- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic, and we have doctor Harley with us.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, doctor Harley, Hey John.
- 0:06Speaker 1: We're going to talk today about what you do. So
- 0:09Speaker 1: I think of the movie Office Space. Have you seen
- 0:11Speaker 1: the movie Office Space? Movie it's from the nineties, but
- 0:15Speaker 1: there's the bobs and he's like, so what do you
- 0:16Speaker 1: do here? And they had to kind of explain what
- 0:19Speaker 1: they do? And that's I feel like I'm one of
- 0:20Speaker 1: the bobs right now asking you, so what do you
- 0:22Speaker 1: do here? But the good news is I think you
- 0:25Speaker 1: can explain it well because you in addition to being
- 0:27Speaker 1: a chiropractic, you're almost kind of a teacher as well.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You do a really good job of explaining what you do.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And that's what we kind of want to talk about
- 0:33Speaker 1: today because you know, we come in, we lay down
- 0:35Speaker 1: on this little table here that's kind of a fancy
- 0:37Speaker 1: little place from my face and my feet hang off
- 0:39Speaker 1: the end, and then you just do your magic. But
- 0:41Speaker 1: it's not magic, it's it's it's done in such a
- 0:43Speaker 1: way that it feels like it. But let's talk about
- 0:45Speaker 1: what you do.
- 0:46Speaker 2: There is science behind it, yeah, there is, and no
- 0:48Speaker 2: I have not seen that movie.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Well, you got to see it.
- 0:50Speaker 2: It's good. Yeah. I mean we talk about this kind
- 0:53Speaker 2: of stuff every week. We're always kind of breaking down
- 0:56Speaker 2: some of the ins and outs of you complaints that
- 0:58Speaker 2: people have talking about our office. And then at the
- 1:01Speaker 2: end of the day it's like, well, we're adjusting people,
- 1:03Speaker 2: and some people might be listening like what does an
- 1:06Speaker 2: adjustment do? Like what's the point of it?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Ryh, why do we do these adjustment things? Right?
- 1:11Speaker 2: So, we talk a lot about our spine. We talk
- 1:13Speaker 2: a lot about our nervous system because they're very interconnected,
- 1:17Speaker 2: because our nerves branch out from our spine, and our
- 1:20Speaker 2: spine keeps us upright, keeps this mobile, protects that nervous system.
- 1:24Speaker 2: But due to our day to day activity, stress, life,
- 1:27Speaker 2: you name it, those spinal bones can actually shift and
- 1:31Speaker 2: move out of alignment, and then the muscles get involved
- 1:33Speaker 2: and they get really tight and they kind of hold
- 1:35Speaker 2: it there. So then it starts putting more pressure on
- 1:37Speaker 2: the nerves that run through between the bones. Well, when
- 1:40Speaker 2: we have a hard tissue pressing on a soft tissue,
- 1:43Speaker 2: that soft tissue is not gonna be happy about it.
- 1:45Speaker 2: They get really irritated and inflamed. So it's chiropractors. We're
- 1:49Speaker 2: analyzing your spine to figure out, Okay, where's it not moving,
- 1:52Speaker 2: where is the bone out of alignment that it's irritating
- 1:54Speaker 2: that nerve. So when we deliver those adjustments for putting
- 1:58Speaker 2: a gentle pressure in a very specific line of drive,
- 2:01Speaker 2: working to take that bone off the nerve and put
- 2:04Speaker 2: it back into its proper space so that way it
- 2:07Speaker 2: is moving like it's supposed to, not irritating the nerve,
- 2:10Speaker 2: and the muscle start to actually move equally like they're
- 2:13Speaker 2: supposed to side to side.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And our spine is made up of a bunch of
- 2:16Speaker 1: different pieces that are all connected, and any one of
- 2:18Speaker 1: those little pieces could be out of adjustment, and then
- 2:21Speaker 1: that causes problems with other places as well.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Right, I always think of misalignments kind of like like roadblocks.
- 2:28Speaker 2: You know, the more roadblocks you have on the highway,
- 2:30Speaker 2: the more you have to move and shift around them,
- 2:32Speaker 2: the slower flow traffic is. It can cause build up
- 2:34Speaker 2: block ups and kind of the same thing happens with
- 2:37Speaker 2: our spinal core when we have those misalignments, because it's
- 2:39Speaker 2: like a giant highway with all of that information passed
- 2:42Speaker 2: between the brain and the body. So wherever those mis
- 2:45Speaker 2: alignments happen, it's going to slow down that information transport
- 2:48Speaker 2: and we don't want that, you know, you know, think
- 2:50Speaker 2: about movement wise. You don't even have to think about it.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It just happens. So if we can speed up that
- 2:55Speaker 2: connection or fix the connection issue, it's only going to help.
- 2:59Speaker 2: It's going to help with how your body is healing functioning,
- 3:02Speaker 2: and when that's happening better, you're going to start feeling
- 3:05Speaker 2: better and stay feeling better too.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Absolutely. And now think about if you're back. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you got all these little pieces of your spine that
- 3:11Speaker 1: are all connected there that think about it this way.
- 3:15Speaker 1: If it's like a piano, all the different strings on
- 3:17Speaker 1: a piano and they're hitting the keys to make them,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but if they're out of a tune, even if you've
- 3:22Speaker 1: got an amazing pianist and they're doing a great job
- 3:24Speaker 1: trying to play a beautiful song, if everything's out of tune,
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's not going to sound great. So you know, if
- 3:29Speaker 1: you have your back kind of out of tune, you
- 3:31Speaker 1: could be out there doing your thing and you're going
- 3:33Speaker 1: to be in pain and you're it's not going to
- 3:34Speaker 1: feel as good. And that's where you're kind of like
- 3:36Speaker 1: a piano tuner for.
- 3:37Speaker 2: People in a way. You know, John, You've learned some
- 3:39Speaker 2: things over the years. That was a good analogy.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I pay attention. I know what you're talking about here.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we kind of lie to ourselves and
- 3:47Speaker 2: it's like, oh, pain is fine, pain is weak, you're
- 3:50Speaker 2: leaving the.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Body, right, walk it off, You'll be fine.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I don't remember what movie that was from, but you know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: I remember like random quotes. It was not from Office Space,
- 3:58Speaker 2: I know that, right, But like we just kind of
- 4:02Speaker 2: tell ourselves like, oh, it's fine, I'll do with it later. Well,
- 4:04Speaker 2: eventually later is going to come calling, and by that
- 4:07Speaker 2: point it's a lot harder to correct and work on
- 4:11Speaker 2: the issue versus when we have those smaller aches and
- 4:13Speaker 2: pains early on, much easier, you know, cauld adjust it.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Things are going to be moving better and be functioning better.
- 4:18Speaker 2: We're going to age better as well, feel better. I
- 4:21Speaker 2: hear that a lot of people like, oh, I'm just old. Well,
- 4:23Speaker 2: think about it. If you started doing stuff ten years ago,
- 4:26Speaker 2: a long twenty years ago, you would probably be doing
- 4:29Speaker 2: a little bit better than you are now. So it's
- 4:31Speaker 2: not so much the age. It's the wear and tear
- 4:34Speaker 2: and then you got.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Older well and if you would like to get a
- 4:37Speaker 1: tune up and have it so you're making beautiful music
- 4:40Speaker 1: once again with your back. What is the best way
- 4:42Speaker 1: for somebody to connect with you here at Balance Life
