm because it could attract.
- 13:35Well, we said the same thing to my
- 13:36mom.
- 13:36She was talking, I think, to my grandmother
- 13:38on my dad's side.
- 13:40And at the time, that was over an
- 13:42hour and a half away where we lived
- 13:43up north.
- 13:45And so like, mom, get off the phone,
- 13:47get off the phone.
- 13:47I know, I know.
- 13:48I'm talking to grandma.
- 13:49We're almost done.
- 13:50And within, I'm going to say, less than
- 13:54a minute, bang.
- 13:58What was that?
- 14:01She goes, mom, I think I got to
- 14:02call you back.
- 14:03She hangs up the phone.
- 14:06What was that?
- 14:08I think we got hit by lightning.
- 14:11And within a few moments, that shock wore
- 14:16off.
- 14:17We called, actually, 911 to call the responders,
- 14:27the fire department.
- 14:27We smelled something that was burning.
- 14:31We couldn't put our hands out.
- 14:32So my dad had had myself, my mom,
- 14:37flee over to our neighbors, which is right
- 14:38next door.
- 14:39And my dad's kind of staying behind, but
- 14:41he's getting out of house and waiting for
- 14:44the fire department first responders.
- 14:47And they did conclude that we were hit.
- 14:49So did we worry about storms every time?
- 14:53No, but we were cautious.
- 14:54We had lightning rods installed on our house.
- 15:00And we're a lot more cautious whenever there's
- 15:03a storm.
- 15:03We get off the phone.
- 15:05When we rebuilt our house down there, we
- 15:06made sure it had lightning rods built into
- 15:09structure.
- 15:10Something that was never done back then.
- 15:14And to know that that moment didn't change
- 15:19our lives in a bad way, it actually
- 15:22made it better.
- 15:22Because now whenever we're around lightning, thunder, we
- 15:26respect it.
- 15:28We respect it.
- 15:29We could have had this premise that everything's
- 15:32going to be bad the rest of our
- 15:33life.
- 15:33It's not.
- 15:36If you're ready, ladies and gentlemen, to breathe,
- 15:40log off from the pressure to be perfect.
- 15:43I know even my dad wanted me to
- 15:45be perfect when I was younger.
- 15:47And I was like, I can't do this.
- 15:49Until there was a point when my grandmother
- 15:51stepped in and said, you know what, Jack,
- 15:52you weren't perfect.
- 15:54And reconnect with who you are, not just
- 15:58what you produce.
- 16:01And don't be afraid, ladies and gentlemen, to
- 16:03hit play, even if it's not perfect, even
- 16:09if you think it's not done.
- 16:12It's okay to play that out.
- 16:16So compassion was very important.
- 16:19And I think a lot of times people
- 16:21feel they have to perform because if they
- 16:23don't perform, then they're not good.
- 16:25They're not a success.
- 16:26You don't always have to be performing.
- 16:29Let's take athletes for a moment.
- 16:32They're on the field, they catch the ball,
- 16:34whether it's baseball, basketball, football, whatever it is.
- 16:39Well, now we've got the FIFA cup, right?
- 16:41The soccer cup, big thing happening in the
- 16:43United States of 2026.
- 16:47Off the field.
- 16:48Okay.
- 16:49You don't have to be a performer, but
- 16:53a lot of younger athletes believe that the
- 16:55only way they've got fame is because they've
- 16:58got to perform off the field.
- 16:59They don't.
- 17:02People I have found respond more to human
- 17:08compassion, to kindness, to truth, to authenticity.
- 17:14That's what people respond to every single day.
- 17:19There are people that go out there, even
- 17:22other keynote speakers like myself, but they go
- 17:24out there with the concept to perform.
- 17:26When I go out there, it's not to
- 17:28perform.
- 17:29Okay.
- 17:29Is it a performance?
- 17:31Not really.
- 17:33I'm going out there to give a talk,
- 17:35to have a conversation with my audience.
- 17:38Are there different performances that happen like lights
- 17:40and sound?
- 17:41Yes, but they don't take away from the
- 17:45authenticity, that compassion.
- 17:48Okay.
- 17:49I never say to somebody, I'm going to
- 17:51do a performance.
- 17:52If I play the piano, that's a performance.
- 17:54This is not a performance.
- 17:56This is a conversation.
- 17:58This is an author talk.
- 17:59This is a keynote.
- 18:01This is a workshop.
- 18:04They're not performances.
- 18:06They're truthful exchanges between myself, the audience, the
- 18:12participants, and then their reactions.
