- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Welcome to the Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:12Speaker 4: Really big.
- 0:13Speaker 1: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Welcome to the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hodaki Big Show. Oh, g'day, you mad bastard.
- 0:18Speaker 3: It's great to have your company this Thursday afternoon. It
- 0:21Speaker 3: is the 1st of October, 2026, and you, my friends,
- 0:24Speaker 3: as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you
- 0:27Speaker 3: by Reburger.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 0:31Speaker 5: away Reburger today.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Mmm, yummy.
- 0:36Speaker 3: We've got casual, hot Mogi today, and he's back to
- 0:40Speaker 3: his jeans and his, what do you call those, Converse sneakers?
- 0:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 3: He's got a tight black T-shirt on. God, you're looking good, man.
- 0:47Speaker 1: How's life? Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick
- 0:49Speaker 1: son of a bitch. It's interesting that you bring up
- 0:51Speaker 1: my green Converse, because I actually saw your Converse, which
- 0:55Speaker 1: were like a greyish sort.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Of a colour.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Yeah, grey.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And I thought, ooh, I like those. Yes, yes. So
- 0:59Speaker 1: I thought I bought some, and then because I'm colourblind,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I got home and I realised, oh. No, wrong colour.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They're green. They're miles off what Jase's are, Keezy. And
- 1:09Speaker 1: my wife calls them my clown shoes. She hates them.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And now I just have to wear them like Keezy
- 1:16Speaker 1: does with his clown shoes. I just wear them to
- 1:18Speaker 1: spite everybody, even though I'm constantly mocked about it. So
- 1:22Speaker 1: other than that, man, I'm going grouse. Yeah, good, good.
- 1:24Speaker 3: How are you going, Keezy?
- 1:26Speaker 5: Yeah, good as gold. Certainly not taking, you know, Footwear
- 1:30Speaker 5: inspiration from Hoity Jizz, that's for sure. That's crazy.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Well, it's really funny, though, that you say that, because
- 1:37Speaker 3: I've got two pairs of Convoy boots. Oh, Convoy boots.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Convoy boots.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Otherwise known as Chuck Taylors.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Chuck Taylors.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Otherwise known as Convoy.
- 1:45Speaker 4: And.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I actually said to my wife, do these make me
- 1:49Speaker 3: look like a clown?
- 1:50Speaker 1: And she said, no, it's your face.
- 1:52Speaker 3: She said, no, it's more your face that makes you
- 1:54Speaker 3: look like a clown.
- 1:56Speaker 5: That big red nose.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's because they're very long, Mogi. I think you're right.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And I don't know what that is. I mean, they
- 2:03Speaker 3: fit me well, but they're just very long.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And I think you're right.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And that pains me to say that because if you're right,
- 2:10Speaker 1: it means my wife's right. And if my wife's right,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I need to stop wearing these shoes. because everybody's thinking
- 2:15Speaker 1: that I look like a clown. And it's exacerbated the
- 2:18Speaker 1: issue there because the both of us, we wear tight jeans.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And so it makes you look slightly ridiculous.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it does.
- 2:24Speaker 5: But did you know, fun fact, they are such long shoes, right?
- 2:30Speaker 4: Probably.
- 2:30Speaker 5: When they were first designed, that's why they're called convoys
- 2:33Speaker 5: because a convoy is quite long as well.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Converse, all right.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And an actual fact, there was a couple of photos,
- 2:42Speaker 3: you know, and I'm still with me wearing those, and
- 2:45Speaker 3: there was a lot of clown sort of comments. Yes.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I can't help it if I have massive feet.
- 2:53Speaker 1: You know what they say.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I do.
- 2:55Speaker 5: You could wear non-skinny jeans.
- 2:58Speaker 1: No, that's not the answer because I also have non-skinny jeans,
- 3:01Speaker 1: the blue ones that I was wearing yesterday and it's
- 3:03Speaker 1: a similar issue. My wife just hates them. In fact,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I find what happens with my wife is, and I
- 3:07Speaker 1: love her, I want to say that right up front,
- 3:11Speaker 1: is that she waits for me to buy shoes and
- 3:13Speaker 1: then I sort of find out in conversations in front
- 3:15Speaker 1: of other people. That she hates my shoes. Do you
- 3:19Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? Because she allows it. She's like, oh,
- 3:21Speaker 1: he's happy. This is important. Yes, I know, Keezy, I know.
- 3:26Speaker 3: But wait, we need to talk about this because I
- 3:28Speaker 3: was talking about this with my wife just yesterday.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Do we need to do this now? No, but we're
- 3:33Speaker 1: going to.
- 3:33Speaker 3: What's on the show, Mogi? What's happening on The Big
- 3:39Speaker 3: Show with Old Mogi?
- 3:41Speaker 1: God, this is a tightly run ship. It is. It's unbelievable.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I mean, they play this stuff for students to show
- 3:47Speaker 1: them how to do top radio DJing. Today, fellas, we've
- 3:51Speaker 1: got all sorts of exciting stuff. Number one, I'll tell you,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I've got a bone to pick with both of you bastards.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Okay. What?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah, fair enough. Jase, your daughter, your final daughter, your youngest,
- 4:00Speaker 1: is becoming older now.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:02Speaker 1: She's just gone nightclubbing, and you need some advice just
- 4:05Speaker 1: from anyone, actually. Yeah, man. Next up, Keezy has been
- 4:09Speaker 1: lighting up the group chat with this. He wants to
- 4:11Speaker 1: talk about what bread's the best.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Which bread do you eat, New Zealand? White bread or
- 4:15Speaker 5: brown bread?
- 4:16Speaker 3: I've got to be honest with you, New Zealand. He's
- 4:19Speaker 3: been banging on about this for months.
- 4:21Speaker 1: For years. Now we need to do it.
- 4:23Speaker 5: The music has run out. There's no music. It's the
- 4:25Speaker 5: first time in the history of the big show we've
- 4:26Speaker 5: talked for so long the music has stopped. Should I
- 4:30Speaker 5: play Foo Fighters? What are we.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 4:35Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 4:39Speaker 3: But all surfers there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show
- 4:43Speaker 3: this Thursday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Is this a big pole?
- 4:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess it is a big pole, Jase.
- 4:50Speaker 1: The Big Pole.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Now.
- 4:59Speaker 5: Radio Hodaki has a proud history of being a rock
- 5:02Speaker 5: and roll station.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 5:03Speaker 5: We've chatted about some pretty out there stuff. And today's
- 5:06Speaker 5: no different. Yesterday I was eating, I was going to
- 5:09Speaker 5: make a sandwich. And I went into the pantry there
- 5:12Speaker 5: and saw that we had some white death. Some white bread.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 5:17Speaker 5: And it was tip top super soft. It was a
- 5:19Speaker 5: brand new packet of. This bread.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So it was fresh.
- 5:22Speaker 5: It was fresh. And I used to eat white bread
- 5:24Speaker 5: and exclusively white bread when I was single. Then I
- 5:27Speaker 5: met my lovely wife and she was like, have brown bread.
- 5:30Speaker 5: That's better for you. and I haven't looked back until
- 5:33Speaker 5: I tried this white death yesterday, and it blew my mind.
- 5:35Speaker 5: I was like, this is the good stuff. And so
- 5:38Speaker 5: I was wanting to discuss with you guys, how do
- 5:41Speaker 5: you feel about bread, specifically white versus brown bread? Because
- 5:45Speaker 5: the white bread, even if it is bad for me,
- 5:47Speaker 5: it's one of the most delicious things in the pantry.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And I question whether it is bad for you.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like out of all of
- 5:53Speaker 1: the things that you consume, is it so bad to
- 5:56Speaker 1: have white bread?
- 5:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 3: One of my great loves in life, When I was
- 6:01Speaker 3: a teenager was when I used to be at boarding
- 6:06Speaker 3: school all week, right?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, you loved it.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And then I'd come home for the weekend after playing
- 6:10Speaker 3: cricket all afternoon, and my stepmother always had on the
- 6:14Speaker 3: table there prepared, there was fresh white bread, your champagne ham,
- 6:21Speaker 3: and your mustard. And I just, every time I came
- 6:24Speaker 3: home on a Saturday afternoon would just, Go into it.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And I literally have seven or eight sandwiches. I loved
- 6:31Speaker 3: it so much.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It's good, eh?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Completely agree. A ham sandwich. The only thing missing there
- 6:38Speaker 1: for me, Jase, is some butter. And butter, yes, of course. Now,
- 6:42Speaker 1: you can have that on any brown bread you like,
- 6:45Speaker 1: and it's not going to be the same.
- 6:46Speaker 4: No.
- 6:47Speaker 5: No way. And one of the things I used to
- 6:49Speaker 5: eat a lot of when I was a kid is
- 6:51Speaker 5: literally fresh white bread, usually the yellow packet. Is it
- 6:54Speaker 5: Nature's Fresh or something?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:56Speaker 5: With butter from the little butter conditioner, proper butter, and
- 7:00Speaker 5: then like apricot jam on it.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Oh, that's your life.
- 7:03Speaker 5: This is when I was a kid, man. I was
- 7:04Speaker 5: like five or six.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Come on.
