- 0:40Welcome back to a hamster with a blunt penknife the Doctor Who
- 0:44commentary podcast, which I believe somebody puts a review
- 0:49saying that it's one of the best things that dr.
- 0:51You found a ever done. So I don't know whether they say
- 0:55that after they hear this episode but they are also very
- 0:59strange people out there, you know, they're very nice people
- 1:02out there. My name is Daniel and I'm still
- 1:06still here with the wonderful day for Any the fantastic.
- 1:11I'm sorry. Hello.
- 1:14And the effervescent Lucy McCall and the Excellent.
- 1:22Go forward. And we're just about to embark
- 1:28on part 4 of planets of fire, which I think we're enjoying it.
- 1:32Even if we're not talking, a huge, huge amount about the
- 1:36episode but I think we like it. No, not necessarily love it, but
- 1:41I think we like it. I thought we did pretty well for
- 1:43episode 3. You know, talking about, what
- 1:45was on the screen, Lucy kept us in line in episode 3.
- 1:50Okay. Well, Lucy would you like to
- 1:52count us in? Because even though some people
- 1:55might be watching listening to this at the, you know, the crack
- 1:58of dawn. It's it's getting late amount of
- 2:00my beauty sleep. So do you countess Countess him,
- 2:05please, okay, five, four, three, two, one, go, God just say I'll
- 2:13consider it a personal Triumph that I've managed to make all of
- 2:16you say that ridiculous thing at the beginning of the episode in
- 2:19180. So I've got a question and it
- 2:26may not Escape people's attention.
- 2:29Notice that I happen to be a big fan of Nicola Bryant and Perry,
- 2:33but what what do we all think of Nikola not necessarily making
- 2:37Brian? Who I think does really well as
- 2:40with the, with the material, she's given, but what do you
- 2:43think of Perry as a character Joe She's a character.
- 2:49I don't expect a lot from so I'm actually often surprised at how
- 2:55good she is and I think a lot of her worth comes from Nicola
- 3:00Brian. I think is thinking through the
- 3:03scripts more than the bloody script editor is and she's so
- 3:08good at playing especially in suffer and razani where she's
- 3:13constantly under threat. She's so good at playing that
- 3:16stuff. Laughs that I'm always on her
- 3:19side. In fact, sometimes I think it's
- 3:21trays into quite a dull territory with her.
- 3:25So yeah. So I think she's more impressive
- 3:28than people give her credit for. I just wish they'd just cut back
- 3:32on the Widgeon asshole. Yeah, Lucy yeah.
- 3:37I think I do remember when I watched it the first time
- 3:40around, whether whether I took to her particularly I have an
- 3:43idea that I might not have done when I was Younger watching this
- 3:49watching. It isn't as an adult woman.
- 3:51I'm kind of what the hell of a lot of the episodes.
- 3:57Like, again, you're doing Phantom of the Opera again, how
- 4:02many more hideously mutated? People are going to have a want
- 4:08to do unspeakable things to her. And yeah, I don't think I think
- 4:12the character is very ill-used, really.
- 4:16And in a way that starts to get quite creepy quite quickly.
- 4:21Oh you might have a couple of f one episode where that happens.
- 4:24So in and razani but to bring it back again and again and again
- 4:28is just like what really? So yeah, I know I sort of seen
- 4:35her having seen her interviewed and have a lot of respect for
- 4:41her as an actress and what she went through with the part is
- 4:44extraordinary having to pretend that she was American.
- 4:47Yeah it's just under the whole. A lot of the things that
- 4:52happened to her really creepy and unpleasant just to do with
- 4:57with being Doctor Who and having the parts.
- 5:00Oh yeah. But I do like now that she's
- 5:03chasing the master around. He's told he's, and he's running
- 5:06away for sure. Dave, would you think of Perry I
- 5:12like the character. I think she acts very well which
- 5:15is given but as the others have said, is far too much of that,
- 5:19she's lost it after, and she's in complete Terror really
- 5:23because all these lustful aliens and what speed really good with
- 5:29back furnish, especially, is that, you know, what your story
- 5:32is? You see over there actress years
- 5:33because that's sort of Peered back.
- 5:37And there isn't as much aliens lusted after and she actually
- 5:39gets a lot more substance and things did more to do and she
- 5:43Rises to it very well. I mean, I definitely would check
- 5:46out, can't think of one sort of my head, but check out some of
- 5:50your big finish because for any fan, that Frank's us just Perry
- 5:54and she's screaming at all. And it's like, a heart back to
- 5:56the sixties, just listen earrings when the audience.
