- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:16Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Tuesday, April twenty first,
- 0:20Speaker 2: oh boy. If you want to give us a call,
- 0:23Speaker 2: you can do it at five two three eight four
- 0:25Speaker 2: fourteen fifty. If you want to text me on the
- 0:27Speaker 2: withkey text line, which has been fairly lively this morning already,
- 0:31Speaker 2: favo two four one four fourteen fifty. If you want
- 0:34Speaker 2: to tweet me at Just the Cat Radio, you can
- 0:36Speaker 2: do that as well. But uh, yep, uh where do
- 0:41Speaker 2: you start? I honestly, oh, I guess I start right here.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Good morning, justin, good morning. How are you doing this morning?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Justin seemingly better than you really? No, no, no, don't
- 0:53Speaker 3: say that now. Already a couple of early huffs and puffs. Today,
- 0:57Speaker 3: Today's the greatest day of my life. That's the that's
- 1:01Speaker 3: the aspiration that I have, that is the outlook that
- 1:03Speaker 3: I have. That is what I want to feel like. Okay,
- 1:06Speaker 3: because my dad woke up every day of my life,
- 1:10Speaker 3: what the exception when my mom passed away saying that's
- 1:13Speaker 3: the greatest day of my life, Michael, and you need
- 1:15Speaker 3: to make it the same way, and I'm right there
- 1:17Speaker 3: with them. Today's today, the Lord has made let us rejoice.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I like that. That's a fantastic song right there by
- 1:23Speaker 3: the way. I'm terrible at singing it. Okay, I'm not
- 1:27Speaker 3: going to, but I listen. I man, it's all right.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I know everybody's talking about this, and it's I'm going
- 1:38Speaker 2: to go against one of the things I hate doing.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I love talking about nonsensical things to start the show.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I just do. I'm not going to today because I
- 1:49Speaker 2: feel like people want a voice today. And here's here's
- 1:53Speaker 2: what I say. Because I see people that don't have
- 1:57Speaker 2: nothing to do with u K getting themselves involved. It's like, ah,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I can't even get Freeman. Ah, you didn't even know
- 2:06Speaker 2: who he was last week. Ah. Well, here's the problem.
- 2:10Speaker 2: It's not that Freeman would have been a good or
- 2:14Speaker 2: bad fit. It's not that Freeman would have been a
- 2:19Speaker 2: lot of money or not a lot of money. Here's
- 2:22Speaker 2: the problem. It's that it's that he was a player
- 2:30Speaker 2: that Mark Pope and staff took a long time trying
- 2:35Speaker 2: to get a hold of him, took a long time
- 2:38Speaker 2: of trying to recruit him, took a long time trying
- 2:41Speaker 2: to get him to commit to the University of Kentucky.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That's the issue I have. And whether or not it's money,
- 2:48Speaker 2: whether or not it's that you know, one person's out
- 2:51Speaker 2: with a few people are out there saying, well, he
- 2:53Speaker 2: wanted a coach that would really coach him to the
- 2:55Speaker 2: next level ball, that's not it. Here's the issue I have,
- 3:00Speaker 2: justin and you feel free to interrupt me anytime you want.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But here's the issue that I have, Michael T. Bennett,
- 3:09Speaker 2: is the fact that Mark Pope has taken forever to
- 3:15Speaker 2: get a stinking GM to come take a job, and
- 3:20Speaker 2: now you kind of have one out of Keegan Brown.
- 3:24Speaker 2: But is he the GM or is he not? Why
- 3:28Speaker 2: can't Why are we letting the former athletic director, Well
- 3:32Speaker 2: he's not former yet, but he's getting ready to be.
- 3:34Speaker 2: First of all, I'm not forgetting about this nine hundred
- 3:36Speaker 2: and thousand dollars that Mitch barn is getting, and I
- 3:39Speaker 2: don't want anybody else out there to forget that. It's
- 3:42Speaker 2: not deserved. It needs to go away. But you know,
- 3:45Speaker 2: Mitch Barnhart made the comments, we don't need whatever that is.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It's like, this is a prime example as to why
- 3:53Speaker 2: a university needs a general manager today. Okay, college athletics
- 3:59Speaker 2: has become professional sports, so in order for it to
- 4:03Speaker 2: be successful, you have to run it like a professional team.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And the fact that UK has a quasi general manager,
- 4:13Speaker 2: it's not working and UK needs a general manager because
- 4:16Speaker 2: Mark Pope can't do all this on his own. I
- 4:18Speaker 2: don't know whether to blame Mark Pope. I don't know
- 4:21Speaker 2: whether to blame Mitch Barnhardt. I don't know whether to
- 4:23Speaker 2: blame the entire university. But I'm gonna tell you what.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna blame everybody. And I didn't mean to get
- 4:29Speaker 2: on this. I got fired up when I saw all
- 4:33Speaker 2: this happening last night. It's like, oh my gosh, what's
- 4:38Speaker 2: going on. I don't think it's that big of a loss,
- 4:42Speaker 2: But the loss is he spent Mark Pope spent a
- 4:45Speaker 2: lot of time trying to get this kid to come
- 4:47Speaker 2: only to have his former coach, which is interesting. I
- 4:51Speaker 2: wonder how Mark Pope's feeling about Rick Petina today. His
- 4:54Speaker 2: former coach come in there and sweep him out of
- 4:55Speaker 2: there in just a matter of days. That's embarrassing, it is.
- 5:00Speaker 3: But I mean, at the same time, and you mentioned
- 5:02Speaker 3: the time aspect of it. But that has also worked
- 5:05Speaker 3: out for Mark Pope as well. I mean, look at
- 5:07Speaker 3: how much time they poured into Zoom Diallo and then
- 5:09Speaker 3: he ends up committing. So it's not it's not like
- 5:12Speaker 3: it's going long every time and never working out. It
- 5:16Speaker 3: does kind of feel like that, though, right, because every
- 5:19Speaker 3: target that you've gone after seemingly has decided to go elsewhere,
- 5:24Speaker 3: and that's every one of them. That's part of the
- 5:27Speaker 3: larger issue to me.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And then guess what if we're losing it because of
- 5:32Speaker 2: a player named Donnie Freeman who he didn't know who
- 5:34Speaker 2: he was just a few days ago. What's gonna happen
- 5:37Speaker 2: when Mark Pope does not get Tyrant Stokes, which it's
- 5:41Speaker 2: really heavily trending. He's going to Kansas. Why it's taking
- 5:45Speaker 2: so long, I don't know. It's inexcusable. I just just
- 5:49Speaker 2: named the It's almost like he's toying with schools at
- 5:53Speaker 2: this point. Oh yeah, I mean why wouldn't everybody Again,
- 5:56Speaker 2: everybody's talking about it. Yeah, okay, Well, it's just going
- 6:01Speaker 2: to add more pressure to him when he blows up
- 6:03Speaker 2: and it's not the player everybody thought he was going
- 6:05Speaker 2: to be, so I can create domons too, okay, cracks
- 6:11Speaker 2: or domins soaking a tight butt. So anyway, where did
- 6:17Speaker 2: that come from? Anyway?
- 6:21Speaker 4: Uh?
- 6:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I neither do I. But I'm frustrated,
- 6:27Speaker 2: and uh I am. I'm frustrated, and I'm doing my
- 6:32Speaker 2: best to remain positive. And it's awfully hard to start
- 6:36Speaker 2: a show off and you're not in a positive mindset.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I don't know how to be positive about this.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Uh.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Listen, the young man has has had all kinds of
- 6:45Speaker 2: injury issues, especially with his feet, and the fact that
- 6:49Speaker 2: we're disappointed about this, it's like, well, no, it's that's
- 6:52Speaker 2: not what you should be disappointed me.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I don't think it's him though, right, I don't. I
- 6:56Speaker 3: don't think all this disappointment is coming directly from the
- 7:00Speaker 3: Donnie Freeman news. I think it's just a culmination of everything.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I mean, we talked about it last week when Zoom committed,
- 7:06Speaker 3: Like then it was finally something to feel good about
- 7:10Speaker 3: and you got a player come in and you can
- 7:12Speaker 3: start to dream a little bit what he can be.
- 7:15Speaker 3: But that momentum was all halted. We we haven't had
- 7:20Speaker 3: any positive good news in the last what week and
- 7:23Speaker 3: a half ever, since the zoom dyall news.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I guess you got the news that Trent
- 7:29Speaker 2: Noah was coming back. Whoop? Do do I like that response?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Right there?
- 7:35Speaker 3: Well done, So Trent Noah is coming back? How do
- 7:38Speaker 3: you respond? Woo, yeah, let's go.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Well it's it's uh man, it's it's really uh yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Here's the thing for me, here's the thing that I'm
- 7:49Speaker 3: really struggling with with all this. Yes, for years, maybe
- 7:53Speaker 3: for all of time, Kentucky sold itself right. The name
- 7:57Speaker 3: on the front of the jersey was an to get
- 8:01Speaker 3: anybody you wanted on campus, because everybody wanted to play
- 8:05Speaker 3: for the University of Kentucky. Why is that not the case?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Now?
- 8:09Speaker 3: I get there's more parody across the landscape of college basketball.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I get we've got nil and all these players are
- 8:16Speaker 3: greedy and they want their share of the pie. But
- 8:19Speaker 3: why is Kentucky not selling itself anymore? I don't know
- 8:24Speaker 3: of any school that's selling itself anymore.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Duke Duke's still getting whoever they want for the most part. Yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 2: but how's that turning out? I mean, hasn't led to championships.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Now they're having fun seasons, And when I compare what
- 8:40Speaker 3: Duke has done the last two years to what you've
- 8:43Speaker 3: seen under Mark Pope. What would be more fun as
- 8:46Speaker 3: a Kentucky fan probably having that roster in the experience
- 8:49Speaker 3: that Duke has had. Despite no national championships, at least
- 8:52Speaker 3: it's been fun seasons.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Well, that's been a fun regular season. It's not getting
- 8:56Speaker 2: to the NCAA Final four. I mean they're not even
- 8:59Speaker 2: making the final fours. So they're losing in the late
- 9:01Speaker 2: eight the last two years. Yeah, but you're missing my point.
- 9:04Speaker 2: The way the way they're getting there is a lot
- 9:07Speaker 2: more fun. It's like you're going on a trip to Florida.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Do you want to ride in a minivan or do
- 9:12Speaker 2: you want to ride in a corvette? But again, they're
- 9:14Speaker 2: only probably going to be a little more fun. They're
- 9:16Speaker 2: only winning one or two more games. So what.
- 9:20Speaker 3: M I don't know that I agree with that. Okay, Well,
- 9:24Speaker 3: I'd rather have a fun regular season. Okay, so you're
- 9:27Speaker 3: a regular season.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Knowing that it's going to lead to the same result
- 9:32Speaker 2: to an Elite eight, So you would rather have a
- 9:35Speaker 2: fun regular season even though the results primarily the same the.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Last two years. I would have rather been Duke than Kentucky.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Really yeah, I could never say that. So you can
- 9:45Speaker 3: say that, but I would never say that. But I
- 9:48Speaker 3: guess they're doing okay. I guess they're doing a little
- 9:50Speaker 3: bit better. But I would rather be a Michigan right now.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I'd rather be a Yukon. I think Yukon is bringing
- 9:57Speaker 3: more than a Duke is. I think a bench.
