- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous podcast with her radio. Well, Hi,
- 0:06Speaker 1: just welcome to almost Famous. Oh geez, that's everybody that's
- 0:11Speaker 1: us know. How are my friend? How happy birthday? Happy?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Believe you? Thank you very I finally joined your club.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Good club. I've been here for a while and I've
- 0:31Speaker 1: just been kicking it by myself. I'm so thankful to
- 0:33Speaker 1: have somebody else here with me. Thank God. Oh I'm here,
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm here. Um. I do have to say I have
- 0:40Speaker 1: not been feeling well. Um, so if my energy level
- 0:43Speaker 1: is a little low, that's why. But um, I'm excited
- 0:47Speaker 1: to talk to our guest today. I am too. You
- 0:50Speaker 1: know something about this guest and I want to tease
- 0:52Speaker 1: this a little because I don't know if anyone knows
- 0:54Speaker 1: who he is yet. He was my roommate actually on
- 0:57Speaker 1: the first season of The Bachelorette. We were we were
- 1:00Speaker 1: bunkmates in a giant mansion bedroom. Did you actually have
- 1:07Speaker 1: bunk beds or were there just mattresses on the floor.
- 1:10Speaker 1: They were all single beds, so like, I mean, they
- 1:13Speaker 1: probably were bunk beds. I would imagine what a set
- 1:15Speaker 1: of stacking them. I think they knew better, you know
- 1:17Speaker 1: now they stack them. But back then it was all
- 1:19Speaker 1: single beds, and Ryan and I were pretty close to
- 1:22Speaker 1: Oh shit, I just give it away. I just it's okay.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He's coming in literally a minute. So it's yes, one
- 1:31Speaker 1: of my one of my my favorite people from the show,
- 1:34Speaker 1: a very dear friend of mine, and you kind of
- 1:36Speaker 1: know him too, I guess. But today it's really about
- 1:39Speaker 1: he and I. I mean, it's really our connection. Ryan's
- 1:46Speaker 1: in the waiting room. Yeah, yes, um yeah, Ryan center,
- 1:51Speaker 1: come on in. I don't think he needs much introduction,
- 1:55Speaker 1: but he does not. I mean, if you are, if
- 1:57Speaker 1: you're gonna call you and I the o g s.
- 2:00Speaker 1: She is the only other uh, the only other guy
- 2:03Speaker 1: that's that's still in the in the Bachelor Bachelor Nation.
- 2:07Speaker 1: What do you call it? Zeitgeist? That's what the heck
- 2:11Speaker 1: is that word? Zeitgeist nists. This word we podcasters we
- 2:18Speaker 1: use areas. Hi, handsome, How are you, buddy? I'm good.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Can you guys hear me? Yes? Okay? Can't we even
- 2:31Speaker 1: hear you upstairs? I mean it's perfect technology like it?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah right, I know? Yeah. I mean, as I said,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I haven't been feeling well, so we are in separate rooms.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Um we I'm trying to keep this guy healthy as
- 2:58Speaker 1: um as you know, Bob, he's been dealing with some
- 3:01Speaker 1: hell stuff. And one of the things, Babe, that I
- 3:03Speaker 1: wanted to have you come on and talk about today, Um,
- 3:06Speaker 1: because I feel like people always want to know whenever
- 3:10Speaker 1: I post anything is how you're feeling. So can you
- 3:14Speaker 1: tell everybody a little bit about what's going on lately,
- 3:17Speaker 1: how you're feeling. Sure? But before I do, I think
- 3:21Speaker 1: you guys should title this episode Ryan Interest to talk
- 3:25Speaker 1: about their separation. What do you mean was downstairs? Just
- 3:38Speaker 1: it was upstairs? What we didn't sit here like that? Yes,
- 3:43Speaker 1: we're doing that. Yes, And there's just a picture. It's
- 3:47Speaker 1: not any it's not any audio. We're just gonna say
- 3:50Speaker 1: Ryan in trist to talk about their separation on like
- 3:52Speaker 1: a caption. Yeah, totally but perfect. I I guess going
- 4:01Speaker 1: back to your original question, I'm just tired today, but
- 4:06Speaker 1: that's just because I've been working. Um, we're just going
- 4:09Speaker 1: from work, and so I think if you're starting, like
- 4:12Speaker 1: if you want to start like right this moment, I'm
- 4:15Speaker 1: just a little bit tired. But lately I've been feeling
- 4:18Speaker 1: pretty good. Um, you know, I don't I don't know
- 4:21Speaker 1: how far back you want to go, or what kind
- 4:23Speaker 1: of summer you want to be or including this. But
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know, the last few years, like everyone, really have
- 4:29Speaker 1: been sort of difficult, uh, you know, on a lot
- 4:32Speaker 1: of people's personal health and mind included UM and and
- 4:36Speaker 1: just sort of working my way through that and finding
- 4:40Speaker 1: UM finding and continuing to search for UM opportunities to
- 4:44Speaker 1: heal and get better and UM. You know, it's it's
- 4:47Speaker 1: tough also because we're entering this sort of second phase
- 4:50Speaker 1: of our lives. And so as you're getting older, you're
- 4:53Speaker 1: you're wanting to you're wanting to sort of do you
- 4:57Speaker 1: want your second half of your life to live up
- 4:58Speaker 1: to your first half? And it's hard figure out what
- 5:00Speaker 1: that looks like because it can't be the same. It
- 5:04Speaker 1: just that you have to sort of redefine your priorities
- 5:06Speaker 1: and UM, you know, try to temper what maybe your
- 5:10Speaker 1: expectations are. And so that's a secondary struggle to the
- 5:13Speaker 1: health part is UM. I've always sort of measured myself
- 5:17Speaker 1: on sort of physical benchmarks, and some of that has
- 5:22Speaker 1: to UM has to subside, and I have to find
- 5:26Speaker 1: other ways to UM to see how I'm doing because physically,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I just you know, when you're forty eight, you just
- 5:32Speaker 1: can't do what you could when you were thirty eight
- 5:35Speaker 1: or twenty eight, regardless of whether or not you've gone
- 5:38Speaker 1: through health challenges. So so there's just a lot of
- 5:41Speaker 1: things going on UM at the moment that I'm just
- 5:43Speaker 1: trying to sort out, and UM, you know, with your
- 5:46Speaker 1: help and um the support of of family and friends,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I think we're making progress. I'm sorry about that about
- 5:54Speaker 1: turning forty eight. I don't really remember what that was like. Um,
- 5:57Speaker 1: this was so long ago for me. UM, but I
- 6:01Speaker 1: know for a fact that even at thirty eight and
- 6:03Speaker 1: twenty eight, because I've known you for a long time,
- 6:05Speaker 1: I was never in as gonna shape you as you
- 6:07Speaker 1: are at forty eight. So you know, I am. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: am glad to hear that you're feeling better, though, because
- 6:12Speaker 1: I know it's been a challenge for you. And you know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: a lot of us that follow, you know, follow the
- 6:16Speaker 1: both of you on Instagram as I do, and that's
- 6:19Speaker 1: kind of you know, you never for me personally, even
- 6:22Speaker 1: though we've all known each other for so long, I
- 6:24Speaker 1: never wanted to ask the question like, Hey, what's going
- 6:26Speaker 1: on because it felt like it was too personal of
- 6:29Speaker 1: a question and it wasn't you You too kind of
- 6:31Speaker 1: alluded to it, but it was. It wasn't until you
- 6:34Speaker 1: were really willing to talk about it that kind of
- 6:37Speaker 1: you know, we all were able to kind of get
- 6:38Speaker 1: a glimpse into what you've been battling and some of
- 6:41Speaker 1: the alternative things that you've done to to get yourself
- 6:46Speaker 1: back to feeling better, you know, like I want. I mean,
- 6:50Speaker 1: you and I talked about it when we were on
- 6:51Speaker 1: top together, and I was just fascinated with the whole
- 6:53Speaker 1: thing with with respect to the bees, and I mean,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I was just blown away by it because I know,
- 6:59Speaker 1: for a fact, to myself, I am terrified of being
- 7:03Speaker 1: stung by a being. I mean, even though I'm a
- 7:06Speaker 1: grown up now, I mean, I'm I'm a grown up
- 7:10Speaker 1: my you know, my son gets all stressed out of
- 7:11Speaker 1: cries about the idea of a be staying him. I
- 7:14Speaker 1: do too, And um, you know I know that you
- 7:17Speaker 1: you actually had to basically, you know, uh, get over
- 7:22Speaker 1: not only the just the I don't even know what
- 7:24Speaker 1: you call the trepidation of being stung by being that
- 7:27Speaker 1: momentary you know, feeling that you you're doing it quite
- 7:30Speaker 1: a bit. As is an alternative form of therapy. Can
- 7:31Speaker 1: we talk about that a litt bit too. Yeah, So
