- 0:00For the most part, we live within a framework set for us by
- 0:04our parents, community, society, education and the individual
- 0:10choices we make as a result of these things.
- 0:14To some extent, these things determine where we will
- 0:17concentrate our focus, what capacities we will practice and
- 0:21develop, and where we will direct our lives going forward.
- 0:26Once we get onto a specific Rd. in life, we tend to stay on that
- 0:30road, for better or worse. While initially we may have had
- 0:34a wide number of potential choices about direction in life,
- 0:38as evidenced by how young children and adolescents
- 0:41fantasize about what they will be when they grow up, eventually
- 0:47these potentialities are narrowed down until they all
- 0:50collapse into a specific chosen career or life direction.
- 0:56Once chosen, we tend to stay with the direction based on,
- 1:00first and foremost, the law of inertia.
- 1:03In other words, we've made our decision.
- 1:06We've focused our training, education, and line of action on
- 1:09the choice made, and it is then the path of least resistance.
- 1:15If we contemplate going outside the chosen path, we experience
- 1:19feelings of fear and uncertainty and likely feelings of
- 1:24inadequacy due to lack of experience, training, education
- 1:29or aptitude outside the narrow focus we have developed.
- 1:34Occasionally we are motivated to reach out beyond the
- 1:37self-imposed boundaries we have set for our lives.
- 1:41It may be a collapse or failure of a business, unemployment,
- 1:45difficulties in a marriage, some experience of grief or sorrow, a
- 1:50near death experience, influence of a friend or significant
- 1:55other, some change in the environment, a health concern,
- 2:00or an opening through a spiritual experience of some
- 2:03sort. Whatever the cause may be, we
- 2:07have a chance to try new things, take new chances, discover and
- 2:12develop new capabilities. Of all of these powerful
- 2:17causative forces, the opening to a spiritual direction provides
- 2:21perhaps the most impetus, as it speaks to the force of growth
- 2:26and development secretly at work within each individual to make
- 2:31the life they are leading, one that can help them achieve their
- 2:34deepest aspirations and make their lives the most meaningful
- 2:39for themselves and others. It also has the potential to
- 2:43reorient one's entire way of looking at life and thus
- 2:48provides the widest menu of options for future direction we
- 2:54can look at. An illustrative tale told by an
- 2:57elder from the West as he reflected back on his journey
- 3:00and his lifetime. He was attending college when he
- 3:04experienced something of an epiphany that changed his life.
- 3:09He had a near death experience in fact, and when he survived,
- 3:13he suddenly knew that there was a divine intention in the world,
- 3:17something he had not reflected on or internalized prior to that
- 3:22time. He quickly determined that
- 3:25following his career path of college and a job in the society
- 3:29was not going to work and thus he left college to take up the
- 3:34study and practice of yoga. Thereafter, he devoted his
- 3:39entire adult life to the new direction he had identified, far
- 3:43outside any possible realm of development he had considered
- 3:48prior to the experience. Along the way he was tasked with
- 3:53numerous activities which he had to understand and deal with,
- 3:57including business development and management, publishing,
- 4:00importing, regulatory matters, accounting, personnel training
- 4:06and management, sales and marketing, modern technology and
- 4:11its applications to the various project he was working on, legal
- 4:15battles, family life and a broad field of study and reflection,
- 4:21writing and public speaking, all without formal education,
- 4:26training or qualifications. Each new challenge wound up
- 4:31expanding his range of action and the development of abilities
- 4:35he had never reflected on in his earlier dreams about college and
- 4:40career. The central motivating factor
- 4:43was the spiritual opening he had as a result of the near death
- 4:47experience and its redirection of his life and focus.
- 4:52He cited a proverb that says that the the divine can make the
- 4:57dumb to speak and the lame to stride over the hills.
- 5:01So felt this individual as he looked back at his life,
- 5:05integrating spirituality into daily life, the mother notes
- 5:11quote. Everyone has countless
- 5:14possibilities within him of which he is unaware and which
- 5:18develop only if he does what is to be done in the way it should
- 5:22be done. But there are two types of
- 5:24progress, not only one. There is the progress that
- 5:28consists in perfecting more and more the capacities,
- 5:32possibilities, faculties and qualities you have.
- 5:37This is what is normally obtained by education.
- 5:41But if you go in for a little more thorough development by
- 5:44approaching a deeper truth, you can add to the qualities you
- 5:49already have other new ones which seem to be asleep in your
- 5:53being. You can multiply your
- 5:56possibilities, enlarge and increase them.
- 5:59You can suddenly bring up something you did not think you
- 6:02had. I have already explained this to
- 6:05you several times. When one discovers one's psychic
- 6:08being within at the same time, there develop and manifest quite
- 6:13unexpectedly things one could not do at all before and which
- 6:18one didn't think we're in one's nature of this too.
- 6:23I've had numerous examples. I've given you this one, but I
- 6:27am repeating it to you once more to make myself understood.
- 6:31I used to know a young girl who was born in a very ordinary
- 6:35environment, who had not received much education and
- 6:38wrote rather clumsy French, who had not developed her
- 6:42imagination and had absolutely no literary sense.
- 6:47That seemed to be among the possibilities she did not have.
- 6:51Well, when she had the inner experience of contact with her
- 6:55psychic being, and as long as the contact was living and very
- 7:00present, she wrote admirable things.
- 7:04When she fell back from that state into an ordinary one, she
- 7:09could not even put two sentences together correctly.
- 7:12And I saw examples of both kinds of her writing.
- 7:17There is a genius within every one of us.
- 7:20We don't know it. We must find the way to make it
- 7:23come out. But it is there sleeping.
- 7:26It asks for nothing better than to manifest.
- 7:29We must open the door to it. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindu
