Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Trade grades. We need them. Front Office Unfiltered.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Our professor and resident GM, Jim Bowden, who was hustling yesterday.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Good to see you, jab and you look refreshed after
- 0:19Speaker 2: a crazy day of trades. So let's get right into
- 0:22Speaker 2: this and we're going to show a board. We'll show three.
- 0:25Speaker 2: As we're talking through this, you split it up with
- 0:27Speaker 2: buyers buyer sellers. So that's its own little, unique, crazy
- 0:31Speaker 2: category that only has two teams and then sellers. So
- 0:34Speaker 2: let's start with the good stuff, the teams that went
- 0:36Speaker 2: in the buyers from A to I see a D
- 0:39Speaker 2: plus on here.
- 0:40Speaker 1: What do you have for us?
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:42Speaker 4: So, I mean obviously it starts with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
- 0:45Speaker 4: They get an A plus. You went and got the
- 0:47Speaker 4: best picture in the American League that's won two Cy
- 0:49Speaker 4: Young Awards. You were able to consummate the deal with
- 0:51Speaker 4: forty eight hours to go before the trade deadline. You
- 0:54Speaker 4: didn't have to throw in the fourth prospect, and you
- 0:56Speaker 4: did what the Dodgers do. They are the model franchise
- 0:59Speaker 4: for any sport on planet Earth. San Diego Padres aj Preller.
- 1:04Speaker 4: He won the trade deadline a year ago when he
- 1:06Speaker 4: went and got Mason Miller at the deadline and he
- 1:08Speaker 4: decided he wanted to win it again. He gets a
- 1:11Speaker 4: straight A, and it reminds me of Raiders Are the
- 1:14Speaker 4: Lost Ark in that scene where the villains pulls out
- 1:17Speaker 4: that sword and he starts.
- 1:18Speaker 3: To twirl it around and starts.
- 1:20Speaker 4: To threaten for fifteen minutes and then Harrison Ford sits
- 1:23Speaker 4: there and he pulls up their revolve and just shoots him.
- 1:26Speaker 4: That's what aj did. Didn't make a single move until Monday.
- 1:29Speaker 4: He waited at the end of the day. Here's Casey Mice,
- 1:32Speaker 4: Here's Robbie Ray. Here comes a wild card birth Arizona. Goodbye,
- 1:35Speaker 4: Hope you enjoyed second place. I'm about to go past you.
- 1:38Speaker 4: They get an A. A couple others that got in
- 1:41Speaker 4: the A minus range, the Red Sox obviously, Ally Rutchmand
- 1:45Speaker 4: Curtis Mead, Eric Miller loved all three pickups for them.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Great job by Craig Breslow.
- 1:49Speaker 4: People are gonna keep playing because he overpaid and maybe
- 1:52Speaker 4: you know, he lose some trades, but he made his
- 1:54Speaker 4: franchise better. He gave his team a better chance of winning.
- 1:58Speaker 4: That's what the job is. It's not the win. Trade
- 2:00Speaker 4: is to win championships. It's not to hold on to prospects,
- 2:03Speaker 4: it's to have parades.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Chicago Cubs gave them an A minus.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Great job by Jed Hoyer. Pitching was the biggest issue
- 2:10Speaker 4: in catching Milwaukee. Enter Kevin Gosman, Enter Clay Holmes, enter
- 2:15Speaker 4: Ryan's ever got John and Boom all of a sudden,
- 2:18Speaker 4: you did that, You get a fourth outfield and Tyrone Taylor.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I thought those four teams separated themselves as buyers, did
- 2:25Speaker 4: the best job, and they did what they were supposed
- 2:27Speaker 4: to do, improving their chances of getting the playoffs or
- 2:30Speaker 4: winning a division or winning a championship.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Nice.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Okay, so some good a's on the board. Let's take
- 2:35Speaker 2: a pause for a second here.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Do you have.
- 2:37Speaker 5: First of all, Jim, do you like movies about gladiators?
- 2:41Speaker 4: Not in particular, but that particular scene I loved because
- 2:45Speaker 4: in life I see so many people that do all
- 2:47Speaker 4: this talking and yapping and throwing all these opinions, and
- 2:51Speaker 4: then the quiet guy in the room just pulls the
- 2:53Speaker 4: trigger and beat you.
- 2:54Speaker 5: And I exactly right, exactly, so you're right. So let
- 2:59Speaker 5: me let me ask you this about this. And by
- 3:01Speaker 5: the way, Jim, when you said that it's about having parades.
- 3:04Speaker 5: We have gotten more hate. I guess by saying yesterday
- 3:09Speaker 5: that a lot of people are like, oh, we don't
- 3:11Speaker 5: want to go all in, especially a certain team just
- 3:13Speaker 5: north of Chicago. We don't want to go all in
- 3:16Speaker 5: because we're competitive every year and we make the playoffs
- 3:19Speaker 5: every year, and we lose in the first round every year.
- 3:21Speaker 5: But we don't want to win. We just want to
- 3:23Speaker 5: win lose in the first round because we make the
- 3:25Speaker 5: playoffs every year. Jim, So, I don't understand that feeling
- 3:28Speaker 5: from a fan because I will lose for five years
- 3:31Speaker 5: if it gets me a World Series the next year.
- 3:34Speaker 5: I will give up everyone if it gets me that
- 3:36Speaker 5: one parade. I have a different thing, maybe because I'm competitive,
- 3:39Speaker 5: just my thoughts.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I was only a part of one World Championship
- 3:43Speaker 4: and there's nothing like it. And I thought when I
- 3:45Speaker 4: got that first World Championship was a part of it.
- 3:47Speaker 4: I thought we're going to get a whole bunch of them.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I never got another one, right, It's truly hard to get,
- 3:52Speaker 4: as you know AJ as a player and watching it.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I mean, so, yeah, it is what it is. That's
- 3:57Speaker 4: what it's all about. You have a chance, you go
- 3:59Speaker 4: for it.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Get it.
- 4:00Speaker 6: Now.
- 4:01Speaker 4: That being said, I also understand it's complicated because you know,
- 4:05Speaker 4: you talk about the Milwaukee Brewers in Tampa Bay for
- 4:07Speaker 4: a minute, They're always challenged because they can't compete in
- 4:11Speaker 4: a payroll world at all with anybody, and they're trying
- 4:15Speaker 4: to have a shot every year of being there, and
- 4:18Speaker 4: you got to have young star players to do that.
- 4:21Speaker 4: And so I'm not going to criticize the Brewers for
- 4:24Speaker 4: not trading hayesus Mo Day, which is the only way
- 4:27Speaker 4: they could have gotten Schooble. And I'm not going to
- 4:29Speaker 4: blame the Race for not trading Theo Gillen, which is
- 4:31Speaker 4: the only way they could have gotten Schooble. From what
- 4:33Speaker 4: I'm being told, for two months of Schooble doesn't guarante
- 4:37Speaker 4: you are world championship. And if you want to keep
- 4:40Speaker 4: winning and have a chance, you better hold onto those
- 4:42Speaker 4: two guys because they're going to be stars.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So outside of them, though, I don't.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Think anyone should have been an untouchable in either club
- 4:50Speaker 4: to get Schooble.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Wait, so the Tigers were demanding the very top prospect
- 4:55Speaker 2: in those two organizations, yet they started at five with
- 4:59Speaker 2: zire Hoe hope with the Dodgers. Do you know, like
- 5:02Speaker 2: that's there?
