- Lucas: Velkommen til Learn Danish with Fexingo — episode 130. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny step into Danish? Lucas: Today we're going back to the pharmacy — but with a new phrase. Last time we covered basics like asking for medicine. Now let's try describing a cold. Luna: Oh, a cold. I had one last week. Very sneezy. Lucas: And the Danish phrase for that is 'Jeg har en forkølelse.' Say it with me: Jeg har en forkølelse. Luna: Jeg har en forkølelse. Lucas: Great. 'En forkølelse' is a cold — like the illness. So 'Jeg har en forkølelse' means 'I have a cold.' Luna: Jeg har en forkølelse. That's a mouthful, but I like it. Lucas: Good. Now when you're at the pharmacy, you might also need to say 'Jeg har brug for medicin' — 'I need medicine.' We had that in episode 121, but let's practice it again. Jeg har brug for medicin. Luna: Jeg har brug for medicin. Lucas: Perfect. So you could say 'Jeg har en forkølelse, og jeg har brug for medicin.' Luna: Jeg har en forkølelse, og jeg har brug for medicin. Lucas: Exactly. Then the pharmacist might ask what you need. But a useful phrase to ask is 'Hvad anbefaler du?' — 'What do you recommend?' Listen: Hvad anbefaler du? Luna: Hvad anbefaler du? Lucas: That's it. 'Anbefaler' is 'recommend'. So at the pharmacy, you can say 'Jeg har en forkølelse. Hvad anbefaler du?' Luna: Jeg har en forkølelse. Hvad anbefaler du? Lucas: Wonderful. Then the pharmacist might say something like 'Tag det tre gange om dagen.' — 'Take it three times a day.' Let's break that down: 'Tag' means 'take', 'det' is 'it', 'tre gange' is 'three times', 'om dagen' is 'per day'. Tag det tre gange om dagen. Luna: Tag det tre gange om dagen. That's a long one! Lucas: You can split it: Tag det — tre gange — om dagen. Try it piece by piece. Luna: Tag det. Tre gange. Om dagen. Tag det tre gange om dagen. Lucas: Perfect. So now you have a full pharmacy visit: 'Jeg har en forkølelse. Jeg har brug for medicin. Hvad anbefaler du?' And they might say 'Tag det tre gange om dagen.' Luna: Let me try the whole thing: Jeg har en forkølelse. Jeg har brug for medicin. Hvad anbefaler du? Lucas: Bravo! That's a real conversation. Luna: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Danish, the reason it stays ad-free is listener support. You can buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, it really helps us keep making these small episodes. So let's keep going. Luna, imagine you're at the pharmacy with a cold. What do you say? Luna: Jeg har en forkølelse. Jeg har brug for medicin. Hvad anbefaler du? Lucas: And the pharmacist says 'Tag det tre gange om dagen.' What does that mean? Luna: Take it three times a day. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice the response. If they recommend a medicine, you can say 'Tak, det tager jeg.' — 'Thanks, I'll take it.' But that's for another episode. For now, let's review today's phrases. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: First: Jeg har en forkølelse. Luna: Jeg har en forkølelse. Lucas: Second: Jeg har brug for medicin. Luna: Jeg har brug for medicin. Lucas: Third: Hvad anbefaler du? Luna: Hvad anbefaler du? Lucas: And fourth: Tag det tre gange om dagen. Luna: Tag det tre gange om dagen. Lucas: Perfect. Next time you have a cold in Denmark, you'll know what to say. Luna: And what to ask. Tak for today, Lucas. Lucas: Det var så lidt. Practice these, and we'll see you in episode 131. Luna: Farvel!
