- Ted Turner: Greetings everyone. Welcome to Dogs Down South. It's a Wednesday night of Georgia, Florida week. I'm here. It's our normal weekly show. welcome in if you're joining from YouTube or TikTok live right now. We're on TikTok as well, as well as our Spotify platforms and Apple Podcasts later on. Rich Man, how's your night going, man? Richman: Good. Ted Turner: It is Georgia, Florida week. And man, I have an icebreaker, but you hinted. Should this question you're gonna ask me wait till later, or is it like a a bomb drop? Wait till later. Okay, well, Richman: Now let's wait till later. Ted Turner: I'm gonna drop the icebreaker tonight. so if some of you know this name, Eric Singleton. Eric Singleton is A wide receiver for the University of Florida. He also played last year at Auburn. And the year before that, he played at Georgia Tech. he had a video interview and it was caught on a cell phone. And then it was apparently received by the University of Florida and then kind of doctored up and kind of given a fresh look, kind of fresh makeover. You could hear him talking in there and one thing he mentioned in there was he was asked about what does this game mean to you what does this game mean to the University of Florida and how do you think this game's gonna play out and the two things that were interesting that we're wondering if they're gonna be bulletin board material for this week is number one is that he's come out on the the the raw end of the stick last year with Auburn and obviously the the the year that it went into seven, eight overtimes, he was a part of that team. And that the the trend with that one was he had Buster Faulkner, but he was quoted in saying, I really want to beat Kirby Smart this year. Now, the conspiracy behind it, Rich Man, is is that also somewhere in there, there is a blip in the video that we think that the University of Florida got a hold of to. And because he's he's quoted by a reporter in saying that when he was doing that interview that he said the the words to hell with Georgia. And that video when it surfaced on Florida was it was a blip, right? So you you wonder if Florida goes, Why so why is that? You know, so number one, you know, is this bulletin board material? I do think that Florida has some really good receivers and they're going to challenge us on Saturday. But I just don't know if some of this stuff ever bodes well when Kirby can put it on the walls of Buttsmeer and he can start Richman: Okay. Ted Turner: saying it to his team in the locker room. I didn't give you this off off, you know, air, Rich Man, because I wanted to get your natural reaction. What do you think about hearing that story? Richman: Dude, I think that's great, man. Kirby just needs a little cannon fodder. dude, man, he takes that and, he'll build a whole narrative all week long with that. Ted Turner: Yeah. And it and it's funny because, you know, Singleton is a guy that also was quoted in there going, you know, we very rarely get the opportunity to play in front of in a stadium like the Benz, in front of a crowd that's gonna be like it is on Saturday. And we're just ready to go in there and show up and we're ready to show out. And all I could think of was, man. these are words and John Summerall mentioned it in his interview on Monday. He said, he claimed that, Kirby doesn't really have a hard time getting his players up for this game. On the other side, he's like, I have a much harder job because, there's a good bit of these players that have on the Florida team have no idea what the world's largest outdoor cocktail party is, what Florida, Georgia, Georgia, Florida is. He says Florida, Georgia. That's the only thing I disagreed with. Richman: Okay. Ted Turner: But it it's it's just one of those things that stirs the pot. And also you gotta ask yourself, why would Florida possibly want to tame that video down? recent things have even said that the reporter that tweeted it out, it's been deleted. I just think Florida knows what Georgia can do coming off of bye week and what their record is coming off of bye week. The obviously obvious they obviously also see their record the past few years against Georgia. Richman: So Ted Turner: but I mean, do you think this is just added stuff for fans? Or do you think this is actually stuff that in the past that Kirby's done a really good job of keeping a keeping under control of what he does? But you think that he uses this as fuel for this team? Richman: Absolutely. Yeah, I think he would. Ted Turner: Where do you where do you think that happens at? Richman: It probably happens in every meeting they have. I bet he has a bulletin board that they drag around to every meeting. Ted Turner: Mm. Richman: And he probably uses that to and few expletives to get them fired up before practice. Yeah, you know what? I think it's great though. I Florida's, I think this game is very important for Florida because if they're able to knock us off, that's their statement that they're back. I think it's going to be a really good game. I think Florida's, I mean, I think they're going to I don't think this is going to be a push-over game at all. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, I don't think so either. I I think if you haven't done so, I I was able to go live last night with Mason Wells, is a is a really big Florida fan. also it just happens to be a grad he's going to grad school at UCF, who just had a real big huge win against BYU. but I feel like his take on Florida is kind of similar to Georgia, and we're gonna get into it here in a minute, but Rich Man, a lot of times in these scenarios, especially rivalry type scenarios, and I do feel like that rivalries now are all over the place for Georgia. You look at Georgia Auburn, you look at Georgia, Florida, you look at Georgia, even Alabama now. You in and obviously you look at Georgia, Georgia Tech. It's hard to really describe which one in Georgia's mind is their biggest rivalry, even though I I don't I think it's gotten so unclear on With NIL and and as many Richman: Well traditionally with the fan base it was Florida and Auburn were the two major rivalries. Well let's let me go back. In our age group, would say Florida, Auburn, our parents age group, was Georgia Tech. Even when I was young, the Georgia Tech rivalry was bloody. They would just bladder each other back and forth when I was really young. True, now we kind of have this rivalry with Alabama. and beginning to have a bit of a rivalry with Texas, I guess, to some degree. Ted Turner: it's it's beginning to be the SEC is just like you've created this narrative that you're gonna see every SEC team at least once every two years. there's some things that I've agreed with that Sankey did, but I agree with you a lot of times too to know that Sankey's just he's pouring gas on the fire with some of these decisions he's making. to kinda I guess I guess buffer the narrative of the SEC. I don't think there's any question if you're looking at this year, who the best conference in college football is as far as at least competitiveness, because the Big Ten is I think the Big Ten, the Big Twelve, I think they've and the ACC, all three of those have shown incredible weaknesses as far as top to bottom. especially when you can look at the SEC and kind of go, kind of think Arkansas and Vanderbilt are the only two teams that you feel really confident can't go out every single day. Or excuse me, every single week and possibly beat their opponent. do Richman: Yeah, Ted Turner: you agree? Richman: I agree. mean, Sankey should be proud of himself. He's delivered the SEC to his overlords at the Big Ten because we're shredding ourselves with this nine game SEC schedule. Ted Turner: Yeah. And injuries, man. non game schedule. you've seen the injuries at Georgia and we're not making any excuses. I heard somebody the other day, heard a Notre Dame fan the other day that was barking in my ear about how Notre Dame jumps Georgia in the last A P poll when they didn't even play. And I merely said, I said, look, I said when when when Georgia's playing Florida this weekend and and Notre Dame's playing Navy, that's where I look at you and go, what do I what else do need to say? Right? Richman: Hmph. Yeah. Ted Turner: what what do I really need to say? And I'm and and I am saying like I I mentioned it last night. If the playoff committee ever wanted to go out with a bang, this is the year. if twenty fourteen playoff is around the corner and we're fishing I I'm I'm sure that there still has to be teams picked, but it'll be a lot I think it'll be a lot more effective and easier to pick the twenty four teams because I just think you're even gonna run into maybe the twenty through twenty four mark where you go, Do they really deserve to be in the playoff? If we get to that point, it's gonna make Richman: Okay. Ted Turner: obviously the decision look bad. But also you've seen years in basketball, not you in NCAA basketball where, injuries, Richman: . Ted Turner: I think that's what the big things may say. Injuries and parts of the season that are not built off of what the team really is when they're healthy will be how a twenty fourteen playoff can help some teams that may go through a drought where, you know, they have no quarterback in it, you know, three, four weeks, and we have a freshman quarterback who now playing more like a seasoned sophomore or or junior. So maybe that's how it's effective. But but when you look at that, that's that's the only way you see it helping. But injury-wise all over the SEC. it's happened. But I would just tend to say when you talk about that whole Notre Dame comment, listen man, you lost to BYU Richman: Thanks. Ted Turner: and BYU went and lost to UCF and and injuries are mentioned, but at this point I think