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think Bob, you and your son's fear of being
- 7:36Speaker 1: stung by a b is a healthy fear. And before
- 7:40Speaker 1: I even start with advocating for this be vendom stuff
- 7:43Speaker 1: that I do. Um, you don't want to just go
- 7:45Speaker 1: out and start stinging yourself with bees. It can be
- 7:48Speaker 1: extremely harmful. Some people are very very allergic m manaphylactically
- 7:53Speaker 1: bad and it can you know, there are certainly reasons
- 7:56Speaker 1: for lots of people to be scared of these. However,
- 7:59Speaker 1: there are also lots of reasons for people to see
- 8:02Speaker 1: to sort of be very grateful for bees. Um. You know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: obviously there's the obvious delicious honey that they make, and
- 8:08Speaker 1: the pollination and all that sort of stuff. But again,
- 8:11Speaker 1: the movies, like one of my very favorite movies was
- 8:13Speaker 1: the b movie. I love that movie. Oh yeah actress actress. Yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 1: there they are wonderful actress bees. But they, um, they're
- 8:25Speaker 1: actually remarkable. Like if you ever get down and go down,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I want to go down that rabbit hole there. Um. Yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 1: they're they're very community driven. They know they're it's just
- 8:37Speaker 1: they're fascinating. They're able to communicate and lots of different
- 8:40Speaker 1: ways and all of the things that they accomplish. Um
- 8:42Speaker 1: as these tiny little creatures are, it's it's pretty amazing
- 8:46Speaker 1: what they do. Most of the the work actually being
- 8:49Speaker 1: done by women, women bees female. So yeah, so that
- 8:55Speaker 1: the human race, I can see. That's good. So anyway, UM,
- 9:00Speaker 1: the the honeybee in particular, not all bees, but the
- 9:02Speaker 1: honeybee has a venom that contains this, uh, this particular
- 9:07Speaker 1: product called militant, which is been proven to be have
- 9:11Speaker 1: anti viral, anti bacterial, antifungal properties. It's a really powerful
- 9:16Speaker 1: potent thing. And um, when you used sort of correctly,
- 9:21Speaker 1: when you when you use it in a therapeutic way,
- 9:24Speaker 1: it can help root out things like lyme disease, which
- 9:27Speaker 1: is what I'm using it for, um and kill it
- 9:30Speaker 1: and so you can get rid of it. Whereas there's
- 9:32Speaker 1: a lot of schools of thought that once you sort
- 9:34Speaker 1: of have this long term chronic find disease, you never
- 9:37Speaker 1: get rid of it. It It just hides out and you know,
- 9:39Speaker 1: far deep places in your body and just sort of
- 9:42Speaker 1: rereaks havoc on you forever. But these this b venom
- 9:45Speaker 1: has um has shown some pretty powerful effects against it
- 9:49Speaker 1: and it's a it's a commitment. Obviously I've been I've
- 9:53Speaker 1: been on this program with UM with a company called
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Heel Hive for almost I guess I started almost
- 9:59Speaker 1: a year ago. Wow, I can't believe it's been that long. Yeah. Yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I didn't start stinging with the bees until last spring.
- 10:07Speaker 1: But there's a which is why you want to go
- 10:10Speaker 1: with something like the He'll Hive because they'll guide you
- 10:12Speaker 1: through a preliminary protocol which UM, which because is going
- 10:17Speaker 1: to make sure you're not going to have some sort
- 10:18Speaker 1: of anaphylactic reaction, to make sure they're taking care of
- 10:21Speaker 1: all these other potential UM infections and and that you're
- 10:25Speaker 1: you're eating the right diets and that sort of stuff,
- 10:27Speaker 1: so you're set up well for success UM. And that
- 10:31Speaker 1: takes several months to get to that point, and then
- 10:34Speaker 1: you do. You know, Trista was there when we did
- 10:36Speaker 1: the first initial sting, which was you just you you know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: we keep bees in our house. We don't have a hive.
- 10:43Speaker 1: UM someday I would like to, but that's an argument
- 10:45Speaker 1: Tristan and I are continuing to I'm continuing to lose.
- 10:49Speaker 1: But so right now I just have I get these
- 10:52Speaker 1: shipped here or in the summertime, I collect them locally,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but we we did one test sting to make sure
- 10:58Speaker 1: I wasn't allergic. Um. We keep a couple of eppens
- 11:02Speaker 1: in the house. I have one in my truck. Yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 1: And um, so every other day now I sting myself
- 11:08Speaker 1: with anywhere from um four to seven or eight bees.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And this is these are live bees that you I
- 11:17Speaker 1: grab with these little tweezers, and they're all The stings
- 11:20Speaker 1: happen along my sort of spinal path on my back,
- 11:24Speaker 1: lower back. And um, yeah, the first few times it's
- 11:27Speaker 1: weird because you're just sort of the anticipation of waiting
- 11:29Speaker 1: for ye be to sting you was weird. But but
- 11:33Speaker 1: now now it's, um, it's just second nature. I just
- 11:38Speaker 1: it's all pretty fast. He actually he will. He will
- 11:41Speaker 1: do it and then come upstairs and be like, hey,
- 11:44Speaker 1: can you scrape the stingers off? Because the method is
- 11:47Speaker 1: he holds him to his back they sting him hopefully, um, quickly,
- 11:50Speaker 1: because honey bees actually don't want to sting you on
- 11:53Speaker 1: like wasps, and so usually have to hold him. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: I used to have to hold him, and um, now
- 11:59Speaker 1: he's doing it on his own. But he'll sting himself
- 12:02Speaker 1: and then come upstairs and you take like a little
- 12:04Speaker 1: credit card or a harder card and scrape out the
- 12:08Speaker 1: the stingers. At this point in time, he leaves them
- 12:11Speaker 1: in the stingers for thirty seconds. And isn't that like
- 12:14Speaker 1: the kind of the maximum amount of time, like they
- 12:18Speaker 1: after thirty seconds From what the He'll hive has described,
- 12:23Speaker 1: the venom starts to lose, like you get the maximum
- 12:27Speaker 1: impact after thirty seconds. So, um, in the beginning he
- 12:31Speaker 1: was stinging for like one to three to five seconds,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and then that would increase with um, you know, the weeks.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But now he'll come upstairs and be like, hey, can
- 12:41Speaker 1: you get the stingers out? Um? Does it all on
- 12:44Speaker 1: his own? That was that was a question I was
- 12:47Speaker 1: I had was you know, I remember being stung as
- 12:50Speaker 1: a kid, and you know, always you go to your mom,
- 12:53Speaker 1: dad or whatever, they grab tweezers and they pull the
- 12:54Speaker 1: stinger out, you know, And so that was going to
- 12:57Speaker 1: be my question, like do you do you when you
- 12:58Speaker 1: do that with the card it does it remove the
- 13:01Speaker 1: thing or completely? Or is there still a little piece
- 13:03Speaker 1: of left in there? No, that's the intent is trying
- 13:06Speaker 1: to scrape it out. Um, and get the stinger ound completely. Yeah,
- 13:12Speaker 1: there's a little barb on the end, so it's kind
- 13:15Speaker 1: of like a fishook. If you try to pull it
- 13:16Speaker 1: straight out, it actually can catch and that's when that's
- 13:19Speaker 1: when you get a little bit left. But did you
- 13:21Speaker 1: scrape it out? It usually comes out a little more cleanly.
- 13:25Speaker 1: They do you want to go grab the little house
- 13:28Speaker 1: and just show, um, Bob, I feel like people are
- 13:31Speaker 1: interested to see the little house. So we keep this
- 13:33Speaker 1: little bee house in um, in our pantry. It used
- 13:37Speaker 1: to be just in our kitchen, and some of the
- 13:39Speaker 1: bees were dying, and we think because it was a
- 13:41Speaker 1: little chillier. UM, So we keep it in our pantry
- 13:45Speaker 1: and try to keep the door closed. UM. And he
- 13:49Speaker 1: usually gets I don't know, like fifty sixty at a time.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And then there are I don't I don't know that
- 13:54Speaker 1: we have any right now. UM, but there's some coming today,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but there I don't have any of them here yet.
- 14:00Speaker 1: How do they arrive? Really like a container, like a
- 14:05Speaker 1: I mean little box. They come in this little box,
- 14:09Speaker 1: this tiny little box. Yeah, this is an older one,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but um, so sixty b s will cram into this
- 14:15Speaker 1: thing and they like to be close together they keep
- 14:18Speaker 1: That's how they are in their hives. They're they're very tight.
