- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for being here.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: We are only a couple of weekdays away from the Jaguars kicking off on field practice.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: for training camp 2026 right around the corner.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Very excited for it.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be out there covering so you can follow me on Twitter.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'll do as many updates out there as I can.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: Try to keep y'all informed.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: We will be doing practice recaps and takeaways every single day.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: There will be press conferences.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be a lot of fun getting back to football out there for sure.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: So right now we're going over my expectations.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: My expectations and then what I think like the expectations should be internally for the jag war's rookies.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: What they should be expected to do out here in training camp to set themselves up for success in 2026 as rookies and now.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's really no clear pathway to a rookie having a starting job outside of like special team starting jobs potentially.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: But there are definitely roles to be filled and depth to be filled on this Jaguars roster by this rookie class.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to get into it really appreciate y'all be in here.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content please like and subscribe, you know, check out jing Jack.com, pick up some new duval gear, support the channel, look good, well doing it.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button right now.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: We are starting it off with Nate Borkerture, the Jaguar's second-round pick.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: First pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, the Jaguar's rookie class.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of injuries.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: The players that didn't get injured were kind of deeper down the depth chart a little bit, different things, and a lot of situations.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the basal Tutankham got plenty of run as a rookie.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter until he got injured.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: You saw some other guys in Rayon Lane and ended up having a place and significant snaps.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously established himself as a specialty member.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Why am I loom?
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Missed a lot of time.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Played a little bit, missed a lot of time.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Branson, missed the whole season.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: Jail him a cloud, missed the whole season.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of injuries, unfortunately, that kind of derailed the rookie seasons for some of these guys.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: You're hopeful and hopefully expecting for at least this rookie class to not suffer the same fate from injury standpoint that last year's rookie class did.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: But Nate Borkerture is a player who has missed a little bit of time so far in the offseason program, not any real official word as to why, but and I don't want to speculate.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: We're not really supposed to be doing that, but you know, get on the field consistently.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: The expectation, the wish, like what you want to see is just him being on the field during practice during training camp and not missing time.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that would do him very well because when he has been on the practice field.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's been good.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's, you know, as a receiver, he's had multiple plays during team where, you know, he left a defensive back in the dust.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Safety's not, I mean, I don't think he's run away from any corners, but safety's, he has.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's put a move on at the top of his route in breaking route, out breaking route, created some separation, caught the football well, which in his limited opportunities at,
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Texas A&M and and before that, like he did look like he could do the job as a receiver.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: It just the opportunities as I mentioned were limited.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: He really was more of a blocker at the college level.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he'll be asked to do that a lot in Jacksonville.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think you want to see him embracing the physicality, which nothing about his game suggests that he won't.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he will.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: So really, again, my biggest thing for Borka Church is just be on the field consistently.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: You get to Albert Regis, I would say for Regis, you know, backup defensive tackle really projects as like the backup nose tackle right now.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Learn as much as you possibly can from Devon Hamilton and Eric Armstead.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Those are two guys that are in the final year of their contracts right now.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Hamilton is still in a age where I think you would say he's in his prime.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: He could get extended.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars coaching staff players around him loved Devon Hamilton.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: He was one of the best run stuffing.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: No stackals and football last year.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think Devon could still get an extension.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: probably unless he takes a very, very team-friendly discount for 2027 and beyond probably going to be his last year in Jacksonville, but soak up as much as you can from those guys.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: They've played a lot of football and they are invaluable resources.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Push them both.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, with Albert Regis' strength explosiveness,
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: is kind of knack for playmaking.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: He should be pushing both of those guys for snaps, not immediately.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Those are your entrenched starters for a reason.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: But I think
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: in training camp, you need to be pushing, pushing to earn reps. You've obviously got some competition with Rook Aurora Row.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they project differently in the Jaguar's defense with Regis Moore of the nose tackle, Rook Moore of the three tech.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously those roles aren't static in this defense.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: You have a lot of movement.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: You have a lot of different formations, lining up in different gaps, et cetera.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I would like to see, you know,
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: Albert Regis kind of phase Matt Dickerson out and that's nothing against Matt Dickerson, but like Dickerson is a guy who has been a journeyman, back of the roster type of player, the Jaguar is really like Tal.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: He brought it last year.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: He did perform well for them on the field and on the practice field.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so they brought him back for another year, but obviously Regis has
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: just has a lot more upside than Dickerson at this point.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I would like to see where you just kind of earn reps, earn reps over over a mat, Dickerson for sure.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: And then why not show some versatility?
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Why not figure out that you can probably do a little bit more than just playing those tackle, because you have the explosiveness for it.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's kind of my thoughts on Regis.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to Emmanuel Pregnant, the Jack Wars Offensive Line Pick, played mostly left guard in college, but a little bit of right guard earlier on, I think he should be pushing.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: He and Wyoming, in my opinion, should be pushing for starting jobs.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Emmanuel Pregnant is that strong, that physically gifted, explosive and a phone booth, all that stuff, to where he should be pushing.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Ezra Cleveland, I think, has been excellent in Jacksonville, especially the last couple years.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't know that Pregnant is coming in and beating out Ezra Cleveland, but could Emmanuel Pregnant and Wyoming push each other and push Patrick McCary,
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: for the starting right guard job.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: That is what I would really like to see here.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, if pregnant can push Cleveland, that's great.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: I just kind of doubt that that's going to happen for a rookie against Ezra Cleveland, who Cleveland is going into his second year in this system.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's been in the NFL for a while.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: He has played in a system similar to this before being in Jacksonville.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's just a lot of reasons why it's going to be difficult for anyone to unseat Ezra Cleveland.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: As the Jaguar starting left guard this year, he is going into a contract year.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: So that's an interesting, an interesting aspect to it.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Husky, the Jaguar's final day to pick safety out of Maryland, transferred there.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's a high energy player.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think what you want to see more consistently from him based on the tape is playing fast, but in control.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: There were sometimes where you over-persu, you over-angle, you take a bad angle, and you mis-apply, right?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Can you play fast, but in control?
