• 2:15
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, dad, I don't have time to have you come and pick up the car.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: I don't have time for that.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: I'm going to Croatia.
• 2:21
Speaker 1: She gives me this long schedule of where she's going to be and where she is, so I just found out yesterday, I think it was that she's going to Croatia sometime in the next couple of months.
• 2:30
  Speaker 4: What's there?
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: I don't know what's there.
• 2:32
  Speaker 4: It's not a vacation country.
• 2:33
Speaker 4: It's a little more than just a road trip.
• 2:34
Speaker 4: A summer road trip, yeah, I'll say the least.
• 2:37
Speaker 1: But speaking of summer road trips, I want to talk to you today about getting our regular everyday driver cleaned up and ready for a family road trip.
• 2:47
Speaker 1: Let's say, for instance, that we're going to go see my Aunt Mary who's deceased, go see my Aunt Mary up in Wisconsin, okay, okay, and that's a 1200 mile trip.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: We're going to be locked in the car together, probably for two days.
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: It's a 1200 mile trip.
• 3:02
Speaker 4: And we want to have.
• 3:03
Speaker 4: Well, I'm going to say the first thing you're going to want to do is make sure to invest in an air freshener.
• 3:07
Speaker 4: If you're locked in a car together that long together, you might need a good air freshener.
• 3:12
Speaker 1: And what do you suggest as far as an air freshener is concerned?
• 3:15
Speaker 1: I use those Febreze things and they're pretty good.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: I like the little trees.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: You know I love vent clips.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: I absolutely love those things, the little Glade ones, you know, just the cheap little whatever you can buy at Walmart or you know wherever Mars is still using the cut-out pine tree yeah, hang it from the mirror.
• 3:35
Speaker 1: Hang it from the mirror.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: He goes back to 1950.
• 3:39
Speaker 4: A detailer secret is if you need a quick air freshener, keep some dryer sheets in a Ziploc bag and stick them in your vents.
• 3:49
Speaker 4: If you need something somebody you know breaks wind in the car while everybody else is in there shove them in the vents real quick.
• 3:55
Speaker 4: It makes everything smell like laundry.
• 3:57
Speaker 2: Shove them in the person's vent or the vent of the car.
• 4:01
Speaker 4: The vents of the car?
• 4:01
  Speaker 4: Yeah, there's that.
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: Well, that's a great idea.
• 4:04
Speaker 3: I never even thought about that I keep dryer sheets in my truck, but it's to get the bugs off, they stay pretty fresh for quite a while.
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: I'll be.
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: Well, that's a great idea.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: I'm going to try that.
• 4:12
Speaker 1: Next time I buy one of those expensive little Febreze vent things, I'll try some dryer sheets.
• 4:19
  Speaker 1: That's a great idea.
• 4:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, I Great idea.
• 4:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, I put them down in the feet ones so you can't see them sticking out, gotcha.
• 4:24
Speaker 4: You know you put them down in the little feet vents and you just turn that on and it smells nice.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: What kind of car do you have?
• 4:30
  Speaker 4: I have a Jeep Wrangler.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: Yeah right, Does it have vents?
• 4:33
  Speaker 1: Down there?
• 4:34
  Speaker 4: It does.
• 4:34
Speaker 4: Actually I'll be, it does.
• 4:38
Speaker 1: And you look like a.
• 4:39
  Speaker 4: Wrangler person.
• 4:39
Speaker 4: Of course I'm a Wrangler girl.
• 4:41
Speaker 4: I mean, come on, who else has you know?
• 4:43
  Speaker 4: Oh, their bandanas.
• 4:45
Speaker 4: Look at them, their pink bandanas.
• 4:48
Speaker 1: She got her nails done for a trip I love it, I did All right.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: So let's start on the outside of the car, and I know that washing has always been a big thing over there at Gulf Coast Auto Shield.
• 5:05
Speaker 4: We learned from John several years ago that you use two buckets and not one like I used to use.
• 5:07
Speaker 4: I don't ever do that anymore.