- 14:22Speaker 1: And then um, when they get to my house, we
- 14:26Speaker 1: put them in this little oh nice, this little thing,
- 14:30Speaker 1: a little bigger house. Yeah, and then we have a
- 14:32Speaker 1: problem with them flying out of there and when you
- 14:34Speaker 1: when you open it to like grab one and they
- 14:36Speaker 1: all just like storm out of there. So the crazy
- 14:39Speaker 1: thing is, um sometimes like if I'm in I always
- 14:42Speaker 1: do this, and usually in my son's bathroom because it's
- 14:44Speaker 1: the smallest and um Port Mexicans the smallest bathroom. But
- 14:48Speaker 1: we so if they do, they do get out there
- 14:51Speaker 1: easy to recapture. But oftentimes in the summertime, I would um,
- 14:56Speaker 1: i would do the stinging ritual and then I'll take
- 14:59Speaker 1: this the house out to my back porch and just
- 15:02Speaker 1: open the open it wide up right up and let
- 15:04Speaker 1: him fly around because the bees actually need to go
- 15:07Speaker 1: to the restroom. They don't like to go to the
- 15:08Speaker 1: restroom in their house, which none of us would and
- 15:12Speaker 1: so and they like to be able to fly around
- 15:14Speaker 1: from time to time. And the crazy thing is I
- 15:16Speaker 1: thought that I would, um, I would lose all my bees.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I didn't really trust the trust that they would come back.
- 15:23Speaker 1: But they they all come back, They all fly back in.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And isn't that crazy? He literally says, I'm going to
- 15:31Speaker 1: let them take a walk. So the bees are taking
- 15:33Speaker 1: a walk, and they all I mean for the most part,
- 15:36Speaker 1: maybe we these one or two, but um, yeah, they
- 15:39Speaker 1: always come back to the house. Isn't that crazy? That's fascinating.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I mean, yet another awesome quality of bees, right, I mean,
- 15:47Speaker 1: just that's pretty love oar bees. We love our bees.
- 15:51Speaker 1: They have done so much. I mean, talk about kind
- 15:54Speaker 1: of how since you started to be about in therapy,
- 15:58Speaker 1: how you're feeling UM, has it helped Do you feel
- 16:01Speaker 1: that it has helped UM? It has absolutely helped, I
- 16:06Speaker 1: think as a component of of sort of a lifestyle shift.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I mean, there are other things that I think have
- 16:11Speaker 1: helped as well. But I was I was definitely plateaued
- 16:16Speaker 1: with just trying to find UM any other source of relief, so,
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know, and I tried a lot of things like
- 16:24Speaker 1: a dust duss of herbal things and different sorts of
- 16:26Speaker 1: detoxication things. And when we started with the heel Hive
- 16:30Speaker 1: program and the bees, that's the first time I felt
- 16:34Speaker 1: like I was starting to get actual long lasting recovery.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's like I said, it's still a component of a
- 16:43Speaker 1: larger lifestyle change. There's still dietary things that I do
- 16:46Speaker 1: and and exercise is huge, and detoxification and some supplements.
- 16:51Speaker 1: But the supplement list is like four supplements now it's
- 16:54Speaker 1: just as opposed to like a countertop full of of um,
- 17:01Speaker 1: just all sorts of It was overwhelming, and it was
- 17:04Speaker 1: with the stress of just trying to figure out when
- 17:05Speaker 1: you're supposed to take your vitamins. It was almost worse
- 17:07Speaker 1: than the disease. But um, but yeah, so I would
- 17:13Speaker 1: I like to say that I feel like, um, you know,
- 17:16Speaker 1: probably eight percent of the time I feel better, and
- 17:22Speaker 1: then there's a twenty still where I'll have like a yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I just won't feel as good. But um, it's that
- 17:31Speaker 1: even those days are far better than the worst days
- 17:34Speaker 1: used to be. So everything is just sort of upticked.
- 17:37Speaker 1: It's been more been more more positive days, more feeling better,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and then even the down days are are less down.
- 17:43Speaker 1: So and that all happened. Um as I've worked through
- 17:48Speaker 1: this be venom therapy and continues to sort of tick up. Um,
- 17:52Speaker 1: there are times when all maybe there was one time
- 17:55Speaker 1: where I did my steeing, I went, I was doing
- 17:58Speaker 1: eight stings and then one of those bees did come
- 18:01Speaker 1: out and it stung me on the chest, and then
- 18:04Speaker 1: I went for a bike rid it got stung again
- 18:06Speaker 1: by just a random outdoor be and that was too much,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and that that triggered a What it's called is is
- 18:14Speaker 1: a Hirk's reaction, and it's when the venom actually kills
- 18:19Speaker 1: off bacteria in your system, and the toxic bacteria are
- 18:22Speaker 1: left in your system and there's too much of it
- 18:24Speaker 1: for your body to to work through, um efficiently, and
- 18:28Speaker 1: it just makes you feel sick. So there there, it's
- 18:31Speaker 1: there's still some trial and error to the whole thing.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I'm talking actually to Brooke at the Heel High this afternoon, UM,
- 18:38Speaker 1: just to you know, come up with the game plan
- 18:40Speaker 1: moving forward, um as of reaching this one year sort
- 18:44Speaker 1: of um moments but um, but yeah, I think the
- 18:49Speaker 1: long story short, I attribute a lot of the success
- 18:52Speaker 1: that we've been having to the to the bees, which
- 18:56Speaker 1: is awesome because I love I love nature, I love
- 18:59Speaker 1: natural types of solutions. I love being outside and this
- 19:02Speaker 1: just feels like it's um wholesome in that regard. So
- 19:06Speaker 1: I feel like it's it's authentic to what I would
- 19:09Speaker 1: would like to do as a person anyways, So and
- 19:12Speaker 1: that that probably helps to just knowing that you're doing
- 19:15Speaker 1: something that's true to yourself and then honestly being able
- 19:19Speaker 1: to let the bees out and see that they come
- 19:21Speaker 1: back makes me feel better too that they don't. I
- 19:24Speaker 1: don't feel like I'm holding them because they are mean.
- 19:28Speaker 1: The sad thing is that that that when they sting you,
- 19:31Speaker 1: they die any time, within a few hours or a
- 19:33Speaker 1: few days later because the sting um, you know, they
- 19:36Speaker 1: have that one sting and if they use it, they die.
- 19:38Speaker 1: So that every single bee that stings me is sacrificing
- 19:41Speaker 1: her life for me to feel better, And so I
- 19:44Speaker 1: just want that to be a meaningful sacrifice for them. Yeah,
- 19:59Speaker 1: I was. I was you thinking too about your you know,
- 20:02Speaker 1: your profession with being a firefighter and doing the things
- 20:05Speaker 1: that you do. And I know that I mean historically anyway, now,
- 20:08Speaker 1: you know, I've never really talked about this, but I
- 20:09Speaker 1: assume this is probably the case for you that you do,
- 20:12Speaker 1: you know, three or four days on and then you know,
- 20:15Speaker 1: however that works from your from your employment cycle, and
- 20:17Speaker 1: that's got to be first of all, that would be
- 20:19Speaker 1: utterly exhausting anyway, But then on top of that, to
- 20:23Speaker 1: be in the situation where you've been over the last
- 20:25Speaker 1: few years. Man, I could only imagine how much that
- 20:27Speaker 1: just takes audio. So was it something that you know,
- 20:30Speaker 1: kind of because I remember a few years ago you
- 20:32Speaker 1: sort of stepped away for a little while and then
- 20:33Speaker 1: you got right back into it. Was that something that
- 20:35Speaker 1: was sort of driving the bus on that decision too,
- 20:37Speaker 1: or was it was it something else? You know? Is
- 20:39Speaker 1: it just you know, you want to spread your wings
- 20:40Speaker 1: and look at some other things, or you know, was
- 20:42Speaker 1: it was it sort of the fatigue and things that
- 20:44Speaker 1: we're taking as toll a little. But uh, when I left,
- 20:47Speaker 1: when I left the Veil fire Department, yeah, I was
- 20:50Speaker 1: going through um similar but not the same type of
- 20:54Speaker 1: health issues and it all may have been related. It
- 20:56Speaker 1: turns out that may have been the beginning of what
- 20:58Speaker 1: I was dealing within the dealing with now. But um yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 1: so I left and I got I got a little
- 21:05Speaker 1: bit better, But then I was in a profession that
- 21:07Speaker 1: I didn't enjoy, and leaving actually made me realize how
- 21:11Speaker 1: much I did enjoy the fire profession. So um, so
- 21:15Speaker 1: I went back, and I went but I went back
- 21:17Speaker 1: instead of to Veil, I went down to Denver and
- 21:20Speaker 1: so so our schedule is, um, it's good and bad.
