- 0:00That's it. I hit record.
- 0:01We just had to wait a second for.
- 0:03It OK, I was waiting for you to say something.
- 0:05Really. Funny, I thought oh I've got
- 0:06nothing, the intro was still going to play automatically, but
- 0:09I guess. I don't like that anymore.
- 0:11I did fix that. I think it's the intro.
- 0:13I didn't fix it fix it. I just minused it from this one.
- 0:17I'll. Fix it.
- 0:18That's funny. So yeah, if you if you saw last
- 0:21week's Oh no yeah, I might have cut it all out.
- 0:24I don't know if you'll even know that it happened, but the the
- 0:26wrong intro played last week. Yeah, automatically on Stream
- 0:28Yard. But then also when I edit the
- 0:31podcast, I don't use the Stream Yard version.
- 0:33I download the original recordings.
- 0:35And so it's basically just sitting there going during the
- 0:40intro because at first I was like, what is happening?
- 0:43And then and then I realized, Oh yeah, the intro video is.
- 0:46Playing, we're just all, we're all like for a good minute,
- 0:50yeah. Yeah, I was like, the fuck is
- 0:51this? That was fantastic.
- 0:55Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke and
- 1:02Dan Multiple Nerd Jasmine, your guide to all things nerdy.
- 1:14At least got to put that off on Patreon if it's that starting
- 1:17the episode. Oh.
- 1:18Yeah, I could do that, actually, Yeah.
- 1:22So how was everybody's Christmas?
- 1:24I went and saw lots of movies. Oh, that's good, I did.
- 1:28Did you put it in a spreadsheet? About that, yeah.
- 1:31The ones on the spreadsheet, OK. Sort of doesn't use
- 1:35spreadsheets. That's work.
- 1:37Yes, I use spreadsheets for work.
- 1:40I read them. I don't put stuff in them.
- 1:42I should, I'll put my stuff in. One is sort of 1 here as related
- 1:46to Avatar. Oh yeah, I saw fire and Ash.
- 1:50So is this the third one I lost count?
- 1:53Yeah, OK, right. I didn't see the second one
- 1:55because the first one was garbage.
- 1:57It's exactly the same movie as the second one, right?
- 2:01They've just add if they added one thing into the second movie,
- 2:05you don't need this three hour movie.
- 2:07Another number, the number one. If they added the number one
- 2:11into the second one, it would be the third one.
- 2:13OK. Yeah, like it's the whole movie
- 2:15is just just feels like the second one, just with a few
- 2:18added. I would like to watch these is
- 2:22are they as long as the first one?
- 2:23Are they very long? This one was 3 hours and 14
- 2:26minutes. Fucking hell, Jimmy and Jimmy
- 2:30Camo, what are you doing the. Other thing is what mate what
- 2:34what I liked about the first one was not the movie was how
- 2:37beautiful looked in 3D the. Experience of watching Avatar
- 2:41the first time was phenomenal. They're just throwing that out
- 2:45the window now. There's, there's none of that
- 2:48like sting stuff floating in front of you that looks really
- 2:51nice. It's just.
- 2:52As in they don't do it or you're bored of it.
- 2:55They don't do it right. Did you see it?
- 2:57Three, a certain 3D. Yeah, because they're on the
- 3:00ocean. There's none of the forest
- 3:02floating around, right? Water just splashing in your
- 3:05eyes. But, you know, yeah, just.
- 3:08But yeah, it's just honestly, they had, if they had one scene
- 3:11into the second one, they don't need this movie at all.
- 3:14Was the second movie as beautiful as the first movie?
- 3:19Because I'll give you that. It was fucking beautiful, I'll
- 3:21give you that. It's different still, still very
- 3:23nice, OK. Yeah, that's all I'll give it
- 3:27though. That's all I had going for it.
- 3:29Yeah, I think it was an experience.
- 3:30It was visually like stunning the 3D.
- 3:32We'd never seen 3D done like that before.
- 3:34We have now or. But yeah, and I'd.
- 3:36Actually, well, I'll be honest, that much I haven't seen 3D done
- 3:39like that since then either. Yeah.
- 3:41I know it was a big 3D push for a little while, but it was
- 3:44basically just forcing 3D into movies.
- 3:46Please come back to cinemas. The first time I saw an IMAX and
- 3:49I remember, I just remember that opening sequence where the, you
- 3:51know, the going through space and then like Sully's like
- 3:54waking up and coming out of the thing and you're in like the you
- 3:56know, the what do you call the Dyson sphere or whatever it is?
- 3:58Dyson sphere, Yeah, and or whatever it is and you.
- 4:01Know the Miles Bennett Dyson sphere?
- 4:02The Miles Bennett Dyson sphere and just the 3D of it and the
- 4:08stuff floating around and just thinking like oh fuck, this is
- 4:11amazing. And then, and then it was a
- 4:15reasonably good science fiction movie after that.
- 4:17That I've not really. Watched weeks.
- 4:18Good. Well, I felt like.
- 4:20Borderline shit mate, come on Christ.
- 4:24At the time, I thought it was all right.
- 4:26It's been a while. I was actually.
- 4:27I remember thinking that I'm watching a guy riding a dinosaur
- 4:30fighting a guy in a mech with a knife and I'm not enjoying it so
- 4:36and I'm like so something is wrong.
- 4:38Yeah, yeah. So yeah, that that was one movie
- 4:42I watched. But then what's strange?
- 4:43Kevin said now he held a press conference.
- 4:46I can see. He no, no, no, he just that he
- 4:48will. I think this is an offhand kind
- 4:50of joke, but it just, it's just quite funny that he basically,
- 4:54depending on how this one does, will determine if he's making
- 4:58more. Because apparently four and five
- 5:00have to be made together for some for reasons, whether
- 5:05budgetary or just him being him. He's got to make four and five
- 5:10together. And Disney's got to decide
- 5:12whether they're going to allow that to happen, right?
- 5:14Because it's going to cost a lot of money.
- 5:16And so the performance of this film will determine whether that
- 5:20happens. And what he said was, if I can't
- 5:22make them, I'll hold a press conference and I'll just tell
- 5:25you all what was going to happen.
- 5:26What was going to happen? Amazing.
- 5:29I thought that was just very funny.
- 5:31This one's doing OK, apparently. OK, I've.
- 5:36The box office. I can't really tell from going
- 5:38from to the movies in Australia, or at least in Canberra, because
- 5:4399% when I go there's me and three other people if I'm lucky.
- 5:47Yeah, right. So I mean, I'm sure there's a
- 5:49number of like, you know, like what do you call it box, a box
- 5:53office number that that will determine whether he gets to
- 5:55make more of them and. Then yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:58And in fact, they've probably determined it.
- 5:59It's probably a first weekend box office number.
- 6:01They probably know if they're going to do it or not.
- 6:03Yeah. Yeah, you need to make this much
- 6:05money or you're done. 100%, yeah, yeah.
- 6:08So that was one movie I watched and I also did get to see The
- 6:12Avengers, Doom Day, Doomsday. I watched this year the.
- 6:16Oh is it online now? I still have the.
- 6:18Rogers One. It is.
- 6:20I mean, there's not a lot to see, OK?
- 6:21You've seen, you've seen Chris Evans before and you've seen a
- 6:24baby before. It's got those two things in it.
- 6:27Oh, but I haven't seen Chris Evans as a baby.
- 6:29Is that what I say? It's not that.
- 6:31It's not that it's not. That unless he's holding his
- 6:33clone. I'll say this though, Chris
- 6:36Evans to me is only a movie star because of and involved with
- 6:43Marvel. I I just don't, I just don't buy
- 6:46him in other things. The.
- 6:47First thing I saw him in was not another teen movie, which is
- 6:50fucking incredible. Yeah, OK, sure.
- 6:53And he's also in, he's in Scott Scott Pilgrim, which is a great
- 6:57movie too. Like he's in, he's in good
- 6:59things. Right.
- 7:00He's in sunshine. Danny Boyle's Sunshine.
- 7:02I don't remember him from that and what that, and that's kind
- 7:04of what I mean. Like, he's very, very good at
- 7:07being Steve Rogers. That was the idea with hiring a
- 7:11lot of these actors at where they were in their careers.
- 7:14Like they were good, but they weren't quite stars.
- 7:16Yeah, it is. Just them so we can pay him
- 7:18nothing because you have to pay a fortune to Robert Downey
- 7:21Junior and so yeah, we. Would have been a bit cheap at
- 7:26the start, I think at the. Start.
- 7:27He would have been, yeah, but at the start after Iron Man, but I
- 7:30think. At the end he was bringing in
- 7:31like 140, a movie or something ridiculous.
- 7:34Yeah, it was something ridiculous.
- 7:35And that's why I'll say this though.