- 5:04Speaker 4: Yeah, So here's my thing on that. So I'm glad
- 5:06Speaker 4: you brought that up, right. I get so sick of
- 5:08Speaker 4: these prospect rankings. We got some really smart.
- 5:11Speaker 3: People right in baseball.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I ask all of you go back and look at
- 5:15Speaker 4: MLB Pipeline, Baseball America, and go study what all these
- 5:20Speaker 4: great prospects were over the last fifteen years and tell
- 5:22Speaker 4: me how many lived up to that. And tell me
- 5:25Speaker 4: how many times a number ten prospect was actually the
- 5:28Speaker 4: number one prospect and guys that weren't even in the
- 5:30Speaker 4: top ten that got to the big leagues and made
- 5:32Speaker 4: All Star teams. Like, you're going to be shocked and
- 5:35Speaker 4: stunned if you actually go back and look at all
- 5:37Speaker 4: these rankings that are never close. They're never close. So
- 5:42Speaker 4: in the case that you just asked me, was I
- 5:43Speaker 4: your hope? He would have been the number one prospect
- 5:46Speaker 4: in most organizations? Just is anyone that's seen this player
- 5:49Speaker 4: going to hit for average? He's got twenty to thirty
- 5:52Speaker 4: home run power, twenty to thirty stolen base how's the
- 5:55Speaker 4: work ethic? High baseball IQ, great baseball instincts? Now, would
- 5:59Speaker 4: I have taken made over him, Yep, what I have
- 6:02Speaker 4: taken Gillan over him, probably, but it's close.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So even though for.
- 6:07Speaker 4: The Dodgers people have ranked them fifth, I'll argue that
- 6:10Speaker 4: he's better than that. I'll argue that he probably should
- 6:13Speaker 4: have been two after Depaula for me. And he's a
- 6:16Speaker 4: better defender than de Paula. So again, it's all about evaluations, right.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I Mean, it was funny when that trade was made
- 6:23Speaker 4: between the Washington Nationals and the Yankees. I quickly looked
- 6:28Speaker 4: at the rankings that lou Pipeline and Baseball America.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Had on the four players.
- 6:33Speaker 4: So the guy that they had first not the guy
- 6:37Speaker 4: the Nationals wanted. They wanted the guy that they had
- 6:40Speaker 4: second on those lists, who they think clearly was the
- 6:43Speaker 4: headliner in Grabile over Sebert.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And so that's why when I do my research, well,
- 6:49Speaker 4: I'm either evaluating the players myself or I'm calling the
- 6:51Speaker 4: teams that I'm asking them directly, what does your organization
- 6:54Speaker 4: think of these players? Because it doesn't matter what all
- 6:56Speaker 4: these publications think or what all these analysts think or
- 6:59Speaker 4: experts think. It's really about what is an organization and
- 7:02Speaker 4: all their scouts, how do they summarize the rankings and
- 7:06Speaker 4: it's just not consistent. So I guess my answer to
- 7:09Speaker 4: you is, Hope is better than how he is ranked
- 7:12Speaker 4: in the Dodger system. Also, the Dodger system is so
- 7:15Speaker 4: good that Hope gets knocked down a little bit. But
- 7:18Speaker 4: the Tigers did well on their return. I don't care
- 7:21Speaker 4: what anybody says. Could they have gotten more on Monday?
- 7:23Speaker 4: I think so, but they still for a rental. This
- 7:27Speaker 4: is one of the best rental returns we've ever seen.

- 8:32Speaker 2: I'm going to get back to the bus because I
- 8:33Speaker 2: want to still like throw a trade or two at you,
- 8:35Speaker 2: but I still want to go through the deadline grades
- 8:38Speaker 2: and not get two off topics. So we'll get back
- 8:40Speaker 2: to Milwaukee. Okay, let's go through bees. We don't have
- 8:43Speaker 2: to go team by team here. I just want to
- 8:44Speaker 2: point out, like, say, one or two questions. I'm a
- 8:46Speaker 2: glaring one as we go back to your grade JB.
- 8:49Speaker 2: So you gave the Phillies a B plus. And I'm
- 8:51Speaker 2: saying this also because we have an audio crowd on
- 8:53Speaker 2: podcasts later that's going to listen, so I want to
- 8:55Speaker 2: make sure they get every team here, Yankees, Guardians, Raised
- 8:57Speaker 2: White Sox, and Mariners. Got to be be My was Braves, Brewers,
- 9:01Speaker 2: and Pirates. I guess we'll go back to the Brewers
- 9:03Speaker 2: in a sect, But let me go to Braves for
- 9:04Speaker 2: a moment. Why did the Braves get a B minus
- 9:07Speaker 2: and not a lower grade for neglecting a frontline starter
- 9:11Speaker 2: that they've badly needed for a while.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think they neglected it. They just weren't
- 9:15Speaker 4: able to land it right. They wanted to hold on
- 9:17Speaker 4: to Cam kemmidyty, the best pitching prospect in Jr. Richie,
- 9:21Speaker 4: and didn't find a rental that they liked to give up.
- 9:25Speaker 4: And remember Alex in Thoppol's histories, that doesn't give up rentals.
- 9:28Speaker 4: His number one goal at the deadline was to get
- 9:31Speaker 4: a starter that could start a playoff game, and he
- 9:33Speaker 4: did not accomplish that. That's why I got to be minus.
- 9:36Speaker 4: So why was the grade not lower? Because I thought
- 9:39Speaker 4: he did a really good job of blocking Philadelphia. What
- 9:43Speaker 4: I mean by that is Phillies really needed a right
- 9:46Speaker 4: hand hitting outfielder, someone that could rake against left hand
- 9:48Speaker 4: pitching because they struggle against left hand pitching.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Lane Thomas does that.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Lane Thomas can play all three outfield positions and he
- 9:55Speaker 4: Rakes left handed pitching. He was the perfect acquisition for
- 9:58Speaker 4: the Phillies number two. One of the Phillies issues is
- 10:02Speaker 4: they don't win when their fourth and fifth starters are
- 10:04Speaker 4: out there. That has been their achilles heel all year long.
- 10:07Speaker 4: They needed not a starting pitcher that you know, top
- 10:11Speaker 4: of the rotation or playoff pitcher. They needed someone that
- 10:14Speaker 4: could eat innings at the back end. They weren't able
- 10:17Speaker 4: to get that at the deadline. Part of the reason
- 10:19Speaker 4: is that Atlanta went and got Tyler.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Malley, who was available at a very cheap price.