- 21:23Speaker 1: We work. We worked a twenty four hour shift and
- 21:25Speaker 1: then we're off for forty eight UM, and then I
- 21:28Speaker 1: would work some trades here and there to try to
- 21:30Speaker 1: extend that because, uh, that one thing that has become
- 21:35Speaker 1: apparent is that getting enough sleep is huge, um in life,
- 21:39Speaker 1: especially when you're trying to recover from anything really a
- 21:42Speaker 1: race or um an illness or whatever. So that it
- 21:46Speaker 1: is a tricky balance. Bob, Like I try to do
- 21:49Speaker 1: the best I can. Interest is pretty tolerant of me
- 21:52Speaker 1: taking naps and that sort of stuff. Um. The fact
- 21:55Speaker 1: that I worked two hours away hasn't helped, you know.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So I created a situation where I love the department
- 22:02Speaker 1: I work with. UM. It's actually, you know, I didn't
- 22:04Speaker 1: not like the department I left. UM. I have a
- 22:07Speaker 1: new found appreciation even for those guys now and the
- 22:11Speaker 1: work that we were doing up here. But I needed
- 22:14Speaker 1: a change of scenery. So I went down there, and UM,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and I love it. It's just it does get a
- 22:20Speaker 1: little exhausting driving back and forth and you know, wanting
- 22:23Speaker 1: to rest and getting up so early in the morning
- 22:26Speaker 1: and and knowing the impact that that lack of sleep
- 22:29Speaker 1: can have, so I try to, Um, I just try
- 22:33Speaker 1: to approach days with a little more perspective and not
- 22:36Speaker 1: just have my foot on the gas but all the time,
- 22:40Speaker 1: and and that sort of that sort of helps see
- 22:44Speaker 1: stars they're just like us. I love that. This is
- 22:46Speaker 1: like anazing you know, people that think that's your fans
- 22:50Speaker 1: and they they see you too. It's just this you know,
- 22:52Speaker 1: golden couple, which we all see that. But you know,
- 22:55Speaker 1: it's nice to know that, um, you know that that
- 22:58Speaker 1: we actually have to have jobs, which we do, and
- 23:02Speaker 1: but also that you know we faced challenges and that
- 23:04Speaker 1: that you guys are particulating me because you guys have
- 23:06Speaker 1: been I think, the benchmark of the franchise for such
- 23:08Speaker 1: a long time, and you know, to know that you
- 23:10Speaker 1: go through these struggles, you go through them together and
- 23:12Speaker 1: you're just like another married couple. You help each other
- 23:14Speaker 1: through them, you figure it out, you know. And uh,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I've always said that about you guys. You know, it's
- 23:18Speaker 1: kind of funny because we were all kind of along
- 23:20Speaker 1: for the ride together for the longest time that Trista
- 23:22Speaker 1: took us both on and you know, it was so
- 23:25Speaker 1: fun to be in a in a way, you know,
- 23:28Speaker 1: I was kind of like your guys mouth piece when
- 23:29Speaker 1: you weren't there, because people would always go, oh, come on, yeah, yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but he was on the show, and I'm like, I'm like,
- 23:35Speaker 1: trust me, yes they do. And hello, you know, I
- 23:39Speaker 1: don't know, just said Ryan. And you know, especially once
- 23:42Speaker 1: you guys add Max and Blakesley too, that it was
- 23:44Speaker 1: like a totally different conversation because it's like, you know,
- 23:46Speaker 1: now they have children, guys, and now you know, now
- 23:48Speaker 1: they're at their twenty year innver. It's like, you know, hey,
- 23:51Speaker 1: how long are you gonna keep on? You know, thinking
- 23:52Speaker 1: it doesn't work? This is proof positive it does. And
- 23:56Speaker 1: then we all you know, but yeah, I'm glad you're
- 23:59Speaker 1: feeling better, buddy. And I think that, um, you know,
- 24:01Speaker 1: when we got to hang out to a little bit
- 24:02Speaker 1: a little bit together a Tahoe, may you appreciate what
- 24:05Speaker 1: you've been going through because I really didn't know as much.
- 24:07Speaker 1: And and you know, you're such a gracious person. You
- 24:10Speaker 1: don't really talk about it too often. You don't talk
- 24:11Speaker 1: about yourself very often at all, So I think, um,
- 24:14Speaker 1: you know, it's kind of nice to actually hear about
- 24:16Speaker 1: it and fascinating to hear about the treatment, you know,
- 24:19Speaker 1: So I'm glad you're feeling better. Yeah, yeah, yeah, thank
- 24:23Speaker 1: thanks for the opportunity. I don't I don't like to
- 24:25Speaker 1: talk much about anything, to be honest, I'm sort of
- 24:27Speaker 1: like my my son in that regard. But but this
- 24:30Speaker 1: is one thing, Um, this is one thing where that
- 24:33Speaker 1: that I feel like it's important to talk about because
- 24:36Speaker 1: one thing I found out is how many people are
- 24:38Speaker 1: going through similar situations, and how lost so many people are,
- 24:42Speaker 1: and desperate so many people are, and and um, just
- 24:45Speaker 1: the fact that there's this crazy like I'm doing this
- 24:49Speaker 1: vat of therapy. It may not be right for everybody,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but I never would have imagined myself using these as
- 24:54Speaker 1: a as a way to heal him and get better.
- 24:59Speaker 1: And so I just want to encourage people to have
- 25:01Speaker 1: an open mind, to to advocate for themselves, and to
- 25:05Speaker 1: continue to have hope in in finding a solution that
- 25:08Speaker 1: fits who they are and what they need, because it's
- 25:11Speaker 1: almost certainly out there. It's just oftentimes you don't get
- 25:15Speaker 1: the best advice right out of the gate, and so
- 25:17Speaker 1: you have to just kind of, you know, keep plugging
- 25:19Speaker 1: away and and that's the reason why I like, I
- 25:24Speaker 1: don't like, but that I'm willing to talk about it
- 25:26Speaker 1: to some degree. UM, because I do want people to
- 25:30Speaker 1: to have some hope and not feel like it's the
- 25:32Speaker 1: end of the end of the world if if they're
- 25:34Speaker 1: coming down with these diagnosis is because I think there
- 25:37Speaker 1: are solutions out there if you're open minded and so
- 25:39Speaker 1: so thanks for having me on and for giving me
- 25:42Speaker 1: the opportunity to see my life for the first time.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And like a week so we have to bring people
- 25:48Speaker 1: together here at the UM, but you're not getting out
- 25:54Speaker 1: so quick. I, UM, I am going to take this
- 25:57Speaker 1: opportunity to because we hopefully we'll have some people listening, hopefully. UM.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I want to take this opportunity to say thank you
- 26:08Speaker 1: to you, babe for um my surprise party. So Bob
- 26:13Speaker 1: he I have been wanting a surprise party since I
- 26:17Speaker 1: can remember, like since I was little, always always wanted one.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And like a week before my birthday, I was riding
- 26:25Speaker 1: in the car with Blake Slate and she's like, are
- 26:28Speaker 1: you so excited for your birthday? And like, I don't know,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I'm like, I really just I would love to have
- 26:33Speaker 1: surprise party. You know, we were just talking about um celebrating.
- 26:38Speaker 1: And I think that's to my knowledge, babe, I think
- 26:42Speaker 1: I heard this correctly. That she came home and she's like, okay,
- 26:45Speaker 1: we need to have a surprise party. So I think
- 26:47Speaker 1: a week before, right, no no, no, no no no
- 26:52Speaker 1: no no okay, so never mind, So take that away. Anyway,
- 26:56Speaker 1: even if it was like um, last minute or not.
- 26:59Speaker 1: He got so many of my friends and my family.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I haven't seen my dad and my step mom in
- 27:09Speaker 1: a year since well over a year since last summer.
- 27:12Speaker 1: We went to St. Louis to visit them, and then
- 27:15Speaker 1: my mom flew intown and Bob, you know her Hayley
- 27:20Speaker 1: pretending or Platt is your married nick um even though
- 27:26Speaker 1: they aren't together anymore. But yes, she was Chris's um,
- 27:30Speaker 1: my brother in law's date to our wedding, and she um,
- 27:37Speaker 1: she flew in for it. And anyway, it was such
- 27:41Speaker 1: an incredible surprise, such an incredible night, like I did
- 27:45Speaker 1: not want it to end. I could not stop smiling.