- 7:37Give him the fucking money. Like after I saw Iron Man, I was
- 7:39like, right, whatever you got to do, get him back.
- 7:42This is I would like to see more of this but now I'm like OK.
- 7:46Yeah, probably too much now. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:49Iron Man three. I think there's only the six or
- 7:51seven of us that like that movie, but.
- 7:54But the the trailer is just it's you see someone riding a bike
- 7:56and then you see Steve Rogers hold the baby, and then it says.
- 8:00Oh, Steve is holding the baby OK.
- 8:02OK, yeah. And then it pops up and it gets
- 8:04says Steve Rogers will return in a ventures day because.
- 8:07And then really small as it says, because you guys weren't
- 8:10watching these and we really. Wanted to watch because this is
- 8:12how we've put it back. This is literally the last time
- 8:13we're going to try this. We have spent a lot of money.
- 8:16Yeah, and we if you don't like this, we don't know what you
- 8:17like exactly. Yeah, so.
- 8:23Well, no, I think it was the whole case with the whole Marvel
- 8:25Universe was they basically got to a point where everyone got
- 8:29built up to an ending, it ended, and then they kept going.
- 8:33The last one even had the word end.
- 8:35In the name, they just they just can't figure out what is it that
- 8:38people liked about these and why don't they like them anymore and
- 8:42the. Continuity was what we liked,
- 8:44and you finished the story. We wrapped it up and everyone's
- 8:47over it now. But yeah.
- 8:50Because the whole idea that felt like it was like every other
- 8:52movie was we're retiring and this is their replacement.
- 8:54We're retiring. This is a replacement, which is
- 8:56not what we want I think. No, that's the opposite of
- 8:59continuity A. Few times is what they should
- 9:02have done. Was end game stopped, waited a
- 9:05couple of years, reboot with another storyline and just go
- 9:09again. Yeah.
- 9:10Yeah, I have Spider. Characters that don't have the
- 9:14same people just complete reboot.
- 9:16Just remakes. They love remakes, yeah.
- 9:19Redo. I mean, if you have to do it
- 9:20like the soft reboot where you you just wait a couple of years
- 9:22and then you have fucking. Captain America, the First
- 9:25Avenger and and Thor again. Yeah, but I mean, if you have to
- 9:30have Robert Downey Junior as an old man coming in and go on,
- 9:33you're the next one. OK, fine.
- 9:34But then get him out of there. Yeah, well, yeah, this raises a
- 9:42lot of questions that I don't actually care about because it's
- 9:44stupid. But Steve Rogers showed up as an
- 9:47old man and said I stopped being Captain America.
- 9:51So does he. He's lying.
- 9:52Will he? But the whole thing you got to
- 9:54remember is but he's. Not an old man in this anymore,
- 9:56right? No.
- 9:58Okay, this might be said before then this might be a prequel.
- 10:00Yeah, but then he lied about how he was like.
- 10:02I retired and I settled down. Yes, and I never did except.
- 10:06For that time, I I did fight Doctor Doom.
- 10:09Who's Doctor Doom? Yeah, don't.
- 10:10Worry about it. I'll tell you know Stark, Yeah.
- 10:13Looks like him. Looks like him a lot, yeah.
- 10:17No, I honestly. Do you remember?
- 10:18Do you remember? You remember Kang?
- 10:19No. Yeah.
- 10:20Neither do we. So don't even talk about.
- 10:23It no, it's all going to be multi version later.
- 10:25That's how you get in the Fantastic Four to come across
- 10:28and stuff like that. Yeah.
- 10:29Do you want to see the Fantastic Four movie?
- 10:30I haven't seen that yet. Fantastic Four was good.
- 10:32It's on Disney Plus. And in fact, I've not even seen
- 10:35season 2 of Loki, which I really liked season 1, so I should go
- 10:38back and watch. I have not.
- 10:39I literally I just went. I've got to stop.
- 10:44I'll be honest, I've got a bit of, I've got a bit of fatigue
- 10:47even. Sorry, we're talking over each
- 10:49other. Sorry listeners.
- 10:52Sorry Luke but no the the second season lucky is good, you should
- 10:56watch it. It's not as strong as the first
- 10:58one, but the ending does tie everything up.
- 11:01Does it still have wow is? That guy's name?
- 11:06Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson.
- 11:07Does it still have Owen Wilson in it?
- 11:08Actually, does he still have the mustache?
- 11:10Yes. OK, because that for me was that
- 11:13and the alligator were the highlights of.
- 11:14Season 1 if Steve. So if they brought back Chris
- 11:16Evans with a mustache, you'd be interested?
- 11:19I'd be much more likely, yeah. Yeah.
- 11:21With the beard he had in end game, I was all I was all in.
- 11:24Oh. Yeah, that's true.
- 11:25Yeah, he did look good. I must admit, and Matt, you can
- 11:30tell me that I'm stupid if you'd like, but I am.
- 11:33I'm even a bit fatigued about Stranger Things.
- 11:36I've, I popped it on the first two episodes and I'm like, oh,
- 11:41I've seen a lot of this now. Are we still going?
- 11:44So I'm watching it. I've watched up to I've got 1
- 11:48episode left in the current lot. So they released about this
- 11:51release schedule. I mean, I know we've talked
- 11:52about this, but like, what are they doing?
- 11:54Why are they doing this? Like what?
- 11:56Christmas Day, A New Year's Day. Yeah, well, not for us.
- 12:00Boxing Day for us and in the day after New Year's for us.
- 12:03Yeah, fair enough. But it's just like, what do you,
- 12:05what is this? You expect people to cancel
- 12:07their fucking Christmas and New Year's plans to watch this show?
- 12:09Like, what do you think? How important do you think you
- 12:11are? It's just so weird to me.
- 12:13Like, what is the I wasn't thinking behind this.
- 12:15It's really strange. But I've got one well left and
- 12:20I'm enjoying it. But yeah, the other thing that
- 12:22we did was we watched a recap and forgive me if I've already
- 12:25said this, but we watched a recap of everything beforehand.
- 12:28And having done that and watching this, it's it is
- 12:31obvious that this stuff wasn't the case right back in season 1
- 12:38and two kind of thing. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 12:39Exactly. And I had I, I watched the recap
- 12:41too, and I yeah, I really do find we've we've come full
- 12:45circle. I mean, they left the door open
- 12:46a little, but like, come on. Also it's.
- 12:49Not bad or anything, it's just like.
- 12:50No, it's not bad. I've just.
- 12:51You never mentioned that back, right, two years ago or three or
- 12:55it was now 10 years ago now. I also feel there's a lot of
- 12:59characters with their own fucking backstories now, and it
- 13:02used to be about the kids doing their thing and now there's just
- 13:06this huge group. Everyone's got their thing.
- 13:08Maya Hawks become disproportionately famous
- 13:10compared to everyone else, so. They've just written.
- 13:13Written her in. Like just really written her in.
- 13:16But no, it's just I don't know. I think it's I haven't even
- 13:19started watching it, but I think it's just because it's been so
- 13:22long. I think it's had of come out
- 13:25when originally planned. I probably would have been a lot
- 13:27more interested instead of having to go and watch a recap
- 13:30to remember. Something else.
- 13:32There's a bit where I won't, no one spoil anything, but there's
- 13:35a date that comes up that's important and then it's like the
- 13:39OK. Yeah, an.
- 13:42Anniversary of something and I was like is is he only supposed
- 13:46to have been one year because they are old?
- 13:51They're very old. Yeah.
- 13:53These children. Some of these children have
- 13:55their own children in real life now.
- 13:58Like, that was a weird, like, Oh yeah.
- 14:02Because yeah, that's a weird thing.
- 14:04But I mean, they can't help that.
- 14:05It's just. I thought that was very funny.
- 14:06They they. Oh yeah.
- 14:07It's been one year since. It's been one year since Will
- 14:10was a fucking baby. Yeah.
- 14:12Talking about yeah, yeah. He had a growth.
- 14:15Spurt and yet they do act like they're they're much older even.
- 14:22The behaviour is different because of course they're more
- 14:24mature people. And if they make sense, it would
- 14:27look ridiculous if they were still.
- 14:28Mummy Beckman's got me. Help me Mummy.
- 14:31He was like, Will's this fucking 20 year old guy.
- 14:35Yeah, I mean, he's still got the same haircut.
- 14:37He's still got that bold cut. He does have the heck out.
- 14:38They make a joke about it actually.
- 14:40Do they excellent? Yeah.
- 14:42And then there's also the discussion about how now, what
- 14:48do you mean, but how Will's acting is not at the same level
- 14:53as the others. I see the actor Noah, whatever
- 14:56it is, and to the point where I've read stuff online and I'm
- 14:59like, that's fucking mean. But.
- 15:02But because he's been doing, he's not been in anything else.