the biggest key thing is is the Notre Dames, the Georgias, the Alabamas, the Ohio States, we all have injuries, man. And guess what? Richman: We all have injuries. We've all got five stars out with injuries right now. That's an impact right there. Ted Turner: And and wouldn't you also agree that I bet the best way to describe it is is when you go from the ones at Ohio State and Georgia and Notre Dame, Alabama, Miami, you when you go to the next man up, that's threes. Because our twos are playing somewhere and starting for a million dollars in an NIL deal, right? Richman: Yup. Ted Turner: And that and that is the the biggest way I can describe that. I would say you look at Mississippi State, they lose Camario Taylor. I don't know if Mississippi State can win another SEC game this year. I really don't. Richman: Right. Ted Turner: And they lose Camario Taylor, and so they're going from a first string quarterback. And if NIL didn't exist, there may be a really good solid second guy right there. But instead, it's a guy that could barely move the football last week. and I don't know, man, like how do you hang your hat on that? But also like When you look at Kirby and the way the quarterback position has been for him, and this is a question I want to ask you, do you feel like the way that Kirby has managed his roster is more effective than some of these coaches who are like, if I don't have it, I'll just go buy it? what do you how do you feel with that about that? Richman: Well, I think the reason that we have the depth level that we have right now is because of the way Kirby manages the roster and the way that he the way that he handles money. He's a little bit more frugal with the money, but he's going out and finding guys. He's looking for a specific guy that's willing to be developed and Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Richman: willing to spend three years here. not everybody's doing that. A lot of people are out there just like, I'll go buy one. We need a so-and-so, go buy one. Ted Turner: Right. Richman: fortunately for Kirby, to some degree that depth, the guy that's been here, two years already is beginning to pay off. Ted Turner: Yeah. What about last thing on the icebreaker tonight, before we really dive in and get direct about Georgia and Florida? obviously big news. son of Luke Bryan, Mr. Bo. Bo Bryan, sorry. It's a tongue twister, man, because you're like Bo. You think Luke Duke, Bo Duke? Okay, anyways, Bo Bryan, This is another guy who may be playing outside of his stars. Okay. Now, one thing they've said about Bo Bryan is is that he's been on Georgia's radar for a while. I mean, this guy, Bo has played only s about six and a half games this year. and he has racked up over two thousand yards of offense. I think he's thrown for seventeen touchdown passes. He plays at a school and and a lot of people were, you know, he's he's gone to Under Armour passing camp, you know, he's been invited to Under Armour, Nike. he's thrown for LSU, he's thrown for Georgia, he's thrown for a lot of big universities. And a lot of people said the same thing. They're like, We need to see you on tape. We need to see you playing some competition. And as soon as he played he played Milton about three, four weeks ago, and the call was made and the guy from Milton was like, Listen, He said it was neck and neck there for a while. He said every time we would we would go, this kid would would would do something that would one up us. They hung in there for way longer than what we thought they would. he plays for a school called Battleground High School up in that area. having a really good year. Now, he broke his collarbone. Richman: Wow. Ted Turner: So he's he's he's it just depends on how far they make it in the season. But also the one thing that Kirby likes. If you take the name off the back of the jersey and he's not he's not Luke Bryan's son, he said it himself. He said what really articulated to me was is Bo had the option to transfer to another school this year because he was playing behind somebody. Sound familiar? Guy gets hurt. He comes in and only six and a half games. He's turned heads. He's thrown for a lot of passing yards. He's 6'1. He's a pretty big kid, 205 pounds. He can run. He can throw. he just happens to be the son of a country music star, man. So what do you think about I mean, what do you think about hearing that? And does that just not fit into the mold of what Kirby's looking for at quarterback? Richman: It's perfect and the thing that the big thing is I read a little bit on it He just wants to play at Georgia. That's what he wants to do, you know, and when Ted Turner: Yes, yes. Richman: you when you get a buy-in like that, man That's somebody you can develop Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: And he gets developed and if he's not going to be a starter, they'll let him go his senior year and he'd go somewhere and get a year in. Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: But it's exciting. mean, hey, Ted Turner: Well Richman: we might get some good concerts out of it too. Ted Turner: Right, right. I mean, listen, man, I'm I'm excited about, you know, you you signed you get a commit from Bo Bryan, also in the same class that they said they were gonna get to. Both quarterbacks knew it. Colton Nussemeyer, the brother of Garrett Nussemeyer, if you remember that name from L S U. So we got both Richman: Yep. Yep. Ted Turner: of those guys signed in the in the class of twenty twenty seven. And so that's huge news and I really like just what I'm hearing from both of those guys. Really are when and you know, the in my opinion, both of those guys look to be guys that are the same, I guess, makeup as a quarterback that Georgia wants to have as far as her dedication. They're willing to be like, hey man, we don't have to worry about you chasing. we don't have to worry about Bo Bryan chasing money at all. But I mean he might want his own. But and I think I think the same thing with Colton Nussemeyer. I think you know look at Colton Nussemeyer coming to Georgia and go, man, why would he not want to follow along the footsteps of his brother? Richman: I think what you're beginning to see is it's a type set. Kirby has set the mold and these guys that are stepping into this mold are guys that A, want to be developed and they've got a dog attitude and they're not flashing the pans and they're not running around with a basket going, how much money are you going to put in my basket? That's not the guy that Kirby's looking for and we're beginning to see these guys that are coming in, they're fitting into this mold that Kirby has set, you know? Ted Turner: Yeah, no, I agree, man. I agree. Well, all right, man, let's hop in. So Georgia, Florida, Halloween 330, Mercedes Benz. It's the world's largest indoor cocktail party this weekend. right off the bat, Rich Man, a lot of people have asked me. They're like, I got a lot of TikTok viewers, a lot of emails, and a lot of things that were asked where it's like, what does Kirby do on a bye week? And what does Kirby do on a bye week leading up to Florida? And I think a lot of people would be remiss to know that, Kirby is trying new things. I I can give you pretty in-depth information to know what last week looked like. last week, on Tuesday, it was not bloody Tuesday. This was a a day where a little something different was done last week. he had what was called a first and second year player scrimmage. I thought that was pretty cool. It gave the opportunity for some of the starters to kind of rest, give them that extra day. Richman: So Ted Turner: and then ones and twos, I'm sorry, first and second year players went at it. And I think he was accomplishing two things here, Richmond. I think he was accomplishing number one, to give these starters a rest and to and to give them an extra day, but also have a day where to go, who can help us? Who's gonna stand out from this? And who can help us that we don't know can help us for the rest of the year? Who are who's gonna stand out? And I'm gonna talk a little bit about that when we get into keys. Richman: Yep. Ted Turner: But then Wednesday was a light walkthrough. they they still practiced, but then Thursday was the difference maker. Thursday was a go after it, get after it practice. They really it was a mimic bloody Tuesday. They hit really hard because Kirby was going to get ready, send them home for the weekend. And so Thursday was your your average practice, whether it would be a bloody Tuesday. they got after it, they got to go home. Friday, Saturday, obviously it was good for them because this will be it probably. they won't, if George is playing into Christmas and the new year, time at home will be scarce. So I agree with that. And I think Kirby's playing for the long haul, but he's also trying to be smart. And and I think, you know, that's something that some coaches are not adapting well with is I understand that our fans are like, we got to get after it. And after a loss to Auburn, like we got to go out there and we gotta practice them all seven days, run them till they can't. and that's that's changed a little bit. And so they came back Sunday night, had meetings, and then practice started out Monday. What what grabs your attention about all that, Rich Man, as far as Kirby and how he's trying to keep things intense but trying to change it up for the for the long haul? Richman: I think it's I like that I like the change-up especially with letting the the newer players come in and Go at it on Tuesday and see if If anybody stands out, I think that's I think that's shrewd I think it's also nice because when you mix it up a little you know, gets monotonous you go through a season Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: it gets