- 0:02Hello, welcome to He's Hot, But something is off.
- 0:08Oh, man. I've got a list of things I want
- 0:12to go through. And usually, you know, I don't
- 0:17usually write any ideas down for a lot of the episodes of this
- 0:21podcast because usually I have so much stuff I can just talk
- 0:26about. I can usually open my mouth and
- 0:30stuff just like falls out. But you know what?
- 0:33The weird thing, a super weird thing happened this week.
- 0:37I was talking to my therapist yesterday or two days ago, just
- 0:41comes out on Thursday. I have my therapist session on
- 0:43Tuesday and we've been making good progress on working on
- 0:49stuff. And I think for the first time
- 0:54in a very long time, maybe in my life, I ran out of things to say
- 1:02in the therapy session. It's an hour long session and
- 1:06about like just over halfway through, like 35 minutes into
- 1:12it, I was like, I don't think I have anything more to say.
- 1:17I guess that's like the ultimate sign.
- 1:19Therapy has helped me slash changed me.
- 1:24I I'm using the word help as I'm assuming the therapy is helping
- 1:30as a giant helicopter flies by again.
- 1:35I was recording an episode of the gay Crewson travel podcast.
- 1:42It was like 2 episodes ago and a helicopter flew right over.
- 1:48I don't think the mic picked it up as I'm using a like a podcast
- 1:52mic, so it doesn't really pick up any background noise.
- 1:56Sometimes in West Hollywood, they just fly the helicopters
- 1:59real low because there's a suspect that's on foot.
- 2:02A suspect that's on foot. Anyways, back to the original
- 2:05point. Yeah, I just, I ran out of stuff
- 2:07to say. I was just sitting there with my
- 2:08therapist on the video conference call and it's like,
- 2:11I, I think I, I, I think maybe I've gone what I want out of
- 2:17therapy. So yeah, I'm going to, well, I
- 2:21guess we are going to like wind it down.
- 2:23I'm now afraid when I see him next week, I'm not gonna have
- 2:29anything to say. You know, I've done therapy once
- 2:32before, but it wasn't like it. I don't think it really worked.
- 2:37The last time I did it, and that was like a few years ago.
- 2:40It was I, I think I didn't like click with that first therapist.
- 2:47It wasn't that he was a bad therapist.
- 2:53I think I just wasn't able to connect with him on a deep
- 2:58enough level to really have the therapy be of like that much of
- 3:04A benefit to me anyways. But I do get along well with
- 3:08this therapist and I've been able to like, open up a lot.
- 3:12And yeah, so I think I'm able to, you know, wind down the
- 3:17therapy, which was going to therapy is really weird because
- 3:22I have no idea what I was really expecting.
- 3:24I was really stressed back in January.
- 3:26That's when I started. And I've been kind of sort of
- 3:29thinking about therapy and like the back of my head, it's like
- 3:32party #72 out of the all the things that Joey needs to do.
- 3:38But then I was so stressed coming back from that trip to
- 3:42Asia and Sydney and Australia, and I've been doing better hope
- 3:47since then. So yeah, I'm sure I'll have an
- 3:51update on that once I wind that down.
- 3:53But I, I don't know how this was started.
- 3:58The way I was going to start this podcast was talking about,
- 4:00I've got a list of things written down that I want to talk
- 4:03about today. Therapy was not one of them.
- 4:05But I just had to bring that up because, yeah, it's just so
- 4:10rare. You, all of you listeners on the
- 4:13podcast, all three of you know how I just talk and talk and
- 4:16talk These podcasts I always aim for to be like 20 to 30 minutes.
- 4:21I always run over. OK, anyways, I did want to talk
- 4:24about a few things today and I was writing when I was writing
- 4:28down the the bullet points, I was thinking this is kind of
- 4:32sort of like a like a Morning News or like even Evening News
- 4:39type of a thing. You know, when you watch a news
- 4:41program these days, which by the way, I haven't watched any news
- 4:44program in many, many years, but my recollection of how a typical
- 4:48news program kind of goes like the Evening News, right?
- 4:53They start with like the headline news, the big hitting
- 4:55news. And then if they get to like the
- 4:57smaller news and then eventually if it, you know, but not every
- 5:02day there's enough news to fill like 30 minutes or an hour or
- 5:05however long those news programs go for, they'll eventually
- 5:12graduated to talk about quote UN quote lifestyle type things like
- 5:175 tips to make sure you wash your vegetables properly or how
- 5:22to tell if your, if your pet has ticks or something like that.
