- 0:24SPEAKER_02: Welcome back, everybody, to Desert Valley Blitz Coach's Corner Edition.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: Today we have a real special guest.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: All you guys know him by the cowboy hat and the cowboy boots.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: Aaron Gasu of Goat Training.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Thank you for coming in, Coach.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Sure, appreciate it.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Appreciate y'all having me.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: How did you get started in this recruiting side of football?
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Man, it's a long journey.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Don't take us with the biggest.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: How did you get started in football and a few years?
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, tell us.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: I know that's a story.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Start when you started playing.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: Started playing football to begin with.
- 0:58SPEAKER_03: I was a young kid, and my dad came home and he had one of those mouthpieces, and he just was like, hey, go boil water.
- 1:04SPEAKER_04: It's a little kid.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: I was like, all right.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: So I went to go boil water.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: And then he came, and then he came, he brought me in the kitchen with the mouthpiece.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: He put it in the boiling water, took it out, was like, put it in your mouth.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: And I was like, all right.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: Put in my mouth, burned the mess out of my tongue, and uh molded that rubber mouthpiece, a blue mouthpiece to my to my teeth.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: And uh he was like, Do you like it?
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: And I was like, it's okay, yeah.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: He's like, Do you want to play football?
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Yeah, he's like, come with me.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: So we walked downstairs to the front yard, and uh he popped the trunk of our old car and he had football pads in there and a helmet and everything, and he was like, I signed you up for football today.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: When I was a little young, Kevin was like eight or nine, and then uh put everything on, and we were running drills in the front yard.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: Right away.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: And uh there was no negotiation if you wanted to play or not, right?
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: In the Polynesian culture, you play or you don't, regardless, you're gonna play.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: There's no arguing, you know.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: And so that's kind of how the journey started, and then went through, you know, the levels of progression of playing football, and then eventually ended up here in the desert and um learning the game and learning to love the game on a different level as far as becoming a coach.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: And um, then I started with the Little Arabs, the Coutella program, living in Cutella and wanting to build Coutella, and then with that for a few years, and then got more into development and realizing how important development is from the young age, because like if I would have had the development at a younger age, I feel like I could have done better.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: And a lot of kids that play in the the leagues on Saturdays and Sundays, you know, professionally through college, they started having the right development at a young age.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: And so we can't skip that.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: So that's what made me want to switch focus from coaching groups to small groups development to build the best athlete possible and then putting them out.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: And then that's kind of where we are now advocating for the athletes and building them up and developing them.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: So what what age though do you think is too young to start getting looked at?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Is there an age?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Is it too much?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: So I would say, so what I tell the parents that I work with and kids and everybody that asks me questions, I think as you go into football, you could play any level of football until you're about 10 or 11 years old.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: That's like where you're learning to love the game.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: You're building the love for the game, and that's where you decide, do I want to do this or not?
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: When you're 12 and 13, that's when you decide, am I really locked in?
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: Is this what I want to do for life?
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: If you if so, this is where you start to take things more seriously.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: This is where you start to miss birthday parties.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: This is where you start to get extra work, you know, with a developmental coach.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: So then by the time you hit freshman year, you're ready to suit up to play varsity.
- 3:51SPEAKER_03: It's not far-fetched anymore to play varsity as a freshman.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: It used to be unheard of.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: It used to be unheard of.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: You never did.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: You always went to freshman ball or maybe JV.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Um if you were that guy, you played JV.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: And then if your team made playoffs, they let you suit up, you know, for varsity in the playoffs, but you never played.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: Um, but nowadays, with the way that athletes are developed, it's not far-fetched to start.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, I have a handful of athletes that I work with that start and were impact makers on varsity immediately as a freshman.
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_03: Um it's possible.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: You gotta start early, though.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: Like, you have to start early.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: So I would say anything from 10 and under is just about finding the love.
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: Let's run around a little bit.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: And just learning what position you're good at.
- 4:33SPEAKER_03: What position did God bless you with?
- 4:35SPEAKER_03: You're because I wasn't born to be a running back.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: You look at my size, you see me, you don't think running back, you know?
- 4:41SPEAKER_03: And so you find out where you fit in the game and like how much do you love the game.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: And then as you get into that 12, 13, and 14, that's when you decide how serious you're gonna take it.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: And then that's when you dial in.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: And your track record kind of speaks for itself.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: I mean, we'll kind of go over some of the names that you've already worked with and already kind of gotten to the next level.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: But the thing I'm kind of discovering with this like recruiting and starting to look at college for some of these players, all that game is connections, right?
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: You gotta have the proper connections, the proper coaches, and then you also have to know who's a fit where and who's gonna fit in here.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: So, where are some of your connections coming from?
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: I know you you played at a high level, so you want to speak to where your connections kind of came from.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: Honestly, the the main, I don't know, it's far-fetched, but the main connection, to be honest, is being Polynesian, is being Shamun.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: Um as a Polynesian, you have other guys that have come before you that are in the game before you, right.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Um, at a different level, from NFL to college to high school, and they are there and they've built the game.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: They've been in there for 25 plus years.
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: And um, when they see somebody like them that is younger, they're gonna do what they can to help those.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: You know, shout out to Chris Talamayval.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: He runs Giant Skills, which is one of the biggest, or if not the biggest, linemen program um in the nation.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: They travel, they've been doing this for years.
- 6:06SPEAKER_03: Majority of the guys that are in the NFL Polynesian have come through their program.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: Um, he's like an uncle to me, and he's the one that kind of helped me put me on game.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: And uh, we had a good you know conversation about me wanting to start this program as far as RCV, but also Go.
- 6:23SPEAKER_03: And that was just with with him, with the help from you know, Chris and the help of my wife.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: That's kind of where we molded things and created our vision of putting athletes in the best position possible to find success.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: Whatever that means for them.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: So with the college, man, we have friendships and connections from USC down to Texas, down to all of California, all of California, Sacramento, Cal, um, and Idaho State, Idaho, Boise, Utah, Utah Tech, Utah State, UYU, and we got we got people wherever.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: It's just the phone calls, just let them know, hey, I got a guy that I think you should take a look at and let them do what they gotta do.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: And if uh they fit the mold that they're looking for, then that's home.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: Um like what you said just a minute ago about every kid, you know, finding a home that's that's true.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: Every college has has a mold in what they're looking for.
- 7:17SPEAKER_03: Um think about SEC schools, you know, having to be six five, six, six, six, eight, you know, to fit their mold.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: If not linemen to be to be I work on a lineman.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't really mess with a lot of the positions, you know.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: Skinny guy, you know.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: We're working on it.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: I'll I'll get to them.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: But my first love is gonna be the lineman, so I'm gonna deal with the trenches first.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna make sure the trenches are taken care of.
- 7:38SPEAKER_03: Um, but like that's their mold.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: They're looking for guys that are that size.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: But then you have the flip.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: You can go to you know, Sacramento State, you can go to Fresno, you can go to Utah's Tech, Utah Utah State, and you don't have to be 6'6, you don't have to be 6'8.
