  Speaker 1: It's still be.
• 0:15
Speaker 2: Welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition It's to a
• 0:19
Speaker 2: Real Show, Episode number seven hundred and fifty four for
• 0:23
Speaker 2: July twenty fifth, twenty twenty four. Welcome to this week's
• 0:27
Speaker 2: edition of s R Team You. I am one after
• 0:31
Speaker 2: the show, I am Jeff Peck joined every single week,
• 0:34
Speaker 2: my show was the one only Doctor Troy Franklin, Doctor Trey.
• 0:37
Speaker 2: I never thought the NBA would affect professional wrestling.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: My friend, I mean, you had Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman,
• 0:46
Speaker 1: Shaquille O'Neill. I am to this day, I am still
• 0:50
Speaker 1: amazed that there was no Muggsy bogus crossover into the
• 0:54
Speaker 1: world of professional wrestling. But the NBA has had a
• 0:57
Speaker 1: slight impact on professional wrestling in the so why would
• 1:01
Speaker 1: now be any different.
• 1:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's definitely been a lot of impact in ring wise.
• 1:06
Speaker 2: Out of the ring wise is a whole nother ballgame,
• 1:09
Speaker 2: and that takes us to one of our first stories
• 1:13
Speaker 2: and topics that we'll cover here on this week's dition
• 1:15
Speaker 2: thepodcast Dot Trey. That being, there's been a lot of
• 1:18
Speaker 2: buzz and talk centered around aw's contract renewal negotiations with
• 1:22
Speaker 2: Warner Brothers Discovery aka TBS, TN T True TV if
• 1:26
Speaker 2: you're really into all that other stuff, and I think
• 1:28
Speaker 2: obviously Discovery Channel as well. Earlier this week, the reports
• 1:33
Speaker 2: were out there that they were nearing a deal, a
• 1:36
Speaker 2: deal would be announced soon. Stuff started popping up on
• 1:38
Speaker 2: HBO Max, I believe outside of the United States, which
• 1:42
Speaker 2: had people excited, and then a little bit of a
• 1:45
Speaker 2: bombshell Wednesday Night. Warner Brothers Discovery has always been bidding
• 1:52
Speaker 2: on TNT NBA on TNT, and they were going to
• 1:59
Speaker 2: match the that the NBA was currently offering. That being
• 2:04
Speaker 2: I think it was like a seventy six billion dollar
• 2:06
Speaker 2: deal and they had the right to match it. So
• 2:09
Speaker 2: they matched the deal, and I'm thinking, all right, great
• 2:11
Speaker 2: NBA on TNT is staying inside the NBA, Great NBA
• 2:15
Speaker 2: show for those who enjoy basketball is staying and we'll
• 2:18
Speaker 2: see how this affects all lead wrestling. It was basically
• 2:21
Speaker 2: kind of quasi potentially hanging up the announcement of a deal,
• 2:25
Speaker 2: and then the NBA announces that Warner Brothers Discovery did
• 2:29
Speaker 2: not fully match everything that Amazon was offering in their
• 2:35
Speaker 2: deal for the NBA, and hence they were going to
• 2:39
Speaker 2: award the contract for NBA to NBA on NBC's return, ESPN,
• 2:44
Speaker 2: Disney and Amazon Prime Video, leaving Warner Brothers Discovery without
• 2:49
Speaker 2: the NBA, which now puts into a little bit of
• 2:54
Speaker 2: an interesting tailspin. How does the NBA affect all lead wrestling?
• 2:56
Speaker 2: How does it affect professional wrestling? There are two schools
• 3:00
Speaker 2: a thought here. One school of thought is this is
• 3:03
Speaker 2: just going to lead into you know, TNT. Warner Brothers
• 3:06
Speaker 2: Discovery cannot lose all elite wrestling, therefore they will resign them,
• 3:10
Speaker 2: keep them on their network and have regular original programming.
• 3:15
Speaker 2: The second school of thought here is the NBA leaving
• 3:18
Speaker 2: Warner Brothers Discovery could lead to a whole new revamp
• 3:22
Speaker 2: of focus and programming on Warner Brothers Discovery. A llah
• 3:26
Speaker 2: what happened in two thousand and one when they wanted
• 3:28
Speaker 2: to get out of original programming and just focus I
• 3:31
Speaker 2: believe at that time on dramas, and that led to
• 3:33
Speaker 2: WCW being sold to w for pennies on the dollar.
• 3:36
Speaker 2: So we're kind of in this wait and see process.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: Sean ross Sapp reported from Fightful Select that Tony Kahan
• 3:43
Speaker 2: and David Zaslow Zazlov, who is the CEO of Warner
• 3:48
Speaker 2: Bu's Discovery are set to meet with one another during
• 3:51
Speaker 2: the Olympics over in Paris, France. So shout out Tony
• 3:54
Speaker 2: kanf for going to Paris, France. And that has always
• 3:56
Speaker 2: been on the calendar. Big weight in SEAE process here,
• 4:00
Speaker 2: Doctor Trey and you know, we really don't know where
• 4:04
Speaker 2: things are going right now, but this NBA deal could
• 4:07
Speaker 2: either positively or negatively affect the future potentially of all
• 4:11
Speaker 2: lead wrestling on Warner brother Discovery channels.
• 4:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you saw war Bros. Come out and
• 4:15
Speaker 1: say that they feel like they did match the offer.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: So this whole thing with Amazon the NBA is not
• 4:22
Speaker 1: quite over because that typically means there's gonna be some
• 4:25
Speaker 1: kind of litigation. It's some kind of lawsuit being filed
• 4:27
Speaker 1: and everything else. So yeah, it's it's a weird situation
• 4:32
Speaker 1: for Warner Brothers Discovery because you know, it's it's been
• 4:38
Speaker 1: bought and sold in transitioned so many times over the
• 4:41
Speaker 1: last decade, not even going back to the WCW days,
• 4:45
Speaker 1: just you know, in the last ten years, it's changed
• 4:48
Speaker 1: ownership pains like three times. So they're constantly trying to
• 4:51
Speaker 1: revamp and find you know, their their little wheelhouse, their
• 4:55
Speaker 1: little market niche that they can find a loyal subscriber base,
• 4:59
Speaker 1: and they keep tweaking things.
• 5:01
Speaker 3: And so that's you know, why we're at where we're now,
• 5:04
  Speaker 3: where it's like.
• 5:04
Speaker 1: You're not going to get a clear signal on which
• 5:07
Speaker 1: direction they're going to go. On one hand, you can
• 5:09
Speaker 1: look at and go, hey, this is really a sweet
• 5:11
Speaker 1: for AW, because if they don't get the agreement, Look,
• 5:14
Speaker 1: they just bid seventy six billion.
• 5:16
Speaker 3: Dollars on this, and apparently one of us, Discovery.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: Has many six billion dollars, and they can spend on
• 5:22
Speaker 1: AW or spend on other things and include AW that group.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: But if they do go the route of, look, nothing
• 5:29
Speaker 1: we have on this network right now is really generating interest.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: And if we lose the NBA, you know, should we
• 5:37
Speaker 1: just go the route of like the Roku channel and
• 5:39
Speaker 1: just play old movies and you know, stream Ghost Brothers
• 5:43
Speaker 1: non stop for people to watch, you know, which is
• 5:46
Speaker 1: the right direction to go.
• 5:47
Speaker 3: So it does kind of put everything up in the air.
• 5:50
Speaker 1: But I think, I mean, if you're Tony Conn, you
• 5:52
Speaker 1: can look at it and say, hey, you know, for
• 5:54
Speaker 1: for what we do, we have a strong audience base
• 5:58
Speaker 1: that draws you know, certain demographics, drust, certain viewership, and
• 6:02
Speaker 1: you can count on this and rely on this and
• 6:04
Speaker 1: bank on this and build around it and become your
• 6:09
Speaker 1: own little niche product.
• 6:10
Speaker 4: And you know it, could it be?
• 6:12
Speaker 1: Could they do like kind of a Spike TV did
• 6:14
Speaker 1: years and years ago and kind of make it into
• 6:17
Speaker 1: a Channel four guys, or a Channel four you know
• 6:20
Speaker 1: the combat sports market as well.