- 18:16So many people I talk to, especially people
- 18:19just getting out of college, feel they need
- 18:21to perform all the time.
- 18:26You're not on trial 24 seven.
- 18:30People feel that if they let their guard
- 18:32down for one minute, they're going to lose
- 18:36out.
- 18:39And I want to say something to that.
- 18:41Maybe your work is very competitive.
- 18:43I get that, but you got to trust
- 18:48sometimes and you've got to be authentic.
- 18:51You got to stop performing because you think
- 18:57that's going to get the boss attention.
- 19:00What's going to get the boss attention is
- 19:02the numbers.
- 19:03Yes.
- 19:03But someone who's authentic, someone who cares about
- 19:07the product, the services, and the clients or
- 19:09customers you service, everybody talks about numbers.
- 19:16Even our own banks, they talk about numbers.
- 19:20They want people that are not just tellers
- 19:23or universal bankers.
- 19:24They want people that are sales sharks.
- 19:29What does that mean?
- 19:31They want people that are able to bond
- 19:34with the clients, to get to know them,
- 19:36and to be able to, well, learn from
- 19:40them.
- 19:41DL Carnegie said something very interesting many years
- 19:44ago, and I was fortunate to take his
- 19:45class.
- 19:46He wasn't around, but I got to take
- 19:47it from some other people that put the
- 19:49course on.
- 19:50And he said, strive to become genuinely interested
- 19:55in other people.
- 19:58Don't worry about you being interested.
- 20:00That's not important.
- 20:01Just get interested in other people.
- 20:06And you're going to find, if you do
- 20:07that, people are going to flip the table
- 20:10and they're going to want to become interested
- 20:13in you.
- 20:15But you see, this doesn't happen with events
- 20:17where there's hundreds of people at a networking
- 20:20event and people just trying to push off
- 20:22carts.
- 20:24The concept of quality, the concept of value,
- 20:29the concept of integrity, the concept of authenticity,
- 20:34it fades.
- 20:37And why does it happen?
- 20:39Because they feel if you speak to enough
- 20:41people, it's a numbers game.
- 20:43Yes, sales is a numbers game, but you
- 20:45can get a lot more from people when
- 20:48you actually care.
- 20:52Many times, sales will happen just because of
- 20:56a conversation.
- 20:57This has happened to me on the plane.
- 20:59I don't even know the person just having
- 21:00a conversation, not even trying to sell them.
- 21:03And bam, they contact me and I'm consulting
- 21:06with them.
- 21:08I think the reason I love being an
- 21:10author so much is that I get to
- 21:12tell my truth.
- 21:13I get to tell my story.
- 21:15I get to tell the world story when
- 21:17I read other books as well.
- 21:19That's why I like to write nonfiction.
- 21:23In case you guys didn't know, fiction is
- 21:25fantasy, not real.
- 21:28Nonfiction is about truth.
- 21:32And why is it people don't tell truth?
- 21:35Well, because truth doesn't always sell.
- 21:37The main line for journalists and publicists is
- 21:42only write or cover it if you know
- 21:47it's going to bleed.
- 21:49Because if it bleeds, it's going to lead.
- 21:51That is a terrible attitude.
- 21:54People do it every single day.
- 21:56TV, newspaper, magazines.
- 22:00I guess the media thinks that if there's
- 22:07gossip or there is something that points out
- 22:11somebody is bad, then that's going to sell.
- 22:14Maybe it does.
- 22:16But I ask you a question.
- 22:18If it was the reverse, okay, and they
- 22:22were the journalists and they found something about
- 22:25you, would you want that published?
- 22:29I would think not.
- 22:31So, I'm going to ask you very nicely,
- 22:34everyone, to drop the performance.
- 22:37Your life's not a magic show, okay?
- 22:40Your life is not a Broadway play every
- 22:42day.
- 22:42If you're in a player performance and I
- 22:44do acting, that's different.
- 22:46But every day is not a performance, okay?
- 22:50People say life is a game.
- 22:53It is a game.
- 22:54You have to be strategic.
- 22:56But in this kind of game, it's being
- 22:58authentic.
- 22:58It's not playing poker and trying to hold
- 23:00your cart.
- 23:01It's being authentic for who you are in
- 23:04life and who you choose to show up
- 23:07as.
- 23:08You see, I was talking to somebody the
- 23:09other day and they were saying, you know,
- 23:11it matters with what I did for them.
- 23:13No, it doesn't.
- 23:15You might think it does.
- 23:17It comes down to one thing.
- 23:19It comes down to how you made them
- 23:21feel.
