- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from Midtown Manhattan, here comes the Mark Simone Show
- 0:05Speaker 1: on 710WOR.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, hey, I've got a lot to get to today.
- 0:11Speaker 3: U.N.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Week, Netanyahu, the Iranian president yesterday, Chinese President Xi's visit
- 0:17Speaker 2: to Washington. That was pretty interesting, that greeting. That fat
- 0:21Speaker 2: slob Chris Christie, wait till you hear what he's up to.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We'll get to Harvey Weinstein, who... Begged for mercy yesterday.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We'll get to that. We'll get to Taylor Swift. We'll
- 0:30Speaker 2: get to Hochul and Blakeman and more coming up. It's
- 0:35Speaker 2: 54 degrees outside. Boy, that summer, when it ends, it ends.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It's 54 outside. I see overcoats outside. I see scarves.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I see sweaters outside. Now, you know, when you look
- 0:51Speaker 2: at the video of President Trump, he comes to greet
- 0:55Speaker 2: the At the airport, he comes to greet Chinese President Xi,
- 0:59Speaker 2: President Trump wearing a heavy overcoat and gloves. And that's many,
- 1:06Speaker 2: many miles south of us in Washington, D.C. President Xi's
- 1:10Speaker 2: visit to Washington, Andrews Air Force Base, now called Joint
- 1:15Speaker 2: Base Andrews. It's very, very, very unusual for a president
- 1:21Speaker 2: to actually come to the airplane and wait at the
- 1:23Speaker 2: bottom of the steps to greet somebody. That is highly unusual.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Last time it happened was 1962. John F. Kennedy did
- 1:33Speaker 2: it for the British prime minister. Now, actually, Barack Obama
- 1:38Speaker 2: did it for the Pope. But for a world leader,
- 1:42Speaker 2: that is the ultimate sign of respect. Now, there are
- 1:45Speaker 2: a lot of people that are mad about that. They
- 1:47Speaker 2: don't think President Trump should be showing that kind of courtesy,
- 1:51Speaker 2: that kind of respect. to Xi, who is our enemy,
- 1:55Speaker 2: our enemy, but that's the Trump way. No matter how
- 1:58Speaker 2: much you hate somebody, no matter how much of a
- 1:59Speaker 2: dispute you're in, you try to talk to the guy,
- 2:02Speaker 2: you try to be nice to the guy. He does
- 2:03Speaker 2: it with Mamdani, and he does it with President Xi.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Many are critical of it, but he does it hoping
- 2:09Speaker 2: to make an agreement, hoping to get something out of him. Now,
- 2:13Speaker 2: the problem with Xi, or the Iranians, or the Russians,
- 2:17Speaker 2: you can make all the agreements you want, no matter
- 2:19Speaker 2: what the agreement you make, they're not going to stick
- 2:21Speaker 2: to it. Iran never does. China never does. Russia never does.
- 2:25Speaker 2: So it's like thinking socialism is going to work. A
- 2:31Speaker 2: billion times these agreements with Chinese, Iranians, Russians never work.
- 2:37Speaker 2: They'll never stick to them. So I don't know what
- 2:39Speaker 2: the point is, but there's a huge day of activities
- 2:42Speaker 2: with President Xi. It's President Xi Day there. I'm looking
- 2:46Speaker 2: at the schedule. It just goes on and on. At
- 2:49Speaker 2: 10 o'clock, there's a gift exchanging ceremony. I've seen this
- 2:53Speaker 2: President Xi. What the hell would you give this guy?
- 2:57Speaker 2: But the President, he'll give Trump a gift. Trump will
- 2:59Speaker 2: give him probably a box of Trump steaks or something
- 3:02Speaker 2: like that. Some Trump neckties or something like that. One
- 3:06Speaker 2: of those Trump hats or maybe even the Trump golf shirt.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And then they go to all sorts of meetings throughout
- 3:13Speaker 2: the day. Then tonight there's a big state dinner. All
- 3:17Speaker 2: the tech CEOs, the Zuckerberg types, Apple CEO and All
- 3:23Speaker 2: the AI CEOs have been invited to this state dinner
- 3:27Speaker 2: with President Xi and Madam Peng. And that'll be tonight.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So that'll take up most of the day. Here in
- 3:34Speaker 2: New York, big day. At the UN, it's Netanyahu Day.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Benjamin Netanyahu will speak. He stayed in New York last
- 3:45Speaker 2: night without incident as far as crazy protesters or anything
- 3:48Speaker 2: like that. But he will speak today. It should be
- 3:50Speaker 2: a fiery and dramatic speech. as he takes on the UN,
- 3:55Speaker 2: as he takes on all the people that are trying
- 3:58Speaker 2: to wipe out Israel, as he takes on Mamdani and
- 4:00Speaker 2: all the anti-Semites all over the place. So this will
- 4:04Speaker 2: be some speech today. Yesterday, it was the Iranian president
- 4:08Speaker 2: who tried to tell us all off.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yesterday, the United States president described us as terrorists.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 4:16Speaker 4: We have been the victims of terrorism.
- 4:18Speaker 2: No, you haven't. You've been the world sponsor of terrorism.
- 4:22Speaker 2: You've sponsored the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, every terrorist organization in
- 4:26Speaker 2: the world.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Palestine remains an open wound on the conscience of the
- 4:30Speaker 4: international community. And Gaza remains.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Nobody knows what the hell this guy is saying. But
- 4:35Speaker 2: he looked terrified. He looked panicked. This guy's got to
- 4:40Speaker 2: worry that when he gets back to Iran, they don't
- 4:42Speaker 2: kill him and execute him. One wrong word, one wrong move,
- 4:45Speaker 2: and he's executed. He's the president of Iran, but you
- 4:48Speaker 2: wouldn't want to be his life insurance company. But he
- 4:51Speaker 2: went on and on.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Peaceful nuclear technology is part of our inherent progress. For
- 4:57Speaker 4: our sick people is cure and treatment. For the agricultural
- 5:02Speaker 4: sector is food security. For industry is advancement and progress
- 5:07Speaker 4: and supply of electrical energy.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the Iranian method. You just out and out lie.
- 5:12Speaker 2: We have nuclear for peaceful commercial purposes. Well, see, the
- 5:16Speaker 2: problem is that sort of uranium, you would enrich it
- 5:20Speaker 2: to 20% to use for commercial and peaceful purposes. It's
- 5:24Speaker 2: enriched to 20%. 90% is nuclear weapon. Well, they kept
- 5:32Speaker 2: enriching more and more. They had it up to 60%. 60%,
- 5:36Speaker 2: which meant they were two weeks away from 90%. and
- 5:39Speaker 2: having a nuclear weapon. That's when we attacked, when they
- 5:42Speaker 2: hit 60% and climbing. That meant only two weeks till
- 5:45Speaker 2: they had a nuclear weapon. So that's what they did,
- 5:48Speaker 2: just lie and lie and lie.
- 5:50Speaker 4: They came into surrounding territories and targeted our universities, our
- 5:57Speaker 4: healthcare centers, our schools, our hospitals, our infrastructures, all of
- 6:03Speaker 4: it against international law.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Well, that's just terrible. Our old friend Mike Wallace would say,
- 6:09Speaker 2: That story does not have the added benefit of being true,
- 6:13Speaker 2: but it's quite a story. So he just went on
- 6:16Speaker 2: and on lying and lying.
- 6:18Speaker 3: The U.S.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Representative got up and walked out in the middle of this.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Those who are ill, innocent people, the poor, the least
- 6:24Speaker 4: privileged in our society are the targets of these sanctions.
- 6:27Speaker 4: And this is what the United States seeks to do.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So he went on and on. Nobody was buying it.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And remember, the president speaking, lashing out at Iran in
- 6:36Speaker 2: his speech. And this is unheard of. Four times during
- 6:39Speaker 2: the president's speech got applause from the U.N. General Assembly.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Never happens. They actually burst out in applause four times
- 6:46Speaker 2: during his speech. This guy, they just looked at him
- 6:50Speaker 2: half asleep, all comatose listening to this speech. So he's gone.
- 6:55Speaker 2: We'll see if he's alive a week from now. President Xi,
- 6:59Speaker 2: when he landed, as they say, the president was there
- 7:02Speaker 2: to greet him. President Xi came down the stairs and
- 7:05Speaker 2: they stood there. And there were a lot of military there,
- 7:08Speaker 2: so they saluted the military. And then President Trump pulled
- 7:11Speaker 2: this trick he pulled on Putin. Just as they're standing there,
- 7:15Speaker 2: a military flyover, our most ferocious warplanes fly over, making
- 7:20Speaker 2: an unbelievable amount of noise. F-16s, B-52s, stealth bombers, they
- 7:25Speaker 2: just do a flyover right over their heads. It's quite
- 7:28Speaker 2: an intimidating and frightening moment. Remember when it happened with
- 7:32Speaker 2: Putin and he ducked? He didn't know what the hell
- 7:34Speaker 2: was going on. Well, when they did it to Sheik,
- 7:37Speaker 2: He didn't flinch. He didn't bat an eye.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Why?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Because they warned him. This trick only works once. The
- 7:45Speaker 2: Chinese warned him that Trump might pull this stuff. So
- 7:48Speaker 2: he was ready for it and just stood there frozen.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Didn't move. Didn't flinch. Didn't even blink. That's pretty interesting. So, hey,
- 7:58Speaker 2: Harvey Weinstein. That was rough. That was rough. Apparently he
- 8:02Speaker 2: was going to get sentenced yesterday in another rape case.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Which rape was this?
- 8:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:07Speaker 2: We can't keep track of all of them. But apparently
- 8:11Speaker 2: he begged for mercy in the courtroom. He groveled for mercy,
- 8:14Speaker 2: it says, during his sentencing. Begging for mercy. The prosecutor
- 8:18Speaker 2: would hear none of it. The judge would hear none
- 8:21Speaker 2: of it. And apparently they found a little scheme where
- 8:24Speaker 2: he paid a podcaster $ 1. 75 million, almost $ 2 million, to
- 8:31Speaker 2: instill fear in his victims. Weinstein looked decrepit. He's only 74,
- 8:36Speaker 2: but he looked 94. He had just remained frozen as
- 8:41Speaker 2: they sentenced him to 15 years behind bars. He's already
- 8:45Speaker 2: behind bars for years, but the judge really went after him,
- 8:49Speaker 2: calling him a sexual predator, took advantage of his insatiable
- 8:53Speaker 2: appetite for sexual dominance. I have no remorse for, oh,
- 8:59Speaker 2: Weinstein said, I have no remorse for Miriam Haley who
- 9:04Speaker 2: was rolled into court in a wheelchair. I guess Weinstein
- 9:08Speaker 2: came in in a wheelchair, but he had no remorse
- 9:09Speaker 2: for the victims. Turned out he had hired private investigators
- 9:13Speaker 2: to track her after she came forward to look for
- 9:15Speaker 2: dirt on her. Well, that's not unusual. You hire any
- 9:18Speaker 2: top criminal lawyer, first thing they do is put a
- 9:21Speaker 2: lot of private eyes on the case, investigate the accuser,
- 9:24Speaker 2: see if they can find any dirt to discredit her.
- 9:26Speaker 2: That's not nice, but that happens in every major criminal case.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But the judge really went after him. Alvin Bragg, ooh,
- 9:35Speaker 2: he was a press conference, how glad he was to
- 9:37Speaker 2: put this guy. Nobody said to him, hey, this is
- 9:40Speaker 2: the first time you put anybody in jail. How come
- 9:42Speaker 2: you don't put criminals in jail? I mean, this guy's
- 9:44Speaker 2: a bad guy, Harvey Weinstein, but why don't you put
- 9:47Speaker 2: some other criminals in jail? He's so busy letting everybody out. Remember,
- 9:52Speaker 2: he wrote that memo the first day in office. We
- 9:54Speaker 2: will not seek carceral sentences. In other words, don't put
- 9:59Speaker 2: anybody in jail. This guy, at least this guy he
- 10:02Speaker 2: puts in jail, but it's the only case. Gloria Allred,
- 10:05Speaker 2: remember her from 20 years ago? 30 years ago, remember her?
- 10:10Speaker 2: Gloria Allred, tabloid attorney. There she was all over this thing.
- 10:14Speaker 6: He says, although you no longer pose a physical threat,
- 10:19Speaker 6: you are a sexual predator. So I think that's among
- 10:22Speaker 6: the most important things that the judge said.
- 10:25Speaker 2: How much quieter slowed down that Gloria Allred. Remember, she
- 10:27Speaker 2: used to be yelling and screaming all the time. Well,
- 10:30Speaker 2: so I knew Harvey Weinstein. He was an aggravating guy
- 10:35Speaker 2: to be around. I mean, just you'd run into this guy.
- 10:39Speaker 2: You'd see him at a party or something. You start
- 10:41Speaker 2: talking to him. Next thing he's screaming at you about
- 10:43Speaker 2: Hillary Clinton is great. I mean, I always tell people,
- 10:46Speaker 2: don't talk about politics. And I would never talk about it.
- 10:49Speaker 2: He'd bring it up, start yelling at me about how
- 10:51Speaker 2: great the Clintons were. Hey, by the way, I saw
- 10:54Speaker 2: Bill Clinton yesterday. He didn't look so good. Very, very frail.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Walking very slow with some guys helping him. It didn't
- 11:03Speaker 2: look good. Now, the reason he's here, anytime they have
- 11:06Speaker 2: this UN week, the Clintons run their Clinton Global Initiative
- 11:11Speaker 2: at the New York Hilton. And they charge... starstruck donors,
- 11:16Speaker 2: a fortune to come to this. It's basically a money-making
- 11:20Speaker 2: operation for the Clintons. They take in millions with this
- 11:23Speaker 2: Clinton Global Initiative, and they claim that they're doing humanitarian
- 11:27Speaker 2: work all over the world. But if you dig into
- 11:29Speaker 2: the finances and look through their tax forms, most of
- 11:32Speaker 2: the money does not get to this humanitarian work. It's
- 11:36Speaker 2: a way to make a lot of money. Now, they
- 11:38Speaker 2: need celebrities. There are notables. Because these big, big money
- 11:41Speaker 2: donors are more starstruck than anybody. You can get them
- 11:44Speaker 2: to pay half a million to come to your thing.
- 11:47Speaker 2: If they can take pictures with famous people. But I
- 11:50Speaker 2: think they're having trouble getting famous people or big notable
- 11:55Speaker 2: political figures to this event anymore. Because the big speaker
- 11:58Speaker 2: yesterday was Prince Harry. They flew in Prince Harry. Or
- 12:04Speaker 2: whatever he is. I don't know if he's even a
- 12:05Speaker 2: prince anymore. He's a guy with nothing to do. Prince Harry.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Managed to fit this into his busy schedule and come
- 12:14Speaker 2: over here. And there he was, made a little speech,
- 12:16Speaker 2: took pictures with everybody. I'm sure they paid him a
- 12:19Speaker 2: nice bit of money to come do that. So, hey,
- 12:24Speaker 2: you know who wants to run 2028? Well, I don't
- 12:28Speaker 2: think he's capable of running. He wants to walk, I guess.