• 6:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a really interesting time right now because I
• 6:25
Speaker 2: think I would typically think that there's a good chance
• 6:31
Speaker 2: that all lead wrestling would stay now, but I don't
• 6:35
Speaker 2: think it's as cut and dry. Doctor Trey brought up
• 6:37
Speaker 2: a very good point that Warner Brothers Discovery is going
• 6:40
Speaker 2: to the courts in regards to challenge all this and
• 6:43
Speaker 2: say that they did match the offer. So that may
• 6:46
Speaker 2: be drawn out for some period of time, and who knows,
• 6:48
Speaker 2: maybe the end up NBA ends up back on TNT
• 6:51
Speaker 2: after the twenty twenty five season. They do have a
• 6:55
Speaker 2: sliver of this pie that they were willing to invest
• 6:58
Speaker 2: in the NBA, and I think I think their deal,
• 7:02
Speaker 2: I want to say, was to match like the like
• 7:04
Speaker 2: eleven billion, maybe eleven billion, of that seventy six billion
• 7:09
Speaker 2: dollar pie that was being combined there with Disney and
• 7:12
Speaker 2: NBA on NBC as well, So they have this money
• 7:17
Speaker 2: to play around with, and is that money that they
• 7:19
Speaker 2: want to invest in All Elite Wrestling. The unfortunate thing
• 7:24
Speaker 2: that I'll bring up here about All Eite Wrestling and
• 7:26
Speaker 2: it has no way whatsoever reflective of their programming. I
• 7:29
Speaker 2: would say in the last four to five weeks is
• 7:32
Speaker 2: their attendance has been low in the arenas and their
• 7:37
Speaker 2: viewership has been down from the year previously, in years
• 7:41
Speaker 2: previous to that's it's a drop that is concerning because
• 7:46
Speaker 2: most of the time in professional wrestling, unless you're WWE,
• 7:50
Speaker 2: when there's a drop in viewership like that, it is
• 7:53
Speaker 2: hard for a company to recover. And in the last
• 7:55
Speaker 2: twenty five years, you can immediately point to TNA Wrestling.
• 7:58
Speaker 2: There was a period of time TENA Wrestling was, how
• 8:00
Speaker 2: not as hot as ever All EAT Wrestling was, and
• 8:03
Speaker 2: they dropped and they're kind of a niche wrestling product
• 8:07
Speaker 2: now while at one time they were mainstream, and I
• 8:09
Speaker 2: would say All EAT Wrestling is mainstream at this point. Also,
• 8:15
Speaker 2: so if you're a wrestling fan, if you are enjoying
• 8:19
Speaker 2: what is going on in WE and you don't like
• 8:21
Speaker 2: All EIT Wrestling. If you're a wrestling fan who likes
• 8:23
Speaker 2: All EAT Wrestling and doesn't like WE. If you're a
• 8:26
Speaker 2: wrestling fan that loves WE and All Lead Wrestling, no
• 8:29
Speaker 2: matter where you sit, you need to be rooting for
• 8:31
Speaker 2: this television deal for All Eat Wrestling to happen. Because
• 8:36
Speaker 2: for AW to be on a network like Warner Brothers
• 8:40
Speaker 2: Discovery Channels is a good thing for professional wrestling as
• 8:43
Speaker 2: a whole because when AW launched, they push WE to
• 8:48
Speaker 2: be better and now that WWE has been better, I
• 8:53
Speaker 2: feel like, which is something we'll get on later on
• 8:55
Speaker 2: in the show. Here they are pushing AEW to be
• 8:58
Speaker 2: better creative and that is making for a really fun
• 9:02
Speaker 2: period of time profession and wrestling for the wrestling fan.
• 9:06
Speaker 2: So no matter where you sat, like, dislike in the
• 9:09
Speaker 2: middle on AW, you need to be cheering this on
• 9:12
Speaker 2: because AW having a television deal, whether you watch or not,
• 9:15
Speaker 2: is good for the industry as a whole. And I
• 9:18
Speaker 2: can't stress that enough.
• 9:19
Speaker 1: Doctor Try Yeah, I mean, competition breeds results. If there
• 9:24
Speaker 1: was no coke, there'd be no PEPSI. They wouldn't be
• 9:26
Speaker 1: pushing each other, you know, in years past, burking push
• 9:29
Speaker 1: McDonald's to be better.
• 9:30
Speaker 3: It's always been those things, you know, if you're a
• 9:32
  Speaker 3: sports fan.
• 9:33
Speaker 1: The Red Sox pushed the Geeds to be better, the
• 9:35
Speaker 1: Cardinals pushed the Cups to be better.
• 9:37
Speaker 3: You know, things like that.
• 9:38
Speaker 1: Those things really happen, and we saw, I mean, you
• 9:42
Speaker 1: and I talked a couple weeks ago off air about,
• 9:44
Speaker 1: you know, maybe one day doing a show on on
• 9:46
Speaker 1: WWE in the early two thousands, when you and I
• 9:48
Speaker 1: sat here were like, man, this show is so awful.
• 9:51
Speaker 1: I don't even know we should continue to podcast because
• 9:53
Speaker 1: it was just so bad.
• 9:54
  Speaker 3: Because there's no.
• 9:55
Speaker 1: Competition, they literally could just throw anything out there, and
• 9:59
Speaker 1: because there was such a loyal fan base, they knew
• 10:01
Speaker 1: they had so many people that was gonna eat it
• 10:03
Speaker 1: up regardless, and they'd be fine. When AW came along,
• 10:07
Speaker 1: we saw WW get better and change how they were
• 10:10
Speaker 1: doing things and adapt things that AW was doing differently
• 10:14
Speaker 1: and bring it into their fold. I mean a few
• 10:16
Speaker 1: years ago, we never saw guys walking through Gorilla through
• 10:20
  Speaker 1: the curtain.
• 10:20
Speaker 3: And that was something you saw on AW. We saw
• 10:23
Speaker 3: the camera angles change, we see the production things change.
• 10:26
Speaker 1: Competition brings results, and that's why if you're a wrestling fan,
• 10:29
Speaker 1: you really want you know a number two.
• 10:31
Speaker 3: We see it in politics. You know, if there was.
• 10:33
Speaker 1: Only one political branch, people would be pissed off. We
• 10:36
Speaker 1: have two and everybody's pissed off. If we had a
• 10:38
Speaker 1: third one to be even more chaos. But that chaos
• 10:40
Speaker 1: usually brings in results because somebody who wants to get
• 10:43
Speaker 1: at the top of that mountain.
• 10:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good thing for the industry as a whole.
• 10:47
Speaker 2: I mean, I lived in the world of professional wrestling
• 10:50
Speaker 2: when there was ECWWWWE and that was great for professional wrestling.
• 10:55
Speaker 2: When ECW and WW went away for twenty plus year,
• 11:00
Speaker 2: seventeen years, eighteen years, and WA was the lone survivor
• 11:04
Speaker 2: on mainstream television, you had TNA make a run at it.
• 11:07
Speaker 2: You had RoHS that was very niche. TNA, obviously, as
• 11:10
Speaker 2: I punted out, dropped off later on, and that made
• 11:14
Speaker 2: for bad programming. WWW did not have to change. WA
• 11:18
Speaker 2: did not feel challenged. They felt like whatever they did
• 11:21
Speaker 2: for their fans, the fans had no choice but to
• 11:23
Speaker 2: like it or leave it, and a lot of fans left,
• 11:27
Speaker 2: and of course a lot of fans like Doctor Trey
• 11:28
Speaker 2: and I stayed. So if you want professional wrestling to
• 11:31
Speaker 2: be successful, if you want to have fun on a
• 11:33
Speaker 2: mon Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday night, then you need
• 11:39
Speaker 2: this to happen. And I can't stress that enough. Like
• 11:42
Speaker 2: I said previously, predictions on this all Doctor Trey. I
• 11:46
Speaker 2: ultimately think this gets done. I think all ELA Wrestling
• 11:50
Speaker 2: remains on Warner Brothers Discovery Networks. I don't think the
• 11:54
Speaker 2: HBO Max move took place just randomly. I think there
• 11:59
Speaker 2: is some smoke to that at fire. However, I would
• 12:02
Speaker 2: be remiss if I didn't say that I am concerned
• 12:05
Speaker 2: about the NBA deal not going through because it could
• 12:08
Speaker 2: theoretically change strategies in an instance. Obviously HBO Max having
• 12:12
Speaker 2: it on you know, aw programming on that platform outside
• 12:16
Speaker 2: the US is not a slam dunk, but it is
• 12:19
Speaker 2: a good sign all pun intended. I would say ninety
• 12:23
Speaker 2: percent of me is sure that the deal gets done,
• 12:25
Speaker 2: and I would say ten percent of me thinks it doesn't.
• 12:29
Speaker 2: So it's not one hundred, it's not notin in a
• 12:31
Speaker 2: nine point nine. It's it's ninety percent in my mind
• 12:35
Speaker 2: gets done. But there is that inkling that has me concerned,
• 12:39
Speaker 2: and that is that that ten percent right now.
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you, I feel like it's a ninety
• 12:44
Speaker 1: percent done deal as well. I mean that it does
• 12:46
Speaker 1: feel like AW is like this is gonna be a
• 12:48
  Speaker 1: really bad analogy.
• 12:49
Speaker 3: Given this is, okay, a very non PC analogy.
