- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flaff to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off a one
- 0:10Speaker 2: tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty five
- 0:13Speaker 2: yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the goal line, he throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the end zone touchdown.
- 0:19Speaker 3: See Hawks.
- 0:20Speaker 4: It's Michael Bumps with a diving catching the end zone
- 0:23Speaker 4: on ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
- 0:27Speaker 4: out of Washington State has found himself a place.
- 0:30Speaker 5: On this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, NASA Jobie.
- 0:35Speaker 5: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:37Speaker 6: The Seahawks fall to the Pittsburgh Steelers thirty two twenty
- 0:40Speaker 6: three at home in Looingfield last Sunday. The Seahawks now
- 0:43Speaker 6: do not control their own destiny. Who comes to the playoffs.
- 0:46Speaker 6: With the playoffs are still alive. They can get there
- 0:48Speaker 6: by winning in Arizona and having the Packers lose to
- 0:51Speaker 6: the Bears this weekend, similar to how twenty twenty two
- 0:55Speaker 6: season ended. But let's jump right into that Steelers matchup,
- 0:58Speaker 6: and let's talk to a guy that knows a little
- 1:00Speaker 6: bit about a lot of bit up from Big Ray
- 1:03Speaker 6: Roberts in the trenches.
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawks
- 1:10Speaker 1: Ray Roberts.
- 1:12Speaker 5: Big Ray Man.
- 1:13Speaker 6: It was disappointing obviously for the Seahawks coming into the game,
- 1:16Speaker 6: controlling your own destiny and then not having it pan
- 1:19Speaker 6: out when you looked at the film, when you sat
- 1:21Speaker 6: there in the stands, you watch it all. What was
- 1:23Speaker 6: the number one thing that stood out to you with
- 1:25Speaker 6: the Seahawks performance on Sunday.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Uh, Probably the number one thing to me is that.
- 1:30Speaker 3: And you know, I'm sure the Seahawks and the Fantas
- 1:34Speaker 3: don't want to hear it, but there's one thing to
- 1:36Speaker 3: talk about being a tough, physical team, and it's another
- 1:39Speaker 3: thing to actually be that team. And so, like you know,
- 1:42Speaker 3: a coach with Luke Currett when we're at analy and
- 1:45Speaker 3: not saying that we're like the world's greatest coaches, but
- 1:47Speaker 3: you always had to say and don't talk about it,
- 1:49Speaker 3: be about it and uh, and I feel like too
- 1:52Speaker 3: much this season the Seas have gotten caught up in
- 1:55Speaker 3: trying to figure out who the identity is and who
- 1:57Speaker 3: they're going to show up as and then and the
- 2:00Speaker 3: and the moments they need to show up as the
- 2:01Speaker 3: people they think they are. The other team does it
- 2:05Speaker 3: better than they do. And so when you look at
- 2:07Speaker 3: the trenches, then the Steelers offensive line just really dominated
- 2:12Speaker 3: the trenches. And it was a combination of that and
- 2:14Speaker 3: the way the dudes ran the ball. They ran the
- 2:17Speaker 3: ball as if they knew that they were going to
- 2:19Speaker 3: run through tackles, they knew they were going to break tackles,
- 2:21Speaker 3: they knew that this team is not the best tackling
- 2:24Speaker 3: team in the league, and they ran that way, and
- 2:27Speaker 3: it showed that way on defense, and then you know,
- 2:29Speaker 3: on offense, it just seems like just couldn't really get anything,
- 2:32Speaker 3: get anything going. Like the running game showed a little bit,
- 2:35Speaker 3: the passing game showed a little bit, we're in it
- 2:37Speaker 3: for a little while, and then they would kind of
- 2:39Speaker 3: extend the lead to control the ball with the running game.
- 2:41Speaker 3: So just a real tough way to kind of come
- 2:45Speaker 3: down to stretch here and when you really really need
- 2:48Speaker 3: those wins.
- 2:49Speaker 7: Ray, we saw Evan Brown lead the game with a concussion.
- 2:51Speaker 7: Abe also left the game. What did you see from
- 2:55Speaker 7: that offensive line before they went out and then after
- 2:57Speaker 7: they went.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Out well, I think they had a chance, as Mike
- 3:00Speaker 3: to run the ball well. Canaan had a couple of
- 3:03Speaker 3: good runs, but then the score kept getting away from him,
- 3:07Speaker 3: or or penalties or negative plays would kind of get.