- 12:30Speaker 2: It's Chris Christie. Yeah, that big fat slob is back.
- 12:35Speaker 2: He's back. 2028? 2028? Boy, this is a dumb time
- 12:39Speaker 2: to run. This is the one time the Republicans have
- 12:41Speaker 2: a hell of a bench. They got J.D. Vance. They
- 12:45Speaker 2: got Marco Rubio. They got Scott Besant. They got a
- 12:48Speaker 2: big bench. This is a tough field to run against,
- 12:51Speaker 2: especially if you're a New Jersey governor who left in disgrace,
- 12:54Speaker 2: who hasn't worked in 10 years or whatever. It's kind
- 12:57Speaker 2: of a tough. This will be tough. But there's Chris Christie,
- 13:01Speaker 2: and he's pretty open about wanting to run.
- 13:04Speaker 7: Am I looking at it? Look, anybody who comes up
- 13:07Speaker 7: here Anybody who comes up here and has ever run
- 13:12Speaker 7: for president and not won and told you they're not
- 13:17Speaker 7: looking at it again is lying.
- 13:19Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Now, there he was in New Hampshire. Now, a guy
- 13:23Speaker 2: like Chris Christie, Mr. New Jersey, never goes to New
- 13:26Speaker 2: Hampshire unless he's running. It's not a type of place
- 13:29Speaker 2: he would go. Chris Christie's not going there for a vacation.
- 13:32Speaker 2: So he's there. He's running.
- 13:33Speaker 7: I love this state. I love the people here. And
- 13:36Speaker 7: if I decide to run. this will be a place
- 13:39Speaker 7: where I'll be spending a lot of time.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Okay. Definitely, absolutely no chance of anything. Now, why is
- 13:47Speaker 2: he doing this? He knows he has no chance. Why
- 13:49Speaker 2: is he doing this? I think he's looking for a job.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I don't think he's had one in a while. A
- 13:55Speaker 2: guy like this, he could be on the board of
- 13:57Speaker 2: big companies, get paid a lot of money. He could
- 13:59Speaker 2: put you on the masthead of a law firm, pay
- 14:03Speaker 2: a lot of money to look important for the law
- 14:05Speaker 2: firm and bring in clients, that kind of stuff. So
- 14:08Speaker 2: if you look like you might be a president or
- 14:11Speaker 2: you might be a top presidential contender, that can get
- 14:13Speaker 2: you some work in corporate America where the real money is.
- 14:17Speaker 2: So that might be what this is all about. Or
- 14:19Speaker 2: maybe his TV contract is up and he needs to
- 14:23Speaker 2: get renewed. Thought he'd have a hell of a TV career.
- 14:27Speaker 2: He really doesn't. He's on that ABC Sunday show once
- 14:30Speaker 2: or twice a month. They put him on the panel
- 14:32Speaker 2: on that ABC Sunday show. It's not a big thing anymore.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Those Sunday shows is like $ 1 million. 1.3 million viewers,
- 14:40Speaker 2: that's it. And they don't pay a lot of money
- 14:42Speaker 2: to be on the panel once or twice a month.
- 14:44Speaker 2: So he's probably looking for more of a TV career.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's one reason. It's like that awful Nikki Haley. That's
- 14:51Speaker 2: why she would run. Just looking to get on corporate
- 14:53Speaker 2: boards or get a corporate job or a TV job.
- 14:56Speaker 2: So I think that's what he's really up to. Hey,
- 14:59Speaker 2: the very sad story of Sully Sullenberger, the unbelievably skilled
- 15:04Speaker 2: pilot who landed that plane in the Hudson River. Remember
- 15:09Speaker 2: that landing in the Hudson River so many years ago?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Bird strike. Took out both engines. There he is, up
- 15:16Speaker 2: over New York City in a big jet plane with
- 15:18Speaker 2: both engines out. No power, no engines. And what do
- 15:23Speaker 2: you do? Now, luckily, this guy, like a lot of pilots,
- 15:28Speaker 2: had been a military pilot in Vietnam. So those are
- 15:34Speaker 2: usually very skilled guys. And this is the luckiest thing ever.
- 15:37Speaker 2: He had also trained As a glider pilot, he was
- 15:41Speaker 2: an expert in flying gliders, which means he knew how
- 15:45Speaker 2: to fly, knows how to fly without engines. Because when
- 15:49Speaker 2: he had to do that landing, first of all, he
- 15:51Speaker 2: had to know where to land. And he knew the
- 15:53Speaker 2: Hudson River would be the place. And they kept telling him,
- 15:55Speaker 2: go north of the George Washington Bridge because there's more
- 15:59Speaker 2: room there. But he knew to go south because south
- 16:03Speaker 2: of the bridge is New York City and in the
- 16:06Speaker 2: middle of everything. And he knew the plane might not
- 16:09Speaker 2: stay afloat that long once it hit the water. And
- 16:12Speaker 2: you wanted to be wherever you were closest to the
- 16:15Speaker 2: rescue boats, NYPD rescue boats, New Jersey rescue boats. He
- 16:18Speaker 2: knew if he landed south of the George Washington Bridge,
- 16:21Speaker 2: there'd be a ton of boats there in a second
- 16:23Speaker 2: to rescue everybody. And he was right. And it's not
- 16:27Speaker 2: easy to land a plane with no power and no engines.
- 16:30Speaker 2: You got to keep the wings exactly level in the
- 16:34Speaker 2: right way. so that when you hit, you don't smash
- 16:36Speaker 2: the plane. And he knew how to do it. Now
- 16:40Speaker 2: he has Alzheimer's. He's been diagnosed. He's talking about it openly.
- 16:44Speaker 9: An early diagnosis is so critically important. If you have doubts,
- 16:49Speaker 9: get tested. Because the sooner you act, the more options
- 16:53Speaker 9: there are, the better the outcome is likely to be.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah, great hero, very sad story.
- 16:58Speaker 9: One of the first things I noticed was it was
- 17:00Speaker 9: harder and harder to remember people's names, even people we knew.
- 17:03Speaker 9: And that's still an issue. Just forgetting things that I
- 17:06Speaker 9: normally wouldn't or repeating myself, not realizing I just said
- 17:10Speaker 9: that an hour ago. And then having to look at
- 17:13Speaker 9: my calendar every day to keep track of all the
- 17:16Speaker 9: events that I have. We felt all those emotions and
- 17:19Speaker 9: the shock.
- 17:22Speaker 2: The anger. Why me?
- 17:24Speaker 9: We're not by any means alone. We're part of this
- 17:28Speaker 9: community who are trying to make the best of a
- 17:30Speaker 9: bad situation.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the big lesson there, get tested. Very important.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Get tested. Joe Biden, you listening? Get tested. Get tested. Hey,
- 17:43Speaker 2: we got a lot to get to. Are the phones fixed? Yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 2: the phones are fixed. We can actually take phone calls later.
- 17:48Speaker 2: They were out all day yesterday. It wasn't our fault.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Turns out it was an AT & T outage affecting
- 17:54Speaker 2: many buildings. But we'll get to that. We'll get back
- 17:58Speaker 2: to UN week. I'll tell you when it's all going
- 18:00Speaker 2: to be over. We'll get to Blakeman and Hochul and
- 18:02Speaker 2: a lot more coming up. Mark Simone here. Three hours
- 18:05Speaker 2: every day. It's 9 to noon every day. Now I'm
- 18:08Speaker 2: on three hours, 9 to noon every day here on 710WOR.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios, Mark Simone.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Well, there's this new study out about affordability. What's the
- 18:23Speaker 2: most affordable cities and all that sort of stuff? Most
- 18:26Speaker 2: affordable places to live? Guess who gets crushed in this,
- 18:29Speaker 2: who comes in just about last? 137th place, Manhattan. Queens, 147. Brooklyn, 148. Yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 2: New York City in this thing gets crushed as totally unaffordable.
- 18:46Speaker 2: You have to realize it's a great compliment to New York.
- 18:50Speaker 2: It means it costs a fortune to live here. that
- 18:52Speaker 2: the rents are a fortune, to buy an apartment is
- 18:55Speaker 2: a fortune. Why is that? Because everybody's here. You can't,
- 18:59Speaker 2: you can always tell when an area is not doing well,
- 19:02Speaker 2: the prices plunge. If there's a town where nobody wants
- 19:06Speaker 2: to live, the house that was a million, all of
- 19:08Speaker 2: a sudden it's 400,000. That's why certain places, if you
- 19:13Speaker 2: went to Greenwich, Connecticut, or if you went to Locust
- 19:18Speaker 2: Valley in Long Island, It's a fortune for us. It's
- 19:21Speaker 2: a lot of money because everybody wants to live there. Meantime,
- 19:24Speaker 2: if you go to a lesser rundown area, it doesn't
- 19:28Speaker 2: cost that much. So the fact we have an affordability
- 19:31Speaker 2: problem here, it's terrible, but it means you're doing very, very,
- 19:35Speaker 2: very well. And that's why some states, they have no
- 19:38Speaker 2: state income tax. They need to do that to get
- 19:41Speaker 2: people there. You know, you got to lower the prices
- 19:44Speaker 2: to get people in. So some states have to have
- 19:46Speaker 2: no state income tax to attract people. But now, according
- 19:51Speaker 2: to this same study, you get more for your money.
- 19:55Speaker 2: It's not in terms of square footage, but in terms
- 19:58Speaker 2: of amenities of a city. So New York ranks like
- 20:02Speaker 2: number three in the country as far as amenities. In
- 20:05Speaker 2: other words, the best transit system, green space, that sort
- 20:09Speaker 2: of stuff, parks, things to do. So we rank extremely
- 20:14Speaker 2: high on that. Yeah, we're considered the best public transit.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I know it's filthy and dangerous down there in some
- 20:19Speaker 2: of those subways, but what they mean is you could
- 20:22Speaker 2: go anywhere on the subway. It's not like Boston where
- 20:26Speaker 2: you can only go like five places on the subway.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You can get anywhere and everywhere in the city on
- 20:32Speaker 2: the subway. Hey, the TSA... is getting these new scanning machines,
- 20:38Speaker 2: these new security scanners. Super high-tech. They're even better. They're unbelievable.
- 20:43Speaker 2: You know, the thing where you put your bag, your
- 20:45Speaker 2: carry-on bag, and they put it through the scanning. Well,
- 20:50Speaker 2: the only problem is it's like an inch narrower. So
- 20:54Speaker 2: everybody's carry-on bag, you know, there's a certain size for carry-on.
- 20:59Speaker 2: It used to be a certain size. And then like
- 21:01Speaker 2: 20 years ago, they made it a little smaller. So
- 21:03Speaker 2: if you have a carry-on from 30 years ago, you
- 21:05Speaker 2: can't carry it on anymore. The current carry-on size, I
- 21:10Speaker 2: forget exactly what it is, but these new scanners are
- 21:13Speaker 2: like one inch smaller. So a lot of carry-ons aren't fitting,
- 21:18Speaker 2: which means you got to go back to the counter
- 21:21Speaker 2: and check your bag. It's a really annoying thing to
- 21:24Speaker 2: have happen. So all they suggest is call ahead or
- 21:28Speaker 2: look up exactly what the carry-on size for that particular airline.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Because not every airport will have these brand new scanners.
- 21:39Speaker 2: But just check and see if they do. Because you
- 21:41Speaker 2: could have a big problem with that. CNN, they're in
- 21:46Speaker 2: absolute panic over there, over the new ownership. And the
- 21:49Speaker 2: new ownership is talking about bringing in somebody that's really
- 21:53Speaker 2: got them freaked out. We'll get to that coming up
- 21:57Speaker 2: in a little while. Bernie Sanders has unveiled his bill
- 22:03Speaker 2: It's a bill to ban AI or look at this.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Even Bernie's now calling it super intelligence. That's the Trump name,
- 22:09Speaker 2: super intelligence. Bernie Sanders has a bill to pause AI.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It's very dangerous. It could wipe us all out. This
- 22:17Speaker 2: bill would pause it. This is Bernie Sanders who doesn't
- 22:23Speaker 2: even know how to work his phone, who can't turn
- 22:25Speaker 2: on his computer, doesn't know anything about this. He still
- 22:29Speaker 2: has a VCR Blinken 12. He doesn't even know how
- 22:32Speaker 2: to fix that. This guy doesn't know anything about anything tech.
- 22:37Speaker 2: But he smells money and votes and donations and whatever
- 22:41Speaker 2: he smells here. And he's going to ban superintelligence. He's
- 22:45Speaker 2: got one other person to join in on this. this
- 22:49Speaker 2: stupid bill. Nobody's banning super intelligence or, or AI. Uh,
- 22:55Speaker 2: you know, and the other thing is if you made it,
- 22:56Speaker 2: first of all, if we stopped, if it's really that
- 22:58Speaker 2: dangerous that it could wipe out the whole world, why
- 23:01Speaker 2: would we want to stop and let China keep going
- 23:04Speaker 2: and become dominant in it? Why would we want it
- 23:06Speaker 2: totally controlled by China? We have to, we're ahead of
- 23:09Speaker 2: China right now, way ahead of them in AI. And
- 23:12Speaker 2: we better stay that way if, uh, AI is that
- 23:14Speaker 2: dangerous and you can't make an agreement with China. It's like, uh,
- 23:18Speaker 2: when you tried to make these nuclear agreements, you can't
- 23:21Speaker 2: police it. You know, they'll, they'll swear not to have
- 23:23Speaker 2: more than this number of nuclear weapons, but then they
- 23:26Speaker 2: do it anyway. And with AI, it would be even
- 23:28Speaker 2: harder to know what they're doing. So there's no way
- 23:31Speaker 2: to make an AI agreement for them to slow down.
- 23:34Speaker 2: You'd never know what they're actually doing. Well, we'll get
- 23:37Speaker 2: back to this. We can take some calls later. The
- 23:39Speaker 2: phones are back and they're, and they're working. Mark Simone here,
- 23:43Speaker 2: three hours every day, nine to noon. On 710WOR. Mark Simone.
- 23:49Speaker 8: Mr.
- 23:49Speaker 10: New York.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon.