• 12:53
Speaker 1: AW kind is like the fat girl that Warbus knows
• 12:57
Speaker 1: they can hook up with at any point they want to,
• 12:59
Speaker 1: but they're still looking at all these other things. Whether
• 13:02
Speaker 1: you know, you go back a few months ago there
• 13:03
Speaker 1: was the flirtations with WWE. You know, now you got
• 13:06
Speaker 1: the whole NBA thing. They just feel like AAW is
• 13:09
Speaker 1: always there because where else is AAW going to go
• 13:12
Speaker 1: and get this kind of exposure that they get from
• 13:14
Speaker 1: Warner Brother's Discovery. So it kind of feels like it's
• 13:17
Speaker 1: their fallback, it's their safe pick to go in and
• 13:20
Speaker 1: get the deal done. But they're gonna, you know, play
• 13:23
Speaker 1: the field and sow their wild oats dancing around to
• 13:26
Speaker 1: kind of figure out what works best.
• 13:27
Speaker 3: For the company as all.
• 13:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, that's what they have to do best.
• 13:31
Speaker 2: I think the little part of this that has me
• 13:35
Speaker 2: interesting interested on the entire process is the exclusive window
• 13:39
Speaker 2: Warner Brothers Discovery has on all of the wrestling negotiations.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: If that runs out and AW is free to talk
• 13:45
Speaker 2: to other companies. Will Tony Kahan's kind to still stay
• 13:48
Speaker 2: low loyal to Warner Brothers Discovery or will they shop
• 13:52
Speaker 2: it around to other networks. I think that is the
• 13:55
Speaker 2: window to keep an eye on. And I think that
• 13:58
Speaker 2: ends like mid August, maybe early September. So I think
• 14:01
Speaker 2: it's coming soon, Doctor Trey, And that to me is
• 14:05
Speaker 2: a very intriguing part of this entire negotiation process.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: Obviously, yeah, because what if Hulu decides they want to
• 14:12
Speaker 1: jump in and counterprogram what Netflix is doing and that
• 14:16
Speaker 1: window lapses all of a sudden, Hulu jumps in with
• 14:18
Speaker 1: a really big offer that then Warner person ends up
• 14:21
Speaker 1: fighting Hulu on two different fronts.
• 14:24
Speaker 3: When it comes to the NBA and AW, I mean there's.
• 14:26
  Speaker 4: There are there.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: AW will have options to go elsewhere, but we'll end
• 14:30
Speaker 1: up being like TNA, where you know, they go from
• 14:32
Speaker 1: Spike to you know, some random channel that not everybody has.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: I think with the streaming services that are out there,
• 14:39
Speaker 1: if if AW has a game plan for how to
• 14:41
Speaker 1: stream their content on certain platforms, they are an attractive
• 14:46
Speaker 1: entity to somebody else.
• 14:47
Speaker 3: I just it just kind of wonders, like, you know.
• 14:50
Speaker 1: How are these other streaming platforms going to one, a
• 14:52
Speaker 1: counter program ww going to Netflix.
• 14:56
Speaker 2: All right, keeping with all of wrestling, then television negotiations
• 15:01
Speaker 2: will be something we'll be keep an eye on here
• 15:03
Speaker 2: all summer long, and who knows, it could be something
• 15:05
Speaker 2: that ends next week based on some of the recent
• 15:07
Speaker 2: reports as well. One thing is for certain in my mind,
• 15:10
Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, And this is a longstanding debate in the
• 15:13
Speaker 2: history of SRTU when it comes to AW, and that
• 15:17
Speaker 2: being what is All the Wrestling's version of WrestleMania? And
• 15:22
Speaker 2: I feel like, as if you were what I'm noticing
• 15:24
Speaker 2: from watching at home, I think it's All in Wembley now.
• 15:27
Speaker 2: I think All In has become their WrestleMania. This is
• 15:31
Speaker 2: the most hyped, talked about, desirable show that the wrestlers
• 15:36
Speaker 2: want to be on in their promos and their matches
• 15:39
Speaker 2: and their creative thinking that we've seen. And I think,
• 15:44
Speaker 2: at least for me, Doctor Trey, unless you feel otherwise,
• 15:46
Speaker 2: I think the answer has been ratified. I think All
• 15:51
Speaker 2: in Wembley or wherever it ends up in the future,
• 15:54
Speaker 2: that is aw's WrestleMania. Do you agree or disagree with that?
• 15:57
Speaker 2: Based on the things that you've seen on programming lately.
• 16:00
Speaker 1: I will say, right now, I feel like it's their WrestleMania,
• 16:04
Speaker 1: but as we've seen in five years, it does kind
• 16:07
Speaker 1: of shift with the winds at times. I mean, you
• 16:10
Speaker 1: typically have the calendars more available than I do. How
• 16:14
Speaker 1: far back do they push all out from all In?
• 16:16
Speaker 1: Because last year is a week Like you can't do
• 16:19
Speaker 1: back to back things and have them one.
• 16:21
  Speaker 4: B year featured.
• 16:23
Speaker 1: You know, your your WrestleMania and then almost counter program
• 16:27
Speaker 1: your own WrestleMania week later.
• 16:28
Speaker 4: I think this year they pushed it out two or
• 16:30
  Speaker 4: three weeks.
• 16:31
Speaker 2: It's two weeks now two weeks.
• 16:33
Speaker 1: I still think like that's too close, Like it just
• 16:36
Speaker 1: doesn't give you enough time to digest what you just saw.
• 16:40
Speaker 1: But I do feel like based on the promotion and
• 16:43
Speaker 1: the match card and what we're hearing, all In is
• 16:47
Speaker 1: their WrestleMania. But in a couple of years, if it's
• 16:50
Speaker 1: not at Wembley Stadium, or it's not drawing seventy thousand people,
• 16:53
Speaker 1: do they shift it back to double or nothing or
• 16:56
Speaker 1: it just it doesn't I think they're still trying to
• 16:59
Speaker 1: figure it out out. But we know that cons have
• 17:02
Speaker 1: a long standing history with the city of London.
• 17:04
Speaker 4: We know how well all In did last year.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: I just you know, as a consumer of product, you're
• 17:11
Speaker 1: almost to stick another event so close to it, you're
• 17:16
Speaker 1: almost counter programming your own, you know.
• 17:20
  Speaker 4: Meal ticket.
• 17:20
Speaker 1: So to me, I think you need to separate all
• 17:23
Speaker 1: In and all Out and then that draws that definite
• 17:26
Speaker 1: line in the sand for you.
• 17:27
Speaker 2: Well, I think there's definitely two schools of thought here.
• 17:29
Speaker 2: I think one, I think we're in agreement that all
• 17:32
Speaker 2: In is feeling like Aw's WrestleMania. The second part that
• 17:36
Speaker 2: you're bringing up that is so true is one week out,
• 17:40
Speaker 2: two weeks out after a pay per view in general
• 17:43
Speaker 2: is not very good business. And I remember w W
• 17:45
Speaker 2: we did that with SummerSlam during the pandemic era with
• 17:51
Speaker 2: I think it was like fast Lane or something like
• 17:54
Speaker 2: that happened right after SummerSlam, and that was actually that start,
• 17:57
Speaker 2: the match that started Roman Range is run as World
• 17:59
Speaker 2: Champion Universal Champion from that point forward. Is when he
• 18:03
Speaker 2: like showed up in the Triple Threat, defeated Strowman and
• 18:05
Speaker 2: Bray Wyatt won the title and then held it for
• 18:07
Speaker 2: nearly four years. That was like a week later, and
• 18:11
Speaker 2: I want to say a couple of years ago and
• 18:13
Speaker 2: this may be the pandemic era as well, but I'm
• 18:16
Speaker 2: pretty sure they ran a WrestleMania backlash like two weeks
• 18:19
Speaker 2: or three weeks after WrestleMania, and I don't like that
• 18:22
Speaker 2: at all. I always feel like Doctor Trey that a
• 18:25
Speaker 2: pay per view should happen in between a paper view
• 18:28
Speaker 2: should happen in between one another at a minimum four weeks.
• 18:31
Speaker 2: Give me four weeks of programming, not two weeks, not
• 18:34
Speaker 2: one week, not even three weeks. You gotta let it
• 18:37
Speaker 2: breathe some And no matter what the show is, I
• 18:41
Speaker 2: am not a fan of something that is airing a
• 18:43
Speaker 2: week or two later from a major pay per view.
• 18:46
Speaker 1: Yeah. And typically, also, like when you have All In
• 18:48
Speaker 1: or WrestleMania, you have guys who are gonna be taking
• 18:50
Speaker 1: time off. You have guys that are going to get
• 18:53
Speaker 1: injured because somebody's gonna do something crazy.
• 18:54
  Speaker 4: It's for guys.
• 18:57
Speaker 3: I think it's all elite wrestling.
• 18:59
Speaker 1: You know somebody's gonna get so usually that's like your
• 19:01
Speaker 1: your stop start moment. So when you stop something to
• 19:05
Speaker 1: start the next angles, you want to give it some
• 19:07
Speaker 1: time to kind of get some depth to the storyline.