- 15:06And all the others have done a lot of other things and, and
- 15:11once it was pointed out, I'm watching it and I'm like, yeah,
- 15:14he's not great. Well, if you recall, in Season
- 15:181, all he had to do was look scared.
- 15:20He didn't have any lines. Because yeah, like 2 years old
- 15:24or whatever. Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 15:25He was just this little kid who just had to look scared and now
- 15:27they're stuck with him and they've, they've hired, you
- 15:30know, fucking Sadie's sink and all these other good child
- 15:33actors. Good since then, yeah, she's
- 15:35she's very good. That's why I mean, you put them
- 15:37in scenes together and it's just very apparent that it's just,
- 15:39there's like a, you know, anyway, but with people being
- 15:42really mean because he's given interviews about how he's all,
- 15:44you know, I'm really excited about what comes next, SO1
- 15:48replied and said like, what's next is 50 years of conventions
- 15:51for you, mate. Signings of conventions is what
- 15:56you'll be doing. Wow.
- 15:58That means wow, Yeah, that's mean.
- 16:01Power to it if he's. If he's smart, get behind the
- 16:03other. I've not seen Anthony Daniels in
- 16:05anything else so. And he's a good actor.
- 16:09He's not talking about doing anything else.
- 16:10No, he knows. He knows.
- 16:12He just knew he didn't need to. Yeah, fucking retired.
- 16:15I mean, he, this guy doesn't either.
- 16:17None of them. They're all set up for life.
- 16:19It's just, yeah, sad. Are they though?
- 16:22Well, they could be if they play their cards.
- 16:24Right, they're smart. Well, I I don't know if they
- 16:28wouldn't have got paid a lot for the first couple of seasons.
- 16:32I. Remember, I don't think they're
- 16:33sitting on. I mean, they're five seasons in,
- 16:35they've got of negotiate, especially the ones who have
- 16:38gone on to do bigger things like.
- 16:39Fucking Millie Bobby Brown does not have to work another day in
- 16:42her life if she doesn't. Want to yeah, no, she's done
- 16:44tons though, but. Will that Finn Wolfhark guy?
- 16:47He's doing tons, all sorts of stuff.
- 16:49Yeah. But but yeah, it's the other
- 16:50stuff. If this is all they're relying
- 16:52on, which is what? Yeah, sounds like he's going to
- 16:54be relying on me. I wonder if that goes to be
- 16:56funny for him, too, where they're all like, yeah, and
- 16:58they're all like, yeah, we all have money.
- 16:59And he's like, oh, my money turned out like, shut up, mate.
- 17:01Yeah, go stand in the corner. Yeah, we're going to pay you by
- 17:06the lines and you haven't got a many lines in this season.
- 17:09So just he. Does this season?
- 17:11Oh, does he he? Does because he's like a loose
- 17:14end. Yes, right, right.
- 17:15That's. What people are saying, it's
- 17:16like so sad. Well, he was the Mac Guffins of
- 17:19Season 1. You know, he didn't even have a
- 17:21character. He never really.
- 17:22It's just the. Boy who went missing or
- 17:23whatever, Yeah. Yeah, anyway.
- 17:26OK, what else did you see, Luke? Yeah.
- 17:29The other thing I saw which I saw yesterday was it.
- 17:33Yes, I saw Anaconda. Oh, OK, OK.
- 17:39Now, I haven't seen a favorite for that, but I've seen a lot of
- 17:42buses with posters on the side. I've seen clips yeah from it and
- 17:48it looks ridiculous. It is ridiculous, but it made me
- 17:52want to make movies with you guys again.
- 17:54And that's you've. Seen a big snake?
- 17:56Reminded you of me. No, the whole idea, the whole
- 17:59premise of it is, is these guys in their 40s have all gone their
- 18:04separate ways. They come back for a birthday
- 18:07party, they show video of what they made when they were kids,
- 18:11and then they're like, let's go remake Anaconda.
- 18:15Oh what I know. OK, I am much more likely to
- 18:19watch this now. And that was the whole idea of
- 18:22the movie. And then they do run into a real
- 18:24stake and the whole idea proves the movies.
- 18:27Was these guys going and just remaking Anaconda as?
- 18:32Interesting. Stuff that they used to make as
- 18:34when they were kids. OK, I mean, that's cool.
- 18:37I like when because this is a remake of Anaconda technically
- 18:41like on paper. So I like that it's completely.
- 18:45Yeah. Different direction.
- 18:47Yeah, and that just made me think of like when we used to
- 18:50make stuff, how cool it would be if we went off and went, yeah,
- 18:53let's take three I've. Often thought about making those
- 18:56things again yeah and setting the proviso that we're not
- 19:00allowed to make it better it has to be like if we didn't do it
- 19:04then we can't do it now it can look better but you're not
- 19:06allowed to give more back story or anything the.
- 19:08Back story, the one I really think we should make is what was
- 19:12it, the city? Vacuum.
- 19:15The vacuum, that's the one I really.
- 19:17Think train overpass. Yeah, that's the one.
- 19:19I'm not in that one. What a location.
- 19:21Fuck you, Luke, I'm not in that. But you can be can't.
- 19:27Change anything. We said you can't make it
- 19:31better. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:33So I'm out. Yeah.
- 19:34So you. Can just come along that you're
- 19:37the will of this group, if you know what I mean.
- 19:41Thanks, Danny. Actually, the will of that movie
- 19:44was someone who couldn't stay still for five seconds while he
- 19:46tried to film it because he died like Jason.
- 19:51Yeah. Oh that's true and in the end I
- 19:54used a steel frame, 1 frame and just a slight pan out to make it
- 19:58look like he was dead. Lie on the ground, that's true.
- 20:02Not move. And he just kept playing with
- 20:05grass. I mean, I'm not surprised.
- 20:11And I've said odd Dick. It's a nice way to say it, isn't
- 20:13it? An odd duck.
- 20:15Yes. Yeah, and I think Dave murdered
- 20:17him. Yep, and then also in the movie
- 20:22his character murdered his character.
- 20:25And then we become instant friends.
- 20:27We walk off together. That's right.
- 20:32And had the multiple endings. Did it like clue?
- 20:37It did have multiple endings. Yeah, that's.
- 20:39True, it's off ending the. Remaining clue is excellent.
- 20:41And I've got to rewatch Clue. Yeah, well, I think they keep
- 20:45talking about remaking Clue, so we'll see how that is.
- 20:47But Clue is a. Master, nice out.
- 20:49Speaking of Clue, I've got to watch.
- 20:50That. It's out.
- 20:51I don't watch. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:53I'll have a look at it. The second one's pretty good.
- 20:55Yeah, the second one's, no, I, I it's not because I don't want
- 20:58to. I didn't mind the first one and
- 20:59I think we should try and keep right away from Star Wars.
- 21:04And I still forgot so I can excuse you for.
- 21:08I think the reason I think we can all agree though, the reason
- 21:11he had to make three of these, or at least three, was because
- 21:14now he can be like, I've got my fucking trilogy more than a Star
- 21:17Wars trilogy, but it was a trilogy.
- 21:19Yeah, when I said it was a Star Wars trilogy, you thought was
- 21:21actually going to be a Star Wars movie, but it's not.
- 21:23It's just. Yeah.
- 21:23No, no, no, no. What I was saying was Star Wars
- 21:27than trilogy. Trilogy.
- 21:29That's what I meant the whole time.
- 21:30If you're going to watch any Rian Johnson movie, go and watch
- 21:32Brick. Brick is excellent.
- 21:36Just don't watch. Don't watch.
- 21:39Last today, don't watch Brothers Macmillan or whatever that one
- 21:42was that came out, Brothers Bloom, whatever.
- 21:45Just don't, don't watch any of that.
- 21:47Definitely don't watch the one episode he directed of Breaking
- 21:50Bad. The worst episode of that show
- 21:55guys. When all he'd made is Brick.
- 21:57I was like this guy. This is the guy Brick.
- 22:00He's. Incredible.
- 22:02From what I understand, yeah. Yeah, he seems like a really
- 22:04nice guy. Yeah.
- 22:07He's just, I just don't like his movies that much.
- 22:10Yeah, he said. Brick Ryan, if you're listening,
- 22:13I really did like Brick I. Haven't seen I, I I I still hate
- 22:18you for what you did to Luke. He means so Mark Hamill.
- 22:22And him because he had to watch you.
- 22:24Yes. Yeah.
- 22:25Do that to Luke. Now Luke refers to himself in
- 22:27the third person. Like Donald Trump strangely now.
- 22:33So that's Anaconda and. Foreign Ash, and then the last
- 22:37movie I watched was Snatches. Snatches.
- 22:39Yeah, I've heard. Yeah, I don't know.
- 22:41I. Forgot to look it up I.
- 22:42Don't I? Don't I?