- 23:55Speaker 2: On 710WOR. Well, hey, this UN week has just been awful, disruptive,
- 24:04Speaker 2: screwing up everybody in New York City. Not just the traffic,
- 24:07Speaker 2: but pedestrians, too. All these road closures, sidewalk closures, street closures. Today,
- 24:13Speaker 2: Netanyahu speaks at the UN. That's a very big, big day.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So that'll mean a lot of tie-ups, a lot of security.
- 24:19Speaker 2: But then it'll start to ease up a little tomorrow.
- 24:22Speaker 2: And then they got this UN week next week, but
- 24:24Speaker 2: it's different. It won't be the world leaders. They'll be
- 24:27Speaker 2: leaving over the weekend. By Monday, most of them will
- 24:29Speaker 2: be gone. So you'll still have UN activity, but not
- 24:32Speaker 2: the massive street closures and sidewalks closed. If you might
- 24:39Speaker 2: have been standing in the right spot where they got
- 24:42Speaker 2: all the barriers up and you can't cross the street.
- 24:44Speaker 2: And if you actually saw the presidential motorcade come by,
- 24:49Speaker 2: it's something to watch, almost ludicrous kind of. It's like
- 24:54Speaker 2: literally 50 motorcycles in a formation coming down the street.
- 24:58Speaker 2: And then after that, a bunch of big black SUVs
- 25:01Speaker 2: with all kinds of flashing lights. And then the presidential limousine,
- 25:05Speaker 2: the beast. It's an incredible car, but it's not just
- 25:09Speaker 2: one beast, three of them. Three of them in a
- 25:13Speaker 2: row come by. I guess that's because that way you're
- 25:16Speaker 2: not sure exactly which one he's in. But if you look,
- 25:19Speaker 2: you can see which one he's in. And then followed
- 25:22Speaker 2: by a lot of black SUVs, followed by two ambulances,
- 25:26Speaker 2: followed by cars with all kinds of weapons and Stinger
- 25:30Speaker 2: missiles on top of them. It's an amazing thing to watch.
- 25:32Speaker 2: But we should be easing up a little tomorrow, which
- 25:37Speaker 2: is Friday, and then by Monday should be much, much better. Hey,
- 25:40Speaker 2: let's take some calls. Let's go to Jerry in Delaware. Jerry,
- 25:43Speaker 2: how you doing? Hey, good morning, Mark. Yes, Jerry.
- 25:48Speaker 11: Hey, yesterday I heard you talk about the New Yorkers
- 25:53Speaker 11: moving to Delaware.
- 25:53Speaker 2: They're all moving to Delaware.
- 25:56Speaker 11: Yeah, well, they moved down here and they're not happy.
- 26:00Speaker 2: All right, now listen, once they all get there, you
- 26:02Speaker 2: can't keep talking like this. You can't be calm and
- 26:05Speaker 2: you're going to have to go, how are you? And
- 26:06Speaker 2: you're going to have to talk faster and... and shove
- 26:10Speaker 2: and push everybody. Can you handle that?
- 26:13Speaker 11: Uh, I mean, it's nice, but, uh, they really been, uh,
- 26:17Speaker 11: building houses like crazy here. Like these elements, 300, 500,000
- 26:21Speaker 11: or 300 homes, 500 homes. Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 2: So in case anybody doesn't know Delaware, it's like the
- 26:28Speaker 2: number one place seniors are moving to from New York.
- 26:31Speaker 2: It's like, What is it? You have low taxes there
- 26:33Speaker 2: or no taxes, no state tax?
- 26:35Speaker 11: Yeah, it's like no sales tax. On some things, there's
- 26:38Speaker 11: like your car and stuff, you have tax on that.
- 26:41Speaker 11: But the problem is they put these gigantic developments in,
- 26:46Speaker 11: and the east-west roads here are only two lanes.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, see, that's the other thing. They do that
- 26:52Speaker 2: in Austin, Texas, right over there in New Jersey. They
- 26:56Speaker 2: built a million skyscrapers along the water. But all they
- 26:59Speaker 2: got is River Road. They forgot to add some roads.
- 27:01Speaker 2: So you got that problem, too.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 11: So, I mean, we moved down here from Jersey in 2011. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 11: But we're used to traffic. And a New Yorker should
- 27:13Speaker 11: be used to traffic.
- 27:15Speaker 2: What made you pick Delaware? What made you pick Delaware?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Just because it was cheaper in Delaware, easier?
- 27:20Speaker 11: Yeah, we were retiring.
- 27:24Speaker 2: And what is there to do in Delaware?
- 27:27Speaker 11: Oh, you got the beaches.
- 27:29Speaker 2: You got golf. Okay. That's the summer. What do you
- 27:32Speaker 2: do in the winter there?
- 27:33Speaker 11: Well, actually, I play golf all winter pretty much. As
- 27:37Speaker 11: long as it's 30 degrees, I'll play.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I'm just saying, look where I'm sitting right now. Right now.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Look where I'm sitting. It's like 200 feet away. I
- 27:44Speaker 2: got Carnegie Hall. Right over there, I got the greatest
- 27:46Speaker 2: shopping in the world. There's Bergdorf. There's this. There's that.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Right over that way, there's Broadway. Surrounding us are hundreds
- 27:52Speaker 2: of the hottest restaurants. What do you do in Delaware?
- 27:56Speaker 11: Yeah, it is a travel. You've got to go north.
- 28:00Speaker 2: How far is Philadelphia from here?
- 28:04Speaker 11: It's about a two-hour ride.
- 28:06Speaker 2: That's not so close.
- 28:08Speaker 11: We're down in Lewis. Sorry you jumped to Cape May.
- 28:12Speaker 11: That's some of our stuff.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I'm glad you moved to Delaware. I hate to break
- 28:17Speaker 2: it to you. You sound like a beaten man. You
- 28:18Speaker 2: sound totally defeated by Delaware.
- 28:21Speaker 11: Now we're... I'm thinking of moving south to North Carolina
- 28:25Speaker 11: or South Carolina.
- 28:27Speaker 2: All right. Thanks for calling. Good call, Jerry. See, I'm
- 28:30Speaker 2: just telling you, that's what happens when you leave New York.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I bet you I talked to this guy 10 years
- 28:34Speaker 2: ago in New Jersey. He'd call up and go, hey,
- 28:36Speaker 2: how are you? Move to Delaware.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Hello.
- 28:41Speaker 2: It wears you down. Same thing with Florida. I know
- 28:44Speaker 2: guys that moved to Florida. They were like media guys
- 28:46Speaker 2: here in New York. You could call them up and
- 28:48Speaker 2: tell them a million things. They go, okay, yeah, right. Okay,
- 28:50Speaker 2: I'm going to write them. I'm like, Now you call
- 28:52Speaker 2: him in Florida. You tell him one thing. What did
- 28:55Speaker 2: you say? You slow down when you leave New York.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Let's go to Mike in Florida. He's an exception. Mike
- 29:03Speaker 2: in Florida, how are you doing?
- 29:05Speaker 12: Good morning, Mark. You're absolutely right about slowing down. If
- 29:10Speaker 12: I say... If I talk to somebody and I put
- 29:12Speaker 12: out more than two thoughts to them, they're completely baffled
- 29:15Speaker 12: and confused.
- 29:16Speaker 2: It happens.
- 29:17Speaker 12: It's incredible.
- 29:18Speaker 2: There's another media guy, big media guy. I don't want
- 29:20Speaker 2: to mention any names, but I used to watch this
- 29:22Speaker 2: guy cross the street. He'd go in and out of
- 29:23Speaker 2: the cars. He'd walk right over the car. He'd boom, boom,
- 29:25Speaker 2: and cross it. Last time he visited, he couldn't cross
- 29:28Speaker 2: the street. He goes, oh, oh, oh, all these cars.
- 29:31Speaker 2: He was afraid of them.
- 29:33Speaker 12: You know, it's funny. I still walk that way down here,
- 29:35Speaker 12: and I walk after dinner every night. I walk through
- 29:40Speaker 12: a mall, a shopping center, out to a shopping center.
- 29:43Speaker 12: And I walk through the parking lot, and people will
- 29:45Speaker 12: come to a stop and not move until I've gone
- 29:48Speaker 12: into a store or something. They're terrified to see. And
- 29:51Speaker 12: I said, look, I dodged cabs in Manhattan for 50 years.
- 29:54Speaker 8: You're not going to hit me.
- 29:55Speaker 12: Believe me. You're not going to get me. I promise you.
- 29:58Speaker 2: But you know, the way they drive down there, if
- 30:00Speaker 2: they hit you, it wouldn't hurt. They drive like two
- 30:02Speaker 2: miles anyway.
- 30:03Speaker 13: Exactly.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 30:05Speaker 12: And then I could convince them that they didn't actually
- 30:07Speaker 12: hit me. So it was even, it was even, it's
- 30:09Speaker 12: even better. But you know, you talked about the affordability.
- 30:12Speaker 12: And when I moved into Manhattan more than 50, almost
- 30:15Speaker 12: 50 years ago, I was living in a studio apartment
- 30:18Speaker 12: on 88th street. I was paying three 50 a month.
- 30:20Speaker 12: I couldn't afford it. Everything was, you know, everything was
- 30:22Speaker 12: still relatively expensive. I mean, if you go, and if
- 30:25Speaker 12: you go back to a, You watch.
- 30:26Speaker 2: An old movie. Wait a minute. $ 350, 000 back then, that's
- 30:30Speaker 2: the equivalent of $ 3, 500, 000 now.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:33Speaker 12: Exactly.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 30:36Speaker 12: But I wasn't making what they're making now either. If
- 30:40Speaker 12: I was making $ 25, 000 a year, it would be a lot.
- 30:42Speaker 12: I couldn't afford anything. Pizza was only $ 0. 50 a slice,
- 30:48Speaker 12: but it's not like I could eat out every night.
- 30:51Speaker 12: It's expensive down here in Florida, by the way, other
- 30:55Speaker 12: than housing. It's very expensive to live. You know, food
- 30:58Speaker 12: is expensive. Drinks are expensive.
- 31:00Speaker 2: But in those days, back then, way back down on
- 31:03Speaker 2: the Upper East Side, it was quite the swinging place.
- 31:05Speaker 2: It was all singles.
- 31:06Speaker 3: It was great.
- 31:07Speaker 2: A lot of action there. Remember all those bars and
- 31:09Speaker 2: all those places?
- 31:10Speaker 12: A million bars on 2nd and 3rd Avenue.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 31:13Speaker 12: It was nothing but.
- 31:16Speaker 2: The hottest women, nothing but action. Now you go to
- 31:18Speaker 2: those neighborhoods, they're all 80. How about you? It turns
- 31:22Speaker 2: out it's the same exact women. They never moved.
- 31:25Speaker 12: And they're all sitting in the bar with their dogs now.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they all got a dog. How are you? But, well, anyway,
- 31:36Speaker 2: you're happy you moved to Florida, aren't you?
- 31:39Speaker 12: I'll be back in Manhattan before I die. You see?
- 31:42Speaker 3: I told you.
- 31:44Speaker 2: You'll all be back, every one of you in Florida.
- 31:46Speaker 2: You'll be back.
- 31:48Speaker 12: Look, you know, it's just, everything was convenient. When I
- 31:51Speaker 12: left Manhattan, everything was a block away. The supermarket. You know, everything,
- 31:56Speaker 12: you know, the bagel shop, the pizza place. My doctor
- 31:58Speaker 12: was that, you know, the subway was a block away
- 32:00Speaker 12: on 86th Street. It was great. I didn't have to hear.
- 32:03Speaker 12: You have to get in the car and schlep everywhere
- 32:05Speaker 12: you go.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And their life now is driving and circling around the
- 32:08Speaker 2: mall looking for a parking space. That's your life now.
- 32:10Speaker 12: That's what it's like. That's what it is.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Thanks for calling, Mike. I don't mean to put down Florida.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I know we have a lot of listeners in Florida
- 32:19Speaker 2: always writing me, stop putting down Florida. I'm just being
- 32:21Speaker 2: realistic here. If you live in New York City, Appreciate
- 32:25Speaker 2: where you live.
- 32:25Speaker 12: It's great.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Hey, we got a lot coming up. I'm here three
- 32:28Speaker 2: hours every day, nine to noon every day, nine to noon.
- 32:32Speaker 2: And then at noon, you got Buck Saxton and Clay Travis.
- 32:34Speaker 2: They do a wonderful show every day at noon. Then
- 32:36Speaker 2: you got the most listened to radio show in America,
- 32:39Speaker 2: Sean Hannity. You got Jesse Kelly at six. You got
- 32:42Speaker 2: the very funny Jimmy Fela at nine o'clock. In fact,
- 32:46Speaker 2: he'll be with us later in the show here. On 710WOR.
- 32:50Speaker 14: More Mark.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Mr.
- 32:53Speaker 10: New York.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon.
- 32:58Speaker 2: On 710WOR.
- 32:58Speaker 10: Hey, it's only 55 degrees right now.
- 33:00Speaker 3: 55.
- 33:00Speaker 12: That's it.
- 33:01Speaker 2: That's a.
- 33:08Speaker 2: We'll get to the fall and all that coming up.
- 33:10Speaker 2: A lot to talk about right after the news.
- 33:12Speaker 11: 710WOR.
- 33:13Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Well, hey, if you just joined us, you missed the
- 33:23Speaker 2: first hour. Remember, it's 9 to noon every day. Three hours,
- 33:26Speaker 2: 9 to noon every day. It's cold out. It's 56
- 33:30Speaker 2: degrees out right now. It's cold out. Did you see
- 33:33Speaker 2: President Trump greeting President Xi at the... at the airport there,
- 33:39Speaker 2: you notice he was wearing his overcoat. I don't mean
- 33:42Speaker 2: a little thin raincoat. I mean, a heavy cashmere overcoat
- 33:46Speaker 2: and the president had gloves on and that's in Washington, DC.
- 33:51Speaker 2: That's a far, far South of here. It's cold out today.
- 33:56Speaker 2: It's fall out. If you haven't been out yet, you're
- 33:59Speaker 2: going to need an overcoat today. So we got a
- 34:02Speaker 2: lot to talk about. I just heard that on the news,
- 34:03Speaker 2: Starbucks closing today. 400 locations. It sounds like they're in
- 34:08Speaker 2: real trouble. Oh, my God. They're closing 400 locations. Well,
- 34:12Speaker 2: it's not that bad, actually. They have 18,000. It's less
- 34:14Speaker 2: than 1%. It's 18,000 stores. Now, we're going to open,
- 34:18Speaker 2: while they're closing 300, they're opening 600, although they've changed
- 34:21Speaker 2: that number now to 450. 450 will open. The reason
- 34:23Speaker 2: they close them, they're underperforming stores. And it's It's not
- 34:36Speaker 2: really a reflection on Starbucks. It's a reflection on those
- 34:38Speaker 2: communities that couldn't support the Starbucks. It costs a lot
- 34:41Speaker 2: of money to close them down. They're going to spend
- 34:45Speaker 2: about $ 300 million in restructuring charges. But again, 18,000 Starbucks
- 34:51Speaker 2: all over the place. You know, I saw this story
- 34:52Speaker 2: in the news about poor Ed Sheeran. All the controversy.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran lost 500,000 Instagram followers over Macklemore. He lost 500,000.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Sounds terrible, doesn't it? Well, wait a minute. His Instagram
- 35:10Speaker 2: is 47.6 million. So now it's 47.2 million. It's not
- 35:17Speaker 2: exactly a big loss. That's like a million to 1%.