- 3:10Speaker 1: In a way.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I think when you know, when everyoneent down and Olu
- 3:14Speaker 3: came in, I thought Olu played well. He had the
- 3:16Speaker 3: one tough snap on kind of like the trick play
- 3:19Speaker 3: that they tried to do backed up close to the
- 3:21Speaker 3: end zone, which to me, it was a second drive
- 3:23Speaker 3: in hasn't played in games and weeks and you kind
- 3:26Speaker 3: of throw a trick play snap kind of thing at him.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I think that was a little unfair for a friend
- 3:32Speaker 3: to be put in that situation. And I thought that
- 3:34Speaker 3: Stone Forsyths came in and did an okay job. You know,
- 3:36Speaker 3: they helped him out a lot. He was manned up
- 3:39Speaker 3: a few times, but I think for him being a backup,
- 3:43Speaker 3: he came in and did well. It's just that the
- 3:44Speaker 3: offense has never seemed to really click. And to me, Mike,
- 3:49Speaker 3: that's kind of how the whole team is. Like the
- 3:52Speaker 3: whole season, there's been spurts, so there's been moments in
- 3:55Speaker 3: games or a particular part of a game where there's
- 3:58Speaker 3: complimentary football, where the defense is kind complement in the offense,
- 4:00Speaker 3: where the pass rushes complimenting the pass defense, where the
- 4:04Speaker 3: linebacker field is complimenting the gap, control the what the
- 4:08Speaker 3: defensive line and running the ball, where the offensive line
- 4:11Speaker 3: is creating space for the for the running backs to
- 4:13Speaker 3: run and protecting gnos so you can push the ball
- 4:16Speaker 3: down a field. There's been very few times when all
- 4:18Speaker 3: of those teams have complimented each other. Not that every
- 4:21Speaker 3: team that wins does that on a consistent basis, but
- 4:24Speaker 3: for this team to win, they have to play that
- 4:26Speaker 3: way more times than not. They just haven't been able
- 4:28Speaker 3: to do that.
- 4:30Speaker 6: When you talk about the running game and playing complimentary football.
- 4:34Speaker 6: Ken was ten ten carries for fifty three yards. He
- 4:37Speaker 6: had a little banged up shoulder. Charmony did okay as well.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Why do you think, specifically when it comes to the
- 4:43Speaker 6: run game that the Seahawks haven't been able to get
- 4:46Speaker 6: over the hump?
- 4:46Speaker 5: They've been close.
- 4:47Speaker 6: You talked about in spurts during that Steelers game where
- 4:50Speaker 6: they Ken has a great run or Charbonny does something great,
- 4:52Speaker 6: but why can't they get over the hump?
- 4:54Speaker 3: You think in the run game, well, I think the
- 4:57Speaker 3: one thing that's hard is that you know, you think
- 4:59Speaker 3: about you know, Kenneth Walker is definitely a weapon. Charboneze
- 5:03Speaker 3: is a good piece to have. But you look at
- 5:05Speaker 3: the receiving corps. You have three really dynamic receivers, and
- 5:09Speaker 3: then you have a fourth and you know, Bobo has
- 5:11Speaker 3: his own little uniqueness to what he does, and then
- 5:13Speaker 3: you have three tight ends that can catch the ball
- 5:15Speaker 3: and be a threat. So it becomes hard I would
- 5:18Speaker 3: imagine as an offensive coordinator to go like, Okay, we're
- 5:21Speaker 3: going to like not necessarily turn our back on these
- 5:24Speaker 3: on that part of our team, but we're going to
- 5:26Speaker 3: focus on, you know, our one running back that is
- 5:28Speaker 3: that is really good and then and then maybe take
- 5:31Speaker 3: some froze out of the hands of some of these receivers.