- 22:42When you said it. You just come.
- 22:44In Oh, it's an Australian movie. Yes.
- 22:46And it's got based off the book and I'm going, oh, after the
- 22:50movie I want to read the book. And then I realized, no, it's
- 22:52based off it's inspired by the 1888 book The Body Statues.
- 22:57Oh, this isn't very. Loosely inspired.
- 23:00This is an older movie. Yeah.
- 23:01It's like. No, this is this year 202520251
- 23:09and. Oh yeah, it's a different movie.
- 23:11All I can say without ruining is basically two guys, they're
- 23:15having money problems, they sneak a body out of the
- 23:18hospital, they're going to cut her up to sell her organs and
- 23:21she wakes up. And that's all I can really say
- 23:23without ruining the movie. But.
- 23:25But it's good. I found it great.
- 23:28You're right, Matt. It's a 2019 film that comes up
- 23:31when you then you can. Actually watch it right now for
- 23:33free online. Plus I found out it's already on
- 23:37streaming in Australia. I think they did a limited
- 23:40cinema run or something right? OK.
- 23:44OK, bookmarking this all right, This looks all right.
- 23:47Written, directed and starring someone called Craig.
- 23:51Craig Alexander. I'm gonna say Craig Anderson.
- 23:54Craig Alexander. For for a second, when I was
- 23:56sitting there, I was going hold on, Craig, he said that, that
- 23:59Craig No, no, it's Alexander or not.
- 24:01Yeah, I mean, this type of movie, it definitely could have
- 24:03been. Really, when I was watching it,
- 24:05I could have seen him doing this.
- 24:09I'm trying to think of. I'll sort of scroll through and
- 24:11see if I know anybody really interesting.
- 24:13That's what I was just doing too.
- 24:14Like do I know anybody who worked on this?
- 24:17I'm going that's probably not A and I don't think it would have
- 24:20cost a lot to make it looks like it's like a two locations
- 24:23really. Yeah, it looks very nice, Like
- 24:25there's stills it looks, yes. Well shot.
- 24:28Well, no, that that's that's my big recommendation from.
- 24:31What I There's only eight people listed in the cast.
- 24:33Are they more people? It looks like a movie.
- 24:35Or is it just very small? It's very small.
- 24:39The look of it reminds me of The Autopsy of Jane Doe, which is a
- 24:42fucking excellent movie. Oh.
- 24:43That is a good movie. That was that was one of those
- 24:47sleeper hits, Yeah. Basically, there's a scene in
- 24:50when they're in the hospital where there's lots of people,
- 24:51but then for the rest of the movie it's just three of them.
- 24:54Yeah, right. OK.
- 24:57I will be watching this. This looks right up my alley.
- 24:59OK. Thank you.
- 25:00That's that's and I'm actually recommending a movie and it
- 25:04really made me read a book until I found out it was just.
- 25:07You could still read body statues.
- 25:09That's Robert Louis Stevenson, right?
- 25:11Yes. Go on, fucking read it.
- 25:14He's a great writer. I think I have read it, yeah,
- 25:16like many years ago when I used to read like, but no, the story
- 25:20that old the story was based on like if it was a bit closer, I
- 25:24probably would have read the book.
- 25:27Yeah. Right.
- 25:28Yeah, that's very, very different, Very different from
- 25:31the book, but definitely worth a watch.
- 25:36I will. Did.
- 25:37You see the trailer for the Odyssey before anything.
- 25:41No. 2 Movies OK. It's online trailer for Toys
- 25:44today. Oh.
- 25:45Yeah. Yeah, we can definitely talk
- 25:48about that, especially since my Christmas present this year was
- 25:54this little golden book of, oh, look at that, Steven Spielberg.
- 25:59That's very cool. This might be the first
- 26:01Spielberg movie I've liked in a while.
- 26:05We haven't seen it yet, but we'll see.
- 26:06Yeah. I mean.
- 26:08It looks fucking great. I'll I'll say I'm all in.
- 26:10I am all in if this is what I think it is.
- 26:13Yeah, well, it's sort of hard to work out what it is.
- 26:16Is it aliens? Is it God?
- 26:17Is it? Maybe it's a bit of both.
- 26:21Yeah, I did not know this was coming.
- 26:24I didn't. I was like, well, I did not know
- 26:25Steven Spielberg was currently directing into the.
- 26:27I thought the Fable woman was like his.
- 26:30I thought he was like going, you know, piercing out after that
- 26:32for some. Reason I disliked the Fablemans
- 26:34so much that I ended up just skipping through and watching
- 26:38only the sequences where he was making a movie because they were
- 26:42very interesting. The movies he was making as a
- 26:44kid were very interesting. Yeah, the stuff about like, oh
- 26:47God, my mum's sexy, like all that and like could do without.
- 26:52Everyone is this idiot. Yeah, and Ready Player 1.
- 26:58That's. Not great, it's not.
- 26:59Great. Well, the the thing that also I
- 27:01know about really like. About it yeah.
- 27:02Bits. Yeah, there, there was no.
- 27:05Thing that really got me is he sort of lost touch with what's
- 27:10what people are watching now. You've got this very science
- 27:13fiction movie, but you don't have like a big credit sequence
- 27:17or anything that's sort of thrown in there because that's
- 27:20not what he does. That's not that's not I.
- 27:22Don't care about that. No, but that just appeared very
- 27:25good that and that just made me feel that he's lost touch with
- 27:28what the audience look at. That.
- 27:31What can even Schindler's List is in here.
- 27:33Fucking hell, that's a movie. Fucking hell.
- 27:36I watched Jurassic Park about two weeks ago because.
- 27:40Did you say Jurassic? Park.
- 27:41Jurassic Park. Yeah.
- 27:44I don't know why. I don't know why I said it like
- 27:46that, but that's a great fucking movie.
- 27:53That's all I'm gonna say about yeah.
- 27:54Jurassic Park? Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:57I don't know, there's movies I like, like Jurassic Park, and
- 27:59then there's other movies I think are horrible, like close
- 28:02Encounters. No close encounters.
- 28:04Great. Some of the Indiana Joneses.
- 28:07Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Up to sorry.
- 28:10See, I don't even think about it.
- 28:11Yes, the the yeah, the three Indiana Jones movies that he
- 28:14made. Back in the Haiti's.
- 28:16Oh, 70s and 80s, yeah, and. 80s are very yeah no, no, no.
- 28:20First one is 1980 and the last one I think is 19910.
- 28:22Yeah, you're right. Yeah, you're right. 80s and 90s,
- 28:27yeah. Spielberg's fucking the bomb.
- 28:29And I like, I love watching, trying to think of, you know,
- 28:31obviously tons of video essays on YouTube about his film making
- 28:35and stuff like that. And it's always so interesting
- 28:36because he did used to do so many cool things that we take
- 28:39for granted now too. And like, there's that one, just
- 28:42there's one that's all about, it's actually mostly about
- 28:44Raiders of the Lost Ark and just about the this is staging of
- 28:48scenes and how information dense they are.
- 28:51Like people are doing things that tells you things in the
- 28:54back. And it's just like, yeah, it's
- 28:55very, it's good. And then I I just stopped doing
- 28:59that stuff. Yeah, I think.
- 29:00You just sort of. Lost.
- 29:01But then again, then there's just Munich and War of the
- 29:05Worlds came out the same year. Oh yeah, what a year.
- 29:09You know, Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can.
- 29:12They came out the same year. Yeah.
- 29:16Yeah, there's a 12 hour long. In the craft mall.
- 29:21Maybe now he's kind. Of like, yeah, but don't forget
- 29:23also there was as many misses as hits early on like he made.
- 29:28I'm just gonna I'm gonna get the the timing right so I'm gonna
- 29:30look here. So dual obviously 1971, then a
- 29:33bunch of TV movies and Jaws in 75.
- 29:37Close Encounters 77. The episode of Columbo.
- 29:40Yeah, that was before then. 71, same year as dual, but then he
- 29:44went and made 1941, which was an absolute flop.
- 29:47Oh. Yeah.
- 29:50Right. Then followed that up with
- 29:51Raiders. Followed that up with ET.
- 29:52Yep. Yep.
- 29:54Then another Indiana Jones. Then he did a whole bunch of TV.
- 29:57Then he did The Color Purple. That's right.
- 30:01Yeah, The Empire of the Sun. Then another Jenna Jones, then a
- 30:04movie called Always which I have seen and basically forgot, then
- 30:07Hawk which I still think is really good but he fucking hates
- 30:10it. I've read it's an article the
- 30:13other day about how I was like, why did we said something about
- 30:15why did we let kids watch Hawk? And I never read it because I
- 30:17was like, I don't want to hear bad things about Hawk.
- 30:19I yeah, I did read that. I saw that exact one too.
- 30:24Yeah. Just that it's it's really grim.