- 10:00Speaker 2: If john Shire doesn't get it going on next year
- 10:03Speaker 2: or the year after that, as far as making at
- 10:05Speaker 2: least the final four, I think players are going to
- 10:08Speaker 2: become disinterested in Duke.
- 10:10Speaker 3: You'll, honestly, you'll probably see a lot of the same
- 10:13Speaker 3: stuff that you're seeing at Kentucky right exactly. I mean,
- 10:16Speaker 3: the fans will get to a point where, Okay, we
- 10:19Speaker 3: like this dude, but it's just not going to work out.
- 10:22Speaker 3: And I feel like that's where kind of where Kentucky
- 10:24Speaker 3: is right now.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I mean, the news that you're getting from Duke is
- 10:26Speaker 2: not kind of the news that you want right now.
- 10:29Speaker 2: It's off the court, it's not on the court type stuff,
- 10:33Speaker 2: so which is really kind of a shame. I mean,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw the news about Mike
- 10:37Speaker 2: Krzyzewski's grandson, which is really kind of sad. Wasn't he fifteen?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Is that what I saw? I think the person he
- 10:45Speaker 2: hit was fifteen? Okay? No, Skrzewski's grandsons in his mid
- 10:52Speaker 2: to late twenties, I think, okay, yeah. I had briefly
- 10:55Speaker 2: saw the headline. I didn't really want to discuss it
- 10:57Speaker 2: on my show, so I didn't bring it up. But
- 11:00Speaker 2: I thought I saw that his grandson was fifteen. I
- 11:02Speaker 2: was like, first of all, was he driving, Yeah, fifty's fifteen.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Second of all, was he driving while intoxicated? Were Wow?
- 11:10Speaker 2: I mean that's a life right there. Man, fifteen year
- 11:13Speaker 2: old pulled over for something like that. I mean, come on,
- 11:17Speaker 2: weren't you driving at fifteen?
- 11:20Speaker 3: I was with my parents, I guess, yes, okay, well
- 11:24Speaker 3: with your parents. You can't drive by yourself at fifteen.
- 11:27Speaker 2: No. No. That was the one thing I could not
- 11:30Speaker 2: wait the summer before I got my driver's license. I
- 11:33Speaker 2: could not wait to get my driver's license. And as
- 11:37Speaker 2: soon as I got it, I was out in the date. No.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, taking a girl to go see a movie. By
- 11:41Speaker 3: the way, I did want to make a correction, I
- 11:44Speaker 3: said there. There hasn't been any excitements since Zoom completely
- 11:47Speaker 3: forgot about Alex Wilkins. That is an exciting pickup. I
- 11:51Speaker 3: think that's gonna be a fun piece for Kentucky this year.
- 11:53Speaker 3: So I did want to correct that. Okay, yeah, I
- 11:57Speaker 3: guess so, all right, just we need more dudes. I mean,
- 12:00Speaker 3: it just can't be that one and that's it. We
- 12:02Speaker 3: need a lot more people than just those two guys.
- 12:05Speaker 3: You need height, as it stands right great on the guards,
- 12:09Speaker 3: Malachi is your only big guy.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The backcourt's fantastic, the front well, and you hope it's
- 12:14Speaker 2: Malachi coming back. I think you will for sure. I
- 12:17Speaker 2: mean more times than not. He's not gonna go. He's
- 12:20Speaker 2: just using it to prepare himself for the future because
- 12:23Speaker 2: he will play in the NBA. He will get drafted,
- 12:25Speaker 2: but just not this year. There's too many people out there.
- 12:28Speaker 2: It's too deep right now for him to go.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But I mentioned it this morning. We're almost at the
- 12:32Speaker 3: point where you probably would have wished Yellovitch came back, right,
- 12:39Speaker 3: I mean, he feels like the best option that's left
- 12:42Speaker 3: out there.
- 12:42Speaker 2: You almost wish Brandy Garrison came back. You almost wish
- 12:45Speaker 2: a lot. And I know you don't.
- 12:47Speaker 3: I know you don't. Mo Diabante. I would take Brandon Garrison.
- 12:51Speaker 3: You're pushing it. Oh, come on?
- 12:53Speaker 2: Yeah, why do you have so much dislike for Brandon Garrison?
- 12:58Speaker 5: Wow?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Man, he has never you never even met the guy before,
- 13:02Speaker 2: and he's a bumm deal.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I mean, not in like I'm sure he's not off
- 13:05Speaker 3: the court of bum but on the court, yeah, he's
- 13:08Speaker 3: He can get out of here.
- 13:09Speaker 2: So let's go back to my original question. Do you
- 13:11Speaker 2: think this has really been a mess up by a
- 13:14Speaker 2: university Kentucky not bringing in a gentleman here?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, well, and then bringing in what's his name? Remind
- 13:21Speaker 3: me of his name again? Uh, Keithan Brown? Yeah, I
- 13:23Speaker 3: mean bringing in him, bringing him in, and everybody.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Just assuming that he's a GM.
- 13:30Speaker 3: But it's very clearly evident now that he's not acting
- 13:34Speaker 3: as a GM. He is strictly doing I don't know,
- 13:37Speaker 3: a player whatever his title is, analytics sorr. Yeah, I
- 13:40Speaker 3: don't know whatever he does, he's not acting as the
- 13:43Speaker 3: G so, yes, I don't know what the hesitation is.
- 13:45Speaker 3: And I heard it. I don't remember what show it
- 13:47Speaker 3: was on yesterday, but Rick Mattino apparently had a falling
- 13:53Speaker 3: out with his GM, and there would they were debating
- 13:57Speaker 3: whether that had anything to do with why Pope is
- 14:00Speaker 3: hesitant against hiring one because he saw how it played
- 14:02Speaker 3: out with Rick Patino. Maybe he's just skeptical about how
- 14:06Speaker 3: bad it could be. I don't I don't get it.
- 14:08Speaker 3: I have no idea what the hesitation is. I really don't.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I listen. I'd love to know what Mark Pope
- 14:15Speaker 2: thinks about Rick Patino today. Yeah, and would I would
- 14:19Speaker 2: love it.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I would love yeah, being a fly on the wall
- 14:21Speaker 3: last night in the pope household, Yes, when he's sitting
- 14:24Speaker 3: there talking to Leanne would have been incredible.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Absolutely, And uh So I don't know how to feel
- 14:31Speaker 2: about that. But I uh, the more that this is
- 14:35Speaker 2: going on, the more that I am literally getting really
- 14:38Speaker 2: concerned about universit, Kentucky basketball and Mark Pope's success. Rightfully,
- 14:43Speaker 2: so uh and I I just again, I don't want
- 14:47Speaker 2: to force out opinions right now because I want to
- 14:51Speaker 2: see how the off season plays out before we get
- 14:56Speaker 2: really concerned. But right now there is concerning and I
- 15:00Speaker 2: think it's deserved. It kind of feels like going into
- 15:04Speaker 2: the last season of Mark Stoops, right. I mean, you're just.
- 15:08Speaker 3: You want to try to be hopeful and see the
- 15:12Speaker 3: the rainbow at the end of the tunnel or whatever.
- 15:14Speaker 3: But yeah, it's it's really really hard at this juncture
- 15:18Speaker 3: to do that.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, And this is only year three, so this
- 15:22Speaker 2: is a pivotal next few weeks for Mark Pope and
- 15:26Speaker 2: uh if if it's you know, I've seen the memes
- 15:29Speaker 2: out there swinging the miss He's written a book called
- 15:32Speaker 2: uh with I mean, they're really funny memes.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Me okay, whatever they are memes I'm correcting you every
- 15:38Speaker 3: time from now on because memes.
- 15:41Speaker 2: All right. Pims cup? Have you ever had a Pims cup?
- 15:45Speaker 2: By the way, I have never even heard of that. Really,
- 15:47Speaker 2: it's a looker that they have in England. Yeah, pims cup.
- 15:51Speaker 2: You never you go what's it called the Wimbledon and
- 15:54Speaker 2: they serve pims cup there. You know how Uh, the eggs,
- 15:58Speaker 2: salad sandwiches are famous, said Augustin Nash On the Master's
- 16:02Speaker 2: Pim's cups are famous and known for as well as
- 16:05Speaker 2: strawberries and cream at the Wimbledon. Interesting tennis tournament more,
- 16:09Speaker 2: you know exactly. I'm curious are there other sporting events
- 16:14Speaker 2: that have food that you associate with? I don't think
- 16:19Speaker 2: there are. The hot dog eating Challenge, I associate. No,
- 16:23Speaker 2: well will you.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Oh God, that's not what I meant. But anyway, let's
- 16:29Speaker 1: go ahead. That was a good response.
- 16:30Speaker 2: No, it was.
- 16:30Speaker 1: It was a terrible response. It was a justin response.
- 16:33Speaker 1: It's what that was.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Let's go ahead, take our first break. Five O two
- 16:36Speaker 2: three four fourteen fifty. You want to call in five
- 16:38Speaker 2: O two four to one four fourteen fifty. If you
- 16:41Speaker 2: want to text in on the Whiskey thief text, don't
- 16:45Speaker 2: you tweet me it just cat ray. Plus you can
- 16:47Speaker 2: watch us because you've got us on this YouTube again.
- 16:50Speaker 2: But if you go to YouTube, just go to Big
- 16:53Speaker 2: X Sports Radio, Louisville. Yeah, I've remembered it every time
- 16:57Speaker 2: I've done a good job. I can't say me memes,
- 17:01Speaker 2: but I can say memes. You could say it now?
- 17:04Speaker 2: Why because we're not on No, because I told you, Okay, fine,
- 17:07Speaker 2: all right, we'll take a break. Say right, there a
- 17:09Speaker 2: lot more than justic CAATs coming right up, because I
- 17:11Speaker 2: gotta have.
- 17:13Speaker 6: I gotta hat's healthy, baby.
- 17:23Speaker 5: I don't know your community. Same Please please please don't
- 17:27Speaker 5: go see don't.
- 17:44Speaker 6: She was working every day down the street selling flowers
- 17:49Speaker 6: and she was blind. So I said, won't you please
- 17:54Speaker 6: believe me instead of running around and stop laughing all
- 17:58Speaker 6: the time.
- 18:01Speaker 2: She was, what am I listening?
- 18:04Speaker 1: Dear?
- 18:06Speaker 5: You know I will.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Maybe not now, but try. I have no idea who
- 18:13Speaker 2: this is or what song this is, but okay, it's
- 18:15Speaker 2: called do you believe in me? I thought that was appropriate.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well that's kind of why I picked the
- 18:21Speaker 2: one I picked today. Yeah, exactly, I know. I uh,
- 18:25Speaker 2: but I listen. No, I'm gonna be I'm gonna remain positive, positive, positive.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Michael Bennett is here today. Okay, Michael t Bennett. Love
- 18:35Speaker 2: it when we throw the middle name out, you know
- 18:37Speaker 2: you're positive? Is that what it is?