- 5:33Speaker 3: So I think sometimes that's where where they kind of
- 5:37Speaker 3: slip up, because there's no reason why this offensive line,
- 5:42Speaker 3: even with the shuffling that they've had, when they are
- 5:44Speaker 3: on and they're able to run the ball and they're
- 5:46Speaker 3: getting up to the second level, uh, they run blocked
- 5:49Speaker 3: very very well, and they just haven't had a chance
- 5:51Speaker 3: to really do it because either the score gets out
- 5:55Speaker 3: of hand or like I said, the negative plays put
- 5:57Speaker 3: you in second and thirdy long and it's really hard
- 5:59Speaker 3: to they call running plays in that situation. But for
- 6:03Speaker 3: this offense to work at its best, it has to
- 6:06Speaker 3: have an efficient running game to go with the passing game.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And they just haven't been connected as well or word
- 6:12Speaker 3: I use back in the day, they haven't been married
- 6:15Speaker 3: very well this year on a consistent basis for the
- 6:18Speaker 3: offense to be deadly that way.
- 6:21Speaker 7: Big Gray, what did you think about Geno's performance? Two
- 6:24Speaker 7: hundred ninety yards through the air, thirty plus on the ground,
- 6:27Speaker 7: three hundred yards of total offense.
- 6:29Speaker 8: What are your thoughts there?
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I think Gino is like a lot
- 6:34Speaker 3: of people have said, he is who he is, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 3: and he's a type of guy where I think like
- 6:39Speaker 3: that type of game is kind of what he brings
- 6:41Speaker 3: to the table. Now, if you could have added like
- 6:43Speaker 3: another fifty or sixty yards from the running back group
- 6:47Speaker 3: rushing the ball, I think it would have made it.
- 6:49Speaker 3: It would have opened it up for a couple more throws,
- 6:51Speaker 3: you know, for a couple more deep balls for DK
- 6:55Speaker 3: maybe or Jackson Smith and Jig. But those numbers would
- 6:58Speaker 3: have been better. But I really do think in order
- 7:00Speaker 3: for Gino to be a quarterback that can carry the
- 7:03Speaker 3: team or be part of the team's success on offense, Man,
- 7:07Speaker 3: you got to have you have to have all three
- 7:09Speaker 3: of those phases work, and you got to have the
- 7:11Speaker 3: run game going, you got to have the passing game going,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and you have to have a quarterback this plan efficient football.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And so I think in this situation, I think you
- 7:18Speaker 3: had two of the three. So the running game didn't
- 7:20Speaker 3: quite make it, but the other two did, and so
- 7:23Speaker 3: that user means it's going to be a tight game
- 7:24Speaker 3: for the Seahawks.
- 7:27Speaker 8: Ray.
- 7:27Speaker 6: You know me, I try to speak things into existence.
- 7:30Speaker 6: I missed a positive part of my job. But here's
- 7:33Speaker 6: what I want. But going into this weekend Ray against Arizona,
- 7:37Speaker 6: the Seahawks can still get into the playoffs.
- 7:41Speaker 5: How can they rally? How do they make this happen?
- 7:43Speaker 6: What do you want to see against them versus team
- 7:45Speaker 6: who quite frankly just went down to Philadelphia and beat
- 7:48Speaker 6: a good Eagles team.
- 7:49Speaker 5: So what can see? What do you want to see
- 7:51Speaker 5: from the Seahawks this weekend so they can get in
- 7:52Speaker 5: the playoffs.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I said this a few weeks ago, but man, I
- 7:56Speaker 3: want to see a sense of urgency like or desperation
- 8:00Speaker 3: and almost and not desperation where you're out of control
- 8:02Speaker 3: and you're you're doing things, but like, uh, you know,
- 8:05Speaker 3: guys rallying to the tackle, Like there's not just one
- 8:07Speaker 3: dude or two dudes making the tackle, but there's four
- 8:09Speaker 3: or five guys making the tackle. When we're running the
- 8:12Speaker 3: ball and the running back is struggling for yards, I
- 8:14Speaker 3: want to see the offensive line pushing like everyone else pushes,
- 8:17Speaker 3: you know, like, because at this point, trying to establish
- 8:21Speaker 3: an identity is is just too late for that. It's
- 8:23Speaker 3: it's too late to say, hey we're going to establish
- 8:26Speaker 3: identity and be physical. It's too late to say hey