- 7:51SPEAKER_03: You know, you could be 6'2, 6'3, and play there.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: And then they have smaller schools below that.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: You know, you can go to Snow, you can go to, you know, some smaller schools and and play there because they they they don't really require the height.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: And so there's just about finding the right mold.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Um and recently we talked with a couple kids about going on your official visits and seeing what feels like home.
- 8:13unknown: Right.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: Don't don't don't go chasing the logo because the logo's not always going to be there for you.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like what can the program offer you?
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: What does the logo offer you?
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: It's very different than how you feel at every at every program.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: You know, I had a kid who who decided on certain schools because that's where he felt at home compared to wanting the best, you know, position possible.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: And it's it's more important to find the right home and the right fit for you than it is to chase the right logo.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: Is there anything that's like uh overlooked when people are considering schools like parents?
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: Is there um I would say you can't always go off of what the recruiters and the coaches are gonna tell you.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: Um because realistically they're I don't want this to sound wrong, but they're like car sellers.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they want to sell to sell their school.
- 9:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're looking for the best kids possible.
- 9:06SPEAKER_03: So they're gonna tell you as an athlete and they're gonna tell you as a parent everything you want to hear.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: And so what I mean by finding the way and feeling at home is interacting with other staff, interacting with other players, interacting with you know the community in that area and how they treat you and how they interact with you.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: Because they're gonna put on their best show because they want you to be there.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: But when they're away and the cameras are turned off, like how do you feel?
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: How do they cater to you?
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: And like, do you feel home?
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: Do you feel comfortable?
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Then that's more than likely where you want to go compared to once the cameras turn off and then they walk away and that's it, then you and your parents are standing in the middle of a weight room.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: Like, now what?
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, and you can feel that difference.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: So what what's the process though between first contact and and signing day?
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Is there walk us through what happens first?
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: Um, obviously the first, the most important thing is the initial contact and the initial, you know, conversation.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: And then I would say after that is follow-up is just as important.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: Um, because sometimes coaches have a lot on their plate.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: You know, especially if you meet them at a camp or you meet them at some kind of showcase or clinic, they they've already talked to 100 plus athletes.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: And then after that, they talk to their coach, friends that they haven't seen in a while.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: Then they go home to their, you know, their hotel or to wherever, and they gotta answer emails, they gotta answer phone calls, then they talk to their personal family.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: And then by then, they forgot about the 20-second conversation that you had with them earlier in that day.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: So it's very important, you know, I talk with the athletes the next day, two days later, like give them time to decompress, reach out to the coach and like send them the picture that you two took together.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: And be like, hey, you know, so-and-so, it was nice to meet you.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: You know, I appreciate you taking the time to conversate with me.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: Here's my film again.
- 10:49SPEAKER_03: Here's some things, like please let me know what you think I could work on or what you like or whatever the case is, and continue that dialogue.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: And then continue, and if the coach is really truly interested in you, they will create that personal dialogue.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: They'll start asking you about different things and they'll work, you know, regular conversation into business conversation.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: And then if they don't have that, then they're not actively recruiting you.
- 11:13SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 11:13SPEAKER_03: That's one of the things differences.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: And like a lot of kids think that coaches are recruiting them or whatever, because like, yo, you got followed by certain coaches or certain things.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: It doesn't necessarily mean you're being recruited.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: That just means you're on their board.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: So if you ever go to colleges and they have their boards up and they have names written down or what schools they go to, that means like they're looking at you and they're just waiting for you to give them a reason to take you off.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: Um, with the way that NIL has come in into play, um, there's money involved, it's become a business, and so you have to think of it as a vending machine.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Like there's you, and then there's 40 kids behind you in the same position who are the same height, same weight, same stats, just as you.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: They're the best kid at their high school, just like you.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: And so if you make any mistake, whether it be social media, whether it be uh grades, GPA, whether it be acting dumb on the field on the sideline, there's no reason for them to fight for you because there's another kid just like you behind you.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: So they just press the next button on the vending machine, you fall down, the next one comes in, they just take your name off the board and they pick somebody else up on the board.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's happened.
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: I personally have watched it happen literally last month.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: We had a kid who really wanted to go.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: I don't want to out the school, I don't know if you want to edit this out, but they wanted to go to San Diego State.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: And um San Diego State was like, nah, we're cool, we're cool, we got what we need.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: And that kid flipped his commitment and he decommitted from San Diego State and he took another school.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: And um San Diego, he went to go into um US UCLA.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: And so San Diego State reached out to me and reached out to this kid and was like, hey, we want this kid now.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: And the kid was like, uh, he called me, he was like, What do you think about it?
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: And I was like, you tell me what your first thoughts are.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: He's like, I don't want to be nobody's second choice.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: I want them to want me.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: And I was like, okay, tell them that.
- 13:08SPEAKER_03: And he was like, Are you sure?
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: And I was like, No, you'd be honest.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Like, they were honest with you.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: They told you they didn't want you, they had what they needed.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: Now that's what they needed, didn't want them anymore.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: So now they want you.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: Like, it doesn't work that way.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Like, you they need to make sure that you're their priority.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: And if that's the case, then like who's to say you get to the field, you know, for practice for fall camp, and they're like, put you on the side because you're the last case scenario, you know?
- 13:31SPEAKER_03: And so, like, you have to go where you're wanted.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, that quote from you know, for the 50 Cent from Curtis Jackson, he said, go where you're celebrated, not tolerated.
- 13:41SPEAKER_03: And that's you know, that's a good quote to live by.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: So to answer your question originally, if the coaches are actively recruiting you, they will be actively reaching out to you as an individual.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: Uh they won't go the long way and talk to the coaches to talk to your parents, to talk to you.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: They will come to you directly through social media or through your phone number.
- 14:04SPEAKER_03: So that's a good way to tell if you're being actively recruited by any college.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: Good little nuggets there of advice, people.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: If you act if you think you're getting recruited, you better talk to Coach Gossu over here.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a lot of people have never been recruited.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: So you're it's a business.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: You hear about it, but you don't know the process.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: No, this is this is this is free game right here.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: There's three main ways that you can get recruited.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: Um, whether they're right or wrong, I don't make the rules, but there's three ways.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Number one, payment.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: You pay the right people, you know there's a right friendship or whatever connection.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: You pay them, you know, a couple thousand dollars, they'll give you an offer.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: Whether the offer holds any weight, further on down the road.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: If it gets somebody better, if you can't play, does that offer standards?
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: So sometimes that happens to where you banked your whole life on that payment offer, and when it comes down to the road, you don't play better than that kid, they're gonna take that kid, and you're gonna they're just gonna tell you, oh, we didn't, so we don't see what we thought we saw.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: And that's it.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: And sometimes you lose that offer.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: And that money's gone, too.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: No money's gone.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: No money back.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: So uh it's unfortunate, but a lot of the times it's used as a baiting offer.
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna say that if you pay, you know, certain school, certain friend to throw you an offer, and let's say it's you know, Mount West offer or uh, you know, a Mac offer or whatever it's, you know, a smaller, you know, conference offer, schools within that conference are gonna say, well, if that school thought it was good enough, if he was good enough for an offer, why are we not?
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: You know, we're in the same conference.