- 27:48Speaker 1: So I just want to say thank you, babe, for
- 27:50Speaker 1: on this public platform, if you will, for putting that
- 27:53Speaker 1: together and making me feel special. Well, you're welcome. I
- 27:57Speaker 1: had a lot of help but yeah, right, we did it.
- 28:01Speaker 1: We did our best. It's either I'm very hard trying
- 28:07Speaker 1: it that's horrible, and I'm terrible at it, so especially
- 28:10Speaker 1: in today's day and age. So, Bob, I got a
- 28:14Speaker 1: a text message from one of the people who was
- 28:16Speaker 1: supposed to come to the party, like three hours before,
- 28:20Speaker 1: four hours before, and they texted, I haven't talked to
- 28:23Speaker 1: him in forever. I'm not going to name them, um,
- 28:26Speaker 1: but they texted me and they're like, hey, so it's
- 28:29Speaker 1: been so long, dada, UM, have so much fun tonight.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And I was like, we can't come, but have so
- 28:36Speaker 1: much fun tonight. And I said, oh, it's great to
- 28:38Speaker 1: hear from you about what is what's tonight. And then
- 28:44Speaker 1: we're driving, Um, we had to pick up Blakesley from dance.
- 28:48Speaker 1: We're driving from the dance studio to the location and um,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I was looking at my phone and I guess some
- 28:55Speaker 1: text messages had come in so on Ryan's truck like
- 28:58Speaker 1: he has like the system we're you can see your
- 29:00Speaker 1: text messages show up on the screen or whatever. Yeah,
- 29:04Speaker 1: And so Blakesley and one of my friends Jen, who
- 29:08Speaker 1: was planning the party, and Ryan and maybe somebody else
- 29:11Speaker 1: were on this group text, and they had texted and
- 29:15Speaker 1: Ryan like shoot that away off of the screen and
- 29:18Speaker 1: then detected dismiss. It's because blake So Blakesley's role was
- 29:23Speaker 1: to tell that we were on our way when we
- 29:25Speaker 1: picked up from dance, and so I had sent this
- 29:26Speaker 1: group text to say like, hey, Blakesley, here's Jen in
- 29:29Speaker 1: Atlanta's phone number. UM just texted when we leave and
- 29:33Speaker 1: so yeah, stupid vehicles these days are all like so
- 29:36Speaker 1: bluetooth connected. Blakes Blakesley does exactly what she was supposed
- 29:40Speaker 1: to do. She sends a text. She just replied to
- 29:43Speaker 1: my group text, which I was on, and my truck
- 29:45Speaker 1: was like, oh, text coming in from Blakesley. No, no doubt.
- 29:50Speaker 1: He literally was like no, no, no, And I was like,
- 29:55Speaker 1: what is happening? So we so yeah, so yeah that's
- 30:01Speaker 1: just good, Like like anything can ruin it. It's like
- 30:05Speaker 1: this whole and we had probably been planning it for
- 30:07Speaker 1: a month or so, and so for a month you're
- 30:09Speaker 1: just on pins and needles, walking on eggshells. I'm like
- 30:13Speaker 1: catch myself wanting to ask her, like what should we do?
- 30:16Speaker 1: What your parents are here? Kind of questions. Yeah, it's
- 30:21Speaker 1: just so hard, but but it ended up. It wasn't
- 30:25Speaker 1: as big of a surprise as I thought. But it
- 30:27Speaker 1: was a great party and it was a great celebration.
- 30:30Speaker 1: It was so my son's first birthday party. We you know,
- 30:44Speaker 1: it was it was pre COVID and we were all excited.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So we had this huge party. Every one of our
- 30:49Speaker 1: family members came over, close friends with kids and stuff,
- 30:52Speaker 1: and you know, it was awesome. And you know, if
- 30:56Speaker 1: you look back at the pictures, you can kind of
- 30:58Speaker 1: tell something's off with with Grace and my son. But
- 31:01Speaker 1: that day are nanny was supposed to come. Originally she
- 31:05Speaker 1: was gonna come and work, and my wife called her
- 31:07Speaker 1: and she goes, hey, you know what, don't even worry
- 31:09Speaker 1: about it. We're gonna have so much family here. Just
- 31:11Speaker 1: take the day unless you know, we still love you
- 31:13Speaker 1: to come. And she was kind of like, kind of
- 31:16Speaker 1: like a little bit like, you know, no, thanks, I'm good.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I don't feel well anyway. I haven't felt very good
- 31:20Speaker 1: for the last week and I've been coming every day
- 31:22Speaker 1: and we're like, this is the first we've heard of it.
- 31:24Speaker 1: This is literally the day before the party. It's like
- 31:26Speaker 1: Friday and the party, so we're like, oh, why don't
- 31:30Speaker 1: you tell us, you were feeling well, I know it's
- 31:31Speaker 1: a big deal. So next day we have everyone over
- 31:35Speaker 1: parties doing great. As everyone's starting to leave, I am
- 31:37Speaker 1: the type of guy who I cannot go to bed into.
- 31:40Speaker 1: My house is spotless every night. I do the dishes
- 31:42Speaker 1: every night. I clean, I vacuum, I sweet, I do
- 31:45Speaker 1: all these things. Well, then you know everyone's gone and
- 31:48Speaker 1: I'm doing the dishes, and all of a sudden, I'm
- 31:49Speaker 1: just like, you know what, I can't. I can't do
- 31:51Speaker 1: this tonight, And I leave everything in the sink and
- 31:54Speaker 1: I go upstairs and I lay down face first on
- 31:58Speaker 1: my bad much like Ryan probably members from our days
- 32:00Speaker 1: in the mansion together when we were when we were tested.
- 32:04Speaker 1: So I'm like, face first and this, and my wife thinks,
- 32:06Speaker 1: oh my god, he must have had too much to drink,
- 32:08Speaker 1: which I had not had a thing to drink all day,
- 32:10Speaker 1: And so she takes a picture of me and thinks
- 32:12Speaker 1: it's funny and sends it out as a text message
- 32:15Speaker 1: to a group of our friends like look who's overserved
- 32:18Speaker 1: at Grayson's birthday party? You know or whatever? Uh, needless
- 32:21Speaker 1: to saying, I had what I thought later was COVID,
- 32:25Speaker 1: Like I went and got the testing for it to
- 32:27Speaker 1: see if maybe it had been the strain of COVID
- 32:29Speaker 1: getting there kind of early. But it wasn't. It was
- 32:32Speaker 1: just a really bad flu. But how we knew how this,
- 32:34Speaker 1: how this transpired was everyone from our party got it
- 32:38Speaker 1: and they would literally call me and be like, well, hey,
- 32:40Speaker 1: thanks for the gift that keeps on giving. Uh, when
- 32:43Speaker 1: Grace's second birthday is coming around, to us a favor,
- 32:45Speaker 1: don't call us. Everybody got sick. Yeah, it is not fun.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I don't like being sick, and um, it's not easy
- 33:01Speaker 1: when you're um, when your kids have to be everywhere, um,
- 33:06Speaker 1: at different places at different times, and thankfully they're at school,
- 33:10Speaker 1: you know most of the day. Max had a late
- 33:12Speaker 1: start today but we had to wake up at five
- 33:15Speaker 1: to take him to hockey practice that starts at six
- 33:18Speaker 1: fifteen in the morning. Anyway, UM, yeah, it's not easy,
- 33:22Speaker 1: but yeah it was. It was so worth it. I
- 33:26Speaker 1: would do it a million times over, um if I
- 33:29Speaker 1: had to be sick and fed again, because it was
- 33:32Speaker 1: just so much fun to see all these people who
- 33:36Speaker 1: I know and love and be able to hug on
- 33:38Speaker 1: them and um and just feel the love. So hopefully
- 33:43Speaker 1: you feel really special to knowing that Ryan and Blakesley
- 33:47Speaker 1: and your friends put in such a effort to plan people. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 1: people got on a plane, people got in a car,
- 33:52Speaker 1: and people made an effort to be there. It's just
- 33:55Speaker 1: shows you all loved you are. You know, you put
- 33:56Speaker 1: out positivity and you get it back. So I think
- 33:59Speaker 1: it's wonderful. We actually had to change the location three
- 34:05Speaker 1: hours before the party because too many people came, and
- 34:08Speaker 1: so we had one restaurant booked and we showed up
- 34:11Speaker 1: with that gonna weak. That's fire code violation. We can't
- 34:13Speaker 1: have these people. I'm so sorry, Like what I were, like,
- 34:16Speaker 1: what did you get out your badge? And like, trust me,
- 34:21Speaker 1: we're gonna be fine. And you could tell, like I
- 34:28Speaker 1: have a video that my mom took, so my parents
- 34:30Speaker 1: were kind of hidden in this back room if you will,
- 34:33Speaker 1: or back section of the restaurant um and she took
- 34:37Speaker 1: a video of kind of people waiting for me to
- 34:40Speaker 1: get there. And there's this this woman having dinner with
- 34:44Speaker 1: probably her husband or whatever right next and you could
- 34:46Speaker 1: tell like she was just like why are these people here?