- 5:26It's not news, but it's just fodder.
- 5:30You know, it's just like random stuff to talk about.
- 5:33So I've got kind of sort of that same type of thing.
- 5:36I've got one headline news thing I want to discuss and then we've
- 5:41got some more minor things to talk about.
- 5:44So when I was writing, I got 3 bullet points like, oh, this
- 5:46looks like the flow of like a typical news program on TV.
- 5:51Anyways, the first thing I wanted to talk about the, the,
- 5:53the actual news and actual current event that's impacting
- 5:57actual people in the world is the Apple versus Epic lawsuit.
- 6:04So some of you that follow tech news probably know about this
- 6:09already. It's been brewing for it's the
- 6:12litigation and the lawsuit has been going on for quite a while.
- 6:17But it does have impact for listeners of this podcast.
- 6:21And it definitely has an impact for people thinking about or
- 6:27already subscribed to my Patreon, which is why I bring it
- 6:30up today. So I've got, I've got AI to
- 6:34basically summarize everything. But basically the dispute is
- 6:39every time you buy something on a Apple device, it goes through
- 6:47the App Store. Like you want to install an app
- 6:49on your iPhone or your iPad, You have to go to the Apple App
- 6:53Store, you find the app, you download it.
- 6:56OK, Sometimes apps are not free. There are some paid apps.
- 7:00And if you're going to download a paid app, the payment is done
- 7:04via Apple's systems because you're at Apple's App Store,
- 7:08which Apple controls the App Store, and then the payment goes
- 7:11to Apple. Basically, you don't.
- 7:14You're not actually going through the payment directly
- 7:16with whoever created the app. Same thing for if you make some
- 7:21sort of purchase within an app on an iPhone or an iPad.
- 7:24Maybe you're playing a game that you've downloaded from the Apple
- 7:27App Store. Then within the game you can
- 7:30like buy tokens or stickers or whatever kids buy these days in
- 7:34games. I don't play games, I don't know
- 7:35any of this, but whenever you buy something within an app that
- 7:38you downloaded from the App Store, it also go through Apple
- 7:41system, OK, So all these types of purchases, Apple takes a cut
- 7:47and they take like a 30% Commission.
- 7:50OK, So if you buy a $10 app, OK, But you want to download an app,
- 7:56it's it's a paid app, not free. It's $10.
- 7:58Three dollars goes to Apple, $7.00 goes to the developers of
- 8:03that app. So Epic basically sued Apple and
- 8:06say this is not legal, blah, blah, blah.
- 8:08So the latest ruling is that Apple has been ordered that they
- 8:15cannot enforce. Apple cannot enforce the
- 8:21collection of fees on purchases made outside of apps and cannot
- 8:28restrict how developers can direct users to external payment
- 8:31options. What that means is previously
- 8:35Apple would not allow app developers to direct people to
- 8:41pay for anything outside of Apple's system.
- 8:44OK, take Spotify as an example. Way, way before you could pay
- 8:49for a Spotify plan like Spotify Premium from within the Spotify
- 8:54app on an Apple device like on your iPhone.
- 8:58OK, you can download Spotify, the app itself for free and then
- 9:02have it installed on your iPhone.
- 9:03That within the Spotify app, you can then subscribe to Spotify
- 9:07Premium. Since you're doing it from
- 9:09within the app on your Apple device, that would have to go
- 9:13through Apple's payment system. Therefore Apple would take a 30%
- 9:17cut of whatever the price is. OK, some developers basically
- 9:24stop offering in app payments within the app, like Spotify
- 9:28eventually stop allowing users to subscribe to and pay for
- 9:34premium from within the Spotify app on Apple devices, therefore
- 9:39preventing Apple from taking the 30% cut.
- 9:42So that's like something developers can choose to do.
- 9:45But what what also is happening at the same time with the old
- 9:49Apple rules is that Apple prevents app developers from
- 9:54referring users to bypass Apple's own payment system.
- 9:59So in the Spotify example, Spotify, they were not allowed
- 10:05within their own app to direct users and tell them, hey, you
- 10:09can go to our Spotify website to subscribe for Spotify Premium.
