- 0:00SPEAKER_01: We don't wait for the rhythm to lead.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: We make the rhythm.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: We call, we create, we think but routine.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Hey everybody, this is Cindy Clau with Anything But Routine.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And today I'm excited to have as my guest Eddie Jordhoy, who is the uh founder with along with his wife of Hibernate Bed Sheets, which is a fundraising company.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: And I I know if you're like my dance team, you're constantly needing money.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And we've implemented this with our Just for Kick Studios, and my high school team has done it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And I just think I wanted to share it to all other studios so they could have a way to earn funds for their team.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So Eddie, welcome.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: And maybe tell me a little bit about your company.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: So we are thanks for having me on here.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: We're excited.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: We we love dance teams, uh, cheer and high school marching bands because we help so many people get their their money needed for for this activity.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: So and of course, just for kicks being a leader in the in the dance world, it's it's exciting that two of the best team up together.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: So um we have been in business since 2008.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: We did our first bed sheet fundraiser in 2009 here in Teasley at Teasley Middle School in Canton, Georgia.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: And that was actually the very first bed sheet fundraiser done in this country.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Wow, and it was a wild success.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: And we were we were strictly in the wholesal wholesale business, doing business with furniture stores and things of that nature around the country.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: So um when we started it, it's the hardest part to sell was the product.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because women got it immediately.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: They're like, oh my gosh, the love sheets, what a great idea! Yeah, and we still today claim we're the only product in the fundraising world that people actually need or want, yeah.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: You know, and and you you've mentioned it to me before.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: You've been you've been in dance for 40, 50 years and done a gazillion fundraisers.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: I always ask people who loves to do fundraisers, right?
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: And everybody looks down.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: So I'm not here to to to sell fundraisers, I'm here to help the athletes get the money they need.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I I'll just jump in here.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I you know, I have done every fundraiser known to mankind, and and I did I've had them spread out all over my living room, sorting out this kid's and that kid's because I had to do the product and bring it to practice, and it was so much.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: And this one, you truly send out the link and they order it online, they take the payment, they ship it to the address of the client, they credit your kid on your team or studio, and then your team or studio gets sent one check and it will say, you know, Jane Olson raised this much, Susie Q raised this much, you know, Tristan raised this much, and Louis raised this much.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: It has like a list of everything that every kid made, and you don't even have to you deposit that check, and that's that's what you have to do.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: That's about it.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: So that's it.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: Yep, that's it.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: We do all the logistics, and that that was our goal because we're over here trying to have people do something they don't want to do, they don't want to do fundraising, right?
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: So we do the fundraiser, you just reach you and your participants reach out to people that love and care for them, right?
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: That's all.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: And then if grandma is in in uh Los Angeles, if Aunt Susie is in Detroit, Michigan, whatever it is, we ship it directly, and we ship it from just for kicks, by the way.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: I haven't mentioned that to you, but it's a true drop ship operation.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: We don't use third-party shippers, we own our own warehouse, we are the direct importers.
- 4:11SPEAKER_02: I have a warehouse staff, they do the shipping.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: So it's a true drop ship and a blind ship, and uh we can include the marketing materials if you want to, whatever, whatever we want you guys want to do.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: But the key to the directors, to the parents, to the kids is this is not another fundraiser that we're gonna push on you and and put something else on your plate.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Everybody's busy, nobody has time for anything, right?
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: So all we're asking you guys to do is just share the link, and it's a personal link with a with a with a code that's for that city and that kid, that child, right?
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: First and last name, like you mentioned.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: We are very flexible because we're direct with each other just for kicks and and hibernate.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: So whatever we need to do to tweak this program to make it easier for you guys, but I think we've dumbed it down to where it's so easy.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: We collect, we collect the money, we collect the orders.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: Uh it's all it's all automated between the website and our shipping software, ship station.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: It it's it spits out, we we send out reports, everything is through Shopify, every order um uh is sent to you guys.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Well, now if we're talking studios that have nothing to do with us, you know, this is for the the national podcast.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it would go to you know Betty Joe's School of Dance or wherever.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So when they sign up, they won't sign up through just for kicks, they will sign up through their studio or their high school team.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: But yeah, for our internal students, we're having it go right to our office and goes right in the kids' account.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, I think the neat thing too about it is that they can keep redoing it all year long.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Like, say you need a little more money, you could go try to go sell four more sets of sheet this month, you know, on your team, and then you've already got it set up and they can just go to it.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: A lot of people yeah, a lot of people re-rebuy it.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: This episode is sponsored by Jesper Kick's teacher program, your ultimate destination for all your dancewear needs.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Studio owners and teachers enjoy special discounts on dancewear essentials, including shoes, palms, letards, themed bike cards, dance dresses, costumes, and more.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Plus, don't miss a moment on our dance costume liquidation page, where you can find incredible deals on high-quality costumes at unbeatable prices, with a wide range of in-sunk items ready to ship when you need them fast.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: And top-notch customer service.

- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Visit us and just for kicks that come and click them in the teacher program in the header or come 1-800-450-dance to get started today.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: So, as a studio owner or a coach, one thing I love is when kids are directly credited for the work they do.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we've all done like car washes or bake sales, you know, and you lump the money together.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Well, what happens is the same moms do all the work and the same parents are the ones doing it.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: And then you divide it up.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: That's how you don't have one anyone that wants to work.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: But like, say you're trying to earn money to go to camp or to go to the bowl game or to pay for your tap class, it goes into them directly.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: So they are directly benefiting from what their parents do or what their grandparents do or what they sell.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: So that's what the beauty of it is, and you really can keep redoing it.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: So I think it's a great fundraiser.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: And that's that's the reason I wanted to share it, is because we've had so much good luck with it.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: And I I hear this constantly on my Facebook group, uh, Dance Coaches and Teachers Unite.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: It's like, what do you do for a fundraiser?
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: And I I just think we have to share this one.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: So people are hearing about it out there.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I hope you don't get so busy that you can't keep up because that could happen.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, we're good.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: We've done very well over the last 18 years, and we've sold millions of bed sheets, and it's it's just it works, it's a great product, 100% warranty.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: We don't argue with grandma and all that stuff.
- 8:29SPEAKER_02: If something happens, we asked them if they want a replacement or if they want their money back, and 99 out of 100 wanted replacement.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: It's just so it's and I don't recall ever having that happen with the one we did.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: We didn't have any.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: And and like I told you earlier, if what I'm sitting here telling you is not the reality out there in the world, we're wasting our time, right?
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there is it's it's amazing.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: There's barely any returns or any problems.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Now they're made in you know mass production, so things can happen, it can be missing a pillowcase, it can you know things of that nature, and you stand behind it, so we stand behind it 100.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: And then you had a great point on the individuals getting getting paid.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: So, two things if we do one for a group, it doesn't work because it's the 80-20 rule, right?
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: So 80% of the business is going to be done by 20% of the parents.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Now, when the individuals gets gets credit, it's just it propels, it goes crazy.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: Number one, number number two, Cindy, is people aren't, and I'm not bashing fundraising products, but people aren't they're they're not expecting a high-end product, right?
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: So grandma or Aunt Judy will buy a set because it's it's little susie, right?
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: And her dad's school.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: So she'll buy a set for the guest bedroom.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: And then the I'm I'm not trying to sell my sheets, I promise you.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: But what happens, and we have stats for this.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: What happens is she gets them and she launders them, and she's like, Oh my gosh, these are awesome! I need some for myself.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: So, in the in the fundraising business, and this goes straight back to your participants in our fundraising part of our business, 30% of the orders going out is two or more sets.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: I know when the first time I ordered from my niece, she was pretty thrilled because I was I had just moved into a condo and I needed sheets for every room.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: So I was like, okay, I need two queens, a single, and two kings.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And she was like, Yay, you know, so people will order.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: So we'll put all this information in our emailer that we send out that has the codes and everything you can do.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: And I just am sharing this.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Um, I have no financial stake in it, other than I wanted to share for you guys to help you with a great fundraiser.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so thanks for coming on today.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, one more thing.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: That you were saying about the individuals.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: Here's the thing if if parents, grandma, whatever, everybody shares the link.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: If somebody sells 10 sets of sheets every month, right?
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: Which is so easy, it's an it's absolutely crazy.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they they gotta raise$2,400 a year.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: You know, and we we started, we're like our kids in our local town, they're thinking of going to the Reliquest Bowl, uh, not this December, but a year from December.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: So 27, 28.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, you guys start selling now, and you're gonna have it ends up being about 2,000 to go because we go to Disney, we go to Busch Gardens, we go on a dinner cruise with a band and go to the beach, they do everything, so it's you know, it gets expensive, plus the bowl game costume and all that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: So if you started now, then you'd have that long range plan to go on that trip.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: So any, yeah.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: You can cut this if you if you want to, but it's uh hibernatefundraising.com and it's we're just here to help athletes.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: We're not pushing the product, we're we're pushing the simplicity of it.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: So well, thank you, Eddie.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: It's been great to meet you, and I hope this goes well for so many dance studios around the country that need to raise funds.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Thank thank you.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: We make the rhythm, we call, we create, we leave the routine.