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: So then they're gonna come to you and then they might throw you a real offer.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: So then that baited you into getting real offers.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: When there is a strategy there, there's a strategy to it, but sometimes it doesn't work out.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Sometimes it doesn't pay off.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: But that's that's the first way.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: The second way is you're just certified, like you are who you say you are, and you get naturally noticed by being at the right camps, being at the right competitions, showcases, and events like that to where they naturally organically find you and see you and want you.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: And then the third way is through connections, and that's kind of where we're coming through, right?
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Is through connections, is where we have direct contact to multiple coaches at multiple levels from the SEC to junior college and everything in between.
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: And that's where like you come and take this readiness test, and we tell you where we determine where you fit in the mold, and then we reach out to those schools.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: So we don't waste your time, we don't waste my time, I don't waste coaches' time.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: Because I have a strict formula that you have to follow.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: And if you do those things, you will get these results.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: And like if you don't do these things, then I don't waste my time reaching out to certain people because, excuse me, you don't have the grades, why would I waste my time reaching out to a school who has a 2.8 uh requirement?
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: So if I know you don't reach 2.8, I'm not gonna call that coach, no matter how good you are.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: Because at the end of the day, there's some lady, some guy behind the computer screen, you know, fact-checking your GPA, fact-checking your transcripts.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: And you could be a five-star athlete.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: If you don't have that, you don't play.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: And so I'm not gonna waste my time, I'm not gonna waste yours, nor your parents' time, money to do this if you're not doing what's required.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: Have you had again?
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: Have you had to say no to some people?
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Tons.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: Um, it all started because I helped one athlete.
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm not gonna say any names out here.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: After when we're off for it, I'll tell you.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: But I had one athlete that we did a lot of work for.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: And um, as soon as things were going good, they hit me back up randomly, and I thought they were calling to say we we finalized you another offer, it's coming in, but they called to say that have you checked his GPA?
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: And I was like, no, I assume that as the coaches sent it to me, that it was good, but he had a 1.9.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: Like, well, can't do much with that, right?
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: There's not much I can argue, so you're gonna have to go, you're gonna have to go the other route.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: You're gonna have to go the long way.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: But that's that's that was on the coaches, you know.
- 18:04SPEAKER_03: For I put I put that on the coaches more than I put that on the kid because the coaches were fighting for the kid to bring him to get help, and I did what I needed to do, and I just assumed that the coach is doing their due diligence um to check the grades before they brought them.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: So when they came to me, I just assumed that everything was good.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: So with the when that happened, uh you knew automatically from now on, when you come to my program, these are the things that I check before we even start.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: And if you meet the standards and you meet the requirements that I have, then we'll move on.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: That's my so you're not wasting anybody's time or money on that.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: So I hate I hate wasting time.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: Time is very valuable.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, I have my own things going on.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: I have my own two kids and my wife at home.
- 18:47SPEAKER_03: So, like being away from them, it it costs time.
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: And time's one of those things that you can't get back.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: And so I'm not gonna waste my time on doing things if you're not doing your part.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: Just like you guys are busy.
- 18:58SPEAKER_03: I don't want to waste your time.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: Parents are busy, right?
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: I don't want to waste their time, money, you know.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: You have to do a lot of work to get some money.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: I'm not wasting nobody's time or money if the athlete doesn't want it as bad as they say they do.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: And taking it back a little bit, um, when I first heard about you, it was the GOAT training.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: And you you've kind of been the dude that's really helped a lot of these big guys get the shine and get the offers.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Um kind of speak to what originally what you were doing with GOAT and how you were like, you know, coming down here and kind of evaluating what was needed with that with that service.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: So we I still I say we, but I still do run the GOAT program um that still operates, you know, as normal.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: We do private training, group training, and stuff like that.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: Um obviously right now we're taking a break because it's football.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, season.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: So everybody's gonna be going to their school programs instead of my program, um, which is what we look forward to.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: Because the kids that worked out and the kids that trained with me throughout the you know, the off season, they they got better.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: Physically, mentally, spiritually, they they leveled up.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: So as they go to their program, they become the new bar, the new standard.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: You know, the standard bar was here when they left.
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: But when they go to their new program, they raise the standard and they become the standard.
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: And so they're plug and play.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: Any program they go to, they become the best player on the team and they force the team to build, to grow, to be on their level.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: And can you I know we don't want to mention any names, but I mean, can you speak to some of your success stories?
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: I know who they are, but you have had a lot.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Goats had a lot of success stories in the last couple years of guys that you know maybe nobody had heard of until you started working with them.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: And then boom, they have a couple offers, and people are like, Well, who are these guys, you know?
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna speak to some of that success.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, the one that's going around right now, um, you know, we'll say his name.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: I'll tell his name.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: You know, it is what it is.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: You know, we we have a good relationship.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Uh, me and me and Jacob, Jacob Van.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Um good kid, man.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: Great kid.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: That's my guy.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: Big shout out to my guy.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: Jacob Van and the ex out there.
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's my guy, man.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: Um so I I met Jacob two months ago.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: I met him at the uh the Coachella Showcase, that event that we hosted.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Um I met him there and I saw him competing and stretching.
- 21:10SPEAKER_03: Actually, not even say competing first.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: I saw him in the stretch line.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: And warming up.
- 21:14SPEAKER_03: You're like, hey.
- 21:14SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Big dude, man.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: He sticks out.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: Where's that kid been?
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: So I walked over to him and I was like, what's your name?
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: Talk to him.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: And the first thing I noticed was he had a pair of the Adidas um Polynesian bowl that's in Hawaii, pleats on.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: And I was like, those are only given out, I know, those are only given out to the athletes who participate and play in those kind of events.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: And he had a pair on.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: So that was the first thing that stuck out.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: Then I saw his physical size and I was like, I gotta go talk to that kid.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: So then I went up to Jacob and talked to him.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: And then uh we went through the camp and I saw how he worked and I and I liked the way that he worked.
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: He has a solid work ethic, he's strong, um, you know, physically and but also mentally.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: You know, I don't know if you know his story, but he's been through a lot um injuries and different things like that.
- 21:59SPEAKER_03: And Been having to sit out for you know certain parts of the season.
- 22:02SPEAKER_03: Um so mentally he's he's a strong kid.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: And um when the camp was over, I told him I was like, we need to be locked in.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: You know, you need to tap in with me, text me, let's let's start this, you know, dialogue and let's see what we can do.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: And um afterwards we we talked a little bit and as camp season approached, I was like, all right, let's talk.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: What are your what are your goals?
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: And he wanted to play college football.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: And um, I said, all right, give me your your dream schools, but let's be realistic.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: Like, let's not be far-fetched.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm not saying it's not good to dream and have hopes, yeah, but like if you're gonna be realistic and wanted to play on Saturdays, you need to be realistic with yourself.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: So I was like, let's be realistic, give me a list of schools.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: Where would you want to see yourself?
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: And um, he had some schools on there and he he named a couple that I knew personally.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: I had no people at those schools, and so, you know, in my head I was like, all right, we're good.