• 5:08
Speaker 4: You always want to use a soap bucket and then a clean rinse bucket with a grit guard in the bottom yes.
• 5:10
Speaker 4: So that way you're not picking up the dirt and the bugs and the stinger off the bee that was stuck to your grill and wiping it all over your car.
• 5:17
Speaker 1: Right, and you know it's funny because I actually bought one.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: Well, a couple of years ago.
• 5:22
Speaker 1: I've got the blue one over there.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: It's got a grit guard in it and I think I bought it at Walmart or something.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: It was cheap and it was easy to get.
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: It was there.
• 5:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know you don't need some big fancy bucket system.
• 5:33
Speaker 4: I mean a Home Depot bucket and a grit guard that you can pick up for a couple of bucks at Walmart.
• 5:39
Speaker 1: What kind of mitt do you use?
• 5:46
Speaker 4: You know, you use um.
• 5:46
Speaker 4: You know what is.
• 5:47
Speaker 4: It's a microfiber mitt is what it is.
• 5:47
Speaker 4: I don't like the ones that have the little fingers okay, you know which ones I'm talking about.
• 5:50
Speaker 4: They've got little fingery things on them.
• 5:50
  Speaker 4: I don't like those ones.
• 5:51
Speaker 4: They tend to hold on to too much stuff.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: I like the microfiber one but it's a mitt it is a mitt not a, not a glove, but I actually never, put my hand inside of the mitt itself, Because to me I don't get as much control.
• 6:07
  Speaker 4: Let me see.
• 6:08
Speaker 4: I know we've got a stinking mitt somewhere.
• 6:10
Speaker 4: Of course there's not one on the shelf when I go to look for it, right, Of course Never would be.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: I like the Christmas tree that's in the window in the waiting room.
• 6:18
Speaker 4: You know we keep that Christmas tree up year-round and it gets decorated by John's wife for every holiday.
• 6:24
  Speaker 1: That's good.
• 6:24
Speaker 1: So what is Memorial Day holiday?
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: American flags.
• 6:28
Speaker 4: Yes, so she puts up American flags and then that stays up through.
• 6:33
  Speaker 2: July.
• 6:33
Speaker 2: Goodness July 4th, fourth of July.
• 6:36
Speaker 2: Thank you, yes, yeah.
• 6:37
Speaker 4: So these are like the mitts that we use.
• 6:39
  Speaker 4: Oh, they're big.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: You put your hand, you can I.
• 6:40
Speaker 4: You put your hand, you can I got you All right, yeah, so they're big, they're fluffy, you know, but I never do, I always just kind of grab a hold of it.
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 6:49
Speaker 4: Because I like to fill up the mitt part.
• 6:51
Speaker 4: I like to open it up and put my soap in there, so that way it kind of sloshes everywhere.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: I like to have a little fun with it.
• 6:58
Speaker 1: You know, and speaking of that, what kind of soap do we use?
• 7:01
Speaker 4: We use personally here we use the Meguiar's Gold.
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: That's what I use.
• 7:05
  Speaker 1: Imagine that.
• 7:07
Speaker 4: You know it's actually really good stuff.
• 7:09
Speaker 4: You know there's a lot of people that kind of poo-poo on, you know Meguiar's because you can buy it so easily, but it is actually a great product.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: And it doesn't take a whole lot of it.
• 7:18
Speaker 1: No, and it's really not that expensive.
• 7:21
Speaker 1: You can buy a half gallon at Walmart pretty cheap.
• 7:23
Speaker 1: It's really not that expensive.
• 7:24
Speaker 1: You can buy a half gallon at Walmart pretty cheap, correct, yeah, yeah, correct.
• 7:26
Speaker 4: And then you know, meguiar's also has a great spray wax.
• 7:28
Speaker 4: Spray waxes these days are the way to go instead of your old paste waxes.
• 7:32
  Speaker 1: Now the.
• 7:33
Speaker 4: Meguiar's oh, what is it?
• 7:34
Speaker 4: It comes in a tin.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: I love that stuff, but it's just.
• 7:37
Speaker 4: I mean, if you're just trying to get out, you know, get on the road, it's very time-consuming.
