- 0:00Hello. Welcome to the No God Coach
- 0:02Huddle for May 20, 2025, your two-minute
- 0:04play of the day for applying God's word
- 0:07in your life. So, let's huddle up and
- 0:08hear today's play from Acts 21, which
- 0:11says, "The next day, Paul and the rest
- 0:14of us went to see James and all the
- 0:16elders who were present. Paul greeted
- 0:18them and reported in detail what God had
- 0:20done among the Gentiles through his
- 0:23ministry. When they heard this, they
- 0:25praised God. And they said to Paul, "You
- 0:28see, brother, how many thousands of Jews
- 0:30have believed, and all of them are
- 0:33zealous for the law. They've been
- 0:35informed that you teach all the Jews who
- 0:37live among the Gentiles to turn away
- 0:39from Moses, telling them not to
- 0:42circumcise their children or live
- 0:44according to our
- 0:46customs." That was probably true.
- 0:49Perhaps the reason the apostles didn't
- 0:51originally obey the great commission to
- 0:53go and make disciples is because they
- 0:56interpreted Jesus's work as the
- 0:58fulfillment of the religion rather than
- 1:00the replacement of that religion. The
- 1:03apostles allowed the gospel to make the
- 1:05people more zealous for obedience to the
- 1:09law. They became more focused on their
- 1:11personal righteousness rather than on
- 1:14disciplehip by following Jesus to seek
- 1:17and save the lost. The gospel should not
- 1:20cause us to become more self-conscious
- 1:23of our own righteousness or lack
- 1:25thereof, but on God's glory on earth
- 1:28proclaimed through the gospel and
- 1:29obedience to the great commission as
- 1:32modeled by the Apostle Paul, a Hebrew of
- 1:35Hebrews and among the Jews faultless.
- 1:38This is true because the gospel message
- 1:40is righteousness is appropriated to
- 1:43God's redeemed redeemed children by
- 1:46faith and not by works. We cannot add to
- 1:49the work of Jesus. We can only live in
- 1:52adherence to the work appropriated to
- 1:55us. We do this by living as Jesus lived.
- 1:58Jesus did not teach a righteousness of
- 2:01greater adherence to the law of Moses.
- 2:04God in Jesus taught us that
- 2:06righteousness comes by faith in him
- 2:08alone, appropriated to us through the
- 2:10cross, where he paid the debt of sin. We
- 2:13could in no way overcome through our own
- 2:16acts of righteousness. The correct
- 2:18response to the gospel isn't to become
- 2:21more concerned about our
- 2:23perfection. We're declared that already
- 2:26in Christ. Our proper response is to
- 2:28live as Jesus did, taking up our cross,
- 2:31denying ourselves, and seeking and
- 2:34saving the lost until all peoples in all
- 2:37nations are obedient to the Lord Jesus's
- 2:40command to repent and believe in him.
- 2:43His righteousness gained by his perfect
- 2:46life is ours by faith. Now we live to
- 2:50please God, to glorify him in the world.
- 2:53This is most and best accomplished when
- 2:56every knee bows and every tongue
- 2:58confesses that Jesus is Lord to the
- 3:01glory of God the Father. Yeah.