• 19:10
Speaker 1: And we're seeing AAEW do a much better job of
• 19:12
Speaker 1: this over the last two months, of actually fleshing out storylines,
• 19:16
Speaker 1: creating interest, creating some character depth. I just you know,
• 19:20
Speaker 1: when you see them back to back so quickly, it's
• 19:22
Speaker 1: hard to kind of stop one angle, start another, and
• 19:24
Speaker 1: then have a payoff match two weeks later because you
• 19:26
Speaker 1: don't have time to build that up. I mean, they're
• 19:29
Speaker 1: obviously you know, if you're WWE, you can kind of
• 19:31
Speaker 1: do it now because you're doing shorter you know, you're
• 19:33
Speaker 1: doing smaller cards, so you can kind of have a show,
• 19:36
Speaker 1: you know, out of pay per view here, come back
• 19:37
Speaker 1: with another one a few weeks later and have an
• 19:39
  Speaker 1: entirely different show.
• 19:41
Speaker 4: But aw, typically, you know, all this is.
• 19:43
Speaker 1: Probably gonna be fifteen matches in six hours long, so
• 19:45
Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure everybody's going to be on the show
• 19:47
Speaker 1: that wants to be on the show.
• 19:49
Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, keeping up here with all leid Wrestling, What
• 19:52
Speaker 2: did you think of Blooding Guts from last night's edition
• 19:54
  Speaker 2: and Dynamite?
• 19:55
Speaker 1: I thought it was a release solid show, Like is
• 19:58
Speaker 1: there a little bit stuff that may be a little
• 19:59
Speaker 1: bit over the top, like lighting a man on fire?
• 20:02
Speaker 1: How many people can get handcuffed in one match? A
• 20:04
Speaker 1: little over the top, but really really fun. I had
• 20:08
Speaker 1: friends of mine in attendance. They had a great time there.
• 20:11
  Speaker 1: I just I don't know if it's one of the
• 20:13
Speaker 1: better Blood and Guts matches, because there's still some ones
• 20:16
Speaker 1: from I think year one, other than the weird Jericho
• 20:19
Speaker 1: fall off the top. You know, some of the initial
• 20:23
Speaker 1: ones might have been able to better. But I thought
• 20:25
Speaker 1: it was a really really fun, entertaining blood and Guts show.
• 20:28
Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought the entire show is really good. Minora
• 20:30
Speaker 2: Suzuki Chris Jerico was a very fun match. The MJF
• 20:33
Speaker 2: well ost Spring segment to kick off the show was
• 20:36
Speaker 2: really well done. MJF is so much better as a
• 20:39
Speaker 2: heel than he ever will be at a baby face
• 20:42
Speaker 2: by far. The Blood and Guts match itself, I would
• 20:45
Speaker 2: say I enjoyed eighty percent of it. For still in
• 20:48
Speaker 2: the percentage range that we're thrown out there on this
• 20:49
Speaker 2: week's This of the podcast, I enjoyed eighty percent of it.
• 20:53
Speaker 2: I felt like there was some repetitive things that we've
• 20:55
Speaker 2: seen in previous Blood and Guts matches, and I felt
• 20:59
Speaker 2: the was anti climatic. In all honesty, I thought that
• 21:03
Speaker 2: it could have been a tad better the steel chair
• 21:06
Speaker 2: shot to Jack Perry from Mark Briscow has got a
• 21:09
Speaker 2: lot of buzz since it took place, because whether it
• 21:12
Speaker 2: was shaved down or not, people feel that you should
• 21:15
Speaker 2: not be getting smacked in the head with anything, which
• 21:18
Speaker 2: I am in agreement with. I would also say that
• 21:23
Speaker 2: it I have been a big stickler on their replays
• 21:29
Speaker 2: that they don't do in aw So Hangman Page and
• 21:33
Speaker 2: Swerve Strickland were taken out during the Picture and Picture
• 21:36
Speaker 2: commercial break stuff. And I don't know about you, Doctor Trey,
• 21:40
Speaker 2: but I don't sit around to watch, especially on a DVR.
• 21:43
Speaker 2: I don't sit around to watch the Picture and Picture,
• 21:46
Speaker 2: even if it's live. I get up, go to the bathroom,
• 21:48
Speaker 2: grab something to drink, eat whatever. I'm not watching Picture
• 21:51
Speaker 2: and Picture. How they don't come back and say and
• 21:55
Speaker 2: Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page just took each other out
• 21:57
Speaker 2: and then air that footage was beyond me. They said,
• 22:00
Speaker 2: EXCaliber mention it. So if you even mention, if you
• 22:03
Speaker 2: miss that live and walk back in and you're wondering
• 22:05
Speaker 2: where the hell'swerb of Strickland and Hangman Page was, you
• 22:08
Speaker 2: have no idea. But the finish just felt a little
• 22:11
Speaker 2: anti climatic. To me, I got to say they wanted
• 22:14
Speaker 2: Jack Perry to come off as defiant, they wanted the
• 22:16
Speaker 2: young Bucks to squeal a little bit, and I thought
• 22:21
Speaker 2: it could have been turned up a little bit more
• 22:24
Speaker 2: on both the execution of being rebellious from Jack Perry
• 22:30
Speaker 2: and turned up on the side of please don't do
• 22:33
Speaker 2: this to Jack Perry. We quit. So that's where I
• 22:35
Speaker 2: stood on the Blood and Guts match itself.
• 22:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, Like the finish, to me, I didn't like it because, ay,
• 22:40
Speaker 1: you have a heel, you have one hundred and sixty
• 22:43
Speaker 1: pounds heel trying to look to find that's a baby
• 22:47
Speaker 1: face move. And when you see the young Bucks basically
• 22:51
Speaker 1: kind of throwing in the towel to save their friend,
• 22:54
Speaker 1: that's kind of how babyfaces lose. I quit matches. It's
• 22:58
Speaker 1: to me, like lighting a man on fire. Threading to
• 23:00
Speaker 1: light a man on fire is kind of scrap me
• 23:03
Speaker 1: if I'm wrong. It's frowned upon in our Society's this
• 23:05
Speaker 1: kind of heel thing to do. So it's like the
• 23:09
Speaker 1: roles got reversed in the finish. So I don't know
• 23:13
Speaker 1: who produced that or whose idea that was, but to me,
• 23:17
Speaker 1: you know, like you have Jack Perry quit because I
• 23:20
Speaker 1: can look defiant. But then when you light the match, Okay,
• 23:23
  Speaker 1: I was kidding.
• 23:23
Speaker 4: I was kidding. Iqu wit we quit.
• 23:25
Speaker 1: We quit into it that way instead of I mean,
• 23:27
Speaker 1: go back to the I quit match with Edge and
• 23:30
Speaker 1: the judgment day with the you know the best Phoenix angle.
• 23:33
Speaker 1: That's a well written one where the baby face still
• 23:35
Speaker 1: looks strong, the heels look like.
• 23:37
Speaker 2: You know, a holes.
• 23:39
Speaker 1: This one you kind of flip the script and you
• 23:42
Speaker 1: make the baby faces look like assholes and the heels
• 23:45
  Speaker 1: look defiant. So I don't I don't really know what
• 23:47
Speaker 1: you're trying to accomplish with a finish like that.
• 23:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, again, eighty percent of that match was really well done.
• 23:53
Speaker 2: Some small things on the replay of what happened to
• 23:56
Speaker 2: Swerve and Hangman page why wasn't executed in the actual
• 23:59
Speaker 2: finish itself, which plays a major role in the match,
• 24:02
Speaker 2: was a tad anti climatic and maybe a touch rushed
• 24:05
Speaker 2: because they were on the overrun at that point on
• 24:08
Speaker 2: the TBS network. That's just something that I felt like,
• 24:11
Speaker 2: as if you were at home, that it felt anti
• 24:14
Speaker 2: climatic and potentially rushed, which is because why it was
• 24:17
Speaker 2: anti climatic, So I guess we'll never know unless something
• 24:20
Speaker 2: comes out in the Dirt sheets here in the coming
• 24:22
Speaker 2: days following the Blood and Guts match, Switching gears to
• 24:25
Speaker 2: WI some big news. Doctor Treys, a former WE champion,
• 24:29
Speaker 2: may be out of the on his way out of
• 24:31
Speaker 2: the company. That being one. Two time former w champion.
