- Najah: Let me tell yall something. It took me years to learn the difference between being useful and being used. Because while you're in it, they can look like the exact same thing. You're showing up, you're helping. You're making things easier. You're being somebody that people can depend on. And when you know you have a good heart. It could take a while to notice when appreciation has turned into expectation. And that was the difference that I had to learn. Being useful is something that I choose. being used is when people start feeling entitled to what I do. When my yes is expected. And my no becomes the problem. But now I know better. I know when someone truly values me. versus when they only value how convenient I make their life. And I still hope. I still show up. I'm still very much somebody people can depend on. I've never stopped being useful. I just finally learned how to stop being used.