- 7:06Speaker 5: And I would just eat like five or six slices
- 7:09Speaker 5: of white bread with butter and jam on it. And
- 7:11Speaker 5: I had it, yeah, I just.
- 7:13Speaker 3: It's one of the great joys. I mean, can we
- 7:16Speaker 3: talk sausages here, fellas?
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish we could.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Because you can't, you're not going to do a sausage
- 7:21Speaker 3: on a brown bread.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Why not?
- 7:23Speaker 1: I mean, you could. Well, because as soon as you
- 7:25Speaker 1: fold it.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it breaks in half.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 7:27Speaker 3: But a nice, fat, fresh piece of white bread, bit
- 7:31Speaker 3: of musty, bit of sauce.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Beautiful.
- 7:34Speaker 5: It is good, isn't it? And so the other day,
- 7:36Speaker 5: yesterday I made a bacon sandwich.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Again, yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Because we had bacon. We had a couple of things
- 7:42Speaker 5: of bacon left in the fridge. And I was like,
- 7:43Speaker 5: I'm going to make a white death bacon sandwich with
- 7:46Speaker 5: butter and some sauce on it. It was amazing.
- 7:50Speaker 1: So that being the case then, in what instances is
- 7:53Speaker 1: a brown bread the go-to?
- 7:54Speaker 5: Look, I.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I'll go a heavily toasted brown bread with your peanut butter.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Now, can I say with your Vogel's there? Now, that's
- 8:02Speaker 1: what your mind immediately leaps to, right? Mine's Mollenberg. Yeah,
- 8:07Speaker 1: we've got Mollenberg at the moment, but we've also got Vogel's,
- 8:09Speaker 1: so I prefer– I've got to say I think they've
- 8:12Speaker 1: changed the recipe. I think they've changed it because I'm like, eh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: it's fine. But people used to froth over a Vogel's,
- 8:21Speaker 1: and I don't froth anymore.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So what are you wanting to gauge here, Keezy, in
- 8:26Speaker 3: terms of do people prefer?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Is this what we call this?
- 8:30Speaker 5: The big poll?
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, no, something radio. Vanilla radio. Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 5: So you head to the Hodaki Big Show Instagram story
- 8:37Speaker 5: there and vote. Pugs is going to put up a
- 8:39Speaker 5: big poll. What bread's best, brown bread or white bread?
- 8:43Speaker 1: And this is just, I guess it's going to have
- 8:44Speaker 1: to be for the majority of the time. It's just,
- 8:47Speaker 1: what do you prefer? What do you prefer, white bread
- 8:49Speaker 1: or brown bread?
- 8:49Speaker 3: And knowing my audience as well as I do, I'm
- 8:52Speaker 3: predicting a heavy victory for white bread.
- 8:56Speaker 5: What about a chip butty?
- 8:58Speaker 3: Yeah, white bread.
- 8:58Speaker 5: White, fresh white bread. It's just the best, man. 3483,
- 9:01Speaker 5: you can also text us every text in the drawer
- 9:03Speaker 5: for free burger vouchers.
- 9:05Speaker 3: What else is awesome with white bread?
- 9:11Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 9:14Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Soundgarden there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon
- 9:21Speaker 3: and you're listening to Bread Chat with the fellas.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Bread Chat.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Now Keezy was just talking about the fact that he
- 9:29Speaker 3: used to love his white bread.
- 9:31Speaker 1: When I was a kid.
- 9:32Speaker 3: When you were a kid and I'm the same.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I still do to this day. Keezy, did you eat
- 9:36Speaker 1: your crust, man?
- 9:37Speaker 4: 100%?
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Love the crust.
- 9:40Speaker 3: But since he met his wife, she's gone, no, let's
- 9:42Speaker 3: be healthy and eat brown bread.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Which I got. I was like, yeah, that makes sense.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Met more grains, fiber or whatever.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Give you a good scouring out.
- 9:50Speaker 5: That's what I need. And I've been on the Molenberg
- 9:52Speaker 5: for a good 15 years straight. I've never deviated. Molenberg
- 9:55Speaker 5: toast bread.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Wow.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Now, listen, we've got Zane on the line.
- 9:59Speaker 1: G'day, Zane.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Zane, you mad bastard.
- 10:01Speaker 1: How's life? Pretty grouse, mate.
- 10:03Speaker 6: Pretty grouse. Mate, you've soon as you mentioned peanut butter
- 10:07Speaker 6: on toast. I've just been to the shop. Just picked
- 10:11Speaker 6: up myself my fresh new Swiss soy linseed by Freyers.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Gone away from the Mollenberg. I was in Mollenberg for
- 10:17Speaker 6: a good long time.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Yep.
- 10:19Speaker 6: White bread if it's the last resort. And of course,
- 10:22Speaker 6: I'm sitting here, three slices are about to stick out now.
- 10:25Speaker 6: I'm sitting there with my picks, peanut butter smooth, ready
- 10:27Speaker 6: to go. Cup of tea, ready to go. Me, the dog,
- 10:30Speaker 6: the couch, the TV, three slices of peanut butter toast
- 10:33Speaker 6: and tea.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Beautiful. Every afternoon. Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I'm living.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm hearing you, Zane. I'm hearing you.
- 10:40Speaker 5: The thing I don't like about Freya, Zane, is that
- 10:41Speaker 5: it's an annoying shape. I want a square.
- 10:46Speaker 2: What?
- 10:47Speaker 4: The shape?
- 10:49Speaker 5: The shape of the bread.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It's ridiculous.
- 10:50Speaker 5: It's like, you know, I like a perfect square so
- 10:52Speaker 5: I can cut it in half and it looks lovely,
- 10:53Speaker 5: whereas Fraser's like weird.
- 10:55Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Probably more traditional.
- 10:56Speaker 6: That's what they say about you, isn't it?
- 10:58Speaker 5: Yeah, well, exactly, Zane. Thanks for your call, mate. We'll
- 11:00Speaker 5: check your re-burger voucher.
- 11:01Speaker 4: All right?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Good on you, mate.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, guys.
- 11:03Speaker 6: Keep up the good work.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Good on you, mate. Thanks, mate. Well, it is an
- 11:06Speaker 1: interesting thing with the, because the big, you know, the
- 11:09Speaker 1: thing that's meant to be in the court of your
- 11:11Speaker 1: white bread is it's meant to be so much better
- 11:14Speaker 1: for you to have a brown bread. So it's not
- 11:16Speaker 1: even necessarily that people think that brown bread is delicious,
- 11:19Speaker 1: only that it's more healthy for you. But I've done
- 11:21Speaker 1: a side-by-side here. It feels. And there's a couple of
- 11:23Speaker 1: breads here. I'm not going to name them.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Yes, okay, fair.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I'm not going to name them.
- 11:27Speaker 1: But there's very, very little difference really between the two.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Your white bread has got six points. So I'm just
- 11:32Speaker 1: going to do white versus brown, okay? 6.1, this is
- 11:36Speaker 1: two slices of bread.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You ready, Keezy?
- 11:39Speaker 4: Yeah, ready.
- 11:39Speaker 1: White bread, 6.1 grams of protein versus 8.5 in brown. Okay.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And white bread, 33.2 grams of carbs versus 30.5 in brown.
- 11:52Speaker 1: And white bread, 2.1 grams of fiber versus 4 grams
- 11:56Speaker 1: in brown. Right, okay, so double the fiber. So it's
- 11:58Speaker 1: practically the same. It's the same thing.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Who cares?
- 12:02Speaker 5: But if you had four slices of brown bread, you're
- 12:04Speaker 5: getting double the fiber. And I know that you, Jase,
- 12:07Speaker 5: you need fiber. You've been really lacking of late.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Well, shoring up, you mean.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Yeah, well, you know exactly what I mean.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 4: But.
- 12:17Speaker 3: And as I say, I'm partial to a brown bread,
- 12:21Speaker 3: well toasted, cooled off, crunchy.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Cooled off?
- 12:24Speaker 3: Yeah, with a bit of peanut butter. But in terms
- 12:27Speaker 3: of your hams, your saucies, and just pure of your bacon,
- 12:33Speaker 3: all that stuff.
- 12:34Speaker 5: A lot of text here on 3483. So pie sandwiches
- 12:38Speaker 5: have to be white bread.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I've never had one.
- 12:41Speaker 5: You've never had a pie sandwich.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I've never had a pie sandwich.
- 12:43Speaker 3: One of the great treats in the world, Moogie.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Has to be fresh white bread for a banana sandwich.
- 12:49Speaker 1: No, I don't do banana sandwiches. I mean, I used
- 12:51Speaker 1: to do a banana sandwich.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And they're correct. It was always white bread.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 12:54Speaker 5: White bread for fairy bread.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Which is your butter and your hundreds and thousands there.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 13:00Speaker 5: White bread is the best. And also another thing is
- 13:02Speaker 5: chicken noodles.
- 13:04Speaker 1: In a sandwich or just on their own?
- 13:06Speaker 5: Chicken flavoured noodles.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yes, in a sandwich or on their own.
- 13:09Speaker 4: And they're on their own. Shit.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 13:11Speaker 5: I think it's just on their own.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Fish and chips, chip buddy, has to be white bread.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Yes, agreed.
