- 0:08Speaker 1: Lots of things happening in the studio that I was
- 0:13Speaker 1: deciding whether we say or not say, but let's say.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Rich is not here. Rich, can you hear us? He's
- 0:19Speaker 1: at home. Yeah, I got you loud and clear. Okay.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It's almost like, should I not say anything or would
- 0:24Speaker 1: it sound different? No, I like that.
- 0:25Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I know, it's fine, but I'm just wondering if it
- 0:28Speaker 1: sounds like you're in here or not because I can't
- 0:29Speaker 1: look at you. Now you have nothing to say? You
- 0:33Speaker 1: talk 24-7. I thought you were going to continue your sentence. No, no, no. Well,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I mean, I can see Peyton. I can see Kyle.
- 0:39Speaker 1: What happened to you? Why are you not here in
- 0:41Speaker 1: the studio this morning? It's the weirdest thing.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I was just getting ready this morning, stepping into the
- 0:48Speaker 3: shower to get all clean for the day, because I
- 0:50Speaker 3: love a morning shower. And my knee popped, and it
- 0:53Speaker 3: just dropped me.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. And it is bad.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Like, I would say, right now, even though I'm kind of,
- 1:00Speaker 3: you know, full of Advil... I would say it's a
- 1:03Speaker 3: 9 out of 10 on the oh, crap level.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Did you cry? Because I feel like a 9 out
- 1:07Speaker 4: of 10.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Tears would have to come down.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I did, but I could also tell that Stacy was
- 1:12Speaker 3: moving into the bathroom, and I was... hunched over and naked,
- 1:16Speaker 3: so I wanted to remedy that right away. So I
- 1:19Speaker 3: towelled up and I said, hey, let me get to
- 1:21Speaker 3: the bed and get some clothes on, and then I'll
- 1:23Speaker 3: tell you what's happening. Can you please leave the room?
- 1:26Speaker 1: So she did.
- 1:27Speaker 5: It's your wife.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 5: She's seen you in your birthday suit.
- 1:32Speaker 1: We're not that tight.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I just thought it would be terrible. Okay,
- 1:38Speaker 1: so you wake up, you get out of bed, you
- 1:40Speaker 1: hear a pop in your knee, and you go down. Yeah, so.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I get back to, you know, I get cleaned up
- 1:46Speaker 3: because I can stand. I just can't move. So I
- 1:49Speaker 3: got cleaned up and then I kind of scooted back
- 1:51Speaker 3: to the bed and got, you know, some sweatpants and
- 1:55Speaker 3: a shirt on and asked Stacy to go grab crutches.
- 1:58Speaker 3: But as I'm looking at my knee, it is super swollen.
- 2:00Speaker 3: So I think x-rays are in order as soon as
- 2:03Speaker 3: the show is over today.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Are you vaccinated?
- 2:06Speaker 5: Did that affect the knee?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Hey, did you happen to watch, this is so crazy,
- 2:10Speaker 1: did you happen to watch the newest episode of Ted
- 2:12Speaker 1: Lasso that came out yesterday? Did you remember all the
- 2:15Speaker 1: characters on Ted Lasso? Remember Roy Kent? Yeah, Roy Kent.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Roy Kent. He's on a date, he's doing this thing
- 2:21Speaker 1: where he's got to date 10 girls before he, Keely
- 2:24Speaker 1: will see him again, right? And so he starts flirting
- 2:28Speaker 1: with a bartender and he goes into the back and
- 2:31Speaker 1: him and the bartender are going at it. Like they're
- 2:32Speaker 1: making out and things are about to happen and all
- 2:35Speaker 1: of a sudden, He screams. I was going to play
- 2:38Speaker 1: the clip, but it's so many F-bombs in it. He screams,
- 2:40Speaker 1: my knee, my knee, my effing knee. And he goes
- 2:42Speaker 1: down to the ground. He pops, his knee pops, and
- 2:44Speaker 1: then he's in the hospital. It's like you're copying Ted Lasso.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Without the makeup. You're so topical.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Unless you're leaving that out.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I was just moving throughout my home, just trying to
- 2:56Speaker 1: be normal. Okay, well, it sounds fine. So, I mean,
- 3:00Speaker 1: it sounds like as far as the show goes, I
- 3:02Speaker 1: think we can do a normal show. We can do
- 3:03Speaker 1: a show. Let's see what happens. We've got Robert on
- 3:04Speaker 1: the line. Robert, you've got a comment about War of
- 3:06Speaker 1: the Roses? Yes, sir.