- 10:15Because apparently just advertising a different way to
- 10:19pay for something related to that app or platform.
- 10:22Spotify in this case goes against Apple's rules.
- 10:26So how it released to Patreon, because I have a Patreon page
- 10:30boost can subscribe to the within the Patreon app.
- 10:34People can subscribe to my Patreon, but it would have to go
- 10:38through Apple's systems, Apple's payment system, and then Apple
- 10:43would take like a 30% cut. You know, in that case, it kind
- 10:47of sort of affects me at the end because like if Apple take takes
- 10:50a cut from Patreon, then Patreon, they kind of sort of
- 10:54need to make it up from somewhere.
- 10:58And there's actually a setting for Patreon subscribers to
- 11:01actually set different pricing for people who subscribe via the
- 11:07Apple App and actually have that enabled.
- 11:09So Patreon says it is creators either no, you can charge
- 11:14everybody the same amount, but then you would earn less from
- 11:17people who subscribe after Apple takes their cut if they're doing
- 11:21it from the app with on an Apple device.
- 11:25Or you can charge more for people who are trying to
- 11:29subscribe via the app on an Apple device.
- 11:32Therefore, your creator earnings are going to be the same no
- 11:36matter what, but then the user pays more.
- 11:38It's like a tariff. It's kind of sort of like a
- 11:40tariff, like someone has to pay more.
- 11:42It's just an extra tax. One of the very first things I
- 11:44did when I launched my Patreon is highlight this extra.
- 11:49I called it the Apple tax. It's a PIN post at the top of my
- 11:52Patreon. It still is and it's always
- 11:54there. And I just wanted to educate
- 11:57people who are going to subscribe to my Patreon that,
- 12:00hey, like if you can, don't pay for the subscription from within
- 12:06the app. If you're using an Apple device,
- 12:09do it from like the patreon.com website.
- 12:12I had to say that, but it's Patreon.
- 12:15They were not allowed to say it in the Patreon app on behalf of
- 12:19it, the creators, because of Apple's rules, Apple prevents
- 12:22them from advertising a different payment method that is
- 12:26not Apple's payment method. The latest ruling that just came
- 12:29out like this past week or like a week or two ago, the judge
- 12:33basically says Apple can't prevent developers from
- 12:36advertising other forms of payment, other methods of
- 12:40payment. So now Spotify just released a
- 12:43new version and update of their app that allows Spotify to tell
- 12:47its users, hey, you can sign up for Spotify Premium and pay for
- 12:50it on our website. And they can now say this within
- 12:54the Spotify app within the iPhone.
- 12:56I saw the update on my iPhone, but I Spotify, I don't pay for
- 12:59Spotify, but I use Spotify for podcasts, but I just use like
- 13:04the free plan because that's all I needed it for.
- 13:05I use YouTube Music for the actual music.
- 13:09And then I just noticed that oh, I get pop ups within the app
- 13:13telling me that I can basically it's advertising premium, not
- 13:18the premium plan. And it says, oh, I can go sign
- 13:20them on the website and do all that blah, blah, blah.
- 13:22So there's a new Patreon app, Patreon mobile app that's being
- 13:25updated that is basically doing the same thing where Patreon can
- 13:28now actually tell it's users, hey, if you want to go subscribe
- 13:33to this creator or this page, you can go to thepatreon.com
- 13:37website and do it there. And therefore, you know, like
- 13:40escape the 30% tax. So that's why you might be
- 13:42seeing a lot of people use Spotify.
- 13:44A lot of you probably use Spotify, the three of you.
- 13:48So that's why you're seeing some of these things.
- 13:51Yeah. And I just pointed out because
- 13:53like I said, you know, I, I run a Patreon page and I do charge a
- 13:56subscription and I've been personally not super for the
- 14:0130%. It's like, yeah, like, you know,
- 14:03Apple provides the app source a service.
- 14:06I mean, it's debatable where they should be doing it for
- 14:09free. I feel like it doesn't cost them
- 14:12that much on the grand scheme of things.
- 14:14Like, they don't actually, I don't think Apple actually needs
- 14:17to charge anything for the App Store because the amount of
- 14:22return on just the amount of money they make on having people
- 14:27stay within the Apple ecosystem and the App Store is a very
- 14:30significant part of that. They don't need to be charging a
- 14:3330% Commission because their return on investment in terms of
- 14:38just having something like the App Store and just not really
- 14:40charging much for it, definitely not 30%.