- 5:59But she's really just She's playing what?
- 6:04She's been given, really? Yeah, that's the problem before.
- 6:08The 80s stuff, do you have in the Book of Revelation of the
- 6:10Daleks where she talks to the DJ?
- 6:12And she says about being homesick or bit in mysterious
- 6:17planet when she realizes it's the Earth and she sort of
- 6:20laments over the fact that is the Earth and he comes with her
- 6:23and then like the beginning mysterious planet that mine
- 6:26ball, where is like would you prepare to do the skedaddle
- 6:30test? And she knows exactly.
- 6:31Exactly what you mean. Yeah, she does surprised.
- 6:34She did she get small ones that scene in mysterious planet?
- 6:37She's brilliant. It's selling that she's so upset
- 6:40because she's realized that their sister home in the future
- 6:43and it's Saloon and he's very tender with her Colin God is he
- 6:51sort of tries to put his hand on her and she saw it and he's
- 6:53like, you know, but the thing that disappoints me, I mean I
- 6:59didn't notice this as the kid, but as an adult She's very much
- 7:03written as the victim. Yes, yes.
- 7:06And as well as all the, you know, characters sort of lusting
- 7:11after whether it's the borad or Joe Belle, she's constantly
- 7:16written as the victim. She's never really given if you
- 7:19can as a kid. I preferred pail Perry to Mel as
- 7:23an adult. I see Mel as being a far more
- 7:26positive character. If you watch your entire of the
- 7:28vervoids, she's given the opportunity to go off and
- 7:31investigate herself. If she's more proactive, whereas
- 7:34Perry's or is going, I'll cut me, just go back to the Tardis.
- 7:38And yes, and I love Nicola Bryant as she never gives a bad
- 7:42performance, but the characters Always written as being.
- 7:46It's not even, she's not even written in the same way as Tegan
- 7:49is, who's quite strong. She's just sort of a bit of a
- 7:53whiny brat sometimes, and when she's you know, where she's been
- 7:56interrogated in Vengeance on varas by the, by the governor,
- 8:00she was some butt. Since it is at one point and you
- 8:05kind of think I wish they'd just make her a and one.
- 8:08This is the script editors folks just make a a lot stronger than
- 8:12than in the same way that some of the other companions were
- 8:16she, she tries to stand up to him.
- 8:19I think ultimately she's not strong enough to stand up for
- 8:22him. So he's comes across as a bully,
- 8:25a lot of the time, whereas if you think about someone like
- 8:28Evelyn smile from the big finish Audios in the And she's appears,
- 8:33she ain't putting up with none of his shit.
- 8:36Suddenly the Dynamics really different because he's always on
- 8:38the back foot. We never got that Perry, know
- 8:42not to give away any spoilers B, when she comes back and you'll
- 8:44use as an older period that they're all sort of reverse
- 8:48receiving because now she's completely different.
- 8:51And she says, basically it shows right?
- 8:54Go am I see it as it was assassin and since I'm not
- 9:00taking any the shut up, All that time before.
- 9:04It's just a shame we didn't see your screen.
- 9:07I thought she was great when they did the trailer for it was
- 9:11it's too and she's in the temple with the giant.
- 9:16You can't us statue and then she, she knows you.
- 9:19This is that quote figure, she turns around.
- 9:21And she says, what do you know of the warrior Queen?
- 9:23And then he, she's quite serious and very sort of stately.
- 9:28And then he tells this, what's his name?
- 9:30Rex says all about all those. You she was very brave and very,
- 9:34you know, wrong. It wisely and then she goes.
- 9:38Wow, it's like there's the Perry then she says to the doctor who
- 9:42shouts actually, I'll keep your spats arms.
- 9:50You know where they have a volcano.
- 9:51Erupting, all the things. These things randomly remind me
- 9:56of these same process, the ones that Cassio, hadn't Keepers
- 9:59track him. And they had the things with the
- 10:01neck and the gold is at the exactly.
- 10:02The same probably won't be owner.
- 10:03Probably its might Yes, similar. But Cassius was really quite
- 10:08tight around in a car seat. Remember?
- 10:10Yeah, this is more of a. I mean, it's all know, sort of
- 10:13necklace thing, isn't it? But it's the key to open the The
- 10:18transmission channel on the on the ship.