- 30:26It's it's it's actually really quite grim when you, when you
- 30:28think about it as a kid. Yeah.
- 30:30That's what movies in the 80s were.
- 30:32They were just fucking dark adventures.
- 30:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:35It was the we were tough enough to watch those.
- 30:37Yeah, like. That blurry episode.
- 30:39Yeah, that's right. Your mums mean like seats were.
- 30:41High mums were mean in the 80s. Yeah, at the time, mums could be
- 30:44mean. She's whacking him with the
- 30:46thong and blue. Yeah.
- 30:47You're like, he's like, how's the 80s?
- 30:49It's fine, yeah. That's so true.
- 30:52I love that episode. I love it.
- 30:55You mentioned the Odyssey very briefly, yes.
- 30:59And I just want to say a couple of things about that.
- 31:00Number one, yes, I'm all in. I'm.
- 31:03All in, yeah. Looks great.
- 31:06Actually. I thought Matt Damon was an odd
- 31:08choice for Odysseus. Assuming he's an Odysseus, He
- 31:13is, yeah. And he's in several Christopher
- 31:17Nolan movies, but he's always a supporting role.
- 31:19And I know he's been the lead in many, many films, but for some
- 31:22reason him as the lead in a Christopher Nolan movie doesn't
- 31:25seem right, but I trust Nolan. Was like a surprise appearance
- 31:28in Interstellar at 1st and then and they hid that.
- 31:31I don't know why they hid that, but anyway, whatever that was.
- 31:33Just, oh man, that paid off for me when I was in the cinema.
- 31:37And then he pulls off that helmet and it's Matt fucking
- 31:39Damon. Yeah, that's fair.
- 31:42Yeah, it's just. But it wasn't like, it's not
- 31:45like he's a recurring character or anything.
- 31:47He didn't have the no, he just had the.
- 31:48Payoff of his no meaning. He was a celebrity that you're
- 31:50familiar with. Yeah, that's right.
- 31:52Yeah. It's just funny that they went
- 31:54to the effort to hide it. Yeah, this looks great.
- 31:59I mean, doesn't tell you a lot. I mean, we know what the story
- 32:02is. It's the story of the Odyssey.
- 32:03Yeah, it looks incredible. I.
- 32:06Mean, yeah. And I wonder how this trailer
- 32:09doesn't really give it away. I wonder how deep into the
- 32:12mythology they're going to lean. Is there going to be magic?
- 32:15At least a fair bit into it because I've read about.
- 32:19All right, things that are filming great, like.
- 32:22Creatures and whatnot. Yes, yeah, there's, there's a
- 32:24bit of if, if those who don't know, there's some supernatural
- 32:27stuff. Yeah, and apparently it's in
- 32:29there. So basically there's context.
- 32:31There's the Iliad, which comes first, which is about the Trojan
- 32:34War, and then there's the Odyssey, which comes second,
- 32:36which is about the voyage back. And I found out recently, you
- 32:42know, the the Trojan horse, the big, big wooden horse and Greeks
- 32:45bearing gifts. Not in the Iliad, not in the
- 32:49Iliad stops before the end of the war and then the Odyssey
- 32:53picks up on their way home. That fucking horse is only in
- 32:58the Aeneid, one other book about the Trojan War.
- 33:01Everyone just like combines them in their mind.
- 33:04Sure. Yeah, because the story of Troy.
- 33:06Totally different story. Thing I don't I don't think
- 33:08people who would know what where it came from because I just
- 33:10think we might. The rest the rest is history
- 33:12where they're talking about is is there a Troy or was there a
- 33:15Troy? And the answer is we actually
- 33:17don't know. Yeah, maybe.
- 33:19And maybe in some form, but definitely not in the way that
- 33:21it says in the books. No, no, no.
- 33:23Well, so that leaves a little bit to People are already
- 33:25arguing about the Odyssey trailer because they're saying,
- 33:27you know, it's not historically accurate.
- 33:30Some of the stuff been a lot anachronistic or whatever, like
- 33:33it's wouldn't have looked like that would have been like that.
- 33:35And then but then other people are like you.
- 33:36But the book isn't. The story is not it was.
- 33:39And I think what a lot of people.
- 33:40Rated things from his time in the story that he was telling
- 33:43about the past. Yes, it's it's a myth even at
- 33:46its time and I think people assume that it's set in ancient
- 33:50Greece but it isn't. It was written in the Greek dark
- 33:53ages before the classical period, and even when it was
- 33:56written it was about the deep Mycenaean past like.
- 33:59So it was, but it contained modern to them things that
- 34:03didn't make sense then. So yeah.
- 34:05Like if you read Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, you can't go,
- 34:09well, that's not historically accurate to Julius Caesar.
- 34:11It's like, no, but it is historically accurate to William
- 34:13Shakespeare's. Times Caesar didn't talk like
- 34:14that. Yeah.
- 34:17Yeah. So it's kind of a pointless
- 34:19debate in a way. Also it's not a documentary
- 34:22mate, it's a movie. Yeah, yeah, it's not.
- 34:24It's not historical text. I saw a great meme.
- 34:27It was somebody put the tweet by someone who had made their own
- 34:29sketches over it. He's like, this is what
- 34:31Agamemnon looks like in the film.
- 34:33This is what he should look like and somebody's written.
- 34:35Well then, we're lucky that this is being made by Christopher
- 34:38Nolan and not some geek on the Internet.
- 34:41Because Agamemnon looks fucking sick.
- 34:42Yeah, he. Looks fucking great and it's the
- 34:45fucking hard ass dude from from the the Bomb movie.
- 34:52The the bomb or Bond? Bomb the what's it called
- 34:56Oppenheimer? Reminded me it's.
- 34:57His mate. Bomb movie.
- 35:01Got it, Got it. The bomb movie.
- 35:03Yeah, now I'm with you. I'm too old to be able to
- 35:06conjure names of things. I watch something, I'm going to
- 35:09put it in there. Yeah, no, this looks fucking
- 35:14great. And like I said, I don't care
- 35:16about historical accuracy because it's not a true story.
- 35:18It's not a documentary. It's it's, it's a movie.
- 35:20It's entertainment. And if you had read this book.
- 35:23Cyclops. To anyone in ancient Greece and
- 35:25said, do you think this is true? They'd look at you and go, no
- 35:27idiot, it's a fucking story. Yeah.
- 35:30Also, do you think that this is real?
- 35:31No, Graham, it's not. That's right.
- 35:34Plato is just trying to teach us stuff and we don't want to hear
- 35:37it. So he's gonna make.
- 35:38Me irrelevant. He's trying to make it
- 35:40interesting, yeah. Cool.
- 35:46I mean, now that you've watched something.
- 35:48Now that you've put this in there, I want to, I want to know
- 35:49about Goldeneye. Yeah, I watched Goldeneye.
- 35:51I've done some up to Pierce Brosnan.
- 35:53I've got thoughts because it's been a long time since I watched
- 35:56Goldeneye. I realized that when I put it
- 35:58on. This movie is amazing.
- 36:02Fucking excellent. It's fucking excellent.
- 36:04Good, good. It is, however, so 90s, yeah.
- 36:08I was like, it was like I was bathing in my teenage years and
- 36:12all that. That first scene after the the
- 36:14teaser sequence where they're where they're racing and there's
- 36:16that bum. But yes, bum bum, bum music.
- 36:19And it's like, what am I watching?
- 36:22And and it's like it's the James Bond theme, but done No, and but
- 36:26it's got that. Even the opening sequence has
- 36:28that thing. This is just so 90s to me
- 36:31because con air, I think sounds like this.
- 36:32They all sound like this where it's like.
- 36:35Yeah, yeah. Like hollow.
- 36:39Yeah, yeah, Like, boom. Like weird industrial sounds and
- 36:42stuff. And I'm just like, oh fuck yes,
- 36:44yeah, this is good. And it's such a because the
- 36:47Dalton ones are incredibly 80s. Right.
- 36:51In, in in the same way. So I think I I might have said
- 36:56before, because I do love the Connery ones.
- 36:59I liked the Roger Moore ones more than I thought I was going
- 37:02to because I always remember them being cheesy and stuff,
- 37:04though they're good. And he's Roger Moore is fucking
- 37:07pretty creepy as a womanizing borderline breakfast.
- 37:12I'd say borderline, but the Dalton and the Brosnan ones are
- 37:19pretty fucking good, I gotta say.
- 37:20Right. Yeah.
- 37:22So far anyway. Yeah.
- 37:22Have you? Yeah.
- 37:23Have you, Have you? Have you only gone up to
- 37:25colonize? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've.
- 37:26Got some news for you? Yeah, I think, Well, we'll see.
- 37:29No, because maybe in context. No, not die another day.
- 37:32Tomorrow never dies. I think he's.
