- 1:11Speaker 2: Seven hundred percent improvement for the Patriots this week. But
- 1:15Speaker 2: they lose sixteen to seven.
- 1:16Speaker 6: Well, this is than seven hundred percent of zero.

- 1:46Speaker 2: myself as usual. However, Evan and I will be uh
- 1:51Speaker 2: getting out of here pretty soon because we get to
- 1:53Speaker 2: get on the bus, So I'll leave you with Deuce Tomorrow,
- 1:57Speaker 2: Paul and Matisse we'll join in go to the b Yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 2: it's still a full show even without Evan and I.
- 2:04Speaker 2: But we got a lot to talk about.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Here, right Oh yeah, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, you're about to go there.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 6: Mitch Trubisky, Yeah maybe no, Naji Harris, you missed practiced yesterday,
- 2:15Speaker 6: so uh, we're having a dueling top running backs being out.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Maybe yeah, but you know, when you look at the matchups,
- 2:23Speaker 2: advantage quarterback Steelers, even though it's Mitch Trubisky and he's
- 2:27Speaker 2: won games in the NFL.
- 2:28Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, he's he's won two games in the NFL.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You know what, I stand corrected. I stand correct.
- 2:35Speaker 7: Risky might be two and like twenty somethings.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I stand corrected.
- 2:39Speaker 6: He gave them a hard time at Chicago. It's what
- 2:41Speaker 6: in seventeen, twenty, seventeen, twenty eight always.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Comes the well, you got to you gotta check, you
- 2:47Speaker 2: gotta be checked.
- 2:48Speaker 7: That was my first trip to Soldier Field.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Played well in that game, you're right, Well, yeah, and
- 2:53Speaker 1: well he was.
- 2:55Speaker 7: He ran a lot in that game, and I think
- 2:57Speaker 7: that's a big thing for the Patriots this week. You know,
- 2:59Speaker 7: the one thing that he can do is he can
- 3:02Speaker 7: extend plays with his legs. He can run, he can scramble,
- 3:04Speaker 7: and he can get outside the pocket. Peterson on our teams, Yes,
- 3:11Speaker 7: for Darryl.
- 3:12Speaker 1: He returned to kick game. Trubisky is thirty one and
- 3:15Speaker 1: twenty four as a starter.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Really in his career.
- 3:17Speaker 1: That's he has a winning record thirty one and twenty four.
- 3:20Speaker 6: It's a big difference between and twenty.
- 3:22Speaker 7: What's a winning record.
- 3:24Speaker 1: He was eleven and three in eighteen wow, eight and seven,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the next year six and three, uh, and then two
- 3:31Speaker 1: and three last year.
- 3:32Speaker 7: Some people say they gave up on him too fast.
- 3:34Speaker 6: Yeah, well maybe what he had like the year in
- 3:36Speaker 6: Buffalo and now he's been in Pittsburgh for for this
- 3:39Speaker 6: is second season.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I think that's correct.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So they've got the experience at the quarterback position in
- 3:46Speaker 2: this game.
- 3:47Speaker 5: We also have better weapons.
- 3:49Speaker 2: They have better weapons, so their offense better than our offense.
- 3:52Speaker 6: We know.
- 3:53Speaker 7: This is where this is.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I think defense is a toss up, right, our defense
- 3:56Speaker 2: their defense. I don't know. I mean t J.
- 3:59Speaker 6: Wats really, I mean, I mean, I think it would
- 4:01Speaker 6: probably tip it a little bit in their favor, just
- 4:03Speaker 6: because I mean, if the Patriots had Jude on maybe
- 4:05Speaker 6: it's almost comparable. But I think T. J. Watt's just
- 4:07Speaker 6: too good right now. He's he's the best player on defense.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Okay, yeahs defense really good. Their front is probably one
- 4:14Speaker 7: of the best that they've played all year.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, the offenses don't play each other.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So their offense, their defense against our offense, our defense
- 4:22Speaker 2: against their offense. I think they have the advantage because
- 4:26Speaker 2: our offense just doesn't score points. Yeah, you know that's
- 4:29Speaker 2: the place, isn't either, Well, this could literally not as
- 4:33Speaker 2: bad as us.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Well, no will last right, what are they like, did
- 4:38Speaker 1: you look that up there? They thirtieth something like that,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and who have they been playing teams teams.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Without their starting quarterback.
- 4:45Speaker 9: I mean, they beat the Bengals, but cool, but Joe
- 4:48Speaker 9: Burrow wasn't playing.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Okay, the other kids pretty good.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I mean they they scored sixteen in that game, and
- 4:54Speaker 1: then Jacksonville scored thirty one on in the next game.
- 4:57Speaker 7: So they're they're twenty eighth and scoring.
- 4:59Speaker 1: So they're so they don't score, they're averaging.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Sixteen a game. They fired their offensive coordinator two weeks ago.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I mean, they went fifty nine games without getting even
- 5:06Speaker 1: four hundred yards in one game. So Paul, you're saying
- 5:08Speaker 1: there's a chance, I definitely think this.
- 5:10Speaker 9: Is I'm saying this could be another six nothing game.
- 5:13Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 1: When the other team can't score, the game is I mean,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I choose, we made our pitch. We did our pitch yesterday, Freddy, Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I picked Pittsburgh. So I'm not telling you I think
- 5:24Speaker 1: the Patriots are going to win. But I think what
- 5:27Speaker 1: Tamara said is very accurate. When neither team scores a lot,
- 5:30Speaker 1: anything can happen. You know, anybody can win turnovers.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Right, I guess I did a little digging though. Did
- 5:38Speaker 6: you know you got to go back all the way
- 5:40Speaker 6: to the twenty eleven Rams to find an offense that
- 5:42Speaker 6: average under.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Just out of curiosity, who was the coordinator of that
- 5:45Speaker 1: off I don't recall, you don't recall my shots fired?
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody lost their job because what.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Offensive system did that team try to use? I pleaded
- 5:53Speaker 1: the fifth, Oh, that would be Josh McDaniels.
- 5:56Speaker 6: But there hasn't been a team under thirteen points over twelve.
- 5:59Speaker 7: I looked this up the other day because to put
- 6:01Speaker 7: in perspective for the Patriots, the last Patriots offense to
- 6:06Speaker 7: score this few points per game Rod Rust, the Rod
- 6:10Speaker 7: rust yere Yeah, nineteen and correct me if I'm wrong.
- 6:17Speaker 7: Based off record, it's the worst Patriots season ever.
- 6:19Speaker 1: But based off of that's the worst team ever. Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 7: So that's the worst Patriots team ever. And you are
- 6:25Speaker 7: neck and neck right now and scoring with the Rod
- 6:28Speaker 7: Rust Patriots, Like just that's just.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Why it's historically bad. It's historically bad for them especially.
- 6:33Speaker 7: Yeah, like you have to after that, you have to
- 6:35Speaker 7: go back to like, you know, the sixties and like
- 6:38Speaker 7: bo Polini and stuff, like you were talking about a
- 6:40Speaker 7: different type of football at that point. So like you
- 6:43Speaker 7: you're really like.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Did you mean to say babe, yeah or whatever?
- 6:49Speaker 7: I literally I was born in nineteen ninety two.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Year is actually a person. Yeah who He was a
- 6:57Speaker 1: linebackers coach here. He ended up being as head coach
- 7:00Speaker 1: for a while.
- 7:01Speaker 7: See anyone was talking about and.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Fred will tell you not a fan of the No, No,
- 7:05Speaker 2: I have a funny Bopolini story. If anyone's into Bay.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Perley whatever, same thing. Anyway, all the same people to
- 7:11Speaker 7: me back when the Patriots stunted.
- 7:14Speaker 2: This is going to be another game that puts NFL
- 7:17Speaker 2: football back thirty years forty years.
- 7:19Speaker 6: Oh in on Thursday night too, so you got that
- 7:22Speaker 6: that element added.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Thursday night games tend to be lower scoring, although last
- 7:26Speaker 1: week's was high scoring forty one thirty five.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Do we have a weather report for tomorrow night?
- 7:30Speaker 6: No, that's a good question. I thought you guys might
- 7:32Speaker 6: be on that. You guys are headed there in a minute.
- 7:34Speaker 7: No, I don't even want to look.
- 7:36Speaker 2: He's that for that?
- 7:39Speaker 6: If only there was a way.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 7: Yeah, So it looks like it's going to be yeah,
- 7:45Speaker 7: pretty nice in terms of like Pittsburgh this time of
- 7:47Speaker 7: year of course on Friday when we're not going to
- 7:50Speaker 7: be there. It's going to be sixty. So oh, I
- 7:53Speaker 7: could have had a nice.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Day on the Pittsburgh in December sixty.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Driving thriving up from the Capes.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Very underrated place, that's what everybody's.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Talking abou from the Cape this morning. You would think
- 8:04Speaker 2: it never snowed before it was. I'm literally they closed
- 8:07Speaker 2: the Bourne Bridge because it was too icy. Really, they
- 8:11Speaker 2: putdn't didn't put salt down or whatever. So I had
- 8:14Speaker 2: to loop around. It took me two hours to get here.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Yikes, Which you gotta go. You gotta loop back to
- 8:18Speaker 6: the Saga. But you're close to the Sagamore anyway, Why
- 8:20Speaker 6: did you go down the road?
- 8:21Speaker 2: I went over the Sagamore and then I go over
- 8:23Speaker 2: to the Bourne. But that's where the problem was. So
- 8:25Speaker 2: I had to loop back and take those back roads
- 8:28Speaker 2: to get to Cranberry Highway.
- 8:29Speaker 6: You know that used to be how you had to
- 8:33Speaker 6: get to the Bourne Bridge, the Cranberry Highway right you
- 8:35Speaker 6: through Wearing.
- 8:37Speaker 7: Is that a real place or is that like you
- 8:38Speaker 7: know in Candy Landers, right?
- 8:42Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of Cranberry.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So can you just tell how excited to marry it
- 8:45Speaker 1: is just for this game.
- 8:48Speaker 7: I'm upset you're not.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I wish you could go.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Then your car start driving.
- 8:55Speaker 9: Absolutely my max. My max for road trips is like
- 8:59Speaker 9: two hours to reader have a responsibility to.
- 9:07Speaker 7: I used to drive to Anthaica, New York.
- 9:09Speaker 1: It's six hours.
- 9:10Speaker 2: No, But listen, you get your good podcast going.
- 9:15Speaker 9: Good control. Why am I wasting time?
- 9:19Speaker 2: Because you're not wasting time. You're it's your time when
- 9:22Speaker 2: you're in your car. When you're in a plane, it's
- 9:24Speaker 2: their time. They control you. When you're in a car,
- 9:27Speaker 2: you control the situation.
- 9:30Speaker 6: But mister hand, if we're all here, isn't it time
- 9:33Speaker 6: for me?
- 9:34Speaker 1: If anything here and Belichick's here, doesn't that make it
- 9:38Speaker 1: our time?
- 9:38Speaker 2: No? But for me anything less than four hours i'm driving,
- 9:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I would agree.
- 9:45Speaker 1: The ability to have my car, I think.
- 9:47Speaker 5: Is how long is to drive Pittsburgh.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Pittsburgh's probably more like seven hours Pittsburgh.
- 9:53Speaker 7: But well, the thing too about like you know, we
- 9:56Speaker 7: do this not to complain by any means, but you know,
- 9:58Speaker 7: by the time you get on the plane, you go
- 10:00Speaker 7: through security, like you really start to do the math.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It's yeah, I think.
- 10:05Speaker 2: We have to get on the bus by twelve thirty one. Yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 2: we're not going to get into Pittsburgh to what five.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, we used to do it for Jets games once
- 10:12Speaker 1: in a while. We would actually calculate it and absolutely
- 10:15Speaker 1: if you drove, you could get there fast. Yeah.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Like so if I started driving at ten o'clock this morning,
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'd beat the team to Pittsburgh.
- 10:22Speaker 5: But you also left earlier.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I know, but so, but you could mean Pittsburgh is not.
- 10:27Speaker 1: But like we used to do it for the Jets,
- 10:29Speaker 1: like calculating the time that you got through security here
- 10:33Speaker 1: at the stadium onto the bus if you would if
- 10:35Speaker 1: you left and drove, you could get there the same time.
- 10:38Speaker 5: I guess for me, I'm like spoiled one.
- 10:40Speaker 9: Providence Airport is like the size of this room, and
- 10:42Speaker 9: I show up when my flight is boarding, and.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Providence is a breeze's.
- 10:47Speaker 9: And I have to pre check, so I literally just
- 10:48Speaker 9: like walk straight through it on the plane.
- 10:49Speaker 6: You like professional plane traveler.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I am, Well, she travels a lot and that would
- 10:53Speaker 1: do anything not to have to take a commercial flight again.
- 10:55Speaker 1: The Patriots have completely ruined me for travel.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I do not want to travel commercially ever again. And
- 11:01Speaker 1: I spy having to do it.
- 11:03Speaker 7: I get a lot of flak at the at the
- 11:06Speaker 7: family dinner table for bringing that up because we were
- 11:09Speaker 7: going to Germany and I was like, oh and I
- 11:11Speaker 7: had to fly commercial and my parents won't wanted to
- 11:15Speaker 7: murder me. They were like excuse me, and I was like,
- 11:18Speaker 7: I'm sorry.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I get for that too, but I hate it. I
- 11:22Speaker 1: hate having to do it. Probably going to be taking
- 11:25Speaker 1: a couple of trips this uh you know what as
- 11:27Speaker 1: soon as the season's over too looking forward to.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You know, we got spoiled on chartists. Can you imagine
- 11:32Speaker 2: how these rich people get spoiled with their own jets?
- 11:34Speaker 1: Oh you know I can, yeah, yeah, but they can
- 11:38Speaker 1: do that every time they want.
- 11:40Speaker 2: No, I know, but like imagine if like the jet
- 11:42Speaker 2: wasn't I don't have the option to take. Imagine if
- 11:44Speaker 2: the grounded one day and they had to fly commercial, they.
- 11:48Speaker 7: Get a new one going through the terminal.
- 11:52Speaker 6: My old job, my bosses used to say private flights,
- 11:54Speaker 6: and I would like see the bill for you know,
- 11:56Speaker 6: just like the gas alone was like twenty times what
- 11:58Speaker 6: our vacation wouldn't even caught. But yeah, you know.
- 12:01Speaker 2: It's the uh, what is one of those net jets costs?
- 12:04Speaker 2: Like is it like fifty grand to go.
- 12:07Speaker 6: Like where you're in like kind of a group of
- 12:08Speaker 6: people and you all kind of split. Yeah, I mean honestly,
- 12:11Speaker 6: the like just the one off to like Cabo was
- 12:13Speaker 6: like thirty five thousand.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Thirty five.
- 12:15Speaker 7: Well, because like when we fly in places we like,
- 12:19Speaker 7: we often go to like the private part of the
- 12:21Speaker 7: airport and so like you see like all of like
- 12:24Speaker 7: those especially in like places like Vegas and stuff like that,
- 12:27Speaker 7: where there are a lot of the private jets and
- 12:28Speaker 7: they're all just like lined up and they're too small
- 12:31Speaker 7: for me, Like I I would, I don't.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Want to fill everything on the Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 2: But if the jets ten and it's thirty five thousand,
- 12:39Speaker 2: you split it thirty five hundred per person. That's still
- 12:42Speaker 2: a lot higher than if you paid for flight, But
- 12:44Speaker 2: it might be worth it if you really want.
- 12:46Speaker 6: The smallest jets are offered.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, what ten people?
- 12:50Speaker 8: I'm saying it's sixty seven hundred an hour for the
- 12:52Speaker 8: smallest jet. They offered sixty seven hours jet.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Oh wow, and that's I don't even know if that
- 12:56Speaker 6: includes gas too, Like the gas jumped out at me
- 12:59Speaker 6: like that was like enough their surch charge in there
- 13:01Speaker 6: that you're like, whoa, that's anyway.
- 13:02Speaker 10: We're.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Travel talk.
- 13:06Speaker 7: That's what happens when you're two.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Nothing like nothing like the Army Navy game to get
- 13:11Speaker 2: a little spruce up of the surface.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I can't get one of those shots. I feel like
- 13:15Speaker 1: I'm the only one in the stadium that does not
- 13:16Speaker 1: have that shirt.
- 13:17Speaker 6: Yeah, they don't get Yeah, they don't have any You
- 13:19Speaker 6: know why.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I don't like it?
- 13:20Speaker 1: Right? Yeah, I do fake? So did you not take us?
- 13:24Speaker 1: Can I take us?
- 13:24Speaker 9: Then?
- 13:25Speaker 1: I don't even know what Evidently everybody got one I didn't.
- 13:28Speaker 5: It was like an ice cream social Yeah, yeah, I.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Think that was downstairs. Then, like, no one.
- 13:33Speaker 7: Cares you were you know, it was a wind He
- 13:35Speaker 7: didn't get the in because he's downstairs.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I don't have to be here.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You had to go upstairs with I think it was
- 13:40Speaker 2: a Monday.
- 13:41Speaker 6: It wasn't there was it was?
- 13:42Speaker 5: It was ice cream?
- 13:43Speaker 6: How did it not catch you?
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 13:45Speaker 7: I went up there and I didn't even have the
- 13:46Speaker 7: ice cream.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Which now, now, in all seriousness, does it make any
- 13:49Speaker 1: sense to anybody that I passed up for the ice cream?
- 13:52Speaker 6: No, that's come on, That's what I was wondering. But
- 13:54Speaker 6: they did put out a bunch of new stuff yesterday
- 13:56Speaker 6: in the pro shops. So if you want some Army
- 13:58Speaker 6: Navy swag, come on down to Patriot's Place, although it's
- 14:00Speaker 6: gonna be a little crazy, and we're.
- 14:01Speaker 2: A company here repainting the hole. The whole service tunnel
- 14:05Speaker 2: is being redone, and I assume because of Army Navy.
- 14:09Speaker 2: And then you know the E three carter. Did you
- 14:11Speaker 2: see the new Yeah, we did that was pretty cool. Cool,
- 14:13Speaker 2: absolutely color, very cool. We have like murals on the
- 14:16Speaker 2: walls as you walk down this one hallway and it's
- 14:19Speaker 2: like Tom Brady and Julian Edelman and Tom Brady, it's
- 14:28Speaker 2: the revs and monster you know, things that have happened
- 14:30Speaker 2: here in uh the stadium. And they change one of
- 14:34Speaker 2: the walls to all Army Navy guys in their uniforms
- 14:37Speaker 2: and it's really cool. Yeah. The other ones are like
- 14:39Speaker 2: two tone. These are color yeah, really pop.
- 14:42Speaker 7: I wasn't sure if we were to talk about those
- 14:45Speaker 7: murals like publicly, so I never brought this up. But
- 14:48Speaker 7: going from Damien Harris to the Brady on the week
- 14:51Speaker 7: one this year photo that we have up there now
- 14:54Speaker 7: was like the that's the biggest upgraded like you ever
- 14:57Speaker 7: could possibly.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Can think Smith no sucks like Matt, it was tireless
- 15:01Speaker 1: and trying to get that replaced, and they finally did
- 15:03Speaker 1: it played the Bills.
- 15:04Speaker 7: That's a fantastic picture of Brady on the podium, like
- 15:08Speaker 7: addressing the crowd on in week one, and then we
- 15:11Speaker 7: go to that from no offense.