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: Right, we can work with this.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: And so we went and um took him on a little tour.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: We went to uh UNLV um to a camp out there that was hosted, and we had 20, 30, I don't know, maybe 40, um, college coaches there on site, and he was there in front of them, went face to face with a lot of the coaches, like to meet them, a lot of talk to them, and then went to San Diego, and it was the same thing at San Diego State.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: He competed and worked with coaches there.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: And um one of my good friends, you know, is down there at uh down there's up there at Sacramento State, and they were like, it's gonna happen today.
- 23:30SPEAKER_03: He just has to win a rep.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: He just has to win a live rep.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: And so the defensive coordinator came over there to where he was at, and um Jacob did what Jacob needed to do, what Jacob always does, and he's gonna compete, and he won his two reps, you know, back to back.
- 23:47SPEAKER_03: So when that was over, the defensive coordinator pulled him to the side and and you know gave him the offer.
- 23:52SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 23:52SPEAKER_03: The official losses.
- 23:54SPEAKER_03: And then from there, it kind of just went, and more coaches were really able to see, you know, the caliber of athlete that Jacob is, and so that's when you know New Mexico would come through, you know, Idaho State had come through, and different schools had come through.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: And then um he went to the Redlands camp, and uh one of my guys, um, shout out to Manaya, he was over there at uh the Fresno.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: I mean he's from Fresno, he was at Fresno State, but he was down there at the Redlands camp and he, you know, they saw them and he he did his job.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: Jacob did what Jacob needed to do.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: He won his reps, he did good on the the on the drills, and just got the text message that they were gonna throw them the offer.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Had to wait a couple days until the head coach was available because the head coach, you know, was the one that was gonna take care of it.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: Um, it wasn't gonna come from the position coach, it wasn't gonna come from nobody else.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: The official like a referee whistle.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: So we were we were hanging out, had a little pool party, and I just told him stay by your phone.
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: I stay with your phone tomorrow.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: Tomorrow's Monday.
- 24:55SPEAKER_03: And uh Monday came and he he he just texted me the next day and was like, you know, they they threw me the offer.
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 25:02SPEAKER_03: Literally, like five minutes later, you know, I talked to my you know, my coach that's over there, and um he was like, we threw him the offer, this, this, and this, and we conversated, and he was like, That's one of those kids that's you know, like, where has he been?
- 25:16SPEAKER_03: And I told him, and I told all the other colleges, like, dude, you think about that kid?
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: Like, not to downplay, you know, Jacob, but about 40 of them out here.
- 25:24SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: We have a lot of talented athletes.
- 25:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we do, you know, different positions.
- 25:28SPEAKER_03: As far as edge rushers and stuff like that, he might be the best one out here.
- 25:31SPEAKER_03: But, you know, we have interior linemen, we have offensive linemen, we got quarterbacks, we got running backs, we got a lot of certified and steppers out here, a lot of good talent out here that a lot of people don't know of.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: And so that's kind of where this recruit Coachella Valley came into place was I saw the need for linemen training, and we created Go to help develop and build and get linemen and develop them and prepare them.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: And then this started because we looking to upgrade your home.

- 26:51SPEAKER_03: Saw the need for recruiting.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: You know, those four or five kids you can think of in the last four years that have left and went to big programs and are now playing, you know, big division one ball, you know?
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: But they started here, but now they're there.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: Um, and no respect, no disrespect, not knocking the hustle.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: You gotta do what you gotta do to provide, you know, to put yourself in the best position possible for success.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: That's my motto.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: If you ever noticed, like that's what I say, that's what I do.
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: Um, and so to kind of help with that, recruit Coachella Valley is to create that direct pipeline from different colleges here.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: Get those colleges down here um to watch and to evaluate our kids and to give the kids the looks that they need and that they deserve.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of certified steppers out here, man.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: Um, and I mean, I just took 10 kids from here to different colleges and like, you know, shout out Tana at Weaver State.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: Like, there's a lot of guys out there that that love our kids, but they're like, I have no clue.
- 27:52SPEAKER_03: Like, where were they?
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: Who's this kid?
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like we're in an under-recruited area, you know.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: Like it's it's unfortunate because we're so far away, but like after they get to uh, you know, to Baumont, like they don't want to come to the desert, especially in the summer, man.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: It's because it's already, they're already an hour removed from the IE from from Orange County from LA.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: So it's like, man, you tell me I gotta drive another hour into the desert, right?
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: Like, ah, we'll just stop here.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: And then the only way is like we'd have to do camps otherwise.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: We'd have to leave the valley to go do camps.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: So then we figured like, why not bring camps and showcases, bring events here?
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: Why not bring colleges here?
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: Why not bring everything here?
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: And then take away the excuse of, oh, it costs money to drive out, it costs money to this, get a hotel, get a flight.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: Chile, homie, cut all that off.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: Let's put it here in your backyard.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: Now, if you say you want it as bad as you say you do, you'll be there.
- 28:47SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: And if you don't, you don't love the game like you say you do.
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:51SPEAKER_03: That's what it is.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: They're doing the hell it is.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: If they're doing their job as a recruiter, they're gonna turn over every stone, right?
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: So we just gotta provide the platform which you're doing.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: And you've mentioned a couple guys that had to leave the valley to go get those big, you know, that guy from USC who had to go to, he had to transfer high schools.
- 29:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: You're kind of you're kind of trying to set the mold where they don't have to leave.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: They could just stay here and people know who they are, right?
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, I don't want to like sound crazy, but like we've proved that.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: We just proved it with Jacob.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: Jacob is a natural talent who's from here.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: And you know, he had overcome a lot through injuries and whatnot, but he still got a division one offer.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: Didn't have to go.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: You know, he's still getting his money, he's still getting his opportunity to play on a Saturday at college, and he didn't have to go anywhere.
- 29:36SPEAKER_03: He stayed right here at Xavier Prep.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: It's possible.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: And we just proved it right now.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: And so the biggest thing to look forward to is with RCV.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: It's like we're gonna prove it many more times right now.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: Like, there's a lot of kids.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we got guys out here on our radar that that we're gonna push and we're gonna get them in the same situation.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: Now, obviously, this is up to the kid, it's up to the athlete to be prepared.
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: Jacob was prepared for the situation.
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: When the situation was placed before him, Jacob was ready.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: Jacob had been training, Jacob had been working out, had been taking care of the things that needed to be taken care of in the classroom, on the field, you know, out in the community.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: Like he'd been there.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: He'd been doing those things.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: And so when the opportunity was placed before him, he was able to take care of it.
- 30:20SPEAKER_03: And that's what ultimately helped him out.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: And so for the athletes that are listening and watching, this is your opportunity to be prepared, be ready.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: Like we will only do so much.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: We can only do so much.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: You know, the rest of that falls on that the weight, the shoulders of the athlete.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: You're gonna give them the playbook.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: You're gonna give them the connections.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: I'll lead you to the water.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: That's what they say, right?
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: That's what they say.
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: That's I mean, only do so much, right?
- 30:47SPEAKER_02: It is their scholarship that they're trying to obtain.
- 30:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: Um, so recruit CV, man.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: Where where are you going next with this?
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Because you've already kind of proven the concept with Van.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: Um, there's I know you have other guys in the pipeline that are already kind of being spoken about.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: That's the Kevin.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's another one.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: Kevin playing on Saturdays.