• 24:35
Speaker 2: Bobby Lashley Lastly was most recently on WE Television working
• 24:39
Speaker 2: with the Street Profits in bfab Is the Pride. They
• 24:41
Speaker 2: were fumed with the Final Testament going into WrestleMania, Lastly
• 24:44
Speaker 2: was taken off of TV, reportedly for an injury. He
• 24:47
Speaker 2: has not been back since. Along with him, the thought
• 24:49
Speaker 2: is that MVP Montel Vontavius Porter his contract will be
• 24:53
Speaker 2: running out as well. If there is a kind of
• 24:56
Speaker 2: a dark cloud black eye on the Triple H regime
• 24:59
Speaker 2: since ta and overcreative, I would say the one thing
• 25:01
Speaker 2: is he has not used MVP as well as he
• 25:04
Speaker 2: should have. MVP has been basically not used at all
• 25:07
Speaker 2: unless Omas makes his one or two appearances a year,
• 25:10
Speaker 2: and that is the only time when we see MVP,
• 25:13
Speaker 2: MVP and Bobby Lashley. All pun intended were MVPs of
• 25:17
Speaker 2: the pandemic era of professional wrestling in the WEE running
• 25:21
Speaker 2: hot there with the Hurt Business running his WE champion
• 25:23
Speaker 2: running is the top heel on the brand. Feud with
• 25:25
Speaker 2: Drew McIntyre along with Drew Mack, I felt like they
• 25:28
Speaker 2: really carried WWE during a very dark period of the
• 25:31
Speaker 2: world and professional wrestling as a whole. I don't want
• 25:34
Speaker 2: to see Bobby Lashley leave w I think that is
• 25:37
Speaker 2: where he is most valued in his career, will continue
• 25:41
Speaker 2: its assend and overall peak. And I also don't want
• 25:45
Speaker 2: to see MVP leave the company as well because I
• 25:48
Speaker 2: think again he could be utilized better. But that's the
• 25:51
Speaker 2: big news out of w right now. It appears that
• 25:53
Speaker 2: Bobby Lashley and MVP are on their way out of
• 25:56
Speaker 2: the company. It's possible that they may be reforming the
• 25:58
Speaker 2: Hurt Business during the in another promotion, whether it be TNA,
• 26:04
Speaker 2: whether it be aw MLW, what have you your thoughts
• 26:08
Speaker 2: as a former w champion may be on his way
• 26:10
Speaker 2: out of the company.
• 26:11
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 26:11
Speaker 1: The weird thing for me when it comes to Bobby
• 26:13
Speaker 1: Lashley is I really only liked Bobby Lashley once in
• 26:18
Speaker 1: his entire career, and that was when the Almighty Gimmick
• 26:22
  Speaker 1: started with MVP.
• 26:23
Speaker 4: It's the only time.
• 26:25
Speaker 1: I was like, this is Bobby Lashley at peak Bobby
• 26:29
Speaker 1: Lashley everything else. He's not the best talker in the world.
• 26:34
Speaker 1: He has a little bit of the Apollo Cruse smile
• 26:37
Speaker 1: at times it kind of comes off Tony. He's a
• 26:41
Speaker 1: wonderful h been being from everything I've I've heard, but really,
• 26:45
Speaker 1: in the what twenty years he's been around wrestling, I've
• 26:49
Speaker 1: only liked him one So it's not a big loss
• 26:53
Speaker 1: to me if they decide to let him go. The
• 26:55
Speaker 1: MVP thing like WWE does not value managers, so losing
• 27:01
Speaker 1: MVP on one hand, personally I think sucks because I
• 27:04
Speaker 1: think he's a great mouthpiece. The stuff he was, the
• 27:06
Speaker 1: work he did with Lastly and the Hert business was fantastic.
• 27:09
Speaker 1: The work he did early on with Omas was fantastic.
• 27:13
Speaker 1: So but it is kind of a black cloud that
• 27:17
Speaker 1: people were clamoring for a return of the Hert business.
• 27:21
Speaker 1: And basically, now if MVP and Lashley are out of
• 27:24
Speaker 1: the company, three fourths of the Hurt business is gone.
• 27:27
Speaker 4: The only one left is said, and he's.
• 27:29
Speaker 1: Done an NXC hanging out with Ashante Viadanas, who you know,
• 27:34
Speaker 1: hasn't really done anything since AJ Francis and Swerve left,
• 27:38
Speaker 1: So there you go.
• 27:39
Speaker 2: See. I was really enjoying Bobby Lashley in this role
• 27:43
Speaker 2: with the Pride, and specifically I felt like his character
• 27:46
Speaker 2: was a little bit more heelish, and they were certainly
• 27:49
Speaker 2: trying to push the heel motive there, but the fans
• 27:53
Speaker 2: like Bobby Lashley in the Street Profit so much that
• 27:55
Speaker 2: they had to keep them baby Face like that heel
• 27:58
Speaker 2: run where they were like taking out THEO and laying
• 28:01
Speaker 2: out Ray mysterio because he's the beloved Babyface lasted like
• 28:04
Speaker 2: maybe a month at best, and the fans were still
• 28:06
Speaker 2: cheering for them. It's funny that you say that you
• 28:09
Speaker 2: think Bobby Lashley leaving WWE is not a big loss
• 28:12
Speaker 2: for them. I'm of the opposite of this. But the
• 28:16
Speaker 2: more I think about it, the usage of MVP, and
• 28:19
Speaker 2: I guess, in a way, the potential usage of Bobby Lashley.
• 28:23
Speaker 2: I go back to two years ago when Triple H
• 28:25
Speaker 2: took over the books from after Vince had his retirement
• 28:29
Speaker 2: very briefly, and there were people who were excited that
• 28:33
Speaker 2: were Triple H people, and there are people who were
• 28:35
Speaker 2: not excited that were like Vince people. Do you think
• 28:39
Speaker 2: that MVP and Bobby Lashley were more people that fit
• 28:43
Speaker 2: Vince's ideology for creative than Triple H does, which is
• 28:49
Speaker 2: I guess true, but shocking If that is the case.
• 28:54
Speaker 1: I think Lashly is totally a Vince guy. I mean
• 28:58
Speaker 1: literally headlined to WrestleMania with lash Lee, you know, in
• 29:01
Speaker 1: Omaga and Vince and Trump. I mean every time Vince,
• 29:06
Speaker 1: everyone lashes in the company with Vince there, he got
• 29:09
Speaker 1: featured roles, like in a lot of ways he was
• 29:12
Speaker 1: going to be. At one point you met early on,
• 29:14
Speaker 1: he was supposed to be the African American John Cena.
• 29:17
Speaker 4: Well that's how Vince had visioned him.
• 29:19
Speaker 2: Can I pause you there for just a second. Yeah,
• 29:22
Speaker 2: you're making up a really good point. And the way
• 29:25
Speaker 2: Lashley left WUE left a bad taste in people's mouth,
• 29:29
Speaker 2: like he wasn't back in the company for what like
• 29:32
Speaker 2: ten years, eleven years?
• 29:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, No, It's one of those things where like and
• 29:37
Speaker 1: then when he came back, it was like.
• 29:40
Speaker 3: Right back into that upper card.
• 29:42
Speaker 4: Made a Vince spot.
• 29:43
Speaker 1: When Vince's there, and every time, you know, there's that
• 29:46
Speaker 1: time when Vince left, Triple Ace took over, it kind
• 29:49
Speaker 1: of slid back down the card a little bit, and
• 29:51
Speaker 1: then when Vince came kind of came back to that
• 29:53
  Speaker 1: brief little.
• 29:54
Speaker 4: Window, he was right back at the top.
• 29:56
Speaker 1: Of the cart. And I think there's two different visions
• 29:59
Speaker 1: for Lashly when it comes to a Vince kind of
• 30:02
  Speaker 1: saw and.
• 30:02
Speaker 4: What Triple A saw and Triple Ah.
• 30:04
Speaker 1: I think for him he looks for guys who can
• 30:07
Speaker 1: you talk the full more of the full package?
• 30:09
  Speaker 4: Can you talk?
• 30:09
Speaker 3: Can you cut a promo? Can you have good in
• 30:12
Speaker 3: ring work? Lash He's in ringwork.
• 30:13
Speaker 1: It is much better now than it was a decade ago,
• 30:16
Speaker 1: but he's just never caught up.
• 30:19
Speaker 4: His best promo work is when he's a heel.
• 30:21
Speaker 1: He doesn't come off as a very good good guy,
• 30:23
Speaker 1: and I think Triple As just looks at him as,
• 30:26
Speaker 1: you know, an upper mid card guy and just doesn't
• 30:30
Speaker 1: value him as much as maybe Vince did.
• 30:32
Speaker 2: So the reports are saying that MVP's contract I think
• 30:34
Speaker 2: expires mid August, and I think lastly maybe end of August,
• 30:39
Speaker 2: and there is this opening, there's this window a W two.
• 30:41
Speaker 2: We made an offer to Bobby Lashley. Bobby Lashley didn't
• 30:44
Speaker 2: like the offer. He wanted to go out to market
• 30:46
Speaker 2: and see if it would there's anything comparable or it
• 30:49
Speaker 2: could obviously beat the offer from WEE. So with that said,
• 30:53
Speaker 2: and things can change in the next thirty to forty
• 30:55
Speaker 2: five days come September one, Doctor Trey, Where do you
• 30:59
Speaker 2: think think Bobby Lashley and MVP are working for in
• 31:03
Speaker 2: the world of professional wrestling?
• 31:07
Speaker 1: I typically think Lashly will end up back in WWE.
• 31:11
Speaker 1: MVP's more of the toss up to me because he
• 31:14
Speaker 1: has ties in New Japan. If you have ties in
• 31:16
Speaker 1: New Japan, that gives you ties to AW. But it's
• 31:21
Speaker 1: just like, I think MVP might be better fit in
• 31:24
Speaker 1: AW because I do need more producers, more people that
• 31:27
Speaker 1: can kind of help streamline storelines.