- 8:27Speaker 3: we're going to establish identity and be a run first team.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Right now, the only identity you have is win and
- 8:34Speaker 3: and so and that almost at almost any call. So
- 8:37Speaker 3: you have to be willing to few caution to the
- 8:39Speaker 3: win as a player and just go ball out to
- 8:42Speaker 3: get the win to give yourself a chance to get
- 8:44Speaker 3: to the playoffs. And so that sense of urgency, in
- 8:46Speaker 3: that sense of desperation. That was a run where Bobby
- 8:49Speaker 3: Wagner was being blocked and trying to make the tackle
- 8:52Speaker 3: at the same time on Naja Harris down near the
- 8:55Speaker 3: gold line, and the whole Pittsburgh Sealer offensive line was
- 8:59Speaker 3: pushing and I'm going to see all players were kind
- 9:01Speaker 3: of coming in trying to do but there was a
- 9:02Speaker 3: few of them that were kind of getting out of
- 9:04Speaker 3: the way to power. It's like, no, like hit the pal,
- 9:06Speaker 3: pill someone off the pal Like, I don't care if
- 9:08Speaker 3: you get a penalty picking them off the pow, but
- 9:10Speaker 3: don't let them win the physicality game. And then and
- 9:14Speaker 3: it seems like they're kind of, you know, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 3: packing your season up, you know, for this year by
- 9:20Speaker 3: being more physical and playing a little tougher than you
- 9:22Speaker 3: So that's what I want to see. It's not even
- 9:24Speaker 3: like about how many yards you throw for how many
- 9:27Speaker 3: times we rush the ball, or how many sacks we
- 9:29Speaker 3: get or how many turns we get. Man, play like
- 9:32Speaker 3: your life depends on getting this win. And then I
- 9:35Speaker 3: think that will help this team put themselves in a position.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Love to see it. Ray, That's exactly what we want
- 9:41Speaker 6: to see on Sunday. I'm fired up. I can't wait
- 9:42Speaker 6: to get there. So hopefully, you know, get in the
- 9:44Speaker 6: playoffs and keep this thing going in a nice little
- 9:47Speaker 6: family road trip down to Dallas.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Big Ray, We appreciate you. Thanks dropping on.
- 9:51Speaker 8: Thanks.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yeah, keep it up with at the manifestation there uh
- 9:54Speaker 3: NASA and we'll get this win and we'll be rolled
- 9:56Speaker 3: down in Dallas.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Yes, sir, thanks very talking to you. Soon get her
- 10:01Speaker 5: all right?
- 10:01Speaker 6: All right, that's a big great Ray Roberts giving us
- 10:04Speaker 6: a little knowledge on this Tuesday.
- 10:06Speaker 5: But let's get back into the game. What had happened?
- 10:08Speaker 5: See what happened at first?
- 10:10Speaker 1: What happened? What happened was what had happened was unhawked talk.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Well, not the game we expected to see bump coming
- 10:18Speaker 6: into this with the Steelers coming in the game with
- 10:21Speaker 6: Mason Rudolph as a backup quarterback and the season on
- 10:24Speaker 6: the line for both teams. On the opening possession, the
- 10:26Speaker 6: Steelers moved the ball a little bit, but the Seahawks
- 10:29Speaker 6: held strong, forced a turnover on downs after eight plays
- 10:31Speaker 6: thirty four yards when Riek Wohland broke up a pass
- 10:34Speaker 6: intended for George Pickens from Mason Rudolph on fourth and five.
- 10:38Speaker 6: So that was a good start to see defensively, you know,
- 10:40Speaker 6: especially after Pickens had such a big game the week before. Unfortunately,
- 10:44Speaker 6: the Seahawks would go three and out on their first
- 10:46Speaker 6: possession and didn't feel like they had the ball again
- 10:49Speaker 6: for a really long time. That's because the Steelers would
- 10:51Speaker 6: respond with a very impressive drive fourteen plays eighty yards,
- 10:56Speaker 6: ending with an eighteen yard touchdown run from Jalen Warren,
- 10:59Speaker 6: making the score seven zero.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Not to start you would hope for butup.
- 11:04Speaker 8: No, But then the Hawks will respond.
- 11:05Speaker 7: They put together a nice little drive seven plays, seventy
- 11:08Speaker 7: five yards. You got Ken Walker scoring from thirteen yards out.