- 15:12Speaker 6: Wow, it's crazy. How much like that that was the
- 15:15Speaker 6: first game of the season. Like I just like time
- 15:17Speaker 6: goes by three years ago. Yes, yes, I mean I
- 15:20Speaker 6: remember seeing Brady. I mean that's you know, it does.
- 15:22Speaker 1: The season goes by fast, it does, but that particular
- 15:26Speaker 1: moment seems like it was so long ago to me.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It seems like yesterday.
- 15:31Speaker 1: But I do agree with you, Freddy. The season, the
- 15:32Speaker 1: NFL season goes by very fast.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Well, and part of it, like to me, the Brady
- 15:36Speaker 2: thing was yesterday because everything in between was forgettable.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Oh that's a good point, you know, it's a good point.
- 15:42Speaker 2: What is it?
- 15:42Speaker 1: You know?
- 15:42Speaker 6: I mean, Buffalo's win was was cool for me just
- 15:45Speaker 6: because my kids were there and we have all games
- 15:47Speaker 6: for them to have a first Patriot Like.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Deuce's kids go to the game. It's twenty nine, twenty five.
- 15:51Speaker 1: My kid goes to the game with six nothing and
- 15:54Speaker 1: I got a right, I got a bike. Was awesome.
- 16:00Speaker 6: And then and the kids were sitting right above where
- 16:03Speaker 6: the Kasiki touchdown happened, and they got a great video.
- 16:08Speaker 2: What's up was looking at us through the window, looking
- 16:13Speaker 2: at us like, who are these.
- 16:16Speaker 1: It was just paying paying morel money. Evidently just get
- 16:20Speaker 1: me lunched. I'm sure that's what it was.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Morning he stole that started the whole thing. Um all right,
- 16:30Speaker 2: Pass five hundred is the ace ticket hot line getting
- 16:33Speaker 2: back to the Patriots in football anything we need to
- 16:38Speaker 2: know that's occurred this week. I know it's been a
- 16:40Speaker 2: short week.
- 16:41Speaker 5: John Jones, did you guys ever talking about that Walter.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Payton Man of the Year. Yeah, So he's the Patriots
- 16:46Speaker 2: nominee for Walter Payton Man of the Year, which is
- 16:48Speaker 2: a big deal. You know, the winner, the league winner
- 16:52Speaker 2: of that goes to the Super Bowl and gets awarded
- 16:56Speaker 2: at the Super Bowl. So the Patriots nominee is John
- 16:59Speaker 2: Jones the year.
- 17:00Speaker 5: He does so much in the community.
- 17:02Speaker 9: I'm like, how do you have time, especially like here
- 17:04Speaker 9: back home at Auburn.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Like y nice little piece on pages dot com about that.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So that's nice.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Football wise, practice was later yesterday, So Evan's update it would.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Have been a good one too, a good one.
- 17:20Speaker 7: There's a couple of things going on. I would say.
- 17:23Speaker 7: The biggest thing is, you know, sometimes we we see
- 17:27Speaker 7: the kickers and they'll be kicking.
- 17:32Speaker 2: As opposed kicking as opposed to like, you know, doing
- 17:36Speaker 2: whatever it is. All.
- 17:38Speaker 7: They were kicking as they tend to do. But the
- 17:41Speaker 7: person that was place kicking was not one rookie young
- 17:46Speaker 7: Chad Ryland.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Was the other dude.
- 17:48Speaker 6: It was the other kicker, Matthew.
- 17:50Speaker 7: Matthew Wright on the practice squad. Now, who does have
- 17:53Speaker 7: some NFL experience, He has you kicked in regular season
- 17:56Speaker 7: games before. So just the one little snap shot, like
- 18:00Speaker 7: I'm not trying to sit here and tell you that
- 18:01Speaker 7: they're benching Ryland or anything quite yet, but they showed
- 18:04Speaker 7: very little confidence in him last week. I felt like
- 18:06Speaker 7: in a couple of instances, I would.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Agree, well, I mean, did you I don't know if
- 18:10Speaker 2: he was on this show or one of Paul's shows,
- 18:12Speaker 2: but somebody said Ryland in pregame missed five straight.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Down all of the gents. I'm not sure if Evan
- 18:19Speaker 1: did as well, but everybody was chronicling his pregame routine
- 18:23Speaker 1: and everybody said he missed like five out of six.
- 18:25Speaker 7: Yeah, but it was something deep like.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Fifty three.
- 18:29Speaker 7: Yeah, and that's why you know they didn't kick. I
- 18:31Speaker 7: think it was like a fifty three or fifty four
- 18:33Speaker 7: yard field that.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Was a shorter one than that that they they went
- 18:36Speaker 1: for it went for a fourth down that would have
- 18:38Speaker 1: been like a forty eight.
- 18:39Speaker 7: Yard Okay, maybe that was it. And Bill after the
- 18:41Speaker 7: game said he wasn't making him in pregames, so we
- 18:44Speaker 7: we didn't trust him to make it in the game.
- 18:46Speaker 7: And I think that there's a chance, there's a chance
- 18:50Speaker 7: that it's a competition at least, and they're you know,
- 18:53Speaker 7: we're giving right some some practice reps.
- 18:55Speaker 1: How do people feel about that? Out of curiosity? Yeah?
- 19:02Speaker 1: I know, is that the best way? Like, I mean,
- 19:04Speaker 1: if if they were ten and two, I would absolutely like,
- 19:06Speaker 1: this is what you'd have to do. You'd probably have
- 19:09Speaker 1: already made a move and try to get him on
- 19:11Speaker 1: your practice squad so if you can get his head
- 19:13Speaker 1: straight whatever. But at two and ten, is that the
- 19:15Speaker 1: best way to handle a rookie?
- 19:17Speaker 6: You can see what you're getting at. I don't know's
- 19:18Speaker 6: that's I think a good question. I mean, you want
- 19:20Speaker 6: to see him work through it. You invested a draft
- 19:22Speaker 6: pick in this kid, you know you like him. It's
- 19:24Speaker 6: got a good leg.
- 19:25Speaker 2: That's one way to look at it. But the other
- 19:27Speaker 2: way to look at it is the rest of the team.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Am I doing a disservice to the rest of the
- 19:32Speaker 2: team by just protting out this guy that can't make
- 19:34Speaker 2: kicks when we're involved in We're involved in ten seven,
- 19:38Speaker 2: ten six games, nothing where every point is critical.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I'm letting down eleven games of pathetic, I know, but I'm.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Not doing what I have to do at that position.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I let it down.
- 19:50Speaker 9: You did that for a million weeks with Mac Jones,
- 19:53Speaker 9: So why not let Chad Ryland have the same amount
- 19:55Speaker 9: of Well.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I could make the same argument with Mac Jones. Maybe
- 19:57Speaker 2: that was mishandled as well.
- 19:59Speaker 7: Well, that was mishand for you know every angle.
- 20:01Speaker 2: But why do it wrong twice?
- 20:04Speaker 10: You know?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Now, I'm just saying, like you, you trade it up
- 20:07Speaker 1: in the fourth round. He's an asset that you thought
- 20:11Speaker 1: enough of to do that for, and now he's struggling.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm not trying to make excuses for him. He hasn't
- 20:17Speaker 1: kicked well, he's been very erratic, a couple of really
- 20:20Speaker 1: short ones. He's missed the last two times that he's
- 20:22Speaker 1: been out there. But are you ready to sort of change?
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah for good?
- 20:28Speaker 2: No, but right now I'd like to Right now, I'd
- 20:33Speaker 2: like to win a game or two.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Okay, But my point is what's more important him long
- 20:37Speaker 1: term or winning a game.
- 20:39Speaker 7: Or two him long term?
- 20:41Speaker 6: Is there?
- 20:42Speaker 2: Kickers, I've got all off season to work with him.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Okay, well, that's not really going to do it. I
- 20:46Speaker 1: know he's going to be somebody this could this.
- 20:48Speaker 2: We're already hearing defense bitching about the offense that we
- 20:52Speaker 2: have to be perfect, you know what, And.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Now I'm going to bring out I've about had it
- 20:56Speaker 1: with that too. Okay, that'll be another.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I'll get into that. But you know where where points
- 21:01Speaker 2: are at a premium, I have to think about the
- 21:03Speaker 2: entire team, and like, I'm not going to be working
- 21:06Speaker 2: on this one guy because I traded up in the
- 21:10Speaker 2: fourth round in forfeit a game and that's just not
- 21:13Speaker 2: fair to everybody.
- 21:14Speaker 1: And I didn't say to forfeit a game, like don't
- 21:16Speaker 1: do it? Make it an indie argument like okay, so
- 21:19Speaker 1: we have no chance to win because Chad Ryland is
- 21:21Speaker 1: on the team. Now, I'm forfeiting today.
- 21:23Speaker 2: But but I have a less chance if I don't
- 21:25Speaker 2: have a field goal kicker who can make field goals.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You know, So it's you can you can argue either way,
- 21:30Speaker 2: but I can see this, you know.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if you have designs in this guy
- 21:33Speaker 1: being part of your future, I don't know if this
- 21:35Speaker 1: is the best thing for him, for you know, mentally,
- 21:38Speaker 1: it's a very it's a very very mental position.
- 21:41Speaker 7: There are kickers that have had bad starts to their
- 21:44Speaker 7: careers and then all of a sudden turned into great
- 21:46Speaker 7: kicker and what really brought the city first.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Of all, well, it might be for this season, it
- 21:51Speaker 1: is that might mean the end. That's exactly what Evan's
- 21:55Speaker 1: talking about. And I think, first of all, I'm just
- 21:58Speaker 1: bringing it up as a you know, as they like
- 22:00Speaker 1: to say, facility.
- 22:01Speaker 2: We don't have a lot to argue about.
- 22:04Speaker 1: And I'm not necessarily arguing with you about it. I'm
- 22:07Speaker 1: just asking if it's the best way to handle it.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And what got it on my radar I think was
- 22:12Speaker 1: either last Friday or the friday before when Bill started
- 22:16Speaker 1: being asked about it, and he I think it was
- 22:18Speaker 1: last Friday, he mentioned a lot of guys that were
- 22:22Speaker 1: really successful kickers in this league did not have that
- 22:25Speaker 1: success with their original team. They go to another team
- 22:30Speaker 1: and they end up, you know, panning out. Now, Nick
- 22:33Speaker 1: Folk was good with a lot of teams, but there's
- 22:35Speaker 1: a lot of guys that really were terrible when they
- 22:38Speaker 1: first got in the league and ended up having long,
- 22:41Speaker 1: successful careers. And I wonder, is that what the plan is?
- 22:46Speaker 1: Like you have to accept the fact that it's not
- 22:48Speaker 1: going to work here. He might go somewhere else and
- 22:50Speaker 1: it might pan out for him. And I'm not arguing necessarily,
- 22:54Speaker 1: I'm just wondering, is that where we're going?
- 22:56Speaker 2: I think right now that may I think right now,
- 23:00Speaker 2: all Bill is thinking about is I need a guy
- 23:04Speaker 2: who can make a field goal and you know, we
- 23:07Speaker 2: can make a forty eight yard or when we need it.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And he's he's thinking about the now. I you know,
- 23:12Speaker 2: I don't think he's thinking about twenty twenty four or
- 23:15Speaker 2: his future, Ryland's future. I just think he's thinking about
- 23:18Speaker 2: I got a bunch of guys in this team that
- 23:20Speaker 2: would love to get a win, and I'm the coach,
- 23:23Speaker 2: and it's up to me to find a way to
- 23:25Speaker 2: get a win. And you can make the same argument
- 23:28Speaker 2: that he didn't pull the plug, you know, fast enough
- 23:31Speaker 2: with Matt Jones.
- 23:32Speaker 1: You know, I get that that's the counter I get it.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think that's your argument.
- 23:36Speaker 7: That that's almost the the challenge for Bill as being
- 23:42Speaker 7: the GM and the coach is that he had I
- 23:44Speaker 7: think sometimes that that's another thing that kind of gets in.
- 23:48Speaker 2: The way a little bit.
- 23:49Speaker 7: Is like to hear and now matters to build a coach,
- 23:51Speaker 7: But Bill, a GM needs to take a total you know,
- 23:54Speaker 7: has to take that bird's eye view of it. And
- 23:57Speaker 7: so these decisions I think sometimes necessarily even knocking him
- 24:02Speaker 7: for it, because that's a tough spot to be it. Like,
- 24:04Speaker 7: you know that the team right now might be dying
- 24:07Speaker 7: for a win, but really if you're in the long term,
- 24:10Speaker 7: it's probably better they lose. Like that's just the reality.
- 24:13Speaker 7: Like I've said before, you know, Pittsburgh beating Pittsburgh tomorrow
- 24:17Speaker 7: night does not help them in any way, shape or form. Now,
- 24:19Speaker 7: if you tell me that they upset the Chiefs in
- 24:21Speaker 7: a couple of weeks and that like the Buffalo game
- 24:24Speaker 7: is kind of like a feel good win for the team,
- 24:26Speaker 7: then fine. But losing. You know, winning these types of
- 24:29Speaker 7: games are the games that are gonna matter.
- 24:31Speaker 2: And I also get an email that we're going to
- 24:33Speaker 2: miss the bus. Actually that's what Neil Perry just emails.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I don't know what he's talking about. Better get going,
- 24:39Speaker 2: all right, right, I.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Was under I was under the gun. I only had
- 24:44Speaker 1: twenty six minutes, but I did. I did get Fred
- 24:46Speaker 1: to yell at me, So I'm glad that I was
- 24:49Speaker 1: able to do that. Yeah, what the situation. Like I said,
- 24:53Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think that feels wrong for wanting to
- 24:56Speaker 1: make a change. Maybe he's decided. I'm just wondering in
- 25:00Speaker 1: you know, to Evan's point about the you know, winning
- 25:02Speaker 1: the game or losing the game. Yeah, that's that's probably
- 25:07Speaker 1: not in the best interest of the team. You probably
- 25:09Speaker 1: want to continue to keep that draft position as high
- 25:11Speaker 1: as you can. But I would argue that even if
- 25:14Speaker 1: even Thursday night, like tomorrow night, if you could win
- 25:17Speaker 1: the game thirty one twenty seven, I think you could
- 25:19Speaker 1: get something out of that. Now, we were talking about
- 25:22Speaker 1: it during that Chargers game in the fourth quarter. My god,
- 25:24Speaker 1: don't score now, like, don't win this game seven to six,
- 25:28Speaker 1: you know, and it's a miserable game and you've got
- 25:30Speaker 1: nothing out of it, you know, And the only thing
- 25:33Speaker 1: that was accomplished was that you hurt your draft position.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Whereas if you could somehow, you know, have a really
- 25:40Speaker 1: good offensive game, you could talk yourself into Okay, the
- 25:44Speaker 1: offense has been miserable, but we're finally showing signs of
- 25:47Speaker 1: life here and we're scoring some points. Like I could
- 25:50Speaker 1: you know, I could get behind some wins that way.
- 25:52Speaker 1: But you know, in terms of the kicker, I just
- 25:56Speaker 1: think it's such a mental position. Yeah, and that gets
- 25:59Speaker 1: in his head now, you know, he's already you know,
- 26:01Speaker 1: he's already got struggling because he's not making enough kicks.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I just wonder if that's maybe gonna be the end
- 26:08Speaker 1: for him in New England.
- 26:09Speaker 6: Plus part, if you make a change, we don't know
- 26:11Speaker 6: what's going on in practice too, Like what.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I'm sure he's struggling. I'm not trying to make excuses
- 26:16Speaker 1: for Chad Ryland. He hasn't done the job. You know,
- 26:18Speaker 1: it is what it is. It's a results oriented business
- 26:21Speaker 1: and he hasn't done the job.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:22Speaker 6: No, I mean the Bearinger's been up and.
- 26:25Speaker 1: He's been up and down, but he's been better than Ryan.
- 26:27Speaker 6: Yeah, so tis welcome in you guys. We've got matist
- 26:31Speaker 6: Bauman here. You know his voice from the p U
- 26:34Speaker 6: halftime show. Face real. You've been on the show before though,
- 26:38Speaker 6: been a while.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. Like all the draft podcasts, I'm
- 26:41Speaker 1: not sure how we don't do enough video for those.
- 26:43Speaker 6: That's he just wants to come down and replay his
- 26:45Speaker 6: greatest hits of players that he loved.
- 26:47Speaker 4: The late round.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Guy Quinton Johnston was right.
- 26:53Speaker 6: He thinks it was Eldred online. So I had I
- 27:03Speaker 6: had a thing. You know, we hear people talk and
- 27:05Speaker 6: you see little clips on Twitter and stuff, and I saw,
- 27:08Speaker 6: you know, Tommy Current kind of thrown out there of
- 27:10Speaker 6: Mac being the bridge quarterback. Did you see this yesterday?
- 27:12Speaker 6: I think it was next year?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Mike, do you remember last week? I told
- 27:17Speaker 1: you I wouldn't have been stunned if he played, and
- 27:19Speaker 1: by the way he was active, Like, I do not
- 27:22Speaker 1: rule out that possibility at all.
- 27:24Speaker 6: I don't either, And I mean I think I was
- 27:26Speaker 6: more okay with it, like you know, a couple of
- 27:29Speaker 6: months ago, and I've slowly been like how can they
- 27:31Speaker 6: and that, and like just in the question that kind
- 27:32Speaker 6: of came to me was just I get I get it,
- 27:34Speaker 6: Like you know, I get why you would say this,
- 27:37Speaker 6: but I also just how do you sell that to
- 27:39Speaker 6: the team.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more. If you have the the option
- 27:43Speaker 1: between Mac Jones and any other veteran guy, I would
- 27:50Speaker 1: I would offer the other one, even if I think
- 27:51Speaker 1: Mac Jones is better. Like, yeah, like, you know what
- 27:55Speaker 1: I think of Baker Mayfield, Like, if you get stuck
- 27:58Speaker 1: and you have nobody, I'd rather have Baker Mayfield. You know,
- 28:02Speaker 1: if you get stuck and you have nobody, I'd rather
- 28:04Speaker 1: have Jimmy Garoppolo. I think those guys are done. Like
- 28:07Speaker 1: I'm not. I don't think. I don't have any illusions.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I'm talking about you couldn't draft a quarterback and you
- 28:12Speaker 1: have nobody to play like Bailey z Appy in Baker
- 28:17Speaker 1: Mayfield to me would be better than Bailey's Appy and
- 28:20Speaker 1: Mac Jones.
- 28:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I agreed. You gotta like sit down with your
- 28:23Speaker 6: bril peppers and be like, so.
- 28:24Speaker 1: We're gonnas, this is what this is what we're gonna do.
- 28:28Speaker 1: We're gonna do what now.
- 28:29Speaker 6: I I did see we were in the locker room
- 28:32Speaker 6: yesterday and like and Mac was like out on the
- 28:34Speaker 6: field by himself, like still putting work in like he was.
- 28:37Speaker 6: You know, we could see him through the windows when
- 28:38Speaker 6: we went out.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Like that's when I feel bad he's and you know,
- 28:42Speaker 1: it's that human part of it. It makes me feel
- 28:45Speaker 1: like I have empathy for him because I do know
- 28:47Speaker 1: that it means a lot to him.