• 31:29
Speaker 3: MVP has a relationship with Chris Jericho, although.
• 31:33
Speaker 4: It's been very bumpy. They've ironed things out as well.
• 31:36
Speaker 2: Have they ironed things out? I thought it was very bumpy.
• 31:40
Speaker 4: It was very bumpy.
• 31:41
Speaker 1: I think Jericho on his podcast came out and said,
• 31:44
Speaker 1: this has been maybe a year or so ago that
• 31:47
Speaker 1: they had a talk and kind of hashed some things out.
• 31:52
Speaker 1: But to me, MVP is a better New Japan voice AD.
• 31:58
Speaker 1: I just don't think ww' values outside Paul Hayman, they
• 32:01
Speaker 1: really don't use managers very well.
• 32:03
  Speaker 4: In WWE.
• 32:05
Speaker 2: I think lastly an MVP end up in TNA. I
• 32:09
Speaker 2: think that is a place that utilizes those skills, their
• 32:13
Speaker 2: skills better. I mean, MVP has been on the bench
• 32:16
Speaker 2: basically for two years. OMAS hasn't been used only except
• 32:20
Speaker 2: for like the Royal Rumble in an occasional match, which
• 32:23
Speaker 2: is that booking is like really bizarre and I'm not
• 32:26
Speaker 2: like this OMAS stand but for him to like completely disappear,
• 32:30
Speaker 2: it's like wow, like there's nothing for him there, just
• 32:34
Speaker 2: waiting out his contract. So I would like lastly an
• 32:39
Speaker 2: MVP to be in WE, but I think they ultimately
• 32:42
Speaker 2: end up in TNA because I think that is probably
• 32:44
Speaker 2: the place that utilizes their skills the best, and I
• 32:47
Speaker 2: don't think they end up in AW.
• 32:49
Speaker 1: Here's my question by the time these contracts expire is
• 32:52
Speaker 1: here's I bet to ask you this earlier and maybe
• 32:55
Speaker 1: a weeks past. With all this crossover with CNA and
• 32:58
Speaker 1: NXT and everything else, do you feel like there's some
• 33:01
  Speaker 1: kind of.
• 33:03
Speaker 4: Remember the wwec WW.
• 33:06
Speaker 1: Is like funneling some money in to ECW to use
• 33:10
Speaker 1: some of their guys.
• 33:10
Speaker 4: Do you feel like that might be kind of the
• 33:12
Speaker 4: same thing they're doing now with TNA.
• 33:13
Speaker 1: Because you know, it's the younger guys they're using, whether
• 33:17
Speaker 1: it's Joe, the Joe, Henry's, the Jordan Grace is, the rascals,
• 33:21
Speaker 1: people like that they're not using the Hardys, the Mooses,
• 33:25
Speaker 1: the nick name us those guys. I wonder if there
• 33:28
Speaker 1: is some kind of money filtering thing going back and
• 33:31
Speaker 1: forth to what this working relationship actually works out, because
• 33:34
Speaker 1: otherwise it's like if you're TNA, like, why aren't you
• 33:36
Speaker 1: using our top guys?
• 33:36
Speaker 4: Why are you using the middle guys?
• 33:39
Speaker 1: It's just if you go to TNA, if you're lastly,
• 33:42
Speaker 1: are you really going to TNA or are you going
• 33:43
Speaker 1: to like now a WW subsidiary?
• 33:47
Speaker 2: I hear you. And I think in like twenty years ago,
• 33:51
Speaker 2: when it wasn't a publicly traded company, that we could
• 33:53
Speaker 2: sit there and have those conspiracy theories of like this
• 33:55
Speaker 2: is another situation in ECW, but being that they are
• 33:58
Speaker 2: publicly traded, I mean, I think those are things that
• 34:01
Speaker 2: they would have to show up on their on their sheets, right, I.
• 34:07
Speaker 1: Mean there are ways of kind of hiding things as
• 34:09
  Speaker 1: like marketing expenses.
• 34:11
Speaker 2: Oh of course, there's a way to hide things in budgets. Yeah,
• 34:15
Speaker 2: I just feel like that maybe it would be a
• 34:17
Speaker 2: little bit more known. I thought, which we discussed like
• 34:20
  Speaker 2: a month ago, I really thought w W was on
• 34:23
Speaker 2: the verge of purchasing TNA Wrestling.
• 34:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I still I'd love it to happen,
• 34:28
Speaker 1: because it still it was still one of my bull
• 34:29
Speaker 1: predictions that you kind of chuckle that line in December
• 34:33
Speaker 1: is like, oh crap, it's who we're eight months in.
• 34:36
Speaker 1: It's actually really close to fruition if that's the route
• 34:38
  Speaker 1: to go.
• 34:39
Speaker 2: So yeah, the the TNA NXT w WI relationship is
• 34:43
Speaker 2: really interesting because they're just using Joe Hendry. They're just
• 34:46
Speaker 2: they've used Kaz, They've used the Rascals obviously. That's very
• 34:51
Speaker 2: poignant on who NXT is utilizing and then and vice versa,
• 34:55
Speaker 2: like TNA's had no quart to catch crew. They had
• 34:58
Speaker 2: Wesley working with the Rascal at Slammiversary. I think is
• 35:03
Speaker 2: he Dame was in there? Oh god, who's the character
• 35:09
Speaker 2: that was chasing round Libra Valkyrie for a while now
• 35:11
Speaker 2: is chasing Kalanie Jordan. She's great. Oh her name escapes me.
• 35:16
Speaker 2: She's actually engaged to hoveyar Bro now. Because I'm not
• 35:20
Speaker 2: getting enough sleep. Tatum Pasley, Yes, she's phenomenal. I really
• 35:25
Speaker 2: enjoy her stuff. She was working there. Obviously, Jordan Grace
• 35:30
Speaker 2: Ashby Elegance also known as Daniel Brook made appearances or
• 35:34
Speaker 2: work w W. That whole relationship is interesting, and I
• 35:41
  Speaker 2: don't know, I don't know if w W is giving
• 35:44
Speaker 2: them money, and I just feel like w W has
• 35:47
Speaker 2: has isolated who they want to sign should their contracts
• 35:51
Speaker 2: come up, and TEENA is like, yeah, no, I mean,
• 35:54
Speaker 2: if you want to sign these guys when their contracts over, great,
• 35:57
Speaker 2: but in the meantime, like, let's let's use this for
• 35:59
Speaker 2: our publicity, which I think TNA's had a lot of
• 36:02
Speaker 2: great buzz because of NXC, more buzz than anything that
• 36:05
Speaker 2: I ever saw when they were working with AAW. Granted
• 36:08
Speaker 2: that was the pandemic era, but I mean I watched
• 36:12
Speaker 2: highlights and clips from Stammiversary. That crowd was red hot,
• 36:15
Speaker 2: and maybe it was red hot previously Doctor Trey. I'm
• 36:18
Speaker 2: not watching TNA on a regular basis, but I look
• 36:20
Speaker 2: at that and I go, are people getting really excited
• 36:22
Speaker 2: about TNA because of the stuff that they're doing with NXC,
• 36:24
  Speaker 2: and we as.
• 36:25
  Speaker 1: Well, Yeah, I think it's it's a really interesting dynamic
• 36:30
Speaker 1: and how this is working out because it does feel
• 36:32
  Speaker 1: like I don't know if I like I look at
• 36:34
Speaker 1: who each show is using, and I'm like a lot
• 36:37
Speaker 1: of the WW like the people that are working from TNA,
• 36:40
Speaker 1: that are working NXC are very much sports entertainers, where
• 36:45
Speaker 1: TNA is using much more of the traditional wrestlers.
• 36:49
Speaker 4: In a sense what it is kind of genering cross ropers.
• 36:53
Speaker 1: I literally saw a video today of Dorlan's things running
• 36:56
Speaker 1: back Jamal Williams singing the Joe Henry song at the
• 37:00
Speaker 1: start A training camp. So there is buzz out there
• 37:03
Speaker 1: about today because of this carouser of the NXC, and
• 37:06
Speaker 1: it's allowing, you know, people to get an eye on
• 37:09
Speaker 1: the product. So once again, if they're putting it in
• 37:12
Speaker 1: as a marketing budget, it's a marketing expense. Maybe they
• 37:16
Speaker 1: are they're a little money crossing lines here.
• 37:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's intriguing. It's intriguing stuff that's going on there.
• 37:24
Speaker 2: And it's very funny how we naturally like got there
• 37:27
Speaker 2: talking about Bobby Lashley stuff. So who knows, we'll see
• 37:30
Speaker 2: what's going on with Bobby Lashley. I was very shocked
• 37:32
Speaker 2: to hear that he may be on his way out
• 37:34
Speaker 2: of Dodoo we MVP not so much. I think they
• 37:37
Speaker 2: missed the boat the last two years of MVP. They
• 37:39
Speaker 2: should have been utilizing him. And I think Bobby Lashley
• 37:42
Speaker 2: has been utilized well under the Triple Ah regime, but
• 37:45
Speaker 2: maybe not to the degree or extent that Bobby Lashley
• 37:48
Speaker 2: was hoping for when he was working under Vinsic Man previously.