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 18:39Speaker 2: That is the most positive, Michael Bennett is when you
- 18:41Speaker 2: throw the teeth. Oh ye, Well, because you know, when
- 18:43Speaker 2: I heard my incomplete name out of my mom's mouth,
- 18:46Speaker 2: I knew I was in trouble, all right. When I
- 18:49Speaker 2: heard Michael Todd Bennett, I'm like, oh crap, what did
- 18:52Speaker 2: I do? And did you? Did your mom? Ever? Have
- 18:55Speaker 2: you go pick us what we used to call a switch.
- 18:59Speaker 2: She would go and I would be in so much
- 19:01Speaker 2: trouble as she goes. You'd go out there and you
- 19:03Speaker 2: pick a switch off that tree. No, we were strictly
- 19:06Speaker 2: a belt family. Oh really. Oh yeah. See my dad
- 19:09Speaker 2: would always threaten with the belt, but it was usually
- 19:12Speaker 2: right after dinner and he just wanted to loosen his
- 19:14Speaker 2: belt because he ate too much. We all caught on
- 19:17Speaker 2: after three or four times, because you know, it's like,
- 19:19Speaker 2: come on, dad, and we would make him laugh. He
- 19:22Speaker 2: could never stay mad at us. See my mom was
- 19:25Speaker 2: the enforcer, Yes she was. She used the belt.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Dad was just there to hold down the
- 19:31Speaker 3: hands so I couldn't come. Whoa, your dad held down
- 19:35Speaker 3: the hands and your mom whipped you.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 3: She would always bring him in just to like control me.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And then yeah, she would go to town by the way.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I also, this is a fun story by my mom
- 19:44Speaker 3: that we've laughed at over the years. I lost my
- 19:48Speaker 3: first tooth because.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Of my mom. What yeah, crazy.
- 19:52Speaker 3: So I guess I had left a toy of some
- 19:55Speaker 3: sort in the living room and I was just in
- 19:58Speaker 3: my room playing and here's he comes storming down the
- 20:01Speaker 3: hallway with that toy and she was basically like, pair
- 20:05Speaker 3: crop your toys and just launched it at me and
- 20:08Speaker 3: it hit me right in the face and I lost
- 20:09Speaker 3: the tooth. Crazy, right, Your mom threw a toy at you.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I don't think she was trying to hit me out.
- 20:16Speaker 3: She's not very god not very athletic, so I totally
- 20:20Speaker 3: believe she was aiming elsewhere.
- 20:21Speaker 2: But yeah, I had a teacher threw a trampler at
- 20:24Speaker 2: me one time. What Yeah, but I mean they probably
- 20:29Speaker 2: should have been fired. Now it's a stapler. This is
- 20:32Speaker 2: the seventies, and nothing like that ever happened. So anyway,
- 20:36Speaker 2: I think I was like ten or eleven. Yeah, missus Jefferson,
- 20:39Speaker 2: I loved her dearly.
- 20:41Speaker 3: If that's what went down in the seventies, what went
- 20:43Speaker 3: down in the forties, Yeah, well, well that is true.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Uh, let's get to the whiskey deep text line five
- 20:48Speaker 2: O two four one fourteen fifty Uh. One person said,
- 20:52Speaker 2: it seems it just seems like Pope lost the cat
- 20:55Speaker 2: and mouse game. He had two guys take take visits
- 20:59Speaker 2: and pick the one that he wanted. Then money came
- 21:03Speaker 2: in and it changed everything. Well, here's how I respond
- 21:07Speaker 2: to that. Justin you got I think great examples out
- 21:11Speaker 2: there of money and teams are probably the Yankees and
- 21:15Speaker 2: the Dodgers. Yeah, and they don't ever let money get
- 21:18Speaker 2: in the way. So if money's not an issue, go
- 21:21Speaker 2: ahead and pay him. If you have that much confidence
- 21:25Speaker 2: that is the player you want. Don't let money get
- 21:27Speaker 2: in the way. So what's the hesitancy? Is it because
- 21:30Speaker 2: of last year? I would say so? So what you
- 21:33Speaker 2: swung and missed, but doesn't mean you're gonna swing and
- 21:35Speaker 2: miss the second year. So if you believed in that player,
- 21:39Speaker 2: Mark Pope, go get them. Don't let money get in
- 21:41Speaker 2: the way. Yeah, but you can't risk having a a
- 21:44Speaker 2: hefty roster like you did last year. That why not?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Because looking how it played out, that's not a good look. Easy.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I understand it's not a good look. But what's gonna
- 21:54Speaker 2: be an even worse look is that you had the money,
- 21:56Speaker 2: you didn't spend it and you lose your job. That's okay,
- 22:02Speaker 2: So I would say, go spend the money if you
- 22:05Speaker 2: have that much belief. Just here's what I've always heard.
- 22:09Speaker 2: This is what my dad always taught me, and this
- 22:11Speaker 2: is why to teach my boys. If it's you know,
- 22:14Speaker 2: even at work, you always pretend within your budget. If
- 22:18Speaker 2: it's your own money, and if you would spend that
- 22:21Speaker 2: money on that investment, go do it, uh one thousand
- 22:25Speaker 2: percent every time. If you don't, if there's any hesitancy,
- 22:30Speaker 2: the next deal will come. So did Mark believe in
- 22:34Speaker 2: this player, Donny Freeman, or did he not? If he
- 22:38Speaker 2: did and he didn't spend the money, that's on Mark Pope, Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 2: I mean or I mean, we don't know though, you know,
- 22:46Speaker 2: we don't know, We don't know, we don't ever know
- 22:48Speaker 2: anything with it. We've heard that they're not gonna have
- 22:51Speaker 2: twenty two million this year. Maybe his hands are.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Tied by boosters and buy that, ain't i Elpha, I
- 22:56Speaker 3: don't think it's by boosters.
- 22:57Speaker 2: I mean, you hear Eli Capolittle. The President Versity is
- 23:00Speaker 2: saying that we need to cut budgets. Yet we're giving
- 23:03Speaker 2: an athletic director nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Yet
- 23:06Speaker 2: we need to cut budget and we're not gonna spend
- 23:09Speaker 2: it on players, but we're gonna give nine hundred and
- 23:11Speaker 2: fifty thousand dollars to an athletic director. I'm not letting
- 23:14Speaker 2: that go. I don't really Yeah, well, I think it's deserved.
- 23:18Speaker 2: We don't need to have a former athletic director getting
- 23:21Speaker 2: four million dollars from a university that's trying to cut budgets.
- 23:24Speaker 2: We just don't need it. One person said, oh, let
- 23:30Speaker 2: me get too good. Lord Josh texted in. He said,
- 23:35Speaker 2: I don't care whose fault it is. It needs to
- 23:38Speaker 2: be all costs. There is no urgency to fix it.
- 23:42Speaker 2: We just keep moving the goalpost. I don't care what
- 23:46Speaker 2: player it is, it's everything across the board. You have.
- 23:52Speaker 2: You should have contacted and had in person visits scheduled
- 23:56Speaker 2: the entire weekend after the portal opened. Then we talked
- 24:00Speaker 2: about high asking prices. Mark Pope started this crap by
- 24:05Speaker 2: paying twenty two million for the roster last year. He
- 24:08Speaker 2: helped create this mess. I digress. Fix it. Also, don't
- 24:13Speaker 2: tell me JMI has anything to do with this. Why
- 24:17Speaker 2: is Will Stein loading up with five and four star players?
- 24:22Speaker 2: Why is Craig Skinner and Kenny Brooks loading their roster
- 24:25Speaker 2: every year they have the same Jmi.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Ye, there's something there that and that tell we were
- 24:33Speaker 3: talking a little bit of all fair about this, but
- 24:35Speaker 3: that just that tells me that something further is going on.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Whether that's Mark Pope's weirdness, that that that.
- 24:43Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no, no, keep it's loaded out everywhere
- 24:47Speaker 2: I know, but let's not let's not say that on
- 24:49Speaker 2: this show.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I'm just saying I don't know what it is, but
- 24:52Speaker 3: there is something going on. Because that is a great
- 24:54Speaker 3: point there by Josh. Every other coach on campus is
- 24:58Speaker 3: killing hill. Yeah, why is Mark Pope not when Kentucky
- 25:02Speaker 3: basketball is the University of Kentucky. Those other sports aren't.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Now they're trying to get to that point, but men's
- 25:10Speaker 3: basketball is the university. Yeah, they should be getting the
- 25:13Speaker 3: recruits over anybody else. And why they're not as baffling,
- 25:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I simply can't answer that question because Josh, I think,
- 25:23Speaker 2: brought up a phenomenal point right there. Will Stein comes
- 25:29Speaker 2: to town and he has not only been the talk
- 25:33Speaker 2: of the state, the talk of the Southeastern Conference, he's
- 25:37Speaker 2: being the talk of the on the national level. People
- 25:41Speaker 2: all over the country are talking about what will Stein
- 25:44Speaker 2: is doing at lowly football program University Kentucky, and Mark
- 25:50Speaker 2: Pope doesn't have anything to say about it, because you
- 25:54Speaker 2: can't blame anybody else but look in the mirror and
- 25:56Speaker 2: say it might be me. So there's those reports that
- 26:01Speaker 2: you just mentioned. I don't want to throw Mark Pope
- 26:04Speaker 2: under the bus because of that, because people are saying
- 26:07Speaker 2: he's different. We're all different. I mean aren't you slightly
- 26:12Speaker 2: curious to get to the bottom of what's actually going down?
- 26:15Speaker 2: Of course I am, but we're not going to know
- 26:20Speaker 2: unless somebody out there writes a book about it, and
- 26:22Speaker 2: it'll be ten years down the road. Why the failure
- 26:25Speaker 2: of Mark Pope this year? So, but my optimism can
- 26:31Speaker 2: quickly turn to pessimism. So, but I don't want it
- 26:34Speaker 2: to right now. One let's see a forty eight handily
- 26:38Speaker 2: texted in saying Duke's getting close. Houston beat them two
- 26:42Speaker 2: years ago on the last second shot to go to
- 26:44Speaker 2: the final game. Yeah, but they also lost to Houston
- 26:49Speaker 2: when they were up by fourteen a double digits last year,
- 26:53Speaker 2: and then this past season they lost to Yukon and
- 26:58Speaker 2: they were leading Yukon by nineteen. So I would say
- 27:01Speaker 2: forty eight handling that Duke is going in the wrong
- 27:04Speaker 2: direction when it's trying to get to the final four.
- 27:07Speaker 2: So who's your top talent evaluator, the coach or a
- 27:12Speaker 2: general manager. So the coach wants these pieces, and then
- 27:17Speaker 2: the general manager decides how he's going to pay them.