- 3:08Speaker 2: How are you guys doing? So, yeah, just listening. I've
- 3:11Speaker 2: heard this several times before, but the roles were reversed.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And in this case, it seemed like Kyle and Peyton
- 3:17Speaker 2: were awful quiet, almost like it's one-sided. I mean, Courtney
- 3:22Speaker 2: kind of turned that around where it was Marshall's. fault
- 3:25Speaker 2: basically but i was kind of surprised that kyle and
- 3:28Speaker 2: payton were uh were a little bit uh sealed lift
- 3:31Speaker 2: on that.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Side so you mean if the wars if the rules
- 3:34Speaker 1: wait the roles were reversed like explain yes sir explain
- 3:39Speaker 1: the roles being reversed so.
- 3:41Speaker 2: So if if marshall went out to eat dinner with
- 3:44Speaker 2: a girl and the wife courtney caught him and marshall
- 3:48Speaker 2: said well you know the same as courtney said uh
- 3:52Speaker 2: i think Kylan Payton would have jumped all over Marshall saying, man,
- 3:55Speaker 2: you're really gaslighting her saying, you know, it's it's it's
- 3:59Speaker 2: it's her fault.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It's Courtney's fault for even being in that situation.
- 4:04Speaker 5: I think I didn't say much because it was like
- 4:05Speaker 5: she's busted.
- 4:06Speaker 6: It's not like and a lot of times during War
- 4:08Speaker 6: of the Roses, they try to deny it.
- 4:09Speaker 5: And it's like, yeah, you are guilty. But it was
- 4:13Speaker 5: like she was caught.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 4: And she was wrong. Absolutely.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 2: No, I don't know. I just kind of maybe I
- 4:21Speaker 2: expected a little more from you two being ladies.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Because I've heard you jump on the guys all over
- 4:26Speaker 2: the guys saying, hey, man, you're in the wrong here.
- 4:28Speaker 2: You know, in this case, it was just like mom's
- 4:29Speaker 2: the word. Just be quiet.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You wanted us to scold her. Robert turns into.
- 4:33Speaker 2: A consultant all of a sudden.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I expected more from you two since you were ladies.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I expected.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Hey, just real quick, I'm an original listener. I remember
- 4:44Speaker 2: the day you guys came on. I remember who you
- 4:45Speaker 2: took over for. I remember where I was when I
- 4:47Speaker 2: turned the radio on. And when I first started hearing
- 4:50Speaker 2: you guys, I thought I was on the wrong channel.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And then I thought, man, these guys are idiots, right?
- 4:54Speaker 2: I'm not listening to these guys anymore, but here I am.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Right on.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That doesn't change if we're idiots or not, but you
- 5:00Speaker 1: just get it.
- 5:01Speaker 2: No, it doesn't.
- 5:03Speaker 4: You guys work.
- 5:05Speaker 2: You guys wore me down. That's what happened.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Good.
- 5:08Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Yes, sir. Thanks, Robert. Really appreciate you listening, man. Where
- 5:12Speaker 1: are you? What part of town are you in right now?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Where are you?
- 5:15Speaker 2: I am in, I'm I-17 in Thunderbird right now. Head
- 5:17Speaker 2: over to Scottsdale.
- 5:19Speaker 1: What's in Scottsdale?
- 5:21Speaker 2: We own a swimming pool company, so we're specialized in Scottsdale.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Oh, what's the name of the pool company? Give it
- 5:27Speaker 1: a little love, Robert.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, the company name is The Pool Shack. We've been
- 5:32Speaker 2: in business for 15 plus years. I carry a KA5 license.
- 5:35Speaker 2: We dig a hole, build a pool, and we do
- 5:36Speaker 2: anything and everything from building pools all the way down
- 5:38Speaker 2: into just your weekly pool cleaning.