- 35:23Speaker 2: 47.6 million Instagram followers. All right, I'm trying to beat
- 35:27Speaker 2: him on Instagram with followers. Go follow me right now
- 35:30Speaker 2: at Instagram. Mark Simone, NYC at Instagram. If you're not
- 35:34Speaker 2: following me on Instagram, go to my Instagram and click follow.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Mark Simone, NYC at Instagram. So they're in panic at CNN.
- 35:47Speaker 2: They are really in panic. The merger has gone through.
- 35:51Speaker 2: David Ellison and Paramount will take over Warner Brothers Discovery,
- 35:56Speaker 2: which owns a lot of stuff. It owns HBO News.
- 36:00Speaker 2: It's got CNN. It's got HBO Max. So they'll take
- 36:04Speaker 2: control of CNN. So these left-wing kooks over there convinced
- 36:10Speaker 2: themselves that everybody is a MAGA right-wing Republican. That's not
- 36:13Speaker 2: the case with David Ellison. They did this with Barry Weiss,
- 36:16Speaker 2: who's a Democrat, by the way, and comes from the
- 36:19Speaker 2: New York Times. She's not a Republican. But they were
- 36:22Speaker 2: all in panic. They're waiting for massive layoffs. Now, the
- 36:25Speaker 2: reason they should be in panic is CNN is a
- 36:28Speaker 2: ratings disaster. It's in last place in cable news. It
- 36:33Speaker 2: has a tiny audience. Anybody buying a company looking at
- 36:36Speaker 2: this would have to do something and turn this around
- 36:39Speaker 2: and fix it up. You can't leave it the way
- 36:40Speaker 2: it is. It's a ratings disaster. The guy that runs it,
- 36:44Speaker 2: look at this guy. He said, well, I'd like to stay.
- 36:47Speaker 2: You're in last place. You're a ratings disaster. Who the
- 36:50Speaker 2: hell would want to keep you? But here's what's really
- 36:52Speaker 2: got him panicked. Ellison is now talking about bringing in
- 36:56Speaker 2: Elon Musk. Now, they made this deal, Paramount to buy,
- 37:00Speaker 2: Warner Brothers Discovery, for $ 81 billion. $ 81 billion is what
- 37:07Speaker 2: they paid for this. Now, if you're David Ellison, how
- 37:10Speaker 2: did he get $ 81 billion? Well, he went to his father,
- 37:13Speaker 2: Larry Ellison, one of the great tech billionaires, and Larry
- 37:17Speaker 2: Ellison put up $ 40 billion of equity financing. $ 40 billion.
- 37:23Speaker 2: So they're carrying a lot of debt here. They owe
- 37:27Speaker 2: a lot of money on this. So they're talking to
- 37:30Speaker 2: Elon Musk about bringing him in and selling him $ 40
- 37:36Speaker 2: billion of the company. Or maybe $ 20 billion. But they
- 37:39Speaker 2: want him to become a major investor and a major partner. Now,
- 37:42Speaker 2: as you know, left-wing Democrats, the only thing they hate
- 37:46Speaker 2: more than Donald Trump... Oh, actually, Donald Trump would be
- 37:49Speaker 2: number one. But the next on the list would be
- 37:51Speaker 2: Elon Musk. They hate him. You remember Twitter was totally
- 37:55Speaker 2: left-wing biased. If you were a Trump... person even trump
- 38:00Speaker 2: himself you were banned from twitter literally banned talk about
- 38:05Speaker 2: freedom of speech first amendment if you were a republican
- 38:10Speaker 2: mega whatever you were banned literally banned imagine the president
- 38:14Speaker 2: states they ban you from twitter imagine you're the new
- 38:16Speaker 2: york post you're like the biggest newspaper in america you
- 38:19Speaker 2: get banned from twitter it was that bad so musk
- 38:22Speaker 2: bought it and uh Put back neutrality into it. Anybody,
- 38:27Speaker 2: you know, doesn't matter what side you're on, you're free
- 38:30Speaker 2: to use Twitter. So they don't want that at CNN.
- 38:33Speaker 2: That's the thing with Musk. He believes in, you know,
- 38:36Speaker 2: right down the middle, fairness, you know, present both sides.
- 38:39Speaker 2: And they don't like that at CNN. So they are
- 38:42Speaker 2: in absolute panic. They don't know what to do. They're
- 38:47Speaker 2: just going crazy at CNN. Now, they're also mad at
- 38:51Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom. who wants the support of them, but they're
- 38:56Speaker 2: mad at Gavin Newsom because he backed this Paramount deal,
- 39:00Speaker 2: this takeover. Now, there was a big settlement. All the
- 39:03Speaker 2: attorney generals got together and sued to block this merger.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So Ellison and Paramount had to make all kinds of concessions.
- 39:11Speaker 2: They agreed on all sorts of things, on how much
- 39:14Speaker 2: they would spend to keep it going. Part of the
- 39:17Speaker 2: deal was they had to agree to spend... A massive
- 39:21Speaker 2: figure making movies every year, make sure they were made
- 39:24Speaker 2: in America. They guaranteed opening 30 of those movies in
- 39:27Speaker 2: theaters to keep the theaters going. But in this agreement
- 39:31Speaker 2: with these attorneys general, they didn't put anything in about layoffs.
- 39:37Speaker 2: They're free to lay off anybody they want. They're free
- 39:39Speaker 2: to cut the company down to whatever size they want.
- 39:42Speaker 2: So if you thought your left-wing attorney generals were going
- 39:45Speaker 2: to protect you, they did not in this agreement. So
- 39:50Speaker 2: Benjamin Netanyahu today at the UN, it'll be a fiery speech.
- 39:54Speaker 2: He will let everybody have it. Mamdani and the anti-Semites
- 39:58Speaker 2: of the world, he will tell them off and expose them.
- 40:01Speaker 2: That's a good thing. He will stand up to the
- 40:03Speaker 2: awful anti-Semitic UN. He'll go after Iran. So it'll be
- 40:08Speaker 2: quite a speech. So far, the protesting is totally under
- 40:12Speaker 2: control for Netanyahu. We'll see what happens when he speaks
- 40:15Speaker 2: at the UN. And then he leaves after that. There's
- 40:19Speaker 2: a a couple of little gatherings, but then he'll leave.
- 40:21Speaker 2: He'll be out of town by tonight, which is good
- 40:24Speaker 2: because it's just, I mean, we love Netanyahu, but a
- 40:27Speaker 2: security nightmare having him here. You know that Palestinian protester,
- 40:33Speaker 2: Rachel Dalzal, whatever her name is. She's this Palestinian protester
- 40:39Speaker 2: who has been quite the activist, very anti-Israel. She's a
- 40:44Speaker 2: black Palestinian woman And she's been protesting about what happened
- 40:51Speaker 2: to her in Gaza and protesting Israel. It turns out
- 40:58Speaker 2: the whole thing's a lie. It turns out her real
- 41:01Speaker 2: name is Hannah Gahn. It turns out she's from the
- 41:04Speaker 2: suburbs of Philadelphia. It turns out she's not black. She's white.
- 41:09Speaker 2: And it turns out she's not Palestinian. She's actually Jewish
- 41:12Speaker 2: from the suburbs of Philadelphia. She's from a very upscale, posh,
- 41:17Speaker 2: suburb of Philadelphia. But this is a lot of who
- 41:21Speaker 2: this anti-Semitic crowd is. They're wealthy kids who went to
- 41:27Speaker 2: Ivy League schools, got totally brainwashed, got totally indoctrinated into
- 41:32Speaker 2: this anti-Semitic left-wing kooky crap. But yeah, she's from a
- 41:41Speaker 2: nice suburb of Philadelphia. Her parents later moved to Falls Church, Virginia.
- 41:46Speaker 2: of another posh suburb outside of D.C. So she just
- 41:50Speaker 2: lied about everything. It's all totally fake. Hey, Bruce Blakeman
- 41:54Speaker 2: doing very well in the real polls, the real ones,
- 41:59Speaker 2: the behind-the-scenes real polls. He's pretty much tied with Hochul.
- 42:03Speaker 2: You see all these attack ads against Blakeman. Hochul is
- 42:05Speaker 2: spending a fortune on attack ads against Hochul. That's good.
- 42:10Speaker 2: That's a good sign. That means she's in panic. So
- 42:14Speaker 2: when I tell you that behind the scenes in the
- 42:16Speaker 2: real polls, Blakeman is caught up, she has the real
- 42:19Speaker 2: polls too. And that's why she's spending a fortune on
- 42:23Speaker 2: these attack ads. Now, the problem is she's a little
- 42:27Speaker 2: too old school running TV commercials on TV at night. Well,
- 42:33Speaker 2: that's very few people. The battle is now won on
- 42:36Speaker 2: social media. Blakeman is much better on social media than
- 42:40Speaker 2: she is. Much better. But he's all over her, going
- 42:43Speaker 2: after her left and right.
- 42:44Speaker 15: Kathy Hochul is a doormat for Zoran Mondami. He's running
- 42:49Speaker 15: the Democratic Party now. He's calling the shots.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Yeah, so he's tying her to Mondami.
- 42:54Speaker 15: It's not a nine-point difference.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Yeah, the fake polls, the public polls, the fake ones,
- 42:59Speaker 2: deliberately rigged. But even they now have him within single digits.
- 43:04Speaker 2: And it's not nine points. They're statistically tied right now.
- 43:07Speaker 15: It's not a nine-point difference. The Siena poll is a
- 43:11Speaker 15: biased poll. It's a Fugazi poll. I've said it over
- 43:15Speaker 15: and over again, and history has shown that. I mean,
- 43:18Speaker 15: two weeks before the election, four years ago, they had
- 43:21Speaker 15: Zeldin 11 points down. So they were five and a
- 43:24Speaker 15: half points off. So this poll is completely bogus.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah, what they do in these public polls, they deliberately
- 43:31Speaker 2: rig them. They put Republicans at 23% of the sample
- 43:34Speaker 2: instead of 38%, where they should be. They don't use
- 43:38Speaker 2: likely voters. They use whoever the hell they want. They
- 43:41Speaker 2: call it adults. They pick who they want. They don't
- 43:45Speaker 2: use the right demos. It's ridiculous. Blakeman is very strong.
- 43:48Speaker 2: And this is the key to winning the race. Blakeman
- 43:50Speaker 2: is very strong with independence.
- 43:53Speaker 15: I have shown that I can be independent. Kathy Hochul
- 43:57Speaker 15: is a doormat for Zoran Mondami. He's running the Democratic
- 44:00Speaker 15: Party now. He's calling the shots.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Yeah, she lives in fear of Mondami. If he turns
- 44:05Speaker 2: on her, she can't win. She needs his support and
- 44:08Speaker 2: his crazy voters. That's the only way she wins. Here's
- 44:11Speaker 2: one of these crazy, this is a Hochul ad, I think.
- 44:13Speaker 14: Puppets are my life.
- 44:15Speaker 10: You tell them what to say, they say it.
- 44:17Speaker 2: No questions.
- 44:18Speaker 14: But that's not what you want in a governor. Bruce
- 44:21Speaker 14: Blakeman is 100% MAGA and stands with Trump on everything.
- 44:27Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. She's spending a fortune on attack ads,
- 44:31Speaker 2: attacking him for everything. But apparently this guy is as
- 44:35Speaker 2: clean as a whistle and he's got a phenomenal track
- 44:37Speaker 2: record because the only thing she found to attack him
- 44:40Speaker 2: on is he's friends with Donald Trump. He likes Donald Trump.
- 44:43Speaker 2: She can't find anything to attack him on. Nothing bad
- 44:47Speaker 2: happened while he was county executive. In fact, he did
- 44:50Speaker 2: a phenomenal job. There's nothing bad in his record. Nothing
- 44:53Speaker 2: bad with him personally. That's all she can hit him with,
- 44:56Speaker 2: that he's friends with Donald Trump. That's all she's got.
- 44:59Speaker 2: That's pretty pathetic. But help out Bruce Blakeman. You can
- 45:04Speaker 2: do it. You want to donate? You want to volunteer?
- 45:06Speaker 2: Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. BlakemanForNewYork.com. You know, it's funny speaking of donations.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Blakeman's ex-wife, Nancy, is married to Paul McCartney. And they
- 45:21Speaker 2: have a good relationship. Paul McCartney and Blakeman have a
- 45:24Speaker 2: good relationship. It's kind of odd. Your ex-wife marries a Beatle.
- 45:29Speaker 2: So his ex-wife, Nancy... just donated 18,000 to Kathy Hochul's campaign.
- 45:35Speaker 2: But don't take it as any reflection on Bruce Bligman.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I think she had to do that because she's married
- 45:40Speaker 2: to Paul McCartney. And Paul McCartney's a big Democrat. He
- 45:47Speaker 2: hates Trump. He's not a fan of any Republican. So
- 45:54Speaker 2: that's just automatic that if you're married to Paul McCartney,
- 45:57Speaker 2: you're going to be making You're going to be making
- 46:00Speaker 2: Democratic donations. Now, McCartney, you know, and the money might
- 46:04Speaker 2: be actually from McCartney. Well, why didn't he donate it?
- 46:07Speaker 2: He can't. He's a British citizen. He's not a U.S. citizen.
- 46:11Speaker 2: So he's barred from donating to campaigns. But again, he really,
- 46:16Speaker 2: really is anti-Trump. So that explains that pretty fast. Netanyahu
- 46:22Speaker 2: speaks today at the U.N. Alan Dershowitz will be there.
- 46:25Speaker 2: He's Netanyahu's attorney. He'll be there today. And Dershowitz, he
- 46:31Speaker 2: might be helping the Trump legal case against the press.
- 46:36Speaker 2: This judge yesterday put in a restraining order. Trump banned
- 46:41Speaker 2: some crazy left-wing networks, Politico and CNN and MSNOW from
- 46:47Speaker 2: the White House. A judge has ruled against that ban.
- 46:50Speaker 2: He's put a stay on the ban. He's put a
- 46:54Speaker 2: stop to that ban for at least 14 days. What
- 46:57Speaker 2: that means is the judge thinks the press may have
- 47:00Speaker 2: a good case. So he's put the ban on hold
- 47:03Speaker 2: for 14 days. And then they go back into court.