really monotonous and so to mix it up that have it different I think that just throws a little life back into it so Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: you're just not going through the motions so it think it's good stuff Ted Turner: I think it's really smart, man. I think it's really smart. Now, I want to give my key players that stood out. and I think one of these guys will be somebody we see a lot more of the rest of the year. on the offensive side of the ball, one of the key guys that stood out that has not that has been kind of quiet has been Elias Williams. Now, you gotta think Elias, you know, gotta think, well, okay, Elias Williams, first, second year, he's a starter. Why is it but Listen, I mean, the tight ends this year, they're not getting, it's not that they're not getting targeted. I mean, one and eighty-one are getting targeted right now. Why? Because they're just making a difference on the offensive side of the ball. And I and I will tell you, at the end of the day, I mean, you gotta look at you gotta look at what the fan base would say. The tight end room, why are we not throwing to the tight ends? The tight ends get the ball. Why are we throwing out throwing to the wide receivers? At the end of the day, somebody's got to get the ball. And right now it's one and it's 81. they're they're making plays. now on the defensive side of the ball, this is the person that I think is gonna be seeing some substantial play in time that has seen a little bit, but is a name that we know, but I think needs to see the field a lot more if we're gonna get pressure with four. And that's that's Val Denson. I think he is a defensive lineman that is incredibly talented. I think he's twitchy. I think he can get off of blocks. And I think when he's been in there and the play count that he's had as a young freshman, he has done some really good things. I think you're going to get a lot more out of him and see him a lot more. what do you think about those two names? And Richman, are there two names that jump out to you that you're like, man, I wish we would see more of these guys the rest of the year? Richman: Yeah, I like that. I'm not sure I'd follow it, but I like that. like especially Sal on the defense. We need some help on the defensive line. We just need to, I don't know if it's or what, but we definitely need to improve a little bit there. Ted Turner: Yeah, I totally agree. Totally agree. Rich Man, as we jump into Florida, right? what stands out to you? We're gonna go over our keys to victory tonight. but what stands out to you that coming into this game that Florida can do to really irritate Georgia from the top down? Richman: Well, it depends on which quarterback we see. And then Ted Turner: True. Richman: the running back that they have, I mean, that guy's a beast. So, I'm Ted Turner: Yeah, Jaden Baugh is is good. Richman: a little concerned about the running game. I mean, I think the key to the game is gonna be shut down the run and make them throw the ball. But. that that running back and I you know, it's just kind of weird. We don't know if we're gonna have The run game plus one with their backup quarterback or whether we're gonna have The other guys back that can throw the ball. So it's kind of I don't know how you prepare for that. I guess you prepare for both of them, right? but Ted Turner: Yeah, yeah. Richman: You know, I think the game plan's got to be shut down the run and and that gets Ted Turner: Yeah, I Richman: That gets even harder with their backup quarterback. Because he's got some legs. He can motor. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. I agree. I taught as I was talking to Mason last night, he he thought his choice would have been Tramel Jones. but one thing I said was I was like, you gotta be careful here because even though you like the athleticism of Tramel Jones, you have to wonder, are we at liberty for more of the playbook for Florida with Philo with Buster Faulkner? And are we of less of the playbook? Richman: Yeah, because he's been with Buster Faulkner a while, so I would say they're better off with Philo and then if they need to bring the other guy in, I don't know. I think it's gonna be shut down to run in my book. That's what's gotta happen. Ted Turner: Yeah, yeah, I agree. I agree. I think also when you look at this this game, you know, a lot of people are like, This is Georgia, Florida. This is there's so many things this year that will not feel like Georgia, Florida, right? So it's a first year coach in John Summerall. it's not in in Jacksonville, it's in Mercedes-Benz in Atlanta. it's also not a game that in my opinion with NIL and we don't really know how rivalries will change. The longer and longer you get into a system where kids are like where they're able to jump jump teams yearly, really. you don't know how that'll continue to play out. But with that being said, you