• 7:43
  Speaker 1: Labor-intensive.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's the one thing I've always hated about paste wax is oh my God.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: It gets stuck in all the crevices and turns white and it's just a mess to get off the car.
• 7:53
Speaker 4: It really is, and you can never even just wash it off the car either.
• 7:56
Speaker 4: And you know one of the other things and don't kill me.
• 7:59
Speaker 1: Of course I don't do this on the Corvette, but if you've got an everyday driver and you've got emblems on it and that sort of stuff, a soft bristle toothbrush is a good thing, and so are Q-tips.
• 8:10
  Speaker 4: Q-tips.
• 8:10
Speaker 4: You know, what I actually suggest is go buy a cheap thing of makeup brushes, because makeup brushes are so soft for a woman's skin that it's actually it's really gentle in and around the emblems.
• 8:23
Speaker 3: You have some of those, don't you Don?
• 8:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got some.
• 8:25
Speaker 2: I do, I do have some Start recycling those I'm sure you've got some of those stored underneath your sink in your bathroom, Right Don.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: He's got one in his pocket right now, right now, yeah, it's right there, right in front of my makeup mirror.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: Is that a soft brush you have?
• 8:38
Speaker 1: You know, one of the things that's really easy to detail are the taillights of a car, and it's funny because you pull up to a car that's been detailed and you look at the taillights and you know most of them are pretty detailed, pretty intricate yeah as far as design is concerned, and the dirt gets stuck in there, and what have you?
• 9:06
Speaker 1: And if those are really clean, you've got a clean car, generally speaking.
• 9:10
Speaker 1: Okay, let's move to the inside, okay, so on the interior.
• 9:15
Speaker 4: One big thing that most people do not do when they go to clean their interiors is get down in no man's land, you know, in between the center console and the seat.
• 9:25
Speaker 4: That's where all the french fries, all the popcorn bottle caps, all the stuff that tends to stick, french fries, all the popcorn bottle caps, all the stuff that tends to stick.
• 9:32
Speaker 4: You know, quick detail or secret is take your air chuck and just blow all that crap out before you decide to vacuum.
• 9:40
Speaker 1: That's a wonderful idea, and you know what they also make aerosol cans of air for your computer, and if you don't have a nozzle hooked up to the compressor, you don't have all that.
• 9:55
Speaker 1: Just get you a can of that.
• 9:57
Speaker 3: I have to say something.
• 9:59
Speaker 2: I've never eaten anything in my new car and I will not allow any eating.
• 10:02
Speaker 2: I've got water, I've had a cup of coffee or two, but I won't eat fries.
• 10:06
Speaker 2: Or if you get something from McDonald's or whatever, I don't open that bag until I get home.
• 10:11
Speaker 2: See, kathy does the same thing.
• 10:13
Speaker 2: She'll eat a whole thing of French fries before you get home, and that's how they get spilled Popcorn.
• 10:18
  Speaker 2: No way.
• 10:22
Speaker 1: No, I don't eat in my car, so I'll never have that issue.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: But you know, Jeff is weird that way, so we'll just go with that, how about?
• 10:27
Speaker 3: you, morris, I've your truck.
• 10:29
Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I'm trying to figure out how I can get a big, get the air compressor on one end under the seat and the vacuum cleaner hose on the other end, kind of blow it all in there together.
• 10:39
Speaker 2: I heard they found a Lindbergh baby in your car.
• 10:44
Speaker 1: Now I will say this that I have a vacuum cleaner that I've had for decades, with one of those slim nozzles.
• 10:50
Speaker 1: And boy I tell you what.
• 10:52
Speaker 1: I can get almost everything out with those slim nozzles.
• 10:55
Speaker 1: I use that slim nozzle for everything.
• 10:57
Speaker 4: Oh, yes, yes, you know, what I do a lot of times is with my shop vac, because I hold my shop vac here and I've got the air in the other hand and I just kind of blow it towards the shop vac, yeah, yeah.
• 11:07
Speaker 4: So that way it sucks the majority of it up.