- 47:06Speaker 2: But Dershowitz argues that Trump has every right under the
- 47:09Speaker 2: First Amendment to ban outlets from the White House. And
- 47:12Speaker 2: this has nothing to do with freedom of speech. They're
- 47:14Speaker 2: free to speak all they want, these networks. Nobody's restricting
- 47:17Speaker 2: their speech. They're just restricting physically what rooms they can
- 47:21Speaker 2: go into. But it's not like when Trump was kicked
- 47:24Speaker 2: off Twitter and all social media. That would be a
- 47:27Speaker 2: First Amendment issue. They removed him from the platform so
- 47:31Speaker 2: he couldn't speak. Trump is not shutting down Politico. He's
- 47:35Speaker 2: not shutting down CNN or MSNOW. They're free to do
- 47:39Speaker 2: whatever the hell they want. And since the ban was
- 47:41Speaker 2: in effect, they're covering Trump the same exact amount 24-7.
- 47:46Speaker 2: But Dershowitz, brilliant lawyer, he may be the one going
- 47:50Speaker 2: into court arguing this. Hey, Rosie O'Donnell? You remember she
- 47:55Speaker 2: filled in for Jimmy Kimmel? on ABC, Kimmel taking the
- 48:00Speaker 2: whole summer off. She filled in for him. And, of course,
- 48:04Speaker 2: she went after Trump every night. But there was one
- 48:06Speaker 2: skit she said ABC forced her to drop it. She
- 48:10Speaker 2: said she was going to do, she's on a podcast,
- 48:13Speaker 2: she was going to do a takeoff on the song
- 48:16Speaker 2: Danny Boy, but go after Trump. It was going to
- 48:19Speaker 2: be called Donny Boy, and it was some kind of anti-Trump.
- 48:22Speaker 2: She says the network killed it. The network said, we
- 48:24Speaker 2: don't want you to do that. She thinks it was
- 48:27Speaker 2: because there's a lawsuit between Trump and ABC going on.
- 48:30Speaker 2: But the key to this is she's on a podcast
- 48:34Speaker 2: going after ABC, attacking them. So what we really learned
- 48:39Speaker 2: from this is she filled in for a few days
- 48:43Speaker 2: for Kimmel on ABC. She thinks it went great. She
- 48:48Speaker 2: thinks she was a big hit. But obviously, if she's
- 48:51Speaker 2: now attacking them, ABC and her agents, whoever, Apparently, ABC
- 48:57Speaker 2: said to them, yeah, thanks for filling. We don't need
- 48:59Speaker 2: you anymore. Not interested. If it was really good, they
- 49:04Speaker 2: would have started talking to her about a show, about
- 49:06Speaker 2: doing something. Let's work together. Apparently, they didn't like what
- 49:10Speaker 2: she did. They didn't like her. Apparently, the ratings stunk
- 49:14Speaker 2: because they're not interested in anything else with Rosie O'Donnell.
- 49:17Speaker 2: You can be sure that's the case if she's suddenly
- 49:19Speaker 2: going public. attacking ABC. And what the hell is she
- 49:22Speaker 2: doing here? I thought she left the country. You promised
- 49:27Speaker 2: you were leaving the country. All of a sudden, she's
- 49:29Speaker 2: all over the place again. Anyway, the phones are fixed.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Remember yesterday we had no phones? The phones are fixed.
- 49:37Speaker 2: We can take some calls. We'll do that next. 800-321-0710
- 49:39Speaker 2: is the number. 800-321-0710. Now, much more Mark. Mark Simone. Now,
- 49:43Speaker 2: 9 till noon weekdays. On 710WOR. Well, we'll take some calls.
- 49:47Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 49:50Speaker 10: As I mentioned, the judge ruled.
- 49:54Speaker 14: The president cannot ban those networks.
- 50:06Speaker 2: From the White House. The local left-wing D.C. judge ruled
- 50:11Speaker 2: he cannot ban them from the White House. So it
- 50:15Speaker 2: turns out, look at this, this morning he banned them
- 50:17Speaker 2: from the White House. That's interesting. Well, what's the judge
- 50:21Speaker 2: going to do about it? We'll see. This will get interesting.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Let's take some calls. Let's go to Stephen from Glendale. Stephen,
- 50:28Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 50:30Speaker 12: Okay, sir.
- 50:32Speaker 16: I'm a first-time caller, but I've always been listening to
- 50:36Speaker 16: you or Rush Lombard. But the thing is, the reason
- 50:44Speaker 16: why they're not closing the manhole covers is because they're
- 50:51Speaker 16: looking for a hit. And all these people that are
- 50:55Speaker 16: going into the manhole covers, they catch them, they let
- 50:59Speaker 16: them go. Well, what's the worst that can happen to them?
- 51:02Speaker 2: I love how you make up these explanations. You just
- 51:04Speaker 2: make up this is why they're doing it. That's it.
- 51:07Speaker 2: All right. It's official. It's come from Steven. That's the reason.
- 51:12Speaker 2: All right, Steven. Thanks for calling. What he's talking about,
- 51:16Speaker 2: the lowest level of criminals, they open up a manhole cover.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Those things on the street. First of all, I don't
- 51:23Speaker 2: even know how strong you have to be to open
- 51:25Speaker 2: those manhole covers. But they open them up, and three
- 51:28Speaker 2: or four of them go down there, and they go
- 51:31Speaker 2: through the sewers. And what they're doing is they're looking
- 51:33Speaker 2: for stuff down there because, believe it or not, things
- 51:37Speaker 2: fall through those sewer grates, and they're down there. They
- 51:39Speaker 2: find bracelets. They find rings. They've found iPhones. I mean,
- 51:43Speaker 2: you've got to hunt through a lot of crap to
- 51:48Speaker 2: find this stuff, but that's what they do. And they're
- 51:51Speaker 2: down there going for blocks and blocks in the sewers,
- 51:54Speaker 2: picking up stuff, and they come up. with these bags
- 51:57Speaker 2: filled with this stuff. And you obviously got to wash
- 52:01Speaker 2: it a million times. And I guess they resell this
- 52:03Speaker 2: stuff or hawk it. But the police don't seem to
- 52:08Speaker 2: be doing much about it. Now, there are some people saying,
- 52:11Speaker 2: because yesterday they were caught going down a manhole cover
- 52:16Speaker 2: right next to Netanyahu's hotel, the Regency. And there are
- 52:20Speaker 2: some people in law enforcement saying, you know what? They
- 52:23Speaker 2: should grab these guys as they come out of the
- 52:24Speaker 2: manhole cover. and have the anti-terrorism task force interrogate them.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I mean, they're just low-level criminals working for gangs. But
- 52:33Speaker 2: somebody should look at that aspect of it before they
- 52:35Speaker 2: just let them go next time. Let's go to Don
- 52:38Speaker 2: in Long Island. Don, how you doing?
- 52:41Speaker 12: Hey, how you doing, Mark?
- 52:42Speaker 3: Great.
- 52:42Speaker 8: I was wondering, have you heard those weird.
- 52:45Speaker 12: Stories about the Carnegie Deli, about the five people that
- 52:48Speaker 12: got shot above the Carnegie?
- 52:50Speaker 2: I think there was one shooting once. And it has
- 52:55Speaker 2: nothing to do with the Carnegie Deli whatsoever.
- 52:57Speaker 12: Well, I know they had nothing to do with it.
- 52:59Speaker 2: The Carnegie used to be in a building that had
- 53:02Speaker 2: apartments on some of the floors, and there was something
- 53:04Speaker 2: going on in one of the apartments.
- 53:06Speaker 11: Five people got shot.
- 53:09Speaker 2: I'm not sure, but I don't think it was five people.
- 53:11Speaker 2: I think it was one. But it was something. Look online.
- 53:15Speaker 12: Another story.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Okay, but it has nothing to do with the Carnegie Deli.
- 53:19Speaker 2: No connection to the Carnegie in any way.
- 53:21Speaker 12: Did you know the co-owner, Sandy Levine?
- 53:23Speaker 3: Of course.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Well, Sandy Levine came later. The real owners were Milton
- 53:27Speaker 2: Parker and Leo Steiner, of course, legendary Leo Steiner. Milton
- 53:32Speaker 2: Parker was the owner. And then the daughter of Milton
- 53:34Speaker 2: Parker at one point married this guy, Sandy Levine. So
- 53:38Speaker 2: he wasn't really a co-owner. He just married the daughter.
- 53:40Speaker 2: And he was a terrible guy.
- 53:42Speaker 12: Did you hear the story with him?
- 53:43Speaker 2: Terrible guy. He's dead now. And she'll be the first
- 53:47Speaker 2: to tell you he was a terrible guy. He was
- 53:48Speaker 2: going out with the waitress there. He was going out
- 53:50Speaker 2: with the waitress. He was giving away the recipes. He
- 53:53Speaker 2: was a terrible guy.
- 53:54Speaker 8: Exactly, yeah.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Yeah, awful guy. He's dead now.
- 53:57Speaker 12: I figured you'd know that. You're Mr. New York after all.
- 53:59Speaker 8: Did you get a sandwich named after you there?
- 54:01Speaker 2: I used to have one named after me. The new version,
- 54:03Speaker 2: in the old days, they had sandwiches named after people.
- 54:07Speaker 2: They don't really do that now. I think there's only one,
- 54:09Speaker 2: the Broadway Daniel Rose. But somewhere in my picture's on
- 54:12Speaker 2: the wall. You've got to go through 8,000 pictures.
- 54:15Speaker 12: Ha, ha, ha. I've got to check it out. I
- 54:17Speaker 12: haven't been there in years.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Well, it's open to the public. You can just walk
- 54:21Speaker 2: in anytime.
- 54:23Speaker 12: Yeah, definitely. I'm going to hit it.
- 54:25Speaker 2: I've got to check it out.
- 54:26Speaker 8: Go in there.
- 54:27Speaker 2: It's open. Go take a look. Try the cheesecake. It
- 54:31Speaker 2: is phenomenal. And, of course, the legendary pastrami on rye.
- 54:36Speaker 2: It's reopened now. Marion Harper, daughter of Milton Parker, her
- 54:41Speaker 2: daughter is Sari Harper. She's now running the place. It's phenomenal.
- 54:46Speaker 2: The only thing missing, in fact, this is a new location.
- 54:49Speaker 2: It's a block away. It's where the stage cell was.
- 54:51Speaker 2: It's got windows. It's bright and light. It's really, it's
- 54:54Speaker 2: actually a better location. The only problem is they don't
- 54:58Speaker 2: have the old grumpy old waiters. You know, those big
- 55:02Speaker 2: heavy old waiters. They're all named Herb. And they go,
- 55:05Speaker 2: what do you want? What do you want? Whatever you'd order.
- 55:06Speaker 2: You'd order 6,000 things.
- 55:07Speaker 17: What else?
- 55:08Speaker 2: What else? Now they're all young with nice personalities. So
- 55:13Speaker 2: that part is missing, but. Hey, when we come back,
- 55:15Speaker 2: the hunt for Steve Moore. We'll see if we can
- 55:18Speaker 2: find Steve Moore. I think he'll be with us next
- 55:20Speaker 2: on 710WOR. Let's get the latest news. Here's Daria Alden.
- 55:25Speaker 14: I'm not letting you off the hook that easy. What
- 55:27Speaker 14: was on that sandwich?
- 55:28Speaker 2: Pastrami on rye.
- 55:30Speaker 14: That was named after you?
- 55:31Speaker 2: Oh, the one named after me?
- 55:32Speaker 14: I was going to say, that's every sandwich there.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I've got to be honest. I don't remember. You know,
- 55:36Speaker 2: every time they name a sandwich after you, it's never
- 55:38Speaker 2: anything you'd actually eat.
- 55:41Speaker 14: I was going to say I would order it. I'd
- 55:42Speaker 14: ask for it next time I go there.
- 55:44Speaker 2: I was in a restaurant in Garden City once. They
- 55:45Speaker 2: had the Nelson DeMille sandwich. It was the worst thing.
- 55:48Speaker 2: I called him up. I said, do you actually eat this?
- 55:50Speaker 2: He goes, what? That's what they named it.
- 55:52Speaker 14: It's the Mark Simone Show.
- 55:54Speaker 10: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Well, Steve Moore, the brilliant economist, bestselling author. What? Nobody
- 56:07Speaker 2: told me that. Forget what I just said. Take two. Hey,
- 56:12Speaker 2: with us right now, the brilliant comedian, Jimmy Fela, of course,
- 56:17Speaker 2: who is on WOR every night at 9 o'clock, 9 p.m.
- 56:23Speaker 2: to midnight. Jimmy Fela. You got to listen to him.
- 56:26Speaker 2: It's a great show. And then he does the best
- 56:28Speaker 2: late-night show in television. That's Saturday nights at 10 o'clock
- 56:33Speaker 2: on the Fox News Channel. And, hey, also, he's going
- 56:36Speaker 2: to be appearing. He's doing a great night of comedy,
- 56:39Speaker 2: Kuchina Kalandra. in Fairfield, New Jersey, October 28th. But get
- 56:45Speaker 2: the tickets now because it can sell out fast. Go
- 56:47Speaker 2: to 710WOR. com slash Jimmy. Jimmy Fela, how you doing?
- 56:54Speaker 8: Yeah, you know what, man? Definitely not a brilliant economist.
- 56:58Speaker 8: So thanks for cleaning up that intro.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Well, I was told you guys were going to switch
- 57:02Speaker 2: time periods at some point. I didn't know it was
- 57:04Speaker 2: this week.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Yes, but.
- 57:07Speaker 8: I don't know that Steve Moore took my route to prosperity.
- 57:10Speaker 8: I invested most of my money in blackjack and flash dancers. And,
- 57:15Speaker 8: of course, the rest of it I wasted.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Well, you never know about that Steve Moore. He may
- 57:20Speaker 2: have put some money in there, too. You never know.
- 57:25Speaker 8: It's too funny. Nothing like an investment strategy that pays
- 57:28Speaker 8: in singles. But anyway.
- 57:31Speaker 2: So, hey, explain this U.N.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Week.
- 57:33Speaker 2: What is the purpose of this? What the hell do
- 57:35Speaker 2: they do with that U.N.
- 57:37Speaker 8: Holy hell. You know, it's so funny because I watched,
- 57:42Speaker 8: you know, Millay, you know, kind of read them their
- 57:44Speaker 8: truth yesterday the way Trump did. They basically just come
- 57:48Speaker 8: here and shake us down and shag high-priced call girls.
- 57:52Speaker 2: I mean, honestly.
- 57:54Speaker 8: I'm trying to dress it up, but I mean, as
- 57:56Speaker 8: a former cab driver myself, this is the Super Bowl
- 58:00Speaker 8: of cab driving because the only passengers you're picking up
- 58:03Speaker 8: are women you actually have a shot with, if the
- 58:06Speaker 8: money's right. You normally, as a cab driver, don't have
- 58:10Speaker 8: a shot with any woman who looks like the ones
- 58:12Speaker 8: during UN week. But during UN week, you're both.
- 58:15Speaker 3: On the clock.
- 58:16Speaker 8: So everybody, a dollar and a dream, as the old
- 58:19Speaker 8: lottery commercial goes.
- 58:21Speaker 2: And that's it. If you're a cab driver, you can't
- 58:25Speaker 2: get anywhere. It's a traffic nightmare. It's the worst gridlock ever.
- 58:27Speaker 8: A nightmare. Yeah. Most veteran cabbies actually don't work this week.
- 58:32Speaker 8: If you notice, a lot of younger guys who haven't,
- 58:35Speaker 8: you know, gotten that little baptism by fire, if you will,
- 58:37Speaker 8: you figure it out. Everybody works the UN week once.
- 58:40Speaker 8: Nobody I know works it twice. You know, again, except
- 58:44Speaker 8: the escorts. But the point is, all of these UN
- 58:47Speaker 8: coalitions that were all formed in a post-World War II
- 58:52Speaker 8: world where we were helping rebuild everybody and we were
- 58:54Speaker 8: picking up the tab for everything going on in Europe...
- 58:57Speaker 8: have kind of just run their course now. And the
- 59:00Speaker 8: only real value in UN week for Americans is to
- 59:03Speaker 8: watch Trump show up, do his little you know, Don
- 59:06Speaker 8: Rickles act, and they just sit there like a cat
- 59:09Speaker 8: getting a bath.
- 59:11Speaker 18: It's my favorite thing in the world.
- 59:12Speaker 8: You know, you just watch these people shrivel up and
- 59:15Speaker 8: their posture's terrible and they're all scowling.
- 59:18Speaker 3: That's UN week.
- 59:19Speaker 8: It peaked for me with the Trump speech and I
- 59:21Speaker 8: stopped watching after that.
- 59:25Speaker 2: Explain the Donald Trump personality. He's a great businessman and leader,
- 59:30Speaker 2: but he's also, you're right, he's Don Rickles. He's Howard Stern.
- 59:33Speaker 2: He doesn't care where he is or how formal it is.
- 59:36Speaker 2: He'll make jokes, tell you off. As a comedian, how
- 59:39Speaker 2: do you think he does doing that?
- 59:42Speaker 8: Well, this is where he's good, okay? As a comic,
- 59:45Speaker 8: you're really not supposed to read the room. You're supposed
- 59:48Speaker 8: to lead the room. You're the guy in charge. I
- 59:50Speaker 8: say that all the time. Now, as president, you're not
- 59:53Speaker 8: quite a comic, so in theory, you might want to
- 59:56Speaker 8: read the room, but Trump doesn't. I mean, don't ever forget,
- 59:59Speaker 8: he told a Pearl Harbor joke in front of the
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: prime minister of Japan. That is the funniest thing in
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: the world. That is not a guy who is mindful
- 1:00:07Speaker 8: of his surroundings when he starts telling jokes, so.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: You know, I don't know that everybody loves it on
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: the world stage, but it's great entertainment for us.
- 1:00:15Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Hey, Jimmy Fallon, explain that again, because there's people listening.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Maybe they got to make a speech now and then.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: So don't read the room, lead the room. How do
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: you do that?
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: Well, if you're a speaker, OK, whether you're a comic,
- 1:00:28Speaker 8: whether you're given a speech, you know, some type of
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: an event, banquet, whatever the case may be, you are
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: in theory the only guy with a microphone. So what
- 1:00:36Speaker 8: you need to demonstrate more than anything is that you're
- 1:00:39Speaker 8: in charge and you have a plan for where to go.
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: You know, if you think of it like an airline pilot,
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: a pilot doesn't come on the PA and say, if
- 1:00:47Speaker 8: it's okay with you people, we're going to take off
- 1:00:49Speaker 8: third and climb up to 37,000 feet. He just says,
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: you know, this is captain so-and-so. We're fifth in line.
- 1:00:57Speaker 8: We're taking off. Don't forget to get the Delta card.
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: You'll get 10 points off your next purchase. And that's that.
- 1:01:03Speaker 8: He leads the room. He does not read the room.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: He leads the room.
- 1:01:05Speaker 8: Certain jobs are leadership gigs. So if you're a comic,
- 1:01:09Speaker 8: that's absolutely the thing. When you go on stage, you
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: really have to be in charge first and foremost. Like
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: if you watch my Saturday night show, like I am
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: absolutely driving that bus because the minute they see that
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: you're kind of deferring to them, when they see kind
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: of like, not necessarily fear, but uncertainty on a comic's face,
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: If you look uncomfortable, they get uncomfortable. So the next
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: thing you know, you're telling a joke that might not
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: otherwise land. And instead of just missing, now you've got
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: a flat-out mutiny in the showroom, you know? So you've
- 1:01:40Speaker 8: got to be in charge. Wow.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: So that's interesting stuff. Yeah. So UN Week is leaving.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Netanyahu's going to speak today. That's going to be great entertainment.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: He's going to tell everybody off, isn't he?
- 1:01:53Speaker 8: Yeah, that's my favorite. And I'm sure, you know, Mom
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: Donnie will send in the cop from the village people
- 1:01:58Speaker 8: to try to arrest him or something. I mean, no
- 1:02:01Speaker 8: real cops coming after this guy. That whole stupid criminal
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: court thing is a farce. But I love the Mamdani thing,
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: you know, just the same, because he can't resist the
- 1:02:12Speaker 8: bug light of attention. You know, we said this when
- 1:02:15Speaker 8: he was running. He's a TikTok guy. So there'll be
- 1:02:18Speaker 8: a lot of grandstanding around this Netanyahu thing. But the
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: reality is the Netanyahu side, the pro-Israel side, is winning.
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: You know, Trump's getting, you know, unveiling this new Gaza deal.
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: Macklemore has been kicked off the Ed Sheeran tour. OK,
- 1:02:32Speaker 8: with the exception of a couple of blue haired crazy
- 1:02:35Speaker 8: people camping up in Colombia. OK, the right side of
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: this thing is winning. So I'll enjoy today for that reason, too.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Hey, you know, President Trump, he had a great life
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: here in New York. Parties, fun, celebrities. I'll look at
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: him now. He's spending the whole day with President Xi
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: of China. You've seen this guy. Do you want to
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: spend the whole day with President Xi of China? What
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: was he thinking?
- 1:02:58Speaker 12: No.
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: No, I don't. But I'd probably be nice to him
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: because China probably has my whole search history.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Outside of that, what would you talk to the guy about?
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Even for an hour.
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: Well, listen, I mean, if you were going to be frank,
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: there's probably a lot of Asian women in my search history.
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: So we'd have a starting point, Mark. I don't know
- 1:03:21Speaker 8: if that's what you were looking for, but here we are.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Hey, you're going to be doing this great show, Night
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: of Comedy at Kuchina Calandra, Fairfield, New Jersey, October 28th.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Still tickets left, right? You can still get tickets.
- 1:03:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I was told. Not completely sold out yet.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: It's on its way.
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: And you can come eat spaghetti and meatballs with Jimmy Fallon.
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: That's exciting.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: No, it is. Actually, if you want tickets, go to
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: 710WOR. com slash Jimmy. 710WOR. com slash Jimmy. And people can listen
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: to you tonight, every weeknight on WOR, 9 to midnight.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: What are you going to be doing on tonight's show?
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: Oh, it's Thursday. So there's a lot of this crazy U.N.
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: reaction stuff. Brian Bremberg's coming on because he interviewed Melania
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: Trump yesterday. And I want to get his take because
- 1:04:13Speaker 8: I've met Melania Trump and she was here to do
- 1:04:15Speaker 8: Fox and Friends. And I always tell people she's the
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: nicest woman in the world. Like she even helped me
- 1:04:19Speaker 8: up after the Secret Service tased me. And she didn't
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: have to do that. So, you know, I'm going to
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: show the same professionalism she did and talk to Bremberg
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: all about her tonight.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Oh, she's great. And then make sure you watch his— he
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: does the best late-night show on television. It's every Saturday night,
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: 10 o'clock, with the single best monologue in television. And
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: people can get tickets to that, right? It's free?
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:44Speaker 8: If you want free tickets, foxacrossamerica.com. We tape it on
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: Friday nights. It airs on Saturdays. So everybody who's on
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: the show, this week we have Dolph Lundgren, who played
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:55Speaker 8: And— Yeah, George Santos is coming by to promote his
- 1:04:58Speaker 8: OnlyFans or whatever the heck he does.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: I like George Santos. He's cute. He's a fun guy.
- 1:05:05Speaker 12: He is a good guy.
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: And for all of the ridiculousness he's been associated with,
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: he's a great TV guest. So I'm really looking forward
- 1:05:13Speaker 8: to interviewing him. We're going to play a game called
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: You or False, where I ask him of rumors I've
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: heard about him, and he tells me if they're real
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: or not.
- 1:05:20Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: So it should be good.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Hey, if you're listening, you could be in the studio audience.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: You get to meet all these people. They tape Friday evening.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: It's free. It's a good date if you want to
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: bring somebody. Don't tell them it's free. But you go
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: to FoxAcrossAmerica.com and you'll get the tickets. FoxAcrossAmerica.com. Make sure
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: you listen to Jimmy Fallon tonight, every weeknight, 9 to midnight.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: It's a great show on WOR. Jimmy Fallon, brilliant as always.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Thanks for being with us.
- 1:05:49Speaker 8: You're the best, Mark.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Take care. So, yeah, so I guess, is this the deal?
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: He'll be with us at 1040 every Thursday? Well, let
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: me just get this straight now. We got Steve Moore
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: at 1140? Oh, okay, good. We had a little mix
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: up there. So he's on 9 to midnight every night.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I'm on 9 a.m. till noon every day, three hours now.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: You got Buck and Clay coming up at noon. Great
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: show every day at noon. Then you got the most
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: listened to. Radio show in America, Sean Hannity, 3 to 6.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: That's all here on 710WOR.
- 1:06:28Speaker 10: 9 till noon weekdays.
- 1:06:30Speaker 14: Mark Simone.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: More Mark.
- 1:06:32Speaker 9: On 710WOR.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Hey, you guys in the control room, anybody have an
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: upset stomach?
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: No?
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Is it just me? I was fine when I came.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: They have this buffet down there in front of the
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Jim Kerr studio. Dumplings, all kinds of dumplings. I don't know.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Now I've got an upset stomach. What I ate down there. Anyway,
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: maybe it's from the show. Who knows? It's 57 degrees
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: right now. Real field temperature, 51. That summer ended fast. Actually,
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: next week it should get into the near 70 again
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: or low 70s again next week. You got the big
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: rainstorm coming Saturday. Hey, we got a lot to get
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: to in the next hour. So don't go away. It's
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: three hours every day now. 9 to noon. Mark Simone
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: here on 710WOR.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios, the Mark Simone Show.
- 1:07:33Speaker 10: Well, hey, it's cold out.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: If you haven't been out yet, it's cold. You need
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: an overcoat. You see President Trump on the airport tarmac
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: there greeting Xi wearing the big winter overcoat, the cashmere
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: overcoat and gloves. It's cold out. Got big rainstorm. Mostly
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: it'll be Saturday, a little bit into Sunday. It'll be
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: maybe not that bad in the city. East of the
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: city is where it could be heavy rain. Netanyahu speaks
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: at the UN today. That's going to be a traffic
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: and security nightmare. He's expected to really let everybody have it,
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: tell off everybody. It'll be a great moment. He'll expose
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: the Terrible, well, not expose, but really go after the anti-Semites,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Mamdani and company. The president banned, they say he banned
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: the press from the White House. He didn't ban the press.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: He banned MSNOW and CNN. I don't know if you
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: even call them news networks. And Politico, it's not a
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: news site. These are political advocacy sites, left-wing advocacy sites,
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: which is fine, but it's not. All of the press
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: is still allowed in the White House. They went to
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: a court, a D.C. left-wing judge. They love to tell
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: you it's a Trump-appointed judge. Trump had nothing to do
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: with picking the judge. Judges are always picked by uh
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: the senators or the congressmen or locals and the president
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: approves it very rarely does the president actually look for
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: his own pick uh so he didn't know the judge
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: when he appointed him and that's always the case with
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: every president but the judge ruled you can't ban the
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: press it has to go to trial but he put
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: in a 14-day hold on the ban So you can't
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: ban them for 14 days. So they showed up today.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: They were banned again. Here's Brit Hume. Brit Hume is
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: a very important voice to listen to. The guy's brilliant.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Old Washington hand. He knows his stuff. But he said,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: the White House has generally avoided defying court orders, but
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: it appears to have done just that this morning. Well,
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: it's a little tiny matter. It's not like he banned
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: the press. He just banned these A couple of kooky
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: left-wing outfits. And he is defying a court order. You're
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: not supposed to do that. But what's the judge going
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: to do about it? What's he going to do? Well,
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: they could serve him with a subpoena or something like that.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Hold him in contempt. Good. Try it. See how that
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: works out for you. You can't even get into the
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: White House grounds. How are you going to enforce it?
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: So this will be an interesting battle to watch. Hey,
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: we told you yesterday, Taylor Swift put out a new single.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: She knows how to create a whole buzz about anything,
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: whether it's a wedding, whether it's a... So the new
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: single had everybody talking, breathlessly waiting to hear it. Not
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: much of a melody, but a great, great song. Don't
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: know what the hell she's singing, but I'm sure as
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: long as she knows, it's fine. So it's Taylor Swift.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: Millions will be downloading it as we speak. All right,
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: so we'll see. President Xi... is here for a whole
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: day with Donald Trump. Boy, you look at the schedule.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: There's a gift exchanging ceremony. This is the thing. You
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: have to give the Chinese a gift. They have to
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: give you a gift. I'm sure it's not going to
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: be anything too exciting, either gift. And then they have
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: all sorts of meetings. Where's the president's schedule? Here it is.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: 10 a.m., greet the president. He was greeted yesterday at
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: the tarmac. Now he comes to the White House. And
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: in the South Portico, you have a greeting ceremony. Then
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Melania has to meet with Madame Ping, his wife. Have
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: you seen her? Does not look like a lot of fun,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: this one. Does not look like a lot of fun
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: to be with. Then a 1010, a rival ceremony with 1015.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: They will make remarks. Luckily, this is all behind us now. Oh, 1030.