- 13:20Speaker 5: What about this one here? White bait and mint jelly.
- 13:23Speaker 1: That's an absolute crock.
- 13:26Speaker 3: That's an aberration. That's disgusting.
- 13:28Speaker 1: That's a disgrace. I've never heard of that, and it's
- 13:30Speaker 1: probably for a reason.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Well, just on that, though, Mogi, of course, with your
- 13:34Speaker 3: white bait fritter... white.

- 14:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Well, I think it's pretty emphatic, but we'll wait for
- 14:05Speaker 3: the big poll after six, fellas.
- 14:07Speaker 1: How does that sound? That's right.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Head to the Hodaki Big Show's Instagram story. You can
- 14:11Speaker 5: vote there. White bread or brown bread. This is exciting stuff.

- 14:46Speaker 5: So the way it works is you head to tradetester.co.nz,
- 14:49Speaker 5: put together a shopping list up to the value of
- 14:52Speaker 5: two and a half grand.
- 14:53Speaker 4: No more.
- 14:54Speaker 5: And then enter, screenshot it, and enter at hodaki.co.nz slash bigdeckenergy.

- 14:59Speaker 5: Upload your photo there. We could be calling you tomorrow.
- 15:02Speaker 5: I mean, fellas, I've recently sold my house. I'm moving soon.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:06Speaker 5: And one of the prerequisites for my next house is
- 15:08Speaker 5: it has to have a nice outdoor area.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Which means I would go absolutely... I'd go off the
- 15:14Speaker 5: rails shopping at Trade Tester Files to win this one. Barbecue,
- 15:16Speaker 5: first of all.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Biggest one they've got.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Fanciest.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Well, look, the issue that I have at the moment
- 15:21Speaker 3: is that I'm apartment living.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 3: So you know what I mean? So I'm not going
- 15:26Speaker 3: to be able to, you know, do too much in
- 15:29Speaker 3: that regard unless they have like a jacuzzi.
- 15:33Speaker 1: A jacuzzi.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Well, I don't know if you can put a jacuzzi
- 15:35Speaker 5: in your apartment.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Well, I mean, why not?
- 15:37Speaker 5: Doesn't your apartment have a hot tub?
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, well, it's got a bath, but I mean, a jacuzzi.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I'd definitely get a stand-up paddleboard.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Which you can get from Trade Test.
- 15:46Speaker 4: It's unbelievable.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah, strangely enough. Look, I mean, I've been looking at
- 15:49Speaker 1: it today, and they've got over 1,400 items just in
- 15:53Speaker 1: the outdoor areas section. So there's all these other sections.
- 15:57Speaker 1: This is just in the outdoor areas section, over 1,400 items. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Unbelievable, Chris.
- 16:03Speaker 5: Certainly is. I'm just looking here. You can get tunnel houses,
- 16:08Speaker 5: which is like a house you set up and then
- 16:10Speaker 5: you grow your veggies inside, man.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah, your veggies.
- 16:15Speaker 5: You can get your 30-second spray and walk away sort
- 16:19Speaker 5: of stuff, man. You can get a DIY kit set cabin.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Well, I'm sort of working on mine at the moment,
- 16:24Speaker 1: my list to get it up to two and a
- 16:26Speaker 1: half grand because I sort of feel like I can
- 16:27Speaker 1: enter this.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:28Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 16:29Speaker 5: No, you can't.
- 16:30Speaker 1: There's a shed there. Get a shed 2.3 metres by
- 16:34Speaker 1: 1.5 metres. That's $ 4. 99.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Because I've got a pool table and I need somewhere
- 16:40Speaker 1: to be able to play, so I want to chuck
- 16:42Speaker 1: that out there.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I don't know if you'll be able to play pool
- 16:43Speaker 5: in there.
- 16:43Speaker 1: An anti-bark dog collar.
- 16:45Speaker 4: $ 79.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Oh, that's a bargain. Your dog's dead. That's a bargain.
- 16:49Speaker 3: That's a bargain.
- 16:50Speaker 4: What?
- 16:50Speaker 5: Mogi, your dog died.
- 16:51Speaker 1: No, I know, but the neighbour's dog.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Yeah, but.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Goes arse off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What else have I
- 16:56Speaker 1: got here? Soccer goalpost, $ 299.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Oh, you see, I could have that in my apartment.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Do you like soccer?
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it.
- 17:05Speaker 1: A raised dog bed, $ 59. Mogi, you don't have a dog.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It died.
- 17:10Speaker 3: That'd be good for jizz.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But it's such a bargain, $ 59. Yeah, true. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I mean, it doesn't matter if you've got a dog
- 17:16Speaker 3: or not. It'd still look cool.
- 17:17Speaker 1: A floating thermometer... $ 4. 95. Wow, that's good value.
- 17:21Speaker 5: That's usually up around the $ 6 mark.
- 17:24Speaker 1: A chicken coop.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:26Speaker 1: EcoFlex large, $ 699. Wow, EcoFlex too.
- 17:32Speaker 3: And you guys like me, have you always wanted to
- 17:34Speaker 3: own chickens?
- 17:35Speaker 1: I have owned chickens. I've owned a chicken a couple
- 17:38Speaker 1: of times. Yeah, be good.
- 17:40Speaker 5: That's so fun.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:41Speaker 5: I'm desperate to get chickens again.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Well, we're talking about bacon in your white bread. Imagine
- 17:47Speaker 3: fresh farm eggs there from your chooks.
- 17:50Speaker 5: I've had it. I own chickens, Jase.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Yeah, good.
- 17:52Speaker 5: That was so good. But hey, tradetester.co.nz. Put a shopping
- 17:56Speaker 5: list together. Upload it at hodaki.co.nz. Tomorrow is the last
- 18:00Speaker 5: one of these we're giving away.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Wow.
- 18:01Speaker 5: So get stuck in.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Here's Beastie Boys.
- 18:05Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Audio Slave there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 18:14Speaker 3: Thursday afternoon.
- 18:15Speaker 1: The time is 4.53.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Fellas, let's talk TV.
- 18:20Speaker 1: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah!
- 18:27Speaker 3: That's right.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Fellas, I watched an episode of the new television show Brothers,
- 18:34Speaker 1: which is screening on Apple TV, Jase. You're paying for that,
- 18:39Speaker 1: aren't you, mate? Yes, I am.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Without the joy of watching it.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Shock and burst.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Because he can't log in.
- 18:45Speaker 1: The premise of the show is that it chronicles a
- 18:47Speaker 1: fictional version of the lives of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson,
- 18:52Speaker 1: whose strong friendship is put to the test when they
- 18:55Speaker 1: decide to live together with their families at McConaughey's Texas
- 18:59Speaker 1: ranch after Harrelson's daughter's wedding falls apart. While at the ranch,
- 19:04Speaker 1: McConaughey and Harrelson uncover a family secret that the two
- 19:08Speaker 1: may in fact be brothers. Now this is based on
- 19:12Speaker 1: a true rumour. because both of their fathers were sort
- 19:17Speaker 1: of travelling sales humans. Right, yes. And there's a real
- 19:23Speaker 1: crossover in the timing, and some of the family think
- 19:26Speaker 1: that they actually might be half-brothers because the father was
- 19:29Speaker 1: running two families in different places. Also, Harrelson's father, interestingly enough,
- 19:35Speaker 1: a convicted hitman. Wow. Shock and bastard. So it's a comedy.
- 19:39Speaker 1: It's on Apple TV. I watched the first episode. It
- 19:42Speaker 1: relies heavily... On the charisma of its two leads. Yes.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I could do with a few more jokes. I'm going
- 19:49Speaker 1: to keep on... First episode's always hard. I'll keep watching
- 19:52Speaker 1: two buzzies out of a possible five at the moment.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I'll let you know how I go. It's one of
- 19:56Speaker 1: those things I could very much see me never watching
- 19:59Speaker 1: any more of ever again. Yes, I hear you.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Listen, fellas, I don't have much to contribute just because
- 20:05Speaker 3: I finished off the Lizzie Borden story, you know, of
- 20:08Speaker 3: the serial killer.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Well, or was she? Was she?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Finished it up, had the court case, and then I
- 20:18Speaker 3: won't tell you what happens after that. But quite fascinating,
- 20:22Speaker 3: quite a fascinating story. Quite a fascinating character, actually. And
- 20:28Speaker 3: the actress that played Lizzie... is the daughter of Warren
- 20:33Speaker 3: Beatty and.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I know her, yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and she's like 26.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Is that Annette Bening?
- 20:39Speaker 3: Annette Bening, thank you, yes. And she's like 26, and
- 20:44Speaker 3: he's like 80-odd.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yeah, everything's possible, Jase. Yeah, well, there you go. You
- 20:48Speaker 1: never know, Keezy.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Why are you saying that to me?
- 20:51Speaker 3: Well, I'm just saying.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's even too late, man. Cheers, fellas.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Last night, I watched an episode of Country Calendar... Country Calendar.
- 21:00Speaker 1: He used to do this all the time.
- 21:01Speaker 4: I know.