- 10:23Speaker 4: So I thought being able to get Lane Thomas and
- 10:27Speaker 4: Tyler Malley at the price that they did, I thought
- 10:30Speaker 4: Alex did a really good job, and more importantly, I
- 10:32Speaker 4: think he prevented the Phillies from getting those two guys.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I think if the Phillies that.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Added Malley and Thomas with what they already did with
- 10:38Speaker 4: the Rise and the two relievers, they would have had
- 10:41Speaker 4: a shot at least of catching Atlanta. You know, now
- 10:44Speaker 4: they have to sweat out the back of their rotation
- 10:47Speaker 4: between now and October just to get there.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Okay, back to the Brewers for a moment, because they're
- 10:56Speaker 2: on this list too. For the bus. So did you
- 11:00Speaker 2: feel like a two part questionnaire? Let's start here, sends
- 11:03Speaker 2: a tella Dustin May, Jojo Romero. Do the Brewers have
- 11:07Speaker 2: a chance at beating the Dodgers if they match up
- 11:09Speaker 2: again in the postseason this year?
- 11:11Speaker 5: No?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Okay, no, No, they needed they needed school.
- 11:16Speaker 1: If they didn't wa wait, hold up, pulled up.
- 11:20Speaker 5: I know, JB.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Even taking that aside for a moment, I'm going to
- 11:24Speaker 2: still try to craft an offer to woo you. But
- 11:26Speaker 2: before we get to that, anybody else on the market
- 11:29Speaker 2: that maybe would have given them more of a boost.
- 11:31Speaker 2: And yes, I know that some of these guys, Jojo
- 11:34Speaker 2: and sends a telegoon to the bullpen Gray, I'm sure
- 11:37Speaker 2: they'll do nice things there. Dustin May, Okay, I don't
- 11:39Speaker 2: know if he's starting a playoff game for them. He's
- 11:41Speaker 2: definitely not going more than once through the lineup. Knowing
- 11:43Speaker 2: how the Brewers operate, Clay Holmes Freddy seemed like they
- 11:47Speaker 2: weren't as interested anybody else on the starting pitching list,
- 11:50Speaker 2: even like a Soriano go down the line. Was there
- 11:52Speaker 2: anyone else that the Brewers could have commanded that would
- 11:55Speaker 2: have been in their top three to start a playoff game.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I felt like I saw other guys that were moved.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why they didn't get an A or B
- 12:02Speaker 4: plus or a B. That's why they got the grade
- 12:04Speaker 4: that they did because they didn't get Soriano, they didn't
- 12:08Speaker 4: get Mys. I would have taken Ray, I would have
- 12:09Speaker 4: taken all those guys you know over Dustin May.
- 12:13Speaker 1: So.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of choices out there, Ree Debtner's perhaps
- 12:16Speaker 4: could have been gotten. I mean, the Brewers have a
- 12:18Speaker 4: very deep farm system, and they certainly could have gotten
- 12:22Speaker 4: if they didn't want to do Schooble with Maday, I
- 12:24Speaker 4: get that. But that being said, they did have enough
- 12:29Speaker 4: to go get Schooble without ma Day in my opinion,
- 12:32Speaker 4: and they certainly had enough to get anybody else more
- 12:35Speaker 4: than above any other team. They could have done it
- 12:38Speaker 4: and they didn't. So hopefully, you know, Harrison will come
- 12:42Speaker 4: back and be what he was in April, and May,
- 12:45Speaker 4: hopefully May will step up. Hopefully, you know, Logan Henderson
- 12:48Speaker 4: and Sproute will be able to do what they do.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I know they tried to get Freddy Peralta. They felt
- 12:52Speaker 4: like they could fix him, but Tampa came in and
- 12:54Speaker 4: paid more than they were willing to do, and I'm
- 12:56Speaker 4: not sure the Mets president David Stearns wanted to return
- 12:59Speaker 4: them to the Brewers at twenty five cents on the dollars,
- 13:02Speaker 4: so that probably lessened their chances of acquiring him.
- 13:06Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean I wish they had done more.
- 13:07Speaker 4: But Dustin May and Senzatela is better than not doing anything.
- 13:12Speaker 3: At least you got better. He added two arms plus Romerow.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Okay, can I I just before my head might explode here,
- 13:20Speaker 5: So you just said they could have got Scooble without
- 13:22Speaker 5: giving up my day.
- 13:24Speaker 1: So no, no, he said no.
- 13:26Speaker 5: He just said they could have. He just said they
- 13:28Speaker 5: could have gone see did look?
- 13:30Speaker 4: I mean, look, I think they didn't wanted I think
- 13:35Speaker 4: the Tigers really wanted hope. But the Brewers could have
- 13:39Speaker 4: put a ridiculous package out there right Lewis Paygna and
- 13:43Speaker 4: Laura Pratt, I mean, there has to be away with
- 13:48Speaker 4: the farm system they have. You could have brought the
- 13:51Speaker 4: Brinks truck up and loaded it and sended it over
- 13:54Speaker 4: to Detroit and you could have had Schooble. And I
- 13:56Speaker 4: would have tried to do that myself. Now, long term
- 14:00Speaker 4: probably wouldn't be great for the employment line long term.
- 14:03Speaker 4: But to win a world championship, I would have offered
- 14:08Speaker 4: everything outside of my day. Let's try to make it work,
- 14:11Speaker 4: and I would have tried to make it work. And
- 14:12Speaker 4: I would have tried to also get Mys with him,
- 14:15Speaker 4: like I don't mind unloading this system. I'm gonna win
- 14:18Speaker 4: right now, but let me go get schoobl and Mys
- 14:19Speaker 4: to put with Mansarowski, because I am that close to
- 14:23Speaker 4: a world championship. But I got to get through the Dodgers,
- 14:26Speaker 4: and the only way to get through the Dodgers and
- 14:28Speaker 4: all probability is going to be Schooble, right, if you all,
- 14:31Speaker 4: if we all want to be realistic, that's the one
- 14:33Speaker 4: shot you have. And yeah, it didn't work out, didn't play,
- 14:37Speaker 4: so it is what it is.
- 14:38Speaker 3: So yeah, so.
- 14:39Speaker 5: They're gonna be happy playing the Dodgers again getting swept.
- 14:41Speaker 5: But hey, guys, we made it to the playoffs again.
- 14:44Speaker 5: That's a fan of me. I'm sorry, Jim, that's the
- 14:46Speaker 5: fan of me looking at it from the outside. Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Now, and that's why all wonder you're gonna hear why
- 14:52Speaker 4: the owners want to shut the game down for a
- 14:54Speaker 4: salary cap.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Okay, yes, so let's say that Brewers who gotta make
- 15:00Speaker 5: go On win the World Series. That ends all that.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Scott has a conspiracy theory. I don't believe in those,
- 15:05Speaker 5: but Scott does.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Right, But that's always going to bring up.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But like Louis Pania, like Jim saying Louis Pania, maybe
- 15:10Speaker 2: Henderson if they wanted more of an immediate impact guy,
- 15:13Speaker 2: and then start going down the line of maybe their
- 15:15Speaker 2: other you know, Tyson Harden, Bishop lets In, Andrew Fisher, right,
- 15:20Speaker 2: like there's.
- 15:20Speaker 5: A check check.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I like some of these names that check check check.
