- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 99 already — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've come a long way since greetings. Today I thought we'd tackle something you'll definitely use in Germany: the bakery. Luna: Oh, I love bakeries. The smell of fresh bread... but ordering can be intimidating. Lucas: Exactly. So we'll learn a few simple phrases. Let's start with the most common item: a bread roll. In German, Brötchen. Luna: Brötchen. That sounds cute. Lucas: It is! And to order one, you say: Ein Brötchen, bitte. Luna: Ein Brötchen, bitte. Lucas: Perfect. Now, the baker might ask: Was kostet das? That means 'How much is that?' But you can also ask it yourself. Luna: Was kostet das? So when I point at something, I say that? Lucas: Exactly. And if the price is good, you can say: Das ist günstig. That means 'That's cheap' or 'affordable'. Luna: Das ist günstig. I like that. So after I know the price, I decide how many? Lucas: Right. You could say: Ich nehme zwei. 'I'll take two.' Luna: Ich nehme zwei. That feels natural. And if I want to take it to go? Lucas: Then you add: Zum Mitnehmen, bitte. 'To go, please.' Luna: Zum Mitnehmen, bitte. Okay, let me try a whole order. Ein Brötchen, bitte. Was kostet das? Ah, das ist günstig. Ich nehme zwei. Zum Mitnehmen, bitte. Lucas: That was perfect! You just ordered like a local. Luna: Oh, that feels good. I'd actually use this. And you know, if Fexingo has been helping me make progress with real phrases like this, I'd definitely want to support it. Honestly, if today was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, it really helps keep the show ad-free and going. So if you can, consider it. Anyway, back to the bakery. Let's practice one more time with a different item, say a pretzel — Brezel. Luna: Ein Brezel, bitte. Was kostet das? Oh, das ist günstig. Ich nehme drei. Zum Mitnehmen, bitte. Lucas: Excellent. And for our listeners, repeat after me: Ein Brötchen, bitte. Luna: Ein Brötchen, bitte. Lucas: Was kostet das? Luna: Was kostet das? Lucas: Das ist günstig. Luna: Das ist günstig. Lucas: Ich nehme zwei. Luna: Ich nehme zwei. Lucas: Zum Mitnehmen, bitte. Luna: Zum Mitnehmen, bitte. Lucas: Now you're ready for a German bakery. Thanks for joining us on Fexingo. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Tschüss!