- 11:11Speaker 7: That made the score seven to seven. Steelers would kick
- 11:13Speaker 7: a field go on the next possession, but the Hawks
- 11:15Speaker 7: will respawn again with another solid drive to one a
- 11:17Speaker 7: plays seventy five yards, twelve yard touchdown at Jason, You're
- 11:20Speaker 7: feeling good about this team. Round now the Hawks are
- 11:23Speaker 7: of fourteen to zero. Steelers they come right back. They
- 11:25Speaker 7: go seventy five yards anyway, a Najie Harris touchdown. Both
- 11:28Speaker 7: teams went in at halftime with the Steelers up seventeen
- 11:32Speaker 7: till fourteen.
- 11:34Speaker 8: Then what happened then?
- 11:36Speaker 6: Well, I was hoping for it come out of halftime
- 11:38Speaker 6: that the Seahawks were right there. They're executing offensively. They
- 11:41Speaker 6: scored on three of the four possessions they had, so
- 11:44Speaker 6: I was hoping for, you know, a really big dominant performance.
- 11:47Speaker 6: The Seahawks would move the ball in that opening possession,
- 11:49Speaker 6: but they would have to settle for a field goal
- 11:51Speaker 6: that type the score up. But again, the Steelers march
- 11:55Speaker 6: right down the field, going six plays seventy one yards
- 11:58Speaker 6: any with the Naje Hairs touchdown making to score twenty
- 12:00Speaker 6: four to seventeen. After a couple punts, both teams would
- 12:03Speaker 6: trade field goals and the Seahawks would get the ball
- 12:06Speaker 6: back down twenty seven. Twenty is kind of when you
- 12:09Speaker 6: feel like it was winning time for the Seahawks. We've
- 12:11Speaker 6: seen Geno Smith do it so many times this year. Unfortunately,
- 12:14Speaker 6: Gino on the first play was hit from behind and
- 12:16Speaker 6: funneled the ball with the Steelers recovering on the sixteen
- 12:19Speaker 6: yard line bump, and.
- 12:20Speaker 5: That kind of was also.
- 12:21Speaker 6: She wrote, the Seahawks try to make it interesting late,
- 12:23Speaker 6: we're not able to recover the on side kicking and
- 12:25Speaker 6: lost the game there.
- 12:27Speaker 7: Yeah, Man, Steelers outgained the Seahawks four hundred and sixty
- 12:30Speaker 7: eight yards to three hundred and sixty nine. They outrest
- 12:33Speaker 7: the Hawks twenty and two yards to eighty eight, and
- 12:35Speaker 7: they handled the time of possession thirty seven minutes to
- 12:39Speaker 7: twenty two. I'm very disappointed, man. You felt like you
- 12:43Speaker 7: just got pushed around out there. The Steelers came in
- 12:45Speaker 7: with a game plan, they executed it. The Hawks just
- 12:47Speaker 7: weren't able to connect an offensive and defensive possession together.
- 12:52Speaker 8: Late in the game.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Yeah, it's h Ray mentioned it.
- 12:56Speaker 6: It's about kind of all phases of the game playing together,
- 12:59Speaker 6: being married as one, and that's kind of been an
- 13:01Speaker 6: achilles shial for the Seahawks. When the Seahawks defense is
- 13:03Speaker 6: playing well, the offense is struggling to the ball and
- 13:05Speaker 6: kind of vice versas. So hopefully the Seahawks can get
- 13:07Speaker 6: that figured out this weekend in Arizona.
- 13:09Speaker 5: But there were some guys that made some plays. Playmakers, touchdown.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Playmakers.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Holy We'll start with Gino Smith and it was pretty encouraging.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Bump.
- 13:27Speaker 6: This is one of the best games I think he
- 13:28Speaker 6: played all season. Twenty three to thirty three, two and
- 13:31Speaker 6: ninety yards, two touchdowns or too me, one touchdown, three
- 13:35Speaker 6: carries for thirty three yards and for me, Bump, he
- 13:39Speaker 6: just moved so well in the pocket. There was a
- 13:40Speaker 6: couple of plays. There's one play there where the Seahawks
- 13:42Speaker 6: averted on a third down where TJ. Watt is in
- 13:45Speaker 6: the backfield. He slides us the side steps up and
- 13:48Speaker 6: just the way he was moving in the pocket handling
- 13:50Speaker 6: the football, I thought he played lights out football. I
- 13:53Speaker 6: thought this was one of his better games just from
- 13:55Speaker 6: not necessarily statistical standpoint, but just pocket presence and feel
- 13:58Speaker 6: and keeping the Seahawks in the game.