- 34:51Speaker 1: She was so frustrated because it was there were a
- 34:55Speaker 1: lot of people and it was they were, we were
- 34:58Speaker 1: all well, they were all pretty out before I got there.
- 35:01Speaker 1: And then of course, um, you know, surprise and everything. Yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 1: the people who came there for dinner that night were
- 35:06Speaker 1: not super happy that there was a surprise party that
- 35:09Speaker 1: they Yeah, they were just unhappy they weren't invited. That's
- 35:13Speaker 1: the only problem, all right. Anyway, it was great. I
- 35:18Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you. Think so, guys, I
- 35:22Speaker 1: want to talk about something. I don't know if you
- 35:24Speaker 1: two know this story, but I think that, you know,
- 35:26Speaker 1: I think that I might kind of be responsible for
- 35:29Speaker 1: this union Trusted and Ryan and I. I don't know
- 35:32Speaker 1: that I've ever shared the story. I know I've told
- 35:34Speaker 1: you Trusted, but I don't think Ryan's ever heard this
- 35:36Speaker 1: story before. But m Ryan, so I'll never forget you
- 35:40Speaker 1: and I meet the first night at the mansion, and
- 35:43Speaker 1: I am uh we just you know, we were in
- 35:46Speaker 1: the same areas a lot, and we were always laughing
- 35:48Speaker 1: with each other and stuff, and and I used to
- 35:50Speaker 1: love telling the story of how you know. People would
- 35:52Speaker 1: be like, oh my god, Bob played college football, and
- 35:54Speaker 1: I'm like I was, I was a backup A and
- 35:57Speaker 1: me talked to Ryan he played professional football, and it
- 36:02Speaker 1: would try to be crazy because Ryan would never you know,
- 36:05Speaker 1: I love that you wouldn't talk about it because it's
- 36:07Speaker 1: just who you are. You just you're so humble and
- 36:08Speaker 1: I love it. But I'd always be like, and I
- 36:10Speaker 1: would say that's people. They'd be like, oh yeah, he's
- 36:12Speaker 1: a fireman and a poet. And I'm like, you guys
- 36:14Speaker 1: have no idea who this guy is. I'm like, do
- 36:16Speaker 1: you realize you know, everyone sit here and talks about
- 36:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know, it's a this in high school college.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I'm like, the dude played for the Ravens. Okay. So
- 36:25Speaker 1: I would always get myself so fired up about that.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I'm like, he doesn't talk about it. This is the guy,
- 36:29Speaker 1: trust me, this is your guy. You know. I'm like,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I'm out there leading the Century Club and he's writing poetry.
- 36:35Speaker 1: The guy is amazing. But I used to always always
- 36:39Speaker 1: talk about that stuff. But one of the things, I
- 36:40Speaker 1: don't know if I've ever told you this story. So
- 36:42Speaker 1: we were at a group date and I don't know,
- 36:43Speaker 1: I don't think Ryan was on this date with us,
- 36:46Speaker 1: but there were five of us. Remember when we went
- 36:48Speaker 1: on the You and I have talked about the great
- 36:50Speaker 1: dates they planned for you that year, the wonderful, the
- 36:54Speaker 1: wonderful gold card date, which really made sense with what
- 36:56Speaker 1: was going on in your family. And then of course
- 36:58Speaker 1: the beach date would the shellfish good come right? So
- 37:03Speaker 1: so we're on a beach date and I'm you know,
- 37:05Speaker 1: we we go there and there, yeah, you were there,
- 37:09Speaker 1: and and I'll never forget I'm standing there, you know
- 37:11Speaker 1: and just sort of like, oh, I don't know, we
- 37:13Speaker 1: really wants next, you know, I'm just kind of hanging
- 37:14Speaker 1: out and Trista and I had already kind of struck
- 37:17Speaker 1: up this this really great friend vibe, and I could
- 37:20Speaker 1: tell that, you know, it was like we really like
- 37:22Speaker 1: each other, and it was like, but but we were
- 37:24Speaker 1: we were necessarily clicking romantically, right, and so but that
- 37:28Speaker 1: was okay because neither one of us care. I was like,
- 37:30Speaker 1: we're just having a great time. When we'd be in
- 37:31Speaker 1: the same room together and I was just like, I
- 37:33Speaker 1: love this check She's awesome. So we're not on the
- 37:36Speaker 1: beach and I'll never I think it was Carbone. I'm
- 37:38Speaker 1: not entirely sure, but I want to say that it was.
- 37:40Speaker 1: He's like, hey, getting come here, I want to talk
- 37:42Speaker 1: to you. I'm like, yeah, hey, what's up in He's like,
- 37:44Speaker 1: what are you doing? And I go, oh, I'm just
- 37:46Speaker 1: going to grab a beer there out of the cool
- 37:48Speaker 1: and he's like, listen, uh, man, you really gotta get
- 37:53Speaker 1: on this Tristo. Trista really wants to kiss you. And
- 37:57Speaker 1: I go what. He goes, oh yeah, she uh she said,
- 38:01Speaker 1: She's like, I really want to kiss this guy. Uh
- 38:03Speaker 1: And I go, I go hold on, I said, hold
- 38:05Speaker 1: on this thing. I go, you're so you're telling me
- 38:08Speaker 1: the Trisa came up to you, the producers, and was like,
- 38:10Speaker 1: oh man, I'll tell you what if this day could
- 38:12Speaker 1: be any more special for me, I'd make out with
- 38:14Speaker 1: that guy in front of four other dudes. That's what
- 38:16Speaker 1: I want to do. And he's like yeah yeah. So
- 38:18Speaker 1: she said, I go, that's what she said you because yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I go. I go, here's what's not gonna happen. I'm
- 38:23Speaker 1: not gonna try to kiss her on a beach in
- 38:25Speaker 1: front of four other dudes. It's not happening. So good try,
- 38:29Speaker 1: thank you, but it's not happened today. So I walk
- 38:32Speaker 1: away and as I'm walking away, I started to think
- 38:34Speaker 1: about it, and I'm like, I hope the Trista doesn't
- 38:37Speaker 1: think I don't want to kiss her because I mean,
- 38:39Speaker 1: you know, I mean she's lovely. Of course, I like
- 38:41Speaker 1: I've you know, I I liked it, you know, but
- 38:44Speaker 1: the whole time. So I'm like, you know, I don't know,
- 38:46Speaker 1: I'm not gonna necessarily try to kiss her, but I
- 38:48Speaker 1: could I should have at least take the opportunity to
- 38:50Speaker 1: go and talk to her. So I come back and
- 38:52Speaker 1: I've got a couple of beers. I'm coming back for
- 38:53Speaker 1: Jamie blythe I'm gonna give Jamie a beer. And you know,
- 38:57Speaker 1: Jamie's the most lovable mannequin. I'm a planet, right. The
- 39:00Speaker 1: guys just you wind him up and the circus. So
- 39:05Speaker 1: I drop walking back for a couple of beers and
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'm like, uh. Car goes like hell, ho where going?
- 39:10Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go get a beer to Jamie and
- 39:11Speaker 1: he's like no, no, no, he's uh, he's he's in
- 39:13Speaker 1: the middle of something right now. Oh. I kind of
- 39:16Speaker 1: glanced around everybody and like I see Jamie on the
- 39:19Speaker 1: beach going in to try and kiss Triss and she's
- 39:21Speaker 1: like whoa, no, thank you, no thanks, And I'm like yes.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So I was so glad that I didn't take the
- 39:29Speaker 1: bigger of course, you know, my dumb buddy does. So
- 39:33Speaker 1: we get the limo way after this whole shellfish thing,
- 39:35Speaker 1: and you know where it's just funny and and we're
- 39:38Speaker 1: in the limo and I and I go, hey, Tristy,
- 39:40Speaker 1: you know, um, I just want to say, you know,
- 39:42Speaker 1: if my sister were on the show, because I was,
- 39:44Speaker 1: I was feeling like she I don't know, I felt
- 39:46Speaker 1: like I was supposed to protect you on these day.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I don't know why that was in my head, but
- 39:49Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, my sister on this show and
- 39:52Speaker 1: and you know, five dudes and on a beach, I'm like,
- 39:56Speaker 1: someone of them trying to make out with her. I
- 39:57Speaker 1: would I'm just gonna say it right now. I hope
- 39:59Speaker 1: you don't think that means we're not interested in getting
- 40:02Speaker 1: to know you better, because we are. We're just being respectful.