- 14:43I think it's like already, you know, worth more than their
- 14:48investment into building the App Store.
- 14:50But just like the fact that you have this ecosystem concept that
- 14:55I mean, all the big tech companies have it.
- 14:57Apple wants you to use all Apple stuff when you have an iPhone,
- 15:01it's iMessage, it's FaceTime, it's App Store, it's your Apple
- 15:04account. Same for Microsoft, same for
- 15:06Google. Like all the companies are
- 15:07trying to do it. Honestly, it's not just like
- 15:09you're using the device, you're using all of their stuff, you're
- 15:12using their ecosystem now. So just by having this ecosystem
- 15:16concept, like I think it's already kind of enough of a
- 15:20return really. But obviously these are all for
- 15:22profit companies. But yeah, so a a little bit of,
- 15:26I don't think I've ever delivered actual proper hot
- 15:33hitting news before on this podcast.
- 15:37It's not a news podcast, but I bring it up because, yeah, for
- 15:43some of you that might be interested in my Patreon or
- 15:45anyone's Patreon, any creator's Patreon, that's a change that's
- 15:48coming out that I'm that I'm glad to see.
- 15:53And it's also affecting other apps as well.
- 15:56Yeah. So that's, I think that's going
- 15:57to be the the one time of the year where I deliver actual
- 16:02headline news along with some user consumer advice.
- 16:08So one of my earliest teenage obsessions was skin care.
- 16:12Instead of looking at toys in a kids section at the store, I was
- 16:14looking at moisturizers in the skin care section.
- 16:17As I grew up and navigated my sexuality, I saw that most of
- 16:20the beauty industry was aimed at feminine women, sometimes at
- 16:23masculine men, but everyone else was left out.
- 16:27It wasn't for someone like me. With Surf Labs, I wanted to
- 16:30create a fun skin care experience for everyone.
- 16:33I'm pretty sure your skin doesn't care how masked or
- 16:35feminine you are or who you love, but I'm absolutely sure
- 16:38you need to take care of it. Check us out at Surf labs dot
- 16:41COSERVELAB, s.co, and you can also find us on Instagram and
- 16:48Twitter at surf labs. All right, OK, let let's let's
- 16:53get off the news. It it feels weird to deliver
- 16:55news. I don't think I'm great at it,
- 16:58but let let's just move off the news.
- 17:00The other weird thing that's been happening in my world
- 17:04personally is my condo was listed on the MOS, the multiple
- 17:11listing service, which is like the one system that all the real
- 17:17estate agents use for listings and you put on the MOS.
- 17:21It kind of sort of goes everywhere like Redfin, Zillow
- 17:24to all the actual agencies, etcetera.
- 17:27And I was talking to my realtor a week ago.
- 17:32We've been keeping in touch. Obviously, the place has been
- 17:34listed for a few months now. The market is just not good.
- 17:38The housing market is not good. You know, with all the
- 17:42geopolitical and economical issues, wink, wink, especially
- 17:47here in the US, barf, it's just not a good time to sell a condo
- 17:53because it's no one really wants to buy, make a big purchase and
- 18:01a house is pretty much the biggest purchase that most
- 18:04people could imagine buying. So decided to not sell the
- 18:09condo, just pull the listing for right now because it wasn't
- 18:12getting any bites. And I was like, you know what,
- 18:14if it's not getting any bites after we lowered the price for
- 18:16like a whole month, I rather just not list it.
- 18:19I'm just going to stay here for a while.
- 18:21I made my peace with it and I rather stay here for a while
- 18:24longer, even if that means like several months or even another
- 18:27year or two years or whatever and sell when the market gets
- 18:32hot again. You know, housing market is
- 18:35cyclical. I don't know when the market
- 18:37will become hot again. But I mean, it, it it's, it's
- 18:41we're at a low right now. I don't know when this low is
- 18:43going to lift up. But yeah, it's just a horrible
- 18:46time right now. But it's just so much
- 18:48uncertainty. I was like, any other time than
- 18:51now will be better to sell the place.
- 18:54So we pulled the listing. And The funny thing about
- 18:56pulling a listing because I've never sold a place before.