• 11:09
Speaker 4: You know, when you've got a lot of dog hair, you've got kids you've got.
• 11:13
Speaker 4: You know minivans always have goldfish and everything shoved into the cracks and that air just gets rid of all of it.
• 11:21
Speaker 4: That really helps to get rid of any smell.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: I remember vividly that car floor mats were to protect the carpet underneath the floor mat.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: Well then they all of a sudden decided huh well, we're not going to make them rubber anymore, we're just going to make them carpet.
• 11:36
Speaker 1: So you've got carpet on top of carpet.
• 11:38
Speaker 1: Now what I do?
• 11:39
Speaker 1: Correct me if I'm doing it the wrong way.
• 11:42
Speaker 1: If it gets really bad and the mats get kind of they smell like dirt, take the garden hose out, wash them all out, get the dirt out of them first.
• 11:54
Speaker 1: Then I take soap suds that I'm going to use for my laundry, put a little bit on there and brush it with a broom, get it all stirred up and sudsy and everything, and then rinse it again.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: Man, they're like brand new when you get done Of course you've got to let them out in the sunshine.
• 12:08
Speaker 4: Can I give you a quick tip for detail or secret?
• 12:10
Speaker 4: Can I give you a quick tip for detail or?
• 12:11
  Speaker 1: secret yeah, please.
• 12:12
  Speaker 4: Not as hard.
• 12:13
Speaker 4: Yeah, go to the dollar store, buy a toilet brush.
• 12:17
Speaker 4: I know it sounds weird Break off the end and stick it on your drill.
• 12:21
Speaker 4: It'll spin, and then you just go down your mat.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: It'll brush out 90% of that crap before you ever wash it.
• 12:33
  Speaker 2: Listen to you.
• 12:33
Speaker 2: You know what Good firm brush.
• 12:35
Speaker 1: It just so happens I've got some wall-to-wall carpet in the house.
• 12:38
  Speaker 1: I'm thinking, well, there's a good idea.
• 12:40
Speaker 1: We'll just spend a good Saturday with the drill brush out there.
• 12:44
Speaker 2: Toilet brush in your carpet.
• 12:45
  Speaker 2: Yeah, there's that.
• 12:47
Speaker 3: They make these things called vacuum cleaners.
• 12:48
Speaker 3: They do, I've heard of those, mike.
• 12:48
Speaker 3: They make these things called vacuum cleaners.
• 12:49
  Speaker 2: They do.
• 12:50
Speaker 2: I've heard of those, Mike.
• 12:50
  Speaker 2: I have.
• 12:51
Speaker 2: I heard of them once yes.
• 12:53
Speaker 1: So what do you do for stains?
• 12:55
Speaker 1: You know I ran across some stuff years ago when I was working at Richardson Chevrolet and I've got a can of it over there Stains are important.
• 13:04
Speaker 1: It really does the job when it comes to Coke stains, oil and grease stains, and it's a yellow and red can.
• 13:13
Speaker 1: While you guys think about that, I'm going to go get it and find out what the name of it is.
• 13:17
Speaker 2: Oh, boy Yellow and red.
• 13:19
Speaker 2: Can here we go, tick-tock, what could it be?
• 13:23
Speaker 4: Well, wd is blue and yellow.
• 13:25
Speaker 4: Is it called awesome?
• 13:28
Speaker 2: It could be raid.
• 13:29
Speaker 3: There ain't no telling with him, it's behind the curtain.
• 13:31
Speaker 4: It could be raid.
• 13:32
Speaker 3: I was going to tell you you were talking about the floor mats.
• 13:34
  Speaker 3: I had a brother-in-law former brother-in-law.
• 13:36
Speaker 3: He bought a Chevrolet truck with rubber mats in it, so he goes and buys rubber mats to put over the rubber mat.
• 13:44
Speaker 3: Okay, that's cool, but then he would take towels and put on the rubber mats to put your feet on.
• 13:53
  Speaker 4: The towels.
• 13:54
Speaker 4: So he could wash the towels.