- 40:04Speaker 1: And I and Jamie's sitting like down at the end
- 40:06Speaker 1: of the limo and I'm down here at the other end,
- 40:08Speaker 1: and Jamie's going and I'm like, but if someone did
- 40:13Speaker 1: try to kiss you, that wouldn't mean that they're a pig.
- 40:15Speaker 1: It would just mean that they're you know, they're doing
- 40:18Speaker 1: something different than me. I guess I don't know. I
- 40:20Speaker 1: don't know what a j's like can throw me under
- 40:24Speaker 1: the bus man, I'm like, you're the dummy that listened
- 40:27Speaker 1: to Carbone. I tell you to do that. It's a
- 40:32Speaker 1: long but I feel like, you know. I guess I
- 40:35Speaker 1: should just say you guys are welcome. You know, yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 1: thank you, thanks, thank you. I've always given you a
- 40:41Speaker 1: ton of credit actually, especially in the early sort of
- 40:44Speaker 1: the early group dates, where all of the pressure was
- 40:48Speaker 1: off of me too to be sort of something I
- 40:51Speaker 1: wasn't because I'm not super extroverted. But if you were there,
- 40:54Speaker 1: then it was always a good time because you that
- 40:57Speaker 1: was you, and you took that um you did. You
- 41:00Speaker 1: handled that very well, and you made it fun for
- 41:02Speaker 1: everybody involved. Not it wasn't. You was just focused on Trista.
- 41:06Speaker 1: That everybody sort of got to be a part of
- 41:08Speaker 1: a really good time when there was a group date
- 41:10Speaker 1: with you, Bob. And so I've I think I've told
- 41:13Speaker 1: Trista this many times. They that you you sort of
- 41:17Speaker 1: got me through those initial stages until it could be
- 41:20Speaker 1: more one on one and I could get to know
- 41:22Speaker 1: Trista just as a person and she could get me
- 41:25Speaker 1: as a person. But but yeah, I I didn't know
- 41:28Speaker 1: that the extent of the yeah. But yeah, I've always
- 41:37Speaker 1: thought and I think we were super fortunate. And when
- 41:40Speaker 1: people ask me about the show, I always tell them, like, listen,
- 41:43Speaker 1: I liked every single guy that was on that, So there,
- 41:46Speaker 1: you know, we're not. I don't keep in touch with
- 41:48Speaker 1: them now, but I don't keep in touch with a
- 41:49Speaker 1: lot of people in my life now. For that period
- 41:52Speaker 1: in my life, I felt fortunate to have known all
- 41:54Speaker 1: of you guys, And um, it wasn't the kind of
- 41:57Speaker 1: show that was super dramatic, and there was not in
- 42:00Speaker 1: hiding between us. Like I told people initially, half the
- 42:03Speaker 1: time guys would were like, oh crap, I got a
- 42:05Speaker 1: date with Tris to like keep my beer like cold,
- 42:08Speaker 1: I'll be bad. Like there wasn't like amos like more
- 42:12Speaker 1: fun to be at the house sometimes than it was
- 42:14Speaker 1: to be outside of the house. So much fun. We
- 42:18Speaker 1: had a good time. We were we were fortunate to
- 42:20Speaker 1: have that experience, and I feel like I it was
- 42:23Speaker 1: especially especially fortunate to have it in the way that
- 42:26Speaker 1: it did for me. But but the path along the
- 42:29Speaker 1: way was certainly enjoyable, and that was in large part
- 42:32Speaker 1: because of you. So thank you for that, buddy. I
- 42:34Speaker 1: means a lot to me. I I always say that
- 42:36Speaker 1: I was always like I felt like Ryan and I
- 42:38Speaker 1: were like the perfect man together. Like he was, you know,
- 42:43Speaker 1: just a stud, super sweet and kind, and I'm nice enough,
- 42:48Speaker 1: but you know, he's like he's sensitive and he's caring,
- 42:52Speaker 1: but he's also really funny and when you get to
- 42:53Speaker 1: know him, it's such a great time, you know, you know,
- 42:55Speaker 1: like and then I'm the one that just sort of
- 42:56Speaker 1: breaks the ice everywhere I go, and then you know,
- 42:59Speaker 1: you know, But it was one of those things where
- 43:01Speaker 1: I felt like, um, I agree with you. I mean,
- 43:03Speaker 1: I've often said it that I think interesting. I think,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know, it does start at the top, and I
- 43:07Speaker 1: think that from that perspective, it really didn't start with you.
- 43:10Speaker 1: We weren't There wasn't a bunch of drama with us.
- 43:13Speaker 1: We were genuinely friends. Like I remember when I came
- 43:16Speaker 1: off the show, and I remember I didn't know who won,
- 43:19Speaker 1: and um, who was the choice? I should say, it's
- 43:22Speaker 1: not gently a winner. I suppose you know, I know
- 43:24Speaker 1: how that works. But I I said the wrong word there.
- 43:26Speaker 1: But I mean, I I was sitting I'm never forgetting
- 43:29Speaker 1: saying if she doesn't choose Brian, I will lose my
- 43:32Speaker 1: mind and everyone'll be like, A mean, I'm like, I
- 43:34Speaker 1: go I was choosing Ryan. I was like, Okay, how
- 43:37Speaker 1: do I keep Brian in my life? What do I
- 43:38Speaker 1: gotta do here? I gotta do I have any roses? Like,
- 43:40Speaker 1: how the hell do I do this? You know, because
- 43:42Speaker 1: it was like we'd be in our little bonk beds,
- 43:45Speaker 1: which were you know, like the single twin beds in
- 43:47Speaker 1: this big room, and it was like, you know, we
- 43:50Speaker 1: just all bonded and it was never i mean agreed,
- 43:52Speaker 1: like it was never one of those things where I'd
- 43:55Speaker 1: run into someone years later and be like, oh, there's
- 43:57Speaker 1: that guy. It was I was like, hey, you know,
- 43:59Speaker 1: I'm so we didn't have any of that stuff. You know,
- 44:03Speaker 1: it was so good. But I do think that starts
- 44:04Speaker 1: with you, Trista, because you sort you had to set
- 44:07Speaker 1: the pace for that and because of your experience, you know,
- 44:11Speaker 1: you made it so that it was drama free for us,
- 44:14Speaker 1: because you knew how that went right. I mean, it
- 44:16Speaker 1: was a little bit of Yeah, I don't know if
- 44:20Speaker 1: I had much to deal with it. I think you
- 44:22Speaker 1: guys were just awesome. It was just such a good
- 44:24Speaker 1: group of guys. And and at that point in time,
- 44:27Speaker 1: because it was so I knew, uh you know so
- 44:32Speaker 1: o g um, people weren't as into and maybe the
- 44:37Speaker 1: producers weren't as into kind of inciting the drama and like,
- 44:41Speaker 1: you know, getting people to to uh focus on in
- 44:47Speaker 1: fighting when it was just so I kind of wish
- 44:51Speaker 1: for that again. I wish there was just this great
- 44:54Speaker 1: group of guys or girls that just have such a
- 44:57Speaker 1: great time together. And and although I do kind of
- 45:01Speaker 1: like the drama watching, but at the same time, I
- 45:05Speaker 1: I loved my guys. I love you. Yeah, yeah, you
- 45:09Speaker 1: didn't have some great ones. I mean there was, I mean,
- 45:12Speaker 1: you know, to a number. I mean I keep in
- 45:14Speaker 1: touch with I still keep actually Jennie Blythe and Jack French,
- 45:18Speaker 1: you know, and of course the two of you, which
- 45:21Speaker 1: is nice and um, you know, and that's why I
- 45:23Speaker 1: feel like, you know, when I look at the season,
- 45:25Speaker 1: I mean I always kind of come back to that.
