- 0:05Speaker 1: A lot of things happening this week and next as
- 0:08Speaker 1: we start to see more events, Avalanche is of course
- 0:10Speaker 1: having theirs and we're going to be breaking down Avalanche
- 0:12Speaker 1: nine thousand for you guys today. You don't want to
- 0:15Speaker 1: miss this one. My name is Paul Barren, Welcome back
- 0:17Speaker 1: in the tech path. Joining me today is John Najas,
- 0:19Speaker 1: who is the chief business officer over at Ava Labs.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Great to have John.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Good to be back, Paul, Yeah, so yeah, good.
- 0:26Speaker 3: To see you.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And obviously a lot of things happening within the Avalanche ecosystem.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You guys gearing up for your big event in Argentina,
- 0:34Speaker 1: so kudos to everything there. Hopefully this is going to
- 0:36Speaker 1: be a big one. But I want to just kind
- 0:38Speaker 1: of go right into Avalanche nine thousand, give us a
- 0:42Speaker 1: little bit of an explanation on it. Why nine thousand,
- 0:45Speaker 1: what's kind of the nomenclature there, and then also a
- 0:48Speaker 1: little bit about the project itself.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Avalanche nine thousand is really a culmination of a lot
- 0:54Speaker 2: of different projects that we have coming out at the
- 0:56Speaker 2: same time, primarily on the platform side. It's probably the
- 0:59Speaker 2: largest upgrading the network's history since the launch of main
- 1:03Speaker 2: Net about four years ago. And this is like a
- 1:06Speaker 2: collection of all of our ACPs or Avalanche community potfoles
- 1:09Speaker 2: of the seventy seven one O three. So there's a
- 1:12Speaker 2: lot of things that are that are associated with this,
- 1:15Speaker 2: the launch of public permission lists chains, the ability to
- 1:17Speaker 2: have projects validate their own chains. We're lowering the costs
- 1:22Speaker 2: and the barrier to entry to a lot of new projects,
- 1:24Speaker 2: new developers, new builders to launch their own Avalanche l
- 1:27Speaker 2: ones which previously used to be called subnets. And it's
- 1:32Speaker 2: this kind of culmination that's really been the vision of
- 1:36Speaker 2: Avalanche from day one, from the white paper five six
- 1:39Speaker 2: years ago that talked about a network of interoperable l
- 1:41Speaker 2: one chains. So this is like the final piece. We've
- 1:45Speaker 2: launched the interoperability layer earlier this year. This brings about
- 1:49Speaker 2: the final piece of that puzzle that really puts Avalanche
- 1:53Speaker 2: on the road to the next generation of what this
- 1:55Speaker 2: platform and this network of networks really looks like.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You know, is this something that we could expect soon
- 2:01Speaker 1: or is it more of a long term rollout for
- 2:03Speaker 1: seventy seven Yeah, so, I mean.
- 2:06Speaker 2: The collection of these network updates will be going on.
- 2:09Speaker 2: We already had the interoperability one to go out earlier
- 2:11Speaker 2: this year, and by the end of the year, we
- 2:13Speaker 2: anticipate all of this will be live and builders and
- 2:16Speaker 2: application developers and everybody along those lines will be able
- 2:19Speaker 2: to launch their own chains in a public, permissionless way
- 2:22Speaker 2: at a lower cost, a lower barrier of entry. I
- 2:25Speaker 2: think it's kudos to the team. We took an idea
- 2:29Speaker 2: that was first proposed five six years ago and really
- 2:32Speaker 2: have been updating it, refining it, and perfecting it along
- 2:34Speaker 2: the way. When we first launched subnets, which are now
- 2:36Speaker 2: avalanchel ones about a year and a half two years ago,
- 2:39Speaker 2: there's a high cost to launch our own chain, and
- 2:42Speaker 2: we've taken feedback from partners. We've taken feedback from institutions
- 2:45Speaker 2: and enterprises and gaming companies and everybody in between, and
- 2:49Speaker 2: really put that into these proposals to make it easier
- 2:53Speaker 2: for them to launch chains. Along the way, we've also
- 2:56Speaker 2: optimized how those chains work, how much faster they can be,
- 3:00Speaker 2: how much cheaper they can be, and the benefit to
- 3:02Speaker 2: those builders in launching these chains.