• 37:53
Speaker 2: The last thing I want to bring up here, Doctor Trey,
• 37:56
Speaker 2: and I hate to sound like repetitive here a broken
• 37:59
Speaker 2: record each week, but it's a very positive broken record.
• 38:03
Speaker 2: At the end of Blood and Guts last night, watching
• 38:06
Speaker 2: wrestling this past week, all I could think about to
• 38:09
Speaker 2: myself is, like, the last four to five weeks, wrestling
• 38:12
Speaker 2: as a whole has been completely on fire. Everything in
• 38:17
Speaker 2: we has been really entertaining. Aw has been very entertaining.
• 38:21
Speaker 2: The stuff with TNA is working out really really well.
• 38:25
Speaker 2: What are some of your favorite things in wrestling right now?
• 38:28
Speaker 2: Like you look back at this last month, what are
• 38:31
Speaker 2: some of your favorite things? And do you agree with
• 38:33
Speaker 2: me that wrestling as a whole is on fire lately?
• 38:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, wrestling's been really result.
• 38:39
Speaker 1: I I saw some comment there yesterday about the NXT show,
• 38:43
Speaker 1: like how good was NXT and it didn't have Oba
• 38:46
Speaker 1: Feme Roxane Perez and there was somebody else they had mentioned.
• 38:51
Speaker 4: I was like, damn, that's if you can put on
• 38:53
Speaker 4: a hell of a show and not.
• 38:55
Speaker 1: Have those three on it, that's a damn show to me,
• 38:59
Speaker 1: Like a ross, you know, the three shows Like right now,
• 39:02
Speaker 1: I mean I just mentioned Joe Henry is so much
• 39:04
Speaker 1: fun to watch, Like, this whole thing right now, no
• 39:07
Speaker 1: matter if it's on DNA, if it's on NXC.
• 39:10
Speaker 3: Is really fun and it's really catchy, you know me.
• 39:15
Speaker 1: Personally, also seeing the Rascals show up an NXC, like
• 39:18
Speaker 1: I know how much that meant to those guys, Like
• 39:21
Speaker 1: for Zach and Trade to show up on NXT to
• 39:24
Speaker 1: work there and be back with Wes.
• 39:27
  Speaker 4: The stuff with.
• 39:28
Speaker 1: Sammy, Helia and Braun, I've been enjoying that. The the
• 39:33
Speaker 1: stuff with the New bloodline's been really good. This whole
• 39:36
Speaker 1: thing where they're just gonna take out anybody that Cody
• 39:39
Speaker 1: Road associates with is an.
• 39:41
Speaker 4: Interesting take leading into SummerSlam.
• 39:43
Speaker 1: Becaues that mean Roman shows up to back Cody at SummerSlam,
• 39:48
Speaker 1: Like is that where we go with this? Seeing the
• 39:51
Speaker 1: stuff with you know, the Live Rhea jay Usso or
• 39:56
  Speaker 1: dom stuff.
• 39:56
Speaker 4: All that stuff's been really good. AW.
• 39:59
Speaker 1: This stuff like the Learning Tree and the stuff with
• 40:02
Speaker 1: I mean, we had to see Minora. We've got to
• 40:03
Speaker 1: see Shabbat or Shabbata come out and say Menora stooky
• 40:07
Speaker 1: the other night. Like that's you know for New Japan
• 40:12
Speaker 1: fans and and those diehard fans, like that's dream scenario stuff.
• 40:17
Speaker 1: MJF and osprays bit is gonna be good. You know,
• 40:20
Speaker 1: MJF going to use the trash can to dump the
• 40:22
Speaker 1: international title the other night and pull out the American title. Uh,
• 40:27
Speaker 1: it's a little bit trumpish in a way, I thought, Uh, Like.
• 40:32
Speaker 4: It's just been so good across all the stuff.
• 40:34
Speaker 1: I mean, Punk McIntyre Rawlins has been really really good
• 40:37
Speaker 1: and entertaining, like there's and it's just.
• 40:40
Speaker 4: Across even the stuff with you know Gable and the
• 40:43
  Speaker 4: White Gable.
• 40:44
Speaker 1: And the Creeds and the Ya six, but then filtering
• 40:46
Speaker 1: into the stuff with Otis and Tazow and you know,
• 40:49
Speaker 1: Xavier Woods and New in the Final Testament. Like the
• 40:52
Speaker 1: way they're intermingling stories and connecting things has been good
• 40:57
Speaker 1: across all boards. And you know, AW has been on
• 41:00
Speaker 1: like with their storytelling right now, has.
• 41:02
  Speaker 4: Been top notch.
• 41:04
Speaker 1: A couple of you know, questionable booking decisions during the matches,
• 41:08
Speaker 1: but I mean Mercedes Monette has back up now and
• 41:13
Speaker 1: Camille you know against Britt Baker, Like that's gonna be
• 41:16
Speaker 1: interesting to see how that plays out. Like it's just
• 41:19
Speaker 1: been really, really good. It's I think to me, like
• 41:23
Speaker 1: right now a lot of it is filtering out from
• 41:27
Speaker 1: what the rock was here and then honestly, that Joe
• 41:29
Speaker 1: Henry stuff has been has been kind of catching fires,
• 41:32
Speaker 1: so it's kind of hard to discount him as well.
• 41:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's insane what's going on professional Rattler right now.
• 41:38
Speaker 2: It's been so much fun. And I feel like each promotion,
• 41:41
Speaker 2: going back to the original discussion at the top of
• 41:43
Speaker 2: the podcast with the Warner Brothers Discovery discussions and the
• 41:47
Speaker 2: TV deals and stuff like that, we need to be
• 41:49
Speaker 2: rooting as a collective, whether your TEAMMAW or if you're
• 41:52
Speaker 2: an enemy of AW for some reason, like we all
• 41:55
Speaker 2: should be rooting for them to get a good deal
• 41:57
Speaker 2: because they're feeding off one another right now, and that's
• 42:00
Speaker 2: what we need in professional wrestling. And it's been so
• 42:02
Speaker 2: much fun. The Bloodline saga heating up under Solosicoa's regime
• 42:07
Speaker 2: on SmackDown. I'm thoroughly enjoying the La Night Logan Paul build.
• 42:12
Speaker 2: I'm thoroughly enjoying the tag team title picture while rather
• 42:17
Speaker 2: small right now on SmackDown with diy and a Town
• 42:20
Speaker 2: down Under. I'm enjoying the main event picture in the
• 42:24
Speaker 2: men's division on Raw. Maybe my favorite thing in all
• 42:27
Speaker 2: professional wrestling right now because it is going so many
• 42:30
Speaker 2: different directions in so many different ways that I have
• 42:33
Speaker 2: no idea how it's going to pan out. Within a
• 42:36
Speaker 2: couple of weeks. Damian Priest is now getting baby face reactions.
• 42:39
Speaker 2: The match with gun Through, where on paper it looks
• 42:42
Speaker 2: like two heels going at it, is being built really
• 42:45
Speaker 2: really well. That segment to open up Raw on Monday
• 42:48
Speaker 2: was awesome. It showed that they hate each other, and
• 42:51
Speaker 2: Guntherro is making Damian Priest, who was like this hated heel,
• 42:56
Speaker 2: look very relatable to the i'm A wrestling fans calling
• 43:01
Speaker 2: him like trailer park trash for working his way up
• 43:04
Speaker 2: from the bottom to the top and you know, having
• 43:07
Speaker 2: a dream of becoming we champion, which wasn't gun Thro's
• 43:11
Speaker 2: dream for some reason, is really well done. The Drew
• 43:14
Speaker 2: McIntyre Cmpunk Seth Rollins match at Summerstam. I'm really looking
• 43:17
Speaker 2: forward to because the old school wrestling fan and me
• 43:20
Speaker 2: immediately thinks of Summerstam ninety seven where it was Sean
• 43:24
Speaker 2: Undertaker and Brett Brett versus Taker, Sean working as the
• 43:27
Speaker 2: special guest referee, and that was a lot of fun.
• 43:31
Speaker 2: That was old school to me. That was like stuff
• 43:33
Speaker 2: that I really love seeing. NXT has been hitting a
• 43:37
Speaker 2: really good solid strike right now. There was a period
• 43:39
Speaker 2: of time where that was a show that you could
• 43:41
Speaker 2: probably miss from the w side of things, and it's
• 43:44
Speaker 2: not lately like they are going back to their roots
• 43:47
Speaker 2: and that's a lot of fun. Brooks Jensen Josh Briggs
• 43:50
Speaker 2: had a very fun match on NXC this past week.
