- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here. Last time, we said goodbye to Moses and
- 0:13met a new leader, Joshua. God told Joshua to
- 0:18be strong and courageous, and that he would be
- 0:22with him just as he had been with Moses. Now,
- 0:26It's finally time for the Israelites to enter
- 0:29the land God had promised. But there's a big
- 0:33city standing in the way. Jericho. How would
- 0:37they get past its strong, high walls? Let's find
- 0:41out how God helped them in a very surprising
- 0:44way. Joshua sent two spies to sneak into the
- 1:00city of Jericho and see what it was like. The
- 1:03spies stayed at the house of a woman named Rahab.
- 1:07She had heard of the great things God had done
- 1:10and believed he was the true God. Rahab helped
- 1:15hide the spies from the king of Jericho. She
- 1:18told them that the people of the city were scared
- 1:21because they had heard how powerful the God of
- 1:24Israel was. She also asked the spies to promise
- 1:30that when their army came, they would protect
- 1:32her and her family. The spies agreed. They told
- 1:37her to tie a red cord in her window so everyone
- 1:41would know which house to keep safe. When the
- 1:45spies returned, Joshua and the Israelites prepared
- 1:49to cross the Jordan River. And just like when
- 1:53they left Egypt, God made a miracle happen. As
- 1:57soon as the priests stepped into the water carrying
- 2:00the Ark of the Covenant, the water stopped flowing,
- 2:04and the people crossed on dry ground. Soon, they
- 2:09were near Jericho, but the city was strong and
- 2:13surrounded by huge walls. God gave Joshua some
- 2:17very unusual instructions. He said, The army
- 2:22should march around the city once each day for
- 2:25six days. Seven priests should walk in front
- 2:29of the ark and blow trumpets made from ram's
- 2:32horns. On the seventh day, they should march
- 2:36around the city seven times, and then the priests
- 2:40should give a long blast on the horns. When the
- 2:43people heard the sound, they should shout as
- 2:46loud as they could. It sounded strange. but joshua
- 2:51obeyed so the people marched one time around
- 2:56each day for six days on the seventh day they
- 3:01marched seven times then the priests blew their
- 3:05trumpets and the people shouted with all their
- 3:09might suddenly the strong walls of jericho began
- 3:13to shake and then they crumbled and fell God
- 3:18had knocked down the walls without anyone swinging
- 3:21a sword. The Israelites rushed in and took the
- 3:25city, just as God had promised. And just like
- 3:29the spies had said, Rahab and her family were
- 3:32kept safe. Rahab chose to trust in God, even
- 3:41when others didn't. She was brave and kind. and
- 3:45God used her to protect his people. It's a reminder
- 3:49that no matter who we are or where we come from,
- 3:53we can choose to follow God and he sees our faith.
- 3:58God sometimes asks us to do things that don't
- 4:01make sense to us. But when we listen and trust
- 4:05him, amazing things can happen. Joshua and the
- 4:10Israelites didn't rely on their own strength.
- 4:13They relied on God's instructions. Let's think
- 4:17together. Have you ever had to trust God even
- 4:22when it didn't make sense? What can we learn
- 4:27from Joshua and Rahab about faith and obedience?
- 4:32Is there something in your life right now that
- 4:35feels like a wall? How can you trust God with
- 4:38it? The story of Jericho reminds us that nothing
- 4:43is too big or too strong for God. When we listen
- 4:48to him and trust his plan, he can do incredible
- 4:51things through us. Thanks for joining me today.
- 4:56Next time, we'll hear what happens as the Israelites
- 5:00settle into the promised land. Will they keep
- 5:04following God? Or will they face new challenges
- 5:08now that they are home? Until then, remember,
- 5:12you are wonderfully made, and God is with you
- 5:15every step of the way. Bye for now.
