- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Revealing Wholeness podcasts dedicated to revealing the profound
- 0:06Speaker 1: connections between body, mind, and spirit, where we believe that
- 0:10Speaker 1: true wellness arises from addressing the root causes of our
- 0:13Speaker 1: health challenges, not just masking the symptoms. Here we dive
- 0:16Speaker 1: deep into how holistic approaches such as advanced chiropractic care,
- 0:20Speaker 1: personalized nutrition, and natural healing practices can transform your life.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Now Here is doctor Troy.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Hello and welcome. I'm doctor Troy. One of the things
- 0:37Speaker 2: I see a lot of in my office is allergies,
- 0:40Speaker 2: but I also have a fair amount of indigestion. Who
- 0:43Speaker 2: out there has not, one time or another, if they're
- 0:47Speaker 2: over forty, have had indigestion. Most people, even young people nowadays,
- 0:51Speaker 2: have indigestion, but by far way more have allergies, and
- 0:56Speaker 2: they are very very closely related. So what's fascinating is
- 1:01Speaker 2: I like to study nutrition, and when I do so,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I come across things like this that I just find, Wow,
- 1:07Speaker 2: this is just crazy that we all just don't know
- 1:10Speaker 2: this as individuals. I think that's what draws me or
- 1:13Speaker 2: drives me to produce podcasts, because it just wouldn't it
- 1:18Speaker 2: be nice to just know this stuff and say, oh, okay, hey,
- 1:20Speaker 2: I know what to do about that if I have
- 1:22Speaker 2: indigestion allergies. Yet most of us, when we have allergies,
- 1:26Speaker 2: we think, oh, it's allergy season. It's something outside of
- 1:30Speaker 2: my body that's doing this thing to me, rather than
- 1:34Speaker 2: for the vast majority of us, it's actually something going
- 1:37Speaker 2: on inside of our body that has now become exponentially weaker,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and now we react to everything. So let's retool our
- 1:47Speaker 2: head a little bit here and let's think about, or
- 1:50Speaker 2: rather let's contemplate some of these symptoms that are associated
- 1:54Speaker 2: with not having good digestion. Now, way back in the
- 1:59Speaker 2: nineteen thirties, forties and fifties, they called this a chloral hydria,
- 2:03Speaker 2: which means no hydrochloric acid in essence, and you could
- 2:09Speaker 2: have hypochlorohydria, which would then be low stomach acid. And
- 2:15Speaker 2: here's some of the symptoms. So if you're like, well,
- 2:17Speaker 2: what does that even mean to me? Allergies are one
- 2:19Speaker 2: of the number one symptoms of not having enough stomach
- 2:23Speaker 2: acid to digest your food and to get proteins broken
- 2:27Speaker 2: down and to get trace minerals into your body so
- 2:32Speaker 2: that you can actually be healthy and repair and everything
- 2:35Speaker 2: else that goes with it. But here are some of
- 2:37Speaker 2: the symptoms. So allergies and neurasthenia, which is a type
- 2:42Speaker 2: of neurologic almost numbness and tingling, kind of nondescript sensation.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Chronic indigestion, which we've talked about. Then anemia, both secondary
- 2:54Speaker 2: and pernicious anemia, so secondary to an iron deficiency can
- 3:00Speaker 2: also be B vitamins as well, and pernicious anemia, which
- 3:03Speaker 2: is a B twelve deficiency. Arthritis, especially what they call
- 3:08Speaker 2: the hypertrophic sort, or that which is in the hands.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So if you look down at your hands and you've
- 3:14Speaker 2: got little kind of knobby bony deposits and you have arthritis,
- 3:21Speaker 2: then you have a digestive issue, my friend, emaciation, which
- 3:26Speaker 2: means you can't put muscle on the body, or you
- 3:29Speaker 2: have flabby flesh. Other chronic diseases also are common. Now
- 3:34Speaker 2: here's what most people are going to come into my
- 3:36Speaker 2: office with. They're going to come into my office with
- 3:40Speaker 2: complaints of feeling bloated, especially low in the gut. Constipation
- 3:45Speaker 2: alternating with diarrhea will be not uncommon at all. Sometimes
- 3:50Speaker 2: they will even be vegetarians because they've completely lost the
- 3:53Speaker 2: taste for meat, and then they may eat when they
- 3:57Speaker 2: are not hungry. This is not unusual. And then usually
- 4:03Speaker 2: if they're going to have any kind of indigestion, it's
- 4:06Speaker 2: going to be a couple of hours after eating. That's
- 4:09Speaker 2: when they'll finally start to build up this weird kind
- 4:13Speaker 2: of pyruvic acid and possibly lactic acid and a couple
- 4:17Speaker 2: other of minor acids that never get the digestive system
- 4:22Speaker 2: down into that two range where pepsin can kick in
- 4:25Speaker 2: and now drop it to one point five and we