• 13:56
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 13:56
Speaker 3: So he washed the towels easier than washing the rubber mat.
• 13:59
Speaker 3: That was protecting the rubber mat from the factory.
• 14:02
Speaker 2: Or they just turn them over.
• 14:02
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, just turn it over to carpet, to carpet and have the rubber come up.
• 14:05
Speaker 3: Well, if you fold it right, you can turn it over three or four times.
• 14:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, you can, all right.
• 14:13
Speaker 4: What do you can turn it over three or four times, yeah, you can.
• 14:13
Speaker 4: All right, what do we got Now?
• 14:14
Speaker 4: Does anybody want to guess what it is?
• 14:14
  Speaker 4: I said something.
• 14:14
Speaker 4: I think it's called something awesome.
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: Isn't it?
• 14:17
Speaker 1: No, no, it's called Tough Stuff Multipurpose Foam Cleaner.
• 14:21
  Speaker 4: Tough Stuff.
• 14:22
  Speaker 4: You know what?
• 14:22
Speaker 4: That is actually pretty good stuff for carpet.
• 14:24
  Speaker 1: Thank you.
• 14:26
  Speaker 4: It really is.
• 14:26
  Speaker 4: It really is.
• 14:27
Speaker 4: Now, I don't suggest using that on leather, to be honest.
• 14:30
Speaker 4: No, no, not at all it says here.
• 14:33
Speaker 1: it says carpet spots, seat stains and vinyl surfaces, deep cleaning, and if you follow the directions since I'm not even going to tell you how long it's been you weren't even thought of back then.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: But I will tell you, we had it at Richardson Chevrolet and if there was any problem with any of the carpet in the vehicle or on the cloth seats, that's what we used.
• 14:58
Speaker 3: Don uses it around the house all the time on the cloth seats.
• 15:01
  Speaker 4: I'm sure.
• 15:02
Speaker 4: I'm sure On the couch and you know dining room chairs, because he makes a mess when he eats.
• 15:06
Speaker 3: I'm sure of it?
• 15:07
  Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
• 15:08
Speaker 3: That's what I was thinking, okay.
• 15:13
Speaker 1: So, and you know, back to the little space between the center console and the seat.
• 15:16
Speaker 1: Now they're making little things that go in there that you can put receipts in and what have you?
• 15:22
Speaker 4: The little inserts where everything falls to.
• 15:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, pull it out of there and then dump it out and start all over again, and you know that really messes up my coin collecting hobby, because that's where I get all my coins from.
• 15:33
Speaker 4: It's from in no man's land.
• 15:36
Speaker 1: Does anybody use coins anymore?
• 15:38
Speaker 1: That's the real question.
• 15:40
  Speaker 4: Very rarely yeah.
• 15:43
Speaker 1: So tell me what your thoughts are about wiping stuff on the dashboard, and I think you know what kind of product I'm talking about.
• 15:54
Speaker 4: Please don't use Armor All.
• 15:56
  Speaker 1: Armor.
• 15:57
Speaker 1: All is the worst.
• 15:58
Speaker 1: Well, I remember when that stuff came out, people put it on everything.
• 16:06
  Speaker 4: It was horrible.
• 16:07
Speaker 4: So, because it's so oily, what it does is it absorbs the heat it does not let.
• 16:10
Speaker 4: Absorbs the heat it does not let the heat go.
• 16:14
Speaker 4: So that's what's bubbling and cracking dashes.
• 16:16
Speaker 4: It's terrible stuff, you know.
• 16:19
Speaker 4: To be honest, what we use is the Grios leather conditioner.
• 16:24
  Speaker 1: On the dashboard.
• 16:25
  Speaker 4: On the dashboard.
• 16:26
Speaker 4: Yes, it's great for the vinyl and for leathers, yes, very good.
• 16:31
Speaker 4: So that's what I suggest is definitely using a leather conditioner, not the Armor All.
• 16:38
  Speaker 3: No oil-based.
• 16:38
  Speaker 3: It's like back whenever you're—.
• 16:40
  Speaker 4: Water-based conditioners only.