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Can you obviously get your mind in this playbook?
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Anthony Camponele and company do a great job of teaching the coverages and getting guys to not make mental mistakes,
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Having said that, there are a lot of post-snap coverage rotations.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of leveling up to do and you're understanding of NFL offense as all that stuff for Jalen Husky.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Play fast but in control, be in the playbook and just don't have a lot of mental mistakes and get dialed on special teams, man.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have to play special teams and contribute for the jag wars in that area as a rookie because out of you on the depth chart is Antonio Johnson, Eric Murray, Kayla Bransal.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Rayon Lane has already proven himself as a special team where you got to do the same thing for sure.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Wesley Williams, Jaguar's fourth round pick, they traded up a few spots to go get Wesley Williams.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think his expectation should be competing for Edge 3 at worst earning a strong rotational spot.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: You have Josh Hinds Allen and Trayvon Walker as your starters, but beyond that, Danny Strigo undrafted for Agent from last year has shown well both on the field and the practice field, and he's going to be pushing BJ Green a little bit of the same thing undrafted for Agent last year, but Wesley Williams should be competing with both of those guys immediately, I think, to earn a strong rotational spot, maybe even be Edge 3.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Then you get to Tanner Koziel.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Keep balling.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's the expectation for him.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he has been balling in the offseason program.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Making great catches down the field, creating separation up the seam, going up and getting the football, keep balling.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Keep doing your thing.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you need to show the willingness to get physical in the run game.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: need to be or he shouldn't be expected to be a dominant physical run blocker but can you get in the way more often than not can you do the job that just springs a runner a little bit or a or a screen guy a little bit you don't have to dominate your opponent but at least show the effort be physical getting away and and help clear the way for some guys on top of being
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm really looking for him to earn a special team's role with the Jaguars late round six round wide receiver.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: This is one of the picks that a lot of people, including myself, kind of thought was a steel.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron had a really impressive, just physical profile with his size, strength, athleticism.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: kick off, saying, and part returns, obviously if Parker Washington is still the starting part returner, ain't nobody beating him out for that job, but the jags might want to take a little bit of that responsibility away for Parker Washington for him to contribute more at receiver.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know exactly how they're going to handle that situation yet, but I think he should definitely be earning a role as a returner.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then just keep the kind of momentum he built late no TAs and many camp.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: He missed a little bit of time early on with a pre-existing injury that they already knew about.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: And he was able to get back on the practice field pretty quickly.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: And he made some plays on offense.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Again, a guy that should be able to show out as a yak player, I think it'd be nice to see the jackores get the ball in his hands quickly at times during training camp.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: and get him comfortable in this offense and show him that ability to pick up yards after catch, and then also just his ability to go up and get the football down the field.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: He can do that too.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen it a couple times already.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Williams, you've also got out of stamp for the wider seaver who he doesn't look like the biggest guy out there, but he's got decent size, and I think part of the reason he doesn't look super big is he can feel out his frame a little bit more,
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: He moves very quickly.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: quick fluid mover as a route runner, and very smooth at the catch point, too.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Keep the momentum up.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Made a ton of plays during OTAs, and many camp.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Keep the momentum up, focus on special teams.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: All these day three picks are gonna have to focus on special teams.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't set it for all of them, but Wesley Williams, part of the reason they loved him so much was his ability to make an impact on special teams.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: He blocked a lot of kicks at Duke, and he impacted even more kicks at Duke than the ones he blocked.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, compete for Edge 3, but also,
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: do your job on special teams.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Tanner goes you're going to have to do your job on special teams.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron we mentioned that CJ Williams for sure.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Zach Derfian Parker here's these last two picks defensive guys.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know really what to expect from them.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, like, Murphy is in a spot where he does bring a explosiveness to the, to the edge group that outside of like Josh Heinz Allen and Trayvon is probably not there as much.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: BJ Green has some explosiveness to his game, but Jack Murphy is the best athlete at the position outside of the big two for sure.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Can he show that off?
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: Can he make it?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: where the coaches are like, how do we cut this guy or how do we, can we even think about stashin' as gone in the practice squad based on the way he's playing?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that would be a good, good position for him to be and just make it difficult for the coaches to not keep you on the 53.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: And look, I like Strigo and B.J.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Green.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: They weren't drafted.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: The actor if he was, I think that means something.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: So go out and make the team.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a Dürfi, Parker Hughes, same thing.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have to be a demon on special teams.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: That will be his role as a rookie if he makes the team.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: I talked about the 53-man roster.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have Dürfi or Hughes on the 53-man roster.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: When I look at Lionbacker, you've got
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: FOIA, Kaiser, you got Ventrell, Branson Combs.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Dennis Gardeck, J.L.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: McCloud, you're Sierra Abdullah.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have you see her making the team.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: I have McCloud making the team.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's a coin flip for me.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: But can Parker Hughes make the team?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: He is a speed demon at linebacker.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Can he push someone for that roster spot?
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how could that work out?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's could potentially trade someone if they feel that good about Parker Hughes.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be interesting.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be really interesting with those last couple guys, but I do think the rest of the rookie group has a clear path to a roster spot in Jacksonville outside of Dürfrey and Hughes, but they've got to make it interesting.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: They've got to make it difficult for the Jaguar to make a decision.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's my expectation for them.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a great one.
