- 0:01Speaker 1: A small show, the smallsy show.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Here I go, Yeah, Hey, what's up? This is dream
- 0:07Speaker 2: House you're.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Listening to.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Hey on the show tonight. Two people I know.
- 0:21Speaker 4: One I just had the pleasure to see for the
- 0:24Speaker 4: very first time. You know, Connor and James from the Vams.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Alex Is knew. The group is called dream House Boys.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Welcome to the show.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Thank you, thanks very much.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Now now I go, I'm go straight to the first question.
- 0:37Speaker 4: What happened to the Vams?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Are we? Are we on a hiatus? One direction?
- 0:43Speaker 4: Is it one direction style hiatus? Like you hate each
- 0:46Speaker 4: other and you're never coming back together? What's the story?
- 0:50Speaker 5: Tristan's actually downstairs in my house at the moment, so
- 0:53Speaker 5: he's asleep in my front room.
- 0:54Speaker 2: So's the thing?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Okay, great, that's good.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's to be fair.
- 1:00Speaker 5: I think you know, we we we did five five
- 1:04Speaker 5: albums in however many years with the Vamps, probably sort
- 1:07Speaker 5: of six seven years, and I think at the moment
- 1:09Speaker 5: we're just sort of having a bit of time time apart.
- 1:11Speaker 2: But you know, we saw Brad. I think, well, obviously
- 1:15Speaker 2: I see Connor a lot. I saw Brad last week,
- 1:17Speaker 2: and Trust's in my front room. So still still still
- 1:19Speaker 2: loving each other, just just exploring some different things at
- 1:22Speaker 2: the moment.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Did you are you the one who has to take
- 1:24Speaker 1: that question? James? Did you answer that like Connor?
- 1:27Speaker 4: Is he the one who has to answer the specificness
- 1:29Speaker 4: on the Vamp?
- 1:30Speaker 1: Or you just took the lead on that, did you?
- 1:32Speaker 1: James underline? Is everything? Sorry? Yeah, Connor? Is everything? He's true?
- 1:37Speaker 1: Or or is he just a professional spokesman of the group?
- 1:41Speaker 3: I think, But I think a bit of both.
- 1:43Speaker 6: I think he's got James looks very shiny today as well.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I've just noticed it's like he's glowy in such a way.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But he deserves to take that question.
- 1:52Speaker 1: No, I love that.
- 1:53Speaker 4: I love that as long as everything is good and
- 1:54Speaker 4: we can put together put to the bed any rumors
- 1:57Speaker 4: that there is a rift in the Vamp.
- 1:59Speaker 1: That is good to hear.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Well, lads, we're all good.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Lad's lovely to see you, Alex, great to meet you.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Was it an easy yes to joining these two to
- 2:10Speaker 4: make a new band?
- 2:11Speaker 7: Not for me personally, because it's definitely out of my
- 2:15Speaker 7: comfort zone a bit. Okay, Like in the band, I'm
- 2:18Speaker 7: very much behind the scenes person. That was where my
- 2:21Speaker 7: love for music came from. Like the studio write in
- 2:25Speaker 7: but then I'm doing the tours of James, Like, we
- 2:28Speaker 7: had so much fun just like playing music go around
- 2:31Speaker 7: the UK and Europe, and that sort of persuaded me
- 2:34Speaker 7: a bit that maybe this could be something that I
- 2:37Speaker 7: actually enjoy and so far I have enjoyed.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It so nice.
- 2:41Speaker 7: Yeah, it took a little bit of persuade it.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Okay, So so who was it who wants to take
- 2:45Speaker 4: the lead on on the on the group? What's the
- 2:48Speaker 4: vibe of Dreamhouse? Because I've heard the song and we're
- 2:50Speaker 4: about to give it a spin. It's got a great sound.
- 2:53Speaker 4: It's like you boys have nailed it. I love it,
- 2:55Speaker 4: So what do you who wants to tell us about it?
- 2:58Speaker 3: I feel we can jump a bin.
- 2:59Speaker 6: But I think it's really exciting for us because it's
- 3:01Speaker 6: a direction that we all love and it's something that
- 3:05Speaker 6: we've never really gone down before. It's this kind of
- 3:08Speaker 6: mix of like in the dance edm mixed with guitars
- 3:13Speaker 6: and like live band elements, but still bring in like
- 3:16Speaker 6: of the sense and stuff that we love and we
- 3:21Speaker 6: hope that it goes really like down and well live.
- 3:23Speaker 6: That's kind of where we want to translate as well.
- 3:25Speaker 6: You can come and have a dance, you can hear
- 3:27Speaker 6: it in the club, you can hear it on a
- 3:29Speaker 6: live stage, and everyone can kind of enjoy it. In
- 3:33Speaker 6: this specific track, what the hell we're doing here is
- 3:37Speaker 6: kind of different vocal style to any of us have
- 3:40Speaker 6: done before, where it's like all this hight fulto, which
- 3:44Speaker 6: is it's been really fun to kind of explore that
- 3:45Speaker 6: as well, and you can kind of not tell who
- 3:48Speaker 6: it is singing.