- 27:20Speaker 2: See any conflict there, yes, but that's why the coach
- 27:26Speaker 2: is in control of everything. So you go out and
- 27:30Speaker 2: hire the person that works well with you. That's how
- 27:33Speaker 2: you build a successful business. There's always going to be
- 27:38Speaker 2: conflicts because you know what, a good employee will not
- 27:43Speaker 2: just be a yes man. We don't want a yes man.
- 27:46Speaker 2: We want somebody that's gonna say no to you and
- 27:49Speaker 2: tell them why not just say no to you, but
- 27:52Speaker 2: then tell them back it up with why they are
- 27:56Speaker 2: saying no. Who brought him in? Would it have been Popper,
- 28:00Speaker 2: Mark Pope, Mitch barn Mark Pope brought him in? Yeah,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I mean that's who should be bringing him in because
- 28:06Speaker 2: that's who's with him on the day to day. So
- 28:09Speaker 2: your top evaluator is the coach, your top evaluator, and
- 28:13Speaker 2: sometimes your top evaluator is your recruiting coach. I mean
- 28:17Speaker 2: just like at UK for football for many years until
- 28:21Speaker 2: that changed and that this was the failure of Mark Stoops,
- 28:25Speaker 2: Vince Merrill was the top evaluator for all the players.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Now obviously Mark Stoops had the final say, But when
- 28:32Speaker 2: that changed and it went to another assistant coach, so
- 28:36Speaker 2: did the whole dynamic of UK football. Same thing with
- 28:40Speaker 2: Mark Pope. Mark Pope is the final say. But you
- 28:43Speaker 2: know a lot of times you got a not a
- 28:45Speaker 2: general manager, but you got uh an assistant coach, head
- 28:49Speaker 2: recruiter that is your top evaluator. Aerobic was the top
- 28:54Speaker 2: evaluator for John Caliperry and they did phenomenal job. Now,
- 28:59Speaker 2: obviously John Caliperry was the final say, but Robig was
- 29:03Speaker 2: phenomenal at it, and then you had the closer. So yeah,
- 29:07Speaker 2: you have to have a money guy that comes in
- 29:10Speaker 2: and knows how to negotiate with all these agents, because
- 29:12Speaker 2: Mark Pope clearly does not. Majority of the coaches out
- 29:16Speaker 2: there do not know how to negotiate and have never
- 29:19Speaker 2: negotiated with agents out there, So to sit here and
- 29:22Speaker 2: rely them on money and contracts a mistake.
- 29:25Speaker 3: And he's never had to deal with that no before
- 29:28Speaker 3: nil correct. So I mean it's completely understandable to me
- 29:32Speaker 3: that he's in over his head and doesn't know what
- 29:34Speaker 3: he's doing in that regard. But that's where a GM
- 29:37Speaker 3: can help, and that's where I think a lot of
- 29:39Speaker 3: his frustrations coming from. You have options to go out
- 29:42Speaker 3: there and hire guys to help you with all this, yeah,
- 29:45Speaker 3: but instead we're not doing that. We're trying to figure
- 29:48Speaker 3: it all out ourselves.
- 29:50Speaker 2: One person said, we cannot overstate how big of a
- 29:54Speaker 2: get Alex Wilkins is. The kid is a stud that
- 29:57Speaker 2: people seem to be sleeping on. I'm happy with and Wilkins.
- 30:01Speaker 2: People need to quit with the doom and gloom. Tired
- 30:04Speaker 2: of hearing it. I agree with Alex Wilkins. I think
- 30:09Speaker 2: he's gonna be a ridiculously exciting piece. I know he
- 30:12Speaker 2: came from Furman, but if you look at tape of
- 30:15Speaker 2: that kid, he's he's gonna be awesome. One person said,
- 30:19Speaker 2: great song choice. Thank you. So somebody's liking those songs.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah, good for you. Anyway, Well let's see.
- 30:28Speaker 2: One person said, Michael, I don't think money is the problem.
- 30:33Speaker 2: If a kid or any twenty three year old transfer
- 30:36Speaker 2: wants to play at Kentucky, they will show up. Something
- 30:39Speaker 2: seems off, whether it is the sales, pitch or perception
- 30:43Speaker 2: by young people. I uh, yes, I don't think it
- 30:49Speaker 2: seems to be off. Something is off, and what that
- 30:53Speaker 2: is I have no idea, but justin something is totally
- 30:58Speaker 2: off with the back basketball program. I mean that's not
- 31:02Speaker 2: being negative, that's not being positive. Something different is happening
- 31:06Speaker 2: and I can't figure out what it is.
- 31:08Speaker 3: And that's the frustrating part because nobody really knows. We're
- 31:11Speaker 3: all spitballing here trying to figure out exactly what the
- 31:14Speaker 3: issues is.
- 31:15Speaker 2: But nobody knows. Yeah, and we may never know. One
- 31:19Speaker 2: person said, as frustrating as losing Freeman was, there will
- 31:22Speaker 2: be other players. Some will enter the portal today and
- 31:26Speaker 2: some will take their name out of the NBA draft.
- 31:30Speaker 2: That's true.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Portal does close the day, so you'll have finality on
- 31:33Speaker 3: who's all in, who you can go after. Maybe they
- 31:37Speaker 3: evaluate correctly and find people they're interested.
- 31:41Speaker 2: But this last minute stuff, it's for the dogs, Okay.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I mean I feel like we're getting scrappy seconds or
- 31:47Speaker 2: not scrappy sloppy all right about that? Have been a
- 31:50Speaker 2: lot of decisions made already, yeah, for what it's worth,
- 31:52Speaker 2: and we're not making decisions in favor of UK. So
- 31:56Speaker 2: that's that's the frustrating part to me. So anyway, right,
- 32:00Speaker 2: we gotta take a break. Five O two three four
- 32:01Speaker 2: fourteen fifty. You want to call in fab two four
- 32:03Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty. You want to text in on
- 32:06Speaker 2: the Whiskey Thief text line, or you can tweet me
- 32:08Speaker 2: at just a cat Raider keeps in to those texts
- 32:10Speaker 2: in I I do enjoy them. We have a lot
- 32:12Speaker 2: lot more to talk about. As I get a hiccup
- 32:14Speaker 2: right in the middle of what I'm seeing, I've been
- 32:16Speaker 2: hiccupping a lot lately. Any explanation why I will I
- 32:20Speaker 2: don't understand hiccups is because I take too deep a breath.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Hiccups suck. There's nothing worse, really nothing worse. But you
- 32:28Speaker 2: know what the weird part is. I love sneezing. Say
- 32:32Speaker 2: it seems like there is a gigantic relief when you sneeze.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Absolutely hiccup, you feel nothing so except for dens kind
- 32:39Speaker 2: of weird. Take right there, But anyway, let's go ahead
- 32:42Speaker 2: and take a break. Say right there a lot more justic
- 32:44Speaker 2: cats coming out.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Nobody figure figger you you are not me? Thinks that
- 33:31Speaker 5: I will go to just sensing.
- 33:35Speaker 2: You know, people are always talking about bands that they
- 33:38Speaker 2: wish would get back together. This is one of us,
- 33:41Speaker 2: rim rim. This is a band I really wish. I
- 33:44Speaker 2: mean you talking about my formidable days. This is a
- 33:48Speaker 2: band that I loved back in the day. Are em.
- 33:50Speaker 2: You know what ARIM stands for rapid eye movement, very
- 33:53Speaker 2: good you pass? Is that what the band name stands
- 33:57Speaker 2: for I think so, yeah, it is. It's answer rapid
- 34:00Speaker 2: eye movement. I get a lot of r em sleep. Yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 2: You know where they're from, don't you. I'm gonna guess England? No, No, Athens,
- 34:08Speaker 2: Georgia could have gave me a thousand guests. I know
- 34:11Speaker 2: you wouldn't guess that one. I figured you wouldn't.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Uh.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Five O two three eight four fourteen fifty. You want
- 34:15Speaker 2: to call in five O two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 34:18Speaker 2: You want to text in on the whiskey feed text line,
- 34:20Speaker 2: or youn tweet me just cat radio, or you can
- 34:23Speaker 2: listen or watch us, not just listen, but listen and
- 34:26Speaker 2: watch on YouTube at Big X Sports Radio, Louisville. Right correct,
- 34:31Speaker 2: All right, so, hey, how you doing? How you doing YouTube?
- 34:34Speaker 2: So which goes around the world. Yeah, I'd like to
- 34:37Speaker 2: know if that guy in Greece is watching us on YouTube?
- 34:40Speaker 2: Can you imagine? Good You're in Greece and you're seeing
- 34:43Speaker 2: Michael Bennett look like an idiot on YouTube? Yeah? All right,
- 34:46Speaker 2: let's go to the phone lines. John's up, what's going on? John?
- 34:51Speaker 1: Oh?
- 34:51Speaker 4: Michael, Michael, Michael? How you doing this morning?
- 34:56Speaker 2: It's great to save my life? John how are you.
- 35:01Speaker 4: I think I'm doing a little bit better now because
- 35:03Speaker 4: I'm starting to see some good wording by some people
- 35:07Speaker 4: on your text line. And at the end of Justin's
- 35:09Speaker 4: where they were kind of like, you know, calm down,
- 35:12Speaker 4: relax a little bit. You know, this whole thing with
- 35:17Speaker 4: Donnie Freeman, I mean, I wanted Donnie Freeman because arguably
- 35:22Speaker 4: on paper right now, based who's on the portal rankings,
- 35:28Speaker 4: he's the fifteenth best player you can get and everyone
- 35:32Speaker 4: else is behind him. Obviously, Yeah, that we can think of,
- 35:35Speaker 4: right right. But the thing is, like, like you guys said,
- 35:40Speaker 4: the portal closes today. So there's gonna be some NBA
- 35:42Speaker 4: guys that might be getting feedback right now that say, hey,
- 35:45Speaker 4: your fringe late round first, or you might be early second,
- 35:50Speaker 4: and this is you know, and they've got financial guys
- 35:52Speaker 4: that are probably saying, well, this is what your contract
- 35:54Speaker 4: world look like at that pick. So then those guys
- 35:56Speaker 4: are going to say, well, do I want to make
- 35:59Speaker 4: you know, one point to two point three million and
- 36:03Speaker 4: try this route, or do I want to go back
- 36:05Speaker 4: to college and make you maybe make two point five,
- 36:07Speaker 4: maybe make three million. And so some of these guys
- 36:10Speaker 4: then will come into the portal and guess what. Well,
- 36:12Speaker 4: Donnie Freeman was fifteenth, now he might be twenty seventh.
- 36:16Speaker 4: So at the end of the day, I mean, don't
- 36:19Speaker 4: get me wrong, I'm not gonna come on here like, oh,
- 36:21Speaker 4: I'm not upset that we didn't get Donny Freeman. I'm upset.
- 36:25Speaker 4: But maybe the staff, Michael and Justin, maybe the staff
- 36:30Speaker 4: has had maybe some slight communication somewhere with maybe not
- 36:35Speaker 4: necessarily the players, but maybe some form of some way.