- 28:48Speaker 6: Do you think he do you think he plays again
- 28:50Speaker 6: this year this year, like maybe Bailey rolls ankle.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I think he definitely plays again this year. There's five
- 28:57Speaker 1: more games. I kind of they just got shut up.
- 29:00Speaker 5: I say, no, unless something happens to Bailey, like unless
- 29:02Speaker 5: you like.
- 29:04Speaker 6: What about like Bailey, Zappy just does nothing like I
- 29:07Speaker 6: mean just like last week, like it's just nothing.
- 29:09Speaker 4: It's like Evan said, nothing's kind of good sometimes.
- 29:11Speaker 5: So I feel like he's not.
- 29:13Speaker 9: He hasn't done anything to hurt the team, like in
- 29:15Speaker 9: terms of like throwing with just like bad interceptions, like
- 29:19Speaker 9: Mac just keeps doing that over and over and over,
- 29:21Speaker 9: and it's like we don't really need.
- 29:22Speaker 4: To see it. I said on the field, it was
- 29:24Speaker 4: Zappy was getting grabbed around the ankle and he just
- 29:26Speaker 4: went down and took the sack, and I was like,
- 29:27Speaker 4: that's the difference right there, Mac would just.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Oh you would have it up and it would have
- 29:31Speaker 5: been a pick.
- 29:31Speaker 6: So yeah, those bad plays, I mean, no question, but
- 29:34Speaker 6: I just I mean, we were talking about in the
- 29:35Speaker 6: locker room a little bit and I just said, you know,
- 29:37Speaker 6: it's like for every bit of criticism that we've thrown
- 29:39Speaker 6: and lobbed in Mac Jones's direction, some of it right
- 29:42Speaker 6: and some of it wrong. Like I've just never questioned
- 29:44Speaker 6: his like work ethic, like he's always that's.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Why done everything you ask I kind of feel, yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 1: like you know, so the quarterback that replaced him went
- 29:51Speaker 1: out did absolutely nothing and is considered But no, no, no,
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's his job.
- 29:56Speaker 6: You got to keep him in.
- 29:58Speaker 9: I know, I feel like it's tough because it's he's
- 30:00Speaker 9: working hard, but like there's no change notice on the field,
- 30:04Speaker 9: Like that's that's what's tough with Mac. It's like, you know,
- 30:06Speaker 9: he's putting in the hours in the time. He's not
- 30:07Speaker 9: like playing video games and having to get written in
- 30:10Speaker 9: his contract that he needs to write more, watch more film.
- 30:12Speaker 5: That's not the problem.
- 30:13Speaker 9: But when he's on the field, it's like, why are
- 30:15Speaker 9: we not noticing any change?
- 30:16Speaker 6: Study a task is still failing, especially like off the buy,
- 30:19Speaker 6: I felt like because I don't know what I was expecting,
- 30:20Speaker 6: not that I was expecting anything. I was just maybe,
- 30:23Speaker 6: you know, fooling myself of maybe maybe this week off
- 30:25Speaker 6: helped him, and you know, it couldn't have gone any
- 30:27Speaker 6: worse than it did in Germany, you know, And but
- 30:30Speaker 6: he just came out and it was the same exact thing.
- 30:32Speaker 6: That's just what why can't he break that cycle? You know,
- 30:34Speaker 6: that's a great question. There are some there are there
- 30:36Speaker 6: are some positives for him, but I mean, then Devin
- 30:38Speaker 6: mccordy was out today asked the question of who do
- 30:40Speaker 6: you blame mac or the organization? And I mean really
- 30:43Speaker 6: Devin kind of lated at the organization's feet.
- 30:46Speaker 1: But it's just it's so hard on all the writers
- 30:48Speaker 1: chimed in. Devin speaks the truth. I like, I know,
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'm the only one that thinks that they still give
- 30:54Speaker 1: him all the excuses in the world.
- 30:55Speaker 6: But there it is, you gotta it's just it's I mean,
- 30:58Speaker 6: it is hard to untangle. But like I just I
- 31:00Speaker 6: can't get away from the thought that I had of
- 31:03Speaker 6: when you know, I saw Tom kind of throw that
- 31:04Speaker 6: out there, and you know, something that we had talked
- 31:06Speaker 6: to about too, but just how do you sell that
- 31:08Speaker 6: to the team. You know that that's the biggest thing
- 31:10Speaker 6: for me, Like I understand it from a first round
- 31:12Speaker 6: draft pick perspective, and you know what he's done, and
- 31:15Speaker 6: you know what what you what you're hoping that he
- 31:17Speaker 6: was going to grow into and that you still don't
- 31:18Speaker 6: want to lose sight of that. But at the same time,
- 31:21Speaker 6: its just continues to look the same, you know, no
- 31:23Speaker 6: matter kind of who was around team.
- 31:26Speaker 1: But in the fan base, right that's tough right now
- 31:29Speaker 1: because people people are cranky. People are cranky.
- 31:33Speaker 6: Really, I hadn't notice.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I mean the guys weren't there. But in Germany, the
- 31:38Speaker 4: Zappi chance in that stadium, I was like, this is
- 31:41Speaker 4: this is tough. Really, I just don't get.
- 31:43Speaker 2: How you bounce me.
- 31:44Speaker 6: We had some Zappi chance here, like they were like encouraging.
- 31:47Speaker 4: I'm saying, like European soccer fan stadium.
- 31:50Speaker 9: Like.
- 31:52Speaker 2: The game.
- 31:54Speaker 1: And then Sunday like even when they're getting shut out
- 31:58Speaker 1: for three and a half orders, I think there was
- 32:01Speaker 1: a belief that he's gonna do it.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Yeah, here's the part that noise is you got zap zap,
- 32:07Speaker 4: And I'm like he did an end around a Taekwon Thornton.
- 32:09Speaker 6: He didn't do anything.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Why are we chanty?
- 32:12Speaker 6: They're just trying at least it wasn't. I thought we
- 32:13Speaker 6: were gonna have to bring back Mac chance to bring
- 32:15Speaker 6: back Man.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 32:17Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 32:18Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't think you're ever going to get that
- 32:20Speaker 9: people have taped over their back Jones jerseys.
- 32:25Speaker 6: That's just the most depressing thing for football franchise when
- 32:27Speaker 6: you it gets to that, Like every franchise kind of
- 32:29Speaker 6: goes through that, when you figure out like a certain
- 32:32Speaker 6: segment of the fan base QUARTERBA brown quarterback with the
- 32:37Speaker 6: brown paper bags, just setting it on fire.
- 32:39Speaker 9: But that was everything. When I saw the photo, I can't.
- 32:44Speaker 6: Well, it's a plenty of emails here coming in and
- 32:48Speaker 6: uh are we okay to go to the phone yet, Paul,
- 32:51Speaker 6: I'm feeling that this is a little thrown off.
- 32:53Speaker 1: It's usually.
- 32:56Speaker 6: Usually when my host it's a it's a mindset and
- 32:59Speaker 6: you start off and you get into it and you
- 33:01Speaker 6: know Fred was here, and now it's like, all.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Yeah, more than enough time to clear your throat.
- 33:07Speaker 6: All right, Josh, all right, let me clear my throat. Speed?
- 33:11Speaker 6: What's going on?
- 33:11Speaker 4: Speed?
- 33:11Speaker 1: How are you hey, I'm all right.
- 33:13Speaker 11: How you guys doing all right?
- 33:18Speaker 1: Yesterday?
- 33:18Speaker 11: That really resonated for me, at least he said it
- 33:21Speaker 11: was something like, they don't suck because they turned the
- 33:24Speaker 11: ball over. They turned the ball over because they sucked, And.
- 33:28Speaker 12: I thought that was good.
- 33:28Speaker 11: Like Bill's always harped on not turning the ball over.
- 33:31Speaker 11: You know, he's had like a hair trigger benching your players,
- 33:34Speaker 11: like Stevenson, but like but these days, when Bill invokes
- 33:39Speaker 11: the turnovers are our main problem with offense, it rings
- 33:43Speaker 11: a little hollow. It's like he's I wonder if he's
- 33:45Speaker 11: like deflecting you can discuss, like to talk about what's
- 33:48Speaker 11: really going wrong and leading to the turnovers, like he's
- 33:51Speaker 11: treating a symptom like it's a disease. Yeah, And I
- 33:54Speaker 11: wanted to know, your guys thought, does he is that
- 33:57Speaker 11: what he's doing is.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So I strongly believe that speed I do, And I
- 34:01Speaker 1: think that that's also part of the reason why he's
- 34:03Speaker 1: been so evasive when asked about the quarterback, Because if
- 34:07Speaker 1: they get if I continue to say, you know, I
- 34:11Speaker 1: told everybody to be ready, I expect I expect you
- 34:14Speaker 1: know what they're all they both deserve. If I keep,
- 34:18Speaker 1: you know, sort of you know, be laboring this point.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Instead of just naming a starter. You name a starter
- 34:24Speaker 1: and the questions end, right, So these are what the
- 34:28Speaker 1: questions are going to be. And then maybe they're not
- 34:29Speaker 1: going to talk about, well, it doesn't really matter who
- 34:31Speaker 1: the quarterback is because we're not moving the ball and
- 34:35Speaker 1: scoring points. I keep talking about turnovers, and people are
- 34:38Speaker 1: going to keep saying and some in the media have
- 34:41Speaker 1: glombed onto that. You know, they put the turnover ratio
- 34:44Speaker 1: up every week, and you look and there's like Kansas
- 34:47Speaker 1: City's down there and Cleveland's down there are teams that
- 34:51Speaker 1: have winning records that are down around where the Patriots
- 34:53Speaker 1: are in the turnover margin, that are eight nine games
- 34:56Speaker 1: ahead of them in the standings. It's not just about turnover. Now, obviously,
- 35:02Speaker 1: you throw as many interceptions as Mac was throwing, that's
- 35:05Speaker 1: gonna hurt you. But I again, I just don't think
- 35:08Speaker 1: that they're two and ten because of turnovers. I think
- 35:10Speaker 1: there's a lot other factors that are involved.
- 35:13Speaker 11: I agree with pet and the turnovers become relevant to
- 35:15Speaker 11: the quarterback discussion a little bit because, like Matisa is
- 35:18Speaker 11: just saying, you know, Zappy, you grab him by the ankle,
- 35:22Speaker 11: maybe he goes down, whereas maybe Max tries to do
- 35:24Speaker 11: some circus mistake and turn the ball over.
- 35:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 9: Yeah, I think Mac is just making too many mistakes
- 35:31Speaker 9: that you would see from a rookie now. And it's
- 35:33Speaker 9: like you're about to be coming up on your you know,
- 35:36Speaker 9: contract extension year. You're still doing the same things that
- 35:38Speaker 9: a rooie would be.
- 35:39Speaker 1: And I think that the difference is he's been playing
- 35:41Speaker 1: every game and they're not scoring any points and he
- 35:44Speaker 1: has that press to I have to make a play here.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Yeah, well, it's just they have.
- 35:47Speaker 1: To make a play because we're not scoring and we're
- 35:49Speaker 1: punting and we're punting. We're punting and we're not scoring
- 35:51Speaker 1: and we're not scoring. Where Zapie went in for one
- 35:53Speaker 1: game and they have to endure not scoring.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, it's just like though those plays where
- 35:57Speaker 6: he's been wrapped up and he just throws the ball
- 36:00Speaker 6: all out like.
- 36:00Speaker 4: Like that just it can't happen in the NFL, right,
- 36:03Speaker 4: the difference between losing and not turning the ball over
- 36:05Speaker 4: and losing and turned the ball.
- 36:06Speaker 1: And I also say, like, you know, the goal for
- 36:08Speaker 1: the quarterback isn't to just not make mistakes. It's to
- 36:11Speaker 1: make plays. And you know that's why I didn't really
- 36:15Speaker 1: think there was a whole lot of difference between the
- 36:16Speaker 1: two performances Mac and against the Giants and Zappi against
- 36:20Speaker 1: the Chargers. To me, was very much the same, only
- 36:23Speaker 1: you didn't turn the ball over.
- 36:25Speaker 9: And I think the panic, like the footwork and the
- 36:28Speaker 9: panic that Mac has like Zappi doesn't do that like
- 36:31Speaker 9: when pass when Khalilza has been better.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he's better in the pocket.
- 36:35Speaker 6: Keeps his eyes down feel a little bit.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought he did a good job of moving
- 36:39Speaker 1: around the pocket early in the game, especially, but you
- 36:41Speaker 1: know at the end of the game he got sacked
- 36:43Speaker 1: five times. Anything else speaking, that is going.
- 36:47Speaker 11: To get himself in trouble with one of those side
- 36:49Speaker 11: arms throws, I predicted the next game.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he's going to do it tomorrow, like the one
- 36:52Speaker 1: he threw against the Giants late in the game that
- 36:54Speaker 1: the linebacker dropped, like you just kind of like get
- 36:57Speaker 1: rid of it and went right to the guy and
- 36:59Speaker 1: the guy dropped lot this summer at all, Right, he's
- 37:02Speaker 1: a gunslinger.
- 37:03Speaker 6: Thanks to b appreciate it. Yeah, I it's.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Not ideal to like go into these games, you know,
- 37:09Speaker 1: like Tamara said, like six nothing, like you know, well,
- 37:12Speaker 1: who's gonna get the six? You know, I don't know,
- 37:15Speaker 1: but it just would be nice to go into one
- 37:17Speaker 1: of these games thinking they could win another way. Yeah,
- 37:20Speaker 1: you had said, like you thought that maybe Mac comes
- 37:22Speaker 1: out of the bye week, and like I've had that thought,
- 37:25Speaker 1: not just with Mac, but the team in general, like
- 37:27Speaker 1: three or four times this year, Like you know what,
- 37:30Speaker 1: They're gonna go out and they're gonna score in their
- 37:32Speaker 1: first drive, then they're gonna cause a turnover in the
- 37:33Speaker 1: second drive and go up ten nothing or fourteen nothing,
- 37:36Speaker 1: and it's just gonna be one of those games they're gonna
- 37:38Speaker 1: unload the season season's worth of frustration on some team.
- 37:42Speaker 1: It just never shows, and it just never happens.
- 37:44Speaker 6: I mean, probably not totally the same, but maybe a
- 37:46Speaker 6: little bit in O nine with that Tennessee game where
- 37:48Speaker 6: they were kind of struggling and then all of a sudden,
- 37:50Speaker 6: the snow here it was just like boom, fifty points.
- 37:53Speaker 6: It was like two thousand and seven, all of a sudden. Again.
- 37:55Speaker 6: I don't know, I've I've been waiting for those things
- 37:57Speaker 6: to happen, but it just it just how and then
- 38:00Speaker 6: I mean, and another big thing I think we got
- 38:02Speaker 6: to talk about too is just Remondre, Like, I mean,
- 38:05Speaker 6: a it sounds like high ankle sprain, which was what
- 38:07Speaker 6: it looked like, gonna be out for a little bit.
- 38:10Speaker 6: He's been their best player on offense, right, I mean,
- 38:12Speaker 6: and now what do you do? Do you do you
- 38:15Speaker 6: give Kevin Harris a shot to try Jamichael Hasty doesn't
- 38:19Speaker 6: matter or it doesn't matter, or do you I mean,
- 38:22Speaker 6: I think Zeke seemed kind of intrigued by getting like
- 38:24Speaker 6: carrying the load and really getting a chance to to
- 38:26Speaker 6: to do it. So I don't know why not. I mean,
- 38:28Speaker 6: I'd like to see a look at Kevin Harris, but
- 38:30Speaker 6: he seems like an afterthought at this point.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Yeah, they must just not like him very much.
- 38:34Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm interested to see, like kind of to your point,
- 38:36Speaker 9: to see what you have, Like see Kevin Harris, I mean,
- 38:39Speaker 9: would have loved to see Kashawan bootymore, but obviously Injuris.
- 38:42Speaker 5: And things getting away.
- 38:43Speaker 9: But I'm like, see all the guys that you haven't
- 38:45Speaker 9: really had a chance to see before the end of
- 38:46Speaker 9: the year, to see, like, Okay, what do we have?
- 38:48Speaker 9: What do we want to get rid of what do
- 38:50Speaker 9: we want to fix? Like, I feel like it's hard
- 38:51Speaker 9: when you can't really see these guys.
- 38:53Speaker 4: That's why I want to go to the league, because
- 38:54Speaker 4: I just want, Like, what do you have to lose?
- 38:55Speaker 4: I just want I just want the manitation football, honestly,
- 38:57Speaker 4: Like I just want to see some passes, any.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Well, passes. I don't know about mylik with the passes.
- 39:02Speaker 4: That's fine. You know, he can juke somebody out of
- 39:04Speaker 4: his shoes. I don't care it is.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I mean, you know, the key there, I think is
- 39:08Speaker 1: that they need to find a way to stay on
- 39:10Speaker 1: the field the offense, Like you need to get you know,
- 39:13Speaker 1: some first downs and then maybe if you get something going,
- 39:15Speaker 1: you can throw them a leak coming here.
- 39:17Speaker 6: I think that's what it is.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Like four to three and outs in the first half.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Say that, and then I looked up at the scoreboard
- 39:22Speaker 4: and the time possession was pretty equal, which makes no
- 39:24Speaker 4: sense to me.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Well, the Chargers didn't move the ball lead, that's true.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I mean they both had two hundred and fifty yards of.
- 39:28Speaker 6: Offense, fifteen punts total.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of punting going on that one.
- 39:33Speaker 4: I'm waiting for a score of Gami honestly, that's all
- 39:36Speaker 4: we need.
- 39:36Speaker 6: Like, what are the score of Gami's below ten points?
- 39:38Speaker 4: Well, we googled yesterday. We thought we're gonna get a
- 39:40Speaker 4: zero zero score of Goami, but that happened nine eight
- 39:43Speaker 4: nineteen forty eight.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Could nine eight be a score of Gomi?
- 39:46Speaker 6: I probably it's the four safeties. Maybe because I'm five
- 39:52Speaker 6: two as well, it's putting up a baseball score.
- 39:56Speaker 9: If the score is I can't I can't even I
- 39:59Speaker 9: can't even say it out of my mouth.
- 40:00Speaker 5: The score is five to you? Oh my god.
- 40:02Speaker 6: L from Wisconsin chimed in on on email said, you
- 40:04Speaker 6: know what, would y'all know what would be hilarious if
- 40:07Speaker 6: the defense shuts out the Steelers but the offense throws
- 40:09Speaker 6: a pick six and that would be a new low.
- 40:15Speaker 6: And that's why I just would like to see the
- 40:16Speaker 6: defense score. I don't really like, you know, I think
- 40:18Speaker 6: we're all like win. I don't know, I don't really
- 40:20Speaker 6: want to win all that much, But I just think
- 40:21Speaker 6: it would be really fun to watch the defense celebrate
- 40:24Speaker 6: and score maybe a big man touchdown.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Oh you know Trubisky. You know he could give you,
- 40:29Speaker 1: He could give you some opportunities, you.
- 40:31Speaker 4: See the whole Nase and Trubisky stuff that was hilarious.
- 40:36Speaker 4: He was like a reporter asked Na. He was like, so,
- 40:39Speaker 4: what do you think of Trubisky's leadership? And You're like,
- 40:42Speaker 4: it's okay, I guess he is. He like vocal, and
- 40:46Speaker 4: I was like, not me not. She's like, I guess
- 40:49Speaker 4: it was a really bad day. They got some stuff going.