- 18:59I don't know. This was my first place that
- 19:01I've ever bought and I've never. So I've never sold any other
- 19:05place. Apparently if you pull a listing
- 19:09without selling it, you get tons of calls and text messages from
- 19:16other Realtors trying to get your listing.
- 19:21So literally like within hours of US pulling the listing, the
- 19:27first like random phone call or text message that came in was
- 19:30like two or three hours. However, you pulled the listing
- 19:32after I signed the paperwork to pull the listing because I
- 19:36signed it in the afternoon. Like one or two calls try to
- 19:38come in. I was like, and I never pick up
- 19:40random calls. And it just was like, OK, I got
- 19:44a couple calls in. I was like, OK, weird.
- 19:46And I didn't answer them and didn't, I think one of them just
- 19:49texted me. I was like texted my realtor.
- 19:52I was like, OK, I, I assume this is not related to you, but I
- 19:55just got this like random realtor try to call me.
- 19:57I didn't answer it. And he's like, Oh yeah.
- 20:00When listings get pulled without selling, other Realtors try to
- 20:02like come in and get it the next day, starting from the next
- 20:06morning, from like 8:00 AM in the morning, from like 8:00 AM
- 20:09to 9:00 AM the next day. I got like 4 calls.
- 20:12I had to put my phone line. The actual line itself, the
- 20:15phone number. So I had to put on do not
- 20:16disturb. It's still on do not disturb
- 20:18that way. Like none of the calls make.
- 20:20Like my phone doesn't ring because that first full day
- 20:23afterwards, like I must have gone like 15 calls.
- 20:27I've never gotten so many calls in my life who call who uses
- 20:30phones anymore? Like who calls it that?
- 20:31I don't remember the phone number for anyone.
- 20:34Like no one, no one calls anyone else.
- 20:36Honestly, everything for me, it's like, oh, it's WhatsApp,
- 20:40it's Instagram. It it's some sort of app.
- 20:43It's not like an actual phone number.
- 20:45Like I feel like phone numbers are kind of old fashioned.
- 20:48You know, people sometimes try to trade numbers.
- 20:50So I I guess with iMessage, people will still swap numbers
- 20:53because iMessage is you can do numbers or you can do an e-mail.
- 20:56But like, I don't use iMessage. I've never used iMessage even
- 20:59though I have an iPhone or like intentionally, OK, I don't want
- 21:01to be locked into the ecosystem. Yeah, but I got never gotten so
- 21:04many phone calls before. My phone was crazy for like a
- 21:07couple of days. I will like they, they, they got
- 21:10a hold of like not just one of my phone numbers, they got a
- 21:13hold of like 2 of my phone numbers.
- 21:14I've got like a few different phone numbers for like a few
- 21:16different things. And they got a hold of two of my
- 21:20emails somehow. So they are really good at like
- 21:23scouring publicly available information slash the dark web
- 21:30at like, oh, with this person, oh, what kind?
- 21:32What phone numbers are associated with that?
- 21:34I'm going to call them all. It was forward.
- 21:35They didn't just call once. They call you multiple times.
- 21:38A lot of them, a lot of the numbers that popped up, they'll
- 21:40call twice and then some of them will text you as well.
- 21:44It's like it's ferocious. I've never had that happen to me
- 21:48before. My phone is still on DND.
- 21:51Like, no, I never pick up calls. Usually I don't recognize any
- 21:54phone numbers. Honestly, the only time it's
- 21:59like a once in a year event that someone calls me out of the blue
- 22:04that I'm not expecting them to call and it's someone I actually
- 22:08want to talk to. Like I've got a couple of
- 22:12friends that might call me like an actual regular phone call,
- 22:16not on like not calling me from like a messaging app or from
- 22:21Instagram or whatever. It's only like once or twice a
- 22:25year that that might happen. But then their number is
- 22:27actually in my phone book and then they come up on the caller
- 22:29ID 99% of calls I get don't come up in my caller ID and I never
- 22:35answer them because it's almost always spam.
- 22:38I don't usually get a lot of calls.
- 22:39It's rare for my phone to go off.
- 22:41The only other time my phone goes off from a phone call is if
- 22:44it's like the intercom from the front of my building, but that's
- 22:47in my caller ID too. So like it pops up.
- 22:49So Oh my God, scanning so many calls.
- 22:51It was so annoying. And it not just phone calls.