- 36:38Speaker 4: They've got an inkling that there might be one or two,
- 36:41Speaker 4: maybe three guys in this NBA line that's going to
- 36:44Speaker 4: jump back in and maybe they feel like those are
- 36:46Speaker 4: better players.
- 36:47Speaker 2: John, Here's the issue. Here's the issue I have with that.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Where where does the confidence come from that those guys
- 36:55Speaker 3: are going to consider Kentucky.
- 36:58Speaker 4: I don't think you. I don't think you have a
- 37:00Speaker 4: You're right, Justin, I don't think you have one hundred
- 37:02Speaker 4: percent confidence. I mean, it's just it's kind of like
- 37:04Speaker 4: going to Vegas and you know, putting your numbers on
- 37:07Speaker 4: black or red here. You know, you just take a
- 37:09Speaker 4: you just take a pic and you see what happens.
- 37:13Speaker 4: There's no fifty to fifty line here. So now I
- 37:15Speaker 4: agree with your You're right, Justin, there's no confidence. But
- 37:18Speaker 4: do you let's say, okay, Justin, you pronounced his name
- 37:21Speaker 4: way better than I could this morning. What was that
- 37:23Speaker 4: guy I mentioned in the text?
- 37:27Speaker 2: Oh, I'd have to go back and look.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Let me see if he's from Iowa.
- 37:30Speaker 2: He's from Iowa to.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Yeah, they said, if this guy comes back out of
- 37:37Speaker 4: the draft, which would be a pipe dream, but let's
- 37:39Speaker 4: see if he did. If he comes out of the draft,
- 37:42Speaker 4: comes back to college and and remotely Kentucky has a
- 37:45Speaker 4: chance at all with this guy. He's arguably the number
- 37:48Speaker 4: one or number two player in the portal.
- 37:51Speaker 2: And yes, I appreciate your optimism there, John, But what
- 37:55Speaker 2: if that's not the case and Mark Pope doesn't get
- 37:58Speaker 2: any of these people you're you're talking about.
- 38:02Speaker 4: I think I think, for one, Michael, he'll even if
- 38:04Speaker 4: he doesn't get like one of those big time guys
- 38:08Speaker 4: we just mentioned there. I think the guy from a
- 38:11Speaker 4: I think it was George Mason and someone like that. Uh.
- 38:15Speaker 4: He he's a player that Kentucky could easily I think
- 38:19Speaker 4: maybe get. And I think his name is Justin or
- 38:22Speaker 4: James Madison, sorry, not George Mason. Justin McBride. Sorry, had
- 38:26Speaker 4: that name way wrong, but not in and and and
- 38:29Speaker 4: God forbid if uh and I want to I want
- 38:31Speaker 4: to say something here real quick on this Justin McBride.
- 38:34Speaker 4: And you may not listen to just the Katz, but
- 38:36Speaker 4: we hope you do because Michael Ben is awesome and
- 38:38Speaker 4: you should be listening to Justin.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Kaylinden, go ahead.
- 38:45Speaker 4: But if you're listening Justin McBride, please don't take that
- 38:49Speaker 4: or if someone clips this, don't take that as a
- 38:50Speaker 4: slide against you. But we we all know money talks,
- 38:54Speaker 4: be it and b s walks, and the point of
- 38:56Speaker 4: it is, there's a ranking system, and there's a paying system,
- 38:59Speaker 4: and right now Justin McBride has proven to be ranked
- 39:02Speaker 4: somewhere where he's proven to have a certain amount of
- 39:04Speaker 4: money of value. And so that's the reality of the
- 39:06Speaker 4: whole circumstances. So it's not a knock against that young man.
- 39:10Speaker 4: I think that young man could go to Kentucky or
- 39:12Speaker 4: somewhere else and move up and prove to everybody that hey,
- 39:15Speaker 4: I should have been number fifteen, I should have been
- 39:16Speaker 4: number ten. So we give individuals like that a chance. Obviously,
- 39:20Speaker 4: I think Michael it all tells on Stokes. They are
- 39:25Speaker 4: putting their chips in on this young man, and everybody
- 39:27Speaker 4: thinks he's gone to Kansas, Adidas and Nike's gonna work
- 39:30Speaker 4: something out. Whatever. He doesn't really want to be at
- 39:33Speaker 4: Kentucky and all this. Well, guys, I could say the
- 39:35Speaker 4: same thing. If he wanted to be at Kansas so bad,
- 39:38Speaker 4: he already be there. If he wanted to be at
- 39:40Speaker 4: Organ so bad, he already be there. So we consider
- 39:44Speaker 4: and play Devil's advocate and say, well, he doesn't want
- 39:46Speaker 4: to be at Kentucky because he'd already be there. Well,
- 39:47Speaker 4: the same thing for those of the schools.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I hear you. But here's the issue that I have
- 39:52Speaker 2: the fact that Mark Pope does not have a GM
- 39:56Speaker 2: that knows how to negotiate with these agents. Because the agents,
- 40:00Speaker 2: in my mind, are taking advantage of Mark Pope in
- 40:03Speaker 2: the University Kentucky because they saw how much they spent
- 40:06Speaker 2: last year. So they're saying, well, you know what, guys,
- 40:08Speaker 2: we may not want to go to UK, or we
- 40:10Speaker 2: may not want to go to uh Oregon or Kansas,
- 40:13Speaker 2: but let's let's you know, Kentucky has the money, Let's
- 40:17Speaker 2: use them as much as we can. And it's going
- 40:19Speaker 2: to be good for you because it's also going to
- 40:21Speaker 2: be lining the agent's pocket with a lot more money
- 40:24Speaker 2: as well. That's my biggest concern. And Mark Pope does
- 40:28Speaker 2: not know how to negotiate these types of deals, and
- 40:32Speaker 2: the fact that he doesn't it's proving to me this
- 40:35Speaker 2: year and last year he's getting taken advantage of.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, he's he said, you're right, Michael, he's
- 40:43Speaker 4: kind of set the presidents when not having a GM
- 40:46Speaker 4: that Kentucky can be like an imaginary piggybank, so we
- 40:50Speaker 4: can set the market a little bit and then teams
- 40:52Speaker 4: can go slightly higher and see if we'll push to
- 40:54Speaker 4: go higher or not. They're letting Kentucky set the bar
- 40:57Speaker 4: and then coming in and gobbling up when we shouldn't
- 40:59Speaker 4: be doing that. You know, we should not be doing
- 41:01Speaker 4: that at all. We should be doing it a different way,
- 41:04Speaker 4: and a GM would be perfect for that, and then
- 41:07Speaker 4: two other things real quickly. I believe I said it
- 41:10Speaker 4: on Justin Show this morning. There is a difference with
- 41:14Speaker 4: this fan base. I have been critical of Coach Pope.
- 41:17Speaker 4: In fact, I have a you know, I've had probably
- 41:19Speaker 4: a clip or something somewhere ESPN or something or anywhere
- 41:22Speaker 4: else where. I went off and said some stupid stuff
- 41:24Speaker 4: about coach Pope and said he needed to be the
- 41:27Speaker 4: F word, which is fired. And I think the F
- 41:30Speaker 4: word is dangerous. Sometimes we say it, you know, the
- 41:32Speaker 4: other F word. We don't like to say out loud
- 41:34Speaker 4: in public too much, but some do and then the
- 41:37Speaker 4: other word is fired. We've got to watch this because
- 41:41Speaker 4: we have a public perception, which your social media and
- 41:44Speaker 4: if you're on there just dogging these guys, you're talking
- 41:47Speaker 4: about their families, the players and the coaches. It makes
- 41:50Speaker 4: it unattractive where the players may not want to come
- 41:52Speaker 4: here too, because they see the high expectations and then
- 41:55Speaker 4: they see the burbage backing it where you're dogging these guys.
- 41:58Speaker 4: I think we got to dial that back. And I'm
- 41:59Speaker 4: as guilty have it as much as anybody else. And
- 42:02Speaker 4: I definitely apologize to any players or any coaches. That's
- 42:05Speaker 4: not right and I shouldn't do that as a human being,
- 42:07Speaker 4: and I need to reflect from that and learn from that.
- 42:10Speaker 4: One more quick thing. I hope you guys don't get
- 42:13Speaker 4: mad about this. This is just this is personal, not basketball.
- 42:17Speaker 4: I just want to say yours truly. John Here aka
- 42:21Speaker 4: John Geary and Evans Lely, Indiana is going to be
- 42:24Speaker 4: in a movie called Child of the Crimson Sky Wow,
- 42:28Speaker 4: and it's yeah, I'm going to play a soldier in
- 42:31Speaker 4: that movie. It's it's in the process of being made.
- 42:35Speaker 4: And on my and not to try to promote myself
- 42:39Speaker 4: out but well for Johnny trying.
- 42:40Speaker 2: To promote myself and talk about it. I'm not trying
- 42:44Speaker 2: to promote myself, but please let me just let me
- 42:47Speaker 2: talk a few minutes about me promoting myself that I'm
- 42:49Speaker 2: not promoting.
- 42:51Speaker 4: Go on there and watch quick videos. I don't want
- 42:53Speaker 4: to say anymore, but it's gonna be fun. Michael, your
- 42:55Speaker 4: guys in the show is awesome. Justin you are awesome.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Thanks for giving me time.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Guys, hear from you. Oh my gosh. I'm not trying
- 43:03Speaker 2: to you know, anytime somebody says I'm not trying to
- 43:06Speaker 2: do something, they are trying to do something. I love that. John,
- 43:11Speaker 2: don't say that. Just go ahead and promote it. I
- 43:13Speaker 2: don't care. But don't come on here and say I'm
- 43:16Speaker 2: not trying to promote, but let me promote this. It's
- 43:18Speaker 2: pretty cool. That is pretty good in a movie. Our
- 43:22Speaker 2: car was on Netflix one. I now have more questions
- 43:24Speaker 2: about the movie than I do Mark Pope. I want
- 43:29Speaker 2: to know about this movie and how do I get
- 43:31Speaker 2: in this movie? I can play a soldier? Could you
- 43:34Speaker 2: think you all right? Because we just got a couple
- 43:36Speaker 2: of minutes before we got to take the hour break?
- 43:38Speaker 2: But do you think you could ever act in a movie? Yes?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Do you think anything is difficult? I wouldn't think so. No,
- 43:46Speaker 3: I don't think so either, because I mean I can.
- 43:48Speaker 3: I can turn my mindset on a dime. Yes, I
- 43:53Speaker 3: think I could. I could play any role you wanted me.
- 43:56Speaker 2: You could turn your mindset on dime. Okay, I want
- 43:58Speaker 2: you to turn your mindset. UK is better than I
- 44:01Speaker 2: you I can't do that. Oh that you just said
- 44:04Speaker 2: you could. That's acting. No, you can't act.
- 44:06Speaker 6: You know.
- 44:06Speaker 3: My biggest dream and if anybody out there has a
- 44:10Speaker 3: lead for this, let me know.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:12Speaker 3: What I would want to do more than anything else.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I would love to be a voice actor. Oh oh yeah,
- 44:19Speaker 3: I have this dream of walking into a studio they
- 44:22Speaker 3: show me a picture of the character and just let
- 44:26Speaker 3: me come up with the voice for that character.