- 10:20So we've just had, which is mr. Lowe's revelation of how he came
- 10:24to be stranded in school learning in England.
- 10:28Yeah, I wish we had a genuine Arc, isn't it?
- 10:31Yeah, it needs. And it's like, you know, the
- 10:33doctors and he's making the decision to sort of stop
- 10:36running. And, and say, I because he knows
- 10:40that he could. He can get the people taken off
- 10:44the if he calls for help but he has to call for help and he's
- 10:48decided to do that. It's really why he's getting
- 10:51peer driven with back to do this last story because he thought,
- 10:53of course, is first, mm-hmm. So he was able to fill in all
- 10:58the blanks was it Yet, you know, but I just, I think this is
- 11:05great, the stock footage of the lava.
- 11:07I look at that makes it well, doesn't it?
- 11:09It doesn't mix well together. Just smoke going in, and it
- 11:14looks like they're standing on a volcano.
- 11:20Yeah, that's fabulous. And that's all the heat as well.
- 11:23I mean, it was supposed to be very hot.
- 11:24There is I mean it was filmed in October but it was still going
- 11:28on. It was it was still be quite
- 11:29warm and starving 25. It's certainly big twenties
- 11:33anyway. Would you mind if I ask a
- 11:39question very quickly, you go 4head?
- 11:41Yeah, go for it. All right, just because we said
- 11:43about the production value, yeah.
- 11:46Do you think that this is an error of all style and no
- 11:49substance? It can be. but I think, I think
- 11:57if you look at a story like case about Andrews only which again
- 12:02is filmed in a quarry and it's the it's the sandpit.
- 12:04Eden in Dorset but Graham Harper directs it was such agency and
- 12:10gives it such. I mean I know that Eric say
- 12:13would wasn't particularly impressed with Robert Holmes is
- 12:15script and said it was sort of quite sort of bit bog-standard
- 12:19but and what lifted it was was Graham, Harper's Direction and
- 12:24Christopher Gables performs. And I think all the the
- 12:26performances as well, John normanton Morris, Reeves and
- 12:30Robert glenister, all those people so it can sometimes feel
- 12:34like a bit of a All gloss and no substance.
- 12:40I think there are so season 20. I think it sort of seemed to be
- 12:48I'm running on empty but it was sort of bigger because season 19
- 12:52I think was such a big hit and after you know you the ratings
- 12:58doubled after you know season 18 getting a really bad pasting
- 13:02from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
- 13:07I think I don't know, it's it's very difficult for me to say
- 13:13that, you know, to find the faults in this because it's part
- 13:16of my child. A hood.
- 13:18So I can't really be as objective about it, as as maybe
- 13:23somebody who's watching this who's sort of grown up with a
- 13:25new series. I mean occasionally is no style
- 13:29and no substance, you know? Well the twins are in dilemma.
- 13:33Yeah, but I don't think this is. This does not look like a
- 13:37serious that in a year's time is in danger of being canceled.
- 13:42No. And I, and let's be honest, the
- 13:46only reason it was being threatened with cancellation was
- 13:49because the new controller of BBC One hated Doctor Who there
- 13:53was no who monetary financial reasons?
- 13:57Get rid of it, it was making money.
- 13:59It was probably making it a lot more money than it would to, to
- 14:02actually pay for it. I think J and T ask for more
- 14:05money at the start of this season and was told by whoever
- 14:10was the controller, but might been billed cotton or somebody
- 14:13like that said, no, no, you've got enough carry on.
- 14:18I mean it's really yeah. Okay some of the CSO B where you
- 14:23saw the master climbing into the bottom of his console was is a
- 14:27little bit archaic. I think just because something
- 14:34contemporaneous like Robin of Sherwood was all done on film.
- 14:37Where is this is done in this video tape studio.
- 14:40So it's going to look not cheap, but there is something about
- 14:44something being on film. But then, you could also argue
- 14:48some people would argue that Robin of Sherwood might be or
- 14:51Blossom. No, substance.
- 14:53I don't know, even though it's on film.
- 14:55I don't agree with that. I think it's a very good.
- 14:57Very good series. I think it's the best Robin Hood
- 14:58series. So Robin is a little robot of
- 15:01Sherwood Robin of Sherwood, okay?
- 15:04Because that robot. I like a lot more than I did
- 15:08when I first sorry. Thank you.
- 15:10Fraser, that's yeah. So, maybe reappraise it, you
- 15:14know, was a phony or thorny subject.