- 21:02Speaker 5: So last night my wife was like, I just want
- 21:04Speaker 5: to watch something easy. And I was like, I know
- 21:05Speaker 5: what's easy, watching people farming. So we put Country Calendar
- 21:09Speaker 5: on and it was about this backbone farmer who rides
- 21:11Speaker 5: a horse and rounds up his sheep, but is also
- 21:13Speaker 5: the world champion at timber sports. And he's a stud
- 21:17Speaker 5: of a human, working out every night, practicing his timber sports.
- 21:20Speaker 1: What kind of timber sports have we got?
- 21:22Speaker 5: So you've got one where you've got to cut two
- 21:24Speaker 5: bits with a chainsaw down, up, down again.
- 21:26Speaker 1: That's three bits. Yeah, on the round.
- 21:29Speaker 5: And then you've got the single.
- 21:29Speaker 1: That's on the round.
- 21:30Speaker 5: That's right, yeah. And you've got the single saw, where
- 21:32Speaker 5: it's just you and a big, long saw. You've got
- 21:33Speaker 5: to cut that off. And then there's one where you
- 21:35Speaker 5: stand on top of a giant. You know, a lump
- 21:37Speaker 5: of wood, and you're cutting between your feet.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yes, yes.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You know, one of the great sports, really is one
- 21:42Speaker 1: of the great all-around sports. They used to do it
- 21:45Speaker 1: at all the AP & I. When I grew up,
- 21:47Speaker 1: it was an AP & I show. God, it's good stuff, man.
- 21:50Speaker 1: There's another one where they have the shaft.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Of a tree.
- 21:53Speaker 5: That's right, and they put the plank in.
- 21:54Speaker 1: He was doing that. They put the plank in. You've
- 21:56Speaker 1: got to chop some wood, and then you put the
- 21:57Speaker 1: plank up, and you climb up, and you've got to
- 21:59Speaker 1: get all the way over there. It's unbelievable.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Good, wholesome entertainment there.
- 22:02Speaker 5: But this fellow, he was a backbone.
- 22:04Speaker 4: He.
- 22:05Speaker 5: was at the Palmerston North Champs to earn the right
- 22:08Speaker 5: to go internationally to defend his world title. And his
- 22:11Speaker 5: brother beat him.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Oh!
- 22:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but I was like, it's classic. Like, you know,
- 22:15Speaker 5: you do a big story on Country Calendar about being
- 22:17Speaker 5: the world champ, two-time defending world champ, like the man,
- 22:20Speaker 5: and then you lose to your brother while the cameras
- 22:22Speaker 5: are all there. But then he must have paid for
- 22:24Speaker 5: his own flights or whatever, went over to Budapest or
- 22:27Speaker 5: Bucharest or.
- 22:27Speaker 1: One of the two.
- 22:28Speaker 5: And then won the world champ again.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Oh, there you go. Very interesting. Yeah, great stuff. How
- 22:33Speaker 1: many buzzies?
- 22:35Speaker 5: I didn't see any.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Oh, rating.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Three and a half out of five. I like a
- 22:41Speaker 5: country calendar when they're setting up some sort of little shop, like, oh,
- 22:43Speaker 5: we've decided to make our own cheese. You know, that's
- 22:46Speaker 5: my favourite type of country calendar.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, sure.
- 22:49Speaker 5: But my wife enjoyed this one.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I genuinely don't think I've watched a full episode of
- 22:52Speaker 1: my life.
- 22:52Speaker 3: No, I don't think I have either.
- 22:54Speaker 5: That is a crime. It's one of the best shows out.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Hey, now, listen, plenty coming up after five o'clock. My
- 22:59Speaker 3: daughter started nightclubbing, my youngest, my baby.
- 23:02Speaker 1: She started a nightclub?
- 23:03Speaker 3: She started nightclubbing.
- 23:05Speaker 1: She's not a baby, she's 18.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Well, she's 18, you know, but she's still my baby, Kenzie.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You know, I don't know how I feel about that.
- 23:12Speaker 5: How old is your eldest?
- 23:13Speaker 4: 31.
- 23:13Speaker 3: How old are you?
- 23:17Speaker 1: God, is that the... We'd better go to the news, actually.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive backbones.
- 23:30Speaker 3: You are listening to The Big Show, and it's brought
- 23:32Speaker 3: to you by Reburger.
- 23:35Speaker 5: Serving great times and good food. Dine in or take
- 23:38Speaker 5: away Reburger today.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Re-ber-ger.
- 23:43Speaker 1: What happened there?
- 23:44Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 23:45Speaker 1: No, you're just, you're normally, you're right on it.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you're just as sharp as a tat. Do-doosh, do-doosh.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You're slightly off there. I was just worried about you there.
- 23:52Speaker 1: You're a bit tired. I thought you might have broken down.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Well, no, I looked over and I couldn't decide between
- 23:56Speaker 5: which one I was going to read.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 23:58Speaker 5: And then I sort of started reading both.
- 23:59Speaker 1: You're not playing that the night before.
- 24:01Speaker 5: No, no, usually I do, Mogey, but last night I
- 24:05Speaker 5: was bloody flat out.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Were you?
- 24:07Speaker 5: So I didn't have time to go through and be like, okay,
- 24:09Speaker 5: I'll do that one at five.
- 24:11Speaker 1: No, it can happen. It can happen. It won't happen again, fellas.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Preparation is king.
- 24:15Speaker 4: It is.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I thought it was queen. Hey, now, listen, plenty coming
- 24:19Speaker 1: up this hour, by the way.
- 24:20Speaker 5: We're going to have some holiday chat, Jase, because you
- 24:23Speaker 5: and I are going on holiday this weekend.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Yes, we are.
- 24:25Speaker 5: And I want to compare packing techniques.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Sure, sure.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Because I reckon you guys will, by the time you've
- 24:31Speaker 5: heard me discuss how I pack, you guys will then
- 24:33Speaker 5: change to my way of thinking.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Yeah, okay. Well, should we do some holiday chat next, Keezy?
- 24:38Speaker 5: Sure, man, whatever you need.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 5: Do you like Nirvana?
- 24:41Speaker 4: Yes, I do.
- 24:42Speaker 5: What about Unplugged Nirvana?
- 24:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:44Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Harvey Danger there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 24:52Speaker 3: Thursday evening. Now, fellas, it's common knowledge now, of course,
- 24:57Speaker 3: that old Keezy and I are off for two weeks.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Starting next week, Keezy off to Japan, of course, Hoiti
- 25:04Speaker 3: J to Aussie.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Yeah, so both of us, you know, go to the
- 25:07Speaker 5: far reaches of the earth there. Nice to see how
- 25:11Speaker 5: different cultures are living and existing.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I'm fascinated to meet some Australians.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I thought you were just going over there to hang
- 25:19Speaker 1: out with some New Zealanders. You're going to meet up
- 25:21Speaker 1: with your New Zealand family in Sydney and then you're
- 25:23Speaker 1: going to go and meet up with all your daughter's.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Across the rest of the country. Yeah, pretty much.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I'll try and avoid the locals as much as possible.
- 25:29Speaker 5: I'm going to Japan, and fellas, one of the things
- 25:32Speaker 5: about Japan is they recommend, because of all the trains
- 25:35Speaker 5: and stuff, that you don't take big suitcases. They say
- 25:38Speaker 5: keep your luggage light because you'll be carrying it upstairs
- 25:41Speaker 5: and doing all sorts otherwise.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:43Speaker 5: So one of the packing techniques that I've adopted in
- 25:45Speaker 5: recent years, have you heard of packing cells? Yes. Packing cells.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Mike? Yes.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Okay, sweet. Well, then don't worry about it.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I've heard about them, yeah. I mean, I use this. Well,
- 25:57Speaker 1: you have little compartments, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. I use
- 26:00Speaker 1: what I use. This is just me. Little plastic bags,
- 26:04Speaker 1: little airtight plastic bags. Then you squeeze all the air
- 26:07Speaker 1: out of them. It means you can just fit significantly
- 26:11Speaker 1: more clothes at any one time. You can even do them, Jason,
- 26:14Speaker 1: if you wanted to. You can pack individual outfits in
- 26:17Speaker 1: each one, and then you can also pack your dirty
- 26:19Speaker 1: laundry in these bags as well.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Very, very easy. I've been doing it for decades. Oh, wow.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I go, interestingly, the tubes.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I get the tubes. What does that mean?
- 26:31Speaker 3: And I just get lots and lots of little tubes
- 26:33Speaker 3: and just stuff.
- 26:33Speaker 1: What kind of tubes? Well, you know, like round tubes, Keezy.
- 26:36Speaker 5: No, I know what shape it's in.
- 26:37Speaker 3: What is it?
- 26:37Speaker 1: A Pringles container. Imagine a drainage pipe. A PVC pipe?
- 26:42Speaker 3: Yeah, cut into little segments and you just fill the
- 26:44Speaker 3: tubes in. and then just line all the tubes up
- 26:47Speaker 3: in your bag. But the thing that's freaking me out,
- 26:49Speaker 3: I bought this new suitcase.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Is it a tube? What shape is it?
- 26:54Speaker 4: No, no.
- 26:55Speaker 3: It's a beautiful, like 2.5K, so it better be bloody beautiful.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yeah, you've earned it.