• 16:41
Speaker 3: Your girlfriend could sit next to you.
• 16:43
  Speaker 3: You used to.
• 16:43
Speaker 3: You know, in the early days, if you put too much Armor All in that seat, you go around a curve and she's gone.
• 16:48
Speaker 1: I mean she's gone I mean she's yeah it's terrible, okay, finally what do you use on tires?
• 16:57
  Speaker 4: tires, oh gosh.
• 16:58
Speaker 4: So I do not like to use a petroleum based uh tire shine right now.
• 17:04
Speaker 4: What we have, it's a product used by nano skin.
• 17:07
Speaker 4: It's a tire shine, but it's a water-based tire shine, so it's a no sling tire shine, because I like them just to look clean and pretty.
• 17:16
Speaker 4: I don't like them to be oily and slick looking, and this stuff is absolutely amazing.
• 17:23
  Speaker 1: I love it.
• 17:23
Speaker 1: I'm right with you.
• 17:24
Speaker 1: I found at Walmart again.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: I love Walmart's automotive department Jay Leno's tire treatment and Leno's tire treatment and it's not shiny and you put it on your rag and you wipe it off and it looks like it's right out of the showroom floor.
• 17:42
Speaker 4: And those are the ones that I suggest is that you're putting onto a pad or putting onto a rag.
• 17:47
Speaker 4: You don't want to be spraying that crap because you've got a freshly clean car and then you just sprayed stuff all over the body Exactly.
• 17:54
Speaker 4: So that just makes more work for you.
• 17:56
Speaker 1: Well, we hope that you have a wonderful time in Denver.
• 18:00
Speaker 1: Are you going to be there?
• 18:02
Speaker 1: Let's see Going tonight.
• 18:03
Speaker 1: I guess the big brouhaha is tomorrow.
• 18:07
Speaker 4: Correct, and then back tomorrow evening.
• 18:09
Speaker 1: Are you going to come back tomorrow night?
• 18:11
Speaker 4: Yes, I have to be at work on Monday morning.
• 18:14
Speaker 2: Are you taking Grandma to a dispensary?
• 18:18
Speaker 4: No, that we do not.
• 18:19
Speaker 4: If Grandma wants to go, I'm sure she's got enough gumption to do it herself, because I do come from her.
• 18:25
Speaker 4: So I'm just going to say I'm Grandma light.
• 18:28
Speaker 1: Gotcha, I got you Serene Peas.
• 18:32
Speaker 1: We love you, doll.

  Speaker 3: And.
• 23:08
Speaker 1: I may just have to make that trek.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: I think that the closest place that they come to here is Dallas.
• 23:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure.
• 23:16
Speaker 1: I have to look.
• 23:17
  Speaker 2: Tulsa's the big.
• 23:18
Speaker 2: Is it Tulsa where they got the big?
• 23:19
  Speaker 2: Tulsa's a big one?
• 23:19
  Speaker 2: Yeah, the Chili.
• 23:20
  Speaker 1: Bowl.
• 23:21
  Speaker 3: The Chili Bowl.
• 23:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, we got a couple of guys down in my area.
• 23:23
Speaker 3: Go up there and race.
• 23:25
  Speaker 2: That's in January.
• 23:25
Speaker 2: I think Tony Stewart used to own that track.
• 23:28
Speaker 2: Did he sell it or did he still own it?
• 23:29
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 23:30
  Speaker 3: Chili Bowl.
• 23:30
Speaker 3: I think he still owns that track.
• 23:32
Speaker 3: I don't know that he runs in the Chili Bowl Might have been.
• 23:35
Speaker 1: Somebody got run over up there Every day.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, All right, let's do some headlines, shall we?
• 23:46
Speaker 1: Us and China said they'll temporarily lower tariffs on each other's products in a dramatic ratcheting down of trade tensions.
• 23:54
Speaker 1: That buys the world's two largest economies three months to work toward a broader agreement.
• 24:01
Speaker 1: World's two largest economies three months to work toward a broader agreement.