- 44:27Speaker 2: That would be my biggest dream in life. I have
- 44:30Speaker 2: had more people tell me, Michael, you have a voice
- 44:32Speaker 2: for radio. I never knew I did, and it's like
- 44:35Speaker 2: you should be in uh, you should be in voice acting,
- 44:41Speaker 2: to the point where somebody actually sent me names of
- 44:44Speaker 2: agents to call. Really and I never did it. Yeah,
- 44:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I just I thought that's kind of silly,
- 44:50Speaker 2: because I think I think one of the best voice
- 44:52Speaker 2: actors out there right now, who just got a huge
- 44:55Speaker 2: reward from AFI Sunday Night is Eddie Murphy. I think
- 45:01Speaker 2: between Eddie Murphy and unfortunately who's not no longer around him,
- 45:05Speaker 2: or Robin Williams. Yeah, I think there are a bunch
- 45:08Speaker 2: of people out there that can do voices that are
- 45:10Speaker 2: just Hank Azaria. Do you know who Hank Azaria is Brockmyer. Yes,
- 45:18Speaker 2: I would have to say he is probably the greatest
- 45:21Speaker 2: voice actor out there an actor. By the way, did
- 45:25Speaker 2: you watch Brockmeyer? What was brock Oh? No, I did
- 45:30Speaker 2: not watch Brock Well. I saw a couple of scenes
- 45:33Speaker 2: from it, maybe four or five minutes.
- 45:35Speaker 3: It looked a little too silly. Watch the first two seasons. Really,
- 45:38Speaker 3: I think the first two seasons are really really good.
- 45:41Speaker 3: After that, it it kind of turns the crap. But
- 45:43Speaker 3: that's where he's a baseball announcer. He's just completely I
- 45:47Speaker 3: mean he's basically Harry Carey hammered in the booth every game.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Oh I like that. Okay, yeah, I'll have to go
- 45:53Speaker 2: back and watch that thing because I think Hank is there.
- 45:56Speaker 2: I think one of his funniest roles was in Birdcage.
- 46:00Speaker 2: I don't think I've seen him in anything other than Brockmeyer.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Oh really, Yeah, you need to go watch this movie
- 46:06Speaker 2: called Bird Cage. It's got Nathan Lane and Robin Williams
- 46:11Speaker 2: and all. Who's the famous actor that just they found
- 46:15Speaker 2: him in his house passed away with his wife. Gene
- 46:20Speaker 2: Hackman is in that movie. Hilarious movie. But Hank is area.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I mean, he's one of the funniest guys out there.
- 46:27Speaker 2: All right, we gotta take a break. FABO two three
- 46:29Speaker 2: eight four fourteen fifty. You want to call fab two
- 46:31Speaker 2: four one four fourteen fifty. You want to text in
- 46:33Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Thief. Text on. We'll get back to
- 46:35Speaker 2: your text as soon as we get back. Plus, Corey
- 46:37Speaker 2: Price is going to be here. We'll be right back.
- 46:39Speaker 2: This is just a cat.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm totally lost where I am on text messages
- 47:13Speaker 2: because you know, for some reason, some are green, you know,
- 47:16Speaker 2: they indicate by color when you haven't read them, and
- 47:19Speaker 2: the other ones and they indicate by a white background.
- 47:22Speaker 2: I have no idea because sometimes they come across as green,
- 47:26Speaker 2: sometimes they come across as white. I don't know where
- 47:27Speaker 2: I am. So if I'm reading another one, please stop
- 47:30Speaker 2: me that I've already read. Okay, right, Michael, I don't
- 47:32Speaker 2: think money is the problem. Have I read this one?
- 47:35Speaker 2: I don't think so. If a kid or any twenty
- 47:39Speaker 2: three year old transfer wants to play at Kentucky, they
- 47:41Speaker 2: will show up. Something seems off. Yeah, I've read this
- 47:44Speaker 2: one before and I agree. Whether it's the sales, pitch
- 47:47Speaker 2: or perception by young people, something is off at Kentucky.
- 47:51Speaker 5: Uh.
- 47:52Speaker 2: One person said, I am trying to understand why Kentucky
- 47:55Speaker 2: isn't going after the top guys. We didn't go after
- 47:58Speaker 2: anyone in the top twenty in the two answer portal.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Is that true? That can't be true? Right? John was
- 48:06Speaker 2: saying Freeman's in the number fifteen. Right, Yeah, he was saying,
- 48:11Speaker 2: of the ones that are still remaining, I haven't looked
- 48:13Speaker 2: at the transfer portal ranking, so I honestly can't speak
- 48:16Speaker 2: to this.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Yeah, one person said, I will die.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Let's not you. That's the problem. John Kentucky is too
- 48:27Speaker 2: prestigious to just be gambling on what may or may
- 48:30Speaker 2: not happen. They should have a plan. They clearly don't.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Is that part of the problem right there? And is
- 48:39Speaker 2: it the fact that maybe that's the main problem, there's
- 48:42Speaker 2: no plan. How could you be a coach of a
- 48:47Speaker 2: high major Division I school and not have a plan.
- 48:52Speaker 2: I really find that hard to believe that Mark Pope
- 48:55Speaker 2: doesn't have a plan. I mean, it just seems like
- 48:57Speaker 2: it's just discombobulated.
- 48:58Speaker 3: I think he had a plan. I just don't think
- 49:00Speaker 3: it was a well formulated plan. And honestly, we talked
- 49:04Speaker 3: about it either yesterday or late last week. But the
- 49:07Speaker 3: frustrations only exasper exacerbated because of exasperbate whatever, you know
- 49:14Speaker 3: what I'm trying to say. We both can't say it exacerbated,
- 49:17Speaker 3: But it's become a bigger issue because of what everyone
- 49:20Speaker 3: else is doing. When you're seeing Louisville have success, when
- 49:23Speaker 3: you're seeing Indiana get guys out of the portal schools,
- 49:26Speaker 3: across the country are getting their pieces out of the
- 49:29Speaker 3: portal in Kentucky's not and that's making it even more frustrating.
- 49:33Speaker 2: And it all it almost points you straight to Mark Pope.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how house you can look
- 49:39Speaker 2: at it. It's it points straight to the head coach.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I mean you take the criticism and you take the
- 49:46Speaker 2: the the happy days, good and bad days. Uh. When
- 49:51Speaker 2: Josh texted and said, here comes John moving the goal
- 49:54Speaker 2: post again. Oh we need Freeman, we want Freeman. He
- 49:58Speaker 2: picks Saint John's now saying, oh, well he had foot
- 50:01Speaker 2: problems and he could actually be lower on the list
- 50:04Speaker 2: of the other player's withdrawal from draft. What are we doing?
- 50:08Speaker 2: And see that's why I'm taking out Freeman altogether. It's
- 50:11Speaker 2: not Freeman. It's the fact that the coaching staff took
- 50:15Speaker 2: forever to recruit him and you lost him. That's a problem.
- 50:20Speaker 2: So one person said, I need someone to explain where
- 50:25Speaker 2: all this money is from deals with Nike JMI fanatics.
- 50:32Speaker 2: I get we have money from revshare, but where is
- 50:35Speaker 2: this money with these A little help please, Well, there
- 50:39Speaker 2: are major donors out there that are giving money. A
- 50:43Speaker 2: lot of that's coming from there so, but we still
- 50:47Speaker 2: don't know where it's going. No, and we never will.
- 50:50Speaker 2: It's going to Mitch Barnhardt nine and fifty dollars. I'm
- 50:55Speaker 2: just not gonna let that die. Ama, It's gonna bug
- 50:58Speaker 2: me to my death. I think one person said that
- 51:02Speaker 2: Connecticut team, which blew no. Oh. So now we have
- 51:06Speaker 2: to be gentle kind with our words in regard to
- 51:10Speaker 2: these recruits. Maybe throw in a comfort dog. Well done
- 51:15Speaker 2: in forty eight handily. Yeah. I know we are very
- 51:22Speaker 2: outspoken when it comes to a fan base. Yeah, okay, think,
- 51:26Speaker 2: but with that comes when things are going good. We
- 51:31Speaker 2: are very outspoken in a positive way. So there's good
- 51:34Speaker 2: and bad with it, and I think there's more good
- 51:38Speaker 2: than there is bad. That's what I'm gonna say. I
- 51:42Speaker 2: don't like it. Listen, when college athletes were not paid
- 51:51Speaker 2: and we're amateurs, I get it, you can't say anything
- 51:56Speaker 2: about them. But now that they're being paid, I think
- 52:00Speaker 2: the criticism goes along with it. So I've changed how
- 52:03Speaker 2: I feel about it. The criticism is deserved when it
- 52:06Speaker 2: should be said. Now, don't go after family members or
- 52:10Speaker 2: anything like that. I wish people would not uh use
- 52:17Speaker 2: their name or at them with their account when using
- 52:21Speaker 2: criticism are Yeah, just just send it out there. They
- 52:24Speaker 2: want to search their name, that's one thing. But don't tag. No, No,
- 52:28Speaker 2: that's the that's the part I don't like at all.
- 52:30Speaker 2: But oh, somebody finally showed up today. Yeah, so justin,
- 52:53Speaker 2: somebody's a little tardy today. Yeah, because he to the
- 52:57Speaker 2: left or the right, he's to the right of me.
- 53:00Speaker 2: He's over here. Oh do we not have a camera
- 53:02Speaker 2: on him? So nobody's gonna see Corey? We have Corey
- 53:04Speaker 2: Price in the show, and nobody's going to know. That's
- 53:06Speaker 2: what he gets for being late.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Well a face for radio, mister Bennett.
- 53:11Speaker 3: If you want to be on the camera, you got
- 53:12Speaker 3: to be on time. What the hell, Corey? You're never late?
- 53:16Speaker 3: And then and you're late today when we needed to
- 53:18Speaker 3: be on time. That you're so wow, Maybe not get
- 53:23Speaker 3: carried away? Yeah, how do we handle this?
- 53:26Speaker 2: Justin?
- 53:26Speaker 3: Should he be allowed to come next week? I think
- 53:28Speaker 3: we've got to let him go right? Yeah, there you go,
- 53:30Speaker 3: one week suspension.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I like that.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Yes, you gotta pay a fine. Pay a fine or
- 53:35Speaker 3: one week suspension?
- 53:36Speaker 2: Choices?
- 53:38Speaker 1: Are you got to compliment me and I will pay
- 53:40Speaker 1: what I get paid for this job?
- 53:45Speaker 2: Fine, so we're not getting anything. I know you'll get

- 56:43Speaker 2: mean they're they're going to own Pimlico or they're going
- 56:46Speaker 2: to own the actual races? Just the race itself, I believe?
- 56:49Speaker 2: Can we run it at Churchill? Is that a thing?
- 56:52Speaker 1: No?
- 56:52Speaker 2: I don't know.