- 3:49Speaker 3: It's quite it's quite.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Nice, you know, you can't tell who it is. It
- 3:52Speaker 4: definitely like, you know, I like it. If you've heard
- 3:55Speaker 4: the like, it doesn't sound like if someone was to
- 3:57Speaker 4: play it and you were a fan of the Vamps
- 3:59Speaker 4: and then you were to play dream House and go
- 4:02Speaker 4: half of this group is half of the Vamp, you
- 4:04Speaker 4: wouldn't pick it. So congratulations on like carving out like
- 4:08Speaker 4: a new a new sound and a new direction, because
- 4:11Speaker 4: it would be I would imagine some people would be like, oh,
- 4:15Speaker 4: the criticism could be, oh, it's the Vamps two point
- 4:18Speaker 4: zero or it sounds very similar. But what I've heard
- 4:21Speaker 4: so far is like that, well done lads on crafting
- 4:23Speaker 4: this new thing.
- 4:26Speaker 5: I guess like the thing with that is like, and
- 4:29Speaker 5: maybe this is what I should have said when us
- 4:30Speaker 5: about the Vamps, Like, Connor and I are very happy
- 4:34Speaker 5: doing what we do in the Vamps, so it's like
- 4:35Speaker 5: we already tick that box for quote unquote Vamps music,
- 4:38Speaker 5: so it's sure silly for us to go away and
- 4:40Speaker 5: be like, let's try and replicate it, especially when the
- 4:43Speaker 5: Vamps will come back at some point.
- 4:45Speaker 2: So but thank you.
- 4:47Speaker 5: And a lot of the production and the sound, well,
- 4:49Speaker 5: in fact, all the production is Alex, and I think
- 4:51Speaker 5: that's one of the reasons I really wanted to bring
- 4:53Speaker 5: Connor and Alex together because Alex just brings this kind
- 4:57Speaker 5: of we call him gandal because he's a wizard of sound,
- 5:00Speaker 5: and I think what he brings to the table is
- 5:02Speaker 5: something that Connor and I a lot.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Too familiar with.
- 5:05Speaker 5: And it's been amazing to kind of almost be like
- 5:07Speaker 5: his his pupils in class when we write music together.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So that's kind of down to Alex that the sound
- 5:12Speaker 2: is where it is.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Yeah, wow, that's great. Do you do you appreciate being
- 5:15Speaker 4: called the wizard of sound? There's worse things to be called, Alex.
- 5:18Speaker 4: There's worst things to be called.
- 5:21Speaker 7: It definitely is no I mean I'm a We're big
- 5:23Speaker 7: Lord of the Rings fans, and that's sort of where
- 5:25Speaker 7: that came from. But yeah, I've spent so much time
- 5:30Speaker 7: making so much different music that I think when we
- 5:33Speaker 7: started writing together for dream House, the whole premise for
- 5:36Speaker 7: me was just to make everything fun, yeah, and to
- 5:38Speaker 7: make it feel like we're sixteen again in a bedroom
- 5:42Speaker 7: making songs like way too loud. I think a lot
- 5:46Speaker 7: of like the synth and sort of guitar pedals or
- 5:49Speaker 7: fun things like that is like a huge part of
- 5:52Speaker 7: my inspiration when making music is just happy accidents and
- 5:56Speaker 7: oh yeah, that's like a lot of the dream House
- 5:59Speaker 7: sound is just I walked into the studio with us
- 6:01Speaker 7: making music and just sat and listened. It would sound
- 6:04Speaker 7: like terrible for about six hours, and then all of
- 6:07Speaker 7: a sudden, summon falls into place and it kind of
- 6:10Speaker 7: sounds like a song.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Oh I loved I love that.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Now, what's the what's the story with the name, what's
- 6:14Speaker 4: the what's the background on dream House? How did we
- 6:17Speaker 4: land there?
- 6:18Speaker 1: I don't really chat, GPT chat, GPT generator? What how
- 6:24Speaker 1: did we get? What your story?
- 6:26Speaker 3: I'm proud to say it wasn't chat.
- 6:28Speaker 6: As much as I love chat and I love Claude.
- 6:31Speaker 3: He's a great guy as well.
- 6:32Speaker 4: But no, she was I would think Claude feels feminine.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It's a masculine name, but she feels feminine.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I liked her.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I like that.
- 6:42Speaker 6: Well, you know, she he it can be where whatever
- 6:47Speaker 6: Claude wants to be. Yeah, it's more clever than all
- 6:50Speaker 6: of us. They can have, you know, they've got free
- 6:52Speaker 6: ram on that.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know.
- 6:55Speaker 6: It just it's just a name that we liked, and
- 6:57Speaker 6: it was the first one that we even kind of
- 7:00Speaker 6: suggested or actually, yeah, it was pretty much the first one.