- 4:27Speaker 2: can digest proteins. We can get the amino acids into
- 4:31Speaker 2: our body and repair and make proteins that would actually
- 4:34Speaker 2: help or enzymes if we need it. I mean, the
- 4:37Speaker 2: list goes on. When we don't get protein in the body,
- 4:41Speaker 2: it becomes a huge detriment to us. So these are
- 4:45Speaker 2: some interesting things that cause this. So not only do
- 4:48Speaker 2: we now kind of have some understanding of symptoms that
- 4:51Speaker 2: may be related to one another. And you may be
- 4:53Speaker 2: thinking I might have low stomach acid. By the time
- 4:58Speaker 2: we're fifty, they say that that we have twenty five
- 5:00Speaker 2: percent digestive potency, so we're not producing enough hydrochloric acid,
- 5:06Speaker 2: and it's just starting that process from age twenty five on.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And so some people even at age twenty seven, twenty eight,
- 5:13Speaker 2: twenty nine, have digestive issues. I have children that come
- 5:16Speaker 2: in that I have digestive issues because they literally are
- 5:19Speaker 2: eating garbage and not able to get their body to
- 5:23Speaker 2: do much of anything, much less digest things. So here's
- 5:29Speaker 2: here's the biggie. The number one predisposing factor to having
- 5:33Speaker 2: digestive issues and allergies is a salt free diet, often
- 5:37Speaker 2: self imposed. That's hilarious. Excessive anti anti acids, So anything
- 5:45Speaker 2: that would reduce acid in the stomach, even sodium or
- 5:50Speaker 2: what is it, sodium bicarbonate Armenhemmer baking soda people will take.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And then, of course if they have increased metabolic requirements
- 5:59Speaker 2: like a pregnancy or the aging of an individual, or
- 6:03Speaker 2: you have some type of congenital weakness that's actually a
- 6:06Speaker 2: legitimate DNA issue, And again those are going to be
- 6:12Speaker 2: less than one percent of the population. The buy and
- 6:15Speaker 2: large people that we're dealing is just the simple aging process.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Now again, people get pregnant, meaning women get pregnant, and
- 6:23Speaker 2: so you're going to have an increased demand for digestion
- 6:27Speaker 2: because you're now feeding you, and at about month four
- 6:30Speaker 2: and five, we start feeding a little one that's growing
- 6:34Speaker 2: very rapidly, and so you could find yourself that is
- 6:38Speaker 2: an issue for you. Now, the probably second biggest issue
- 6:44Speaker 2: is literally nervous tension. Being under a chronic state of
- 6:49Speaker 2: stress will decrease your ability to digest rather quickly. So
- 6:56Speaker 2: why table salt? Why do we need salt? Everybody says, well, yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 2: salt to sodium. Well, no, it actually isn't just sodium.
- 7:07Speaker 2: It's about thirty percent sodium and seventy percent by weight chloride.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And that chloride is absolutely vitally important for us to
- 7:18Speaker 2: create hydrochloric acid and digest food. So many of our
- 7:23Speaker 2: foods naturally have some sort of sodium sodium chloride, and
- 7:28Speaker 2: so we're going to get chloride in our foods. But
- 7:30Speaker 2: if we don't salt, it's actually not so good for us.
- 7:35Speaker 2: We do need to salt our food. And they've done
- 7:38Speaker 2: tons of study on salt and high blood pressure and
- 7:42Speaker 2: it doesn't correlate. Now, does high sodium eventually cause some
- 7:48Speaker 2: people to have a high blood pressure, Yes, but overall
- 7:52Speaker 2: not so much. Now, let's say you're one of those
- 7:54Speaker 2: people that you actually know that sodium itself causes you
- 7:58Speaker 2: to have high blood pressure. Then you, my friend, have
- 8:01Speaker 2: a potassium deficiency that is raging. And so you'll find
- 8:04Speaker 2: that inside the cell should be potassium, outside the cells
- 8:08Speaker 2: should be sodium, and they drive certain pumps. And if
- 8:11Speaker 2: you don't have the potassium, now you have a massive
- 8:13Speaker 2: imbalance of sodium in the body. If you crave sodium,
- 8:17Speaker 2: if you crave chips and crunchy things, you are pretty
- 8:21Speaker 2: much sodium deficient, but probably right along with it, you
- 8:25Speaker 2: are chloride deficient as well. So how do we then
- 8:28Speaker 2: approach allergies. We approach allergies by fixing digestion as well
- 8:34Speaker 2: as getting some chloride back in your body. And some
- 8:37Speaker 2: of the products that I do carry have calcium chloride
- 8:41Speaker 2: and ammonium chloride in them, so that there's no sodium
- 8:44Speaker 2: for those of you that have kind of weird issues
- 8:47Speaker 2: with taking sodium and so you may find that that
- 8:51Speaker 2: would be helpful. And if that's something that you're interested in,
- 8:54Speaker 2: please give me a ring or drop me a line.