- 5:40Speaker 1: The Pool Shack. That's what it's called?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Is your theme song, do you use the theme song
- 5:45Speaker 1: from Love Shack?
- 5:46Speaker 9: Pool Shack!
- 5:47Speaker 2: Maybe Pool Shack! I should get that in my life sometime.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 2: She's not thrilled about it, but I still sing it.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Do you do like, if you see an empty pool
- 5:55Speaker 1: that is 15 miles to the pool shack.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Maybe I can hire you.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I was going to say, I can clip that and
- 6:04Speaker 1: just send it to Robert. That way you can use
- 6:06Speaker 1: it for Rose. Yes, sir.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Thanks for calling in, brother. Thank you so much. Thank you.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Talk to you later.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Bye. Shane, you've got a comment on War of the Roses.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so is it cheating, right?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Oh, you're calling about that. Oh, he's a cheating thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Go ahead. Very similar to what we're doing.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no worries. I was going to piggyback off the
- 6:27Speaker 2: girl who was like, oh, I'll have a couple of
- 6:29Speaker 2: drinks and like to kiss girls. You know, that situation
- 6:33Speaker 2: happened to me. And I was the husband who was like, yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 2: that's cool. But a slippery slope because after 13 years
- 6:40Speaker 2: of marriage, she came out. So not considering it cheating
- 6:45Speaker 2: at the time. Right.
- 6:48Speaker 1: So she dumped you?
- 6:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah, we separated.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And she's with the girl now?
- 6:55Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Wow.
- 6:56Speaker 4: She was just being herself around you.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That's a beautiful story.
- 7:00Speaker 6: I mean, for a while, it was like you were
- 7:01Speaker 6: just letting her be herself, and then she was like,
- 7:03Speaker 6: by the way, and I can't be with you anymore.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Right. It's unfortunate for Shane, for sure.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I have something else to tell you about myself. Hey, Shane,
- 7:12Speaker 1: thanks for calling in, man. How are you doing now, though?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Are you remarried? Are you dating other people?
- 7:17Speaker 2: No, yeah, I was just single with my two kids,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and I was rocking and rolling.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Right on, Shane.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Hey, Shane, what city are you in right now?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Fort Collins.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Right on, Fort Collins. Thanks for listening, brother. Thank you
- 7:29Speaker 1: so much.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I appreciate it, you guys.
- 7:33Speaker 1: So some stuff behind the scenes, too, is like our
- 7:35Speaker 1: show is on in all these different cities, and sometimes
- 7:37Speaker 1: they play something back at a different time, and that's
- 7:39Speaker 1: what's happening. Because I know, actually, in about 30 minutes,
- 7:43Speaker 1: we're talking to somebody else. We're talking to a soccer coach.
- 7:45Speaker 1: That is going through something very similar to Shane. And
- 7:48Speaker 1: he needs advice, so we're talking a little bit. Lots
- 7:50Speaker 1: of stuff going on. Della, now you're calling about something
- 7:54Speaker 1: totally different about what we did yesterday, right? About, like,
- 7:57Speaker 1: things you don't believe, right?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I am.
- 8:00Speaker 8: I'm calling about something I don't believe. I really don't
- 8:02Speaker 8: believe that people like puppies.
- 8:04Speaker 4: How can you not believe that?
- 8:07Speaker 1: How can you not believe that?
- 8:08Speaker 5: Who doesn't like a puppy?
- 8:09Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 8:10Speaker 8: They are so irritating. It's like having a toddler. They
- 8:16Speaker 8: are bad. They're so bad. They chew everything. They go
- 8:20Speaker 8: to the bathroom everywhere. It's just a lot of maintenance.
- 8:25Speaker 10: Oh, I mean, they're so cute.
- 8:26Speaker 8: Of course, of course. But I would never want to, like.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Have a puppy.
- 8:30Speaker 9: I actually feel you on that. Like, I'm not necessarily
- 8:32Speaker 9: the biggest dog people. I like a puppy.
- 8:34Speaker 4: The puppies are so cute. I would not want to
- 8:36Speaker 4: train a puppy.