- 40:51Speaker 1: So what I would say with that is that's pretty
- 40:54Speaker 1: ironic that a player is asked about someone else's leadership
- 40:57Speaker 1: and he pooh poos it like that's terrible leadership by
- 41:02Speaker 1: Naji Harris. I don't care if. I don't care if
- 41:05Speaker 1: it's true or not.
- 41:06Speaker 4: I can't take Najie Harris seriously anymore because I saw
- 41:09Speaker 4: a tweet that says he looks like he's running in jeans.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I didn't want to get into a man I'm gonna
- 41:15Speaker 1: play them now. I want to see it, which I
- 41:17Speaker 1: think is bad for the Patriots that if he warrens better,
- 41:21Speaker 1: well not only Warren's better, but if Najie Harris plays
- 41:25Speaker 1: and they have Harris and Warren, I know what they'll do.
- 41:27Speaker 1: They'll go into the game and say, we're gonna run
- 41:29Speaker 1: the ball twenty five times tonight, and we're going to
- 41:31Speaker 1: establish the run and we're gonna do it. You know.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I think Harris is more of that physical back Warren smaller, shiftier,
- 41:37Speaker 1: which has always been better against the Patriots. Now maybe
- 41:41Speaker 1: they'll look at it and say, we can't just we
- 41:42Speaker 1: can't ask Jalen Warren to carry the ball thirty times
- 41:45Speaker 1: like we would with both of them together. Maybe they'll
- 41:47Speaker 1: throw it, because if you want to try to run
- 41:49Speaker 1: against the Patriots, you're gonna lose. Yeah, I mean like offensively.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I'm not saying you're gonna lose the game, because we
- 41:54Speaker 1: all saw last week they still won the game.
- 41:56Speaker 4: But then Deontay Johnson's kind of tuned out. Apparently he
- 42:00Speaker 4: stuff with him.
- 42:01Speaker 1: So this is going to be part of my rant
- 42:04Speaker 1: when I go on my shows later, like this big
- 42:07Speaker 1: thing that Felger has and tomorrow will like this because
- 42:09Speaker 1: it's really complimentary a guy who would you rather have
- 42:14Speaker 1: been over the last fifty years? The Patriots are the Steelers,
- 42:17Speaker 1: and my answer is the Patriots totally respecting everything Pittsburgh's done,
- 42:24Speaker 1: great program programs. I like to say thank you, but
- 42:27Speaker 1: I'm not enamored with being in my bad years quote
- 42:32Speaker 1: unquote going nine to eight and not being a threat.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I didn't really have much use for that. In twenty
- 42:38Speaker 1: one when the Patriots were ten and seven, it made
- 42:40Speaker 1: the playoffs, but they didn't really threaten anybody. And then
- 42:44Speaker 1: last year they went eight and nine. Like, I don't
- 42:47Speaker 1: give Pittsburgh points for avoiding this year. Like I don't
- 42:52Speaker 1: really think there's a whole lot of difference between where
- 42:54Speaker 1: the two teams are right now.
- 42:55Speaker 4: You could say that screwed him over in the long
- 42:56Speaker 4: run too, because you know, you just take that big
- 42:58Speaker 4: Ben year where his arm is cooked, you finished, like
- 43:00Speaker 4: gos you might have a new guy.
- 43:02Speaker 1: And I get I give now listen, I give Tomlin
- 43:05Speaker 1: not sucking up to you to Marr, but I give
- 43:07Speaker 1: Tomlin credit for keeping it together, finding ways to win
- 43:10Speaker 1: these games when they're outplayed in a lot of these games,
- 43:13Speaker 1: they find a way at the end because they're tough, Yeah,
- 43:15Speaker 1: and they play hard for him and all that stuff.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I'm not taking that away from Pittsburgh. They have a
- 43:19Speaker 1: great like I said, they have a great program. The
- 43:22Speaker 1: guys are, but I don't think they're really all that
- 43:24Speaker 1: much closer to contention than the Patriots are. Even though
- 43:26Speaker 1: there's seven and five.
- 43:27Speaker 6: And that's what like you discovered. I think, you know,
- 43:29Speaker 6: right going almost into the twenty twenty season was just
- 43:31Speaker 6: like the fear of the middle, Like you know, it's
- 43:33Speaker 6: like either be a contender or suck like just but
- 43:37Speaker 6: just don't be in the middle. That's the worst place
- 43:39Speaker 6: to be because you're never going to get out of
- 43:41Speaker 6: the cycle. And by that token, do you hope that
- 43:44Speaker 6: that this I mean, I have no idea what we're
- 43:47Speaker 6: in for next offseason, but is this a one you know,
- 43:49Speaker 6: is this your chance right here to like you know,
- 43:51Speaker 6: you're not you don't want to be back at the draft.
- 43:52Speaker 6: You want to get this top pick and you know
- 43:55Speaker 6: where you're gonna be in the second round, et cetera,
- 43:56Speaker 6: all the way down, and you don't have to be
- 43:58Speaker 6: back here. You get the pieces in now you know
- 44:00Speaker 6: we can get back to content. I don't know, it's
- 44:02Speaker 6: it's a huge lift. We'll see how how it unfolds
- 44:05Speaker 6: with it with everything now that we're we're getting ready
- 44:07Speaker 6: to face here in the offseason.
- 44:09Speaker 9: What I think is super interesting is that Ju's first
- 44:12Speaker 9: time playing the Steelers since he left.
- 44:14Speaker 5: He said that in the locker.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Room yesterday, Big game from Juju.
- 44:18Speaker 4: One catch seven yards.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Look, I'm looking Buck fifty from Juju.
- 44:22Speaker 6: Cracks me up in regards that we I don't think
- 44:24Speaker 6: we said once that Ja C. Jackson was playing the
- 44:27Speaker 6: Chargers and like made any comment last week about jac
- 44:30Speaker 6: Jackson playing against the team that you know.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Just I guess that he played as well as people
- 44:35Speaker 1: sort of like he settled in now and had a great,
- 44:37Speaker 1: good game. Like I didn't see that.
- 44:39Speaker 6: I saw him chasing a lot, yeah.
- 44:41Speaker 1: In that game. Jonathan Jones, I thought was really good
- 44:43Speaker 1: in that game. I thought Bryant was competitive in that game.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones, especially though I thought he was really good.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Mills made a couple of plays in the Chargers game
- 44:51Speaker 1: that I haven't really seen all year.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Yep.
- 44:53Speaker 1: I didn't see that really from Jackson. I thought he
- 44:55Speaker 1: had one play that he had pretty good coverage on.
- 44:58Speaker 1: You know, I let everybody, let everybody know after the
- 45:01Speaker 1: pass was incomplete.
- 45:03Speaker 6: All right, well, our uh, our food is here. So
- 45:05Speaker 6: we're gonna take a little bit of an early break
- 45:07Speaker 6: here and eat and then we'll be right back after
- 45:09Speaker 6: this messages.

- 45:57Speaker 8: Bailey Zappy had his press conference with the media yesterday.
- 46:00Speaker 8: Let's listen to what he had to say.
- 46:02Speaker 14: What are your thoughts about the game in Pittsburgh.
- 46:06Speaker 10: I'm excited. You know, it's a good opportunity for us
- 46:09Speaker 10: to go out there and you know, play as a team,
- 46:11Speaker 10: play calmentary football, and you know, start playing well as
- 46:14Speaker 10: an offense. So I'm excited.
- 46:16Speaker 15: What did you learn from Sunday and what can you
- 46:18Speaker 15: take it to Thursday now with that next next start.
- 46:22Speaker 10: Yeah, there was some you know, some mysteries by me,
- 46:24Speaker 10: some misthrows by me. There are some things that you know,
- 46:28Speaker 10: I can you know, better ball placement, things like that.
- 46:31Speaker 10: So just been working on that stuff as much as
- 46:33Speaker 10: possible today and tomorrow before we head off and try
- 46:36Speaker 10: to get ready for Thursday in such a short leak.
- 46:41Speaker 10: I mean, I guess so because you don't get as
- 46:43Speaker 10: much physical reps as more mental. But we try as
- 46:46Speaker 10: much as possible, like before or after walk throughs or
- 46:48Speaker 10: whatever we do, to try to just go out there
- 46:50Speaker 10: and throw as much as possible, whether it's just walking through,
- 46:53Speaker 10: just standing there, just you know, just try to throw
- 46:54Speaker 10: the ball around.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Horse, Are you sick at all?
- 46:59Speaker 10: No, I got a horse. After the game, I'll screaming
- 47:01Speaker 10: and everything, trying to make sure everybody can hear me
- 47:04Speaker 10: out there.
- 47:06Speaker 1: When you look back, Toto, you something you felt like
- 47:08Speaker 1: you gelt better upon the adventure. Things absolutely as you
- 47:13Speaker 1: should expect someone.
- 47:15Speaker 10: I would say like the operation as a whole was
- 47:17Speaker 10: pretty well. By the offense, you know, we never really had,
- 47:21Speaker 10: you know, any questions about the plays or anything like that.
- 47:24Speaker 10: We got in the houddle, we broke the houttle, we
- 47:25Speaker 10: got to line, and you know, we were rolling. So
- 47:27Speaker 10: I think the whole operation, of course, you know, I
- 47:29Speaker 10: think there was two or three instances where you know,
- 47:32Speaker 10: we can fix and move it on to the next game.
- 47:33Speaker 10: But other than that, I think it was pretty solid.
- 47:35Speaker 15: You the pre staff operation, really, how much more comfortable
- 47:39Speaker 15: are you confident?
- 47:40Speaker 1: Are you with alerts, making the pre snap reads and
- 47:44Speaker 1: adjustments that you need to do.
- 47:45Speaker 4: There's a lot of the player, the quarterback in the offense.
- 47:48Speaker 10: Yeah, I feel like I get more and more comfortable
- 47:51Speaker 10: every week the more I watch film of the opponent.
- 47:54Speaker 10: That also helps, you know, just the preparation throughout the
- 47:57Speaker 10: week and understanding you know, why we're alerting, why we're
- 48:00Speaker 10: killing took plays like that. That always helps, so you
- 48:03Speaker 10: know this short week, you know, that's the only thing
- 48:05Speaker 10: we have to do now is just mental reps. So
- 48:07Speaker 10: that's what I'm really diving into right now.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Bigally, just in the second half of the game, you
- 48:11Speaker 1: took a lot of shots, specifically to Devonte Parker. I
- 48:13Speaker 1: was one of your terms of that connection. Is that
- 48:15Speaker 1: the kind of thing where if you see them one
- 48:16Speaker 1: on one, you have the freedom to take those opportunities
- 48:18Speaker 1: Or were there some times where you felt maybe you
- 48:20Speaker 1: locked in on them when there were other opportunities on
- 48:22Speaker 1: other parts of the field.
- 48:23Speaker 10: Yeah, that was something that going into halftime that we
- 48:26Speaker 10: talked about that the second half we wanted to push
- 48:28Speaker 10: the ball down field a little bit, and you know,
- 48:31Speaker 10: we have some guys that can you know, get those
- 48:32Speaker 10: fifty to fifty balls, and you know, DP is one
- 48:34Speaker 10: of those guys where you know, you kind of put
- 48:36Speaker 10: it up anywhere and he has opportunity to go up
- 48:38Speaker 10: and get it. So does Taekwon, and so does really
- 48:40Speaker 10: everybody else. So I think that was kind of our mindset.
- 48:44Speaker 10: We just wanted to, you know, attack down the field
- 48:46Speaker 10: going into the second half, and you know, kind of
- 48:48Speaker 10: like you said, if it's one on one, you know,
- 48:50Speaker 10: I kind of like my guy better than their guy.
- 48:52Speaker 10: So I'm just let them go get it.
- 48:54Speaker 5: You actually.
- 48:57Speaker 10: Coaches, you know, made it pretty clear. But I'll let him,
- 49:00Speaker 10: you know, announce it to everybody that's you know, private
- 49:02Speaker 10: right now, and whenever he announces it, that's that's with him.
- 49:06Speaker 10: What you say you've learned about yourself this well, you
- 49:13Speaker 10: know a lot. I guess a lot of things that
- 49:15Speaker 10: I can grow on, a lot of things that you know,
- 49:17Speaker 10: I can improve on. But you know, I I would
- 49:20Speaker 10: like to say around here is taking a day by
- 49:22Speaker 10: day and that's just you know, it's very cliche to
- 49:25Speaker 10: say that, but you know, it's every day there's something
- 49:27Speaker 10: that you can get better at, whether it's you know,
- 49:29Speaker 10: mental things or you know, physical things, throwing and stuff
- 49:32Speaker 10: like that, and there's always ways to get better. And
- 49:35Speaker 10: that's kind of how I do it.
- 49:37Speaker 6: Sunday, it was your first start of the season. How
- 49:38Speaker 6: much did the opportunity mean to you, especially given.
- 49:41Speaker 10: You know, with him not being here on cut.
- 49:44Speaker 4: Day cut down day.
- 49:45Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean it was you know, it's been a
- 49:47Speaker 10: long ride, of course, so to be out there was
- 49:51Speaker 10: an amazing opportunity. You know, we didn't get the you know,
- 49:53Speaker 10: the result that we wanted, so hopefully we can you know,
- 49:57Speaker 10: learn from it, grow from it and going into Thursday
- 49:59Speaker 10: and do everything we can, uh, you know, do everything
- 50:01Speaker 10: I can to put the team in the best possible situation,
- 50:03Speaker 10: you know, to win the game.
- 50:06Speaker 9: I actually you confirms of the multiple offers getting this
- 50:09Speaker 9: opportunity to start interesting those feelings, and you kind of made.
- 50:12Speaker 10: That right to me to stick around. Yeah, you know,
- 50:15Speaker 10: this is the place I wanted to be. I wanted
- 50:17Speaker 10: to play for ob I wanted to play for Coach Belichick,
- 50:19Speaker 10: and I wanted to play with the you know, the
- 50:21Speaker 10: guys that I've built a relationship with over the last
- 50:24Speaker 10: you know, a year and a half two years. So
- 50:26Speaker 10: this is where I wanted to be.
- 50:27Speaker 1: It was probably frustration might not be the right word,
- 50:30Speaker 1: but where are you at with you guys?
- 50:32Speaker 15: Feel like you do a lot of good things with
- 50:34Speaker 15: the games to color did and that just breaking that
- 50:36Speaker 15: barrier is starting to knock on put the folly into
- 50:39Speaker 15: get points. How close do you feel that the guys
- 50:41Speaker 15: are as unity too?
- 50:43Speaker 10: Yeah, we're close. We talk about that a lot. You know,
- 50:46Speaker 10: it's just one or two things you know that you
- 50:49Speaker 10: know that happened that you know, kind of haltered from
- 50:52Speaker 10: you from scoring and we just got to fix those
- 50:54Speaker 10: one or two things. And once we do that, I
- 50:56Speaker 10: feel like we'll be able to start putting points on
- 50:57Speaker 10: the board.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Obviously and do what's best for the team. But how
- 51:02Speaker 1: do you look in these next few weeks just for you,
- 51:05Speaker 1: you guys are the future or in the l What
- 51:08Speaker 1: do you do for that?
- 51:09Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 51:09Speaker 10: I mean nobody really, you know, ask any questions when
- 51:13Speaker 10: you start winning. So as long as we just go
- 51:15Speaker 10: out there and you know, do the best we can
- 51:17Speaker 10: and put points on the board as far as an
- 51:19Speaker 10: offense and start winning as a team, I think you know,
- 51:22Speaker 10: that'll all kind of handle itself.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Really.
- 51:24Speaker 11: The fact that you're up at the podium today and
- 51:26Speaker 11: there's not as much uncertainty from a public perspective there
- 51:30Speaker 11: who's the guy right now?
- 51:31Speaker 16: How much does that kind of help you just embrace
- 51:33Speaker 16: that role?
- 51:35Speaker 10: Yeah? I mean that helps you know, Like I said,
- 51:37Speaker 10: I'll wait for the official announcement from coach, but you know,
- 51:41Speaker 10: I try to prepare every week, you know, like I'm
- 51:43Speaker 10: the guy, so nothing different from me.
- 51:47Speaker 14: How much does it help you improve that from start
- 51:49Speaker 14: to finish. In the last game, you were under center
- 51:51Speaker 14: the whole time, and I'm going into this week of
- 51:53Speaker 14: preparation and meetings, film practice, with time you guys have
- 51:56Speaker 14: for the for Pittsburgh that you're the guy that's leading
- 51:59Speaker 14: the offense quarterback.
- 52:00Speaker 10: Now, yeah, I mean, of course it's different, but you know,
- 52:05Speaker 10: you gotta you gotta approach every week. You know that
- 52:07Speaker 10: coach always says everybody has to be ready to play.
- 52:09Speaker 10: So you have to be ready no matter what. You
- 52:11Speaker 10: gotta prepare like you're gonna be thrown in there, whether
- 52:13Speaker 10: it's the second player, whether it's the last play. So
- 52:17Speaker 10: you know, that's kind of the mentality that we have here,
- 52:19Speaker 10: and you know, just no matter what's going on, you
- 52:21Speaker 10: just prepare to play.
- 52:22Speaker 4: Like what time was it when you first started looking
- 52:24Speaker 4: at the Steelers?
- 52:27Speaker 10: Probably Sunday night is when I kind of look back
- 52:30Speaker 10: at their Cardinals game eleven, I mean love thirty, Probably
- 52:37Speaker 10: like four thirty in the morning, I don't know, sometime
- 52:41Speaker 10: after our game.
- 52:42Speaker 6: I'm playing there in that atmosphere.
- 52:44Speaker 15: David was talking about it through a game in Pittsburgh
- 52:47Speaker 15: Thursday until before the amosphere.
- 52:50Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean that's you know, I was able to
- 52:52Speaker 10: be there last year. Of course I was an active
- 52:53Speaker 10: last year, so I got to you know, kind of
- 52:55Speaker 10: see it from outside of view, I kind of like
- 52:56Speaker 10: a fan view, and it was pretty awesome. You know,
- 53:00Speaker 10: that field, I don't know what was that a actressure? Hinfield?
- 53:06Speaker 10: I mean, it's pretty legendary. So the Steelers organization is
- 53:10Speaker 10: an awesome organization. They've been good for a long time.
- 53:12Speaker 10: So to be able to play them at their places,
- 53:14Speaker 10: you know, it's pretty unreal.
- 53:16Speaker 8: Are those conversations Like with Bill O'Brien on the sideline
- 53:19Speaker 8: during the game.
- 53:19Speaker 1: I know you said yesterday on the radio that your
- 53:21Speaker 1: relationship with him has grown a lot over these last
- 53:23Speaker 1: couple of months.
- 53:24Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean it's you know, it's kind of back
- 53:26Speaker 10: and forth or whatever he sees, he lets me know.