- 14:00Speaker 5: So hopefully he can continue that next week.
- 14:03Speaker 8: Yeah, he looked good.
- 14:03Speaker 7: Man also had a nice twenty five yard a run
- 14:06Speaker 7: Man from one side line to the other sideline. Put
- 14:08Speaker 7: on the burners. Yeah, I think Geno Smith paid played
- 14:11Speaker 7: well enough for this team to win. But like Big
- 14:12Speaker 7: Gray said, you needed some help. DK had five receptions
- 14:16Speaker 7: for one hundred and six yards. Now has back to
- 14:18Speaker 7: back a thousand yard seasons and his third overall. This
- 14:22Speaker 7: was the third time he went for over one hundred
- 14:24Speaker 7: yards any game this season. You mentioned Gino moving in
- 14:27Speaker 7: the pocket. There's a nice thirty four yard game he
- 14:29Speaker 7: found DK after for avoiding TJ Watt. Yeah, Man, DK
- 14:33Speaker 7: has been quietly ending the season on a high note. Man,
- 14:35Speaker 7: and that's what you expect from your number one receiver.
- 14:38Speaker 7: He's looking more comfortable catching the ball. He's mastered the slant.
- 14:42Speaker 7: DK once again puts a good game together.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Yeah, no question about.
- 14:45Speaker 6: DK has been absolutely clutched whenever the Seahawks have needed
- 14:48Speaker 6: to have a big play, a big catch all season long.
- 14:50Speaker 6: He's done it when it was the Commander's game, the
- 14:52Speaker 6: Eagles game, even down in LA, the game they lost.
- 14:55Speaker 6: DK has definitely been there in clutch moments. Staying on offense,
- 14:58Speaker 6: ken Walker ten Ca He's fifty three yards, one touchdown,
- 15:02Speaker 6: also three receptions for twenty two yards. He was playing well,
- 15:05Speaker 6: just didn't really get enough touches. That's kind of how
- 15:07Speaker 6: the game played out. And we've kind of seen that,
- 15:09Speaker 6: unfortunately happen a couple times this year. But I'm hoping
- 15:12Speaker 6: ken Walker, who did will get into this on our
- 15:14Speaker 6: preview podcast. But ken Walker's only gone over one hundred
- 15:17Speaker 6: yards in one game and that was against the Arizona
- 15:19Speaker 6: Cardinals and I believe Week seven, so hopefully see a
- 15:22Speaker 6: little bit more of that from him on Sunday.
- 15:26Speaker 7: YEP, Devin Bush had himself a day used to play
- 15:28Speaker 7: for the Steelers, got drafted tenth overall by these guys.
- 15:30Speaker 7: He had seventeen tackles, five soul and one TfL. Man
- 15:34Speaker 7: he played well, might not have won against the Steelers,
- 15:38Speaker 7: but his Michigan Wolverines are in the National Championship, so
- 15:42Speaker 7: I guess he's got something to smile about. But nice
- 15:44Speaker 7: seeing Devin Bush fill in for Jordan Brooks and I
- 15:47Speaker 7: make a whole bunch of players out there.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I can't imagine what that would be like playing
- 15:52Speaker 6: for a team that moved on from you. And he
- 15:54Speaker 6: played inspired. He was out there sticking his neck in there,
- 15:56Speaker 6: and seventeen tackles is a pretty nice stat line. It's
- 15:59Speaker 6: a career high for him to see there. And then
- 16:01Speaker 6: our guy Leo Man, he was very active on defense.
- 16:04Speaker 6: Six tackles, three solo, one sack, one TfL, two QB hits.
- 16:08Speaker 6: He's been consistent, you know, pretty much every game he's
- 16:10Speaker 6: played this year, he's been a difference maker, whether it's
- 16:13Speaker 6: loud on the statuet or not. He's definitely been one
- 16:15Speaker 6: of the most consistent interior linemen for the Seahawks defensively. Now,
- 16:20Speaker 6: bumb let's once you walk me through the wide receiver
- 16:22Speaker 6: round up here.
- 16:24Speaker 7: All right, let's do a dk metcalp like I mentioned
- 16:26Speaker 7: five receptions one hundred and six yards, no touchdowns, but
- 16:29Speaker 7: was effective.