- 8:36Speaker 9: I would not want to, like, Kyle, what you got
- 8:38Speaker 9: going on with Poppy right now, like, credit to you
- 8:41Speaker 9: because it could not be me.
- 8:43Speaker 4: She's a good puppy.
- 8:44Speaker 5: She's only eating the wall a little bit.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 8:48Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 8:49Speaker 9: You are completely proving Della's point.
- 8:53Speaker 1: By the way, you like dogs. You like dogs. You
- 8:55Speaker 1: just don't like puppies, right?
- 8:57Speaker 9: Of course.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 8:58Speaker 8: I have an older dog, actually, and I'll continue to
- 9:03Speaker 8: get older dogs. Just never a puppy.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Hey, I know people like you. We have at our
- 9:08Speaker 1: Love Pup Shelter, you know, we have dogs all ages,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and it's tough because a lot of people only want puppies. So, yeah. So, Della,
- 9:15Speaker 1: thank you for calling in, and thank you for listening.
- 9:18Speaker 7: Of course.
- 9:18Speaker 8: Thank you so much.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You guys enjoy the rest of your day. We're going
- 9:22Speaker 1: to play Minute to Win It. We need a contestant.
- 9:25Speaker 4: 877-937-1047.
- 9:25Speaker 1: By the way, so yesterday, we'll give a little behind
- 9:28Speaker 1: the scenes. So yesterday, I'm doing a lot of behind
- 9:30Speaker 1: the scenes today, was National Dog Day. And, you know,
- 9:35Speaker 1: my wife and I have the Love Pup Shelter. And
- 9:37Speaker 1: for the last three years, my wife and my sister
- 9:40Speaker 1: have been working on this app. It's an app for
- 9:42Speaker 1: dog people called Love Pup Plus. And it should really,
- 9:46Speaker 1: really change... the dog world, the rescue world. I mean,
- 9:49Speaker 1: it's a very innovative app. She's been working on it forever.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And about a couple weeks ago, the app dropped on
- 9:55Speaker 1: Google Play. That's how you say it, right, guys? Google Play?
- 9:58Speaker 6: Uh-huh.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Yesterday it got approved on Apple. So it hasn't, and
- 10:05Speaker 1: it's like any second now it'll be on the apple
- 10:08Speaker 1: app the app store so any second now so we're
- 10:10Speaker 1: like everyone's looking waiting and waiting waiting so it's pretty
- 10:13Speaker 1: big it's pretty cool it's exciting because it got approved
- 10:15Speaker 1: on dog day like oh yeah she came out she
- 10:18Speaker 1: was playing majan with some friends and i'm trying to
- 10:21Speaker 1: watch freaking jack reacher and she comes watch she comes
- 10:24Speaker 1: out she's crying and i'm like what's going on she's
- 10:27Speaker 1: like i've got a bro i've worked so hard she
- 10:32Speaker 1: And she's like hugging me like if someone died.
- 10:34Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I was like, yeah. And I'm like, hey, Reacher's about
- 10:37Speaker 1: to kill somebody. Oh, my gosh.
- 10:38Speaker 5: You're the worst, John Jay.
- 10:39Speaker 1: No, I'm so good.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Oh, my gosh. Congratulations. You've been working so hard on this.
- 10:43Speaker 5: What a big milestone.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I know. I did. His response, trying to watch Reacher. Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So anyway, so hit refresh and go to the App
- 10:51Speaker 1: Store or Google Store and download Love Pup Plus. It's free,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and it's going to really, really help the dog world. Okay, Rich,
- 10:58Speaker 1: can you do a minute to win it from your house?
- 11:00Speaker 1: I can. I just wasn't able to hear our phone callers. Well,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I haven't said her name yet. Well, I couldn't hear
- 11:05Speaker 1: the last ones either. Oh, really? Uh-oh. What did we
- 11:08Speaker 1: do there, Nick? I got it. It's already good. Okay,
- 11:10Speaker 1: let's see. Let's see. Carly, are you there?
- 11:14Speaker 9: Yes, I'm here.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Ah, good. Now I can hear her.
- 11:17Speaker 8: Good morning.