- 27:00Speaker 3: I'm a little bit concerned because they had to fly
- 27:03Speaker 3: it up from Dunedin.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Right, suitcase.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Then it's like, God, is it going to arrive on time?
- 27:09Speaker 3: Guaranteed it'll arrive on the Monday after I've left.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Has it got a secret compartment in the bottom of it?
- 27:14Speaker 3: Yes, it does.
- 27:15Speaker 5: What do you put in there?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Tubes.
- 27:20Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 27:23Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Gorillas there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Thursday evening.
- 27:31Speaker 3: We're talking packing for overseas, aren't we, fellas? And I
- 27:34Speaker 3: feel terrible, Keezy, because we sort of got sidetracked there.
- 27:37Speaker 4: We did.
- 27:37Speaker 3: You were talking to us about your particular packing technique.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's right. That got you talking about tubes, Jase,
- 27:44Speaker 1: which I found fascinating. Yes.
- 27:46Speaker 3: We can actually, a lot of people don't know about
- 27:49Speaker 3: them actually, Mogi, because you can get them anywhere. But
- 27:51Speaker 3: they are very, very efficient in terms of your space.
- 27:54Speaker 5: Are you talking proper PVC pipe? How heavy is your suitcase?
- 27:59Speaker 3: It's a heavy, it's a light plastic.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Would a Pringle container do the trick? Oh, look for
- 28:04Speaker 1: your undies. Yes.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Maybe your socks or something like that.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Toiletries.
- 28:08Speaker 3: But this is actually specifically made for travel. It's very light,
- 28:12Speaker 3: but it's also very hardy and sturdy.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Travel tubes.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Travel tubes. A lot of negative space with a tube.
- 28:18Speaker 5: Yeah, hard to put a whole lot of tubes together.
- 28:21Speaker 5: They should be hexagonal.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Like a beehive.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Thank you. Yeah, maybe. Maybe. But your undies aren't beehive shaped.
- 28:29Speaker 1: That's the problem.
- 28:30Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 28:30Speaker 5: I'm not saying they should be beehive shaped. I'm saying
- 28:32Speaker 5: the honeycomb in a beehive, the way that it's shaped.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Because a beehive is sort of a weird sort of. Hexagonal,
- 28:40Speaker 1: isn't it? Well, it takes any kind of shape, doesn't it?
- 28:42Speaker 1: Depending on how big it is and. I've seen beehives, Keezy,
- 28:45Speaker 1: in walls.
- 28:46Speaker 5: No, totally, Mikey.
- 28:47Speaker 1: So is that what you're suggesting? No, no, no. People
- 28:49Speaker 1: put a wall in their suitcase?
- 28:50Speaker 3: Well, I mean, that's not going to fit in your suitcase, though.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I can't put a wall in there.
- 28:53Speaker 5: No, what I'm saying is if I was to start
- 28:55Speaker 5: some sort of travel tube company, I would change it
- 28:58Speaker 5: from your standard tube to a hexagonal tube because that
- 29:01Speaker 5: way you can slot them all in there and it'll
- 29:03Speaker 5: be nice and sturdy. Because nature has solved the issue
- 29:07Speaker 5: of how to maximize space with a tube like shape,
- 29:10Speaker 5: and they've gone for the hexagonal honeycomb. Or is it octagonal?
- 29:15Speaker 3: The issue that you have with your hexagonal, though, is–
- 29:19Speaker 3: and this is why tubes are so efficient. You can
- 29:21Speaker 3: fit more in a tube than a hexagonal. No, no,
- 29:23Speaker 3: that's not strictly true. So while you're saying that tubes
- 29:27Speaker 3: aren't spatially better– What's the negative space? They do fit
- 29:33Speaker 3: in a lot more than your hex.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And, of course, the trouble is, Keezy, with your hexagonals, Yeah.
- 29:38Speaker 1: You start putting a whole lot of hexagons together, and
- 29:41Speaker 1: before you know it, you've got bees.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 29:43Speaker 1: You've got bees everywhere because they can't tell the difference, famously,
- 29:47Speaker 1: between a beehive or a storage system.
- 29:49Speaker 3: And I'll tell you what, you don't want that when
- 29:51Speaker 3: you're going through customs in Japan. You can't take honey.
- 29:54Speaker 3: A full beehive.
- 29:58Speaker 5: But yes, the way I usually pack is I'll just
- 30:01Speaker 5: fag everything in there on the day.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that sounds about right.
- 30:06Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Soundgarden there on the Hodaki Big Show this Thursday evening.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Fellas, I've got a bone to pick. You know, there's
- 30:20Speaker 1: been a lot of chat about you guys going away
- 30:22Speaker 1: for two weeks. You've got a big holiday coming up.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Big holiday.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Woody J, you're off to the Eastern Seaboard. Yes. Of Australia.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I heard that they were going to give you the
- 30:34Speaker 1: key to the Eastern Seaboard. You're spending so much time there.
- 30:36Speaker 3: I didn't want to mention that, but apparently so, yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 5: The key to the seaboard?
- 30:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, the Eastern Seaboard.
- 30:41Speaker 5: That's not even a thing, is it?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Of course it is.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, man, totally.
- 30:44Speaker 5: I thought it was a swipe card.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And then you, Keezy, you're off to Japan. That's right.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Following in the footsteps of some of our great explorers
- 30:52Speaker 1: like Pugsan. Yeah, that's right.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Ever since Pug's built an entire personality around going to
- 30:58Speaker 5: Japan briefly, I just thought, man, I've got to go
- 31:00Speaker 5: see it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Makes sense.
- 31:02Speaker 1: See what it's all made of. I guess my concern
- 31:04Speaker 1: is that both of you guys get to go on
- 31:06Speaker 1: a lovely two-week holiday. Meanwhile, old Mogi's left behind. And
- 31:10Speaker 1: I don't want to be just abandoned with Pugsan because
- 31:13Speaker 1: I see it as an opportunity. Of course, of course. However,
- 31:17Speaker 1: that said, I'm getting a vibe from you guys that
- 31:20Speaker 1: you don't really have any intention of coming back.
- 31:22Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 31:23Speaker 1: Is that accurate? Because it feels like, I'll be honest
- 31:26Speaker 1: with you, it feels like this is a ruse.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Right.
- 31:29Speaker 1: It feels like you're not even going to Japan, you're
- 31:33Speaker 1: not going to Australia. You're going on some sort of
- 31:35Speaker 1: South Island tiki tour or something like that. What, just
- 31:38Speaker 1: me and Jase?
- 31:38Speaker 3: What, together?
- 31:40Speaker 1: Yes, together. Or you're going out to Russell and you're
- 31:42Speaker 1: going to start your own radio show. And I just
- 31:44Speaker 1: want to have it out here now.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Mogi.
- 31:47Speaker 1: And just for once and for all, just know that
- 31:50Speaker 1: we can expect you back on or about the 19th
- 31:53Speaker 1: of October.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Is this because I haven't booked my flights to Japan yet?
- 31:56Speaker 1: That's part of it.
- 31:56Speaker 5: Because I told you I like to book them on
- 31:58Speaker 5: the day.
- 31:58Speaker 4: I know, I know.
- 31:59Speaker 1: But it seems unlikely because up until this point, you're
- 32:02Speaker 1: probably the most anal man I know. In fact, that
- 32:05Speaker 1: should be your nickname.
- 32:06Speaker 5: What, anal man?
- 32:07Speaker 3: Can I clarify? You're exactly right, Mogi, when you say
- 32:14Speaker 3: on or about.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Yes. Thank you.
- 32:17Speaker 3: I'll be back on or about around that time.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Wait, so that doesn't sound like it's definite either.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Well, I mean, it's hard when you're travelling to be definite.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Because things can happen, things can pop up.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Not at this point, but what I'm planning is at
- 32:39Speaker 3: the end of, you know, going down the coast there,
- 32:43Speaker 3: we'll be able to pick up some cheap tickets. You know,
- 32:46Speaker 3: maybe even along the way as we're driving down, we might,
- 32:48Speaker 3: you know, come across a deal or two or something
- 32:50Speaker 3: like that.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Well, it's not making me feel any better, I'll be
- 32:52Speaker 1: honest with you.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Right. Mike.
- 32:54Speaker 5: The idea that me and Jase would secretly go on
- 32:57Speaker 5: a holiday together and just run away together, like what,
- 33:01Speaker 5: you think we're just going to leave our wives behind
- 33:02Speaker 5: and run away together, me and Jase?
- 33:05Speaker 1: You know, it doesn't sound that weird to me. I've
- 33:08Speaker 1: seen the way you two toss the pigskin around this office.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I've got to be honest with you.
- 33:14Speaker 3: It's not unappealing.
- 33:15Speaker 1: No.
- 33:16Speaker 3: You know, I mean, how long do you reckon we'd
- 33:18Speaker 3: last with the money we've got at the moment, Keezy?
- 33:22Speaker 5: I've got my ditch money. You've got dog squad money.
- 33:25Speaker 1: I've used all that.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Have you? Yes.
- 33:26Speaker 5: You've got your broken wood money.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:29Speaker 5: I reckon we'd last, you know, six months.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and then we'll just take it from there maybe. Okay, right.