- 16:30Speaker 8: No Ofhfen had five for fifty nine.
- 16:32Speaker 7: In fact, Charbonney had five for thirty nine and Kobe
- 16:35Speaker 7: Parkinson two for thirty eight, Ken of Walker three for
- 16:37Speaker 7: twenty two. Jackson Smith and Jake but only two targets
- 16:40Speaker 7: but one of them went for a touchdown. He had
- 16:41Speaker 7: twelve yards overall. Tyler Lockett just couldn't get couldn't find
- 16:44Speaker 7: the groove man. He had five targets, one reception for
- 16:46Speaker 7: ten yards, and then Jake Bobo had one reception for
- 16:50Speaker 7: four yards. So no, we're overwhelming numbers once you get
- 16:53Speaker 7: outside of DK Metcalp. I do like the way the
- 16:56Speaker 7: ball was distributed, though.
- 16:57Speaker 6: Yeah, and I love to see Noah fen in Phobie
- 17:00Speaker 6: Parkinson out there. Noah it continued to make play after play.
- 17:03Speaker 6: I would love to see him continue to be involved
- 17:05Speaker 6: in his offense. It's hard when you have DK and
- 17:07Speaker 6: Tyler and JSN, but when the tight ends are involved,
- 17:10Speaker 6: this team is at its best.
- 17:12Speaker 5: And that's that's for sure. Now we alluded to it
- 17:14Speaker 5: a little bit earlier.
- 17:15Speaker 6: We're gonna hop in the coaches corner and take a
- 17:17Speaker 6: look at Geno Smith touchdown as he finds Jackson Smith
- 17:20Speaker 6: and Jigba.
- 17:21Speaker 5: On third down, Lockett starts in motion, right goes back.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Geno has time, looks pires back of the end zone.
- 17:28Speaker 8: Touchdown.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Sehawks reaching up making the catch is Jackson Smith and
- 17:35Speaker 4: Jaca from twelve yards And that was a laser thrown
- 17:41Speaker 4: by Geno.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Smith right under the goalposts.
- 17:45Speaker 4: JSN reaches up, snatches that ball between the two dps,
- 17:49Speaker 4: and the Seahawks have taken a thirteen to ten lead.
- 17:53Speaker 7: Yeah, So man, I like this man is a simple
- 17:56Speaker 7: double post with like a whip route underneath. So you
- 17:58Speaker 7: got Tyler Locke who starts as the number three receiver
- 18:01Speaker 7: outside of DK.
- 18:02Speaker 8: He motions the inside, then the ball is snapped.
- 18:05Speaker 7: Once he gets to that number three spot, he runs
- 18:07Speaker 7: the whip route, so he's going out to the sideline
- 18:10Speaker 7: reverse pivots. He's back underneath. But what they're doing here,
- 18:13Speaker 7: they're playing a game with the safety over the top
- 18:15Speaker 7: for the Steelers. Right, you got JSN in the slot,
- 18:18Speaker 7: he's gonna run a post. You got DK Metcalf on
- 18:20Speaker 7: the outside, He's gonna run a post, a little double
- 18:22Speaker 7: post action really making that safety have to choose who
- 18:25Speaker 7: he wants to take away. He slides over to his right,
- 18:28Speaker 7: takes away Dk Metcalf. You got Jasn work in the
- 18:31Speaker 7: middle of the field and a great throw by Gino.
- 18:34Speaker 7: You got no offense if that ball is a little later,
- 18:36Speaker 7: no offense on the other side. Looks like he's running
- 18:38Speaker 7: a post too. Something tells me one of those two
- 18:40Speaker 7: were supposed to be skinny. But nonetheless, Gino just reads
- 18:43Speaker 7: the safeties they expand a little bit. You got Jsin
- 18:47Speaker 7: working right up the middle of the field. He goes up,
- 18:49Speaker 7: catches it with his body. A nice bang bang type
- 18:52Speaker 7: of play right there. This young man is getting better
- 18:55Speaker 7: and better every single week.