- 3:05Speaker 1: For those watching, you know, if you guys don't know
- 3:07Speaker 1: completely about what's going on with ACP seventy seven, you
- 3:10Speaker 1: can go over to the GitHub and learn a little
- 3:12Speaker 1: bit more about the abstract and what kind of what
- 3:14Speaker 1: John was talking about and the motivation behind this, the
- 3:17Speaker 1: whole thing. This is going to be a big deal.
- 3:19Speaker 1: We've talked about this before with you in terms of
- 3:21Speaker 1: the opportunity and what that represents, so I am in
- 3:24Speaker 1: agreement with you. It's going to be huge for the
- 3:26Speaker 1: avax ecosystem for sure. I want to go over to
- 3:30Speaker 1: a clip. This is taken from twenty forty nine Token
- 3:33Speaker 1: twenty forty nine and it was basically talking about off
- 3:36Speaker 1: the grid. So let's go to that clip real quick.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You are running around an island.
- 3:50Speaker 4: We've in a battle real with one hundred and fifty
- 3:52Speaker 4: OTO players. You loot weapons, limbs, and out of such things,
- 4:00Speaker 4: and occasionally these boxes will also drop what we call
- 4:04Speaker 4: a hex. You then have to carry that X to
- 4:09Speaker 4: an extraction point in the extract the extraction point you
- 4:13Speaker 4: have to decode that hex, which in essence sends it
- 4:18Speaker 4: to all validators up in the space station. You have
- 4:20Speaker 4: a space elevator concept of a space station, and those
- 4:24Speaker 4: validators then decode that hex. That then allows you to
- 4:28Speaker 4: gain those incum items. During the decoding process, which is
- 4:32Speaker 4: between a minute and two minutes long. Depending on the
- 4:34Speaker 4: level and rarity of the hex, you have to actually
- 4:36Speaker 4: defend that extraction point or risk losing your incum items
- 4:41Speaker 4: to another team. In addition to that, a very unique
- 4:44Speaker 4: aspect of our game is that there is no company store.
- 4:47Speaker 4: The only two ways to obtain items is either to
- 4:49Speaker 4: find them within a gaming session and extract them, or
- 4:53Speaker 4: to purchase them from another gamer that extracted the item
- 4:57Speaker 4: and then listed on the PWPER marketplace, Freedom download, free
- 5:00Speaker 4: to play PlayStation, Xbox PC, somebody yet to be announced
- 5:04Speaker 4: platforms having the first mainstream blockchain enable game ever to
- 5:09Speaker 4: launch and console within the next thirty to sixty days,
- 5:13Speaker 4: we will have a massive, massive, massive campaign. I can't
- 5:16Speaker 4: get into the details they out of that that you
- 5:18Speaker 4: guys will see very very shortly.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Also very excited to announce that, Yeah, Delphy's making a
- 5:22Speaker 5: very very large strategic investment in these guys.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It's going to be our logist.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Gaming be ever and yeah, very excited to see what
- 5:29Speaker 5: the next sort of thirty sixty days bring is. As
- 5:31Speaker 5: we approach the Orange Time nine here, this.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Is really the first game truly to see multi console
- 5:41Speaker 1: on the blockchain. With all that happening in a very
- 5:44Speaker 1: short period of time. Obviously, getting seventy seven launch will
- 5:48Speaker 1: be critical to be able to make sure to handle
- 5:51Speaker 1: the number of transactions. Do you guys feel ready for
- 5:54Speaker 1: this kind of exposure.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Absolutely? I mean, I think seventy seven takes on another
- 5:59Speaker 2: astle respect to this. Their chain is live, their chain
- 6:02Speaker 2: is running right now, it's fully optimized. They're running their
- 6:05Speaker 2: chain with their validators and their partners running their validators.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Seventy seven will make it even more performant and can
- 6:12Speaker 2: make it more permissionless if they choose to go down
- 6:15Speaker 2: that route. But I really want to highlight how exciting
- 6:17Speaker 2: of an opportunity this is not just for Avalanche, not
- 6:20Speaker 2: just for Off the Grid, but I think for the
- 6:22Speaker 2: space in general. For too long, you know, the space
- 6:25Speaker 2: is focused on general purpose blockchains whose real product is
- 6:30Speaker 2: their token. What we have been heralding for a long time,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and it's fantastic to see the industry kind of catch
- 6:36Speaker 2: up to us on this is that purpose built blockchains
- 6:39Speaker 2: are needed. Purpose built blockchains provide the solutions necessary to
- 6:43Speaker 2: a team like Gozilla with off the Grid two institutions,
- 6:46Speaker 2: two enterprises to loyalty and rewards, two encrypto native builders
- 6:50Speaker 2: who need their own chain, who need their own environment
- 6:53Speaker 2: that are not at the whims of you know, NFT
- 6:57Speaker 2: drops and other things that might be congesting the chain,
- 7:00Speaker 2: that provide a non linear and non orderly state for
- 7:06Speaker 2: these guys to be able to run their program. Right Like,
- 7:09Speaker 2: if I am these guys and I'm running a game
- 7:11Speaker 2: with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of users, I
- 7:14Speaker 2: don't want to be competing for block space. I don't
- 7:16Speaker 2: want to be competing for anything else. And the space
- 7:19Speaker 2: for so long has continuously brought general purpose blockchains to market.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Who fight for users, who fight for product market fit.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Our thesis is very simple, and I think Off the
- 7:28Speaker 2: Grid is going to be the first and most elegant
- 7:32Speaker 2: illustration of this, both for Avalanche and for the space
- 7:35Speaker 2: in general, that projects of this size and magnitude and
- 7:39Speaker 2: projects that have their own need need their own blockchain.
