- 0:12Hello friends, it's Sean. Here it is Friday, it is the
- 0:1717th of November and you have made it to the end of the week.
- 0:21Good on you. Hope it's been a good week, and
- 0:24I hope the weekend ahead is even better than the week you've just
- 0:28enjoyed. Here we are on a Friday where
- 0:30you and I are going to read a Psalm together, and today we're
- 0:34going to read a Psalm that is a Psalm of trust.
- 0:38Of course there are psalms of lament and psalms of praise and
- 0:41royal psalms and trust psalms. This is a trust Psalm where the
- 0:46Psalmist talks about God's protection in times of crisis.
- 0:51We can all do with a bit of that, can't we?
- 0:54Hearing how God's going to protect us and be on our side
- 0:57even when our back is against the wall?
- 1:00So it's not a long Psalm, only 16 verses, so we will enjoy it
- 1:04together. Shall we read these together?
- 1:06Psalm 91? Those who live in the shelter of
- 1:21the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
- 1:26This I declare about the Lord. He alone is my refuge, my place
- 1:32of safety. He is my God, and I trust Him,
- 1:37for He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from
- 1:41deadly disease. He will cover you with his
- 1:44feathers. He will shelter you with his
- 1:47wings. His faithful promises are your
- 1:50armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors
- 1:55of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.
- 1:59Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the
- 2:03disaster that strikes at midday. Though 1000 fall at your side.
- 2:08Though 10,000 are dying around you, these evils will not touch
- 2:13you. Just open your eyes and see how
- 2:17the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your
- 2:22refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will
- 2:26conquer you. No plague will come near your
- 2:29home, for He will order his angels to protect you wherever
- 2:34you go. They will hold you up with their
- 2:37hands, so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.
- 2:43You will trample upon lions and cobras.
- 2:45You will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet.
- 2:50The Lord says I will rescue those who love me.
- 2:55I will protect those who trust in my name.
- 2:59When they call on me, I will answer.
- 3:02I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
- 3:07I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.
- 3:22Father, thank you for these promises and we claim them right
- 3:26now. Jesus, I pray that you send your
- 3:31guardian angels to be around us today.
- 3:35Keep us safe, strengthen us as we face evil and temptation.
- 3:43Hold those we love in your protection.
- 3:49Thank you that you rescue us, and you surround us with your
- 3:53provision and your might, even though we don't even know that
- 3:58you do it. But here you tell us that you
- 4:01do. And so we thank you and with all
- 4:05the humility that we have so aware of your majesty and our
- 4:09inadequacy beside you. And we thank you for your
- 4:14gracious provision and protection.
- 4:16And we pray all of this in Jesus name.
- 4:21Amen.