- 1:11:45Speaker 11: 1030.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: The President and First Lady participate in a gift exchange
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: with them in the Blue Room. Then they move back
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: to the South Portico at 1040. The President and First
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Lady participate in silent drill platoon review. Who wants to
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: do this all day? It doesn't sound like a lot
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: of fun. 11 o'clock, they participate in a military review.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Who wants to do this all day? They sit there
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: and they watch the military come. What are we doing?
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Showing off for China? They know we got a military.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Take a look at Iran. You could see what we
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: can do. Ah, here we go.
- 1:12:25Speaker 12: 1130.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: That's coming up. The president participates in a bilateral meeting
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: with Xing in the Oval Office with Xi, Xi Jinping.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Closed press. A bilateral meeting. It looks like the bilateral
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: meeting is a half hour on the schedule. That's good.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Even for a half hour, you've seen this, President Xi.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: What the hell would you talk to him about for
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: a half hour? You could talk about AI. You could
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: try to come to an agreement. Now, the one thing
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: they do want to talk about is it's believed that
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: China is supplying Iran with money, with cash, with weapons,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: keeping them going. You want to get them to stop
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: doing that. That's the main topic. The second topic might
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: be AI guidelines and restraints. But as everybody knows, Whatever
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: is agreed to in the meeting is never going to happen.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: You could get Xi to promise not to keep supplying Iran,
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: not to give them weapons. You could make an agreement.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: You could sign an agreement. You could have 20 people
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: sign it. You could sign 10 more agreements. And he's
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: not going to stick to it. That's the history of
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: China and Iran and Russia. They never stick to an agreement.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: So what is the point of this? And also, I
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: don't know if you realize, but Xi is very weak.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: It's not certain that he will continue as the leader
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: of China. A lot of people think he should be removed.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: He's in a weak position right now there. So he
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: has to be very careful. He can't show any weakness
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: with the President of the United States. Okay, then they participate. Oh,
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: look at this. A cultural visit to the Smithsonian National
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Museum of Art. Oh, excuse me. It's one wing. It's
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: the Asian art.
- 1:14:13Speaker 18: All right.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: If I told you right now you're going to go
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: spend the day at the Smithsonian in the Asian art wing,
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: it doesn't sound like a lot of fun. If I
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: said to you, you've got to take Xi Jinping and Mrs.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Ping and show them around, this doesn't sound like a
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: great day. Then at 3.30, they have a policy meeting
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: without Xi Jinping. He goes back to his hotel or something.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Thank God. You get away from this guy for two hours. Oh,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: then at 7.55 is the state dinner in the East
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Room of the White House, President and the First Lady.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Big state dinner. They've invited all the tech CEOs, the
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: Mark Zuckerbergs, the head of Apple, the head of the
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: AI companies. They'll all be there. Mr. and Mrs. Ping
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: will be there. They get to take a picture with them.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: Let's say you had a picture with Xi Jinping. What
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: are you going to do with it? Are you going
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: to show that to people? What are you going to
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: do with that? Put that on your Instagram? Here's me
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: and Xi Jinping. Not that exciting. So then he'll leave
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: later tonight and I'll get rid of this guy for
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: a while. UN week, by the way, will drop down
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: a little. Netanyahu's speaking today. That's a big thing. Big
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: security traffic nightmare. And then tomorrow it'll ease up slightly.
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: And then this thing continues next week, but without the
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: world leaders. So once the world leaders leave, you won't
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: have the traffic problems. So it'll be a little less
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: tomorrow and Friday. And then over the weekend, these world
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: leaders will start leaving. Now, many of them might stay
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: for a couple of days because they got Broadway shows.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: They got shopping. They go to restaurants. There's a couple
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: of hookers they didn't get to. This is what goes
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: on over the weekend. Then Monday should be much easier.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Next week should be much easier. still be UN activity,
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: but not these world leaders. And that will help a lot.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: As I mentioned, Prince Harry is here. Whenever they do
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: this UN General Assembly week, they do the Clinton Global Initiative,
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: which is a big shakedown of donors. They get every
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: big star-struck donor to give them a ton of money.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: And they have seminars and panels and meet and greets with,
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: they try to get famous people there. The big name
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: this week is Prince Harry. Prince Harry is there to
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: speak about the dangers of social media. He's going to
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: talk about social media affecting our kids. Now, who the
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: hell is this guy to talk about it when he's
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: got a wife that that's all she does all day
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: is put stuff up on Instagram. That's all these two
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: do for a living is put up social media stuff.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: I don't know who the hell they are to bother
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: anybody about this. The Iranian president spoke yesterday, of course,
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: calling us all kinds of names and He looked terrified.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: The Iranian president. He's currently the president of Iran, but,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: you know, this is Iran. They could take you out
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: and execute you at any moment. He looked so panicky.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: He looked so frightened when he was speaking. Because if
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: it's one wrong word from this guy, you know they're
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: going to execute him as soon as he gets back.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: He's the president of Iran, but no life insurance company
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: would handle this guy right now. In fact, he had
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: life insurance. They even asked for their calendar back. They
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: didn't want to. You know who's negotiating with Gaza and
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: all of that is Jared Kushner. You ever heard Jared
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: Kushner speak? Take a listen.
- 1:17:41Speaker 19: We want to have a Gaza Strip that could thrive
- 1:17:43Speaker 19: and reach its full potential. In order for that to happen,
- 1:17:46Speaker 19: it must be fully demilitarized in that regard, meaning that
- 1:17:49Speaker 19: Hamas has agreed to give up the weapons, but we
- 1:17:52Speaker 19: need to implement that.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Does he sound a little annoying? I don't know. But
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: you want to listen to this guy for a whole
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: hour in a meeting?
- 1:18:01Speaker 19: We're building something that is really a platform to enable
- 1:18:05Speaker 19: the Palestinian people in Gaza to finally focus on improving
- 1:18:09Speaker 19: their livelihoods and improving their lives and for those who
- 1:18:12Speaker 19: want to live in peace to give them a chance
- 1:18:13Speaker 19: to do so.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Now, these old Washington hands or the Democrats or the
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: old congressmen, they'll say, well, you shouldn't have, he should
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: not have Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. This should be
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: a professional State Department, professional foreign policy people. They should
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: be doing the negotiating.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: Well.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: They're not that effective, those guys. You know, they got
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: briefing books and they look effective. The most important thing
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: taught to Trump when he first ran, first big meeting
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: was Henry Kissinger. And there's nobody knows this stuff better.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: And he said the one thing Kissinger told him is
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: when it comes to foreign policy. don't let the State
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Department handle it. And when it comes to this stuff,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: don't listen to these idiots with their briefing books. Don't
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: let them negotiate. And he said, do it yourself. So
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: that's what that's all about. And Kissinger's right. Look at
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: all the professional negotiators and diplomats and State Department, foreign
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: policy experts. For all the years of these negotiations, nothing
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: ever changed. Nothing ever got settled. Nothing, it never made
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: any difference. Now, the other thing is, does it matter
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: who's negotiating? No matter what agreement you make with China,
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: no matter what agreement you make with Palestinians, no matter
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: what agreement you make with Iran, nobody sticks to it ever.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: There's never been one single case where they've ever stuck
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: to any of these agreements. So what's the difference? What
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: do you come up with? You know, a lot of people,
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: they got rid of cable. They used to call it
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: cut the cord, cutting the cord. The cable bill was crazy.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: It was 200, 300. You'd pay a fortune for your
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: cable TV. So a lot of people cut the cord.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: They got rid of that and they went to streaming
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: because you could just, $ 8, you got streaming. Well, it
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: was $ 8. Then it's $ 12. Then it's $ 15. Then it's $ 20.
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: And now.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: It turns out you can't have one streaming service. You've
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: got to have six of them. I guess you could
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: just have Netflix, but you've got to have Paramount. You've
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: got to have Disney. You've got to have Hulu. And
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: they keep raising the prices. Everybody's all upset now. This
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: is if you want the ad-free Disney. It's going up $ 2.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: 50.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: It's going to be $ 21. 50 a month. And Hulu, increasing
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: $ 2. 50 a month. It's now going to be $ 22 a month.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: So if you add up the five or six or
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: seven streaming things you got, you're right back to the
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: $ 200 you were spending on cable. You could watch it
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: with the ads. That's a lot cheaper, which I recommend,
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: by the way. Hey, watch a couple of commercials. It's
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: not going to kill you. Hulu is good for certain things.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: If you want live TV, you got to pay a
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: lot more for that. That's extra. But Hulu live TV,
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: put that in your computer, in your phone. You can
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: watch live television live. All your favorite channels, networks. You
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: can watch Fox. You can watch Channel 5. You can
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: watch MSNBC right in your phone wherever you are. It's
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: a great thing to have. Hey, we got the phones
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: fixed from yesterday. They're actually working. We can take some calls.
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number. We'll take some calls next. We
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: always look for new callers.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show, now 9 till noon.
- 1:21:35Speaker 10: Weekdays on 710WOR.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Lucia in Westchester. Lucia,
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 1:21:47Speaker 13: Hi, very well, thank you. I am a new listener,
- 1:21:51Speaker 13: and I enjoy your show until.
- 1:21:54Speaker 18: You know, sometimes.
- 1:21:56Speaker 13: What?
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Why?
- 1:21:57Speaker 13: A lot of your callers you make fun of.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:22:01Speaker 13: You interrupt them.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:22:04Speaker 13: You say you don't know what they're talking about.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:22:06Speaker 13: I think it's very condescending and rude. Why?
- 1:22:09Speaker 18: It's not funny.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: What a pain in the ass you are. I said
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: new callers, not callers that give us a hard time.
- 1:22:19Speaker 13: Yeah, you've got to screen your callers a little bit.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: No, we don't screen. We don't screen. No, if you
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: don't know what you're talking about, I have to tell you.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: If you're taking too long, I got it.
- 1:22:27Speaker 13: No, it's not nice.
- 1:22:29Speaker 12: Yes, yes.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: It's nice. You're wrong.
- 1:22:32Speaker 13: You know what? If you did that to me once,
- 1:22:34Speaker 13: I'd never call you again.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: You got to do it sometime. No, it's not everybody. Hey,
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: the people I do that to call back a million times.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: Have a little sense of humor, Lucia. Where are you
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: in Westchester?
- 1:22:46Speaker 15: All right, all right.
- 1:22:47Speaker 10: Where are you in Westchester?
- 1:22:48Speaker 13: Thank you.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Where are you in Westchester?
- 1:22:50Speaker 13: I'm in Katona.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Well, see, already you got a sense of humor. Katona.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: It's very nice. A little out of the way, Katona,
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: but it's very nice there.
- 1:23:02Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:03Speaker 13: It's Bedford. It's beautiful. I love it here.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: It's beautiful there, unless you want to do something. Otherwise,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: it's a little.
- 1:23:10Speaker 13: Well, we don't want to do anything. We don't want
- 1:23:12Speaker 13: to see people. We want to be alone.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: Well, you've got the right place for it. You're right
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: near that Martha Stewart.
- 1:23:20Speaker 13: Well, she's not here anymore.
- 1:23:22Speaker 18: She left.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: Oh, thank God.
- 1:23:23Speaker 12: Thank God. Yeah, we hated her.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: She makes you look like a lot of fun. I'm kidding.
- 1:23:28Speaker 10: It's a joke.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: It's a joke. See, now you laugh.
- 1:23:30Speaker 13: All right, all right, all right. Be nice to people,
- 1:23:33Speaker 13: especially old people. We feel bad if you're not nice.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: Oh, just have a little sense of humor. Keep listening,
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: and you'll see if you get used to it. Let's
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: go to Linda in Long Island. Linda, how you doing?
- 1:23:46Speaker 13: Hi, Mark.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: I just wanted to agree with you. I can't believe that.
- 1:23:51Speaker 13: Taylor Swift, disgusting.
- 1:23:54Speaker 12: It's not disgusting.
- 1:23:55Speaker 10: I couldn't believe it's real.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: It's a little boring.
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: It was. It sounded like a noise in front of
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: her trying to sing. I can't believe she conned people
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: out of a billion dollars.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: It's not disgusting.
- 1:24:06Speaker 8: At least a billion.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: Okay, you'd rather have Viti Gourmet, is that it?
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: No, I'd rather have Whitney Houston. That's a real singer.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: She's disgusting, Taylor Swift.
- 1:24:16Speaker 10: She's not disgusting.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: It's a little boring.
- 1:24:17Speaker 13: She's a con artist.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: She's not a con artist. It's a little boring.
- 1:24:21Speaker 11: Yes, she is.
- 1:24:22Speaker 10: It's a little boring.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: Listen to this. Third, fourth time, it starts to grow
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: on you.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: That singing?
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: That's really?
- 1:24:29Speaker 13: Really?
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: I can't believe that. I would never go near that
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: by that.
- 1:24:34Speaker 18: That is ridiculous.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:24:35Speaker 13: Did you like Whitney Houston?
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: Wasn't she great?
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but, okay, I want you to wait about a
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: month and a half.
- 1:24:41Speaker 18: Compare them.
- 1:24:42Speaker 11: You're going to hear this on.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: The radio 50 million times. Then you'll love it. You'll
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: be humming it.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: I'll never love it.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: You're going to have to play this at your birthday party. Okay,
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: let me hear you do it.
- 1:24:52Speaker 18: All right, I can't.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: Not anybody can do it.
- 1:24:55Speaker 12: All right, you got me.
- 1:24:56Speaker 13: I can't do that.
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: Oh, I could, but not.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: On the air.
- 1:24:59Speaker 10: I can do it alone.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: All right, Linda, give it a chance.
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: All right, we had fun.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: All right, take care. Let's go to Ralph in Manhattan. Ralph,
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 1:25:11Speaker 17: Hey, Mark, you know, you talked about the Carnegie Deli
- 1:25:14Speaker 17: a few days ago and the Broadway Danny Rose, that
- 1:25:18Speaker 17: about mid 80s. Was that not a fantastic time during
- 1:25:21Speaker 17: that time when they featured the great Carnegie Deli and
- 1:25:25Speaker 17: Woody was walking with the guy that played the Italian
- 1:25:29Speaker 17: singer in that movie was.
- 1:25:30Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 1:25:31Speaker 12: I think his name was.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: Apollo Forte, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: That's right, Nick Apollo Forte. Hey, everybody go back and
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: get the movie Broadway Danny Rose. Watch it again. The
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: Carnegie Deli is one of the stars of the movie. But,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: you see, in those days, the front table was like
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: the celebrity table. Whatever big stars were in town, we
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: would all meet at the celebrity table there. I used
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: to go there all the time, sit there. At like
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: 11 o'clock at night, everybody would show up after their shows.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: And they would just tell stories and talk show business stuff.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: In the movie Broadway, Danny Rose, they show you that
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: table with a whole bunch of real comedians talking, and
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: that's where the movie takes off from. But go watch
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: the movie. You'll love it. It stars the Carnegie Deli. Broadway,
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: Danny Rose. Go watch the movie. Let's go to Vincent
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: in Brooklyn. Vincent, how are you doing?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm okay. That Taylor Swift song
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: starts to grow on you like a herpes wash.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Okay, it's not Jerry Vale, but take a listen.