- 7:42Speaker 2: So we're really excited for what's coming. I mean, the
- 7:45Speaker 2: fact that you have a triple A game on xboxing
- 7:46Speaker 2: PlayStation running their own blockchain tied to the Avalanche network
- 7:50Speaker 2: is I think going to be a pivotal point. But
- 7:53Speaker 2: both for us and for the space.
- 7:54Speaker 1: In general, Sony has already started to move quickly with Sonium.
- 7:58Speaker 1: We started to see a lot of other product out
- 8:00Speaker 1: there starting to build into Web three ecosystem. One of
- 8:03Speaker 1: the ones that has not necessarily taken a big leap
- 8:05Speaker 1: forward has been Microsoft. What are your thoughts? Do you
- 8:09Speaker 1: think we're going to see them on the move soon
- 8:11Speaker 1: in this area.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I don't think they're necessarily going to jump in two feet.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I think if anything, they're going to wait and see
- 8:17Speaker 2: what's working, what's not, and the space, in my opinion,
- 8:21Speaker 2: is probably a little bit too early for someone like
- 8:23Speaker 2: a Microsoft to either take a bet or to take
- 8:26Speaker 2: a chance on something that they're unsure about going forward.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I think they're mostly focused on the AI space right now.
- 8:31Speaker 2: They're competing on the AI space and want to be
- 8:33Speaker 2: more competitive there. On the blockchain side, I think they
- 8:36Speaker 2: have the infrastructure necessary that they've been providing to a
- 8:38Speaker 2: lot of projects in the space already, and they'll wait
- 8:41Speaker 2: to see what they do there.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I think that's the thing you have to watch out,
- 8:43Speaker 1: because they definitely don't want to be in a position
- 8:45Speaker 1: where they miss that in itself. I want to go
- 8:47Speaker 1: to another clip here. This is talking about Pulsar, which
- 8:51Speaker 1: could go into about a one hundred x in terms
- 8:54Speaker 1: of transactions. Take a look.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Congratulations for everybody that was playing the test now more
- 9:01Speaker 3: than one year. If Pulsar is ready for MAInet at
- 9:04Speaker 3: the end of the year, we are going to be
- 9:07Speaker 3: moving to tap into tablets first because the screen is
- 9:11Speaker 3: more similar, and then into mobiles.
- 9:15Speaker 6: Look at this, These are the the NFTs that's is
- 9:18Speaker 6: made of. They're going to be a huge amount of units.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Something that is also really important. We only sell level
- 9:24Speaker 6: one units and buildings.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Only.
- 9:26Speaker 6: You find something that is level twenty five, twenty four
- 9:28Speaker 6: or whatever, one hundred, we didn't do it. It's you
- 9:31Speaker 6: are buying that from some other player, and the price
- 9:34Speaker 6: of that is going to be the price of the
- 9:36Speaker 6: basic unit plus the premium that player. That player is
- 9:40Speaker 6: going to add depending on how that person values their
- 9:43Speaker 6: time mining is going to be Again the only way
- 9:47Speaker 6: to mint new pulls.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Are thirty six days, three hours, fifty two minutes thirty
- 9:53Speaker 3: seconds to buy the latest Genesis units.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I don't think it's too excited about that. Do you
- 9:59Speaker 1: think I think is ready to go?
- 10:03Speaker 2: And if you look at it and I share the excitement,
- 10:06Speaker 2: I share the excitement. I share the excitement with the
- 10:08Speaker 2: off the Grid team as well. Right, I think all
- 10:10Speaker 2: these builders and you're seeing it first and foremost on
- 10:13Speaker 2: gaming on Avalanche, But all these guys have been waiting
- 10:15Speaker 2: for these solutions. They've been waiting for them for so long,
- 10:18Speaker 2: and the industry has not delivered that. I think we're
- 10:20Speaker 2: at a critical moment where this single chain, this monolithic chain,
- 10:24Speaker 2: this general purpose chain thesis is starting to move towards
- 10:27Speaker 2: the modular thesis, many chains, many l ones. We believe
- 10:31Speaker 2: l ones have the safety and the security and the
- 10:34Speaker 2: premium of being L one over and O two and
- 10:37Speaker 2: that's going to be the technological thing that delivers all
- 10:40Speaker 2: these great applications and all these great businesses and all
- 10:42Speaker 2: these great news pieces to market that we have been
- 10:45Speaker 2: kind of held back on, to be honest, for the
- 10:47Speaker 2: lattally agree.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Just looking at your l one subnets right here. Obviously
- 10:53Speaker 1: a lot of growth. This thing just keeps adding in
- 10:56Speaker 1: a new l One's pulsar course is the one we're
- 10:58Speaker 1: highlighting here, mainly their transaction growth. And if you see
- 11:02Speaker 1: transactions right now continuing to climb on pulsar, this of
- 11:07Speaker 1: course will be interesting to see how this starts to
- 11:10Speaker 1: transpire within the Avalanche ecosystem. How confident are you guys
- 11:14Speaker 1: within the framework right now? Are you guys feeling like
- 11:17Speaker 1: you're ready to go?
- 11:18Speaker 2: We've been waiting for this moment for a really long time,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you like prime. Like I said, it's like the technical culmination,
- 11:25Speaker 2: but it's also on the business side, on the marketing side.
- 11:28Speaker 2: It's what we've been talking about for years. We've got
- 11:31Speaker 2: about sixty chains live I think now, thirty seven of
- 11:35Speaker 2: which the projects are live, twenty three like Pulsar, like
- 11:38Speaker 2: Off the Gride, still to go live. We have over
- 11:40Speaker 2: one hundred on tests, and that's limited to the private
- 11:43Speaker 2: permission and the permission public chains that we have and
- 11:46Speaker 2: that we've been able to work with up until now.
- 11:49Speaker 2: This doesn't include the public permission list chains that will
- 11:51Speaker 2: be able to go online post ACP seventy seven and
- 11:56Speaker 2: one oh three in the whole Avalanche nine thousand push.
- 11:58Speaker 2: That's just going to add a whole new level of
- 12:00Speaker 2: innovation of builders, of applications, of public permission lists chains
- 12:04Speaker 2: just on top of this. So we're looking at a
- 12:06Speaker 2: network of potentially hundreds of chains, and this is a
- 12:10Speaker 2: monumental shift in the way we look at blockchains and
- 12:13Speaker 2: blockchain networks. You know, everybody looks at total value locked
- 12:16Speaker 2: and total transactions and daily or monthly users. We need
- 12:19Speaker 2: to look at this in a different way with Avalanche,
- 12:21Speaker 2: it's total network users and total network transactions and total
- 12:24Speaker 2: network value locked. Because we are purposely moving things onto
- 12:28Speaker 2: their own chains, whereas everyone else is trying to coalesce
- 12:30Speaker 2: things on their single chain. To provide a single metric
- 12:33Speaker 2: to the market to say, look, look how you know
- 12:36Speaker 2: much more different than everybody else. We are purposely moving
- 12:38Speaker 2: it off and it needs a different lens to look
- 12:41Speaker 2: at well.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think within that you're going to be able to
- 12:45Speaker 1: see granular data and a lot more information from a
- 12:48Speaker 1: lot of these different categories that are growing, and that's
- 12:51Speaker 1: going to give the market a lot more data to
- 12:53Speaker 1: kind of digest in terms of where the successes are.