- 15:23Speaker 5: See you guys, right, But.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Like that that doesn't affect like I do this. I've
- 15:29Speaker 2: still got like eight guys I like in their system
- 15:31Speaker 2: that I think can impact the major league club without
- 15:33Speaker 2: even touching Laura and Pratt because that could send a
- 15:35Speaker 2: bad message to trade away a guy that you just extended.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I don't even think you needed those guys in the
- 15:40Speaker 2: deal to get a shinier package than what the Dodgers
- 15:43Speaker 2: gave up.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Look, Scott, I agree with you completely. If aj Preller
- 15:46Speaker 4: was one of the was running the Brewers, he would
- 15:48Speaker 4: have gotten Schooble. If Jerry Depoto was running the Brewers,
- 15:51Speaker 4: he would have gotten Schooble. Craig Breslo would have gotten Schooble,
- 15:54Speaker 4: I would have gotten Schooble. So I mean yes, I
- 15:57Speaker 4: mean organizations like though you know they they want to
- 16:02Speaker 4: be around every single year and to be around every
- 16:04Speaker 4: single year. The one area where Milwaukee is beating everybody
- 16:08Speaker 4: is amateur scouting and building a farm system. They're crushing
- 16:12Speaker 4: people in the Midwest. It's not even close. They're telling
- 16:15Speaker 4: the other twenty nine teams, we're the Dodgers of scouting
- 16:19Speaker 4: eighteen year olds in the Midwest. That's what we are.
- 16:23Speaker 4: That's our strength. That we're not going to give that up,
- 16:25Speaker 4: not for one player, not for two months.
- 16:28Speaker 3: That's the decision that they made.
- 16:29Speaker 4: And look, you're allowed to do that when you own
- 16:31Speaker 4: a team, where you're running a team, that's your call.
- 16:34Speaker 6: You know.
- 16:34Speaker 4: I'm in AJ's camp, right, I just want that one
- 16:37Speaker 4: World championship because you get that for life.
- 16:39Speaker 3: You know.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Ye, My World Series ring might be in a safe
- 16:42Speaker 4: deposit box, but I get it for life in there.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I mean, the bank get it, and everyone gets in life.
- 16:48Speaker 5: And Jim, you know that the first question someone asks
- 16:50Speaker 5: you is not how many times did you make the
- 16:52Speaker 5: playoffs or were you in the running every year? Have
- 16:54Speaker 5: you ever won a World Series? And that's what you
- 16:56Speaker 5: can say. Yes, it's a very special club.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah it's white.
- 16:59Speaker 3: People even give baseballs to the Pope because of it.
- 17:02Speaker 2: So yeah, exactly, it changes your life. All right, let's
- 17:06Speaker 2: keep rolling. We'll go quicker here. So let's get to
- 17:08Speaker 2: the bottom of your buyer's list and just pick out
- 17:09Speaker 2: a team or two C plus for the Twins and Rangers,
- 17:12Speaker 2: C minus for the Astros, D plus for the Diamondbacks.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I have a feeling I know where you want to go,
- 17:16Speaker 1: but I'll let you run it.
- 17:18Speaker 3: So I'll go anywhere you want. I mean, you tell me.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I mean, look the.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Diamond Back like, well here, I'm wearing their shirt. Can
- 17:24Speaker 2: we start here with Snake's territory? So JB like, did
- 17:27Speaker 2: you think?
- 17:27Speaker 1: I mean?
- 17:27Speaker 2: I like the Diamondbacks? So why did they mostly sit out?
- 17:30Speaker 2: Besides a little bit of an offensive touch with Newpark and.
- 17:34Speaker 4: I gave them the worst grade I could possibly get.
- 17:36Speaker 4: I don't give fs at the deadline. I mean I
- 17:37Speaker 4: gave him a.
- 17:38Speaker 3: D a dog.
- 17:39Speaker 4: I mean Lars newpar Is a fourth outfielder for me,
- 17:42Speaker 4: I never understood it.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Look, they needed bullpen help.
- 17:46Speaker 4: They needed offense, They're in second place, they have a
- 17:48Speaker 4: chance for a wild card. They get new Bar and
- 17:52Speaker 4: the Padres go get miz and Ray. What else do
- 17:55Speaker 4: we want to talk about? I mean, I know they've
- 17:56Speaker 4: got starting pitchers coming off the injured list.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I get it.
- 17:59Speaker 4: I know that they're strapped dollar wise, apparently that they
- 18:02Speaker 4: didn't have a lot to work with. They want to
- 18:05Speaker 4: hold on some of their prospects.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I get it. But no, you know, you're in second.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Place, you're ahead of the Padres, you get a chance
- 18:10Speaker 4: for a wild card, and Lars newt Bar is your headliner.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, come on, let's just move on. Let's
- 18:16Speaker 3: just move on.
- 18:17Speaker 2: What about the Astros c minus they get Dalton Varshow
- 18:20Speaker 2: what else did you need to see that?
- 18:22Speaker 4: They they actually traded for Trevor Larnish and it was next,
- 18:25Speaker 4: although that was not confirmed by the Astros or Twins,
- 18:28Speaker 4: but everybody's telling me what happened.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 18:32Speaker 4: You know, they needed a starting pitcher, they needed Foster Griffin.
- 18:35Speaker 3: They were in on it to the very end.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Guardian's farm system was better, and so the Guardians got
- 18:41Speaker 4: him simply and they gave up a lot to get him,
- 18:43Speaker 4: but that that was the key deal they needed badly.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Look I like Varshow a year ago, I mean like
- 18:49Speaker 4: a year ago, where was he slugging five forty with
- 18:51Speaker 4: twenty homers and playing go glob center field.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And this year.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I don't know if it's the pressure of free agency
- 18:55Speaker 4: or what it was. But he's only twenty nine years old.
- 18:58Speaker 4: I mean, I think he probably helps, but I don't
- 19:00Speaker 4: think they did enough. I really don't. And I've said
- 19:03Speaker 4: this before, and I know a lot of people think
- 19:04Speaker 4: Houston's going to win this division. They're playing great the momentum.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I'm not sleeping on the Mariners guys. I mean, they've
- 19:11Speaker 4: cleared up the starting rotation issue. They got Kate Anderson coming,
- 19:14Speaker 4: he got another baton Taylor Ward. At some point, Seal
- 19:18Speaker 4: is going to put this thing together, and I think
- 19:19Speaker 4: Houston's going to regret not doing more at the deadline.
- 19:24Speaker 2: This is that time of year, AJ, It is Baseball's
- 19:27Speaker 2: time to shine, and it is sea Geek's time to
- 19:30Speaker 2: shine with MLB tickets and finding the best pricing seating
- 19:35Speaker 2: and games that are even sold out available on sea geek.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Absolutely, if you want to go to the biggest matchups,
- 19:42Speaker 5: coming up. We have Yankees Cubs coming up. Where's Yankees
- 19:44Speaker 5: Red Sox? That means stuff Again, there's some big moments
- 19:47Speaker 5: that are coming up here. And as the penachases really
- 19:50Speaker 5: heat up, go to seke can find those green tickets
- 19:53Speaker 5: with the best deals and get yourself out to an
- 19:55Speaker 5: MLB game.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're straightforward with you.
- 19:58Speaker 2: They will actually put a right dot next to a
- 20:01Speaker 2: ticket that they don't feel is your best. Look. Green
- 20:05Speaker 2: dot means very good code for you. It's Territory ten
- 20:10Speaker 2: ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets at Seakeek.
- 20:13Speaker 2: That's ten percent off MLB tickets when you use the
- 20:16Speaker 2: promo code Territory one zero. Make sure you click the
- 20:19Speaker 2: link in the description to download the app and have
- 20:21Speaker 2: the code automatically added to your account so you can
- 20:23Speaker 2: use it later.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I'm with Al West. This has been weird this year.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Buy your seller list. You've got two teams, the Blue
- 20:29Speaker 2: Jays and Nationals both get a bee.
- 20:31Speaker 1: So you're like, okay, it's pretty good, right.
- 20:34Speaker 4: I thought Toronto really balanced it well. I give high
- 20:38Speaker 4: marks to Ross Atkins and Mark Shaparwer. It's really hard
- 20:41Speaker 4: to do what they did, but they traded the expiring
- 20:44Speaker 4: contracts Kevin Gosman. See you later, right, we talked about
- 20:47Speaker 4: Dalton varshow they traded Jeff Hoffman and at the same
- 20:50Speaker 4: time they bought right and they brought in Jose Soriano,
- 20:53Speaker 4: which was absolutely huge for next year. And they did
- 20:56Speaker 4: well on their selling with the Cubs in Gosman. So
- 21:00Speaker 4: I thought they balanced buying and selling tremendously for the Nationals.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I loved the I love the common early trade.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I know, you know he's.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Injured when they got them, but I mean to get
- 21:10Speaker 4: a young left handed starter who's under a year of
- 21:13Speaker 4: service time for the middle of your rotation for years
- 21:16Speaker 4: to come, and not arbitration eligible for three years.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I thought that was a huge pickup for them.
- 21:20Speaker 4: And you know, I thought for the Lewis Garcia deal,
- 21:22Speaker 4: they got four arms, right, I mean, two starters, two relievers.
- 21:26Speaker 4: They did a really good job of stockpiling pitchers, so
- 21:29Speaker 4: I thought they did really well as well. And kind
- 21:31Speaker 4: of in between buying and selling.
- 21:33Speaker 2: And then your seller's list, so we'll pick out a
- 21:36Speaker 2: few teams from this one. I think we've spoken a
- 21:39Speaker 2: decent amount about the Tigers already, and you gave them
- 21:41Speaker 2: an A. The Giants get an AIM minus. They were sellers.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I want to get to more of the interesting buy
- 21:48Speaker 2: sell or. I guess it was mostly sell but weird situations.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Where are we at on Baltimore JB? So they get
- 21:53Speaker 2: a B plus. They mostly sold, but they didn't sell
- 21:56Speaker 2: everything right, So it's like if you're selling your parts away.
- 21:59Speaker 2: We were just criticizing them. How do they not trade
- 22:01Speaker 2: away Trevor Rodgers? Do they think they're still in it
- 22:04Speaker 2: despite trading away Adley Rutchman and Taylor Ward?
- 22:08Speaker 1: And was there someone else? There were those of the
- 22:09Speaker 1: two big boys?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Okay, so what happened here with Dean Kramer? And what
- 22:15Speaker 2: would you have done? Like, should they have of course
- 22:18Speaker 2: traded another guy that's a rental?
- 22:20Speaker 4: I mean Trevor Rodgers was the guy they needed to trade,
- 22:23Speaker 4: you know, with the prices people were paying. I mean,
- 22:25Speaker 4: why isn't he in Milwaukee Brewer today?
- 22:28Speaker 3: You know, you tell me why he's not?
- 22:29Speaker 4: Right after they lost out on school, I mean, isn't
- 22:32Speaker 4: isn't that way you're going after next? I mean so yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 4: I mean, look, they they they only sold, they didn't buy.
- 22:38Speaker 4: They said the week before Michael Oyas came out publicly
- 22:42Speaker 4: and said we're going to buy in sell and balance it.
- 22:44Speaker 3: That's not what he did. He only sold.
- 22:47Speaker 5: You know, the.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Retimen return isn't as great as it's being reported, but
- 22:51Speaker 4: the fact that anytime in this industry that you get
- 22:53Speaker 4: three of someone's top five prospects, everyone thinks, oh wow,
- 22:57Speaker 4: you know, some of those guys are overrated. I got
- 22:59Speaker 4: to be honest with you, right, I love the pitcher
- 23:01Speaker 4: I and Send. I think that is legitimate. I think
- 23:03Speaker 4: Witherspoon was the first round picks overrated, to be honest.
- 23:07Speaker 4: So I thought Baltimore, you know, look, they did what
- 23:10Speaker 4: they wanted to do with Rutchman. They weren't going to
- 23:12Speaker 4: extend him. They came to the conclusion that they would
- 23:16Speaker 4: get more at this deadline than they would in the offseason,
- 23:18Speaker 4: and I think that's accurate. So I thought they got
- 23:21Speaker 4: a solid return there. So Dean Kramer, I would have
- 23:25Speaker 4: moved on from him as well, especially after he showed
- 23:27Speaker 4: up Pete Alonso on that play at first base, which
- 23:30Speaker 4: I'd have moved him right away as well. I didn't
- 23:33Speaker 4: like that at all, and I was finally moving on
- 23:34Speaker 4: from him. But Rogers was the one thing that they
- 23:38Speaker 4: also probably should have moved unless they think they can
- 23:41Speaker 4: sign him a long term and perhaps there's some negotiations
- 23:44Speaker 4: going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.
- 23:46Speaker 4: So if we read that Rogers is extended, then I'm
- 23:48Speaker 4: okay with them not trading him. So we'll find out,
- 23:51Speaker 4: obviously in the next couple of weeks if they were
- 23:53Speaker 4: able to extend him.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean eight years with Michael ISAs they've been
- 23:57Speaker 2: kind of rebuild seller mode for six of them, which
- 23:59Speaker 2: is getting concerning at this point.
- 24:02Speaker 4: And to your point, Scott, and we've talked about this
- 24:04Speaker 4: on the show many times, they're collectors. They don't put
- 24:08Speaker 4: a team together, right, They collect all this talent, but
- 24:12Speaker 4: they're not putting a team together, and that's why they
- 24:14Speaker 4: are where they are. On the other side, I find
- 24:17Speaker 4: it fascinating all the hate that Craig Breslo gets in
- 24:20Speaker 4: Boston and yet he's putting a team together. He's not
- 24:24Speaker 4: collecting prospects, He's putting together a team to win. And
- 24:29Speaker 4: no one got criticized more on the two trades, the
- 24:31Speaker 4: one with Washington that he made and the one with
- 24:34Speaker 4: Baltimore that he made. And I keep telling everyone, Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 4: but did you see the pieces he's getting. He actually
- 24:40Speaker 4: knows what he's doing. Curtis Meat is what they needed,
- 24:43Speaker 4: or right, a hitting infielder with power, that's a pull
- 24:46Speaker 4: hitter for.