- 11:17Speaker 1: All right, we're going to play Minute to Win to Carly.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Okay, Carly, 60 seconds on the clock. You just got
- 11:23Speaker 3: to get 10 of these right in a row to
- 11:24Speaker 3: win the whole thing. You can do it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 11:27Speaker 3: 60 seconds starts right now. What candy uses the slogan,
- 11:31Speaker 3: melts in your mouth? What candy uses the slogan, melts
- 11:35Speaker 3: in your mouth?
- 11:35Speaker 5: I can't hear you now.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I think you have to put me in OL as well, Nick. Okay,
- 11:43Speaker 1: hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Good morning, are you guys there? Carly, can you hear
- 11:46Speaker 4: me now?
- 11:46Speaker 1: Hold on, we don't all need to talk. I can
- 11:48Speaker 1: hear you now, yeah. Okay. Okay, Carly, can you hear me?
- 11:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Okay, here we go. 60 seconds on the clock. What
- 11:58Speaker 3: candy uses a slogan, melts in your mouth, not.
- 12:01Speaker 1: In your hands?
- 12:02Speaker 2: M & M' s.
- 12:04Speaker 3: What soccer position can use their hands inside the penalty area?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Goalie.
- 12:12Speaker 3: What Phoenix landmark is home to the Echo Canyon Trail?
- 12:19Speaker 1: Um.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Most famous mountain we have.
- 12:27Speaker 9: The most famous spot we have?
- 12:28Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 12:29Speaker 1: The famous mountain we have.
- 12:32Speaker 8: Thunderbird Mountain?
- 12:33Speaker 1: Camelback Mountain? I'm going to give you that. Camelback is good.
- 12:37Speaker 1: She got it wrong. She said Thunderbird Mountain. Oh, I
- 12:39Speaker 1: didn't hear that. It was a stutter, John Jay.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Well, I know.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I mean, we got to follow the rules. We got
- 12:44Speaker 1: to follow the rules, whether Rich is at home and
- 12:46Speaker 1: under medication or not. Oh, come on. I mean, her
- 12:49Speaker 1: answer was Thunderbird Mountain.
- 12:50Speaker 8: The lady that won it that time, though, she didn't
- 12:52Speaker 8: follow the rules. She got the answer wrong.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And you guys said she got it right and still gave.
- 12:56Speaker 4: It to her.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Well, dang. Well, let me break down what you just said.
- 13:03Speaker 1: You said she got it right. You said that we
- 13:05Speaker 1: said she got it right. But here I'm saying you
- 13:07Speaker 1: got it wrong. So you said Thunderbird Mountain, right? That
- 13:13Speaker 1: was your answer, and then Rich kept going.
- 13:14Speaker 7: I said it, yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Then Rich kept giving you clues for some reason. He was, like,
- 13:16Speaker 1: playing a different game.
- 13:17Speaker 6: I mean, I will say, whether, like, that counted or not,
- 13:22Speaker 6: you probably would have run out of time only just because.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah, time was running out.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 1: All right, Carly, but hold on. You were a great contestant, Carly. Okay, there. Rich,
- 13:31Speaker 1: if you don't know, if you're just tuning in, Rich
- 13:33Speaker 1: blew out his knee. He's in his basement right now,
- 13:36Speaker 1: heavily medicated. For me, yeah. I don't ever take Advil.
- 13:41Speaker 1: That's a pretty strong drug. Okay. So listen, Phoenix and
- 13:45Speaker 1: Arizona's in the news in the last 24 hours for
- 13:47Speaker 1: some big stuff that some of us understand, some of
- 13:49Speaker 1: us don't understand. It was a big deal about the Michelin,
- 13:52Speaker 1: the Michelin thing, right? Yes. They were going to make
- 13:55Speaker 1: a big announcement, the Michelin thing. And I have a friend.