- 22:55I'm getting mailers too. You know when you when you list
- 22:59the house again, it's on the MOS it's in like it's for the public
- 23:03to see. Anyone can see the listing so
- 23:05they can also detect when your listing comes off.
- 23:07I've gotten extra spam mail from Realtors and agencies just like
- 23:12in the area. Like I don't, I don't read any
- 23:14of them, but I noticed that, you know, when you go check the your
- 23:16stale mail, you can kind of see who it comes from.
- 23:19I don't open that stuff. It's all junk to me, but it's
- 23:22like it's from a bunch of like real estate agencies.
- 23:25So yeah, that's I, I've never been, I've never gotten so many
- 23:29phone calls and I, I don't think I'll ever get that many phone
- 23:31calls ever again. It's just so weird.
- 23:34Anyways, the last little thing I wanted to talk about I'm I'm
- 23:39loving how organized this is. You know, I just sat down at my
- 23:42computer, but it's one of the things I talk about with my
- 23:44realtor, by the way, this attention, but we're going to go
- 23:46with it. One of the things I realize
- 23:50that's contributing to my laziness and procrastination
- 23:56with work stuff is there's so many, there's so much work stuff
- 24:03going on that I have to do, but none of it is organized.
- 24:07So it's just like this haze of like I know behind that haze,
- 24:12it's like a bunch of stuff to do and my mind subconsciously kind
- 24:19of sort of just like tunes out. It's like I'm being overwhelmed
- 24:25without really knowing. I'm being overwhelmed by the
- 24:28sheer amount of work that I don't even know how big the
- 24:33amount is. I just know that it's not, it's
- 24:35just not a light amount of work. It's not like a simple task AB
- 24:39and C to check off. But I'm so unorganized about it
- 24:42that I don't even know behind the haze how much work I have to
- 24:45do. So part of tackling that feeling
- 24:51of being overwhelmed and therefore leading to the
- 24:53procrastination is just getting a lot more organized about, OK,
- 24:59what are like the actual tasks I need to do and actually writing
- 25:04them down. So actually just spent this
- 25:05afternoon like trying to set up a system of like, OK,
- 25:10visualizing the actual task I have to do for all the different
- 25:16businesses and actually have them all in one place in like a
- 25:19really nice visual format. That way, you know, even if it's
- 25:23multiple things I need to do, at least I can see them all in one
- 25:26place and I can organize them and actually make a decision.
- 25:29OK, today I'm going to do three of these things and then we'll
- 25:31just drag them over here and then we'll do these two things.
- 25:35At least it feels manageable. So I was doing that.
- 25:39I have no idea how I took this random tangent but anyways most
- 25:44of you probably have a facial cleanser and moisturizer already
- 25:47so I want to tell you about Shield and Slay DP which is a
- 25:50anti pollution hydration spray I formulated specifically for my
- 25:54skin care line Serve Labs. This is actually a product I've
- 25:57wanted I've been looking for for years now and haven't been able
- 26:00to find on the market. Which is something that was a
- 26:03hydration spray but also has anti pollution antioxidant
- 26:07properties for your skin. Shoot and slay DP is the
- 26:09ultimate double protection defense for your skin.
- 26:12Teaming up antioxidants, probiotics along with hydrate
- 26:15ingredients defend up environmental stressors and
- 26:17aggressors. You can use it as part of your
- 26:19daily skin care routine. But I've also designed it so I
- 26:21can use it while you're out and about on an airplane or whenever
- 26:24your skin feels dry, dull or a bit worse for wear.
- 26:27All you have to do is spray it on.
- 26:29Check out Shoot and Sleigh DP along with the rest of the Serve
- 26:32Labs skin care lineup at Serve Labs, dot, COSERVELAB, s.co, and
- 26:38you can also find us on Instagram and Twitter at Serve
- 26:42Labs. The last thing I wanted to talk
- 26:45about I was walking to the Trader Joe's as I do a lot of
- 26:49the times after I go to the gym, right as I actually took a photo
- 26:53of this. I'll, I, I guess I'll post it on
- 26:55something later, but I, I what right when you walk in in the
- 26:58middle of like the like entryway, there's a giant
- 27:02chalkboard sign. You know, a lot of shops they've
- 27:05got like a fold out sign that they put on the sidewalk and
- 27:10it's just like this giant chalkboard that they put
- 27:12whatever like, oh, today's cupcake specials or whatever it
- 27:15is. So Trader Joe's has one of those
- 27:18and I'm going to bring up the photo so I can read you verbatim
- 27:22exactly what it said on the sign because I saw it and I was like
- 27:26thank fuck God. It says oh I I'm looking at the
- 27:30photo. It's a blackboard so it's black
- 27:32and then bright neon yellow. Bold, large bright neon yellow.