- 31:07SPEAKER_03: Kevin Kevin will be playing on Sundays too.
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:16SPEAKER_03: He has that.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: Jacob has that.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: It's not very often that you run into kids that you see that can flip the switch as easy as them two.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: Like Kevin, he'll he'll he'll be there.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: He's obviously he's a little young right now.
- 31:29SPEAKER_03: Um, but as he develops and he grows into the game, he'll be he'll be a force to be reckoned with.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: But no, we we took that little a small opening tour to just let people know that we're up to something.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: We took him to UNLV and then down, you know, and came back to San Diego State.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: But next year, recruiting season, we're starting, we're going heavy with the Utah tour.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: A lot of connections within the colleges up there.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna fly in, we're gonna hit up Utah State, we're gonna hit up um Weber, we're gonna hit up BYU, Utah, Utah Tech, Southern Utah, um, Southern Utah University, and then hit that whole state and just hit up, you know, the colleges up there and take them through the the the gauntlet.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: Like be happy to now and then to be prepared.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: And like if you do the right things and you show me that you can do the right things, then I'll do my part and put you in front of people that are gonna take care of you.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: And then we'll probably we're still working on the planning.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: This is still a uh a planning thing, but we're working on either doing um, you know, maybe like a Texas tour, a Southern tour, or doing the California tour.
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: Okay and going up to SAC SAC State, um, hitting Cal, hitting Stanford, and then hitting you know hitting some of the smaller schools as well that is kind of up there by the bay.
- 32:45SPEAKER_03: Uh uh San Mateo, you know, the junior colleges, and then coming down and then hitting the three down here with USC, UCLA, and San Diego State.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Um, we took a group also um of middle school and high school kids to UCLA this last offseason to go watch some of their practice and take a tour with the facility.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: Shout off uh, you know, junior JR.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: Um appreciate you hooking that up, taking care of our boys.
- 33:12SPEAKER_03: Um But yeah, we have a lot of stuff planned.
- 33:15SPEAKER_03: Um we're just trying to decide what makes the most sense for for as many kids as we are gonna bring on.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: And it's good for the kids to get out of the valley and see the next level, right?
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: Because I mean, you may be the big dog in a little little pond down here, man, but you go out over those hills and there's a lot more to contend with.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: So I think just exposure overall is great.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: 100%, right?
- 33:35SPEAKER_03: And I think exposure is one of the biggest things, but I think also seeing a college facility, a program, puts a different motivation within your heart.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: It shows you that it's possible, like those kids are just like you because when you go into the colleges, um the locker rooms, they'll have the picture of the athlete and they'll have their nameplate and it'll say where they're from.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: And so, like a lot of these kids will see like, you know, uh Orange, you know, like Orange County, or they'll see like small towns, they'll be like, where's that?
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: And they'll look it up.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: I'm like, this kid came from a small town, and now he's at USC, or he's now at UFC LA or or Utah or whatever.
- 34:13SPEAKER_03: And it's like they're coming from the same situations as you.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: The only difference is they outwork the guy next to them.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: And so you can be there just as much as them, but you have to do what's required and then more.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: And if you're not willing to do the add more part, then that's that's the end of your journey.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: When you walk the stage at high school, that's the end.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: If you're not willing to do the add more part, yeah.
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what the kids don't understand.
- 34:38SPEAKER_02: That's a business up there, man.
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm just gonna do it.
- 34:40SPEAKER_02: You gotta, you everybody got talent.
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: You gotta separate yourself mentally, work, ethic, all that stuff.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: But I'm really excited, man.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: I think you know, your kind of service is definitely needed to kind of if it fits the ethos of our show, because our show was just formed on me and him talking about how you know our kids out here ain't getting no love, and we got players out here.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: We do.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: So we play football.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we play, yeah, we've been playing good football out here.
- 35:03SPEAKER_02: We've had some legendary coaches come through here as well.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: So 100%.
- 35:06SPEAKER_02: You know, it's just a matter of everybody over there, just don't nobody knows about it.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: So that's what you're doing, man.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: I'm so happy that somebody stepped up and did.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: You know what you wish this guy was around with.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: I was just thinking about it.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: I'm like, man, what did I do?
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: I was like, yeah, well, they didn't get nothing that was any good.
- 35:24SPEAKER_02: So I mean, this is this is a great thing.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: That's what we're coming to, man.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: So we're just being an advocate for the athlete.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: That's what's what they need, that's what they deserve.
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 35:34SPEAKER_03: Like athletes, if you think about it, high school athletes, we're not even gonna say football players, because eventually the goal, this is insider information.
- 35:42SPEAKER_03: But the goal is right here.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: The goal is to create this program to be for all sports.
- 35:48SPEAKER_03: Uh because like this is this is I don't know if this is selfish, but the main reason behind a lot of this was I have my own kids.
- 35:56SPEAKER_03: So I want to create this platform and I want to create this avenue so when my kids are old enough to be in sports, like it's guaranteed I don't have to pay for college for them.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna set all this up, I'm laying the groundwork for you.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: So by the time you're old enough to get into it, it's gonna take care of you.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so the ultimate goal is to have this GOAT program oversee multiple sports.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: Let GOAT run the football program, let somebody run the football program.
- 36:26SPEAKER_03: You know, we're gonna eventually move into, or we already started girls flag football with the I'm her league.
- 36:32SPEAKER_03: Okay, like building I'm her, building girls' platform for girls flag football.
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: And then, you know, we'll get into volleyball, we'll get into things like that, because we have a lot of athletes in all levels, you know, in all sports.
- 36:44SPEAKER_03: And somebody has to step up and give them the platform and give them the the avenue to find success in college and let their college be free.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: There's a there's a lot of scholarships out there, and a lot of it gets left on the table, and a lot of it gets um, you know, given to other kids.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: I'm not saying that are more deserving or less deserving, but we have a lot of athletes out here, and our biggest thing is misinformation or lack of information.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they didn't have a chance.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: They don't have a chance if you don't know those things.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: And so with recruit Coachella Valley and with Go, our goal is to create that for all sports.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: Obviously, right now we're focusing on football because you have to learn to crawl before you can walk, before you can spring.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: So right now we're crawling.
- 37:30SPEAKER_03: Right now we're pouring concrete, we're building a foundation, a sure foundation through football and through our brand and through our name, um, you know, with real real connections and real results.
- 37:41SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, man.
- 37:42SPEAKER_03: And so as time goes on, eventually we'll build to multiple sports to take care of multiple athletes.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: That's awesome, man.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's crazy.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: You just met Jacob like two months ago.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: That's an amazing story, bro.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: That when I heard that story, I was like, this guy, this guy's a musician, musician, man.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: He's uh he's making magic out here.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of other kids, um, but Jacobs was just it hits closer to home because he, I don't know how much he shared of you with you, and I don't know, I might have to talk to him before this airs, but he he was feeling you know depressed and having you know feelings because other kids had offers that he felt he was better than.
- 38:22SPEAKER_03: I think other people feel that way too.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so it was hard, and he was feeling discouraged and like, why do I keep playing if nothing's happening?