- 53:28Speaker 10: And then you know, if I'm seeing something on the
- 53:30Speaker 10: field that you know, if they've showed it on film
- 53:32Speaker 10: or I avage shown it on film, I'm kind of
- 53:34Speaker 10: giving him that, you know, just throwing each other off,
- 53:37Speaker 10: you know, throwing stuff off each other's brains and just
- 53:40Speaker 10: you know, most majority of the time, it's you know,
- 53:42Speaker 10: after the series, we're looking at the iPads. You know,
- 53:45Speaker 10: if I miss a read or miss up, you know,
- 53:47Speaker 10: miss a coverage, you know, he shows me, like what
- 53:49Speaker 10: I can look at better or what I can you know,
- 53:51Speaker 10: what tendencies that they're showing that can kind of help
- 53:53Speaker 10: me pre snap. So it's just kind of dissecting the
- 53:56Speaker 10: previous drive and then kind of moving on and what
- 53:58Speaker 10: we're gonna do the next drive And what.
- 54:01Speaker 7: Do you feel like your your comfort level is throwing
- 54:03Speaker 7: into juju Parker. You know some of those guys that
- 54:06Speaker 7: maybe didn't have as many reps in the summer.
- 54:09Speaker 10: At times, I'm comfortable with those guys one hundred percent.
- 54:12Speaker 10: You know, they're great players, and you know it makes
- 54:14Speaker 10: it easy for a guy, you know, for a quarterback.
- 54:16Speaker 10: You just put it really anywhere and those guys are gonna,
- 54:18Speaker 10: you know, make a play on it. So you know,
- 54:20Speaker 10: those guys are good receivers. And I'm excited to be,
- 54:23Speaker 10: you know, be thrown to those guys.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I do you go put a handle any pressure and
- 54:27Speaker 1: not making something too big where that you know it
- 54:30Speaker 1: becomes a hindrance.
- 54:32Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, control what you can control. So it's
- 54:39Speaker 10: you know, that's what we say around here. I guess,
- 54:42Speaker 10: you know, I don't I'm not really big into those things,
- 54:44Speaker 10: Like I'm really cool, calm and collected. That's kind of
- 54:47Speaker 10: how you know, my dad, you know, brought me up.
- 54:50Speaker 10: My mom brought me up. So I don't really try
- 54:51Speaker 10: to dive into you know, trying to overwhelm myself or
- 54:54Speaker 10: anything like that. I try to control what I can control,
- 54:56Speaker 10: and whatever my read is, I try to do my read.
- 54:59Speaker 10: And if something happens, I, you know, make a mistake,
- 55:01Speaker 10: I try to go back and learn from it. You know.
- 55:03Speaker 10: I try to really not dive into it and ride
- 55:05Speaker 10: the roller coaster. I just try to stay, you know,
- 55:08Speaker 10: a level.
- 55:10Speaker 17: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 55:15Speaker 17: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 55:19Speaker 17: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx Where
- 55:23Speaker 17: now mean's next for residential delivery only?
- 55:27Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 55:32Speaker 4: History saying Fred's back?
- 55:34Speaker 2: Does that mean we will get American emails read today?
- 55:39Speaker 2: So are you favorite the country emails?
- 55:43Speaker 1: I read?
- 55:43Speaker 6: I read the good ones that come in.
- 55:45Speaker 1: It's like that guy and the guy, the guy and
- 55:47Speaker 1: no American ones are good?
- 55:49Speaker 18: No, I read, no gyms aren't good. I read the
- 55:53Speaker 18: good ones that come in.
- 55:54Speaker 1: It's like the guy in Norwood, Fred that was originally
- 55:56Speaker 1: from the UK. Yeah, Eric doesn't like him, like, why
- 55:59Speaker 1: would you ever go from there? To hear?
- 56:01Speaker 18: Right, Fred, I can't wait till the next time you're
- 56:03Speaker 18: not here because I'm not hosting.
- 56:06Speaker 6: Tough, tough guy Paul can.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Go and that you guys can fight it.

- 56:15Speaker 18: vacation next week.
- 56:16Speaker 1: What tough Paul can sit over there? But I have
- 56:18Speaker 1: all the energy he wants. I never dug a hole before,
- 56:20Speaker 1: and it's just that hard to readils and take calls.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I'll do it the next time. A right, no problem.
- 56:26Speaker 1: That's the energy you're looking for.
- 56:27Speaker 3: That's another great moment from.
- 56:32Speaker 6: Believe it or not. It's officially December, and with the

- 56:53Speaker 6: by me on that read. I think, no, not great.
- 56:55Speaker 1: A couple of bubbles in the middle, pitchy dog. I'm
- 56:58Speaker 1: not gonna lie.
- 57:01Speaker 6: I'm still trying to. I know they probably did.
- 57:02Speaker 1: You hear the way Eric talked to me, And you
- 57:07Speaker 1: wonder why he has not reached out and talked to
- 57:09Speaker 1: me since he left.
- 57:10Speaker 6: I don't know where you're from, Paul, but those are
- 57:12Speaker 6: fighting words out in Holliston, the sticks of Holliston out there.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Tough guy. He used to get so mad when when
- 57:18Speaker 1: Fred started picking on him, and if I jumped in,
- 57:20Speaker 1: it was way worse. It's way worse coming from you.
- 57:25Speaker 6: Wouldn't it be kind of fun to bring Eric back,
- 57:26Speaker 6: just like for right now and like a random show,
- 57:28Speaker 6: just like so what do you even? What do you
- 57:29Speaker 6: think of the pictures?
- 57:30Speaker 1: But I think it would be great to find out
- 57:32Speaker 1: if he knows what their record is.
- 57:34Speaker 6: He probably has no idea you have any He completely
- 57:36Speaker 6: tuned out, completely tuned out. Yeah, probably. Uh, we got
- 57:41Speaker 6: a question here, No, I won't. We'll get back to him.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Uh.
- 57:45Speaker 6: I think Eldred heard us say his name earlier. He's
- 57:47Speaker 6: he's on the phone now, Hey Aldred, what's going on?
- 57:50Speaker 19: Hey? Hi, Okay, I got two questions. Okay, did y'all
- 57:57Speaker 19: believe anything? You just said that about a couple about
- 58:03Speaker 19: a couple of things, get right, that we could score,
- 58:05Speaker 19: we can win.
- 58:06Speaker 1: No, oh you're talking about Prescott. Yah. Yeah they were.
- 58:12Speaker 1: They were probably close a couple of times to being
- 58:14Speaker 1: able to get in position to score some points. Were
- 58:17Speaker 1: they close to scoring thirty? You know? And being a
- 58:20Speaker 1: representable offense? No representative, I don't think so. I don't
- 58:25Speaker 1: believe that.
- 58:26Speaker 19: And and and Paul, I'm gonna say you on Michael Pennick, Okay,
- 58:32Speaker 19: strong arm throws, agree and win in Washington.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Agreed to New England. Absolutely agree, grandpoint accuracy, short, long.
- 58:41Speaker 19: And deep and move.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Agree agree for the most part, I like Pani agree.
- 58:49Speaker 19: Yeah. But see, like I said, everybody want CAF, we
- 58:51Speaker 19: get Caleb. Fine, but if we win and we lose
- 58:55Speaker 19: those three quarterbacks, those three right there, you know that's gonna.
- 58:59Speaker 5: Be the mill.
- 59:01Speaker 1: And also think it's in No, I thought you were done.
- 59:05Speaker 1: I apologize, I had finished.
- 59:07Speaker 19: I'm done.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:08Speaker 1: I also think it was interesting that a lot of
- 59:10Speaker 1: people were talking about Shador Sanders and that he says
- 59:16Speaker 1: he says, he says he's staying, but a lot of
- 59:19Speaker 1: the I don't know if they're current GMS personnel guys,
- 59:25Speaker 1: but the word is that if he did come out,
- 59:28Speaker 1: he would unequivocally be the third quarterback behind Williams and May.
- 59:31Speaker 4: A lot of people decommitting from Colorado.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Too, So yeah, but I mean the word. The word
- 59:36Speaker 1: is he's absolutely staying for another year at Colorado. But
- 59:39Speaker 1: I just thought it was interesting that people I don't
- 59:41Speaker 1: look at him that way. I think he's I think
- 59:44Speaker 1: he's an intriguing prospect, but I'm not sure I would
- 59:47Speaker 1: put him in with with Williams and May as you
- 59:49Speaker 1: know the slot him in. I mean, I like Daniels
- 59:51Speaker 1: a lot better than than Sanders.
- 59:53Speaker 19: Yeah, yeah, another question. Sure, I'll intriguing about May because
- 59:57Speaker 19: I he May. I'm down here, I'll see the acc
- 1:00:01Speaker 19: and he's not to mean he's not dead impressive, he's not,
- 1:00:05Speaker 19: especially if flu Staate got hold of it. But you know,
- 1:00:09Speaker 19: he's just not. But I can't see the injury.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he is a good combination of h
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: thanks you know, mobility, Uh, not that he is like
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Michael Vick, but you know, good combination of mobility, size, uh,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: you know, pocket presence, arm strength. I think he has.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I mean, to me, there's no comparison between him and Williams.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: But I can understand why people really like Drake May.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I can see there's a lot there to like Dan.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I agree with Paul. I think he's intriguing.
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: I think he has like a bunch of different tools
- 1:00:41Speaker 9: in his tool belt that I think, you know, with time,
- 1:00:44Speaker 9: in the right coaching, they could make him great.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: But it's just tough right now.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I think I'll be real, mister Whiskey ruined all quarterbacks
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: for me.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: That's that's that's a fair statement.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I think that's what you think. C J.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: Shroud, he's a baller.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Yeah, the guys preceded him at Ohio State didn't ruin
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: all Ohio State quarterbacks, justin fields. I just want to
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: make sure you were consistent. So, I mean you don't like.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: Sam how either.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: He's okay, I mean he carved us up. But yeah,
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: I I he went in the fourth round.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: Right, Yeah he went late.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but he's but he's a lot smaller than yep,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Drake May.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: I remember spending like all the twenty twenty one spring,
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: like he said, on those quarterbacks. So I feel like
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: I didn't expect to be back here this soon. But
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: I feel like twenty twenty one was kind of like
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: a little bit of a prep for like quarterback research,
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: figuring out what you like. And I mean I just
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: when you're in the middle of the draft though, you're
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: kind of stuck in the middle of the first round,
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: You're stuck with kind of what falls to you. But
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: now it's like, if you're not aggressive, they've got a
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: real choice, right well, you know, of course, but you
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: know now they've got a real choice here, especially if
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: it's at second overall, and you know there's there's just
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: a lot to consider.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: I'll put I'd rather whiff on Williams and whiff on Bay.
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: I mean it's like it's you got a whiff on one.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: Of those guys, right yeah, I mean, whoever takes can't
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: whiff on somebody who're like what that guy like? If
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: you take Cal Williams and the stinks, I'd rather have
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: that happen than take Drake Manny's next Bremingham State.
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: Who is this guy drafting?
- 1:02:05Speaker 9: I think you have to be aggressive and go up
- 1:02:07Speaker 9: and get your guy if you feel like that he
- 1:02:09Speaker 9: is the one. And I think in this situation like,
- 1:02:11Speaker 9: it's great to have both of those quarterbacks who have
- 1:02:15Speaker 9: multiple tools in their tool bell.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: And they're not just one dimensional.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: May is much bigger than six four six one.
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: Go back to the phones. We got Manny down in
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: New Bedford him many.
- 1:02:26Speaker 12: Hey, what's going on?
- 1:02:27Speaker 20: Can you hear me?
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Hey, Yo, what's your take? Guy?
- 1:02:31Speaker 12: I know we talked about go check guys the chance
- 1:02:34Speaker 12: he's not gonna be there next year. But how we
- 1:02:36Speaker 12: feel about Troy Brown, I'm not really too solebo on him.
- 1:02:40Speaker 12: I think there's a lot of hiccups in that wide
- 1:02:41Speaker 12: receiver corps. I feel like these receivers are getting no separation.
- 1:02:45Speaker 12: I get it, and not like the best talent, but
- 1:02:47Speaker 12: there's a lot of hiccups in that core there. What
- 1:02:49Speaker 12: do we what do we feel about that?
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: I mean, Fred's brought it up a lot, you know.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: I mean it's it's how can you feel good about
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: any of the offensive coaches right now? I mean, nobody's
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: really excelled. And I mean you Troy's been here for
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: a few years and you just you haven't really been
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: able to develop a wide receiver. I mean, I although
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: I will say, I mean, you know, Jacoby Myers was
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: pretty good, and he's been pretty good and tomorrow Douglas
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: has been okay. I mean, I think if everyone was here,
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: he would he would, you know, push back a little
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: bit on just some of the miss you know, miscues
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: that that Douglas has had as a rookie. But I
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: think we're all sick of like not accepting those, like
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: you know, you just like, look, he's gonna make some mistakes.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: He's a rookie. I'd much rather see him play and
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: make mistakes than not play and make no mistakes.
- 1:03:28Speaker 9: You know, I can't tell whether it's bad coaching or
- 1:03:30Speaker 9: bad scouting, like we're Nikhil Harry and Taekwon Thornton just
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: bad picks or and they uncoachable or can they be coached?
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: But Tory Bown's not able to give him what data and.
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: One thing like even like Nelson aguilor like I've watched
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: him with the Ravens a little bit this year, looks
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: like it's like a.
- 1:03:45Speaker 21: Different guy like he did. I'm not to say that
- 1:03:47Speaker 21: he's good, but it gets part of it. I think
- 1:03:48Speaker 21: the development part is an element. Now they probably missed
- 1:03:53Speaker 21: on both of those guys that you mentioned with Harry
- 1:03:56Speaker 21: and and Thornton. But if they went somewhere else, might
- 1:03:59Speaker 21: they be more of goes both ways.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: I hate to say it, but I just like I
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: would love to see Taekwon Thornton just do something like
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: I don't know, he just seemed like he was finally
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: on the verge last week, and like I kind of
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: a given up hope on him, you know, but as
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: I said on the show yesterday, like it just I
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: think they could use him better. Like I just I
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: think he has something. And that's like I almost wonder
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: with like a Nelson Agilore, like if you had him
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: in the right system and he looked and he was
- 1:04:22Speaker 6: in the right spots, like could he contribute? Like he's
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: the only one right now with with Douglass out that
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: looks like he moves like an NFL receiver. Everybody else
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: is kind of plotting.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: And but do you think that there will be any
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: chance of him being like a real threat consistently, you know,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: six seven eight catches a game.
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: No, I think he's probably a feeling of like a
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: like a like last Johnson, like last week he catches
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: that ball, Yeah to me, that's his sealing. Yeah, yeah, No,
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: And I just like to see that. I guess this is.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Oh no, I would.
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: I would, But again to your point, I think third
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: or fourth receiver, like a guy with some speed and
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: some length, but you know somebody that it feels like
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: you definitely have to avoid putting him in you know,
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: double moves and you know things where he has to
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: run nuanced routes like he just doesn't.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Phil Perry talking about that yesterday and about how you know,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: he talked to numerous personnel guys after that draft all
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: told him that he was a fifth round pick at
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: best what we said, and you know, it just.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: Wasn't their guy, Like, it's not their kind of guy. Like,
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: and I mean this is that whole draft was that
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: was a head scratcher now in retrospective, but I don't know,
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: you always like they take those guys and you're like,
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: all right, I don't see it, but I'll let them
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: gut him out on the field and see it. And
- 1:05:34Speaker 6: I mean kind of the same with Strange. But then
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: then it gets confirmed.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: That that nicey pickens tomorrow. So yeah, he was an option.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: So even even Pierce has you know, made made more
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: plays to the players, you know, and and sky Moore
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: is is a totally different kind of player. He's more
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: of a like a versatile Mikole Hardman kind of guy.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: But they find ways to run some some run the
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: ball with him a little bit like they did with
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Taekwon last week. He's not going to be a huge
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: volume guy for the Chiefs, but he's you know, he's
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: he's been active for them, but it's like and he's
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: been a little disappointing for.
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: Yeah, but there's been a few guys like that. And
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: I mean last year they won the super Bowl kind
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: of with that same kind of like you have the
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: core of Kelsey and Mahomes and you know when they
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: got to have it moments, nine times out of ten
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: they're going to have.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: A touchdown in the super Bowl.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: But you know, but then you have the complimentary pieces
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: that you never quite know who's gonna do what. And
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: you know, I think in that kind of thing, when
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: you have you know, maybe to the Patriots point, my
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: guys get pretty.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Good for them that you you and Evan yelled at
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: me and stay over in the corner that she rice,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I know, I didn't see it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: I didn't see it.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: They went over there. You know, you don't grind. You
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: don't grind tape like me. Cody two.
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: I didn't grind it. But uh now you know we're
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: getting ready to get into all this again. I just
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: I can't not. I can't wait.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: No, that's what that's the best part about picking in
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: the top five, the top three hopefully, is you don't
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: have to do that.
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: No guy, this guy, Like that's why I like, I
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: don't want to like commit to a guy right now,
- 1:07:04Speaker 6: Like I feel like, you know, Eldred's like he's on
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: all right, you're a Penis guy from now from here too. Four.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know how why he thought that. I
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: was like anti I'm not picking panics at two.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: I'm anti panics.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: But I think he's fine. I just don't look at
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: him like Caleb Williams. I don't really think that's a
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: shot at Michael Pennix to think he has that kind.
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: Of I don't. That's what scares me.
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: Injuries, Yeah, well.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: You guys know a lot about injuries like the two
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: A CL part of it. Does that make him more
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: susceptible to tearing an A C L. I don't, I don't,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I don't. I asked that without I don't know.
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: I mean, I look and I don't know the answer
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: on that either, I would I mean, my question would be,
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: does he take unnecessary hits? Is he you know, is
- 1:07:45Speaker 6: he down? Does he not protect himself?
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Well?
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: Like that that would be more the question. I don't
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: think just in end of having an injury necessarily makes
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: it that he's going to get it again. But does
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: it signal some kind of you know, I don't I
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: don't even know what what what kind of pace they
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: were happened on, you know, I feel like.
- 1:08:00Speaker 9: You would have to get him in an offense that
- 1:08:01Speaker 9: one has a good offensive line, so he didn't feel
- 1:08:03Speaker 9: like he has to run for his life every single time.
- 1:08:05Speaker 9: But then two, I feel like he could. He couldn't
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: be in a system where like he was designed to
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: run a bunch like Justin Fields. I feel like you
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: would probably have to protect him a little bit more
- 1:08:14Speaker 9: kind of like what the Bills are trying to do
- 1:08:16Speaker 9: with Josh Allen, where they're like, I don't want you
- 1:08:18Speaker 9: running for your life every single play.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Mike McCarthy, how they have an an emergency appened
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: dect to me today?
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: Oh showing up Sunday though, Yeah.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: He plans on coaching Sunday.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: I wonder if his doctors would agree with that.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: That's some prayers. Let's go down to Australia. Nick, what's
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: going on?
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: Nick?
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Hi?
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Guys?
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: Good?
- 1:08:40Speaker 16: I just got a question for Paul and bought all right, Parpacetically,
- 1:08:45Speaker 16: if they draft say Williams or May and then get
- 1:08:47Speaker 16: a receiver, is it gonna look any different with Billy
- 1:08:50Speaker 16: O'Brien running the offense? Or do you guys think they
- 1:08:53Speaker 16: need to get someone else even with a new scheme
- 1:08:55Speaker 16: like Ben Johnson or someone else's seems like, uh, Billo
- 1:08:59Speaker 16: o'bron's things may be passed and the only player that
- 1:09:02Speaker 16: could run it with Tom Brady.