- 27:39Print All caps surface. Animals welcome, pets not
- 27:44allowed. And the knot has, the knot has 2
- 27:49hyphens on either side of it. It's like, you know, to
- 27:51highlight it's not allowed. One of the things I don't
- 27:55understand, there's a lot of things I don't understand about
- 27:59this world that is like, I have no idea why people do this.
- 28:02This is one of those things where I can actually kind of
- 28:05understand bringing your pet who's not a service animal into
- 28:12a place where they sell food into like a grocery store or
- 28:14supermarket. I kind of understand because
- 28:17when I dock sit for my friends here and I just need to go to
- 28:23the grocery store, sometimes I wish like, yeah, it would be
- 28:26kind of nice to be able to like bring bring my bring the dog
- 28:29with me to like just just because that way the dog gets
- 28:33out. You know, it's kind of sort of
- 28:34like a walk for the dog yard walking the dog that way.
- 28:37But on the flip side of it, in a grocery store, they have shelves
- 28:43of stuff and the shelves, they start from like the floor going
- 28:48on up. You know, dogs are going to like
- 28:50sniff and lick and paw at shit. And I don't think dogs should be
- 28:59in that environment where they can like be licking at something
- 29:03or pawing something or like whatever.
- 29:05Because, you know, like there are foodstuffs that are like on
- 29:08the bottom shelf of stuff, right?
- 29:11I don't know if there are any actual bylaws or anything of
- 29:15that nature, at least here in Hollywood, I've never looked
- 29:18into it. But like that, yeah, I can like
- 29:20I I generally understand not having pets in a, in a sort of
- 29:25like a servant animal goes through a lot of training.
- 29:29A service animal is not a service animal is there to serve
- 29:32like a very important purpose, you know, for the humans that
- 29:36they're assisting. A service animal is very
- 29:38different, but like a random pet that is not a service animal.
- 29:42It's like, I don't know, like I was literally like a few days
- 29:47ago, someone was they were actually they're outside the
- 29:51Trader Joe's. So they were going into the
- 29:52Trader Joe's or they were probably come out the Trader
- 29:54Joe's just some random person with a dog.
- 29:57And then there's like these two, two women that don't know this
- 30:02person, this pet owner walking the other way.
- 30:05And like, I guess these two women, like they like dogs.
- 30:08So like they stop to like pet the dog or something.
- 30:10And a dog's trying to just jump up on them.
- 30:13A dog that's not trained, like professionally trained as a
- 30:16service animal. Like when you go, when you take
- 30:18them into a store, you don't know what they're going to do.
- 30:19Are they going to poop? Are they going to pee?
- 30:21Are they going to be like trying to jump up on some fruits and
- 30:24vegetables? Like you don't know, honestly.
- 30:28So yeah, I don't like it when I see pets in and anywhere that
- 30:35has food that is like serving food, selling food.
- 30:39And a lot of just right, at least in here in LAA lot of pet
- 30:43owners that when I do see them in like a grocery store, they
- 30:47are absolutely not paying attention to what the pet is
- 30:50doing whatsoever. They're on like half the time
- 30:54they're on the phone. So people think, who is talking
- 30:57on the phone all day long? Like, are you so bored when
- 31:00you're shopping for groceries that you have to be on the phone
- 31:02the entire time? Like buy a fucking Bluetooth
- 31:05headset. They'll be like on the phone,
- 31:08not looking where they're going, definitely not paying any
- 31:12attention or noticing anything that the dog is doing.
- 31:15And then they're like, you know, grocery shopping.
- 31:18So it's it's kind of sort of it hits one of my buttons, as you
- 31:22can clearly tell by now. Yeah, I, I just don't, it's
- 31:26already bad enough that people that are on phones that are not
- 31:28looking where they're walking. I've talked about this before,
- 31:31you know, like, who are you talking to That is so didn't
- 31:34ever talk about anything important.
