- 0:00Time off. We're back to the basics and healthcare with Balanced Life Chiropractic.
- 0:03We have doctor Harley with us. How you doing, doctor Harley? Hey
- 0:06John, I am doing fantastic, maybe a little less on the sleep things.
- 0:11Daylight savings this time last week was not this time last week. Everybody
- 0:15changed for whatever reason. We just changed our clocks randomly every once in a
- 0:19while. I'm sure there was a reason for it at some point, so
- 0:22it made sense at one point, but I don't know that it does.
- 0:24But it's here. I don't know if it's here to stay. People are
- 0:26saying they want to change it. I don't know how we do that.
- 0:29Where do I vote on that? It should be on the ballot? Maybe
- 0:31I don't know, but it's here. We went through it this weekend and
- 0:34there's probably a couple of people that are a little bit tired. So let's
- 0:36talk about fatigue, right, We're gonna talk about fatigue, chronic fatigue.
- 0:40We see daylight savings definitely makes us think of fatigue more because we lose an
- 0:43hour. We're more tired on Monday. But if that fatigue is lasting more
- 0:48than just like a day or two, when you're noticing this fatigue all the
- 0:52time. There could be some things that are causing that, and one of
- 0:56those things are privy getting more sleep, right right, having good qualities if
- 1:00you're waking up tired is going to be a big one. Now, if
- 1:03you're middle of the afternoon you're feeling really tired, it could be some other
- 1:07things going on with that. So let's talk about sleep first. So are
- 1:11you sleeping well? You know, do you get a full seven eight hours
- 1:14of sleep? You know, most people probably don't anymore. They get off,
- 1:18they toss and turn around. They're not getting a full, you know,
- 1:21night's rest, and they're waking up tired. I've been drinking a lot
- 1:23of water, so I get up in the middle of the night for other
- 1:26things. So that that does happen as you get older. Unfortunately, your
- 1:30bladder doesn't like to hold as long as it used to. It's like,
- 1:33oh hey, it must be almost three. So some of it could be
- 1:36that maybe you're not able to fall asleep very well. And part of it
- 1:40is all our screens, our phones, our TVs, our computers. Most
- 1:44people right before they go to bed, they're watching TV, they're on their
- 1:47phone, you name it. You know. The problem with that is blue
- 1:49light. So that backlighting in all our technology actually stimulates our brain waves.
- 1:55So when we're supposed to be going to sleep and our brain's going into power
- 1:57down sleep mode, that blue light wave is still triggering your brain to keep
- 2:01it running versus going into sleep time. And that must be a little different
- 2:07for everybody because like, I don't think it affects me as much. I
- 2:09fall asleep watching TV, so but it can be falling asleep but then also
- 2:15staying asleep too. You know, if you're a light sleeper, or you're
- 2:19waking up tired all the time because your brain is running through normal ax.
- 2:23So that's why I fall asleep watching TV because I'm so much fatigue. That
- 2:27can be part of it too. So a simple thing that you can do
- 2:29is, like on your phones and your computers, there's a night light mode
- 2:32or a night time mode. It gives your phone like a CPO or kind
- 2:37of an orange color. It actually helps block that blue light nice. So
- 2:39that's a good thing to turn on about an hour before you go to bed,
- 2:44or you know, getting a blue light lens in your glasses, or
- 2:46you can get a non prescription blue light blocker. So like if you're watching
- 2:50TV in bed, you'll wear those before you go to bed. That's a
- 2:53good idea that helps with fatigue, but also eyestrain during the day. If
- 2:57you sit at a computer all the time, Oh yeah, I have some
- 3:00special glasses for that. When I wear them, I do when I'm on
- 3:02the computer. I don't hedi's laughing in the background. I don't wear them
- 3:07when I'm on my phone, though I probably should, right because I have
- 3:09bad eyes even when I'm not on the computer. So that can be that
- 3:13part of it. You know, as your mattress six five to seven years
- 3:16old, by that time, they say it's about time to start looking for
- 3:19a new one, So it could be comfort wise with that as well.
- 3:23So some of the things that you could do, like we said, get
- 3:25more sleep, all of that. And then I suppose your diet makes a
- 3:28difference too, because if you eat a bunch of stuff that's going to keep
- 3:30you away, it can make you not feel so great. That probably also
- 3:34adds to the fatigue. Right, If your metabolisms, you know, you're
- 3:37eating a lot of junk food, your metabolism is going to slow down,
- 3:39versus if you're eating you know, fresh fruits, veggies. You know,
- 3:43eating more balanced diet, you're going to have a little bit higher metabolism,
- 3:46You're going to be naturally more tired, and it's going to be easier to
- 3:49fall asleep because you're burning through your energy in a natural way versus stress burning,
- 3:53which is different. Absolutely, and since we're talking to a chiropractor,
- 3:58we should also talk about it could also be an adjustment issue. If things
- 4:00are not communicating properly, that can make you uncomfortable, and I'll bet that
- 4:03also leads to fatigue, right, you know, we actually chiropract can help
- 4:08with your sleep centers, so it can help your nervous system get out of
- 4:11fight or flight easier. So then you do get that turned down, rest
- 4:15digest part of your nervous system going easier to fall asleep, as well as
- 4:19helping with your aches and pains that maybe while you're not comfortable and can't stay
- 4:23asleep. Absolutely, if somebody listening is going, okay, you know what,
- 4:27I could probably use some help with one or two or all of the
- 4:30things you guys just talked about. If you're checking the boxes and you got
- 4:32them all, I encourage you to get some help. If they would like
- 4:34to get help from you. How do they reach out to you here at