- 12:55Speaker 1: So I do agree with you now. Once one thing
- 12:58Speaker 1: to note here, This was a tweet by IGN. I'm
- 13:01Speaker 1: kind kind of curious. I want to get your opinion
- 13:03Speaker 1: on this newsom government new some of California. He's signing
- 13:06Speaker 1: a bill into law. So this is essentially about the
- 13:08Speaker 1: gaming industry that is going to force them, the gaming
- 13:12Speaker 1: industry to simply say Hey, you don't actually own your
- 13:15Speaker 1: digitally purchased games, films, TVs, et cetera. This could put
- 13:19Speaker 1: your just license them. This could start to put a
- 13:22Speaker 1: little bit of pressure on the gaming ecosystem to where
- 13:26Speaker 1: we could see a lot more people going, wait a minute,
- 13:28Speaker 1: but there is a solution for this. It's called web three,
- 13:31Speaker 1: and we can own our own assets in here. Do
- 13:34Speaker 1: you think this is going to have much of an
- 13:35Speaker 1: impact on gaming, especially if we see a lot of
- 13:37Speaker 1: states start to go this direction.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I mean, I would hope so, right, because what the
- 13:43Speaker 2: California government has shown is that companies need to be
- 13:47Speaker 2: more transparent. They need to actually let people know what
- 13:50Speaker 2: it is that they do or don't own. Whether people
- 13:52Speaker 2: pay attention to it or take it seriously, we'll wait
- 13:54Speaker 2: and see what the market says. Right, you can nudge
- 13:57Speaker 2: people into into making their own decisions by providing them
- 14:01Speaker 2: all the facts. Whether they take advantage of that or not,
- 14:03Speaker 2: it's up to them. But I do agree that I
- 14:05Speaker 2: think with using web three on the back end of gaming,
- 14:08Speaker 2: people own their assets. Right. We're going to see this
- 14:10Speaker 2: with off the Grid, We're going to see this with Pulsar.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So hopefully people start to understand this, and I think
- 14:14Speaker 2: it's a breakthrough specifically for gamers, right. I think this
- 14:18Speaker 2: space for the longest times has tried to attract gaming
- 14:22Speaker 2: and has done so by masquerading a token or something
- 14:24Speaker 2: else as a game. What we're seeing now with Pulsar,
- 14:27Speaker 2: or what we're seeing with Off the Grid, what we're
- 14:29Speaker 2: seeing with a lot of these games nexton to Maplesore
- 14:31Speaker 2: Universe that are building on Avalanche is that they are
- 14:34Speaker 2: putting the assets into the hands of the owners and
- 14:37Speaker 2: the players, and they are making the games better and
- 14:40Speaker 2: more accessible to their players by using blockchain on the
- 14:43Speaker 2: back end. Blockchain is not the kind of solution. It's
- 14:47Speaker 2: the shiny object that makes the game special. It just
- 14:50Speaker 2: enables a better game, and that's what gamers really care about,
- 14:52Speaker 2: and that's what we're trying to deliver for sure.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And I think you look at just some of the
- 14:57Speaker 1: advancements that are coming, it seems like everything's coming so fast.
- 15:00Speaker 1: One of the big elements that's starting to break in
- 15:03Speaker 1: here is featured dot Io. They're getting ready to launch
- 15:05Speaker 1: Lollipop Racing on Netflix. As a test, I want to
- 15:08Speaker 1: go to a clip real quick to so the audience
- 15:10Speaker 1: can kind of understand what this means. Take a look.
- 15:24Speaker 7: So for us with you know, Netflix, it was a
- 15:26Speaker 7: real use case and trying to show what you could
- 15:30Speaker 7: do with blockchain enabled content. This smashed our expectations. I
- 15:36Speaker 7: think around now it's about one hundred million eyeballs, it's
- 15:40Speaker 7: about half of Netflix's subscription. Each of our deployments are
- 15:45Speaker 7: really a way to test the technology. So Lollipop is
- 15:49Speaker 7: the two point zero version of that.
- 15:52Speaker 1: So that was Stephen from a feature that we interviewed
- 15:55Speaker 1: quite some time ago in identifying this. So feature Io
- 15:58Speaker 1: using avalanches powered API to come in and do this
- 16:02Speaker 1: whole idea around smart content which is going to be
- 16:05Speaker 1: able to integrate into streaming platforms or a media file.
- 16:10Speaker 1: So this is going to give brands all sorts of
- 16:12Speaker 1: I think businesses in general, a new way to interact
- 16:16Speaker 1: with content consumers and that's going to be a big deal.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Features right on the edge of this and this test
- 16:20Speaker 1: opening on how well this goes could be a huge
- 16:23Speaker 1: breakthrough in content streaming and really kind of shift media
- 16:27Speaker 1: in general. What are your thoughts about this kind of advancement.
- 16:31Speaker 2: So it's great that you had Stephen on He's one
- 16:32Speaker 2: of those founders that you could tell his passion from
- 16:35Speaker 2: just hearing him speak, and we believe that in his
- 16:38Speaker 2: vision and his passion as well. So Feature is doing
- 16:41Speaker 2: great stuff, right. I think they're showing that you can
- 16:43Speaker 2: use blockchain on the back end to enable and empower
- 16:46Speaker 2: smart content and for people that provide content to reward
- 16:49Speaker 2: their users, to attract their users, and to track that. Right. So,
- 16:53Speaker 2: if you're watching a movie trailer on YouTube potentially, or
- 16:57Speaker 2: streaming a movie on one of the major streaming sites,
- 17:00Speaker 2: you'll start to collect these NFTs or these smart content
- 17:02Speaker 2: enabled assets along the way, and it's curated, right. Everyone
- 17:07Speaker 2: has a different experience. You might be watching a movie.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I might get it at the five minute mark, you
- 17:11Speaker 2: might get it at the credits, right, but it makes
- 17:13Speaker 2: sure that you're still watching it throughout the point and
- 17:16Speaker 2: you're getting rewarded for that, and you can start to
- 17:18Speaker 2: collect things across multiple brands, across multiple properties, and IP
- 17:24Speaker 2: they're doing great stuff. They have fantastic partnerships. They come
- 17:27Speaker 2: to this world from the traditional kind of marketing IP
- 17:31Speaker 2: content world.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:32Speaker 2: They're not cryptomated people trying to find to break in.
- 17:35Speaker 2: They have a long established track record in this space
- 17:38Speaker 2: and they're using the technology yet again to enable a
- 17:41Speaker 2: use case that otherwise they would not be able to
- 17:43Speaker 2: do without the technology.
- 17:45Speaker 1: If you think about this test going forward and the success.
- 17:49Speaker 1: If it is success, why to anticipate it will be
- 17:52Speaker 1: We could see a big, big release in twenty twenty
- 17:55Speaker 1: five with a lot of new content coming out on
- 17:58Speaker 1: out or excuse me, on Netflix. Game comes out in December,
- 18:01Speaker 1: so that's getting ready to launch. And if you look
- 18:04Speaker 1: at how the first Squid game did, I mean it
- 18:06Speaker 1: was pretty much a phenomenon. This is the kind of
- 18:09Speaker 1: thing that we could see a breakthrough because if you
- 18:11Speaker 1: have something that is a premium asst like a Squid game,
- 18:14Speaker 1: that could go into launching some of this smart content elements,
- 18:19Speaker 1: this could be a pretty big breakthrough I think for
- 18:21Speaker 1: streaming in general, which means you're going to see all
- 18:23Speaker 1: the other platforms. Apple will have to come to the table.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Amazon's going to be coming to the table. So you
- 18:29Speaker 1: guys are in the right place at the right time.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I want to talk about speed, all right, speed, And
- 18:35Speaker 1: you think about speed, you got to consider the amount
- 18:39Speaker 1: of speed that's coming from some of the other blockchains.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Sui of course, is one that we talk about here
- 18:44Speaker 1: fantastically fast blockchain. Do you feel like you are ready
- 18:49Speaker 1: for the kind of L one activity that's going to
- 18:52Speaker 1: be coming to avax in the next you know, twelve months.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Look credit to the Sui team and a lot of
- 19:00Speaker 2: our competitors and other people in their space. I think
- 19:02Speaker 2: everybody has a different offering and a different reason for
- 19:07Speaker 2: why they believe they're the strongest. But at the end
- 19:10Speaker 2: of the day, it's really apples and oranges. I don't
- 19:12Speaker 2: believe any single blockchain, whether it's I'm not going to
- 19:16Speaker 2: list them, pick your favorite L one blockchain can handle