- 15:17You know, is does the doctor commit euthanasia in a minute or
- 15:22is chameleon committing suicide? Or is it a fact that he's a
- 15:25robot? It's all moot.
- 15:27Yeah, I was a bit. I think that really
- 15:29uncomfortable going to watch the other day in, for the doctor is
- 15:31saying to the doctor, I'm no good and then he just is
- 15:35decision as to just reduce them in sighs.
- 15:38I thought the doctor could have came up with her.
- 15:41You could have done anything. He could only be the machine to
- 15:44stop in the feelings or anything.
- 15:45I don't know what I thought was obviously we know why in real
- 15:47life, but yeah, on the screen, it seems like a uncomfortable.
- 15:52We hope to me like they know who I think has did.
- 15:55The robot asks, I mean, I he's a robot.
- 16:00Yeah, sort of semi-sentient. Also, it's been kind of
- 16:04telegraphed all the way through that.
- 16:06It's not working properly. Yeah.
- 16:08Because it keeps flicking backwards and forwards between
- 16:11its various iterations. I also do like that that you get
- 16:15a bit of the, when the doctor takes the circuit out of the
- 16:19Masters told this and Perry says, will that work in yours
- 16:23and he just says, oh yes. Very quietly.
- 16:27But like, yeah. Okay.
- 16:33I don't know. It just seems a bit
- 16:34uncomfortable to me, what? Yeah, I think I agree with you.
- 16:37Dave, the is effectively a man saying, call me and it just
- 16:45shows you how things have changed as well.
- 16:47Because you go back to Arkham space Hinchcliffe, wouldn't have
- 16:50a scene with a character saying to another character, kill me,
- 16:55we get one this year and we get one that's even more dramatic in
- 16:58Revelation of the Daleks when Natasha before.
- 17:01Yeah. All that easy, that is yeah but
- 17:06I think giant he's more though. Well, you know, you'll bring in
- 17:09the writings, we make it a big grizzly.
- 17:13Is it J. And T, or is Eric's a word?
- 17:15Because I As I said earlier on, I wish Chris Rachel did meet had
- 17:20stayed a script editor because he understood Peter Davison is
- 17:23Doctor. I don't actually think Eric's a
- 17:26would like to the doctor. I don't think he knows what to
- 17:28do with the doctor which is why I like Colin Baker's that.
- 17:32I know he was cast. I think he's wrong in that and I
- 17:40think it's a shame that he spent a year, either trying to sort of
- 17:44diminish him in terms of, you know, make him unlikable.
- 17:48Or so, you know, keeping it away from the plot.
- 17:51I mean, revelation of the Daleks.
- 17:54The doctor doesn't really do anything.
- 17:56It's all seen either both. He's far more interested in
- 18:00characters like Litton and Orsini.
- 18:02Yeah. Whereas so, I think with Peter
- 18:05Davis has doctor, because Peter Davis is Doctor is so nice in
- 18:09inverted commas doesn't really, it doesn't really know what to
- 18:13do with them. So it's up to writers.
- 18:15Like Chris roach big Made, Who Then give Peter Davison the
- 18:19material that he really needs and see what really, really
- 18:24excels with. See what said and I don't know
- 18:27it was very using the Tardis or one of these and a few things
- 18:30and he said the doctors were of a sudden, something he said, Tom
- 18:33Hardy and speeds obviously, but he says: didn't have it, but he
- 18:38also said, he didn't know but either but then he says after
- 18:41that might help us certain something because he's a good
- 18:43actor. So he's kind of steering.
- 18:45I didn't I wouldn't have to customize the doctor right.
- 18:48Fuck you, Pete. Yeah, Collins definitely got a
- 18:50little something. He's got a load of ham and I
- 18:53love it. Yeah, I couldn't sleep after
- 19:01Mars, I think, I think Colin ejects so much humor in Colin,
- 19:06Colin, Baker and Peter Capaldi are two of the most charismatic,
- 19:09Charming actors that you could cast as the doctor but they both
- 19:13get cast as a doctor, being a complete ass.
- 19:16Yeah. And I just, I just Just it
- 19:19baffles me that both of them are such really warm character.
- 19:25Actors. And who are, I think Born to
- 19:27play the doctor as much as anyone like, you know, as much
- 19:30as you know, heart nor log or Pertwee or Tom Baker.
- 19:35But Millions no dead. Can you hear that?
