  here. Last time, we said goodbye to Moses and

  met a new leader, Joshua. God told Joshua to

  be strong and courageous, and that he would be

  with him just as he had been with Moses. Now,

  It's finally time for the Israelites to enter
• 0:29
  the land God had promised. But there's a big
• 0:33
  city standing in the way. Jericho. How would

  they get past its strong, high walls? Let's find
• 0:41
  out how God helped them in a very surprising
• 0:44
  way. Joshua sent two spies to sneak into the
• 1:00
  city of Jericho and see what it was like. The
• 1:03
  spies stayed at the house of a woman named Rahab.
• 1:07
  She had heard of the great things God had done
• 1:10
  and believed he was the true God. Rahab helped
• 1:15
  hide the spies from the king of Jericho. She
• 1:18
  told them that the people of the city were scared
• 1:21
  because they had heard how powerful the God of
• 1:24
  Israel was. She also asked the spies to promise
• 1:30
  that when their army came, they would protect
• 1:32
  her and her family. The spies agreed. They told
• 1:37
  her to tie a red cord in her window so everyone
• 1:41
  would know which house to keep safe. When the
• 1:45
  spies returned, Joshua and the Israelites prepared
• 1:49
  to cross the Jordan River. And just like when
• 1:53
  they left Egypt, God made a miracle happen. As
• 1:57
  soon as the priests stepped into the water carrying
• 2:00
  the Ark of the Covenant, the water stopped flowing,
• 2:04
  and the people crossed on dry ground. Soon, they
• 2:09
  were near Jericho, but the city was strong and
• 2:13
  surrounded by huge walls. God gave Joshua some
• 2:17
  very unusual instructions. He said, The army
• 2:22
  should march around the city once each day for
• 2:25
  six days. Seven priests should walk in front
• 2:29
  of the ark and blow trumpets made from ram's
• 2:32
  horns. On the seventh day, they should march
• 2:36
  around the city seven times, and then the priests
• 2:40
  should give a long blast on the horns. When the
• 2:43
  people heard the sound, they should shout as
• 2:46
  loud as they could. It sounded strange. but joshua
• 2:51
  obeyed so the people marched one time around
• 2:56
  each day for six days on the seventh day they
• 3:01
  marched seven times then the priests blew their
• 3:05
  trumpets and the people shouted with all their
• 3:09
  might suddenly the strong walls of jericho began
• 3:13
  to shake and then they crumbled and fell God
• 3:18
  had knocked down the walls without anyone swinging
• 3:21
  a sword. The Israelites rushed in and took the
• 3:25
  city, just as God had promised. And just like
• 3:29
  the spies had said, Rahab and her family were
• 3:32
  kept safe. Rahab chose to trust in God, even
• 3:41
  when others didn't. She was brave and kind. and
• 3:45
  God used her to protect his people. It's a reminder
• 3:49
  that no matter who we are or where we come from,
• 3:53
  we can choose to follow God and he sees our faith.

  God sometimes asks us to do things that don't
• 4:01
  make sense to us. But when we listen and trust
• 4:05
  him, amazing things can happen. Joshua and the
• 4:10
  Israelites didn't rely on their own strength.

  They relied on God's instructions. Let's think