- 1:08:20Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's hard to judge because we're going
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: against each other, So I mean, there there are times
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: where the O line didn't look well. So is it
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: is it because our D line is good? Is it
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: because our old line is bad? It's it's kind of
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: hard to They had fifteen players out too.

- 1:08:50Speaker 1: So uh, Mention looked looked pretty good. His first DRIVEE
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: was kind of shaky, but I think every other drive

- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I'm I'm excited. I just the just the feel of
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: it was just different from from past uh spring spring games.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so, uh I'm ready. I am too. Uh you're
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: going to the game tonight. UK is coming to Louisville
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: to face U of LU. That's gonna be a good game.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: I mean, you know, UK beat him in Lexington the
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: last time that you've faced each other. Do you do
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: you hope to see the same thing again this week?

- 1:09:32Speaker 1: a chance to beat Louisville, I'm all for it.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Who isn't chess checkers? Bad? Beton?
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I mean I don't care.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, if you see my buddy bench, you know,

- 1:09:54Speaker 2: who doesn't I want to be seen.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: But I'm not going, well, I'm not because the uh yeah,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: well okay as not pointed in my direction. He wants
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: to be hurt right now, everybody, How does Corey look today?
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Any other day? He's wearing his uniform. He's got a
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: great looking sweatshirt on. I do like that one. That's
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: good looking. All right, Corey Price, always fun having you
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: with us.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: And uh, I just want to say, uh, sorry about
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: here about Matt's dog rough but uh, you know, thoughts
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: to him.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: We haven't talked about that, so not on air. Yeah,
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: not on air. We haven't talked about but we we
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: will in a couple of minutes now that you just
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: front of core Yeah, cats out of the hat. So yeah,
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: speaking of cats, but we'll be talking about dog dogs
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: out of the hat and uh might be into something
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: else in a little bit, but all right, good to
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: have you, Corey. Always fun seeing you and we'll see
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: next Susy. Okay, maybe maybe he'll be on time next week?
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: Maybe are are we imposing one week band? Bring our
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: fine money. I'll guarantee, I'll here's how you can make
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: up for us if you bring us. If you can
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: go anywhere in the city and find us Indiana asparagus,
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: we'll be happy.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Oh wait, Corey, we will be on the backside next week,
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: so well that is right, we'll need to discuss.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we're at the backside of churstle downs next.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Week, I might be able to to get a pass.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Okay, so we'll get you in. Don't worry about oh yeah,
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: so yeah, we'll get you in. If you want to
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: come to the backside, Corey Price will be at the backside.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: I will be there. Okay, good, all right, everybody, that's
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Corey Price right there. I love how you in that
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: right there. We're gonna take a break five O two
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: three and four fourteen fifty. You want to call five
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: O two four one four fourteen fifty. We'll get back
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: to your whiskey thief tech law uh in just a
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: couple of minutes after the break, or you can tweet
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: me at just the cat radio. Stay right there. No
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: more of Corey Price come out. Well he can say
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: if he wants to, always like it what he says.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: You say, lost my favorite.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: Sign progress you play basketball?
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: You would say, that's my belief in the Holy Church.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: Oh my, I didn't say that. I promised I didn't.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: That was thing that's saying that I missed this guy.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: I heard you did, Okay, I heards thinks say it? Yeah, okay, good,
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: thank you. One person texted out five was two four
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty. I couldn't care less that Indiana
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: and Louisville is doing in what Indiana Louis's doing in
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: the portal, those schools are irrelevant to what UK is doing.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: Just a whole different ballgame. Uf L with Kenny Payne
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: was less harsh and toxic than what UK is with Pope,
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: and Pope had been to a Sweet sixteen. You agree
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: with that.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: The first part, So I wasn't trying to say that
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: you all care about what Indiana and Louisville's doing in
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: the portal. I was just saying that it maybe makes
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: it more frustrating to see what anyone around's doing. But
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: I also agree with the sentiment that it doesn't really
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: matter at the end of the day. I mean, this
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: is all about what Kentucky is or isn't doing. Know
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: about the last part though, When Kenny Payne was at
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: Louisville it was it was pretty harsh and toxic, although
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: that kind of became like a laughable toxicity at the
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: end of it.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but maybe it is more harsh and toxic with
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: Kentucky and Pope. I don't know. Michael stripping for YouTube
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: didn't have that on my Bengo card today Bingo, Yeah,
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: I've just taken my I don't know why Corey didn't
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: like my vest. I mean it's salmon color. What's wrong
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: with my vest?
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: Can't believe you bend into his beliefs and took it
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: off for him. Well, I would have made him sit
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: there through, especially with him showing up late.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you're right about that. I probably should have
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: also said, it's Keeland, the only thing in Lexington. What
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: else is there to do?
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: Wouldn't it wouldn't take in recruits for the castle be
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: so much more cool than Keitlan.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Maybe having dinner there something like that. You know, everybody
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: wants to go to Jeff Ruby's and Lexia and it's
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: the most overrated steakhouse in the world. Heck, I rather
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: see Lexington Airport than ke Oh my gosh, Now Keenland
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: is pretty. I think you're being a little hard. No,
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: Keenlan is pretty, but it doesn't speak to young people.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Oh now, you you don't know that unless you're a
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: unless you grow up in the horse racing scene. I
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: don't think that's necessarily true. If you when you go
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: in the spring in the fall, it is packed with
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: UK students. I mean packed, it's more UK students than
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: e Bay. Doesn't that speak to Is there anything else
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: in Lexington? Yeah? That was my Listen. I've got a
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: lot of great friends over in Lexington, lots of great friends.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I couldn't live there. That's why I live in Louisville.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: And I'm not just no, I'm not trying to crap them. No,
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I'm not either.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: I'm just saying there's there's gotta be better options. And
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: I put myself as a seventeen eighteen year old, nineteen
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: year old kid.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: I don't care about Keith. One person said as rom
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: cons Go nine Months is a good funny one with
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Hugh Grant and Robin Williams. I don't think I've ever
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: heard of that one. Have you heard of that? Because
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I like Hugh Grant and I love Robin Williams. I
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: don't know U Grant. Does he come across as a
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: jerk to you? I only look him up?
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Oh you don't even know who Hugh Grant is? Come on,
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: not the best with actors by name?
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: I like you Grant. He's been in lots of really
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: good movies. You'll recognize lots of his movies if he's
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: a famous British actor.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: All right, well never mind, Uh what this is unbelievable.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: We don't worry about you like I'm in nineteen ninety two.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: I don't agree.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: No, oh you don't like him? No, okay, there you go. Uh,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: the blue bloods don't get the benefit of the doubt anymore.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: I agree if you start right there. The days of
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: players coming for the name on the front are long gone.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: If UK doesn't get j Lucas next year, we will
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: be left behind and become the Nebraska of college basketball.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: Well that's good, right, Nebraska's been awesome. They just went
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: to a Sweet sixteen for the first time ever. Hell yeah, well,
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: I and why is everybody's eggs in the Jay Lucas basket.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: That's the one thing I don't understand. Everybody's so high
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: on Jay Lucas.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: I don't know. It's baffling. Yeah, I'm right there. That
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: would not be the guy that I would want. Forty
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: eight handily, said Pimlico's history. Old Hilltop was the scene
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: of the Great match between Triple Crown Champion War Admiral
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: and Seabiscuit in nineteen thirty seven. That is correct, did
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: you ever see the movie Seabiscuit. I don't think so.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Maybe I might have run across that at some point,
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: but I don't think so. I would say Sea Biscuit
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: and Secretariat are the best horse movies. War Horse I
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: would probably put up there are the best horse movies
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: I've ever seen, But Sea Biscuits, I will say. You know,
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: people always say the book is better than the movie.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: This is true for Seabiscuit. The book was far better
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: than the movie, but the movie was fantastic. Are we
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: surprised there's not more horse racing movies? Probably?
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: So?
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: What other famous horses would you see? All right, I'll
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: tell you a famous movie. Are a famous horse? They
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: should make a movie on Sovereignty. You're right, I agree,
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: you're so biased. Would you just let me finish my sentence, please,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: because I'm gonna forget the name, and then we're just
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: gonna to go on. Barbara. I think would be a
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: phenomenal movie if they ever decided to do a movie
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: on a horse. Are there any other horses out there
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: that you would think would be don't say Sovereignty. I
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: think that would be mine. That bird is a great one, yes,
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: mind that Burgen, maybe even charismatic who was what eighty
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: something to one to win the Kentucky Derby and one
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: mind that bird was awesome because that was Calvin Bourell.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: I love that.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: What was the one like five six years ago that
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: was like fifty sixty to one whatever? It ended up
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: going off at Mandaloon.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: Oh, I can't remember the name, a country House or something.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: Country house, really, I don't remember. That doesn't sound familiar.
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: It was like it was a big underdog. Yeah, okay.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: By the way, you know, Core Price had that breaking
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: news and Churchill Downs is buying just the rights to
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: the Preakness and the Black Eyed Susan. You know, the
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: Black Eyed Susan is their version of the Oaks. So
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: that's what they're doing. They are buying it tell me
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: you have too much money without telling me you have
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: too much money. Under the terms of the DLCDI will
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: license to the State of America and the intellectual property
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: rights necessary to conduct the running of the Preakness and
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: Black Eyed Susans in exchange for an annual fee. So
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: and this will be implemented after the Preakness this year.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: So does that mean to you that church Chill Downs
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: if if the Belmont. Well, no, you know they had
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: talked about moving the preatness back a week. So do
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: you think Churchill downs will stop the preatness from moving
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: back a week or do you think Churchill Downs will
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: allow and now move the preatness back a week in
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: which Belmont will move back a week as well.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: I'd say they'll do their due diligence, balancing all of
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: this and trying to figure out what the best is
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: for for the overall health of sports of horse racing.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: I would say they will keep it a week back
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: the plan with that, Yeah, I'd say they'll still still
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: do that.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: One person said Swale would be a good one or
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: Smarty Jones for movies. Who Smarty Jones is a real
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: good one. I think so too. But I'd like yours
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Mind that Bird because you know you got characters in it. Yeah,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: with Calvin Borel and his brother who was the trainer,
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: so you got the boul Rail brothers, which would be
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: nobody expected that horse to win that. That to me
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: is the best pick right there. Uh, they've already made
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: a movie about Mind that Bird. I don't remember that
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: like they have. Huh, it's called Rich strike. I don't know, Rick,
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: No rich strike was the Oh well what you were
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: talking about? Yeah, okay, I got you. Uh what do
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: you think about the Kings letting go of uh uh,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: not only Lynn Bowden, but now let go of Benny Snell?
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Wild business decision. I mean that's two players that were
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: getting fans in the in the stands stands. They waxy
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: Kentucky players, and now you're obviously not gonna get that.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: I mean, I still think they'll be supported either way.