- 23:22If what you did didn't make them feel
- 23:24a certain way, all you did was just
- 23:26open your mouth and basically elicit words.
- 23:31So, I say to you, drop the performance.
- 23:35And by dropping the performance, I mean actually
- 23:39be you.
- 23:41So many people I know try to be
- 23:43other people.
- 23:44Being a content creator and video producer for
- 23:46many years as well as an engineer and
- 23:48other things, I knew that when I started
- 23:50this, it wasn't about copying others.
- 23:53It was about being John.
- 23:54It was about telling my story from my
- 23:58point of view.
- 24:00Not somebody else that's got 10 billion views.
- 24:05That's not authentic.
- 24:07Even if it worked and it got me
- 24:08more views, that wouldn't be who I am.
- 24:12That would be phony.
- 24:14And being a journalist for many years, I
- 24:16believe so much in truth.
- 24:19I believe so much in integrity.
- 24:21So much in compassion.
- 24:24But I want to tell you, don't be
- 24:26afraid to hit play in your life.
- 24:29Don't keep rewinding or erasing and re-recording
- 24:35your story.
- 24:37Your story is good enough already if it's
- 24:40authentic and true.
- 24:43Because when you're not afraid to play and
- 24:47share that story, that's when magical moments of
- 24:50life happen.
- 24:53Compassion or perfection.
- 24:56Right?
- 24:57Everybody wants things to be perfect.
- 24:59But maybe you could show a little bit
- 25:00of compassion.
- 25:01Those will show compassion to you.
- 25:03As I say to you guys, drop the
- 25:05performance.
- 25:07This isn't Broadway.
- 25:08Even if you are on Broadway, your life
- 25:11is not Broadway.
- 25:12Okay?
- 25:14I don't care if you're a singer, you're
- 25:15an actor, and I do acting too.
- 25:17Your daily life is not a performance.
- 25:22It's not a facade.
- 25:24I was telling the story about Mr. Rogers
- 25:25a few days ago and how on one
- 25:27of the episodes, he actually showed the truth
- 25:30of his television studio.
- 25:32And I was blown away learning that what
- 25:36we didn't see was actually the cameras.
- 25:38And the whole set, the whole right side
- 25:42that we'd see on TV, which was actually
- 25:45nothing.
- 25:46It was just a wall.
- 25:49Well, no wall.
- 25:51It was just a bunch of people there
- 25:52with cameras.
- 25:54And it was a stage.
- 25:57It was a facade.
- 25:58So I ask you this, ladies and gentlemen,
- 26:00do you want to create a facade in
- 26:02your life or do you want to create
- 26:04truth?
- 26:05A facade may seem to give you a
- 26:08leg up for the moment and even put
- 26:11some dollars in your pocket, but it won't
- 26:14last forever.
- 26:15And when people learn your real truth, you
- 26:19will lose followers.
- 26:20You'll lose friends.
- 26:21You'll lose investors.
- 26:22You'll lose clients even quicker than you've got
- 26:26them.
- 26:27Nobody wants a facade.
- 26:28Nobody wants a performer.
- 26:31Somebody wants people to be authentic.
- 26:34Somebody wants people to tell the truth.
- 26:39Somebody wants people to stop being that performer
- 26:42and be somebody that's actually going to make
- 26:46a difference in their own lives and other
- 26:49people's lives.
- 26:50And I think that's a very, I think
- 26:52that's a very, very hard thing for a
- 26:54lot of people to understand.
- 26:55You can do this ladies and gentlemen, you
- 26:57absolutely can do this.
- 26:59I'm going to say right now, drop the
- 27:02performance.
- 27:03Let me say it again.
- 27:04Drop the performance.
- 27:06Drop the performance.
- 27:08Don't worry if every word isn't perfect.
- 27:12Don't worry if every article you write is
- 27:15incorrectly perfect or every email you draft is
- 27:18not the best.
- 27:22People will understand if it comes from the
- 27:26heart.
- 27:27If it comes from truth, you'll get compassion.
- 27:30Are there going to be hecklers out there?
- 27:32Sure, there are.
- 27:33Okay.
- 27:34That's part of life, being tough, being strong.
- 27:38And the people that respect and understand that
- 27:41will be attracted to.
- 27:43The other people, well, they're just looking for
- 27:47a show.
- 27:48If they want a show, they can go
- 27:49to Broadway.
- 27:50They can go to PayPal or they could
- 27:51go any other place.
- 27:53Ladies and gentlemen, I hope you have a
- 27:54great rest of your day, a great rest
- 27:55of your evening.
- 27:56We'll see you real soon.