- 33:35Speaker 3: But, like, as you say, this is a huge opportunity
- 33:38Speaker 3: for you and Pugs. I don't want to come back
- 33:40Speaker 3: and spoil it immediately that we finish our holiday.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Excellent. That's where I was trying to get to.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 5: What was that nickname of mine again?
- 33:49Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 33:52Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Blank Sabbath there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 33:58Speaker 3: Thursday evening. Now, fellas, my youngest daughter, my baby, as
- 34:04Speaker 3: I like to call her, still at home with us,
- 34:06Speaker 3: but she started nightclubbing. Do you remember your nightclubbing days, fellas?
- 34:11Speaker 1: I do. Yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 5: I don't know if I really had nightclubbing.
- 34:15Speaker 3: You don't strike me as a nightclubber.
- 34:17Speaker 5: No, that's not what I mean.
- 34:19Speaker 3: I don't mean that as an attack on you, Keezy.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Oh, no, of course.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Simply, you don't strike me as the sort of– you're
- 34:25Speaker 3: more of a– you go to the pub with your
- 34:26Speaker 3: mates rather than a nightclub and have some cocktails.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And a bit of a dance. Yes, that's right. Well,
- 34:32Speaker 1: to be honest– So there's no lights on, just a
- 34:36Speaker 1: little bit of maybe lasers, Jase? Yes. A bit of oomph, oomph.
- 34:39Speaker 4: Oomph.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Well, to be honest, I'll be honest, when I was
- 34:42Speaker 5: your daughter's age, and I'm being honest here, I hated
- 34:46Speaker 5: going to the clubs.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Because we'd go into a mate's place and have drinks,
- 34:50Speaker 5: and then at midnight you'd go, right, should we go
- 34:52Speaker 5: to town now and go to the clubs? And I'd
- 34:54Speaker 5: be like, but it's way more fun here, man. We're
- 34:56Speaker 5: playing pool.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 5: We're talking shit. We've got music on.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Look, I've got to be honest with you, because I
- 35:00Speaker 3: lived near to the city, so I was quite a
- 35:03Speaker 3: big clubber. I mean, I don't know that I liked it.
- 35:05Speaker 3: And I know what I got up to in clubs.
- 35:08Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, fellas?
- 35:09Speaker 5: So that's what, are you worried about your daughter because
- 35:11Speaker 5: of how you.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Well, I'm just saying, as a parent, it's very hard
- 35:15Speaker 3: to divorce yourself from the reality of what you were
- 35:19Speaker 3: like when you went nightclubbing.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 35:21Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Your own experiences. Yes. You know,
- 35:25Speaker 1: you sort of match them up with what your daughter's
- 35:28Speaker 1: potentially going to go through. And to be fair, she will.
- 35:30Speaker 1: She will, yeah.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Of course she will. Well, hang on.
- 35:32Speaker 5: What were you guys getting up to nightclubbing? Because to
- 35:34Speaker 5: be honest, I was a pretty vanilla. I was on
- 35:38Speaker 5: the piss, but that was it. There was nothing crazy
- 35:40Speaker 5: going on.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Well, what have you got? Huh? What have you got?
- 35:43Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 35:44Speaker 1: That would be the question at the start of the night.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 3: What are we thinking?
- 35:49Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you reckon?
- 35:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 3: And of course, nightclubs are notorious for that kind of carry-on.
- 35:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 35:56Speaker 3: Dudes and jackets and what have you got? What are
- 36:00Speaker 3: we running with tonight?
- 36:01Speaker 4: What's the vibe?
- 36:02Speaker 1: The next thing you know, your eyes are all over
- 36:04Speaker 1: the shop.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 36:05Speaker 3: You're up on the podium dancing.
- 36:07Speaker 5: But that's not necessarily a terrible thing, though, is it?
- 36:09Speaker 1: Wow.
- 36:10Speaker 4: No. No, no. No.
- 36:13Speaker 1: But then I'm not, you know, I'm not Jase's daughter. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I think that's the thing.
- 36:18Speaker 5: That's true.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I think she's got a good head on her shoulders.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:23Speaker 3: I think she's responsible.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Well, what are you worried about specifically, Jase? Are you
- 36:27Speaker 5: worried that she's going to go to a club, have
- 36:29Speaker 5: a few drinks, have a dance?
- 36:30Speaker 3: Well, they got home at about 3 or 4 this morning.
- 36:32Speaker 5: That's pretty standard.
- 36:33Speaker 1: And I was like, ha, ha, hey.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Because I'd stayed up all night.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Can I ask you, yes, that is a good question.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Last night, my wife was up. She's worked the last
- 36:43Speaker 1: two nights. She's got to bed first.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Night, 1.30.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Wow. Last night, 1 o'clock. She's working from home on
- 36:49Speaker 1: the computer. I can't sleep with her in.
- 36:51Speaker 4: The other room.
- 36:52Speaker 5: No, I can't.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I absolutely can't. And so the idea, and that's my wife.
- 36:55Speaker 1: She's not 18. And so the idea that your daughter
- 36:58Speaker 1: is out on the town till all hours. Talk to
- 37:02Speaker 1: me about the quality of your sleep.
- 37:04Speaker 3: The quality of my sleep is not good. What it's
- 37:08Speaker 3: like when my daughters travel as well, and I listen
- 37:10Speaker 3: to the sirens. I listen to the screams and hollers outside.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I twist and I turn. I break out in a
- 37:18Speaker 3: soft and gentle sweat. And then after a couple of hours,
- 37:23Speaker 3: I fall into a fitful sleep. Which is then disturbed
- 37:27Speaker 3: by her banging on her door going to bed.
- 37:30Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 37:31Speaker 3: And then I'm kind of awake from there on in going, God,
- 37:34Speaker 3: are they all right?
- 37:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that's parenthood, Keezy.
- 37:37Speaker 5: But you don't have to live in the CBD and
- 37:39Speaker 5: listen to all the stabbing and the screaming and stuff
- 37:41Speaker 5: going on and then associating that with your daughter clubbing.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Well, it's very hard not to when it's right outside
- 37:46Speaker 3: your window.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 5: Well, to be honest, man, the only thing you can
- 37:49Speaker 5: do is put on your coolest jacket and And your
- 37:52Speaker 5: cool shoes.
- 37:53Speaker 1: If you can't beat them, join them.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Go clubbing.
- 37:55Speaker 1: My wife was suggesting that.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Hey, why don't we just go to the nightclub as
- 37:58Speaker 3: well and just hide in a corner, have a bit
- 38:00Speaker 3: of a.
- 38:01Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I know you get spotted pretty quick. Yeah, 100%.
- 38:03Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Skid Row there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 38:12Speaker 3: Thursday evening.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Fellas, this Sunday the Roosters are taking on the Knights
- 38:16Speaker 5: in the NRL Grand Final. Of course, Gerry and Manai
- 38:18Speaker 5: are both going along with Boy's Trip.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Oh, of course.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Are they? Yeah. I didn't realise that.
- 38:24Speaker 5: They fly out tomorrow.
- 38:25Speaker 1: What do you mean you didn't realise that?
- 38:27Speaker 3: I didn't realise they were going to the grand final.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Are you jealous? Nah.
- 38:31Speaker 5: Right, it's just that you kind of hate rugby leagues,
- 38:34Speaker 5: so it'd be a weird thing to be jealous of.
- 38:35Speaker 3: No, I just didn't realise they were going to it.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Was that an ACC thing, is it?
- 38:38Speaker 1: Yeah, we sort of, you know, remember that sort of
- 38:40Speaker 1: six to eight weeks we were talking about every day?
- 38:42Speaker 1: That was in there.
- 38:43Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, now I remember.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Totally. If you are going to the grand final or
- 38:48Speaker 5: if you're just watching it at home, why not download
- 38:51Speaker 5: the Betcha app and join old Keezy's pot? He's, well,
- 38:55Speaker 5: I have hosted a few pots this year, some of
- 38:57Speaker 5: them great, some of them really horrific. But I highly
- 39:00Speaker 5: recommend you join in. Download the Betcha app, go to BetSocial,
- 39:04Speaker 5: type in the code BACKBONE, join the pot, and then
- 39:06Speaker 5: this Sunday you put some money in, I take over,
- 39:09Speaker 5: place the money, the bets, on behalf of all the
- 39:11Speaker 5: backbones out there, and then we all get rich, hopefully.
- 39:14Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Sounds good. Can I just ask you guys, by the way,
- 39:18Speaker 3: what's your vibe on this? Because we've sort of stopped
- 39:20Speaker 3: talking rugby league. Who's going to win this bastard?
- 39:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I just hope the Knights do.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 39:26Speaker 1: That's sort of the end of it for me. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 5: I hope the Knights do as well because they haven't
- 39:29Speaker 5: won in ages. and the Sydney Roosters are a huge
- 39:33Speaker 5: glamour club with heaps of money they've won a lot recently.
- 39:36Speaker 1: With a suspiciously high.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Salary cap Yeah. They call it the celery sombrero.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Yes.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Bit of a joke there. But if you want to
- 39:44Speaker 5: join the pie, as I said, get the Betcha app.