- 19:19Speaker 2: it off the grid and a pulsar and the features
- 19:22Speaker 2: I O and institutional finance and enterprise and loyalty and
- 19:26Speaker 2: defile and right like the list is endless. Our thesis
- 19:32Speaker 2: and our belief from day one is that you need
- 19:34Speaker 2: many interoperable Layer one blockchains to handle the load, to
- 19:38Speaker 2: be jurisdiction specific, compliance specific, assets specific, whatever it may be. Right,
- 19:43Speaker 2: All these general purpose blockchains are fantastic, They have a
- 19:46Speaker 2: great virtual machine They all have a little tweak from
- 19:48Speaker 2: the other. There's a couple move virtual machine chains. There's
- 19:51Speaker 2: a couple, you know, dozens of EVM chains. At the
- 19:55Speaker 2: end of the day. All of them are general purpose.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And the thesis here is that general purpose is a
- 20:01Speaker 2: great place to maybe launch an application, but if you
- 20:03Speaker 2: need scale, if you need speed, if you need customizability,
- 20:07Speaker 2: if you need predictability in fees and load testing and
- 20:10Speaker 2: whatever it may be, you need your own chain. And
- 20:13Speaker 2: right now I believe we are the ones that are
- 20:15Speaker 2: bringing the best solution to market. That'll be the most
- 20:18Speaker 2: cost effective, that'll be the most performance, and that'll be
- 20:21Speaker 2: the most interoperable.
- 20:22Speaker 1: And I will have to commend you, John, You're not
- 20:25Speaker 1: breaking stride here. You're staying with that message all the
- 20:27Speaker 1: way through. So that's good. But one thing that is
- 20:31Speaker 1: moving in the market has been these predictive markets. Of course,
- 20:35Speaker 1: poly market hits number two on the app on the
- 20:38Speaker 1: app download list, which is insane because that app itself
- 20:41Speaker 1: was not that much other than just the you know,
- 20:44Speaker 1: it really wasn't even an app. It was just showing
- 20:46Speaker 1: the current race. But the point is there's a lot
- 20:48Speaker 1: of interest in prediction markets. Now. We've got a little
- 20:52Speaker 1: of regulatory alignment here in the US is and if
- 20:55Speaker 1: you look at some of the projects that are launching
- 20:57Speaker 1: out there, of course one of the ones that's come
- 21:00Speaker 1: out is Inertia, which is writing on Avalanche and this
- 21:03Speaker 1: is going to be coming live, looks to be next week,
- 21:07Speaker 1: so bet it all on green next week. This could
- 21:11Speaker 1: be pretty huge. Do you feel like it's a little
- 21:13Speaker 1: too late for the predictive markets or you feel like, hey,
- 21:15Speaker 1: the predicted for markets are much wider than just politics,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and we're going to see this continue to grow.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I think it's much wider than politics. But I first
- 21:22Speaker 2: want to command the poly Market team. I think they've
- 21:24Speaker 2: done a fantastic job at providing a really good solution,
- 21:28Speaker 2: a really good product, and making it that blockchain is
- 21:31Speaker 2: not the key component right. Blockchain enables this, and I
- 21:35Speaker 2: think in an age where people are weary of traditional
- 21:38Speaker 2: news or unsure about where news comes from or how
- 21:40Speaker 2: polling is done, Polymarket has taken a market approach to
- 21:44Speaker 2: find data and people's opinions and put it into a
- 21:48Speaker 2: prediction market, which here people trust more than they do
- 21:51Speaker 2: traditional news, media and polling. So kudos to them, Kudos
- 21:55Speaker 2: to Shaman team. I think what they've done is fantastic,
- 21:57Speaker 2: and they've taken it mainstream in a way that a
- 21:59Speaker 2: lot of projects in Web three and crypto have failed
- 22:02Speaker 2: to do so far, so they get all the credit
- 22:04Speaker 2: for doing that. I think they've been very politics focused, rightfully,
- 22:08Speaker 2: So that's the biggest thing. I think come November six,
- 22:11Speaker 2: we're going to see what's the next thing for prediction markets.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I think there's plenty of space for politics, sports, news,
- 22:18Speaker 2: world events. The list goes on and on. It's yet
- 22:23Speaker 2: to be seen if one prediction market will dominate across
- 22:27Speaker 2: all of those verticals, or if different prediction markets will
- 22:30Speaker 2: pop up for different kind of segments and sectors. I
- 22:32Speaker 2: think there are some compliance issues that need to be