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: Yeah, well that's a good question.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Would like to see the scheme change. I don't mind
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: if Bill O'Brien changes scheme and he stays, but I
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: don't want to run the Ronnie a Hard offense anymore.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I'm kind of done with that. I've been running for
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: twenty plus years now. They won six Super Bowls with
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: that offense, not diminishing it. I just think that it's
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: kind of past its expoll.
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: It's just like, what about the offenses doesn't work?
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: That's I guess what.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I think, relying on the pinpoint decision making of the
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: quarterback and receiver on every play is too much. Something
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: that is kind of proven to be unique to Tom Brady. Yeah,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: like you can have a lot of success when the
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: guy is flawless running the operation, and when he.
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: Is, you tend to put it more on the receivers
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: that the receivers can't pick the offense up.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: So and then I looked at it this way. I'm
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: starting to think about this a little bit. You remember
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: how we used to have fun, you know, tis you
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: you were probably a little young, you know when some
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: of these guys. But when it was like Donald Hayes
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: coming in and uh, you know, Joey Galloway and Tory
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Holt and Reggie Wayne, and it was like Chad Ocho Cinco,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: he's dummies. They can't get now. No one can get
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: it now.
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: No one got in the quarterbacks.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about the receivers, like no one really
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: is making the right show with you know, Evan is
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: coming in every Tuesday and we're talking about to Mario
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Douglas looked like he kind of was in the wrong
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: spot or Taekwon Thornton is stumbling coming out of his
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: route because he looks a little unsure of himself or
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: you know, and maybe it's because these guys aren't any
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: good and those guys were of I mean, when we're
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: talking about Joey Galloway and Tory Holt and Reggie Wayne,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: there's three guys with Hall of Fame talent. Now they're
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: not all in the Hall of Fame, but the Hall
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: of Fame talents. They knew how to play. Ocho Cinko
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: knew how to play. Maybe this is just a little
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: too hard on everybody, you know, And it wasn't for everybody.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: It was more for a unique skill set of guys,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: you know. And I just that, like when you asked me,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: what about the offense, do you not want to I
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: don't want to rely on you know, everybody being on
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: the same page pre and post snap.
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: And I mean I think we talked about this a
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: little bit a couple of weeks ago, but I mean
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: I tie it again to like last year, and like
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: the notion of we're going to simplify the offense now,
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: I think that got lost in the fact that it
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: was Matt Patricia and Joe Judge doing the job of
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: simplifying the offense, but I think all of us were
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: That's one.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Thing I did. It's one thing I won't criticize Belichick for.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: I think he recognized the fact that he needed to
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: change the offense a little bit. I only criticized how
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: we tried to do it.
- 1:11:39Speaker 6: And so how did that How did that manifest itself
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: now with Bill O'Brien. Did they just say, well, we're
- 1:11:43Speaker 6: getting complicated again because it's Bill O'Brien and that's just
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: kind of what he does. Or did they say, look,
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: you know, it didn't work great last year, but we
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: want to keep it simple.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: It was my contention that they had to change the
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: offense when O'Brien, I mean, Judge and Patricia were here
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: because they didn't know the offense right to implement it.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Whereas O'Brien's back, he can do the same offense because
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: he already ran it.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: Which makes me wonder if you know, if Bill was
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: to stick around, and you know, in one of these
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: different universes, like in the multiverse of Patriots twenty twenty
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: four multiverse, you know there is one multiverse where Bill
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: is here for sure, you know, would he try to
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: simplify again or you know, also.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Didn't change the offense all that much, by the way,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: I mean just according to the offensive.
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: Lineman, right like, but I don't know, there's just so
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: much the offenses and I mean we you know, would
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: be great to get an offensive coordinator in here and
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: somebody who could actually tell you, like you know, how
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: they were trying to simplify it was it.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Just find a new system and have someone come in
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: that knows the system, and then everybody's on the same level.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: You implement it from the ground floor.
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: Well, it always sounds great when you have like the
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: air Coriel offense, I think is one where it's just
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: like it's a six, five, two, so like you know,
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: you just got the first guy runs a six route,
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: this guy runs a five, and this guy runs a two.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: You know, like it's just like it makes instant sense
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: to you. And then when you hear some of like
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: the Patriots stuff and how fluid it is, and you know,
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: if it's this, you got to go there, and if
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: it's that, you gotta go here.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about it. And I know there's
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: an element of option routes to all these systems, you know,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: it's not always automatic, but I do feel like there's
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: more on the quarterback, especially, but the quarterback and the
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: receiver to make those decisions on the fly. I think
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: that that makes it a little bit more challenging.
- 1:13:20Speaker 9: I feel like these what they have right now, they're
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: not capable of doing those things on the fly, Like
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: I feel like just I mean, you saw it in
- 1:13:28Speaker 9: ZAPPI too, like where there were so many opportunities where
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: you could have gotten.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: Into a delay of game but just missed it.
- 1:13:34Speaker 9: I mean, I feel like that's why the wide receivers
- 1:13:36Speaker 9: have been so confused and in the wrong spot or
- 1:13:38Speaker 9: in the same spot as somebody else.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: It's just it's not dumb it down a little bit.
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: How many times do you feel like this offense has
- 1:13:43Speaker 6: just been like snap catch throw completion, like you know
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: what I mean, like just happening that quick like it.
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: It just feels like those plays are gone and it's
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: always like going through a progression and the chaos happening,
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: and then the last second they kind of get it off.
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: Oh boy, drop the screen. Well, we got lots of
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: emails coming in here.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: And slant runoff tackle, lots.
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: Lots of emails hitting them in the hands any emails here?
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: Why don't you read?
- 1:14:10Speaker 10: Okay?
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: I thank you, Paul, I was trying to cue you there.
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: Uh Kyle from Pembroke, Good afternoon. I think Benjing Royland
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: would be a mistake. It's obviously struggling and having an
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: experienced kicker on the practice squad to talk to could
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: be valuable. But just like basketball, he needs to see
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: one go in to start building back up his confidence,
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: especially as a rookie.
- 1:14:27Speaker 9: I like that comparison because I feel like, you know,
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: a three point shooter, if you're just having like an
- 1:14:32Speaker 9: off couple of games, I feel like it could be
- 1:14:34Speaker 9: tough if you get yanked and then you just don't
- 1:14:36Speaker 9: see the court again for six games, because I feel
- 1:14:39Speaker 9: like you lose your flow, you get cold.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: And once again, what's the worst that happens? If he
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: keeps me it like we're gonna lose. Like it's different
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: if this was happening.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: If they were ten to too, I would totally understand, like,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: this is going to cost us a game here, you
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: know we have to We can't. We can't afford it.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: They can't afford to play through a young guy's struggle.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: Just I mean, you spent the pick on him, so
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: let's see what we can do with it.
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: Alex and Raleigh, North Carolina. I want to write in
- 1:15:04Speaker 6: and say that the old dog Belichick needs some new tricks.
- 1:15:06Speaker 6: I don't want to see him bringing back Josh. I
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: don't want to see him trade out of the top three,
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: which is where we will end up this season. I
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: don't want to see him bringing back old qbs who
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: he tried to work before. I saw a tweet which
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: I know doesn't mean much that the Athletics says if
- 1:15:20Speaker 6: Belichick is still around, he could end up bringing back
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: Jimmy g Is our quarterback upon being released from the Raiders.
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: A lot of what ifs here, but if this happens,
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: Bill needs to go immediately.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Okay, I don't think there's any chance. I did see
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: that report like last week. I don't think there's any no.
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: And that was like a like a throwaway line in
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: a Jeff how thing that he was just kind of positing,
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: like bait things that could happen.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Something I'll be intriguing for a VET is maybe kirk
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: Off the Achilles. Oh yeah, that's something that like, you know,
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: maybe you take Maserati, Marv and then you get the
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: old guy Maserati Marv No, I don't know, just Kirk
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: he's I've never been that much of a fan of him,
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: but that he might be able.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: To be neither, but he would obviously be the best
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: available of the veterans.
- 1:16:00Speaker 6: Oh, he's getting a little love here on the email.
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: It's just from Christian with the tia N says more
- 1:16:05Speaker 6: matist less pinpull bazaar. Ah, right, thank you Christian.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: You should send Devin a little text on it.
- 1:16:14Speaker 6: Of course, looking forward it too.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: I will thank you.
- 1:16:17Speaker 6: We got a little conspiracy theory here from Moyses.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Oh, I love it.
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: Uh. Is there any validity to my theory that Belichick
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: wanted to tank on the twenty twenty season the fan
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: base would have a bad season because the COVID season
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: was weird. The Pats went through free agency in a
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: draft without adding talent to an offensive roster that I
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: think is worse than the current roster at their best.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: Did they think Jared Stidham could be the starter in
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: the league or did they not? Did they know no
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: one would want to sign Cam Newton? Was Cam signed?
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: To make it seem like they were at least trying
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: to win but can't play better with that team than
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: they thought he would. And let's not forget the offense
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: consisted of de mere Bird, Nikhil Harry, thirty four year
- 1:16:52Speaker 6: old Julian Edelman, Devin Asiassi, Dalton Keene and Ryan Freakin.
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: Is oh, sorry, Claire, Yeah, they wanted him.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I think people wanted them to tank and he wouldn't.
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: I think I also say that team win that many
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: games though, Now that's a dog like this team seems
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: like an all star team.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: They were like at least it was like I mean,
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: if I say it was miserable last year, but looking back,
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: it was kind of fun. But all I say is,
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: what was that the Trevor Lawrence here, Mac John, Trevor Lawrence. Yeah,
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: if you got the first round pick, gunned your head.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: I don't know if Bill takes Trevor Lawrence, I'm sorry.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: If they got the number one overall, yeah, I don't
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: know he would have taken Oh, I just don't know.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: If it was the number one overall pick, you would
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: have you gotta Yeah. Now, I'm not telling you he
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: would have taken any of the other three, the other
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: four if he was higher than fifteen. I don't know what,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: like when or if he would have taken any of
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: those four. But if you got number one, he would
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: have taken Trevor.
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: Lawrence, he would hope. So, Yeah, but would it be
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: the same situation, That's all we're saying.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: Yeah, back to the phones, Jody down Atlanta, Hey, Jody, Hey,
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: what's up guys much?
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: How are you not doing good?
- 1:17:53Speaker 20: I have a little scenario we hadn't talked about very
- 1:17:55Speaker 20: much on here, but is there a scenario where I'm
- 1:18:00Speaker 20: I'm not saying I want this to happen, but I
- 1:18:01Speaker 20: could just see it happening. That they make Bill O'Brien
- 1:18:05Speaker 20: the head coach because he has familiarity with the system
- 1:18:09Speaker 20: that's you know, how the Patriot Way is, and Crafts
- 1:18:13Speaker 20: are comfortable with him. Then they promote Drawing Mayo to
- 1:18:16Speaker 20: decordinator and we kind of see almost like a run
- 1:18:21Speaker 20: back with the same staff instead of instead of going
- 1:18:25Speaker 20: outside and getting people from outside the organization.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think that the possibility for that
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: would be the opposite of that Mayo is the head
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: coach and they keep O'Brien as the offensive coordinator. But
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think that's going to happen, but I do.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: I think it's on the table.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: I feel like it's on the table.
- 1:18:44Speaker 9: I just wouldn't want the Patriot Way and the same
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: staff to still be here. I think some people need
- 1:18:49Speaker 9: to be switched up, like, for example, Troy Brown.
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: I think that changes needed.
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: I don't know if it's in the scouting department or
- 1:18:57Speaker 9: you know, different positions on staff, but I think that
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: you could end up with the same type of bad roster,
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: bad team if you just keep everything the same.
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: And a remove Bill.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Thanks Jody, appreciate it's in play, Jody, I mean I do.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: I think there's a chance that Bill Belichick is among
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: the only ones to go. You know, there'll be others
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: to go, but I could see them keeping a structure.
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: But I like, I like your thing where you just
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: like have to point out and I'll read an email
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: here in a second. You know, like you're just going
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: to take out the best part, the best part and
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: expect it to be different.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Like to me, the best part of everything that they
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: have right now is Belichick's football mind. You know, because
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I believe me, I take as many shots as everybody else.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: I don't ever say that Bill doesn't know what he's
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: talking about when it comes to Xi's nose and football,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I don't. I've never said that and I never will.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: So you're taken that part out of the equation by
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: leaving everybody else here.
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I would not do that.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: Trent from Sylvan Lake feels kind of similar, he says,
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: although says the Bill hate is unreal. Why would you
- 1:19:59Speaker 6: ever fire a d offensive minded head coach and then
- 1:20:01Speaker 6: replace him with his own DC It makes zero sense.
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: Nobody even knows what Mayo does for this team, but
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: don't let that stop all the spoiled fans from wanting him.
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: Either keep Bill in the defense that he has built
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: and successfully run, which would be my vote, or do
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: an entire teardown and start from scratch.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: In fairness, I think that's what most people want. It's
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: the entire teardown from scratch.
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: This is to you, Paul, and this is continuing along.
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: Paul.
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: Do you really think with one of these rookie qbs
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: next season this team could go too and ten again?
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: Come on, Bud, that's crazy. Bill has never gone to
- 1:20:32Speaker 6: and ten before, and with a real QB the team
- 1:20:35Speaker 6: would be a playoff contender this season. So why blame
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: it all on Bill.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: What are we talking about next year's record. I'd never
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: never say anything about next year's record. I don't know
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: he called you, Bud though, No, But I mean, did
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I say that if they take Caleb Williams they're going
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: to go to and ten again next year? I don't know.
- 1:20:52Speaker 6: Now do you think if we take.
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: Him we'll go to in ten?
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Can I see what else do they do? If you
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: put Caleb Williams on this team, this current roster, you
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: have a good chance of going to and ten. I
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: agree because I don't think this is all Mac Jones's fault.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: I've never said that. Yeah, I think I'm with you.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I think it's a lot of Mac Jones, But I
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: don't think it's all Mac Jones's fault.
- 1:21:13Speaker 6: Back to the phones, Jafar is out in Minnesota, hate you.
- 1:21:15Speaker 22: Far, Hey, this is the first time calling in. They're
- 1:21:20Speaker 22: listening for about seven years, and I heard on the
- 1:21:23Speaker 22: podcast not that long ago you guys were talking about
- 1:21:26Speaker 22: putting everything on Mac Jones, and you know, maybe they're
- 1:21:29Speaker 22: doing too much, but I feel that most quarterbacks have
- 1:21:34Speaker 22: won in the past who knows ten years, they know
- 1:21:36Speaker 22: how to do everything in terms of bringing the defense
- 1:21:39Speaker 22: and making the right checks, and I feel like everything
- 1:21:41Speaker 22: is on them. But I don't know if Bill Belichick
- 1:21:44Speaker 22: has been doing too much too early with these quarterbacks.
- 1:21:47Speaker 22: I feel that in order for you to win the
- 1:21:49Speaker 22: Super Bowl, you need to have everything on you. You know,
- 1:21:52Speaker 22: you need to have multiple plays that you can check
- 1:21:54Speaker 22: too correctly. But I just don't know if we do
- 1:21:57Speaker 22: that too soon or if there's too much too early.
- 1:22:00Speaker 22: But I feel like it's a give and take on
- 1:22:01Speaker 22: that I could take that like off the air.
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you, far.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: I think a lot of that's in play, Mike. What
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: do you think? I mean, Like I already talked about
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: how I think it's a little complicated the system.
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: Yeah, no, it is. I just I mean I wish
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: I knew more, I think, is what you know. I
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: wish I could really pull out the threads and really
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: know how complicated it is. I mean, I you know,
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: I hear everything you say, and I mean, I think
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: it was something I always liked about the you know,
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: the Patriots offense and you know, in theory, was like,
- 1:22:31Speaker 6: I think it's ideal to imagine that your offense can
- 1:22:35Speaker 6: adjust after the snap to what the defense does and
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: you know, I think in a perfect world, once you're
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: able to execute that, it's hard to go back and
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: just say, let's just do what we do. I mean,
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: and certainly they're getting the feedback now based on the
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: performances that guys can't really do it, and so at
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: some point you have to just say, look, we don't
- 1:22:53Speaker 6: have the team that can can execute this anymore. As
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: much as it feels like it would be ideal to
- 1:22:58Speaker 6: be able to challenge defenses that way, so that no
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: matter what they're spinning on us post snap, we have
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: you know, a bunch of players that can all adjust,
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: but it just seems too far away. Everything seems disjointed.
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: They're not able to stack drives. I mean, you know,
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: they have a historic level of points right now in
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: a bad way. So, but is the answer just to
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: completely scrap the system and go back to you know
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: and completely go to something different that you know, with
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: new coaches, I mean, maybe you know, that might be
- 1:23:25Speaker 6: what it has to be.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's going to depend on how the crafts
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: want to proceed, you know, if if they in fact
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: move on from Belichick, what they want, what they're comfortable with.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: But yeah, if you're asking me what I would rather have.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: It would be a complete tear down and start over.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: And I would understand and recognize that that's probably going
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: to mean back to the guy who think I think
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: he thinks he's making fun of me, but I agree
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: with it, Like you're probably going to struggle.
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: Again next year, yeah, you know, and if.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: The if the rookie quarterback is really good, that maybe
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: you you win six games, you know, instead of two
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: that they have now. But I don't have any illusions
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: that you're just gonna like make a whole new system
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: and snap your fingers and be a contender. Takes time.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: The best scenario for rookie quarterback would be the Texans
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: right now, just like new coach, new new quarterback.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: And there's you know, I think that the and I
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: know the AFC South is like record wise, they're doing
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: much better, but I don't think it's a great division.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: I think Tennessee is terrible, sorry, Mike. I think that
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: the Colts are much like the Texans, benefiting from you know,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: like the best team in that division is not unbeatable,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like, so you can go
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: into a game with Jacksonville and you can expect to
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: win it. You know, you might not win. I think
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: Jacksonville is the best team in that division. You've got,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: you know, games that could go either way against the
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: in the other four games. And I also think the
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: Patriots could benefit from that a little bit next year
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: because you're going to get the fourth place team in
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: a couple of divisions plus the NF one. Right, like
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: those games that need to be decided, Like you'll put,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: what are the divisions they play next year, Mike? If
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: they played the North, they play the AFC.
- 1:25:10Speaker 6: North, And it's my tom My head, I gotta look.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: NFC West in the NFC West.
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: But I mean, what are the so so twenty twenty
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: four they play, Yeah, they play the AFC South.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Okay, so they play the South next year. So they'll
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: get the fourth place team in the AFC North and
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: the fourth place team in the AFC West, plus the
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: fourth place team in the NFC division that they don't play,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: you know, whatever the rotation is. So that's three games
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: against fellow last place teams that can help you, you know,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: that can that can help you sort of, you know,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: like I said, go from two to three wins to
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: five or six.
- 1:25:45Speaker 6: So Chad's got a game. I kind of like this one.
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: Would you rather get the rookie QB of your choosing,
- 1:25:50Speaker 6: but you have to stick with BB or get the
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: wide receiver of your choosing and they have an MVP season,
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: But you have to figure out the HC and the
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: QB situation in free agency RLS, we're not the draft
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: I have.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: He turns out to be a great receiver. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I'll take that. Yeah, I'll take the known commodity of
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: a great player.
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: I'll take And like, what if you get the quarterback
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: and it's just the same thing, right, You're not getting
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: him the help he needs. And now we're talking about
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: this in twenty twenty eight.