- 31:36I can tell you right now, but I can hear them talk, but they're
- 31:39they're talking out loud on the phone.
- 31:40It's like, oh, Jennifer. Oh, she's just such a whatever.
- 31:45It's it's, it's I'm not the kind of person to like talk on the
- 31:54phone. I don't talk on the phone.
- 31:58If I want to actually talk to a friend, like like talk, talk to
- 32:02a friend. I tend not to be like grocery
- 32:06shopping while I do that. Because if I, if I'm talking,
- 32:08talking to a friend, it's probably something about, it's
- 32:11probably about something that's not super casual.
- 32:14We're not just be like, oh, hey, what's going on?
- 32:17But I don't talk on the phone for that.
- 32:19I'll message them and be like, and hey, what's going on?
- 32:22Me and my friends were too busy to just randomly have a phone
- 32:25conversation in the middle of the day for no reason.
- 32:27All right, We're not so bored with like grocery shopping or
- 32:33just like walking from A to B that like we have to be on the
- 32:36phone and talking to someone and be distracted, like running in
- 32:40to be on the sidewalk, not stopping at stop signs, not
- 32:43caring what our dog is jumping up and down on while we're
- 32:46buying milk. We're we're not, we're not that
- 32:49kind of people. Gross.
- 32:51So I I just don't understand if I'm talking, if I need to talk
- 32:55to a friend about something on the phone, it's probably
- 32:59something where I need to pay some amount of attention.
- 33:02And if a friend calls me when I'm out and about, I'm probably
- 33:06like stopping what I'm doing to like actually pay attention to
- 33:08that phone call because it's probably something kind of
- 33:11important. It's not just like, hey, what's
- 33:14going on? I'm calling you, but I'm bored
- 33:18with my own life. I'm bored on you with your life.
- 33:22ANYWAYS, less envy podcast there because as I was, as I've been
- 33:27working on with my therapist, you know, replace those negative
- 33:31thoughts and more positive thoughts.
- 33:35Yeah. So we will leave it there.
- 33:38By the way, I do have a Patreon that is open for subscriptions.
- 33:41And now that Patreon has updated their app, you don't have to pay
- 33:45that Apple tax. So there you go.
- 33:48There are bonus episodes of this podcast is called Uncut and it
- 33:53comes out every week for my Patreon subscribers and I also
- 33:58post some vlogs over there. So the vlogs, can you hear that
- 34:05chime in the back? I don't think the microphones
- 34:13picked that up, but I'm right by by kitchen and at the rice
- 34:16cooker on it's the rice sometimes takes a while.
- 34:19The rice is very the rice finished way too fast today.
- 34:22So maybe the the rice cooker is I didn't push the right buttons.
- 34:26Anyways, the rice cooker makes this loud obnoxious chime when
- 34:29it's done cooking. Yeah, but yeah, I've got travel
- 34:32vlogs on my Patreon as well. The travel vlogs that are coming
- 34:35out right now is from a road trip that I did to Vegas back in
- 34:42March. The 1st part just went up.
- 34:44Yeah. So a lot of fun content and I do
- 34:46a lot of like little posts on there as well.
- 34:49And I love interacting with my subscribers.
- 34:51I use Patreon like how normal people might use Twitter, you
- 34:57know, Twitter the way I mean, people still do that.
- 35:00They just post like random little short updates and photos
- 35:04of things like that. I, I've never gone into
- 35:07tweeting, so I, when I looked at the only time I tried to use
- 35:13Twitter as it was intended to do little short updates was back in
- 35:17like 2016, 2017, 2018. And it's like I kind of suddenly
- 35:21did it. I never got into it for some
- 35:23reason. Like posting on Patreon is like,
- 35:26I'm a lot more engaged with Patreon, but I guess it's not
- 35:30just getting random comments from random people on the
- 35:31Internet, but it's just like actual subscribers that want to
- 35:35see my content and they have thoughtful comments on it and
- 35:38they interact with the stuff I actually post.
- 35:41Yeah. So I post a lot of stuff there.
- 35:42So feel free to go check that out.
- 35:44And also the links to everything else that I do, including my new
- 35:48YouTube videos. There'll be more new YouTube
- 35:51videos coming out. By the way, everything is linked
- 35:54down below. But until next time.
- 35:56Bye all.