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Well, this is the thing, bro.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: You're you're hanging out, you're talking to the wrong people.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: Like you have what it takes, but just it's unfortunate you are where you are, and it's harder to get the views.
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: It's hard.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: We thought about it off air before it started, it's all about views.
- 38:43SPEAKER_03: It's all about who you know, like that's that's what it is.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: It's it's the sad world, reality of the world now, but it's based off of views, connections, and stuff like that.
- 38:52SPEAKER_03: And so with working with Jacob, like realizing who he is as a young man outside of a football player, right?
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: And like nobody deserves it more than him.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: Like his story, like his injuries, having to sit out, and like, you know, like you you deserve it.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: Not only on that, but just how hard you work.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this dude is working out and then going to football, and then going to go stretch and do other things to take care of his body, like you know, two, three times a day to make sure that he's ready for the game.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: And like, dude, not a lot of people, not a lot of athletes to do that.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: And so it was my job and my responsibility to make sure that he gets what he deserves.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: It was almost like the universe aligned and saw you saw him at the showcase.
- 39:33SPEAKER_02: And that's another point to the other athletes out there.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Go to these showcases, right?
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: You got coaches like Coach Gossi walking around looking for guys like that that have been overlooked, underappreciated.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: You know, and shout out to Coach Johnson, man, for throwing that showcase.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, we need more participation in that, and we need more of them, I think, just in the Valley in general, because we're gonna there's a lot of guys out here that nobody knows about.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: This is this is also inside of insider trading.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: We're also gonna have another uh showcase.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: It's just gonna be it's gonna be an RCV showcase.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: And it's just gonna be strictly linemen.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: First, the first one's gonna be strictly linemen.
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: Let's do it.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: It's just gonna be all offensive, defensive linemen.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm gonna bring some of the colleges down here, you know, junior college up to division one colleges, you know.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: I already put them on notice, let them know that it's happening.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: And so we're just getting the date finalized, and then we'll come up with the the flyers and the information.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: But we'll look for that.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: We have that coming.
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, shout out to my my partner, uh, Mike, Michael Waters, he's out of in Vegas.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 40:39SPEAKER_03: Um, and so he's the one that kind of helped start this, put me on those.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: He runs phase one recruiting.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: This is a big, you know, big recruiting event.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: And um, we he's the one that ran the uh the UNLV showcase at the college.
- 40:54SPEAKER_03: And so basically, he's the one that brought in those 40 coaches and those college coaches and did the whole camp.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: So basically, we're going to bring that whole style of camp down here colleges down here.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: Awesome, man.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: Um, specifically for the linemen.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: And uh, if we find success, then we'll venture on to adding more positions.
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: But obviously, we talked about it.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: My main focus is always gonna be the hogs, it's always gonna be the trenches.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: That's just what I know.
- 41:22SPEAKER_03: It's hard for me to coach a position that I don't know.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: So you imagine me out there teaching a wide out how to run a certain route of footwork.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: I teach that receiver a little kick step.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: You gotta block every single bit, too.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: So yeah, so that's uh that's a new training play when you look out for it.
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: When you uh shout out, when you get those dates locked in, we're gonna be there, man.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: So you let us know where we'll get at because we we really do we really do want to participate in community events like that, especially ones like the showcase.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, your testament alone, man, is why we do this out here, man.
- 41:56SPEAKER_02: Um I know off air, you kind of gave some game for kids on social media and how they should act for the if they do want to get recruited.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: Can you kind of share some of your uh philosophies on that for that?
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: Social media is huge.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: It will make you or break you as an athlete.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: A lot of kids don't understand that, but colleges, when they when your name comes across their board, they have people on staff now that specifically just go to social media.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: But they get young interns who are at colleges and they're like, hey, I want to be involved in the football program.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: What do I got to do?
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: Um, here's a list.
- 42:31SPEAKER_03: Go through their social media, let me know what you find.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: And so now they got young interns that just jump on social media, type your name in, look you up, and then they just take pictures and screenshot and print things out of what you post, what you do, and then they give it to the coach, and the coach makes the ultimate decision, like, well, I really don't like this, and then like it goes back to the vending machine.
- 42:54SPEAKER_03: You did you posted things that I don't like, take your name off the recruiting board, and then they go to the next kid.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Jesus.
- 43:00SPEAKER_03: And so I'm telling you, like now that money is involved, it's a business.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 43:05SPEAKER_03: So they're look now instead of searching for kids to recruit, now they're narrowing it down to what are you doing to stop me from recruiting you compared to like us actively going to your high school.
- 43:19SPEAKER_03: Because when we were in school, or you know, like they would come to your high schools and they would recruit.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: There's always a big deal.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: There's a recruiter in the stands.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: A recruiter would go to the stands and they would go with their little clipboard and they would highlight your name and your number and they would watch you.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: And then they would go to another high school, a second half, and so on and so forth.
- 43:37SPEAKER_03: Now it's there's too many athletes and too many schools to do that.
- 43:40SPEAKER_03: So now they just sit at the home and they sit in their office and they find reasons to stop recruiting you.
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: Because the list is too big now.
- 43:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:49SPEAKER_03: Again, so it's a lot easier to just be as a coach, being home, going X, look at profiles.
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: Uh I don't like the things this kid's doing, and they take his name off the list.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: And then they go on to the next kid.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: And then they go to the office and they report these are the kids we took off.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: These are the kids that we put on.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: And then that's your recruiting board.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: Then they start actively recruiting you.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: Then they look into your transcripts.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: Then they make the phone calls to your coaches about character witnessing to see who you are.
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: And then they make the contact to you, the contact to you directly as an athlete.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: So there's a lot of steps behind the scenes that the athletes don't see before the first contact.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: So that's why when kids think the coach hasn't contacted me yet, but we had we met in person, and you that means something you did or posted or liked or commented or shared on social media stopped it from happening.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: So they should be posting workouts, uh some highlights, some family debates.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: So you want to prove to the coach that you belong on their team.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: So you have to sell yourself.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: You think it was a business now?
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: It is a business.
- 44:53SPEAKER_03: You are now your walking business card.
- 44:55SPEAKER_03: You have to post workout pictures, workout videos that you're training, that you're getting developed, and that you're not.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: Not just one.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: And you could post family pictures that shows that you know that you love your family, you take care of your family, and then football pitch, anything football related, anything work related.
- 45:10SPEAKER_03: Um, and so when the colleges see that, they know that you mean business.
- 45:14SPEAKER_03: If you're over there posting pictures, you know, I've had kids that post pictures of them with a gun or with other things, and I'm like, bro, like you must not want to play football like you say you do because that's an immediate takeoff.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, board.
- 45:26SPEAKER_03: Don't even ask questions.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:27SPEAKER_03: No matter how good you are.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: No knuckle, knucklehead.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: No knucklehead activities.
- 45:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, man.
- 45:32SPEAKER_03: So yeah, social media, it it will make or break you.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: Um, just if you use it the right way.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: And so that's one important thing.
- 45:39SPEAKER_03: So free jam for our kids out there listening.
- 45:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, clinical media.