- 1:26:32Speaker 7: Tell me you don't like this.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: You can't imagine Jimmy Roselli singing that?
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: Well, no. Jimmy Roselli was singing it. Every other word
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: would have to be bleeped out.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: Look, let's put it this way. Okay, but picture Al Martin.
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: Jeff Beck or Eric Clapton, she is not on the guitar.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: On a more serious note, Jessica Tish is doing a
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: wonderful job keeping all these nut job anti-Israel, all these
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: Jew haters in line at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza. Given that,
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: me personally, I believe at the end of next week,
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: when all these dirtbags go back home to their hookers
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: in black robes in these Arabic countries, Jessica Grutish, my opinion,
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: should hand in her resignation.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: I was with her yesterday. We had a big lunch.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: In fact, you could see pictures of it on my Instagram.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Go to MarkSimoneNYC on Instagram. And I said, we all
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: have two words for you. Don't leave. And she said,
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: I'm not going anywhere. I'm just getting started.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: Mark, I believe she would make a great mayor. And
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: I'm saying this because I don't want Julie Manning to
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: get the jump start on her.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: Well, Julie Manning's not bad, but you're right.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: She's starting these packs and everything.
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: I know, I know. Vincent, we've got to go do
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: the news, but thanks for calling. Always a great call. Yeah,
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: she did say, and we had an audience there, like
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: 150 people. In front of the audience, she said, I'm
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: not going anywhere. I'm just getting started. So, hey, when
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: we come back, the great, brilliant economist Steve Moore will
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: be with us next on 710WOR.
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: Mark Simone on 710WOR.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Well, let me turn now to the brilliant economist Steve Moore,
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: bestselling author. You should get his latest book, The Trump
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: Economic Mindset. Miracle. You'll learn a lot from that book. Also,
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: he runs the Committee to Unleash Prosperity. They put out
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: the best daily briefing. It's great news and analysis. Go
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: to UnleashProsperity.com. It's free. It'll come right to your email.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Just sign up for the hotline. Go to UnleashProsperity.com. Steve Moore,
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 1:28:59Speaker 18: Hey, Mark.
- 1:29:00Speaker 12: Good to be with you.
- 1:29:01Speaker 18: Thanks for having me.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Hey, we've got to do something about the high price
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: of diesel, mostly caused by the Ukraine-Russia war. The president
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: wants to ban exports. That's not the way to do it,
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: is it?
- 1:29:11Speaker 18: No, it's not going to work. And that will actually
- 1:29:15Speaker 18: make gas prices higher. and it won't really bring down
- 1:29:18Speaker 18: diesel prices. So bad idea. But, you know, politicians, when
- 1:29:22Speaker 18: they face a crisis, they always have to do something, right?
- 1:29:25Speaker 18: It's a bad idea to have to. So there's a
- 1:29:28Speaker 18: better idea, by the way. One is to, you know,
- 1:29:30Speaker 18: let's get that Strait of Hormuz open, which, by the way,
- 1:29:33Speaker 18: if that happens, we're going to have the best booming
- 1:29:35Speaker 18: economy ever because everything else in the economy is going
- 1:29:38Speaker 18: so great. It's just the gas prices are so high,
- 1:29:40Speaker 18: people are angry. and enjoy you know rightfully so uh...
- 1:29:43Speaker 18: so i've got a couple ideas of what is uh...
- 1:29:46Speaker 18: you know i've recommended the white house let's suspend the
- 1:29:48Speaker 18: gas tax the federal gas tax until the price of
- 1:29:51Speaker 18: gas goes back down you know below state three fifty
- 1:29:54Speaker 18: a gallon that would save us about twenty twenty five
- 1:29:56Speaker 18: cents a gallon if we did that and the second
- 1:29:59Speaker 18: thing i would do uh... mark is i would up
- 1:30:02Speaker 18: you know there's always blending requirements uh... you know for
- 1:30:05Speaker 18: what is the reason we have refineries is that you
- 1:30:08Speaker 18: know the pump out of the oil that's called crude
- 1:30:10Speaker 18: oil then it has to go to the refineries and
- 1:30:12Speaker 18: they have to add in ethanol and corn and all
- 1:30:15Speaker 18: these other, you know, stuff. And that adds about, you know,
- 1:30:18Speaker 18: 30 cents a gallon to the, to the price of a,
- 1:30:21Speaker 18: a gas at the pump. So why not, um, uh,
- 1:30:24Speaker 18: you know, at least sub temporarily, but why do we
- 1:30:27Speaker 18: have to put corn in our tank?
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: Was that cause of, that was cause of Iowa.
- 1:30:33Speaker 16: You know what the answer to that is?
- 1:30:34Speaker 18: Yeah, exactly. What I have a two word answer to
- 1:30:37Speaker 18: my own question. Uh, Chuck Grassley, and by the way,
- 1:30:42Speaker 18: I like Chuck Grassley. I've known him for 40 years,
- 1:30:44Speaker 18: but he's a 92-year-old senator from Iowa, and he's the
- 1:30:47Speaker 18: one guy who keeps the ethanol subsidy alive because it's
- 1:30:50Speaker 18: a big deal in Iowa. But, you know, the other
- 1:30:53Speaker 18: thing is we haven't built the infrastructure we need in
- 1:30:57Speaker 18: this country for our energy revolution. You know, remember the
- 1:31:01Speaker 18: Democrats blocked all the pipelines that we need, you know,
- 1:31:04Speaker 18: to get the oil from Texas to the Northeast. from
- 1:31:08Speaker 18: North Dakota to the Northeast. And then, you know, we
- 1:31:11Speaker 18: need refineries. We need LNG terminals. And the left has
- 1:31:15Speaker 18: just blocked all of those. And so that makes gas
- 1:31:19Speaker 18: at the pump a lot more expensive as well.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we have so much oil, more than we could
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: ever use. But we haven't built a refinery since the.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: 70s, right? Yeah.
- 1:31:27Speaker 18: So it's like 1979 or something. Don't quote me on that,
- 1:31:29Speaker 18: but it's been a long time.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: Hey, Steve Moore, I love reading the hotline every day.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: It's free. You can just go to UnleashProsperity.com, sign up.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: So states that are– everybody's leaving here, leaving California. What
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: states are doing the best getting people moving into them?
- 1:31:47Speaker 18: Yeah, so we just published that data. It was in
- 1:31:50Speaker 18: our hotline today. So if you look at the number of–
- 1:31:53Speaker 18: as a percentage terms, which states have lost the most
- 1:31:56Speaker 18: and gained the most, the states that have gained the
- 1:31:58Speaker 18: most are states like Idaho– Florida, obviously, it's a big state,
- 1:32:03Speaker 18: but even as a big state, it's gained a lot
- 1:32:05Speaker 18: of percentage population. Another one is Utah. All those people
- 1:32:10Speaker 18: in California are leaving for Utah and Idaho and Montana.
- 1:32:14Speaker 18: By the way, I'm not sure the people in Montana
- 1:32:16Speaker 18: and Utah are so excited about California coming in. But
- 1:32:20Speaker 18: on the East Coast, not surprisingly, New York and New
- 1:32:23Speaker 18: Jersey keep bleeding people, and they tend to be the
- 1:32:26Speaker 18: most successful people, the higher-income people who pay the tax revenues.
- 1:32:30Speaker 18: so it's a big problem and in fact in terms
- 1:32:32Speaker 18: of money the states that have lost the most money
- 1:32:35Speaker 18: can we know the incomes of these people and uh...
- 1:32:38Speaker 18: and so it's a uh... it's a big uh... you
- 1:32:41Speaker 18: know it's a big deal that uh... they've lost so
- 1:32:44Speaker 18: many you know millionaires and billionaires to me if you
- 1:32:46Speaker 18: say oh we hate millionaires and billionaires guess what they
- 1:32:48Speaker 18: leave that's why you know these uh... talks by mondami
- 1:32:51Speaker 18: and then california mail their tax bill in our tax
- 1:32:54Speaker 18: care you know tax them don't just leave and they
- 1:32:57Speaker 18: do and they've a lot of them have left already.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: But the problem with living in Idaho is you have
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: to live in Idaho.
- 1:33:05Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:33:06Speaker 18: I was just in Sun Valley for about a three-day
- 1:33:09Speaker 18: conference about a week ago. I've got to say, it
- 1:33:11Speaker 18: was one of the most beautiful places. By the way,
- 1:33:13Speaker 18: Idaho real estate prices have tripled in the last 10
- 1:33:17Speaker 18: years because so many people are moving in.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: And, hey, you wrote about Colorado. They've got a millionaire's
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: tax that is, what, it's totally backfiring?
- 1:33:27Speaker 18: Well, you know, Colorado is one of the, you know,
- 1:33:31Speaker 18: I've written a lot about Colorado. It's the one blue
- 1:33:33Speaker 18: state that really works. You know, they've had a really
- 1:33:37Speaker 18: good governor there who's a Democrat, but, you know, a
- 1:33:41Speaker 18: pro-growth Democrat. And they have a tax and limitation measure.
- 1:33:46Speaker 18: And they have a flat tax. I think it's 4.9%.
- 1:33:56Speaker 18: And so Colorado's done very well. And now they want
- 1:34:00Speaker 18: to get rid of their flat tax and raise it
- 1:34:02Speaker 18: from 4.8% to 8.4%. And they want to get rid
- 1:34:06Speaker 18: of their spending limitation measure. So they're going wacko in Colorado.
- 1:34:10Speaker 18: And that will be on the ballot in November. So
- 1:34:12Speaker 18: we'll see if the Colorado voters, you know, vote for
- 1:34:16Speaker 18: Soak the Rich because Soak the Rich never works.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: Well, hey, you had this great story today. You know, A.I.,
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: A lot of people are against it. I can see
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: why the news media is against it. It is killing
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: their business on their websites, isn't it?
- 1:34:32Speaker 18: This is a really amazing story, and I'm just starting
- 1:34:36Speaker 18: to learn about it, but it could completely change the
- 1:34:39Speaker 18: way media works, you know, forever. And it could do
- 1:34:43Speaker 18: great damage to what I call the legacy medias, which
- 1:34:46Speaker 18: are the CNNs of the world and the Washington Post
- 1:34:50Speaker 18: and the New York Times, etc., because the What's happening now,
- 1:34:53Speaker 18: do you use ChatGPT? If you notice when you do
- 1:34:58Speaker 18: Google searches now, it immediately drives you to, in other words,
- 1:35:05Speaker 18: instead of listing all the things, it drives you to
- 1:35:09Speaker 18: two or three major ones. And then what people are
- 1:35:12Speaker 18: doing is instead of going to the New York Times
- 1:35:15Speaker 18: website and just perusing all the stories, they'll just look
- 1:35:20Speaker 18: at the one story. So what's happening is that the
- 1:35:23Speaker 18: number of views for these online publications like the New
- 1:35:28Speaker 18: York Times and Watch Post has fallen by 40%.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:35:32Speaker 18: And that's how they get their revenues, right? They get
- 1:35:34Speaker 18: their revenues from the ads. You know, when you read
- 1:35:37Speaker 18: a New York Times story, they put the ads in there. Well,
- 1:35:39Speaker 18: guess what? Nobody's going to buy ads if the people
- 1:35:43Speaker 18: aren't viewing the story. So this could cause a revolution, right?
- 1:35:48Speaker 18: and uh in how ai is changing the way we
- 1:35:52Speaker 18: gain information and it could put new york times and
- 1:35:55Speaker 18: washington post out of business i know that you'd be
- 1:35:57Speaker 18: very sad about that mark well it.
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: Could also hurt the new york post too because uh
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: yeah right.
- 1:36:02Speaker 18: No but it's affecting all of the kind of those
- 1:36:04Speaker 18: new york post too and so i don't know how
- 1:36:07Speaker 18: this is going to turn out but um you know
- 1:36:10Speaker 18: ai is is uh is really dramatically changing things just
- 1:36:14Speaker 18: in the last few months.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: Yeah hey uh the The president spends the whole day
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: with President Xi, China. What's the point of this? Whatever
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: agreement you make with China, they're never going to stick
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: to it. So why even bother?
- 1:36:28Speaker 18: You know, I'm totally skeptical, too. And, you know, I
- 1:36:31Speaker 18: love Donald Trump, and he certainly knows the art of
- 1:36:34Speaker 18: the deal. But this is, you know, we know now
- 1:36:38Speaker 18: we can't trust China. We know that their main goal
- 1:36:42Speaker 18: is to knock off America as the as the world
- 1:36:48Speaker 18: economic superpower. And so, you know, it's like, remember the
- 1:36:51Speaker 18: famous story of Khrushchev, you know, in the Soviet Union
- 1:36:55Speaker 18: when he came back from his visit to the United
- 1:36:57Speaker 18: States and he said, we will bury you. Well, that's what,
- 1:37:02Speaker 18: you know, let's face it, that's what President Xi wants
- 1:37:03Speaker 18: to do. He wants to bury us. So, you know,
- 1:37:07Speaker 18: the most dangerous snakes are the ones that smile at
- 1:37:10Speaker 18: you before they bite you. And that's what President Xi is.
- 1:37:14Speaker 18: He's a snake. Uh, and they're out to get us. So,
- 1:37:18Speaker 18: and look, Trump is smart enough. I hope to, you know,
- 1:37:21Speaker 18: see through this, you know, that, uh, you have to
- 1:37:24Speaker 18: treat them. And by the way, Trump, remember Trump got
- 1:37:27Speaker 18: elected in Perkins river, China.
- 1:37:29Speaker 16: We have to do that China.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: Well, we'll see what happens at the end of the day. Uh,
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: but Steve Moore has a great book out called the
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: Trump economic miracle. Get the book. And boy, I love
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: that hotline. You put out every day, best news, best analysis.
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: And it's free. Just go to UnleashProsperity.com. And Steve Moore,
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: thanks for being with us.
- 1:37:50Speaker 18: Great to be with you. Have a great weekend.
- 1:37:52Speaker 12: Take care.
- 1:37:52Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: Take care. Yeah, the problem with AI, you used to
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: Google search something like Google, what's the meeting with President
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: Xi today? And Google would give you a bunch of
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: things to go to. You could go to the New
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: York Post website. You could go to the New York
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: Times website. And you'd click on these websites. Problem is,