- 39:46Speaker 5: It's the number one app to bet on sports in
- 39:48Speaker 5: New Zealand. R18, of course, bet responsibly, fellas.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Good stuff. Okay.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Coming up after six, Pugs needs a hand, guys.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Oh, okay. I'm always happy to help Pugs, son.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Yeah, and also I'm worried about Jase.
- 40:02Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:05Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Thursday night's absolutely
- 40:12Speaker 3: going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought
- 40:15Speaker 3: to you by Reburger.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that'll change the game.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Hey, thanks for coming in. Sorry for the late notice.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no worries. Always happy to help.
- 40:28Speaker 4: I'll get to the point. We've had a few complaints
- 40:31Speaker 4: about you distracting your co-workers.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, no. Gee whiz, no.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Walking around the office saying, yum. at various times of
- 40:42Speaker 4: the day. It's really nice.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Oh, you're talking about yummy.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Well, it's not work-related.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Yum. And it's not work chat.
- 40:49Speaker 5: No, that's just because of this bird gear place that
- 40:53Speaker 5: I like to go to.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Right, okay.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Re-bird gear.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Oh, are you talking about re-bird gear?
- 41:00Speaker 6: That's it.
- 41:01Speaker 4: Oh, mate, fill your boots.
- 41:03Speaker 1: As long as it's re-bird gear.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Yum. Yeah. Yeah. Happy with that?
- 41:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I am happy with that. I like the longer,
- 41:13Speaker 3: more elongated clips.
- 41:15Speaker 5: That's because you don't have to talk for how long.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it just gives me a little bit of a break.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:20Speaker 3: My wife's just texted me on the food front, actually.
- 41:23Speaker 3: How do you feel about a dirty old spag bol?
- 41:26Speaker 4: Yum.
- 41:26Speaker 1: That's good eating.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Nah.
- 41:28Speaker 5: I love spag bol.
- 41:29Speaker 4: No good.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I like my spag bol.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Not hers.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Specifically not hers. Yeah, you've been pretty staunch about that
- 41:36Speaker 1: over the years.
- 41:36Speaker 4: I'll give you that.
- 41:37Speaker 1: You're consistent. Wow, that's... Not just a spag bol.
- 41:40Speaker 3: It's very good.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Sure, it doesn't sound it.
- 41:43Speaker 3: It's more that I just don't feel like spag bol.
- 41:45Speaker 1: That's not what you were just saying, because you were
- 41:47Speaker 1: just saying specifically that your wife's spag bol not up
- 41:50Speaker 1: to it.
- 41:51Speaker 3: It's just, that's not my vibe tonight. What about you, Keezy?
- 41:54Speaker 4: What are you eating?
- 41:54Speaker 1: Why don't you tell her?
- 41:57Speaker 5: Nah, I don't feel like that.
- 41:58Speaker 4: I did.
- 41:59Speaker 1: What did she say?
- 42:00Speaker 3: She went, okay.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Wow, silent treatment.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I like it. Here we go.
- 42:03Speaker 5: Last night, fellas, I had yams.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Remember that?
- 42:06Speaker 5: Yes.
- 42:06Speaker 4: Yes.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Actually, delicious meal.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Was that yammy?
- 42:09Speaker 5: They were yum.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Yum. I find them a bit watery.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Yeah, your ones are shocking. Your wife makes good ones, though.
- 42:16Speaker 5: So it was roast yam, pumpkin, and capsicum in the oven.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:21Speaker 5: And then we mixed that in with some couscous and
- 42:22Speaker 5: some Moroccan paste and then cooked some halloumi, put some
- 42:26Speaker 5: spinach through it. It was delicious. It was so good.
- 42:31Speaker 5: And I said to my wife, hey, we should have
- 42:32Speaker 5: that again because it was yummy.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Good chat.
- 42:35Speaker 1: What'd she say? She said, what?
- 42:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 1: She's a deafie, eh?
- 42:41Speaker 3: I'm sure that it was delicious, Keezy. I tell you what,
- 42:43Speaker 3: we've got a big hour ahead, so we need to
- 42:45Speaker 3: get into it. Why don't we start off with a
- 42:48Speaker 3: bit of LMNOP?
- 42:49Speaker 5: What are you having tonight, Mike?
- 42:52Speaker 1: Well, it's hard to say, isn't it, Keezy? I think
- 42:54Speaker 1: a couple of chicken breasts. Heavy breasts?
- 42:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Well, we're going to find out when I get home,
- 42:59Speaker 1: but fingers crossed, Hoity J. Fingers crossed.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Did you say LMNOP?
- 43:03Speaker 4: Yes.
- 43:04Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:08Speaker 3: The clash there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 43:12Speaker 3: Thursday evening.
- 43:14Speaker 5: Fellas, one sausage roll is about to become a Kiwi legend.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:18Speaker 5: Okay, because the nationwide Bakel's legendary sausage roll competition is
- 43:22Speaker 5: on now. The winner is going to be announced tomorrow
- 43:25Speaker 5: right here on Hodaki, the best sausage roll in New Zealand.
- 43:29Speaker 5: So the stakes are high, aren't they? Because sausage rolls,
- 43:32Speaker 5: to be honest, I would say a saucy roll is
- 43:34Speaker 5: of more importance in my family than a pie.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Is, isn't it?
- 43:37Speaker 1: I'm going to be honest with you.
- 43:38Speaker 3: I had a very fancy dancy one the other day,
- 43:41Speaker 3: and it was bloody delicious.
- 43:42Speaker 4: A big one?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it was quite big, and it was a chorizo
- 43:47Speaker 3: sausage roll. So it had– chorizo sausage instead of your
- 43:50Speaker 3: standy sausage. So it had a bit of a bite
- 43:53Speaker 3: to it, had a bit of a kick to it.
- 43:54Speaker 3: It was bloody delicious.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I prefer, personally, a small sausage roll. Oh, like that
- 44:03Speaker 1: little dinky inch, inch and a half long. Yeah, like
- 44:05Speaker 1: a savoury sort of a thing that you might find
- 44:07Speaker 1: at a kid's party or something like that. Generally, you'll
- 44:09Speaker 1: get them in a roll and you chop them up.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I love those. I prefer a bite size.
- 44:14Speaker 6: Yes.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Because when you get the big ones from a bakery,
- 44:16Speaker 1: this is just me, Um, there's too much of the sausage.
- 44:20Speaker 5: The ratios are off.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I like a high crispy concentration on my sausage roll.
- 44:26Speaker 5: Has anyone ever, just on that, because I, whenever you
- 44:29Speaker 5: have like a dinner party and someone brings out the
- 44:31Speaker 5: frozen sausage rolls, cuts them up and cooks them, they're
- 44:34Speaker 5: my favorite. A little, tub of tomato sauce to dip
- 44:37Speaker 5: it in right that's.
- 44:38Speaker 1: 11 man what are these dinner parties you're going to
- 44:40Speaker 1: you lucky bastard fancy much 10 out of.
- 44:44Speaker 5: 10 entree has anyone ever just got one of the
- 44:48Speaker 5: frozen long things and not cut it up and just
- 44:51Speaker 5: Held it in one hand.
- 44:52Speaker 4: There you go.
- 44:53Speaker 3: And just gobbled it down.
- 44:54Speaker 1: That's a good question. And just devoured it. No, I
- 44:56Speaker 1: personally never have.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I might try it.
- 44:58Speaker 3: It's really interesting you bring those up because my wife
- 45:01Speaker 3: and I were in those for quite a while there.
- 45:03Speaker 5: You were in them?
- 45:04Speaker 3: No, we used to have the frozen sausage rolls that
- 45:07Speaker 3: you chop up.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I know the ones. Oh, the ones we're talking about.
- 45:11Speaker 1: The ones you're talking about.
- 45:12Speaker 3: But we haven't done it for years and years.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Why?
- 45:15Speaker 3: I don't know why, Mogi.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Why?
- 45:17Speaker 1: Kids gone yeah maybe it's because of kids.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Because like you you've got like i don't know i
- 45:22Speaker 5: don't have any kids fellas um but if you had
- 45:25Speaker 5: your son or daughter had their friends over and you
- 45:27Speaker 5: had to feed a whole lot of.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Them yeah saucy rolls they get nothing they just get.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Nothing generally speaking but yes i know what you're saying.
- 45:35Speaker 1: The other thing that i don't like kz is when
- 45:37Speaker 1: it comes to sausage roll and this is a hard
- 45:39Speaker 1: and fast rule straight in the bin any vegetable There
- 45:44Speaker 1: is not to be a pea in it. There is
- 45:45Speaker 1: not to be any carrot in it. I am not
- 45:48Speaker 1: eating a sausage roll to get my veggies in me.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Forget about that. If I see any of that, it's
- 45:52Speaker 1: in the bin.
- 45:53Speaker 6: Really?
- 45:54Speaker 1: Immediately, it's gone.
- 45:55Speaker 5: Even if it tastes really nice and you can't tell.
- 45:57Speaker 1: It doesn't taste nice.
- 45:57Speaker 4: It doesn't.
- 45:58Speaker 3: It's just pastry and meat.
- 46:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:02Speaker 3: You know, with a bit of sawdust.