- 22:34Speaker 2: taken into account and regulatory issues depending on what the
- 22:38Speaker 2: prediction markets are are actually opening up markets for. But
- 22:41Speaker 2: look poly markets leading here. Everybody's trying to have a
- 22:45Speaker 2: piece of this pie. It's cbd who's gonna win out
- 22:49Speaker 2: or if there's gonna be many winners, But regardless, I
- 22:51Speaker 2: think it's fantastic for the space and fantastic to see
- 22:55Speaker 2: all the growth on that front.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited to see what inertial gets going because
- 22:59Speaker 1: this could be interesting to see a new you know,
- 23:02Speaker 1: just a new slant on predictive markets in general of
- 23:05Speaker 1: how that might look, as there could be a lot
- 23:07Speaker 1: more innovations around how it's being utilized. For sure, I
- 23:10Speaker 1: only hit on one last thing before I let you go,
- 23:13Speaker 1: and that of course Avalanche being I would consider one
- 23:16Speaker 1: of the top gaming chains, if not the number one
- 23:19Speaker 1: potential gaming chain that's out there. Playtron of course partnered
- 23:23Speaker 1: with Suey. They launched their platform, their combined platform with
- 23:27Speaker 1: the Platron and the Suey Play program. You look at
- 23:31Speaker 1: how Nintendo in the handheld market is also getting very
- 23:35Speaker 1: aggressive on how they're marketing, trying to retain these mobile
- 23:39Speaker 1: gaming players out there. This was a tweet by Platron saying, hey,
- 23:43Speaker 1: Nintendo getting increasingly aggressive with the handheld gaming influencers and
- 23:46Speaker 1: they're terrified of what handheld gaming PCs are going to
- 23:49Speaker 1: do and possibly to the Switch franchise, which is pretty
- 23:52Speaker 1: much the leader out there. So is it possible that Avalanche,
- 23:58Speaker 1: being one of the top gaming platforms, could launch a
- 24:02Speaker 1: gaming platform that is mobile in kind? We have a
- 24:06Speaker 1: picture of it right here. It's red. We thought red.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I love the red look. I think everything is possible.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I think our number one goal is to enable the
- 24:19Speaker 2: best builders, the best developers, the best companies to build
- 24:22Speaker 2: the best products possible and we will provide them with
- 24:25Speaker 2: the blockchain that's necessary to meet their demands and their needs.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I'll let the market kind of build the best solutions,
- 24:32Speaker 2: and the best products will be here to support all
- 24:34Speaker 2: of them, uh, technologically, in any way we can. Look,
- 24:38Speaker 2: there's so many great.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Things I think coming.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I think there's so many builders in this space in general.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:45Speaker 2: You just mentioned Inertia on the prediction markets out on
- 24:47Speaker 2: an Avalanche. They're taking a different approach across gaming of course,
- 24:52Speaker 2: you know, very proud of the work the team has
- 24:53Speaker 2: done and all the top names that we have there,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and also all the new developers and rising stars on
- 25:00Speaker 2: that front alongside institutions and Cryptonatus and everybody else.
- 25:05Speaker 1: So very cool.
- 25:06Speaker 2: You know, we're really pushing to support everybody.
- 25:09Speaker 1: So hey, listen, we're watching everything that you guys are
- 25:11Speaker 1: doing in a big way. We know the event, of course,
- 25:14Speaker 1: you're going to probably be announcing all sorts of great things.
- 25:17Speaker 1: We'll be on the edge of our seat watching all that. So, John,
- 25:20Speaker 1: it's been great having you on the show again. Thanks
- 25:22Speaker 1: for coming in.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Thanks Paul, it's a pleasure good to be with you.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You bet all right, So listen, guys, if you're of course,
- 25:28Speaker 1: we'll be covering the AVAX event down in Argentina coming
- 25:31Speaker 1: up this week or next week. And also we've got
- 25:34Speaker 1: the Swell event. Robin Hood's got a big event here
- 25:37Speaker 1: in Miami. There's a lot getting ready to happen, so
- 25:39Speaker 1: you make sure and stay tuned right here for now.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Subscribe to the channel. Make sure and do that right now,

- 25:52Speaker 1: Paul Baron. We'll catch you next time right here on