- 19:38I can hear J&T going. Yeah, that dreary props dead
- 19:42already. Well yeah, whose bright idea was
- 19:47apparently it worked brilliantly, didn't it?
- 19:48And it worked brilliantly at the demonstration but then that was
- 19:52it the guy who operated it or the guy who made it was killed
- 19:57in a car accident. So then nobody really.
- 20:02So I mean, you know, I can understand why J&T I would like
- 20:05something like that the novelty of it, but then obviously, it
- 20:11doesn't work. This bit is astonishing because
- 20:15he comes in, in the space suit and so he's, and he goes, oh my
- 20:20God. It, you know, it's Logue our
- 20:22representation of God, technically in this society and
- 20:26then it's proved to be a sham. And he says, I need sort of
- 20:30laughs and says, it's a deception and then he says he
- 20:34still believes. Doesn't he still believe?
- 20:36Yeah, he went into the fire and he says, no, he's going to care
- 20:40for the faithful and I do like that, but he did.
- 20:42He's he doesn't sort of turn his back on his faith.
- 20:45No. Yeah, I Still Remains quite
- 20:47strong. Yeah, here we go.
- 20:51But I think the direction this is down because he is committing
- 20:56suicide. But yes, it's inferred rather
- 20:59than yes. Yeah.
- 21:00I don't think I can really show somebody walking into flames.
- 21:04Just yeah. But you just six.
- 21:06Yeah. We see it with the master in a
- 21:08few scenes time. Well, no, he's not.
- 21:10That's not walking. He's not walking into the
- 21:12Flames. That point is he's not going to
- 21:14get on the ship and leave. Hmm.
- 21:15Because the planet is going to explode and he's not he's not
- 21:20going to lie. So what do we think about the
- 21:22master dying? Then in inverted commas.
- 21:27Oh God, he said more lives than a cat as I mean we never got
- 21:34what was his the story before this?
- 21:35It would have been named Kings demons.
- 21:38Yeah. So he was men are charged to
- 21:39that song was. Yeah.
- 21:42So the doctor cause the miniaturization the new because
- 21:44he left it consists you Fenian there which is all good because
- 21:48it is in the story. The Master that I was playing
- 21:51about. With it and well, yeah, this is
- 21:53nice. They said he was he was
- 21:56experimenting with experimenting with him but I think.
- 22:00Yeah, I want to defend my doctor.
- 22:02I think he absolutely does have has debts that people don't
- 22:06necessarily see because they're expecting it to be bigger and
- 22:10all over the screen. Like Tom Brady cause oh yeah
- 22:14absolutely does he has These Quiet Moments where he can be
- 22:18completely ruthless and this is one of them.
- 22:21Yes, I'm going to eat more of her.
- 22:24Yeah, he's not going to he isn't killing him but he isn't going
- 22:30to save him. I like the salt blazing eye.
- 22:36Soft Fury's got on his face and then it goes into the Tardis,
- 22:40doesn't it? And he's just like, horrified,
- 22:43as well as to what's happened and I don't think you would have
- 22:47had a quiet moment like that with Colin all with Tom, it
- 22:50would have been a long day. You were born Perry died and
- 22:54he's like, and it's a great scene but it's all sort of
- 22:57volume isn't it? And drama whereas Davison is
- 23:00just he's got, it looks like ghost, he's absolutely shocked
- 23:05that the master is Dead. But maybe he's thinking well as
- 23:10you. But let's use a fan fiction
- 23:15here. How do we think is it ever
- 23:17explained in an offer for something?
- 23:18How we escaped this time? Is it just the other transport?
- 23:22I read somewhere that he was that Pippin.
- 23:26Jane had written an explanation, but it wasn't included in time
- 23:31and the Rani that I don't mean I can't, I can't remember who it
- 23:35was. He was, I saw somebody said that
- 23:37on Twitter. I can't remember who it was said
- 23:39that. So if they listening, I
- 23:40apologize for not naming you but that it had been that somebody
- 23:44had read or seeing or knew that there was that they had got that
- 23:49bit of back story. But it wasn't it didn't end up
- 23:53in the final version. I wonder what Gary Russell's
- 23:57written a book somewhere dr. Ryan, she explains, he comes
- 24:00back his ass. Give connection with, obviously,
- 24:02no explanation of ways as gift waiver.
- 24:04But that's another study, the lower.
- 24:07Testing up this dressing for the occasion.
- 24:11Yeah. A bunch to death.