• 43:53
Speaker 2: That storyline has been a lot of fun. Aw's overall
• 43:57
Speaker 2: build to All In is exactly what I've been looking
• 44:00
Speaker 2: for as a fan of professional wrestling with AW the
• 44:03
Speaker 2: last couple of years is give me a great build
• 44:06
Speaker 2: to a good show, and I'm in it. I want
• 44:09
Speaker 2: to watch it. I don't care if there's eleven or
• 44:11
Speaker 2: fifteen matches whatever Tony Kahin wants to put out there.
• 44:14
Speaker 2: You've got to make me want to understand why wrestler
• 44:17
Speaker 2: A is fighting wrestler B. And they're doing that right now.
• 44:20
Speaker 2: Top to bottom everything between has been so much fun.
• 44:25
  Speaker 2: And I don't know, man, I don't remember a time
• 44:32
Speaker 2: in the history of the podcast where wrestling is firing
• 44:36
Speaker 2: on this many cylinders Right now. It's really exciting. It's
• 44:40
Speaker 2: a lot of fun. And I don't want to call
• 44:45
Speaker 2: it an attitude era, esk A golden era, because we've
• 44:48
Speaker 2: been down there that passed so many times, Doctor Trey.
• 44:51
Speaker 2: But I think this time period what we're seeing here
• 44:54
Speaker 2: maybe like from two thousand and two or twenty twenty two,
• 44:57
Speaker 2: excuse me to now. It may be part of this
• 45:01
Speaker 2: error of professional wrestling that has been so good. Obviously,
• 45:03
Speaker 2: there's been some bumps in the road with AW, there's
• 45:06
Speaker 2: been bumps in the road with w WE previously as well.
• 45:09
Speaker 2: TNA is really performing well. There's some exciting stuff going on,
• 45:14
Speaker 2: at least in the short term. In the last like
• 45:16
Speaker 2: four to six weeks, every time I've watched a wrestling show,
• 45:20
Speaker 2: for the most part, minus like rampage and parts of collision,
• 45:23
Speaker 2: No disrespect to AW, We're not there yet, but we're
• 45:26
Speaker 2: getting there. I'm like this is great, This is a
• 45:29
Speaker 2: ton of fun, and this is what I'm looking for
• 45:31
Speaker 2: in a professional wrestling fan. And I think it's because
• 45:33
Speaker 2: all the promotions WWE, AW TNA that're all feeding off
• 45:38
Speaker 2: of one another right now here in the United States.
• 45:42
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's a little bit of it.
• 45:43
Speaker 1: To kind of relate it, it would be like, you know,
• 45:45
Speaker 1: kind of like back in the day when you.
• 45:46
Speaker 4: Had the Sopranos and then breaking badly.
• 45:49
Speaker 1: You know those kind of shows where it's like, yeah,
• 45:51
Speaker 1: they're their own separate empties, but they're still kind of
• 45:53
Speaker 1: pushing each other, like.
• 45:54
Speaker 4: You know, competing for ratings and things like that.
• 45:57
Speaker 1: It's also a little bit like you know in pro sports,
• 45:59
Speaker 1: like you know, Jeff the Yankees fan, when the Yankees
• 46:01
Speaker 1: and the Red Sox are both doing well and they
• 46:04
Speaker 1: push each other, and next thing you know, it's like, well,
• 46:07
Speaker 1: the Yankees are in first, the rest Socks are in second,
• 46:09
Speaker 1: and there's a twenty game difference between second place and
• 46:12
Speaker 1: third place. Like it's iron sharpens iron. These guys are
• 46:16
Speaker 1: just feeding off each other. But it's making everybody show.
• 46:18
  Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's making TNA be better, it's making
• 46:20
  Speaker 1: MLW be better.
• 46:22
Speaker 4: I mean Jacob Faughto.
• 46:24
Speaker 1: His stuff he's doing on SmackDown is making people go
• 46:26
Speaker 1: back and watch MLW stuff, you know, the Joe Henry stuff,
• 46:30
Speaker 1: the Rascal stuff in the next seen is making people
• 46:32
  Speaker 1: go watch TNA.
• 46:33
Speaker 4: You know, people go watch TNA and.
• 46:35
Speaker 1: They're like, oh, let me go check out CZW or
• 46:37
Speaker 1: checkout Game Changer, you know, or or Wrestling Revolver one
• 46:41
Speaker 1: of these other shows that you know are affiliated because
• 46:44
Speaker 1: of the way that some of these other undersung you know,
• 46:46
Speaker 1: rests are being portrayed. It's it's feeding the frenzy that
• 46:51
Speaker 1: is kind of coming up, and you're seeing it now.
• 46:52
Speaker 1: When you start seeing that crossover into mainstream, when you're
• 46:56
Speaker 1: seeing NFL running back singing the Joe Henry song, when
• 47:00
Speaker 1: you're seeing the T shirts pop up, when you're starting
• 47:02
Speaker 1: to see the musicians get involved, that's when we start
• 47:06
Speaker 1: getting into that Attitude era type stuff.
• 47:08
Speaker 4: Because that's what made.
• 47:09
Speaker 1: It more mainstream, is when it had that crossover appeal
• 47:14
Speaker 1: and people didn't have to hide under a bush to
• 47:17
Speaker 1: tell you how much they believe in Joe Hendry. You know,
• 47:20
Speaker 1: it's out there in the open and everybody's like, oh,
• 47:22
Speaker 1: what's that. I gotta go check that guy out, or
• 47:24
Speaker 1: I gotta check these guys out, or what seem punks
• 47:26
Speaker 1: back in wbe's you and Drew McIntyre and sets wearing
• 47:30
Speaker 1: these outrageous outfits and there's gonna be a summer sliming.
• 47:32
Speaker 4: I gotta check this stuff out.
• 47:33
Speaker 1: It's what causes that environment to kind of swell up
• 47:36
Speaker 1: and make everybody take notice.
• 47:38
Speaker 2: So doctor try and let's let's give a little bit
• 47:41
Speaker 2: of a preview here. So on next week's podcast, we
• 47:43
Speaker 2: will preview and predict w SummerSlam, the former biggest party
• 47:47
Speaker 2: of the summer. I don't know if they're calling that
• 47:49
Speaker 2: that anymore. You mentioned before the bloodline saga, Roman Reigns,
• 47:54
Speaker 2: the Cody road stuff. Give us a little bit of
• 47:57
Speaker 2: a teaser right now? Are you and I talking about
• 47:59
Speaker 2: next week? Us thinking whether or not Roman Reigns makes
• 48:02
Speaker 2: his return in Cleveland, Ohio?
• 48:05
  Speaker 4: Uh, I think it's yeah.
• 48:10
Speaker 1: I think I think we see Roman as SummerSlam in
• 48:14
Speaker 1: some way, shape or form.
• 48:15
Speaker 2: I agree with you right now.
• 48:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if he does get involved in
• 48:20
Speaker 1: the match or but I guess he's solow like backstage
• 48:24
Speaker 1: and then a big truck, a big black suv rolls up,
• 48:28
Speaker 1: the window rolls down, and there's Roman, and that kind
• 48:31
Speaker 1: of shakes him for the main event, wondering if he's
• 48:33
  Speaker 1: getting involved or or that goes. I don't I don't
• 48:37
Speaker 1: want to put say that he's gonna get involved in
• 48:39
Speaker 1: the match, but I do think Roman makes an appearance
• 48:41
Speaker 1: as some way, shape or form as SummerSlam.
• 48:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's something that results in a in
• 48:46
Speaker 2: a historic pop. I think when he comes back, it
• 48:51
Speaker 2: has to be in a major setting and stadium. And
• 48:56
Speaker 2: the only thing on the calendar right now from now
• 48:58
Speaker 2: until the end of the year is Cleveland, Ohio. I mean,
• 49:02
Speaker 2: that place will go absolute ape shit when his music hits,
• 49:07
Speaker 2: like they are waiting for him to come back and
• 49:09
Speaker 2: they want him to come back, which is just wild
• 49:11
Speaker 2: because he was one of the biggest deals in wrestling
• 49:13
Speaker 2: four months ago. But people are ready and it's gonna
• 49:17
Speaker 2: be really telling who main events Summer Slam in a
• 49:22
Speaker 2: couple of weeks or next Sunday.
• 49:24
Speaker 1: I think Cody and Solo main event. I think I
• 49:27
Speaker 1: think Roman makes the save of Cody. I think Cody wins,
• 49:31
Speaker 1: and I'm giving away by prediction. I think Cody wins
• 49:33
Speaker 1: the match. There's a Bloodline beat down, and then Roman's
• 49:36
Speaker 1: music hits and just gets that massive pop, strolls down
• 49:41
Speaker 1: to the ring and the Bloodline just kind of scatters,
• 49:43
Speaker 1: and there's Cody and Roman standing in the ring face
• 49:45
Speaker 1: to face to end the show.
• 49:46
Speaker 2: Well, that is where we will end this week's edition
• 49:48
Speaker 2: of the podcast with a little bit of a teaser