- 37:34I remember being pretty good. One of them is quite good.
- 37:39But the world is not enough. I've never seen that in the
- 37:42movies. And even that's and it had
- 37:43Denise Richards in it, which I was.
- 37:46Quite excited, man, yeah. And I still thought that was a
- 37:49bit shit. That's the one.
- 37:51That's basically Rupert Murdoch is the villain, right?
- 37:54No, that's that's Torre never dies.
- 37:56That's he's on the submarine or whatever and he's got, I got.
- 38:00It's the next one, right? I haven't watched it again yet,
- 38:02but I remember that one being all right.
- 38:04It's the guy from Brazil. Yes, that actor.
- 38:07Pryce, Jeremy Pryce, Jonathan Pryce, Jonathan Pryce.
- 38:12He's good anyway. Golden.
- 38:14I love it. Sean Bean love it.
- 38:17Right as 006. Yes, Alexi.
- 38:20Yeah. And he had that whole opening
- 38:22sequence. It didn't give it give it away
- 38:24that he's got a Russian name. I mean spoilers.
- 38:27He calls him Alex. He calls him.
- 38:29All right, Yeah, OK. Yeah, He just calls him Alex.
- 38:31And then, yeah, the plot of it, I didn't recall.
- 38:34The plot of it is a little bit like, so he was like a Cossack
- 38:38and he moved to England or whatever.
- 38:40And it's. I was never quite.
- 38:42I'm probably wasn't paying enough attention because I was
- 38:45too busy enjoying the vibe of it.
- 38:47Yeah, but I was so remember thinking, I don't really
- 38:50understand why he's suddenly so they were like friends, friends,
- 38:54friends, and now he's like fucking die like.
- 38:57And not just England, but you specifically James.
- 39:00Yeah, I can hate. You James Bond?
- 39:01Yeah, I never quite got this time.
- 39:04Like why does he become such a cunt?
- 39:09Anyway, good movie from memory and directed by the same
- 39:12director as Casino Royale. Come back first Casino Royale
- 39:16which I think is amazing. Also a.
- 39:18Great game, yes? Great game and good.
- 39:21Action and one of my favorite Bond cars, although he only
- 39:24drives it for one second. The BMW.
- 39:27The Z3, yeah. Yeah, he also drives the the DB5
- 39:32in this at the start when he's racing the Ferrari, he's driving
- 39:35the Sean Connery in DB5, which is I think the first time, the
- 39:38first time they again after. And now, now everyone just knows
- 39:42that as James Bond's car. Yeah, which is funny because
- 39:45only Connery drove it up until then.
- 39:47And then Connery only drove it in Goldfinger too.
- 39:50Wasn't it like it? It didn't just happen in every
- 39:52movie. Thunderball as well.
- 39:53Yeah, it's in two. Thunderball had the big jets
- 39:55that shoot water out the back and it was only in the opening
- 39:57scene, I think in. Maybe he drives it a bit more
- 40:01later, but Goldeneye was the that yes, Goldfinger was the one
- 40:05he was mainly in. But anyway, I forgot that Pierce
- 40:08Brosnan drove it at all. I was thinking it was Connery
- 40:12and then and it got brought back for.
- 40:14Because all the Connery ones, they're sponsored not by Aston
- 40:17Martin but by BMW, and I think BMW told them What Car to use
- 40:21for each one too. Because I think in the next one
- 40:22it's just a family saloon. He's got like an M3 or
- 40:25something. Yeah, I don't even know if it's
- 40:27an M3. I think yeah, it's like it's
- 40:29like a four door. Yeah, Yes, I think it's yeah.
- 40:32What do we want to really market this year?
- 40:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:36The one that he controls with this phone, He's Nokia, yes.
- 40:39That's right, yeah. Bring back the Nokia.
- 40:42Which is, OK, So you're going to push those brands.
- 40:44I mean, BMW is a luxury brand, but not in the James Bond sense.
- 40:49Like, like when you look at Daniel Craig, he's got the Aston
- 40:52Martin back, He's wearing Omega watches.
- 40:54He's like, it's just like. Yeah, but even though Omega
- 40:57shit, Omega's not Rolex or particularly like there's
- 41:00there's there's better watches he could have on Yeah, but like
- 41:03it's shows that he's. Casio for a but for a long time,
- 41:06which I I loved seeing that. That's amazing it.
- 41:09Hadn't occurred to me James Bond's wearing a fucking Casio
- 41:11digital watch. You should technology collect
- 41:14all of the Cassio James Bond watchers.
- 41:17That's an attainable collection. Yeah, that.
- 41:20Is. Yeah, not going to.
- 41:22Not doing the amazing. But then just stop.
- 41:24Yeah, exactly. Or the yeah, the Connery,
- 41:26definitely. He had like submariners, I
- 41:28think, throughout the different movies, and I can't afford that.
- 41:31And I bet you got to keep him at the end.
- 41:34Probably. Yeah, Probably did.
- 41:36That'd be one of those things that's in his contract, like
- 41:38with any of because I know sometimes I have contracts like
- 41:40I, I get to keep the wardrobe and stuff like that.
- 41:42Keep the watch and I get to keep her.
- 41:44Mate, I did, I did a one day shoot with can I say I better
- 41:50not say with an Australian former what's what's the rapist?
- 41:59No, no, no, no, no. Wasn't a not a rapist.
- 42:05Do you remember that period in the 90s and 2000s where ethnic
- 42:10comedy was really, really in? Yeah, one of those guys.
- 42:14Yeah, one of those guys. I won't say which one, but one
- 42:16of the. One of the top three guys.
- 42:18One of those guys, Vince. Colosimo.
- 42:20It was Vince Colosimo. So we had Vince Colosimo for a
- 42:24one day shoot and he said on 2 provisos 1 I only wear Armani
- 42:31and two, I get to keep whatever I wear.
- 42:35If I put something on it's mind. So we had to buy him an Armani
- 42:39suit, feature that in the ad and let him take it home.
- 42:42The. Reason why I even know this is
- 42:44from watching a commentary on More Rats, because they got
- 42:49yeah, Doherty on that and that was a big get for them.
- 42:52And in one of the jackets and she was wearing Smith.
- 43:00Oh, God, yeah. Can speak.
- 43:01Can just a plain black jet. Can we get a star put on the
- 43:04back of that? And then they did, the star came
- 43:07back. And then someone came up and
- 43:08went, can you not make any more changes to the clothes?
- 43:11Because she's picked them out and she gets to, she wants to.
- 43:14Keep them so and that was part of her.
- 43:17That was part of her contract. That's how they got her to be on
- 43:19it. Like going like that, buy you
- 43:22clothes that you want and you can keep.
- 43:24And it was like, yeah, so don't make any more alterations
- 43:26without checking with us first. That's funny.
- 43:28Interesting. Oh, Shannen Doherty in that
- 43:32movie was beautiful. But.
- 43:34And she was. Almost literally a Comic Con.
- 43:37Even though years ago, even though it had Ben Affleck in it,
- 43:40Shannon Doherty was the big get. It did have Ben.
- 43:43Affleck, yeah. Well, he, Ben Affleck was.
- 43:45I didn't even know who he was back then.
- 43:47No. He was the guy with the stinky
- 43:50hand. No, no he wasn't.
- 43:52He gets stink. No, he was the guy who put girls
- 43:55in a very. Girls in a very uncomfortable,
- 43:57very uncomfortable position. Yeah, like the back of a
- 43:59Volkswagen. I haven't watched that in a long
- 44:00time. I thought he got stink pumped
- 44:03but no he. Doesn't.
- 44:04Oh, he did get stink pumped. No, didn't he?
- 44:06Michael Rucker. No.
- 44:08Oh. Fuck, he's in it too, isn't he?
- 44:10Yeah, that's right. Yeah, You're calm or what?
- 44:14Jesus, man, there's some things you just don't talk about in
- 44:17public. Let's put that back on the list.
- 44:22I want to watch that again. It's been so long.
- 44:25It's a Silver chair song in that movie.
- 44:28Yeah, what are you doing? There was a scene in it that
- 44:31probably it was very good that got cut.
- 44:34There was meant to be a scene where Jay accidentally comes on
- 44:41Shannon Doherty. So it turns out that both kept
- 44:47silent Bob and Jay's character. I think it's just Jay, Jay.
- 44:52Jay Simon. Bob, you've heard of them.
- 44:54Jay Simon. Bob Yeah, I just, they sneak.
- 44:57Into change Jason to see her change.
- 44:59And yeah, right. The shooter went, no, you can't
- 45:04do it. But then are you later?
- 45:07Like there's some that Mary comes out when she gets it.
- 45:10And I think, I think it's a little bit different.
- 45:13Yeah, yeah, he, they, he doesn't ejaculate onto Mary.