- 1:26:19Speaker 9: Yeah, and I would be scared that he would be
- 1:26:22Speaker 9: mishandled again and not given the proper resources to be great,
- 1:26:26Speaker 9: like you know, offensive line help and talent around him,
- 1:26:30Speaker 9: like weapons and everything. So I would definitely have to
- 1:26:32Speaker 9: go with the wide receiver. I feel like that's the
- 1:26:34Speaker 9: safer bit.
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: We got another game here, games.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: Good job, good job, peeps.
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: Gosh, she said, man, he said. I came up with
- 1:26:43Speaker 6: a quick guess who game that will hopefully lift up
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: everyone's spirits, especially Mike do I seem down to that?
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Yes, you always seem to depressed. You are a wicked
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: handsome I said that all.
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: The time, Paul, You're making me blush. All right, Patriot
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: number one. This is a there's gonna be some hints
- 1:26:58Speaker 6: Matisse here on the spot here. I don't know, I
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: you're gonna be able to get anyse I played at
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: tight end for the Patriots for nine years, wearing eighty seven.
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: A trick question.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: No, did you just say, oh you can? You're only
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: allowed one guess? So if you're wrong, you're wrong.
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: All right? You want hint too, hint too.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: It.
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: I ended my career with only playing for one other
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: team outside of the Patriot organization.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: So I'm going to say Ben Coates.
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: I was leaving ben Kotze, although Gronk will be with
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, not question sure that he did nine,
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: but but one team and good, good popo.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: So that's what he was probably looking for. Obviously, say Gronk.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: I thought the obvious was Coats.
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: I didn't even think it was one of the two.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: That was typical Paul with the CTE, I forget the guy,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: go right out of the nineties and I go right
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: back to my era.
- 1:27:47Speaker 6: Hint number one. I wore number twenty four for the
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: Patriots during my tenure. All right, so you can process
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: some of those names.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: See now I'm ignoring Stefan Gilmour law, but go ahead.
- 1:27:56Speaker 6: After leaving the Patriots, I went on to play corner
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: for three more teams in the NFL.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: The Great Ty i't.
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: Out of my whole time spent in New England. There
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: were only two years I made the play Pro Bowl
- 1:28:09Speaker 6: and first team All Pro, and only one season where
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: I was a league leader in I n T S.
- 1:28:15Speaker 6: I think I believe in you. I believe in you.
- 1:28:17Speaker 6: I know this number twenty four. He's a corner back
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: not too long ago. You can do it to me
- 1:28:24Speaker 6: twenty four step gil.
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: Trick right here.
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: It wasn't the reverse trip, I really I wanted to.
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: I wanted that for you. I wanted that for you
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: for three teams.
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: We gave him away for a bag of chips.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: There's some ships. Yeah, the bag of trip.
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: I'm the best corner on this team. Uh, he's so humble.
- 1:28:50Speaker 6: Hitt one. I signed with the Patriots after playing with
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: the Dolphins. Oh this is well, this is kind of
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: a tricky one. I was a linebacker who only spent
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: four seasons with the Pats, and I accumulated twenty two
- 1:29:05Speaker 6: point five sacks during my time with the Patriots. I'm
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: going to give this one to you guys, because I
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: don't it's it's confusing.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Can you give me.
- 1:29:13Speaker 6: He isn't most known for the Dolphins. He played for
- 1:29:16Speaker 6: the Dolphins after here. I don't. I don't think this
- 1:29:20Speaker 6: is the hit. Number one might be. No, he played
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: with another team in the NFC first. He had twenty
- 1:29:25Speaker 6: two and a half sacks four season, Convin Noy. Yeah,
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: so I think it was a little bit of mistake
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: there in the email.
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: Playing with the Ravens.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he signed with the Ravens. And I saw Logan
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Ryan signed with San Francisco yesterday.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: As Harmon going to sign somewhere next like Harmon was still.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: In the league.
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I think he's maybe Chicago.
- 1:29:48Speaker 9: Was.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: When you go to and ten, you sort of lose
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: sight of the personnel around the league.
- 1:29:54Speaker 6: Well, I mean to be fair, like, I feel like
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: they could have kind of used the Ron Harmon this
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: year as like a free safety type.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: But I maybe he tells me the defense isn't that
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: his green bananas but defens is like lights out.
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: Now, well there were you know, uh, I know, I know,
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: Paul how much you loved the EPA stats and uh
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: they're thirty first. Got this today from an EPA against
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: what is it Steaks?
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: There's a little Steaks gift package holiday gift pack.
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: You feel good about Christmas this year? You're doing a
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: good job. You're gonna stock up on some presents there.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: For Well, I did get a couple of things that
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: she didn't tell me about, so I do feel good.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I always feel good when this when there's something that
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: she didn't have to necessarily drop a bunch of hints about.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: But yeah, I have some work to do based on
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: my birthday missteps.
- 1:30:38Speaker 9: Because I hate buying Christmas gifts Like no one else
- 1:30:42Speaker 9: has to buy gifts for someone else on their birthday.
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: Well, you can buy them before your birthday.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: No, it's annoying. I hate it.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: I enjoy it when I I mean it's rare. But
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: when I have that one thing that I know that
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: someone's going to really like and not expect. It doesn't
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: happen all the time. But when I come up with
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: something that I know is going to be a hit,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I really enjoy buying.
- 1:31:05Speaker 6: Too, And I thought last year that president for me
- 1:31:07Speaker 6: was was tickets to the Stevie Nicks Billy Joel concert,
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: which we decided not to go to because it was raining.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: I didn't pan out for you didn't.
- 1:31:14Speaker 6: Pan out Elfrim Wisconsin. It worries me a bit how
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: much I agree with dark Deuce. But I really think
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: nothing on this team is good enough. I know he's
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: not here, but Evan is crazy for wanting to make
- 1:31:26Speaker 6: Mayo the DC and hire an offensive coach. You're gonna
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: hire someone in and not let them pick their own DC.
- 1:31:31Speaker 6: A new coach will be absolutely will be looking over
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: his shoulder all the time talking about meddling ownership.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I haven't really gotten into it this week because
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: it's not the time, because the defense has been perfectly fine.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: Like I think you know when you love ten, ten
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: and six, it's just not the time. I agree with
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: the sentiment of that email. I don't think you need
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: to keep girod Mayo in order to keep the defense
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: playing at the level it's playing. Like, I think their
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: defense is fine. I don't like is he the only
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: that you know? It's just because of the Belichicks in
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Drodmeo that they're playing well, yeah, like I think that
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: somebody else could do that.
- 1:32:09Speaker 6: I mean, and that was the point. You don't think
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: plays there well, there aren't game changing defenses really. I mean,
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: you know, maybe a couple, but it's just I don't
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: think that the bar is so high that you know,
- 1:32:17Speaker 6: and I mean maybe if you were coming off one
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: of those seasons like oh three or something where it's
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: just like my god, this team is clicking on all
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: cylinders on defense. But I mean, I honestly think, like
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: I was just about to say, like, I think the
- 1:32:27Speaker 6: thirty first in EP against the pass. I mean, it's
- 1:32:30Speaker 6: not like is it that low, It's really low. It
- 1:32:32Speaker 6: just came out today and you know they send us
- 1:32:34Speaker 6: the little things.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: They believe I hit my tongue for two days, so.
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: You know, it's it's it's not perfect.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: And I mean, I just think it's easy to look
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: at the point sometimes and just say that, you know,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: this is what it is. It's like I said, I
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: think during the break, I said, like, I I feel
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: like some of these teams scored the amount of points
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: that they needed to score to win, and they just
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: said we can't like for Brandon Staley not to go
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: for any of those fourth downs, and he got a
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: lot of fourth and shorts.
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: He's notorious for that, right, and.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: I know he's done it less this year.
- 1:33:01Speaker 6: I don't even care because he's.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Done it less this year. But they had a lot
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: of fourth and shorts in that game, like less than
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: three yards. He didn't go for a single one. But
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: what's think it's because he's.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: The only win if we win that game. He's on LinkedIn.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: He wasn't gonna make it like it's.
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: Not currently looking for work.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: You're absolutely right. I think if they lost, he was
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: out gone.
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: He's still probably God, You're welcome.
- 1:33:24Speaker 6: You know. Just one thing I want to bring up, though,
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: is I you know, like Brandon, like Robert Craft and
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: Jonathan Craft are going to make this decision, and you know.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: It's not going to be Fred Kurt and it's not
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: gonna be Fred kurtr Perillo.
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: But there's something to be said, like what do they want?
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: I mean, does Robert, at this stage in his career
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: and owning this team, want to bring in a bunch
- 1:33:43Speaker 6: of new guys who are going to run his team
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: the whole thing?
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Or does he want to concern. Let's you know, we
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: can because he you know, he's he's in his eighties
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: and and he wants to win.
- 1:33:53Speaker 6: You know, when you have to think like like, I mean,
- 1:33:55Speaker 6: I guess the philosophy is and we've we've had this talk,
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: Paul is you know, well, it's going to be the
- 1:34:00Speaker 6: Patriots kind of system, but it's gonna be without the
- 1:34:03Speaker 6: mean old guy, you know, like without build like like
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: like that's just what they want to extract. Is they
- 1:34:08Speaker 6: want to, you know, give it kind of a younger
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: feel that might appeal towards the younger players and get
- 1:34:12Speaker 6: those guys back on board. And you know, maybe've heard
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: guys in locker room talk about how much they love
- 1:34:16Speaker 6: Gerard and lev listening to him speaking. I mean, and
- 1:34:19Speaker 6: it seems like I love he would be able to
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: motivate guys to play. But I just I think there's
- 1:34:24Speaker 6: something about me that I just I struggle imagining Robert
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: Kraft at this stage saying I'm ready to start all
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: over again with a whole new bunch of guys and
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: try to figure it out with those guys. I just
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: I think that there's gonna want he's gonna want to
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: have an element of continuity and a familiarity that he
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: doesn't lose, and you know, I don't know if that's
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: the best thing for the team. There's also a big
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: part of me that feels like this next regime is
- 1:34:50Speaker 6: probably gonna be a placeholder for when they actually get good.
- 1:34:53Speaker 6: This is gonna be kind of a couple of years
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: of treading water and maybe a young head coach making
- 1:34:58Speaker 6: some mistakes and you know, hopefully starting to find the
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: talent that you get out of this draft and maybe
- 1:35:03Speaker 6: next year's draft and developing those guys and then you know,
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: all this promise is kind of happening, and then you
- 1:35:07Speaker 6: bring in the real head coach. That's when you know,
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: that's when it really takes off.
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: And I'm and I'm sure they're looking at it, and
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: they might not be wrong to do it, like girod Mayo,
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Like they're probably looking at Tamiko Ryans, you know, defensive
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: guy for more player stepped in immediately and has at
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: least put the Texans on the road to contention. Like
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: you know, I would say the illusion of contention. But
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: they're in it. It's seven and five, They're in it.
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: You know they're going to play meaningful games in December
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: for the first time since when Billy Oh yeah yeah.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: So they might look at it and say, well, they
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: hired a defensive guy, a former player, never had never
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: done it before, and it's worked, so why can't it
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: work with Jerrod Mayo.
- 1:35:47Speaker 9: I would have loved to see, Well, it's like you
- 1:35:49Speaker 9: can't cry or spilt book now. But like if they
- 1:35:51Speaker 9: decided to get rid of Bill a few games ago,
- 1:35:54Speaker 9: I don't know, the Saints game thirty four nothing, and
- 1:35:57Speaker 9: then go with Jerrod Mayo, there's the season to see
- 1:35:59Speaker 9: what he does as an interim coach. It's too late
- 1:36:01Speaker 9: to do it now because you don't want to ruin
- 1:36:03Speaker 9: the draft pick. But it would have been nice to see, like, Okay,
- 1:36:06Speaker 9: let's give him a shot to be the interim head
- 1:36:08Speaker 9: coach and see what he does.
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: Do you think that's fair? Like, I mean, I don't.
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: I don't have an opinion on it, but it just
- 1:36:12Speaker 6: for for you know, if you were JAIROB. Mayo, do
- 1:36:14Speaker 6: you feel like that's fair to get a chance with
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: a team that you really didn't I mean, I know,
- 1:36:17Speaker 6: I'm sure he has had an input into it, but
- 1:36:19Speaker 6: like kind of like we talked about when ZAPPI gets
- 1:36:21Speaker 6: thrust in kind of crazy situation and good luck here audition.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: For an interim guy. It doesn't work and he doesn't
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: turn anything around, and he's dismissed. And even when it works,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: they almost never hired.
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: I was going to say, how come they never? I
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: mean Rick, the you know, the Raiders guy.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: I mean there's rich besides very very hurt Christian, and
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Christian knows do you think and he knows what I'm feeling.
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: Do you think if they got blown out that Raiders
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: game it was over for for Bill? I don't know,
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: like they got blown out like another thirty days against Dallas.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: They got blown out against Noorleans, but it wasn't a
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: blowout against the Raiders. The quarterback, Yeah.
- 1:37:08Speaker 6: I don't know. I mean maybe I still can't wrap
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: my head around that. Josh was there for how many
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: games in preseason, regular season and he still beat the
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: Patriots three times in the time that he was with
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: the Raiders.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: You could make an argument that he was like on
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: a short list of the most disastrous head coaches in
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: NFL history. He didn't make it through his second year
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: twice and found a way to go three and oh
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: against the page.
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: And technically four and oh because he beat him with
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: the Broncos too, right, I mean it's a head coaches.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: The Patriots couldn't figure out a way, isn't that three?
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: Well the preseason game, I mean I was you know,
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: I know, I know, I know, but you know, you
- 1:37:40Speaker 6: know how you do these things and you move things
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: to make it look a certain way.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: Yes, I do Felger three times, Yes, Felger, I do
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: know four four times to beat you four.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: Times, and not even Fred's like anger towards him could
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: prevent him from from doing the same thing. Here.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: I'm telling you, guys, he should have seen Fred that day.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: He was apoplectic. He was so mad at Josh. Was
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: sitting on the bus and right out the window, like
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Josh is like hugging everybody and like big laughs, smiles
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: laughter in Denver and okay, when they beat us in nine,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Fred was so mad. Look at this guy, we look
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: at him. We just lost the game. You should have
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: some respect. And I'm like Fred, he's excited as a
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: young guy. He's coming over and he's like, I can't
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: believe that.
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: I've never seen Fred so mad in my life.
- 1:38:29Speaker 6: Tyler and Providen's got a draft question. I don't know
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: if I don't know this one, Paul. If there is
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: there any rule that will prevent a college player like
- 1:38:36Speaker 6: Caleb Williams from declaring, from not declaring for the draft,
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: but making his plan to play known, and then after
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: the draft, oh, signing a contract with the highest bidder.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: No, you can't do that. No, because if you're not
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: eligible for the draft, you're not eligible.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: To be signed. Because they didn't Michael Crabtree with the
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: contract a few years ago, he would have had to
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: go back into the draft.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: Yeah, he can do that, you can do he doesn't
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: have to come out. But if you're not eligible for
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: the draft, you're not eligible to be signed. That's a
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: whole process. Do you understand what I'm saying?
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:39:09Speaker 9: Yeah, Does he have the opportunity to, like say.
- 1:39:14Speaker 6: I don't want to go to Yes, but that's just
- 1:39:17Speaker 6: is that just a warning shot?
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: Though John always Didli Manning did it. Yeah. I would
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: take them and say, all right, we're not what he's
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: gonna do.
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: Well, I saw the teams that he named like that
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: he wanted to play for. I don't know what it
- 1:39:28Speaker 6: was like his like five favorite teams as a kid
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: like and there was no rhyme or reason to like
- 1:39:32Speaker 6: why he wanted to see all these like, oh he
- 1:39:35Speaker 6: said this, he said that, but like it's sources, it's
- 1:39:37Speaker 6: always sources, said he said this, Like.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: I got an argument with Fred in the post game show.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: It's his father is a potential problem that would worry.
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: Like Friday Night Lights with Michael B. Jordan's bad Did
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: he even make it that.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Far in the show, Michael, Did I make it that far?
- 1:39:51Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: Did you watch the show?
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: I watched every episode that the show was phenomenous.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: Best show. Yeah, I got to watch.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Michael B. Jordan was as good as a smash though
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: the Smash was better than Michael B. Joris, much better
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: running back.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: Do you want my idea topic here?
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: This is what we're here for.
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: Friday night Lights. We got Friday Night Lights. But it's
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: Minnesota high school hockey. They need to make that dude,
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: You would.
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: Like that, dude, I I almost I tried to. Well,
- 1:40:16Speaker 6: there's a book about Minnesota high school hockey. I forget
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: what the title is out the top of my head.
- 1:40:19Speaker 6: But but some producers are trying to make a movie
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: into it, and so I had like a meeting about
- 1:40:23Speaker 6: like trying it the same thing though it's a Minnesota
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: high school hockey. But I'm a mask guy. I can't.
- 1:40:28Speaker 6: I can't, I can't.
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: I want I want to do prep school hockey. That's
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: what you said, school.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Prep school hockey.
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: Well, with all these new hockey schools that are coming
- 1:40:34Speaker 6: out now, like they're just academy rich like Charles, like
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: Mattinyon went under. But like those schools now are they're
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: like hockey academies. They're not even you know, real schools anymore.
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: They're just people go to play hockey.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: So is that like Mount Saint Charles is not a
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: school anymore.
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: It's just still a school. But I think their primary
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: img of ice focus hockey team. They have like seven
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: teams or something crazy like that. I just don't know
- 1:40:59Speaker 6: what the end of it all is. Like it's just
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: like what you're you're gonna put all this time and
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: money into it. Your kid's gonna be a twenty two
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: year old freshman at like Trinity, like you know, like
- 1:41:08Speaker 6: check twenty five, like and what like what what to
- 1:41:12Speaker 6: what end are you getting? I don't know, I don't
- 1:41:14Speaker 6: get it. I just it's it's totally different.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: Quinnipiac National title. So who's to argue?
- 1:41:19Speaker 6: I saw some I saw some some recruits there for Northeast.
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: They did you some signings?
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: Did I miss that? I'm mad? If you're out, I'm
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: not out. I'm just mad.
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: Yeah, speed speed ways in and just says I think
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: there's a zero point zero chance the Crafts don't keep
- 1:41:35Speaker 6: Mayo on the staff in what capacity I'm not sure,
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: but odds are a promotion of some sort. What constraints
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: does that create when rebuilding the coaching staff? Too many
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: in my honest opinion.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I think if it's not head coach, he's not
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: coming back.
- 1:41:47Speaker 9: Yeah you think you don't think you would stay for
- 1:41:49Speaker 9: DC because he's not actually the DC.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: He's not the head coach. I don't think he's going
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: to have the option.
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: Right, you can't hire the DC.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Unless I mean, I'm not saying zero point zero like
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: maybe they high Mike do so Mike Dusau really wants
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: Gerrod Mayo. Other teams that just want Mayo as well,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: But like, I don't know why you would stay if
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: you felt like, right, well, if this whole thing that
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: we've been sold on is that they convinced him to
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: stay last year because he's the guy in waiting, and
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: then you make a move and you don't. I mean
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: I would if I were Gerard, I would leave.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: It's also before we went to and ten.