- 7:04Speaker 3: And then yeah, we just went with it.
- 7:06Speaker 6: We liked like bigger than liveer than Live feelings, and
- 7:09Speaker 6: I feel like dream House is like one of the
- 7:11Speaker 6: things that we wanted to create, this sensity where people
- 7:14Speaker 6: can be invited into the dream house and you know,
- 7:17Speaker 6: it's a place where you can come and enjoy yourself and.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll leave everything at the door when you come in.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I like that.
- 7:26Speaker 4: What does the live show look like, is it? Yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 4: because it's like Cynthia, is it different vibe on stage?
- 7:34Speaker 4: Because you just did three sold out shows, right, Yeah,
- 7:37Speaker 4: we did three should.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Out shows in on Denmark Street in London, which is
- 7:41Speaker 7: like a super famous music street, or the guitar shops
- 7:44Speaker 7: here and stuff, so.
- 7:45Speaker 2: It's super cool.
- 7:46Speaker 7: But live we have an amazing drummer who plays with
- 7:48Speaker 7: us live will and then just guitars, synthesizers. Just lots
- 7:54Speaker 7: of loud noise right and screaming. Three men sitting way
- 8:00Speaker 7: too high.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I love, I love, I love the sound of that.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I love the sound of that. Boys.
- 8:06Speaker 4: The group is called dream House. I've got a lightning
- 8:09Speaker 4: round of house rules related questions. You have got house
- 8:12Speaker 4: in the title. I'm just gonna quiz your on just
- 8:15Speaker 4: house rules related questions. You tell me what you think
- 8:18Speaker 4: you would go replacing the toilet paper roll if you
- 8:21Speaker 4: finish it, what's the house rule?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Yes or no? Or do you leave it for the
- 8:25Speaker 1: next person you change it?
- 8:29Speaker 7: You have to do it over the girlfriend. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 7: she does it out of the bark.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And you're still together. Sorry, I would have I would
- 8:39Speaker 1: have left. I would have left.
- 8:40Speaker 4: No, We've all lived in a sharehouse where there's that
- 8:43Speaker 4: one mongrel animal who like takes the empty off and
- 8:45Speaker 4: then just throws it on the ground.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It's like walk that ship to the bin. Take that
- 8:50Speaker 1: ship to the bin. Okay, what about what about bin etiquette?
- 8:56Speaker 4: Do you take turns taking out the bins or is
- 8:59Speaker 4: it one person responsibility and that's always their responsibility?
- 9:02Speaker 1: What's the house rule?
- 9:03Speaker 5: I have to do it like my wife will not
- 9:06Speaker 5: touch the bins. To make it even worse, emptying the
- 9:10Speaker 5: hoover into the bin, the hoover bin and then ben
- 9:13Speaker 5: out is the worst combination.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Of hoover could be the most English thing that's been
- 9:17Speaker 4: said on this interview, just so you know, like you know,
- 9:20Speaker 4: we'd call it the dyson or maybe the vacuum. We
- 9:24Speaker 4: wouldn't call it the hoover. Hoover is a yeah, you guys,
- 9:29Speaker 4: do you have a dyson? But you still call it
- 9:30Speaker 4: the hoover? beIN like it's the most British thing ever.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Speaking of hoovering, what's the rule on doing the hoovering?
- 9:37Speaker 1: Are we sharing that? Is it one person's job when
- 9:39Speaker 1: it comes to vacuuming.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I think you.
- 9:42Speaker 6: Should share it because it's pretty stressful on the back.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Especially now I'm like, Fay.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Did you just say using the dyson is stressful on
- 9:50Speaker 4: the bag?
- 9:51Speaker 1: Mate?
- 9:51Speaker 4: Wait?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Do you wait?
- 9:53Speaker 3: Wait?
- 9:53Speaker 4: Do you get older the least stressful thing on the
- 9:57Speaker 4: bag using the steak. Okay, last house rule related question,
- 10:01Speaker 4: this would be for you connor with your flatmate. Where
- 10:04Speaker 4: are you at with eating their food? If it goes
- 10:06Speaker 4: into the fridge? Is it anyone's food? Do you have
- 10:09Speaker 4: a separate shelf? Is there a if you eat it,
- 10:12Speaker 4: replace it if it's not yours?
- 10:14Speaker 1: What's the house rule?
- 10:16Speaker 6: I think you should share. You should always share food.
- 10:19Speaker 6: I think that food makes the world around and you're
- 10:21Speaker 6: more happy if you share food.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and how does your FLATMATEE feel about that? Is
- 10:25Speaker 4: that because you eat their food? Because you eat their food.
- 10:30Speaker 6: I don't have anything in the fridge, so I don't
- 10:31Speaker 6: have anything to share.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not really fair.
- 10:34Speaker 4: This is this is I'm saying totally totally congratulates. Congratulations
- 10:38Speaker 4: on the song. As I said to you, I love it.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Thank you for being on and hopefully you get to