- 13:57Speaker 1: He's on social media. He goes by the name of
- 13:59Speaker 1: AZ Sports Guy. He's a great guy. Bumped into many
- 14:03Speaker 1: times at Suns games and different events. And he's turned
- 14:06Speaker 1: into this massive food critic. And I saw him post
- 14:10Speaker 1: yesterday that he was carrying the Michelin announcement live. So
- 14:15Speaker 1: I figured this guy's an expert. I don't know if
- 14:18Speaker 1: he's ever been on the radio before. But he's a
- 14:20Speaker 1: friend of mine. And I asked him to jump on
- 14:23Speaker 1: to explain. Nathan, are you there? AZ Sports Guy?
- 14:25Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 7: Good morning, John Jay. It's Mr. AZ Sports, but you
- 14:29Speaker 7: were close.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 14:30Speaker 1: What did I say?
- 14:31Speaker 2: AZ Sports guy.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Mr. Sorry. I mean, it was so formal.
- 14:37Speaker 5: AZ Sports guy that's a food guy.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You will treat him with respect, sir. Explain that, Nathan.
- 14:42Speaker 1: How did you become a food guy when you're a
- 14:44Speaker 1: sports guy?
- 14:46Speaker 7: We're actually thinking about changing my name because I'm more
- 14:49Speaker 7: food than I'm sports, but yeah, that's a really good question.
- 14:52Speaker 7: I started out doing a lot of sports stuff, but
- 14:55Speaker 7: I've learned that I have more of a passion for
- 14:57Speaker 7: food and just interviews than I do sports anyway. So
- 15:00Speaker 7: I'll probably change my name eventually here soon.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Now, I will tell you guys this. I was with Nathan,
- 15:05Speaker 1: who's a sports guy, and I had to point out
- 15:07Speaker 1: Michael Jordan to him. yes i did yes i did
- 15:12Speaker 1: dude i go look right there's michael jordan that's my
- 15:15Speaker 1: like what what what come on.
- 15:17Speaker 7: Dude you know that's okay that did happen yeah i
- 15:20Speaker 7: forgot about that yeah okay.
- 15:22Speaker 1: All right anyway can you explain the michelin thing what
- 15:25Speaker 1: what what that's all about and what happened last night
- 15:28Speaker 1: and which restaurants got it and didn't get it.
- 15:30Speaker 7: Yeah so michelin finally came to arizona for the first
- 15:33Speaker 7: time ever this is like their first ever exploration like
- 15:37Speaker 7: expanding to arizona they've just never really done anything out here.
- 15:41Speaker 7: So they, this was started years ago as a tire
- 15:45Speaker 7: company because they, the tire company wanted people to go
- 15:48Speaker 7: out and travel more, to put more miles on their car,
- 15:51Speaker 7: to use more tires, to create more business. So this
- 15:54Speaker 7: guy was created just as the tire company to generate
- 15:57Speaker 7: more revenue for them. And it's turned into like the
- 16:00Speaker 7: most famous restaurant guide in the world. And last night
- 16:05Speaker 7: we didn't get a star, which I think is completely wrong.
- 16:08Speaker 7: I think we should have got at least one star,
- 16:10Speaker 7: but we did get three people recognized. Three individuals in
- 16:15Speaker 7: the industry got their own recognition, which is super cool.
- 16:18Speaker 7: Like Rene at Bacanora got one, and then John at
- 16:21Speaker 7: Reserve for his wine got a star, which is really
- 16:25Speaker 7: cool because Reserve and Café Monarch have some of the
- 16:28Speaker 7: most unbelievable wine pairing in the world.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Oh, hold on a second. So Reserve is part of
- 16:32Speaker 1: Café Monarch?
- 16:35Speaker 7: They're the same owner.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Oh, it's the one across the street.
- 16:37Speaker 7: So they're pretty much like brother, sister.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Is it the one across the street?
- 16:39Speaker 7: So it's a Christian.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's across the street, right? From Monarch? Yes. Oh, yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 1: I've been there. Yeah. I think I've been there. Okay.
- 16:44Speaker 7: Reserve is seasonal, too. So it's only open, I think,
- 16:48Speaker 7: from October to April.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 16:50Speaker 7: So I actually like Reserve better than Monarch, personally.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Okay, Bacanora.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Bacanora. I've never been there.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Oh, Bacanora is so good.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Reserve.
- 16:58Speaker 7: You've never been to Bacanora?