- 1:42:20Speaker 6: But it just makes me wonder, like, really, what was
- 1:42:22Speaker 6: going on last year with the whole because I mean
- 1:42:24Speaker 6: I was reviewing some of the stuff we did in
- 1:42:26Speaker 6: the off season last year where you had, you know,
- 1:42:28Speaker 6: it was like a big deal about Mayo getting a
- 1:42:30Speaker 6: contract extension and we were kind of trumpeting that, and
- 1:42:33Speaker 6: you know, we get to this point now and if
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: I mean, like logically, and I mean I think everybody
- 1:42:38Speaker 6: realizes that it seems like, well, they love Mayo, they
- 1:42:41Speaker 6: wanted to keep him around, like he's got to be
- 1:42:43Speaker 6: the clubhouse favorite right now, to be to be that guy.
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: But there's no other real way to consider unless you said,
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: unless the guy who wrote and said, you know the
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: Billy O thing where it's Billy Oh, and you know,
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: we'll just kind of shift everybody a little bit. But
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: I don't know, It's just it's hard to see him
- 1:42:58Speaker 6: staying unless he's the head which because otherwise the new
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: head coaching is going to be up to him, right
- 1:43:03Speaker 6: or GM I wanted.
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: I want GM, That's what I want.
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: I just wanted what a new G. What about a
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: new GM?
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: I want a GM would be great.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: I want the San Francisco assistant guy.
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: Yeah, just with with Mayo Adam Peters, Yeah, just like
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: come on, and then maybe a new offensive coordinator.
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: I just want somebody to pick the players for US
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: de Marcus.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: Covington Yeah, and I would. And I wouldn't be opposed
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: to Billy oh staying if he wanted to, but I
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: would put that in a similar situation to matter that
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: we were just talking about. If O'Brien doesn't get the job,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: he probably wants to go somewhere else to get a job.
- 1:43:33Speaker 6: I I still don't know how I feel about O'Brien,
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: Like I like my immediate reaction is like, I don't
- 1:43:39Speaker 6: really feel it's his fault.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: I can't argue with the results though. It's the worst
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: offensive football and he's the offensive so I get that.
- 1:43:46Speaker 6: I think part of it is just still I'm living
- 1:43:48Speaker 6: off of that first press conference moment when he came
- 1:43:50Speaker 6: in down there in the press room and last spring
- 1:43:53Speaker 6: and it was like, oh, thank god, we got it,
- 1:43:55Speaker 6: like a you know, real offensive adult back in the room,
- 1:43:58Speaker 6: knows what he wants, knows what he's gonna do. We're
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: going to be fine, you know, at the very least,
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: this will be an average offense. He'll get He'll get
- 1:44:04Speaker 6: Mac back on track in three months.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: Nope.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: So what about Saracen? What you think of him as
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: a quarterback?
- 1:44:11Speaker 4: A great guy, the great guy, gretty guy, gritty.
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: Yeah, got the most out of his better than yeah. Yeah,
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: got the most out of his ability, playing well above
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: the rim with Amy t.
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: Who's the long haired who's the long haired? Wild card kid?
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: Riggins?
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: Riggins?
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: I watched a few episodes. Do you watch any of this? Now,
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: this isn't a lot there was there.
- 1:44:29Speaker 4: Was Riggins need the right coach, he would have went
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: to the league.
- 1:44:33Speaker 6: And how many seasons did did.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: This series go?
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: Five?
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: But it was during the writers strike so that you
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: could like tell there's some flaws. In season two, all.
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: Of a sudden, the kids got looked like two years older.
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: Yeah, and then like people are getting murdered and like
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: it's crazy.
- 1:44:47Speaker 6: But were the same kids on the team, like or
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: was there like a freshman class and they rotated over?
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: Ashman class comes through and that I won't spoil it,
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: but no, no.
- 1:44:55Speaker 6: It's okay.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: It is like fifteen years old at this point. Spoiler.
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: I think shoul watching. So you have your initial class
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: and then it turns out the town it's a fictional town.
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: There's the east side of town that happens like that's
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: the last two seasons.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so he has to go with the other
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: like East Dylan.
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: Yeah, and then the school you were rooting for is
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: now like the bad.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Guys, right, they turned into the bad guys because they
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: they kicked coach Taylor out.
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: By the way, I love that's pretty good. I mean
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: that's just from like a hey, we're running out of steam.
- 1:45:25Speaker 6: How can we spice this up here? Is because I
- 1:45:27Speaker 6: mean all TV series dramas get it's.
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: Just funny to see, like the actor comes in, Luke Cafferty.
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: By far the third worst third, you know, behind Michael B.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: Jordan's and Smash, you know, but a good, solid player nonetheless.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: But then he's like, you know, he's having some physical
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: issues and stuff.
- 1:45:43Speaker 6: It's like, is this your law and Arto Paul you
- 1:45:45Speaker 6: seem like you you love the show.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: Oh, it's great.
- 1:45:49Speaker 6: I've watched it. I've watched probably like the first three
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: four episodes and whatever.
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: Definitely watched every episode, the best of scene, the old
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: actors who like Jesse Plevens, he's in it. I remember
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: Michael B. Jordan.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I didn't. I don't really know if Jesse Plemons and
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: anything else.
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: He's He's in Kill as a Flower Moon Game. I
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: can go on for a while. What else I don't know.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: He's too many movies.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: Okay, so so far it just sounds like things that
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: I haven't seen. So that's why I didn't know. But
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: Minka Kelly, a young Minka Kelly, No, I'm familiar.
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: Are you?
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Lila garrety was throwing high heat. Uh that was the
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: other one. But Jesse Plemons with the tyra like you said,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: it was kind of like flaws in.
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: Yeah, what about Buddy Garrett as GM we could do something.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Buddy Garretty was a good, solid, crooked booster with a
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: good heart.
- 1:46:36Speaker 6: Okay, so I think we got your next you halftime,
- 1:46:39Speaker 6: your next Pew say this is the Pew Happen Show.
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: You gotta get Paul on. We're gonna happy Friday night lights,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Breaking Bad, like, come on, he didn't see Breaking Bad?
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Like Mike, have any idea what that.
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: Is black black man, at least I know what Black Mass.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: I do remember him in.
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: Black Mass American Maid.
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: I never heard of that. I do remember him in
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: Black Mass Battleship Vice.
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: Seriously, never I'll get you on the halftime show.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: But we could do Mike's Mad at Me. But we
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: could do definitely thirty five minute.
- 1:47:10Speaker 6: Well, Christian did write in and just said, not a
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: nice friend you have there, Paul, shame on you do
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: so we you know he wrote in about my I'm
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: sorry for the Italians there. Yeah, to mean to hurt
- 1:47:18Speaker 6: your feelings, very very hurt. Bart from Poland rights in
- 1:47:23Speaker 6: Hey guys. On the pregame show, Paul said, in response
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: to my email of time.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: Nothing taking nothing good starts with that line taking somebody's
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: coming at you with receipts.
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: Taking Daniels in the top three, that he would be
- 1:47:34Speaker 6: cautious about a player jumping twenty to thirty spots after
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: the season is over. And I agree with that. However,
- 1:47:39Speaker 6: I don't think it applies here. While Daniels wasn't a
- 1:47:41Speaker 6: first rounder before the season, now Daniels is already a
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: consensus top ten to fifteen pick by most draft experts.
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: Yeah, fifteen, we're talking about taking him at two. Yeah,
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I agree with I agree with his premise exactly, and
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: I do. I do think it's different. What really And Mike,
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: you can back me up on this because you and
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: I did argue a little bit about this at the time.
- 1:48:06Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: What really troubled me about mac Jones was he did
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: not rise now at this time of the football season.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: Mac Jones wasn't shooting up the draft boards to the
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: first round. Yeah, it was after the season. Those are
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: the guys that worry me that something happens between February
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: first and April thirtieth that causes a guy to go
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: from a third round pick to the middle of the
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: first round. Those guys worry me. And that always worried
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: me about mac Jones. Is he just interviewing great? Everybody
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: likes the guy?
- 1:48:39Speaker 9: Like?
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Is that all this is about? Jayden Daniels, to the
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: emailer's credit, maybe didn't start the season as a first
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: round pick, but he's played his way into being a
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: first round pick. That worried me about Zach Wilson, by
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: the way, too. Yeah, I didn't remember anybody talking about
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: Zach Wilson in the first round until you know that
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: season was over.
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: Yeah, just Ben keeping you guys correct. He said Michael B.
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: Jordan was a QB, not a running back.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: I think I may have said that that is correct.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: I will I will own that. I will own that
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: it wasn't his first practice. Why can I not remember
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: what his name was? Oh, I can't remember his name.
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna get that real quick. It's driving
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: me crazy.
- 1:49:19Speaker 6: Is it safe to say with this year's quarterbacks?
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: This is really getting mad? And we're not talking Lauren
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Orders completely?
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: Is it safe to say, though, that this year's quarterback
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: class there isn't really a mac Jones type lacking athleticism? Like,
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: are all these guys at least have pretty good athleticism.
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: They can talk and run a little bit.
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know of any of them that don't
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: have any ability to make a play with their legs.
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: I feel Notre Dame's quarterbacks.
- 1:49:49Speaker 6: Are Yeah, well you would know say it doesn't have
- 1:49:53Speaker 6: any I mean, wait, aren't you gonna aren't you gonna
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: be on the offensive tackle though? Isn't that going to
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: be your Yeah?
- 1:49:58Speaker 9: Oh yeah, but I feel like I feel like they
- 1:50:01Speaker 9: always have a great offensive line and a pocket passing quarterback.
- 1:50:04Speaker 9: They really The last one that was mobile was like
- 1:50:10Speaker 9: DeShawn which he didn't last long ago. I remember him, yeah,
- 1:50:13Speaker 9: and then yeah, he didn't last he didn't last long.
- 1:50:16Speaker 9: And then and then Brandan Winbush who he ended up
- 1:50:19Speaker 9: transferring to.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: And I'm not gonna say anything like overlly disrespectful, but
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: that's why you haven't been relevant.
- 1:50:26Speaker 9: Yeah, they always have a pocket passer, a great offensive line, like,
- 1:50:29Speaker 9: but their quarterbacks don't pan out.
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: I think you're just gonna run out there with your
- 1:50:33Speaker 6: helmets shining and the line.
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: Sam Hartman will be that guy that people will talk
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: themselves into him. You know, a lot of experience, started,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: a million games, a lot of production.
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: Pocket passer.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they just good beard, strong beard.
- 1:50:46Speaker 6: Chris Cassidy uh from here in art. He weighs and says,
- 1:50:49Speaker 6: Marmon Harrison and Bonnix. Later, I will stand by.
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Bone nexs has been playing with the Obama administration.
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: I have I gotta tell you. I will say I
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: am out on Bonix.
- 1:50:59Speaker 9: It would be cool to get Marvin Harrison and then
- 1:51:02Speaker 9: getting no and then getting jaded like that would be
- 1:51:07Speaker 9: great if you could trade up and get him late
- 1:51:09Speaker 9: first round but still get Marvin in that first pick.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: You treat the mock draft simulator like mad and you
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: can get Caleb and Marvin.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: But that's what people do. That's what people do on Twitter. Yeah,
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: somehow they just you know, the guy I want is
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: available every pick, like I got I don't know if
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: you know, but I got Jaden Daniels.
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: And the thing is like that, the top prospects of
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: the receivers are so good. Like obviously, like we said earlier,
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: Marvin Harrison is the top guy, but if you get
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: a quarterback, you can maybe get you know, with that
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: the second which is pretty much the first, you can
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: move up and maybe get one of those other holes.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean do it. I mean I don't know
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: how high these guys are going to go. I don't
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: do the mock draft stuff, certainly not yet, but I
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: won't ever do it. Why not take a quarterback, you know,
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: take Jayden Daniels, you know, wherever in the top five,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: and then get maliite neighbors later.
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: It's going to happen to it happened this year. It's
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: going to be receiver, receiver, receiver, it happens a Flowers,
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: Quintin Johnson on all the other two. But you know
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: that's going to happen.
- 1:52:05Speaker 6: Yes, maybe yeah, Well let me let me ask you
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: guys this this maybe last question here at some I've
- 1:52:10Speaker 6: just been thinking about looking at next year's depth chart.
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: You have DeVante Parker is under contract, Juju Smith Schuster
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: is under contract to Mario Douglas under contract.
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: That's the question.
- 1:52:19Speaker 6: Wait for it, Wait for it. Taekwon Thornton is under contract.
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: So four guys. Kendrick Bourne is a free agent. How
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: would you approach this group this offseason? Because you're spending
- 1:52:29Speaker 6: a lot of money. Now, you certainly could cut. You
- 1:52:31Speaker 6: could cut Juji, you could cut DeVante Parker. I mean
- 1:52:32Speaker 6: they've shown an appetite to give DeVante Parker a couple
- 1:52:35Speaker 6: contracts now, So how would you approach it? Would you
- 1:52:38Speaker 6: go into free agency and spend more money? Would you
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: cut those guys, eat the eat the dead money and
- 1:52:43Speaker 6: try to rebuild it, you know, through free agency? Would
- 1:52:46Speaker 6: you just say, let's bring those guys back and draft
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: a couple guys and try to incorporate them in a
- 1:52:50Speaker 6: manageable salary, Like how would you kind of approach it?
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: Knowing that and then Kendrick Bourne's out there too. Would
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: you resign Kendrick Bourne.
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: Kenrick the rest of them?
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: Yeah, if you can trade them, awesome, If not, smell you.
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: So sign Kendrick Bourne to a free agency deal, your deal.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: I have no interest in that.
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm just saying because I think that's he's been here,
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: he knows it, and like he's off the ACL so
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: you can get him.
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: But what does he know You're going to be running
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: something totally different than when you're running.
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: Well, I think we're losing. We're losing down some vets
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: and you need a vet in a lot.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: Yeah, my my plan would be to go heavy in
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: free agency for somebody and.
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: One guy, like get a big dog, Mike, get Mike Evans, you.
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: Know, Mike Evans, t Higgins. Now t Higgins is probably
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: going to be too much for them, but I would
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: go heavy for one of those guys, and then that
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: takes the pressure off and and and yeah, I know
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: that like Juju's cap hit if they cut him is
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: like over twelve million, so he's probably not going to
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: get cut. But you could probably figure out a way
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: to get rid of one of those guys somehow, that's
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: my question. And then you have to draft. Some I
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: do think there's always good receivers that you can get
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: on Day two. So if you don't, I mean, I
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: get it. Tackles a huge need. Quarterbacks a huge need. Yeah,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: wide receiver is a huge need. But you can't get
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: them all in the first round, so maybe you wait
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: for Day two and get a good receiver instead of
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: Marvin Harrison the June.
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: That's just what I'm struggling with is I just feel
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: like their finances at the position are completely upside down
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: right now, and I just you know, you need you
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: need better players for sure, but I just there's no
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: easy way to kind of wave a wand and get
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: rid of the guys you don't want with dead money
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: and bring in the new guys you.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: Do And by the way, you could have zero tight
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: ends too.
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54:26Speaker 9: So it's also like, how did you not learn anything
- 1:54:28Speaker 9: from John new and Nelson Agalore in that group, and
- 1:54:31Speaker 9: then you spend money on DeVante Parker.
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: Who's done nothing, and you do who like isn't able
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: to do what he used to do.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: Those are I'm.
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: Confused concerning They're concerning. I mean, it's it's I mean,
- 1:54:41Speaker 6: then those are you know, recent pieces that they I mean, they.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: You have to hope that you're gonna, you know, when
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: you change this, that the change and approach is going
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: to help those guys be bigger factors, because you can't
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: just have you can't just change the receivers. You know,
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: you can't bring in t Higgins and think, well, what's
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: going to prove Higgins from being like Kendrick born in
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: Nelson Agaloor and just be you know, like, no, you
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: got to do something to make sure that they enemy assimilarly.
- 1:55:07Speaker 6: Isn't it fair to say that that the Patriots had
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: have had way more interest in a guy like Devonte
- 1:55:11Speaker 6: Parker than probably any other team in the league.
- 1:55:13Speaker 10: Is there?
- 1:55:13Speaker 6: Is it really reasonable to believe that a coach, a
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: new coach would come in here and have a use
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: for him, Like I just I struggled to see a
- 1:55:20Speaker 6: new coach coming in and saying this is a this
- 1:55:22Speaker 6: is a guy we need to keep that we need
- 1:55:23Speaker 6: to keep this contested.
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: But I'll tell you that would be a fear because
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: if you get rid of both of those guys, and
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: now the millions and millions of dollars in cast space
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: and you spend you know, twenty million of them is
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: dead money on two receivers that aren't on your team.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: That's that's hard.
- 1:55:41Speaker 9: I'm hoping whoever it is comes in and is like,
- 1:55:43Speaker 9: not not as dramatic as coach Prime, but comes in
- 1:55:46Speaker 9: and is like, this roster sucks and we might have
- 1:55:49Speaker 9: to bite a few million, but like we cannot.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: Keep all of them.
- 1:55:52Speaker 6: Yeah, would you resend Hunter Henry?
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: Yeah? I would.
- 1:55:56Speaker 6: It depends what the price is, to be honest, But
- 1:55:58Speaker 6: would Redo No, Well, how would you approach to the
- 1:56:01Speaker 6: tight end position?
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: Then look, keep Barrel, but I wouldn't be opposed to
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: keeping him as like tight end. But I would probably
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: try to draft the guy, maybe sign somebody in free
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: agency that's you know a little bit of a lesser deal,
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: Like you're gonna get him at less money than he's making.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: You already paid him too much money.
- 1:56:20Speaker 6: Yeah, draft, I think he's right around thirty. But I mean,
- 1:56:25Speaker 6: I I like what the Packers did. I mean, you know,
- 1:56:27Speaker 6: they like all this stuff that we're talking about. I
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: feel like they've just been stacking receivers. They drafted two
- 1:56:32Speaker 6: tight ends last year. I mean they got you know,
- 1:56:33Speaker 6: Watson and where, but not in the first I mean
- 1:56:38Speaker 6: second Watson do But those first two days read but
- 1:56:42Speaker 6: talented guys not is a craft Tucker Craft right?
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: And then the other guy the other think of the
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: other musk Grave, lukebus Grave, like not first round picks,
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: like you can do it, but you you gotta do
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: it and you had.
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: Some throwing a GM and you probably need department.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but I just did fresh minds.
- 1:57:00Speaker 6: I think you look at Green Bay right now, and
- 1:57:02Speaker 6: that's you know, I mean, I don't know how good
- 1:57:04Speaker 6: they really are. I mean everyone's high, but they're young, energetic.
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: Do you think now this is where I would say,
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: like as opposed to Pittsburgh, which I don't think has
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: that kind of talent on the roster, green Bay I
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: can see something if Jordan Love continues to play the
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: way he did the last three games, and these guys,
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: I can see something. These guys are all going to
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: get better together and then all of a sudden, you know,
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: and not bad on the defensive side of the ball
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: either in terms of youth with like they have and
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: kway Walker is there too, right they have I mean
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: they have something individual personnel JayR Alexander's no, you know,
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: no dinosaur. They could be, you know, two years from now,
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: you can be looking at them the way we look
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: at San Francisco.
- 1:57:45Speaker 6: Now, all right, well that's gonna do it for us.
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: Make sure you stay for the playbook. John Rook up