- 24:13Yeah. Do I know it's the second do as
- 24:16you tell those leaders the other way to say it now, but I know
- 24:18it's a second ago, when the doctor, grab Perry's and put it
- 24:21on the console. Those two have just got instant
- 24:23chemistry. I don't like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 24:27Talos might, you know, but he says it take care of him, will
- 24:30you? He gets into most terrible
- 24:32trouble that's one of the best companion.
- 24:34Outlines I think? Yes, because it's true.
- 24:37Getting is the doctors making it easier for him, isn't it?
- 24:40It's like okay, well I'll miss you but you know better to go
- 24:43back when you're a bit of a hero, isn't it?
- 24:44Yeah. Just like off you go.
- 24:46Okay? There's bloody men.
- 24:48They can't really see her reaction as you see what way was
- 24:53like yours. He said, it's just been a dodgy
- 24:55Geezer in the Tardis for a year and a half with didn't quite
- 24:58understand Russian English. Way of saying goodbye, shake it.
- 25:03Yeah, shake having a bit awkwardly and be Shakes Tegan's
- 25:08hand as well. Doesn't give her a hug.
- 25:10He shakes her hand. It wasn't allowed to.
- 25:13Yeah. It was it allowed for him
- 25:15because he was only supposed to put his arms around the motor,
- 25:17put an and arm round, the shoulders of mail campaigns.
- 25:20He wasn't supposed to Lissa kisses him when she says goodbye
- 25:23in Terminus. Yes, yes, true.
- 25:25But I think that's that's almost the case.
- 25:27That's that's Nyssa kissing the doctor rather than the doctor.
- 25:30Yes. And that's and he put his arm
- 25:36round Perry a lot. But he made out a story with his
- 25:40arm round. Perry I suspect?
- 25:41That was what Colin Baker? Yeah.
- 25:45He's less of a sort of a young handsome P Davison.
- 25:48I think they want I think today it's sort of any attempts any
- 25:53year, any attempt to try and make the two of them actually
- 25:55likable and to convey to the audience.
- 25:58Yeah, we do. We do bitch, a lot of each other
- 26:01but we do actually like each other which you know, the script
- 26:06edited was determined. To, you know, not have at all.
- 26:10Sorry, I feel like I've I've been a bit of a no.
- 26:14See, what does just play with but well.
- 26:17Yes Byfuglien. Yeah, something's decisions
- 26:20really. Oh, you really was and yet he
- 26:22could knock out revelational. Daleks like he was under the
- 26:26shoulders without. Yeah.
- 26:28Oh yeah. It's just Well folks we are have
- 26:37reached that time where we now have to find 12 reasons, why God
- 26:43let me on fire has to be watched it three apiece and because he
- 26:47just said, oh God will start with Dave, he gets a good
- 26:54strong, open story and their cooperation is very likable and
- 27:01yes she's Does. It Better real, she's not
- 27:02getting lost it after. Like happens.
- 27:04The other one she's yeah. I think she's really good.
- 27:08Lucy. I like the way that it brings it
- 27:14into tutor low story in a way that is sort of satisfies the
- 27:19parts of his character that why he's the way he is because he's
- 27:24basically been on the, he's in Exile but he's also been on the
- 27:27run so he doesn't want you. The parts of him that are sort
- 27:30of always looking out for him, looking out for himself
- 27:33sometimes at the expense of others.
- 27:35But he's just, he's afraid and he doesn't want to get, he
- 27:38doesn't want to get cool because he's on the Run Daniel.
- 27:44I'd say Peter Davison performance is quite thoughtful
- 27:50in this one, as you say, David, you know, three years, the
- 27:56doctors, finally, get there, get their Mojo and, and then in the
- 28:00next door he's off. And it's a shame really that it
- 28:03would have been nice to see that, maybe that fourth year,
- 28:06how he would have, how that would have developed would have
- 28:08been quite interesting to see him in stores at Vengeance on
- 28:10various, which is not a story I particularly like I admire it,
- 28:14but I don't particularly like, it would have been good to see
- 28:16him in that maybe. Yeah, I think he's very good at
- 28:20this. And he sort of that as you say,
- 28:22that scene where the master dies, it's a completely silent.
- 28:27It's all on his face and it's a really good performance.
- 28:31I'm just a piece of house score which we haven't been able to
- 28:35hear, but I think he's, he is a fine musician in Doctor Who he
- 28:41was a great innovation in season eight.