- 45:42SPEAKER_03: Free game.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: Free game right here, man.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: Half our audience is delete, man.
- 45:46SPEAKER_02: Delete, delete, delete.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Go to church, man.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: Take a picture of church.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: Do something, do something wholesome, do something nice for you.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: A lot of mom picks.
- 45:53SPEAKER_03: One of the other things that that colleges really love, this is kind of a hidden gem, a lot of people don't talk about, is if you're out there in the community, doing community service, helping out, you know, proving doing working with the churches or working with anybody.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: A lot of colleges love that because they're showing that like with your free time, but you're not working out, you're not doing this thing, you're not better in your career, you're helping other people.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: And that's a good quality to have in a locker room.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: That's that shows that you're gonna be a great leader.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: You're not selfish, yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: Not selfish, exactly.
- 46:25SPEAKER_03: And so those are things that they like to see.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: Not mandatory, no, but but definitely throws a couple points in your bag.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: It's even between you and another guy.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: If it's between you or another guy, then say, well, this guy does have a lot more qualities, service, you know, he helps out a lot.
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: Community guy.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sick care of this guy.
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's a free game right here, man.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: I'm telling you.
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: Only on DV, man.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: There's about a bit, man.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: We're getting all the good stuff.
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: Come on now.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: So, anybody listening right now, for you for somebody like a parent maybe listening, what age should they kind of maybe start thinking about contacting you?
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: Should is it how young do you think, like how young or old?
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: What's your age range that you're kind of looking at for athletes?
- 47:05SPEAKER_03: I would say if you think that your kid, I would this is the first step.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: First step is as a parent, before you contact me, is talk to your kid, talk to your athlete about where do they see themselves in this game.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: If they want to play in the future, then feel free to reach out to me at any time because I will obviously give advice to any age on things that you should and shouldn't be doing.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: Um, because I came up in in a time where you know where where money can kind of be hard.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't want parents wasting money on certain camps or certain events that are not gonna benefit them or their kid in the long run.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Obviously, if you just want to pay for the name to go do drills that you can do anywhere, like that's that's totally fine.
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: That's up to you as a parent and as as an athlete.
- 47:54SPEAKER_03: But if you want, you know, advice on where to spend your money on what camps to go to that are gonna make a an impact on your life and in your future and in your journey, then I I will help you with that.
- 48:06SPEAKER_03: And I have no problem doing that.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: That's it's it's the easy part.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: Valuable information.
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: I mean and then um with that, like I would say going into middle school, seventh grade, that's kind of when you should start getting more serious.
- 48:23SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 48:23SPEAKER_03: That's when you should start hitting up these gyms and these private trainings and these co-private coaches to to really perfect your craft.
- 48:31SPEAKER_03: Now, a lot of people say like, oh, that's a waste of money, that's this, this, and this.
- 48:35SPEAKER_03: But like if you think about it a team coach, you guys coach football.
- 48:41SPEAKER_03: So if you coach, it's hard for you to stop practice to work on one kid mistakes.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: It is a habitual mistake.
- 48:49SPEAKER_03: He can't get in the stance the right way, he can't this, he can't that.
- 48:52SPEAKER_03: So it's hard for you as a coach to stop all the practice, like I can say practice time is is key.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: So you have to stop practice and have 20 other kids get restless because you're focusing on one kid.
- 49:04SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 49:05SPEAKER_03: Then you lose focus of practice, then you have to row all the kids back in.
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: But you can mitigate that, you can cut all that out, sending those kids to people like me, people, you know, category five, or different programs that develop kids and they have time.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: And that extra.
- 49:23SPEAKER_03: You are the only person that they're worried about for that hour, and they're gonna change you, they're gonna develop you, they're gonna build you.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: So then when you go back to your team, your coach doesn't have to worry about teaching you how to stand.
- 49:33SPEAKER_03: Your coach can focus on scheme.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: There's high school coaches and youth coaches, middle school coaches, they focus on the scheme.
- 49:39SPEAKER_03: There's a lot to coach out there.
- 49:40SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 49:40SPEAKER_03: There's a lot to coach.
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: They don't have time to coach development and and and you know, skill set.
- 49:45SPEAKER_03: And so that's where developmental coaches come in.
- 49:48SPEAKER_03: So that's if you're gonna be serious, you're gonna be seventh and eighth grade, you need to be in a development coach that whole time.
- 49:55SPEAKER_03: No wasting time working on the fundamentals.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because high school's changed.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: Uh because my son recently enrolled in high school, and practices are not like I remember when I was coaching, we took the freshman and we did fundamentals the whole first week, you know, like how to line up, how to get in a stance.
- 50:11SPEAKER_02: They're they're they're like, hey, these kids are already ready to go, man.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: We're going into scheme, we're going into X and O's.
- 50:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then implementations of plays.
- 50:18SPEAKER_02: And it's like, if you haven't done that, I was thinking, man, what if one of these kids comes out and never played before?
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: It's like you're already behind the A ball.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: No, you're already way behind, man.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: So it's it's it's change, man.
- 50:28SPEAKER_02: It's a totally different arms race of it.
- 50:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it's totally different, man.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: It's totally different.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, this is some good information for all your parents out there as well.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: You know, this is how this is where it's going.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: We don't make the rules, we just live by them, right?
- 50:40SPEAKER_03: That's that's the thing, and that's kind of where this RCV came in, is just information.
- 50:45SPEAKER_03: The lack of information is what stops a lot of people from getting recruited.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: Like a lot of people don't know about high schools, like you play varsity year as a freshman.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: You play in varsity as a freshman.
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: A lot of people think we still think that you can't do that.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: And like the holdback thing, like that, that's a that's affected now by just the new changes in the rules just changed.
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Now people are reconstructing.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: So having somebody who has a foot in both sides of the fence is is very beneficial.
- 51:13SPEAKER_03: Like we understand and we learn the new things from colleges, what they're looking for, and so on and so forth.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: And then we have the high schools and the youth programs, you know, that we can come together and figure out where kids fit and how kids can get the right information from both sides.
- 51:29SPEAKER_03: And like basically just having an advocate to help build and man, I'm so glad you're here.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: I was thinking the same thing.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we need someone to do this.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: It's uh it's awesome, man.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, so you you're the reason we want to talk, we wanted to talk to you is because you kind of fall into our same philosophy of, you know, let's let's build this valley together because the talent's here.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: It's just little tweaks that we need to make to turn it into like a place where people can get scholarships and don't think they have to transfer.
- 51:58SPEAKER_02: And there's there's certain in your service is gonna be another stepping stone to that.
- 52:02SPEAKER_02: So we're real excited.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: Where's the best place?
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: So parents or players kind of listening to this, thinking, okay, I'm the the players committed to doing this and they're serious about what you know, trying to get to that next level.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: How do they reach where's the best place to reach you and get the information from you?
- 52:17SPEAKER_03: Two best places, obviously, are the are the two pages on Instagram.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: Um, coaching our soo, coach G-A-S-U on on Instagram, and I also have uh recruit Coachello Valley.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: Um and if you DM me anything, just DM RCV, and I will know exactly what we're talking about.
- 52:34SPEAKER_03: That means you're you want information on your recruiting journey.