- 45:17She takes it out of his hair. Yeah, if if sexual assault,
- 45:21yeah, yeah. Yes.
- 45:25Yeah, I mean, there is a lot of borderline sexual assault in
- 45:27more rats from memory, but they. Could have been more.
- 45:31Yeah, they could. He could have been more by the
- 45:32sounds of it. It's just the IT was bad again.
- 45:35Yeah, look, I, I consumed some media this week, but it's, it's
- 45:43irrelevant what it was. But I just wanted to bring it up
- 45:46because look, I'll know you'll hate this.
- 45:48And Matt, I don't know what you think about it.
- 45:49And I actually don't know what I think about it either.
- 45:52I I downloaded an audio book on Audible as I do very often.
- 45:57And at the start the narration said the following audio book
- 46:01will be read by AI. And so that's a thing now that
- 46:07started. I don't like it.
- 46:09If they hadn't told me, I don't think I would have noticed.
- 46:13It's that it's, it doesn't sound like the old like voices.
- 46:16You are listening to our voice. It's not that it's a nonfiction,
- 46:20right? So it's it's just very, it's
- 46:22just very dry commentary anyway, so.
- 46:27Yeah, right. Read by AI.
- 46:28I mean that's that is how it's going to be.
- 46:33Exactly a way to keep the costs. Down, isn't it?
- 46:35Yeah, Yeah. Cheaper because I.
- 46:37Don't think the margins on audio books are that good, especially
- 46:40on Audible. And and I know what it costs to
- 46:42hire recording studio time by the hour and like do.
- 46:47You think that they'd own their recording studios, wouldn't
- 46:49they? I don't know, Amazon, surely
- 46:53they've got a studio. Yeah, but like, but you've got
- 46:56to be where the like is there like a Hollywood audio?
- 46:59Book it must take days to do oh it.
- 47:02Definitely does, yeah. Yeah, because you've got to just
- 47:06keep saying it until you say it the right way.
- 47:08Right. Yeah, and there's a director and
- 47:10like. Engineer.
- 47:11It's also going to take the longer under listening back to
- 47:14make sure it is. Correct reading.
- 47:17What? Yeah.
- 47:18Especially and stop spinning off.
- 47:21But longer because you'd still have to listen to somebody
- 47:23saying it in the first place. Like I guess somebody think it
- 47:27must. Be very time consuming to
- 47:28produce one of these I think with humans and still with AI.
- 47:32Yeah, I think it would still be a little bit longer to listen
- 47:35back because you got to because it's just going to spit the
- 47:37entire thing out or unless you're doing it in segments,
- 47:40whereas if you're doing it with a person.
- 47:42That's true. There's no, there's no live
- 47:44listening. Yeah.
- 47:45Yeah. That's what I mean, Yeah, yeah.
- 47:46So you can immediately give feedback, whereas with this,
- 47:48you've got to go over it. Yeah.
- 47:51But still. Yeah, the amount of times you'll
- 47:52be going in just typing something phonetically to try to
- 47:55get them to say a name, right. I mean, honestly, I think one of
- 47:58the worst trends I feel, you know, sorry if you're an author,
- 48:01but I think one of the worst trends in recent years has been
- 48:04the authors reading their own audio books because it means
- 48:07they get paid more. But sorry.
- 48:10Don't do it. Get an act.
- 48:11Doing that, Get an act. Some of you need to not do that
- 48:13because I turn it off sometimes because I'm like, did you mean
- 48:18it to be read that way when you wrote it?
- 48:19Because I don't think you did. But why I?
- 48:23Will even go as far as saying there's there's actors and then
- 48:26there's good audio book narrators and they're not all
- 48:28the same. Because I listen to David
- 48:30Duchovny read his own novel, right?
- 48:34And I'm like, I love you as an actor, and actually your book's
- 48:36pretty good, but you should have gotten someone else to read
- 48:38this. Yeah, yeah, I was at first
- 48:40disappointed. I got Arnold's autobiography on
- 48:44Audible and at first I was like, oh, he only reads the 1st
- 48:46chapter. But then after listening to 1
- 48:47chapter I was like it's for the best because you know I love
- 48:51Arnie's voice but I don't want to hear him read a whole book.
- 48:54No, and he knows. That for A1 liner he's good.
- 48:57For an introduction. He read the first chapter and it
- 48:59was good. Yeah.
- 49:00Felt very authentic. And then and then someone else
- 49:03who? Has A and not even no one doing
- 49:05an Arnie impersonation, just an American actor.
- 49:08Just did the rest. Yes, someone who has a pleasing
- 49:11book, a pleasing voice, read me the book, read me the rest of
- 49:14the book. And that's, that's what I want.
- 49:15Yeah, like I said, some some authors, I'm like, I'm like, I
- 49:18understand you get a paycheck, double paycheck almost.
- 49:20Yeah. And I'm sure it's not quite like
- 49:22that, but I understand why you would want to maybe do it.
- 49:24As a whole thing too, I don't know because the ones that the
- 49:27ones that do a good job. Paycheck because it probably
- 49:31would if it gets bad reviews. Because they get loyalties.
- 49:35From of the recording. I believe my understanding is
- 49:38you're probably right. It is a way to get OK, get money
- 49:40that you wouldn't have otherwise got because that's I don't
- 49:42understand why they would do it otherwise.
- 49:44On the audio version, wouldn't it?
- 49:46That would, But the good sales, the good would.
- 49:49Neil Gaiman, for example. And I know it's not cool to like
- 49:51Neil Gaiman. No, no, but he.
- 49:53Could read me reading audio but I don't want to hear anyone else
- 49:55reading Neil Gaiman to me but Neil Gaiman.
- 49:58British people, I think, get away there.
- 49:59I listen to the audio book of Helen Lewis's new book about
- 50:02genius, and I could listen to her read books all day because
- 50:06but she's. Also Roll Dull reads his own
- 50:10audio books, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and stuff and
- 50:12they're amazing. So I guess the if you're not
- 50:16British. Just don't.
- 50:17Yeah. Maybe it's just if you're not
- 50:18British, yeah. I couldn't listen.
- 50:20I'd turn Matthew Mcconaughey's off, right?
- 50:22I like Matthew McConaughey. I don't want to hear him read me
- 50:24a book. Yeah, especially the book he
- 50:26wrote, which I questioned the authenticity of some of the
- 50:30stories. I'm like that didn't.
- 50:31And I was most beautiful boy in South Carolina.
- 50:34Then my dad beat me in the face until I was unconscious and then
- 50:38and then I'm like, I don't want to hear about it.
- 50:40And I looked up at him and I said, Dad, where's the love?
- 50:43Just give me love. And if you want to send me
- 50:46money, you can send it to this. Where did he become a con
- 50:49artist? Yeah, well, you know, he's got
- 50:51another book now that's just poetry and thoughts.
- 50:54I mean, that's fine. It's just, it's the, it's the
- 50:56motivational speaking, con artistry thing that.
- 51:00Yeah, the guru. The guru stuff.
- 51:01Yeah, anyway, I reckon that came from the ads he used to do for
- 51:04he's just because. Remember the ads he used to read
- 51:08for Scotch whiskeys and stuff? Oh yeah, I need to take Lincoln
- 51:12automobiles. Yeah, it's like that.
- 51:14I like, I think it's that sort of thought that sort of led him
- 51:16into that, right? I keep just talking like that
- 51:19and I can sell that. I.
- 51:20Don't know man, to me he's just interstellar now.
- 51:24John, Andy, Stella. He's a great actor.
- 51:25He should have. Just why is he doing this stuff?
- 51:27That makes me not like him. Stop it.
- 51:29Like but I didn't use you to. Literally a grifter.
- 51:31Now, Luke, in case you don't know, he has like, you know
- 51:33those courses where he's like, oh man, we happiness.
- 51:36Just you just gotta send money in and we'll send you the the
- 51:39the. Stuff happiness.
- 51:40Happy. Yeah, exactly.
- 51:42It's like one of those telemarketry scam kind of weird
- 51:44things. I might be misrepresenting it
- 51:46slightly. But it is I.
- 51:48Hope not as far as I'm afraid. A scam.
- 51:50Yeah, I don't like those, those people that you see on like if
- 51:53you you do our course, I'll make you an hour.
- 51:55For us, it's a course that's probably a better.
- 51:58Yeah, seeing it's a course is probably a better way to not get
- 52:02sued. Thank you, Luke.
- 52:03Yes the course is still a scam I believe from the ones I've seen.
- 52:10I think it is. Yeah, I mean, all the courses
- 52:13I've signed up to have definitely been scams, so we'll.
- 52:15See, I mean, it's one of those things.
- 52:17It's like that Derren Brown episode with the ghost hunting
- 52:19guy if it is a scam. But if you believe in ghosts and
- 52:25he believes in ghosts and it both makes you feel good.