- 28:43Team he knocked out one. Brilliant score after another
- 28:46and I think this is his second to last.
- 28:48I think score. Yeah he does.
- 28:51Two doctors are which is another great school but you punch
- 28:55weights the action really really well and the more thoughtful
- 28:58moments as well such as Tim and offs.
- 29:04Exit and Toes exit at the end and do, I I'm gonna make us do
- 29:0812, but we'll go around one more time.
- 29:10All right here, when God and yeah, I mean, we've had our
- 29:16little joke about what character he was in your life, but I
- 29:19believe you two are Frankie touch this.
- 29:21It's a good performance. He patched it perfectly being
- 29:25the man whose taste is. Sorry, faith is tested and In
- 29:30any case, he sees the silver man and how you're going to react to
- 29:32that, I think you, please read your email.
- 29:34I'm I'm so glad that it did play it.
- 29:37Not as an old man, and he did change his performance because I
- 29:40think if he had played it the way, it is only way to play it.
- 29:43I don't think you would have thought the path for say it's
- 29:45cool. So yeah, go Peter.
- 29:49Let me see. Why do we said everything
- 29:52already really? Oh God.
- 29:59What time is? It 10:35 and still no, not
- 30:06really and it's Monday. yeah, I don't I like I like this.
- 30:17I like the setting of it. I know that it's there's a
- 30:21danger when you when the Stories, uprooted and plunk
- 30:28somewhere in inverted, commas. Exotic that there's a, there's a
- 30:33sort of the, the scenery could run away with it and it's like,
- 30:37you know, yes, it's all like nice Vistas and volcanoes and
- 30:41all excited, but I think actually that it does mesh quite
- 30:44well with the bits and they're in the studio.
- 30:46I mean, obviously the Studio B are very, obviously in the
- 30:49studio and the volcanic, the outside bits are very obviously
- 30:52outside, but I like the design be Overall design of it, under
- 30:57the control room in the center of the volcano and it is really
- 31:00good. Downhill.
- 31:04Oh, this is like my one. I was going to say well I'll
- 31:07specify the cinematography do that.
- 31:10The, the location work that is that John Walker.
- 31:15It does look very cinematic and it does.
- 31:18There are some very good set pieces and some the way, he
- 31:21composes the scenes, where there's one shot where you see
- 31:27sort of sort of rubble and rocks in the foreground and right in
- 31:31the distance, you've got the doctor into a low, Gives a real
- 31:34sort of sense of depth. And also that see the scene in
- 31:39part one, where you see the two guys walking across the hill
- 31:42with the mountains in the background.
- 31:46Yeah, I think Fiona coming was right that she, you know, it was
- 31:51good that she had Johnny Walker with her.
- 31:55And yeah, very, you know, very strong cinematography for, for
- 32:03the, for that period of the show.
- 32:05Ya, where a lot of the time sometimes it was just pointing,
- 32:11you know, point the camera in that direction impressed.
- 32:12And then we'll come on, let's have a cup of tea, probably
- 32:16thinking of more than Undead with that, long shot of Tegan
- 32:19running towards the, the school. And the camera doesn't even move
- 32:24when the camera doesn't need to. that much but it's very well
- 32:27done and I think can yeah John will go he was on the
- 32:31documentary on the DVD he's very positive about about you know
- 32:35the work in he's he's quite proud of it and I think
- 32:38justifiably so Finally because this is hamster.
- 32:43I do have a poncho on for a red ending, his knickers so let's
- 32:48kick it off. Does not forgot that one
- 32:52enjoyment at all, which, which plan is going to be?
- 33:00Are we attacking next? I was thinking the silver today.
- 33:05What was that you said? There's plenty of diets.
- 33:07But also for this planet, the day doesn't know.
- 33:10What? Well, I reckon we should do
- 33:15planet of Giants first. Yes do that.
- 33:19Okay, okay. What they got, that was a quick
- 33:22quickly of coromant and just so everybody can go to bed.
- 33:26I'm going to say thank you very much for your time.
- 33:29Everybody its glorious to get you all together.
- 33:31Again, will convene for three episodes next time, so we won't
- 33:35go to bed a little earlier. Thank you very much, Lucy.
- 33:39Thank you. Thank you very much, Dave, thank
- 33:43you, Joe. Thanks for having us back.
- 33:45Thank you very much, handsome. Dan?
- 33:48Thank you very much, handsome. Jay thank you.
