- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another tiny French adventure? Luna: Always. What are we diving into today? Lucas: The days of the week. We touched on them way back, but let's really make them stick. Luna: Oh, good. I always mix up mardi and mercredi. Lucas: We'll fix that. First, let's start with the first day. In French, the week starts on Monday. So, lundi. Luna: Lundi. That's Monday, right? Lucas: Exactly. Now Tuesday, mardi. Luna: Mardi. Sounds like 'mardee'. Lucas: Close enough. Now Wednesday, mercredi. Luna: Mercredi. That's the tricky one. Lucas: We'll practice it a few times. Mercredi. Luna: Mercredi. Mercredi. Lucas: Nice. Now Thursday, jeudi. Luna: Jeudi. Like 'juh-dee'. Lucas: Perfect. Friday, vendredi. Luna: Vendredi. That's my favorite day. Lucas: Then Saturday, samedi. Luna: Samedi. Weekend vibes. Lucas: And Sunday, dimanche. Luna: Dimanche. Sounds calm. Lucas: It does. So let's say them together. Lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche. Luna: Lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche. Lucas: You nailed it. Notice they're all masculine, and we don't capitalize them unless they start a sentence. Luna: Oh, right. I remember that from before. Lucas: Now let's put them in a sentence. We can say, Aujourd'hui, c'est lundi. Today is Monday. Luna: Aujourd'hui, c'est lundi. Lucas: Great. And if we want to ask what day it is, we say, Quel jour est-ce? Luna: Quel jour est-ce? Lucas: Yes. So you could ask, Quel jour est-ce? and answer, C'est mardi. Luna: C'est mardi. Simple. Lucas: Now let's do a little scene. Say it's Friday and you're excited. You could say, Je suis content, c'est vendredi. I'm happy, it's Friday. Luna: Je suis content, c'est vendredi. That's easy to remember. Lucas: And on Sunday, maybe you relax. Je me repose, c'est dimanche. Luna: Je me repose, c'est dimanche. Nice. Lucas: So we've got lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche. Let's review once more.