- 52:28Yeah. Who am I to?
- 52:30You just scamming each other. So if Matthew Mcconaughey's
- 52:32making people happy, fine, I guess I just.
- 52:35Don't like it. I have seen some of these ones
- 52:37we go like as full money back guarantee if this doesn't work
- 52:41for you but. Define.
- 52:43That, yeah. To do that, you so you have to
- 52:46follow every single single little step which.
- 52:50Or you can't say that you did it.
- 52:52Yeah. Did it.
- 52:53And even if you did it all, still don't.
- 52:56Just you're wrong man. You just did it wrong.
- 52:58Yeah, you should. Yeah, you should.
- 52:59It's got to be Matthew McConaughey.
- 53:03I saw a great meme the other day.
- 53:04It was just a picture of Henry Cavill and it just said just ask
- 53:11her out. It always works for me.
- 53:18I could love Henry Cavill. Yeah, he's the best.
- 53:20If it if it ever gets revealed that Henry Cavill is some sort
- 53:23of con artist, I'm going to be so sad because he's one of us as
- 53:26far as I I feel like. He's just the most handsome nerd
- 53:29ever been. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:31Yeah, he obviously he's he's the the alpha, but yes, he.
- 53:34He's our king. We'll bow to him.
- 53:36Yeah. He's our king.
- 53:39Like Warhammer? Yep, building APC on fucking
- 53:42stream. You're doing it wrong and not
- 53:45caring. He's just like I'm just.
- 53:46Yeah, he's not. He's not.
- 53:47It's not performative. He's just like if anyone was to
- 53:49watch me build. It how the fuck do I put this he
- 53:52paste on mate and like he's just he's just real.
- 53:57Yeah, yeah, just shouldn't be in movies.
- 54:00Speaking of building things, I'll just quickly throw this in.
- 54:02Fucking Admiral Thrawn and Urso, fucking architect of the Death
- 54:07Star brothers in real life, the Mickelsons.
- 54:10Yes. Build a Lego Death Star together
- 54:13at Christmas this year. That's great.
- 54:15Yeah, someone gifted 1 to whichever the younger brother is
- 54:19the Thrawn brother. And Matt, he said.
- 54:22I'll fucking come over and help you with that.
- 54:24I would love to get this, yeah, like 4000 pieces.
- 54:29It's a be an amazing build. Would you build it with the
- 54:34Mickelsons? Yeah, they've already done it.
- 54:37I think they'd be a bit over it now.
- 54:41I don't know if they I would. They might be fun to hang out
- 54:43with. I don't know, they might be a
- 54:44bit serious. No, I don't think Maz Mccosen's
- 54:50serious. No, probably not.
- 54:51I've only seen Maz Mccosen is very serious, like he's a chief.
- 54:54He's like, yeah, you're imagining Le Chief or maybe the
- 54:57the we're. Doing yeah building the Lego and
- 54:59he's like he's bleeding in the eye I.
- 55:01Assume Yeah, it's nothing sinister.
- 55:03See, see. Now, do you see a piece that's
- 55:08two by three? Yeah, take a seat in the stool
- 55:11that I've cut the yeah seat. The fucking hell.
- 55:15It's not my throne though. Not my throne.
- 55:19It's not my granddad, Wolf. It seems OK though.
- 55:21I've seen him in a few, you know, Danish crime movies.
- 55:23He was. He was in the killing.
- 55:25He's very good in The Witcher, didn't he?
- 55:29He Oh yes, yes he is. I want to mention something, if
- 55:35I may. I won't go on about too much,
- 55:38but I do really, really want to encourage people to play Dune
- 55:42Awakening. Oh yes, because the Steam sale
- 55:44was on. I've got G Force now and I saw
- 55:47that I could play on that. And I was like, it was 30 bucks.
- 55:51And I was like, I really want to play that.
- 55:53When's the console release? It's fucking mid 2026.
- 55:56And I was like, I don't want to wait, fuck it.
- 55:58So I bought it. It is excellent, OK.
- 56:03OK. I love it.
- 56:05It's kernel exiles but more refined in my opinion and it
- 56:13feels like basically a single player game, but I'm aware that
- 56:16there are other people around building bases also, but I don't
- 56:20have to interact with them. Yeah, right.
- 56:23But you're playing it on a on a public server.
- 56:25Yeah, playing it on the the the North American server called
- 56:28Arakis because I was like, I'm picking that one.
- 56:31Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't you?
- 56:33Have you seen some people? Play and it does look amazing.
- 56:36Yeah, it's not going to run on my PC.
- 56:38But when it comes out on Xbox. Yeah, yeah, when it comes out, I
- 56:43think, I honestly, I think, I think this is a game we call.
- 56:46It's just so it's fucking it's, it's just what you think.
- 56:49It's like you're in the fucking desert and then there's like
- 56:51blocks of rock and you've got to do quests and there's like
- 56:53scavengers and you shoot people and stuff like that.
- 56:55And then sometimes you've got to get from 1 block of rock to the
- 56:58other one. You've got to run across the
- 56:59sand. And then this little noise meter
- 57:01comes up and then our fucking sand work comes.
- 57:03I was playing it. Without rhythm.
- 57:05My daughter was like, oh, I want to watch.
- 57:08So I was like, OK, I could try and do some non violent things
- 57:10while she's watching and that. And then she was getting into
- 57:12it. She was like, don't go on the
- 57:13sand, Dad, don't go on the sand. The worms coming.
- 57:15And then at one point I'm like running across and I the meter
- 57:19starts to go red and then you hit and because the music and
- 57:23it's great too. Oh yeah.
- 57:24So like you're running across the sand and then when the when
- 57:26you're making too much noise or whatever, the music starts to go
- 57:31and and she's like grabs my arm and then this fucking sand worm
- 57:35comes up out of the sand. And then she was like and then
- 57:38she goes. I finally got to see one did it.
- 57:42Kill you. No, no, no, I haven't been eaten
- 57:44by a worm yet. That's the So if you die, you
- 57:47respawn with all your stuff, unless a sand worm eats you and
- 57:50then you respawn without all your stuff, right?
- 57:54So you got to watch it fuck you today, but not.
- 57:55Look looking at this it looks like a much bigger and much
- 57:59well-rounded welding. What Conan was.
- 58:01Not saying Conan was bad, I'm just saying he has learnt a lot
- 58:05from YEAH. Conan, it's really fun in a way
- 58:09that Conan was sometimes not fun.
- 58:11You know, like Conan could get tedious at times where you're
- 58:14running back and forth and that kind of stuff.
- 58:15You do have to run around in this, but so far it's fun at all
- 58:20times doing that. And the other thing story wise I
- 58:23thought was cool. It's narrated at the start by
- 58:27Paula Tradies, and he says, this is a version of the world that
- 58:32I've seen. I'm not in it.
- 58:34My parents had a daughter, Lady Jessica finished her training.
- 58:37She was able to detect the plot against them.
- 58:39They won the battle of Arakin and the Fremen were wiped out by
- 58:44their cytokine. Like, it's just the world is
- 58:46just different in in cool ways that make it so that they don't
- 58:49have to stick to the world of the books.
- 58:53They can do their own thing that makes it more fitting for kind
- 58:57of the story they want to tell. So I was like, oh, that's cool.
- 59:00I. Will wait for Xbox.
- 59:05So because I can't play, as you know, I can't play a game
- 59:07without achievements, unfortunately.
- 59:09That's fine, it will come out eventually.
- 59:11I just really wanted to say yes, it's.
- 59:13Great. It's really.
- 59:14Good. Looks amazing.
- 59:17Yeah, I'm all in. Yeah, I've got to wait for Xbox,
- 59:19my PC, and I'm going to run this.
- 59:21But yeah, I'll be there. I'll be there when this comes
- 59:23out. Sweet love it.
- 59:28We're going to go to the after party now, and I just want to
- 59:31tease a little annual tradition. We did it last year.
- 59:36I don't know if we did it before then, but we're going to do it
- 59:38in the after party this year, which is I'm going to tell you
- 59:40what the most searched terms on Pornhub were in 2025.
- 59:46Change from tread treadwife tradition.
- 59:49We have tread wives last year we have.
- 59:51Changed, Yep. And there's there's some
- 59:52interesting, there's some interesting changes.
- 59:54So OK. All right, I'm we've gone from
- 59:57step step siblings to trad wise. Let's find out what's next.
- 1:00:02Well, patreon.com/multiple Nerdgasm sign up $5 a month will
- 1:00:06get you the After Party every week, and this week the After

- 1:00:15people. People seem to die at the end of
- 1:00:17the year a lot. There's always a
- 1:00:18disproportionate amount around Christmas and New Year.
- 1:00:22Yeah, this can't be bothered with Christmas again.