- 18:56Speaker 6: I just love to throw from Geno from the end
- 18:58Speaker 6: zone shot where you can tell how dificult though throw
- 19:00Speaker 6: this was because you have the safety who's on Gino's
- 19:03Speaker 6: right side defensive left, who's kind of sitting there no
- 19:06Speaker 6: man's land. He's kind of squatting underneath and just trying
- 19:08Speaker 6: to read Geno's eyes and he That is just a
- 19:11Speaker 6: perfect throw from Gino Smith to get it just over
- 19:14Speaker 6: the top of the fingertips right to where only Jason
- 19:16Speaker 6: can catch the football. Great play, and I do agree
- 19:19Speaker 6: with you Bump. I'm not sure that Jayson and no
- 19:21Speaker 6: fan is supposed to be standing right next to each other.
- 19:23Speaker 5: In the back of the end zone, but hey, it's
- 19:25Speaker 5: all good when you score.
- 19:27Speaker 8: It all worked out counts for six.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Sure does.
- 19:31Speaker 6: But unfortunately what did not count was another check mark
- 19:35Speaker 6: in the win calling for the Seahawks. The clock just
- 19:37Speaker 6: ran out.
- 19:41Speaker 3: On me.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Taken by Hunley. They're just gonna left the clock wind down,
- 19:44Speaker 2: but it's not even gonna bother taking that last time out.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Disappointing day all round for the Seahawks as they were
- 19:51Speaker 6: unable to win the final home game of the twenty
- 19:53Speaker 6: twenty three season. Disappointing obviously from the playoff implications and
- 19:57Speaker 6: all that, but this team was actually played pretty well
- 19:59Speaker 6: at home this year leading into this, only that two
- 20:02Speaker 6: losses coming in, so that was tough there. And it
- 20:05Speaker 6: just comes down to the Steelers out executing. They ran
- 20:07Speaker 6: seventy one place to the Seahawks forty nine. They ran
- 20:10Speaker 6: for two hundred and two yards to the Seahawks eighty eight,
- 20:13Speaker 6: and the Seahawks are now two and eight when they
- 20:14Speaker 6: don't run for one hundred yards.
- 20:16Speaker 5: So really hard to win ball games that way, Bump.
- 20:18Speaker 8: Yeah, and you got to be able to tackle man.
- 20:20Speaker 8: That was an issue as well.
- 20:22Speaker 7: And then the time of possession thirty seven minutes or
- 20:25Speaker 7: twenty two minutes for the Seattle Seahawks. But on the positive,
- 20:28Speaker 7: Geno played an efficient game, almost completed seventy percent of
- 20:31Speaker 7: his passes. He looked good in the pocket, and he
- 20:33Speaker 7: found DK metcalf about five times for one hundred yards man.
- 20:38Speaker 7: Like I mentioned, the third time he's gone over one
- 20:40Speaker 7: hundred this season. Dk a thousand yard season man back
- 20:44Speaker 7: to back years.
- 20:45Speaker 8: You need to see DK finding himself in this offense.
- 20:50Speaker 7: Let's se if you can do one more time this
- 20:52Speaker 7: weekend and help these Hawks get a W in the desert.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Definitely, we need it, the Seahawks needed. They can get
- 20:58Speaker 5: it done.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Me and Bump are gonna break down the reasons why
- 21:00Speaker 6: they're gonna get that done in Arizona. Seahawks are back
- 21:03Speaker 6: at it this week getting ready for that game. We
- 21:06Speaker 6: appreciate everybody listening. This has been Hawk Talk. Make sure
- 21:09Speaker 6: to rate us on Apple podcasts if you're doing listening
- 21:11Speaker 6: that way, you can hear us anywhere Seahawks dot Com,
- 21:14Speaker 6: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Serious x M. The Seahawks gotta
- 21:19Speaker 6: find a way to get a win this weekend and
- 21:21Speaker 6: get a little help from the Bears to get in
- 21:22Speaker 6: the playoffs.
- 21:23Speaker 5: So I'm saying there's a chance and believe it. Speaking
- 21:26Speaker 5: of resistance, it's gonna happen.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Bump.
- 21:28Speaker 5: We will be planning a road tip to Dallas for
- 21:30Speaker 5: the playoffs, but before we get through that, we'll give
- 21:33Speaker 5: a little preview podcasts before then. So until next time,
- 21:36Speaker 5: he's back a bumpa some NaSTA Chobe. This has been
- 21:38Speaker 5: Hawk Talk.