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: But yeah, I was. I thought that was a pretty
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: big bummer.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: I yeah, supposedly, uh, they let Lynn Boden go because
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: he got in a fight. I'll do it. And uh,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: then they let uh Benny go because he supposedly only
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: had what six yards and eight carries or eight yards
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: and six carries this past weekend. And then Benny Snell
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: went to social media saying the guy that put that
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: post up, he said, he wording it like it's my
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: fault clickbait. Well, of course it's not his fault. It's
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: the offensive line that's probably terrible. Maybe it's the coaching
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: that's terrible. I don't know. I was real disappointed. It's
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: one thing to see Lynn Boden gone. Now to see
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Benny Snell, beloved running back from UK gone in only
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: four games into the season. I say, let the season
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: play out and then make those decisions. Well, they also
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: traded their quarterback. Well that needed to be to happen
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: from what I've seen. But trade is one thing to
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: just simply let the player go, let the season play
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: out and then let them go if you're going to
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: do something like that, But to do it in the
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: middle of the season, I mean this place. I mean,
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: not only did they not give me a credential, how
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: they're letting go of my players. Yeah, I have a
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: real problem with it. By the way, the mind that
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: bird movie is fifty to one is what it's called.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Who's in It was released in twenty fourteen. It didn't
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: do very well.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: I don't think it did. Yeah, sticking with Skeet Ulrich,
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: Christian Kane and William Devane.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: Oh really okay, never heard of any I haven't either.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: Speaking of quarterbacks and UK, did you see where the
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: recent quarterback Cormack Jake Nallrot is moving up in the rankings?
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: How much higher could he go? Wasn't it? Rivals released
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: an update to its top three hundred players and he's
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: gone from thirty second to now twenty seventh in the country.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's really nice. And you know, UK's
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: after another five star tight end. Hopefully they'll get him
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: that's in state, So we'll see if that happens or not.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: But man Uk and will Stein, now I'll have three
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: four stars and seven three stars. Just he can't say
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: any nicer things.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: That's more four stars than Indiana had last year in
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: their championship run. So that seems to be a good
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: that is true.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: Have you seen that story about Fernando Mendoza where he
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: has said that he's not going to attend the draft
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: and the reason why did you hear why?
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Because he wants to spend it with his family, give
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: back to all the people that ye poured into him
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: over the years.
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: That's awesome. So it's it's too hard, you know, it's
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: too hard for his mom to travel. She's got muscular distrogery,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: is that right, ms MS, Yeah, muscular sclerosis and multiple
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: SCO and so uh, she's unfortunately in a wheelchair, so
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: she can't go.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: And he's got a lot of heat about that too.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: But there's one there's been lots of people over the
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: years expected to be number one that didn't. Why should
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: he get heat for that? But because he's not exactly
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: I'm this, I'm the same way as you. I mean
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: why And he said it best, like why celebrate with
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: twelve people in the green room when I could celebrate
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: with everybody that's meant so much to my career.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: I'm I'm all about Fernando because you know what, And truthfully,
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: let's be honest, he's being nice about that. It's really
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: about his mom. Well, and when they wants to be
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: there with his mom. When they asked him also about
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: well what would you do? What would you think about
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: going to a place like Vegas where you would potentially
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: start the year on the bench and get to learn
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: from a guy like Kirk Cousins, And he basically came
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: out and was like, well, then I'll sit on the
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: bench and learn behind a guy like Kirk Cousins. I mean,
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: I'll I'll do whatever I gotta do to help the team.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: He's He's gonna be awesome. He is your ultimate team
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: player for sure, is what he is. He says all
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: the right things now and makes the all all the
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: right moves He's got to be a delight to work
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: for sure. I mean, just is uh agent has got
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: to be proud of him because you know he's just
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: counting the money already. But I like what he did.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: You know, I tweeted out last night, moms are greater
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: than NFL drafts. That's it. And they are. Yeah yeah,
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: but uh, all right, when we come back, there is
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: big news happening in Nashville, Tennessee. And I never saw
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: the day coming something like this. All right, let's take
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: our last break. Stay right there. You'll hear what's happening
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: in free Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville, Nashville, see you. It's Jessica
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: good Man is now seven chocolate Kenny.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: It's beginning to come alive now and he's eighth on
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: the outside.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: Then down'n til them out of its advice. As the
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: field turns for home top of the stretch, it's still
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: going to the dance with an tenuous lead. Ringo rats,
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: I'm whie here of the nile stretched up front, just
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: upside of the eighth pole. Musket Man is coming hard
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: down the side of the track.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: He Papa comes right there too, down tell the inside
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: coming on through that ez My, that bird I was
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: coming on.
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: To take delayed as they come down to the finish,
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: kind of spectacular, spectacular upsets wing that bird has from
- 1:27:26Speaker 6: the Kentucky had.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: A possible result here mind that word. I love how
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: he says that what you expecting that you gave me
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: goose pimples Listening to that call right there.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't really appreciate the broadcast or the Turchy
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: has now when you hear that, Yeah, because that that
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: was okay, but it's nothing that Travis Stone. Is that
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: the guy who does the calls?
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: Now? Yes, he's the absolute best, is he really? Yeah?
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: I always like Mike Battaglia, uh, who is from northern Kentucky,
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: did a lot of the Turf Way and then and
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: a lot of work at Churchill Downs. He was always
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: one of my favorites who just announced he's retiring. Been
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: in the business. I think it was like forty or
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: fifty years Mike Battaglia. But I always liked who's the
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: guy that's famous in Lexington did all the Olympics. Shucks,
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: I can't somebody's going to text me right now if
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: I got two four to win, four fourteen to fifty
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: he did a lot of Uh he wouldn't do the calls,
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: but he would host the show. I think Mike Tarico
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: does a nice job of hosting Kentucky Derby. But yeah,
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: there's a famous guy from Lexington, Kentucky that did all
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: kinds of sports announcing. Always did the Olympics. But gray
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: hair curly. Oh shucks, anyway, got me? All right? Nashville, Tennessee,
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: what are you so mad about? Are you ready for
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: the big news? Nashville is going to be hosting the
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: twenty thirty Super Bowl. What yep? That's actually really cool?
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Uh yeah, if you I gotta believe it's because they're
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: building a new stadium. Tom Hammond, thank you, Texter. Do
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: you not know who Tom Hammond is? Don't think so? Okay,
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: all right, but Tom Hammond is that announcer I was
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: referring to great announcer if you turned off, if you
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: looked him up, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: But Nashville, Tennessee, they're saying is going to be hosting
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: the super Bowl in twenty thirty. And this is interesting
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: to me? Is it because that when a city an
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: NFL team builds a new stadium, they automatically get a
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: super Bowl, they host one, because it seems like that
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: is the trend. When New York built MetLife, they hosted
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: a super Bowl in super bowls never in cold temperatures.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: I mean, doesn't that make sense that the NFL would
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: do that? Like, if you're known as the biggest sports
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: league in the world, don't you want to go to
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: the newest and shiniest stadiums for your biggest game of
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: the year.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's always a warm weather game. I mean,
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: that's the benefit of making the super Bowl. You get
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: rewarded by playing in warm weather.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: Nashville's gonna be a dome, so it can be whatever
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: temperature that it was going to be a dome pretty sure.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh, I didn't know that. I'm almost gonna be
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: an outdoor staying, almost positivesting. Okay, well, if it's a dome,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: then that's something different. I'll never get Back.
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: In the early eighties, Cincinnati made their first Super Bowl
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: against the forty nine ers, and it was in Detroit, Michiganikes,
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: how do you like that? Now? That was indoors, but
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: it was a horrible place. I mean Detroit.
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: Speaking of Detroit, did we ever get an update on
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: old buddy arena football player who was trying out.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: I meant to look that up the other day and
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: forgot to have that. I have not found out. I listen.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: It would make the Lions and the coaching staff look
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: so good if they just gave him a try. And
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: what if he made the team. I mean, he could
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: be the next Vincent Popoalia, you gotta go watch Invincible.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: You like NFL, you like football, You will love Mark
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: Wahlberg playing Vince Papaulia Invincible.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: Right, I'm done here at hell, you done here at
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: noon today and I don't have anything else do the
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: rest of that, I don't watch a movie.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: That is the movie? All right? Do me a favorite
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: and I will text you and remind you. Okay, that's imperative. Yeah,
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: I know it is, because you're you forget You don't
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: know what I said thirty seconds ago. I Oh, my
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: brain is a crazy thing. So I'm gonna text you
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: a little later and you're gonna go watch Invincible and
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: you tell me that is not a great movie. Right there?
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: What a forty eight handler said? Mind that bird winning
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: margin was one of the largest ever. He should have
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: never have been fifty to one. He was ignored because
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: he came out of the Sunland Derby. Uh not one
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: of the glamour preps. And see I love that. I
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: hate tell you. I've never even heard of the Sunland Derby.
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: Patrick texted, uh, it will be a dome in Nashville. Okay,
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: you're right, then, I didn't. I didn't know that. But
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: not like a doom dome, but sort of like uh
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: a Sofi stadium in California where it's partially well wait
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: a minute, what does that mean? I thought, so they
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: have it? Does dome it up though? It opens and closes?
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Is that right that?
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: I don't know, but I know a lot of the
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: sides of the stadium are open. It's just designed in
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: a way where rain can't get in it.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: Okay, all right, think I love so Far. I think
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: it's gorgeous. Yeah, I've got to go there one time.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I watched it being built because that's when my
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: oldest son was going out to Pepperdine and it's right
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: next to LAX where you're flying to and you'd see
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: the stadium being built. It's kind of cool. Uh. Moby
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: diabate transferring to LSU with Will Wade. What do you
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: think of that? Good? Good luck?
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: It's almost like he would have been better to stay
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: at UK. Yeah, am I right about that? Aman Yelovich,
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: I'm convinced of Yeah.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't fully understand that all right, before
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: we go, I did one to talk about this. What
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: do you think about Bryson de Shamba? He said, if
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: they want him to re sign with Live, do you
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: know how much he wants for his resigning eight hundred million?
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: You're close, it's five hundred million dollars. He's not gonna get.
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: They don't have any money, Bryson, so so to me,
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: he's just saying, listen, I might as well take the chance.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: These guys are morons. Do you not see the writing
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: on the wall? I would be doing everything in my.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: Power right now to get back on the PGA tour
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: because that's you're gonna be your only home.
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: But I'm telling you, I think he's just doing it
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: knowing that they won't give it to him. But you
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: never know, so why not ask for it? I think
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: he's just doing it for the sake of doing it. It's
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: the worst that could happen. They tell you no, Yeah,
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: how many times you've been told no, uh, Tyrone Stokes,
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: this is what John said. Tyron Stokes put his uh
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: just put up his story up on Instagram and he
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: put Kentucky first. That means nothing. Oh my god, no,
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: I John, Sorry, John. That just means absolutely zero to me.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: That means the absolute opposite of he's picking Kansas. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: not not happening. Oh I really appreciate you putting that
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: thing up there where I see me too, and you
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: on there on the Instagram.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: But yeah, he's he's not coming to Kentucky.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: I'm just gonna tell you. Let me be the first
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: person to say it. I'm so sorry. So I wanted
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: to because you know, when I say it, the opposite happens.
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: So if if I say that he will come to Kentucky,
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: all right, bunchho today, everybody will see tomorrow on Jess
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: the Kats have a great day.