- 24:47Speaker 3: The wall at Fenway Park.
- 24:48Speaker 4: What he needed was an upgrade defensively and offensively, a
- 24:51Speaker 4: catcher with Adley Rutchman like he's putting. He needed another reliever.
- 24:55Speaker 4: He goes get Eric Miller and everyone. How can you
- 24:58Speaker 4: trade Marcel Meyer? He never got shot and this and that, well,
- 25:01Speaker 4: I watched him a lot. I don't know how much
- 25:02Speaker 4: it's gonna hit. I'll be honest with you, and I
- 25:04Speaker 4: don't even care if he loses the deal because what
- 25:06Speaker 4: Breslo is doing, he's building a championship team. Look at
- 25:11Speaker 4: the job he has done since he's been there. I
- 25:13Speaker 4: mean so the criticism he gets in Boston, to me
- 25:16Speaker 4: is absolutely absurd because I don't think people are paying attention.
- 25:19Speaker 4: And I'll say it one more time, gms don't get
- 25:21Speaker 4: paid to win trade, you get paid to win championships.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Love it and yeah, we loved what the Red Sox
- 25:26Speaker 2: did the last few days. And for the Orioles, I'm
- 25:29Speaker 2: gonna you're too nice collectors.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I'll go hoarders over the last decade. At this point,
- 25:34Speaker 1: they're hoarding.
- 25:35Speaker 2: All right, let's finish up the list, So just read
- 25:38Speaker 2: for the crowd and then AJ will finish with the
- 25:39Speaker 2: question for you. So you had the Angels with a B,
- 25:42Speaker 2: Mets and Cardinals B minus C plus for the Marlins,
- 25:44Speaker 2: Royals and Rockies get a CE, and the two D
- 25:46Speaker 2: teams are what I think AJ wants to ask you about.
- 25:49Speaker 5: Why didn't they do anything? The Athletics and the Reds.
- 25:51Speaker 5: I mean the Reds, I guess got rid of Kirby Yates, right,
- 25:54Speaker 5: that was their big move, didn't they get rid of
- 25:56Speaker 5: Kirby hs? And Yeah, he's the only team who didn't
- 25:59Speaker 5: do anything. They didn't do one major league trade. Are
- 26:02Speaker 5: they that good that they don't need any help?
- 26:05Speaker 4: So here's what David Force said. He did not want
- 26:08Speaker 4: to sell because we're building. And even though we're not
- 26:11Speaker 4: in a pennant race and we're not contenders, doesn't mean
- 26:14Speaker 4: we should sell because they're building for Las Vegas in
- 26:17Speaker 4: twenty twenty eight. I think what is disappointing is they
- 26:20Speaker 4: weren't able to add any pitching to the system. I
- 26:23Speaker 4: think that's my criticism. You couldn't take one of those
- 26:25Speaker 4: outfielders and turn it into pitching. Like So to me,
- 26:29Speaker 4: I'm okay, the I'm not selling. I get what they're doing.
- 26:31Speaker 4: I'm on board with the plan, I get it. But
- 26:34Speaker 4: this is a deadline where I needed Dad pitching. So
- 26:36Speaker 4: that's how I feel with the Athletics.
- 26:37Speaker 3: With the Reds, you can't blame them. They all took
- 26:40Speaker 3: ambient in the morning.
- 26:43Speaker 8: They all asleep. They weren't there. Look, they didn't buy,
- 26:48Speaker 8: they didn't sell. They thought it was football. Fourth down,
- 26:51Speaker 8: they punted, took ambient, went to bed.
- 26:54Speaker 3: They can't blame them. They were sleeping.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Isn't the point of rebuilding though, trading your tradable pieces
- 26:59Speaker 5: if you have any, and getting prospects back for years
- 27:03Speaker 5: down the road. I e. What the Athletics, if they're
- 27:05Speaker 5: trying to build for Las Vegas in two years, shouldn't
- 27:08Speaker 5: they have traded anything they could have to get better
- 27:10Speaker 5: for two years from now.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd be both the Athletics and red should have traded.
- 27:15Speaker 4: And heck, maybe they should have traded with each other.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Maybe Hunter Green should have been the one traded to
- 27:19Speaker 4: the Athletics. You know, I just don't understand when you
- 27:24Speaker 4: get to a trade deadline. I don't understand teams that
- 27:26Speaker 4: don't make moves.
- 27:27Speaker 3: It doesn't make any sense to me, because now you
- 27:30Speaker 3: know when.
- 27:30Speaker 4: You can't make move August, September and October, you can't
- 27:33Speaker 4: make a move outside a waiver claim or a promotion
- 27:36Speaker 4: in the minor leagues or signing a minor league free agent.
- 27:38Speaker 3: But now you're shut down. Your business is done until November.
- 27:42Speaker 3: That's it.
- 27:43Speaker 4: And by the way, when you get to November, there's
- 27:44Speaker 4: free agents and the trade value goes down, and you know,
- 27:48Speaker 4: it's just this is the time of year where everyone
- 27:50Speaker 4: gets emotional, people make bad moves, and you gotta take
- 27:55Speaker 4: advantage of it. You got to sit there and do it. So, yeah,
- 27:57Speaker 4: we had a handful of teams that.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Didn't for GMS. Now, yeah, that's an take off their
- 28:02Speaker 5: sweater vest and put on their Hawaiian.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Shirt and quick housekeeping. Kirby Yates. He went from the Angels,
- 28:08Speaker 1: Oh sorry, sorry, the Red trade to the Pirates.
- 28:11Speaker 2: The Red traded Caleb Ferguson and Nathaniel Low that's right, sorry, Bravo, Yes, Cincinnati,
- 28:17Speaker 2: and lay off the ambient.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Okay, they're not sponsored by them. JB.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Great to catch up and awesome,
- 28:24Speaker 2: awesome job yesterday. I followed it all, I read it all.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Thank you. We'll talk to you next week.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Appreciate you guys.
- 28:30Speaker 2: YouTube and JB's on GM Territory, they had an episode
- 28:33Speaker 2: every day leading up to the trade deadline, then of
- 28:35Speaker 2: course on trade deadline day shows awesome. It's getting a
- 28:37Speaker 2: huge pop on YouTube right now, as it should.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Go check it out.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Hey, let's show a tweet for two minutes here on
- 28:45Speaker 2: what John Mizzailak did. Ratt Bollinger, who covers the team,
- 28:49Speaker 2: said Mo spoke with Trout a few weeks ago. They
- 28:51Speaker 2: decided he wouldn't be on the market, so no offers.
- 28:54Speaker 2: He didn't even take any offers, he said. Trout was
- 28:56Speaker 2: invited into the trade room a few days ago just
- 28:58Speaker 2: to see what the process is like.
- 29:00Speaker 1: That's nice.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Cool, Hey, Mike, come in here just you can see
- 29:07Speaker 5: that you're not going to get traded. This is cool.
- 29:11Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean, let's give you a tour, Mike.
- 29:14Speaker 1: That's like the kid going into the cockpit and seeing.