- 16:59Speaker 1: I have not. I have not.
- 17:01Speaker 2: You're crazy.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Okay, so what's the third one?
- 17:05Speaker 7: Uh fmb charlene she got one for mindful voices i've
- 17:10Speaker 7: actually never been to fmb so i'm gonna actually have
- 17:13Speaker 7: to go there soon.
- 17:14Speaker 1: So people told me you need to watch a lot
- 17:16Speaker 1: of stuff.
- 17:19Speaker 7: A lot of stuff there on their menus like hard
- 17:21Speaker 7: to pronounce so i'm probably going to get uh ratioed
- 17:24Speaker 7: in the comments because i can never pronounce anything.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Correctly that's your personality well i don't worry where is f.
- 17:29Speaker 2: And b i think it's old town What?
- 17:33Speaker 1: I've never heard of it. It's an effing old town.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Medicaid and rich is funny. Is it French?
- 17:41Speaker 6: What is it?
- 17:42Speaker 1: Food and beverage. I don't know. I'm making that up.
- 17:46Speaker 4: That makes sense.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Kind of on the nose.
- 17:49Speaker 7: We did get seven bibs though, which is pretty big,
- 17:52Speaker 7: which the bibs is basically just like good quality and
- 17:55Speaker 7: good value cooking and I think the bibs, I think
- 17:58Speaker 7: they got all of them right. They gave them one
- 18:00Speaker 7: to Little Miss Barbecue, which is, I think, the best
- 18:02Speaker 7: barbecue in the country.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 18:04Speaker 7: I don't necessarily agree with Pizza Bianco. I'm not a
- 18:07Speaker 7: Pizza Bianco guy. I think there's way better pizzas than that. But, like,
- 18:11Speaker 7: Kid Sister, that's like a hidden gem. Like, I don't
- 18:14Speaker 7: think a lot of people know about Kid Sister and
- 18:16Speaker 7: they want a bib.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Never heard of it.
- 18:18Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I mean. So we did well in
- 18:21Speaker 7: other areas. It's just disappointing, like, I don't know how
- 18:25Speaker 7: Christopher at Wrigley Mansion didn't get a Michelin star. That's
- 18:29Speaker 7: just like you decredit yourself by not giving yourself one there.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Okay. I think I've been there once a long time
- 18:35Speaker 1: ago with my in-laws. But what else? What other restaurants
- 18:38Speaker 1: have got some accolades here?
- 18:40Speaker 7: Uh, we got Christopher, uh, Christopher, we're gonna match with Glybon.
- 18:44Speaker 7: You've been to Glybon, right?
- 18:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I told you guys about that place. That's the Thai
- 18:48Speaker 1: food restaurant right down the street. It's, it's a house.
- 18:51Speaker 1: It's fantastic.
- 18:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I came in and did a whole thing with
- 18:55Speaker 1: you guys. You might remember.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I remember something about Thai food. What was it called?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Glybon. Glybon. I went to a Thai food place two
- 19:02Speaker 1: days ago too. I went to, have you ever been
- 19:03Speaker 1: to Thai Rama? Nathan?
- 19:05Speaker 7: Yes. That place rocks.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:07Speaker 10: Right.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I was just there two days ago. The one in
- 19:09Speaker 1: Chandler is so good.
- 19:11Speaker 10: But all right so what else is great what else
- 19:14Speaker 10: hush public house i don't know if you guys have
- 19:16Speaker 10: been there but like dom at hush public houses that's
- 19:19Speaker 10: like one of my top favorite restaurants that place is.
- 19:22Speaker 7: Unbelievable indie bar this one kind of caught me off
- 19:25Speaker 7: guard this one's like kind of brand new it's called
- 19:28Speaker 7: pretty penny it's in downtown phoenix it's really solid but
- 19:32Speaker 7: it's only been open for like six months so it
- 19:34Speaker 7: was cool to see that like a new restaurant just
- 19:36Speaker 7: showed up on the scene and Uh, got notarized reserve
- 19:40Speaker 7: shin Bay. Have you been there yet? Shin Bay?
- 19:42Speaker 1: No, no.