• 24:04
Speaker 1: The combined 145% US levies on most Chinese imports will be reduced to 30%, including the rate tied to fentanyl, by May 14th, while 125% Chinese duties on US goods will drop to 10%, according to a joint statement from officials in a briefing on Monday in Geneva.
• 24:26
Speaker 1: I had several tariff stories that I was going to do, and because it changes so often, it's kind of a waste of time.
• 24:34
  Speaker 1: I can't if I told you a story today.
• 24:38
Speaker 1: It was a story that happened last week and since last week they haven't written another story about that particular aspect of the tariffs and I'm thinking this is a waste of time.
• 24:49
Speaker 1: I had like four or five stories and I thought, no, I'm just not going to do it.
• 24:52
Speaker 1: I'll explain to you why I'm not doing that.
• 24:54
Speaker 3: So there, you have it.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, we've talked to several people about coming on and talking about terrorists, but that's the same thing they say it happens so fast that it's hard to do.
• 25:06
Speaker 1: My gut tells me that all of this is going to work out for us in the long run.
• 25:12
Speaker 1: It's going to take a little time.
• 25:13
Speaker 1: It's very complicated and I went over that not only in an interview that we had, but also in a story that I read to everybody last week or week before about the complexity of finding the American content in a car.
• 25:30
Speaker 1: It doesn't make any difference where it's built Canada, mexico, the United States it has different components made in different parts.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: It has different components made in different parts and some of those parts go across the border, back to the United States, back across the border.
• 25:47
Speaker 1: So when it starts doing all of that stuff, where do you draw the line?
• 25:56
Speaker 3: How do you say well, that taxed it this amount, this taxed it that amount.
• 25:58
Speaker 3: You don't want to hit it three or four times Right.
• 26:00
Speaker 1: There's just a lot of confusion going on and this is going to get worked out I know it will eventually but right now it's just a big mess.
• 26:07
Speaker 1: Consumers are unimpressed with many driver-assistant features Duh and uncertain if more advanced systems will be useful, be useful.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: That's the assessment of a new JD Power white paper, which calls into question whether the efforts automakers are expending on driver assistance upgrades are worthwhile.
• 26:28
Speaker 1: Driver assistance having an identity crisis.
• 26:32
Speaker 1: I had one that dawned on me last week about lane keeping assist Total waste of time because you can't have your hands off the wheel for any more than five minutes.
• 26:42
Speaker 1: What's the purpose of having it?
• 26:44
Speaker 1: It's not a driving assist thing, it's not a cruise control, it's not something that's going to drive the car and it keeps fighting me on where I want the car placed in the lane that I'm in.
• 26:56
Speaker 1: Now you can turn it off.
• 26:57
Speaker 1: I don't want to turn it off, it doesn't need.
• 27:00
Speaker 1: If I want it, I'll turn it on.
• 27:01
  Speaker 1: Take it out.
• 27:01
Speaker 1: You know to turn it off it doesn't need.
• 27:02
Speaker 1: If I want it, I'll turn it on.
• 27:03
Speaker 3: Take it out you know what else they're taking out.
• 27:05
Speaker 3: It ties into other things.
• 27:06
Speaker 3: If you turn it off, you turn off a bunch of stuff.
• 27:09
Speaker 1: And to finish this up, the dreaded auto start stop feature.
• 27:12
Speaker 1: I was about to say that Gone.
• 27:14
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 27:15
  Speaker 1: It's gone.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: I was just about to say that Everyone hates it no longer going to be required by federal regulation.
• 27:21
Speaker 1: Got the story this week.
• 27:22
  Speaker 1: Thank you, god.
• 27:23
Speaker 1: What a horrible thing.
• 27:26
  Speaker 1: Here's the deal.
• 27:27
Speaker 1: It may save you, you know, an ounce of gas, but what about all of those people that are behind you waiting to get across the intersection, waiting for the car to start, for you to hit the accelerator pedal and get through the intersection, and the price of starters?
• 27:41
Speaker 3: Well, some of them it'll kick up and go immediately.
• 27:44
Speaker 3: Some of them, you're liable to hang your ass out.