- 29:17Speaker 5: Yes, the pilot. Hey, this is how we like if
- 29:20Speaker 5: you want to plane, Hey, Jimmy.
- 29:21Speaker 1: You want wings glad does he get wings.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Seen a gun naked? He gets a halo?
- 29:27Speaker 1: Halo, you got a little halo. Thanks for coming into
- 29:30Speaker 1: our trade war room.
- 29:33Speaker 5: I don't I don't know that cool. I mean, I
- 29:35Speaker 5: don't know cool, like I don't know. I mean, it's
- 29:39Speaker 5: pretty cool that he did this. But listen, Mike Trout,
- 29:42Speaker 5: John Mozilla, Mike Trout doesn't win, Guys, I'm done talking
- 29:45Speaker 5: about Mike truck getting He.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Doesn't want to be traded.
- 29:47Speaker 5: He's not going to be traded. He's going to play
- 29:49Speaker 5: out his career in Anaheim. He's going to finish his
- 29:51Speaker 5: career with zero playoff wins unless something drastically changes in
- 29:55Speaker 5: Los Angeles, and he's gonna be one of the biggest letdowns.
- 29:59Speaker 5: Is a fan of my Trout ever, because there was
- 30:02Speaker 5: just so much potential there and they just never could
- 30:04Speaker 5: get it right. They had think about this that one
- 30:06Speaker 5: time they had arguably the two best players in the
- 30:10Speaker 5: game on the same team and couldn't even come close
- 30:14Speaker 5: to getting to the postseason.
- 30:15Speaker 2: In a time period where many more teams make the
- 30:19Speaker 2: postseason in the past, you know, like if this was
- 30:22Speaker 2: nineteen fifties or something. Yeah, there's so many more teams involved.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Today's episode is sponsored by the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Program.

- 30:45Speaker 5: thing for her.

- 31:32Speaker 2: in the business of insurance at Baseball World on Twitter
- 31:36Speaker 2: with this one last night, I always like these some
- 31:38Speaker 2: players I'm shocked didn't get traded, and he added more
- 31:40Speaker 2: in their replies. But he started with Tyler Stevenson, Brady Singer,
- 31:43Speaker 2: Labor Torres, Kenny Jansen, Jake McCarthy, Mickey Moniac. You can
- 31:46Speaker 2: cross off because after that he ended up signing an
- 31:48Speaker 2: extension for a couple of years with the Rockies last night.
- 31:51Speaker 2: But the rentals right, Trevor Rodgers we mentioned a few times.
- 31:57Speaker 2: So if you're selling, sell anybody that's Scott one year,
- 32:01Speaker 2: even Luis Robert.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Did you see what they said about him?
- 32:06Speaker 5: Though I sent him, we're super excited about having the
- 32:08Speaker 5: last two months with him, and we have that we're
- 32:12Speaker 5: going to pick up what the nobody wants to be
- 32:15Speaker 5: the one again, nobody wants to be the one that
- 32:20Speaker 5: he turns around.
- 32:21Speaker 2: You're not trading him because he has a twenty million
- 32:23Speaker 2: dollar club option to say.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I mean the Mets were dumb enough to trade for him,
- 32:28Speaker 1: they might eventually say nobody wanted him. They might.
- 32:30Speaker 5: I'm serious, the Mets dumb enough to trade for him
- 32:33Speaker 5: this offseason after the White Sox picked up their option.
- 32:36Speaker 2: They thought they had a plan down and it hasn't worked.
- 32:38Speaker 2: And you can't I mean, in fairness to David Searns,
- 32:41Speaker 2: he can't go in the post press conference after the
- 32:42Speaker 2: trade down LA nobody wanted him. It would be an
- 32:46Speaker 2: epic throwdown. But you can't say that right now.
- 32:49Speaker 5: You can.
- 32:50Speaker 2: It's possible that was the case where people like you
- 32:53Speaker 2: know what, not worth the cash, too risky, like we
- 32:57Speaker 2: talked about yesterday, to lose the roster spot if he
- 32:59Speaker 2: gets hurt again and it's just not working for him
- 33:02Speaker 2: consistently on the field, and you're a playoff contender, Sure,
- 33:06Speaker 2: maybe you take a flyer on him, but nobody wanted to.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Yeah, or the Mets really love him and they wanted
- 33:10Speaker 1: to keep.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Him for the Abram here's the list. You know. Abrams
- 33:14Speaker 5: wasn't going to get traded netto Yeah, I think he's
- 33:16Speaker 5: too valuable. Mason Miller wasn't going anywhere once the pottery's
- 33:19Speaker 5: got hot, Joe Ryan, the Twins are in it, Hunter Goodman,
- 33:21Speaker 5: no read Debt Meers is surprising because the Angels are
- 33:24Speaker 5: kind of trying to trade everybody. Otto Lopezevir Edwards, Marlins
- 33:28Speaker 5: and we never know what they're going to do. Seya Suzuki.
- 33:29Speaker 5: They're trying to win a contra Marlins Parades are trying
- 33:33Speaker 5: to win. Hancock, they traded Castillo, opened him up. Jeffers
- 33:36Speaker 5: are trying to win. Michael King, they're trying to win
- 33:38Speaker 5: more Home. They're trying to win. Now, when you get
- 33:40Speaker 5: to the Reds, Lodolo, who knows what they're doing. He's optioned.
- 33:44Speaker 5: So that's why I didn't trade him. Kristian Walker, they're
- 33:47Speaker 5: trying to win. I don't know. Matchall would have been
- 33:51Speaker 5: a good one, but I don't know. What do you
- 33:55Speaker 5: have much value right now? Matt Schall?
- 33:56Speaker 2: You can probably build up more and also it gives
- 33:58Speaker 2: them depth and they didn't have to trade him.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, Glabor Torres, that's one. If the Tigers aren't
- 34:02Speaker 5: going for it, then why not trade Glabor Torus. He's
- 34:04Speaker 5: a free agency they got off qualifying off him again
- 34:07Speaker 5: and have.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Him accept it. You can't do it twice, I know.
- 34:10Speaker 5: So that's the point.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I mean, someone could have used Douse.
- 34:15Speaker 5: He signed it next year.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Yeah, they wanted to keep him in logo.
- 34:18Speaker 6: That was their choice.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Oh, I love when we have time during slap pands
- 34:35Speaker 2: Question of the day, we can retee it just so
- 34:39Speaker 2: you see it and you can reply to it. Still,
- 34:41Speaker 2: but we have some answers. We pulled rate your team's
- 34:43Speaker 2: trade deadline performance. We'll start with butch red SOX solid
- 34:49Speaker 2: B plus.
- 34:51Speaker 5: Okay, we'll see when athlete comes back. That's we don't know.
- 34:55Speaker 1: M M.
- 34:55Speaker 2: But if you had to rate them right now, that's
- 34:57Speaker 2: a pretty fair great athlet.
- 35:00Speaker 5: I love the wish Curtis me. Did you get hurt
- 35:02Speaker 5: on the first to bat?