- 46:04Speaker 5: I'm happy with it.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I can live with a little bit of onion, and
- 46:07Speaker 1: even then I'm not super thrilled, but I can definitely
- 46:10Speaker 1: live with it. Yeah, right. But if there's carrot or
- 46:13Speaker 1: a pea.
- 46:14Speaker 5: Oh, but corn's all good?
- 46:15Speaker 4: No. Oh. Hey. Hey.
- 46:18Speaker 5: By the way, to celebrate the fact that we're going
- 46:19Speaker 5: to be crowning the best sausage roll in New Zealand tomorrow,
- 46:22Speaker 5: text the word roll right now with your name and
- 46:25Speaker 5: your workplace address to 3483 and you could win a
- 46:29Speaker 5: sausage roll workplace shout award. from Radio Hauraki, all right?
- 46:33Speaker 3: Sounds good, mate.
- 46:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:34Speaker 5: That is roll with your name and workplace and address
- 46:37Speaker 5: to 3483.
- 46:37Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 46:43Speaker 3: The offspring there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Fellas, I'm a bit concerned about one member of the
- 46:50Speaker 5: Big Show, that member being Hoity J.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I worry about you, Jase.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Do you, man?
- 46:56Speaker 1: Do you, man?
- 46:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I do.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Well, what's going on, Kizzy? Talk me through it.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Well, the thing I'm worried about is you're going on
- 47:01Speaker 5: holiday soon. I'm just worried you're in the departure lounge already, man.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Oh, so you are? Yeah, yeah.
- 47:08Speaker 3: But what's your concern about it?
- 47:09Speaker 5: Well, I was kind of hoping you wouldn't be because
- 47:12Speaker 5: we still have two, well, this show's almost finished, but
- 47:14Speaker 5: another show tomorrow to do, man, and I want it
- 47:16Speaker 5: to be high-quality radio.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Well, what's tipping you off?
- 47:18Speaker 4: How do you know?
- 47:19Speaker 5: Well, for example, I've just Googled it.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Outside of him saying that he is.
- 47:22Speaker 5: Well, outside of that, I've just Googled, you know, sort
- 47:25Speaker 5: of signs a co-worker might be.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Signing off?
- 47:28Speaker 5: In the departure lounge, yeah. So ruthless boundary setting. So
- 47:33Speaker 5: they flatly refuse to take ownership of any new initiatives.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Well, I mean, that's true.
- 47:39Speaker 4: 100%.
- 47:40Speaker 1: That's just me every day. Well, exactly.
- 47:43Speaker 5: So how long have you been in the departure lounge for?
- 47:46Speaker 3: Well, like four years.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Yeah. Unshakable Zen.
- 47:53Speaker 4: Okay.
- 47:53Speaker 5: So this is things that usually would stress them out.
- 47:56Speaker 5: Don't stress them out. And they're met with an airy,
- 47:59Speaker 5: calm serenity.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 5: That's you, man.
- 48:02Speaker 1: That is interesting. Totally.
- 48:04Speaker 5: It's like how earlier in the show you were talking
- 48:07Speaker 5: about how your daughter's been going out clubbing.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Yes.
- 48:09Speaker 5: Your 18-year-old daughter. Usually you'd freak out about that, but
- 48:13Speaker 5: you seem so chill about it.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I was zen. Yeah, that is an interesting one.
- 48:17Speaker 3: But again, I'm zen all the time, so it would
- 48:20Speaker 3: be hard to pick that.
- 48:22Speaker 5: The wardrobe devolution. Okay, so professional attire slowly gives way
- 48:27Speaker 5: to pre-holiday casual.
- 48:29Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 48:30Speaker 5: So you've been wearing that hoodie for, I don't know,
- 48:31Speaker 5: like a year now.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so comfy though. And again, for a year.
- 48:35Speaker 3: So, you know, I don't think that's any specific sign
- 48:39Speaker 3: per se.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Holiday small talk, every conversation, no matter how it starts,
- 48:43Speaker 5: ends with them mentioning how many sleeps are left.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Just on that, by the way, Mogi, because you've been
- 48:47Speaker 3: down that coastline, aren't you?
- 48:49Speaker 4: Yes.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Of Australia. Of Australia there, so I'd be keen to,
- 48:52Speaker 3: You know, crack your brain.
- 48:55Speaker 5: How many sleeps, Jase?
- 48:56Speaker 3: What's that?
- 48:57Speaker 5: How many sleeps is it till you go?
- 48:59Speaker 3: Three sleeps.
- 48:59Speaker 5: See, he's doing it.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 49:01Speaker 5: Weather obsession. They're always talking about the weather and monitoring
- 49:05Speaker 5: the weather because you keep looking out there and.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Talking about it. Well, we literally do weather chat on
- 49:08Speaker 1: the show.
- 49:09Speaker 4: Every day.
- 49:10Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know what's happening in Australia, but
- 49:12Speaker 3: it's bloody windy out there. Not happy about it.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:15Speaker 5: So are you concerned at all, Moggy?
- 49:21Speaker 1: The only thing that worries me is that Jase doesn't leave.
- 49:24Speaker 1: My concern is that you go in the departure lounge
- 49:26Speaker 1: and then you change your mind and come out of
- 49:28Speaker 1: the departure lounge. Get in the departure lounge and go.
- 49:30Speaker 1: So you're counting on him going. I like it because
- 49:35Speaker 1: with having Jase in the departure lounge, It allows, it
- 49:38Speaker 1: eases me into his absence.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Yes.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 49:41Speaker 4: Yes.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Otherwise, if you're fully professional up until the end, then
- 49:44Speaker 1: you don't turn up on Monday, which is what's going
- 49:46Speaker 1: to happen this time.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:47Speaker 1: I'll be shocked.
- 49:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:48Speaker 1: But this way, you haven't really been here for the
- 49:50Speaker 1: last week and a half. Yes, yes.
- 49:51Speaker 3: I'd never, you know, I'd never be fully professional to
- 49:54Speaker 3: the end.
- 49:54Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:55Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 49:58Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Oh, there you go, you mad bastards.
- 50:16Speaker 3: That's the end of the big show this Thursday evening.
- 50:19Speaker 3: I hope you've enjoyed it. And the disclaimer today, what
- 50:22Speaker 3: were we chatting about, fellas?
- 50:25Speaker 4: Do we have any ideas?
- 50:26Speaker 5: Maybe this will ring a bell. The clip of today's disclaimer,
- 50:30Speaker 5: which comes out at 7.30, is entitled Danglers.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Danglers.
- 50:34Speaker 5: Have a listen and decide whether or not you want
- 50:36Speaker 5: to listen to the full chat.
- 50:39Speaker 1: So you're seeing that from behind. His anus is pointing
- 50:42Speaker 1: at you. And he's just got the danglers there.
- 50:45Speaker 3: And I literally just opened my eyes and that's what
- 50:50Speaker 3: I saw.
- 50:50Speaker 1: And I was like, holy.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that was we were telling a story about when
- 50:57Speaker 3: I accidentally ended up on a nudie beach without knowing it.
- 51:00Speaker 3: And I was a bit hungover and I had a
- 51:01Speaker 3: little snooze on the beach. woke up and there was
- 51:04Speaker 3: an old fella bending over fully nude, putting his towel down.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Yeah, so listen to the full chat. It comes out
- 51:09Speaker 5: at 7.30 tonight.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Mogi, your plans for tonight, please? Probably go down and
- 51:15Speaker 1: go home and just sniff up a bunch of phlegm
- 51:17Speaker 1: and that. Yeah, yeah. Sounds like fun. It's been happening
- 51:22Speaker 1: over the last sort of hour or so. A little
- 51:25Speaker 1: bit of work, a little bit of bath. I want
- 51:27Speaker 1: to watch the old mate there, Mobland.
- 51:29Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I want to watch that. It starts tonight, right? No,
- 51:33Speaker 1: it's been, there's already two episodes. Oh, it's already out. Yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 1: so I want to get involved in that. So anyway,
- 51:37Speaker 1: pretty easy one for me, fellas. You know, it's not
- 51:39Speaker 1: like I'm going away on any big holidays or anything.
- 51:41Speaker 1: You know, nothing to sort out from my end. What
- 51:43Speaker 1: about you, Keezy?
- 51:45Speaker 5: I have got to, I'm going to stay here at
- 51:47Speaker 5: work and use the big studio out there to film
- 51:49Speaker 5: a self-tape audition.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Nice.
- 51:51Speaker 5: I just figure here, neutral space, away from home.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Good size as well.
- 51:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 51:56Speaker 5: So I'll film that and then I'll pick something up
- 51:58Speaker 5: on the way home for Dins.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:00Speaker 5: What about you, Jase?
- 52:01Speaker 1: Nice, nice, nice.
- 52:03Speaker 3: I actually might, now that I've heard that, just hang
- 52:05Speaker 3: around and, You know, talk you through your audition there.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Well, I wouldn't mind a bit of help with it.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Could you hold the camera?
- 52:11Speaker 5: No.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Then I might just meander. You know, sometimes you get
- 52:17Speaker 3: in those moods where you're just like, I'm not going
- 52:19Speaker 3: to walk straight home today. I'm just going to go
- 52:22Speaker 3: for a bit of a wander. Never been in that
- 52:25Speaker 3: mood ever.