- 8:57Speaker 2: The main issue with giving you a product is that
- 9:02Speaker 2: there are reactions to something that would improve digestion. And
- 9:07Speaker 2: here are those four reactions. If we give you something
- 9:12Speaker 2: that's going to help possibly your indigestion symptoms. It could
- 9:17Speaker 2: actually cause irritation or the stomach might actually be like
- 9:22Speaker 2: on fire or burn, and that's because you have an H.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Pylori infection and so yes, it is probably the right
- 9:29Speaker 2: thing to do for that infection, but it's not going
- 9:31Speaker 2: to be a very fun experience to go through that,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and there's things that we would do to try to
- 9:36Speaker 2: bring down that fire, so to speak. The next thing
- 9:39Speaker 2: is that let's say that we give it to you,
- 9:42Speaker 2: but it immediately causes a sensation of heartburn or fullness
- 9:46Speaker 2: or nausea. Now we have another deficiency going on, often phosphorus,
- 9:52Speaker 2: just to give you a heads up, and so that's
- 9:55Speaker 2: the second thing that can happen. The third thing is
- 9:58Speaker 2: that you may actually get something like fever, blisters or
- 10:02Speaker 2: a rash, or even feel like your ANTSI like you
- 10:06Speaker 2: can't relax, and we call that hyper irritability. And so
- 10:09Speaker 2: that means that you have some serious acidosis going on
- 10:13Speaker 2: in your body and there's probably a potassium deficiency among
- 10:16Speaker 2: other things going on in your particular system. Lastly, is
- 10:21Speaker 2: what we would consider to be the autonomic nervous system.
- 10:24Speaker 2: That there's probably some sort of imbalance there. Now most
- 10:27Speaker 2: of us don't have any idea what the autonomic system is,
- 10:30Speaker 2: but it's really the break mechanism that allows us to repair,
- 10:34Speaker 2: to sleep, to calm things down. And so when we
- 10:38Speaker 2: have an autonomic imbalance, you'll take this and it doesn't
- 10:42Speaker 2: seem to do anything. It's like I took what you
- 10:44Speaker 2: said and it doesn't do anything. And in that case,
- 10:47Speaker 2: we definitely have some potassium deficiencies as well as likely
- 10:51Speaker 2: some other mineral deficiencies and good fats being a problem.
- 10:56Speaker 2: So once again it's it's not a one size fix all.
- 10:59Speaker 2: When somebody has allergies and these other symptoms, there may
- 11:02Speaker 2: be many many things going on that are affecting that.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So that is why I don't like recommending a specific
- 11:08Speaker 2: supplement on a podcast trying to help you do something
- 11:13Speaker 2: with it. Now, some of the reasons that I don't
- 11:16Speaker 2: tell the products is because for most people to go
- 11:18Speaker 2: run out there and do the next quote unquote, latest
- 11:22Speaker 2: greatest product, it doesn't really work very well. Even though
- 11:26Speaker 2: you might say, well, yeah, but everything you talked about
- 11:28Speaker 2: I have, and I know that getting some amount of
- 11:32Speaker 2: sodium chloride in my body and maybe getting a product
- 11:36Speaker 2: that has chloride in it in me is going to
- 11:39Speaker 2: help my digestive system, and you would likely be right.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I will typically not be wrong with helping somebody in
- 11:45Speaker 2: their digestive system, but it still should be something that
- 11:49Speaker 2: you should care enough about yourself to say, you know what,
- 11:51Speaker 2: I think I'm going to actually ask for help. I
- 11:55Speaker 2: think I'm going to do something for myself and get
- 11:57Speaker 2: somebody in my corner that I can and actually bounce
- 12:00Speaker 2: things off of and ask better questions and more diverse
- 12:04Speaker 2: questions to make sure that I'm getting the best program
- 12:07Speaker 2: and protocol that I could. That just should, I mean
- 12:11Speaker 2: really go without saying. But that's my heart behind why
- 12:14Speaker 2: I don't say a lot of products about what I
- 12:17Speaker 2: talk about. I'm just not interested in another person buying
- 12:20Speaker 2: a bunch of things and now having yet one more
- 12:23Speaker 2: product in their cupboard that they didn't take. I really
- 12:27Speaker 2: do want to put something together for you that actually
- 12:30Speaker 2: makes sense and that your body will respond to, and
- 12:33Speaker 2: you'd be like, hey, this actually is workable. So I
- 12:36Speaker 2: hope that was helpful. Until next time. I hope all
- 12:40Speaker 2: of your allergy seasons are without any fanfare until next time.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I'm doctor Troy and remember there is way more right
- 12:48Speaker 2: with you than there is wrong with you.