- 35:04Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:04Speaker 2: A minus for me. You got one of the better
- 35:07Speaker 2: catchers in baseball. You got a reliever who's capable of
- 35:11Speaker 2: doing big things for you. He's got to watch the control.
- 35:14Speaker 2: But the rest of it's there. For Eric Miller, I
- 35:17Speaker 2: like it. Let's get to Eric. Eric right, Rockies, I
- 35:23Speaker 2: would rate it a C. Glad good, min Moniac and
- 35:25Speaker 2: MacArthur's staying. Could have dealt Castro, Chicano, Lorenzo and Freeland.
- 35:30Speaker 1: He had no offense.
- 35:31Speaker 2: I'm not going to point out everyone's name here, but
- 35:33Speaker 2: some of those guys, probably.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Sigano is actually having a good year.
- 35:37Speaker 2: He is, but some of those guys might not have
- 35:39Speaker 2: been getting the big ask.
- 35:44Speaker 6: This year.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Well, Colorado is a challenge. Yeah, and in Freeland's you
- 35:53Speaker 2: know he's and he costs something. It's not the easiest
- 35:57Speaker 2: guy to trade. It's just I know he had the
- 35:58Speaker 2: complete game the other day. All that he's been there forever.
- 36:01Speaker 1: West Clark.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I love when a good gift is passed along. Jiff
- 36:07Speaker 2: thumbs down. Kevin from the office on the Reds, I'm
- 36:11Speaker 2: a fan. Jim Bowden's best answer when we spoke to him.
- 36:17Speaker 5: They took ambient sleeping.
- 36:20Speaker 2: He said it with confidence that he was like, no,
- 36:22Speaker 2: it's fine. They were sleeping, So what are they supposed
- 36:24Speaker 2: to do? You can't do things when you're sleeping. Next up,
- 36:28Speaker 2: Blue Jays from a name I don't know how to pronounce,
- 36:32Speaker 2: he said, we don't know, honestly, Clint Eastwood.
- 36:38Speaker 5: I just I think it's from the good, the bad,
- 36:40Speaker 5: and the ugly.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Blowing bubbles, We'll say.
- 36:45Speaker 5: I like what the Blue Jays did because they weren't
- 36:48Speaker 5: winning this year, so they started they kind of got
- 36:49Speaker 5: to jump on next year by getting them making the
- 36:52Speaker 5: moves they did for next year. Because if you go again,
- 36:55Speaker 5: if you go into the season with the arraghetty see
- 36:58Speaker 5: Soriano and uh you Savage. That's pretty good start to
- 37:01Speaker 5: your rotation. And in the back end of their bullpen
- 37:04Speaker 5: is solid with Varlin. They got rid of Hoffman, who
- 37:06Speaker 5: has been Homer trendy, Homer Homer loving this year right,
- 37:13Speaker 5: and got rid of his money. That was a good move. Yeah.
- 37:17Speaker 5: I like what the Blue Jays did. We'll see next
- 37:19Speaker 5: year however they are. But I like the moves they
- 37:20Speaker 5: made because they kind of jump on other teams for
- 37:22Speaker 5: the offseason.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I have more for you. Austin d Backs get a
- 37:27Speaker 2: thumbs down. Didn't address three big needs. Starting pitching, relief pitching,
- 37:32Speaker 2: first base. Someone like Luis Garcia would have looked so
- 37:36Speaker 2: good there.
- 37:38Speaker 5: That's why Jim Game a D minus. But it came
- 37:40Speaker 5: we'll give him an F.
- 37:42Speaker 1: He went as far as he could go.
- 37:44Speaker 2: There are quite a few angry Diamondbacks fans in there.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Hewitt astros D.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 37:50Speaker 2: That's a little much for me. Someone posted mid but
- 37:58Speaker 2: they didn't say which team.
- 37:59Speaker 1: They're talking about.
- 38:00Speaker 5: It doesn't help us if you don't say what you.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Don't know who you're talking about.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Cool, no way, uh Phillies F minus because of the
- 38:08Speaker 2: mixing and matching with everyone having to changed positions.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Troll troll.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Okay, someone posted just because they're on the topic. Today,
- 38:20Speaker 2: someone posted Pikachu in the Dodgers shirt.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Oh not like Michael with his socks on?
- 38:34Speaker 1: Uh?
- 38:35Speaker 5: Coach Kevin Matt's f No, No, come on.
- 38:39Speaker 2: That's too harsh. Someone else gave an a minus to
- 38:42Speaker 2: no one. Mett's got a solid B from Steve. That's fair.
- 38:47Speaker 5: By the way, Jorge Silira is now available for trades
- 38:50Speaker 5: because he was design it for someone. They couldn't find
- 38:51Speaker 5: someone to trade for him. They couldn't eat the money
- 38:53Speaker 5: and trade for him. No trade him. There's not someone
- 38:56Speaker 5: out there that couldn't say, hey, man, we can hit
- 38:58Speaker 5: homers for us.
- 38:59Speaker 1: But he's your d h.
- 39:00Speaker 5: If he's doing that, I'm aware. But there's not a
- 39:02Speaker 5: team out there that could use him to hit a
- 39:03Speaker 5: home or two, even a bench player.
- 39:06Speaker 2: He's got below average numbers this year on office. I mean,
- 39:14Speaker 2: he's had his moments, but it's not right now. The
- 39:17Speaker 2: last one. Yeahs D plus for the Yankees. Again, that's
- 39:20Speaker 2: too harsh. That is too harsh. Yes, some Yankee fans
- 39:25Speaker 2: wanted a catcher and a bullpen guy. Your offense got
- 39:29Speaker 2: much better over the last few days. Right, if that's
- 39:32Speaker 2: your one spot that's not producing, it's okay. And also,
- 39:35Speaker 2: the Yankees clearly are valuing defense at a certain level,
- 39:39Speaker 2: And Kratz was talking about this too, where he said,
- 39:41Speaker 2: you know, I think Stevenson would have been a nice
- 39:45Speaker 2: ad there. Maybe they don't value his defense high enough
- 39:50Speaker 2: to make the cut, but I think Stevenson would have
- 39:53Speaker 2: been a nice addition. Tyler Stevenson, Reds are keeping him
- 39:57Speaker 2: for funzies. All right, that was fun.
- 40:00Speaker 5: By the way, Uh, yeah, you have something else.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I was gonna say, we're staying on for a few
- 40:04Speaker 1: minutes on YouTube.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Oh yeah, so yesterday or yesterday, let's say Tuesday. Where
- 40:09Speaker 5: did I fly home? Monday? Sunday Sunday afternoon. I flew
- 40:12Speaker 5: home and I was in Chicago clearly, and uh, in
- 40:17Speaker 5: front of me in line was Andre Dawson in the
- 40:20Speaker 5: security line, and the guys stopped and took a picture
- 40:23Speaker 5: with him. And then I was like two people behind him,
- 40:27Speaker 5: and I walked by and the guy was like.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Just randomly, you and Andre Dawson are the same place.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Just so far away, and yeah, EXI line. It's pretty funny.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Great, he is a great guy.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been around him on decent super nice staying
- 40:43Speaker 2: on