- 52:37SPEAKER_03: And then, you know, we have a lot of kids that have reached out and we just one-on-one, give me your phone number, let's talk.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: And I want to know where your head is on your recruiting journey and um where do you see yourself going?
- 52:49SPEAKER_03: And then we have your evaluation.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: Like you gotta see where where you are.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: Like physically, where are you?
- 52:56SPEAKER_03: Stats-wise, where do you fit in?
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: And JPA, where do you fit in?
- 53:01SPEAKER_03: Like we do a full thing, it's called a readiness test.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: Um basically, you give us all of your information and we'll tell you where we think you fit.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: I haven't been wrong yet.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: So I'll knock on this name, this ain't wood, but knock on something would.
- 53:18SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 53:19SPEAKER_03: And like, this is the thing, is like we have a formula, it's a very strict formula, and like I will do whatever I can to make sure you get where you want to go, but in return, you must do the things that I tell you in the order that I tell you.
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and like I will do my part, but you have to do yours.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: And if you do one thing out of order or out of step or whatever, like it throws everything off.
- 53:40SPEAKER_03: That's the whole recipe though.
- 53:42SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 53:42SPEAKER_03: It's like cooking.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 53:44SPEAKER_03: You want the best cookies out there, you want good pancakes, you want good anything, you gotta do it in order.
- 53:48SPEAKER_03: And so they can be consistent.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 53:51SPEAKER_03: Like you can make a offshoot here and there, but like it's hard to replicate that.
- 53:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I want to replicate it.
- 53:57SPEAKER_03: I want multiple kids to come out of the Coachella Valley every year.
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: I don't want to just create one kid and that's it.
- 54:03SPEAKER_03: I want I want more Jacobs every year.
- 54:06SPEAKER_03: Obviously, we had one kid right now in two months, but like next year I want to have like four or five.
- 54:11SPEAKER_03: The next year, four or five.
- 54:13SPEAKER_03: Like every year I want to produce a handful of athletes, and it's like baking cookies.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: So that recipe is the same.
- 54:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:18SPEAKER_03: If you follow this recipe, this is your outcome.
- 54:21SPEAKER_03: I'm not guarantee everybody to go to Fresno, go to whatever, but guarantee you play somewhere on a Saturday.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: Somewhere.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: Somewhere.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: You're gonna play on a Saturday.
- 54:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: And that's all matters.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: And Coach Armstrong used to always say, too, the legendary Coach Armstrong from the Kinty, he used to always say, If there's if you want to play at the next level, there's a place for you.
- 54:40SPEAKER_02: I don't care what your skill level is, they will find you a place.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: And I think that's what you're kind of taking the role of now is you're gonna go out there and find.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: And if your kid maybe not be an all-league player, but he still wants to play, there's places, right?
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: And that means he's getting an education.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: If he's playing somewhere.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: So it's think about it that way.
- 54:57SPEAKER_03: That's key.
- 54:58SPEAKER_03: That's I talk about that a lot.
- 55:01SPEAKER_03: Jobs, footballs only last so long.
- 55:03SPEAKER_03: So it's all a short career, man.
- 55:05SPEAKER_03: Short period of time of your life.
- 55:07SPEAKER_03: So, like, let's let you go to college to get everything paid for for free.
- 55:12SPEAKER_03: And then while you're doing that, you'll play the game that you love.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: That you love.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:16SPEAKER_03: And then if you're lucky enough and skilled enough and you take things serious enough, that 1% will go to the NFL.
- 55:21SPEAKER_03: You're paid to do it.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: Play on Sunday.
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: Make that your full-time job.
- 55:24SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 55:25SPEAKER_03: But like, until then, there's a it's a lot of work to be done.
- 55:29unknown: Yeah.
- 55:29SPEAKER_03: And uh it's hard to do things by yourself.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: Think about driving somewhere.
- 55:35SPEAKER_03: It's it's a lot harder to do without GPS.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: Back in the day, we had to print our maps.
- 55:39SPEAKER_03: Map quest, baby.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I did.
- 55:41SPEAKER_03: You had to like check it off with the pen when you hit that shirt point.
- 55:44SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 55:45SPEAKER_03: Imagine doing them road trips without it.
- 55:47SPEAKER_03: I remember.
- 55:48SPEAKER_03: I've been yelled there so many times when my dad feels like that.
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: It said nine miles and we're turning right.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: And so think about life without that.
- 55:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:55SPEAKER_03: And that's kind of where we come into play.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: Map quest to recruiting right now.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, map quest to recruit.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: So, like if you want to play, man, we will get you there.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: But you must follow these exact instructions on the map, on the highlighted map quest.
- 56:07SPEAKER_03: You might get lost to get there.
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: If you don't do it, if you don't do them, you'll get lost.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: That's it, man.
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 56:12SPEAKER_03: And so that's kind of where we come into play for the Valley.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: Well, recruit Coachella Valley, man, is the new check it out.
- 56:20SPEAKER_02: Hey, you gotta check it out.
- 56:21SPEAKER_02: If anybody that thinks that they can play on that next level, Coach Gasu says, hey, seventh, eighth grade is about the time to start checking it out.
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: Um coach, you're doing a great job, man.
- 56:30SPEAKER_02: We love you coming.
- 56:31SPEAKER_02: You're a friend of the show.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: We're gonna have you back and we're gonna tell some more stories.
- 56:35SPEAKER_02: But you know what?
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: We appreciate it.
- 56:39SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 56:40SPEAKER_03: Like it is the valley needs the right media to portray and to show that we got the kids out here.
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:46SPEAKER_03: And if it wasn't for you guys, you know, talking about the kids and having the podcast and having interviews and showing the world and showing the other valleys, you know, that we have athletes out here, they wouldn't know.
- 56:57SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 56:57SPEAKER_03: You guys understand the journey.
- 56:58SPEAKER_03: You guys understand how hard it is.
- 57:00SPEAKER_03: You guys are from here.
- 57:00SPEAKER_03: You guys, you know, we personally have kids out here.
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: And so you understand how hard it is.
- 57:06SPEAKER_03: And so for you guys to build what you guys are building with Desert Valley Blitz to really, you know, push kids through the media, like that's that's huge.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: Yes, a small little part of this community.
- 57:15SPEAKER_03: Shout out to you guys, man.
- 57:16SPEAKER_03: We're trying, man.
- 57:18SPEAKER_02: We're trying to work with people like you and push this thing forward, man.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: But you're a blessing to the valley, man.
- 57:23SPEAKER_02: We appreciate you coming in today.
- 57:25SPEAKER_02: We're gonna be bringing you back to I like that showcase when you're ready to go on that and get the word out there.
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: But thanks for coming in, coach.
- 57:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, for sure.
- 57:32SPEAKER_02: Automatic.
- 57:34SPEAKER_02: All right, guys.
- 57:35SPEAKER_02: You know the routine, man.
- 57:36SPEAKER_02: If you found some value, which you should have in that episode, you know the routine, man.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: Like, subscribe, and follow.
- 57:42SPEAKER_02: And we'll see you next time on Desert Valley Blitz.
- 57:45SPEAKER_02: Peace.