- 19:44Speaker 7: Well, shin Bay is some of the best fish. It's
- 19:47Speaker 7: an Amakasi like 14 course Amakasi.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Menu. It's just unbelievable.
- 19:52Speaker 7: So Akinor got recognized, uh, fry bread house.
- 19:56Speaker 10: So like we overall did.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:58Speaker 7: It's just, I think we got robbed. I think it's
- 20:00Speaker 7: just Arizona's cursed, and we just don't win anything anywhere.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Let me ask you this, though. So it was the
- 20:06Speaker 1: Michelin thing yesterday. Was it about all restaurants across the country,
- 20:09Speaker 1: or was it specifically about Arizona?
- 20:11Speaker 5: It was Southwest.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Oh, Southwest. Okay, so is there a restaurant that did
- 20:14Speaker 1: get one? And if so, where is it?
- 20:17Speaker 7: Vegas got one. I would have to go look it
- 20:19Speaker 7: up where. I don't remember where. I didn't really care
- 20:23Speaker 7: once they robbed us.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it. Hey, so let me ask you about,
- 20:27Speaker 1: let me shift gears. Let's go to sports for a second.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Since you are a sports guy, we're talking to AZ Sports, Mr.
- 20:31Speaker 1: AZ Sports guy, Nathan. And you've seen him on social media.
- 20:33Speaker 1: He's got a handlebar mustache. And he always interviews all
- 20:36Speaker 1: these celebrities. What's going on with the Diamondbacks? And what's
- 20:39Speaker 1: the guy's name? Martel? Ketel Marte. Ketel Marte, yeah.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Kettle?
- 20:42Speaker 1: I had to call him Kettle. Kettle Marte. I called
- 20:44Speaker 1: him Kettle Marte.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Kettle Marte.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Kettle Marte. So what's going on with him? He's been disappearing,
- 20:48Speaker 1: not showing up, do you know?
- 20:50Speaker 7: That's that question. I don't think anybody still knows. They
- 20:53Speaker 7: still haven't told us anything. He's on the IL till Tuesday.
- 20:57Speaker 7: And I guess we'll find out on Tuesday. Sadly, they
- 20:59Speaker 7: haven't really told us anything. No one really knows. They
- 21:02Speaker 7: haven't put out a statement. So we're all just sitting
- 21:04Speaker 7: here waiting to see if he comes back. But the
- 21:06Speaker 7: good news is the Dimebacks just took two games from
- 21:08Speaker 7: the Cubs. And we needed to win those two games.
- 21:13Speaker 7: We're still in the race. So if we can figure
- 21:15Speaker 7: out a way to keep winning... The series at the
- 21:19Speaker 7: end of the year is versus the Padres. So it
- 21:22Speaker 7: literally might come down to the last series of the year,
- 21:24Speaker 7: D-backs versus Padres in San Diego. Winner of the series
- 21:27Speaker 7: gets the playoff spot. So we just got to keep winning.
- 21:29Speaker 7: We can still make the playoffs. We just got to
- 21:31Speaker 7: keep winning.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, he's still a sports guy. He's still got some
- 21:34Speaker 1: sports on. I know, Mr. AZ Sports Guy. Yeah. All right, Nathan. Hey,
- 21:38Speaker 1: and Monday, I'll talk to you. Nathan's going to jump
- 21:41Speaker 1: on my podcast on Monday, the highly successful John J.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Van Ness podcast.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Looking forward to it.
- 21:46Speaker 7: Thanks for having me, guys.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Hey, man, you were great on the radio. Nice job, dog.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Way to go. Thank you.
- 21:50Speaker 7: I appreciate it. And also, anyone who says puppies are bad,
- 21:53Speaker 7: you just can't take them seriously.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Puppies rock.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Right, right, right, right. All right, brother. I'll talk to
- 21:57Speaker 1: you later. Thanks, man.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Talk to you later.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Bye. That was interesting, the whole Michelin thing.
- 22:03Speaker 3: It's kind of a drag that of all the killer
- 22:06Speaker 3: places here, like Foofy and other, you think we would
- 22:10Speaker 3: have at least a dozen that would have that star.