- 45:27Speaker 1: And then I told the story recently on the air, Rhine.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I'm not sure if you got to hear about it,
- 45:32Speaker 1: but I ran into the guy, the first guy I
- 45:34Speaker 1: met in the mansion after Green trist I walk inside
- 45:37Speaker 1: and there's a guy standing there and he was just
- 45:39Speaker 1: this great looking guy and he's just standing there and
- 45:41Speaker 1: he was just very like perfect posture and he's like,
- 45:44Speaker 1: you know, how are you. I'm like good, you know,
- 45:45Speaker 1: and talking to him and he's like, you know, I
- 45:48Speaker 1: won't go back to the rabbit hole the whole story,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but I remember going, you know, so what do you do?
- 45:52Speaker 1: And he's like, I studied the martial arts. And I'm like, ah,
- 45:54Speaker 1: I too, studied the martial arts. And he's like you do.
- 45:56Speaker 1: I said yes. He's like what discipline? And I said tibo.
- 46:00Speaker 1: And Jamie Blyth of course is with me, and he's like,
- 46:03Speaker 1: are you going to feel like the funniest guy a
- 46:05Speaker 1: live I'm like yeah, zer and guys like that's not
- 46:08Speaker 1: a martial art brother, and I'm like, oh, tell Billy
- 46:10Speaker 1: blank Stath, you know, because that guy is making a fortune.
- 46:13Speaker 1: And I ran into him at the Kentucky Turkey like
- 46:16Speaker 1: two years ago, and I'm like, oh, I know this guy.
- 46:19Speaker 1: And he's like I was with you in trist this season.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, and he that story, so
- 46:25Speaker 1: you know, I mean, even to this day, you know,
- 46:27Speaker 1: we can feel good running into each other because it's
- 46:28Speaker 1: always going to be pretty pleasant. Well, thank you so
- 46:33Speaker 1: much for coming um and walking down memory Lane with
- 46:38Speaker 1: me and Bob and chatting about how you're feeling. Um,
- 46:43Speaker 1: We've been talking about having you on for a really
- 46:45Speaker 1: long time, so thanks you. You've got to have the
- 46:47Speaker 1: original O G S on. You know what I mean,
- 46:49Speaker 1: this is this is the real deal. This makes me
- 46:51Speaker 1: so happy. And Ryan, I mean you, I love and
- 46:54Speaker 1: respect you man, and I just I'm so happy that
- 46:56Speaker 1: you would come on and share, you know, share a
- 46:59Speaker 1: lot of what you've been going on through too. I
- 47:00Speaker 1: think I think it is gonna help a lot of
- 47:01Speaker 1: people because whether it's you know, whether it is line disease,
- 47:05Speaker 1: or whether it's something else that they're dealing with. Like
- 47:07Speaker 1: you said, you have an open mind and be willing
- 47:08Speaker 1: to try some different things and not just go down
- 47:11Speaker 1: the conventional path of over medicating yourself. Not that so
- 47:13Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure some people can do that too.
- 47:15Speaker 1: But I think that's a pretty uh wise wise bit
- 47:18Speaker 1: of information to dispense today. So thanks for doing that
- 47:21Speaker 1: for us. Yeah, No, this was fun. It was fun.
- 47:23Speaker 1: It's kind of fun to think back on those those
- 47:26Speaker 1: days so long ago with the especially Jamie. I just
- 47:30Speaker 1: remember like dog food, stuff, anxiety attacks and all sorts
- 47:36Speaker 1: of stuff, and it's just kind of fun to read it.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the same with you, but
- 47:40Speaker 1: it feels like a totally different time or I feel
- 47:42Speaker 1: like a lifetime ago, so to think about it, it's
- 47:45Speaker 1: kind of fun. So thanks for having me on and
- 47:46Speaker 1: allowing me to to partake in some of that and
- 47:49Speaker 1: to share my story. And uh, you know where to
- 47:52Speaker 1: find me if you if you ever want to talk again.
- 47:57Speaker 1: By the way, I'm downstairs. Okay, your trial separation there
- 48:02Speaker 1: in the in the downstairs level. I love that good.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I know you hit gold on the show. You know
- 48:14Speaker 1: that you genuinely sure did. I am a lucky girl
- 48:18Speaker 1: that you really are. I said, also, you know that
- 48:24Speaker 1: if Ryan wasn't there, I don't know that anyone else
- 48:28Speaker 1: would have worked, just because I just feel like he
- 48:32Speaker 1: was meant to be my person. So I did too.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I honestly thought that I thought that while I was
- 48:39Speaker 1: still on the show, which is kind of crazy. I
- 48:42Speaker 1: remember being somewhere and thinking to myself, like, I don't
- 48:46Speaker 1: feel like I'm ready for this, you know, and we weren't.
- 48:49Speaker 1: We weren't like we didn't even never have an individual take,
- 48:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We were always on great
- 48:54Speaker 1: case together. But I remember thinking to myself, like, if
- 48:56Speaker 1: I'm being honest, because I you know, I cared about
- 48:58Speaker 1: you and I like you so much so quickly, and
- 49:00Speaker 1: I was like, if I'm being honest about this, who's
- 49:02Speaker 1: the right person for her here? You know? And and
- 49:04Speaker 1: I remember thinking to myself, I'm like, it's gotta be riot,
- 49:07Speaker 1: It's gotta be like there's you know. And back then,
- 49:11Speaker 1: as you recall, the show was always edited to make
- 49:13Speaker 1: the second or third uh Evisually I was left in
- 49:16Speaker 1: the mix that person looked like hands down and they
- 49:19Speaker 1: had to be the person. And this is no not Charlie,
- 49:21Speaker 1: because I loved Charlie too, but it was like, you know,
- 49:23Speaker 1: there was it was always gonna be that was the
- 49:25Speaker 1: person of the crowd thought, oh, this is it. And
- 49:27Speaker 1: then then the person who would come in in the
- 49:30Speaker 1: end and be the one that got the proposal or
- 49:32Speaker 1: was the one that actually proposed and it was the
- 49:35Speaker 1: proposal was accepted. They were the ones that, you know,
- 49:37Speaker 1: I feel a lot of footage was probably left to
- 49:39Speaker 1: the cutting room floor of them, because they really were
- 49:41Speaker 1: kind of stacking the deck so that people would be surprised.
- 49:44Speaker 1: And um, and I mean that's that's not a secret.
- 49:46Speaker 1: That was something that I think, you know, was pretty
- 49:48Speaker 1: out after like the first five or six seasons and
- 49:50Speaker 1: that's when they started switching up the formats of the
- 49:52Speaker 1: show and stuff. But I just remember that day that
- 49:55Speaker 1: I remember thinking to myself, like, it's time. It's time
- 49:58Speaker 1: for me to get out of the way here because
- 50:00Speaker 1: I I don't want to be a distraction and and
- 50:04Speaker 1: um and you know, and you obviously were thinking the
- 50:06Speaker 1: same thing as me, because that's when you let me go.
- 50:08Speaker 1: But it was like one of those things. I was
- 50:09Speaker 1: kind of like, I remember thinking how much I wanted
- 50:11Speaker 1: you to meet my family and everything, but also how
- 50:13Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not ready if we were to
- 50:16Speaker 1: go to the next level, would I be able to
- 50:17Speaker 1: pull the trigger and do the right thing? And I
- 50:19Speaker 1: I'm not ready. But if I look at this room
- 50:21Speaker 1: of guys, who is ready? Who is and who's ready
- 50:24Speaker 1: for this person? Specifically? That was Ryan? That was Ryan
- 50:29Speaker 1: all day long. It I can say, honestly, you know,
- 50:32Speaker 1: remembering back then, he wouldn't have been the way that
- 50:35Speaker 1: he was with you, which is anybody you know that
- 50:37Speaker 1: wasn't That wasn't Ryan Sutter style, you know what I mean.
- 50:40Speaker 1: He was that way with you because you were you
- 50:43Speaker 1: and that was what he wanted, and it was I mean,
- 50:45Speaker 1: it was genuine from the jump. And I remember thinking myself, like, God,
- 50:49Speaker 1: that's that's the one, you know. So it's always nice
- 50:52Speaker 1: to to be associated with with that era of this show.
- 50:56Speaker 1: And you were there. We were there the golden years.
- 51:00Speaker 1: As we say, yeah, yeah, I can say it too.
- 51:05Speaker 1: We are, I guess in our golden era as fifty
- 51:08Speaker 1: year old or fifty plus year old whatever we are.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Plus he's just a baby's little babe. I love you.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I hope you feel better. I know you're not feeling
- 51:22Speaker 1: great today, but I hope you are still reveling in
- 51:24Speaker 1: the good feelings from your birthday bash. Yes, it was
- 51:28Speaker 1: so fun. Thank you, Thank you for the chat. I'm
- 51:33Speaker 1: glad we got to chat again today, And as always,
- 51:36Speaker 1: tune in to the next almost famous O. G.