look at Kirby and he is not going to let this team. I feel like from Kirby's standpoint, he always takes Florida a little bit more personal. And I'll tell you why. I think it's because when you look at Florida and you look at the recruiting pipeline that comes through Georgia, Florida, it's a very important game when it comes down to hey, why are you going to Florida? Why do you want to come to Georgia? Right. I think we saw that for six or seven years. Richman: Yep. Ted Turner: when Mark Rick was getting it taken to him every single year by Spurrier, right? And so very key, important game for a lot of aspects, not only with wins and losses and playoffs and SEC championships, but recruiting battles and the fact that this is one game that you're not getting on campus, I think the win is kind of like your win. without having to get those guys on campus that are going, I don't know, man, Georgia, Florida. And we don't really know all that. We know what schools kids want to go to by what we report. But at the end of the day, these kids sometimes it it it it's all dependent upon money. It's all dependent upon money first, playing time and third, the ability to win. And notice I said third, the ability to win, because I do think that's becoming l less and less popular with players. I I don't know. Richman: So So. Ted Turner: I'm not even sure that NFL teams anymore like, do I go somewhere where I want to win an NF a Super Bowl or do I wanna, go somewhere where I get paid millions of dollars. but I guess we'll never know. also, you know, Rich Man, wanted wanted to kind of hit I'm sure the fan base and a lot of people are talking about this, chatting about this, but when you look at Jaden Ball, when you look at the running game from Georgia. One key thing that I read today was that when Georgia has not allowed a hundred yards rushing, they are six and this year. when Jaden Baugh has ran for 90 plus yards this year, Florida's undefeated as well. So I think what you just said matches up with this clear cut that Geor it's gonna be very important. I I I know a lot of this is centered around the skill players. You know, you look at wide receiver, you look at the tight ends, you look at the defense. Richman: So, Ted Turner: But I think this is gonna be a game that has a lot to be said in the trenches with the run game, right? Richman: Well, I'll tell you, I'll tell you something else too. This is the kind of the inverse of that. The best way to beat Florida is going to be to keep their offense off the field, which means our offense needs to sustain drives. We need to have our running game in gear. we don't just, we don't necessarily need to just go down the field, throwing the ball and score real fast. we need to sustain drives and eat up some clock and keep them off the field. That's going to be, that's going to be Ted Turner: Yes, yes. Richman: part, I that's gonna be the complimentary side of this for sure. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, one another thing that came up in that whole characteristic was the run game and then like people are like the tight ends, like what's what's going on with the tight ends? And and my first answer will be I I said it earlier, one and eighty-one are getting a lot of touches. and they should be. Like they're they're go to guys for Gunner, and I think they've proven the fact that, you know, with Isaiah Canyon being out, they were two guys that really had to step up. And they have, but a lot of questions on them is wide receiver tight end explosives, you know, some fans, you know, they think Georgia can't, you know, they they think Georgia's losing and why aren't we targeting tight ends because of, you know, that's why we're losing and things that nature. Richman: Well, mean, we've been able to spread the ball around. That's part of it. We've had good Ted Turner: I agree. I agree. Richman: running game. We've had tight ends making plays and our wide receivers have made fantastic plays this year. if you look at, you go back and look at some of the stats of how many different people are touching the ball every game. That's why it looks like you're not using your wide receiver room. mean, your tight end room, even though you are, you another thing too, like this week, hopefully we see 13 and 14 personnel because When you've got those tight ends on the field, that enhances your running game, but it also opens up your passing to the tight ends too, because it's very difficult Ted Turner: Yes. Richman: for them to determine what those linebackers need to be doing. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. I agree. And I I was just gonna mention to you that the thing that stood out that I think some fans are looking or overlooking is the fact that, you know, Gunner right now is throwing and completing more than thirty percent of his more of his passes. Let me get the let me get the quote right. He's he's completing more than thirty percent of the passes right now at this this time of year than last year, in the ten to twenty yard explosive range than he was last year. Richman: Yeah. Ted Turner: I probably butchered that how I said it, but basically everything that we said we needed to do this year is far because explosives are not considered to be always just, hey, we gotta hit somebody for eighty yards down the seam, right? he's doing that at a higher level. He did it even in the loss against Auburn, he did it, he did it Richman: Not only is he doing it at a higher level, but he's doing it all over the field. It's not just in one zone. And that's been impressive. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I totally agree with that. I totally agree with that. Totally agree with that. all right. So let's hop in. Keys to victory. obviously we talked about some players of interest last night. I'll rename them. Obviously, Gunnar Stockton. Everybody's been talking about Gunner. How's he doing? what's he, about? Is is he is he recovered from whatever happened last week? It's been reported that he was he's been fine in practice, everything's good to go. obviously Gunner, there's I don't know about you, Rich Man, but in in November and December, I I I trust two things in college football, and that's coaches and quarterbacks. Richman: success. Ted Turner: that's what I trust. And and and that's why as far as keys in this game and what we need to look at when we look at players is Gunner's number one on my list because we're in a part of the season where it seems like mistakes by the quarterback will be part of how these teams can lose. games they need to win in November and December. when you look at we talked about Aaron Philo is it Tramel Jones, it gives me the reason behind going. I know Tremel Jones has earned a lot of the, I I guess you would say attention from the Texas game, but do you put this ball in the hands of Eric Filo Aaron Philo because you trust quarterbacks and you trust coaches, head coaches in November, is this a game where he knows a little bit more about what's at stake? The playbook with a George defense like like they have, and as much as Glenn Schumann knows Buster Faulkner, does that playbook need to be a little bit more wide open so they don't get one dimensional? So I think that's very important. And then the obviously the running back situation. I think we talked about ball a little bit, but I think it's very key that we talk about we're gonna hit defense too, but I think it's key we talk about is Nate Frazier healthy? And if Nate Frazier's not healthy, I feel like we missed some opportunities with Bo Walker against Auburn. Why is Bo Walker not getting any carries against Auburn? Richman: Yeah, I think I think they decided to go with Frazier and in the midst of the game and everything that was going on, think they kind of lost. Somebody wasn't looking and going, okay, Frazier doesn't have it. We need to make a change here. That never happened. I don't know how that doesn't happen in games when you've got all these grad assistants and everybody, know, there should, somebody should be looking for that kind of stuff. But. hopefully Frazier's back and he's good to go. He was definitely tentative against Auburn and just didn't look, it just didn't look comfortable at all. I mean, think he was, what he was two, two or three yard average care on his carries. So, we'll see. Ted Turner: When you look at when you look at that though, Rich Man, you look and you go between Florida and Georgia, it feels like fast start and it feels like who is gonna get the line of scrimmage established the quickest. I think that's huge. I don't think Georgia can wait on that. You know how you've had those times this year where Georgia goes they play either toe to toe or they're a little bit behind where they need to be and then they go in at halftime. I think that pregame conversation needs to be more centered around what normally happens at halftime, right? It's like, look, Richman: Well. Ted Turner: we need to be effective in the trenches. We need to move people. We need to get, we need to get running lanes, and we need to go with the hot hand. And that means if we're going to give a couple carries to Nate, to, to Bo, to Dwight, and then whoever's Richman: Well, just Ted Turner: hitting it, hit it. Richman: look based on what we've seen in the last few outings and where we're at in the season, Dwight needs to be the number one and he needs, he needs to be the one you go with and then you can work other people in and see what happens. But he's proven himself. He's a demon out there. They need to, they need to make him number one and they need to go with him and let him set the pace. Of course they don't, they don't listen to me, but That would be my assessment if I wasn't calling the shots for sure. And I would run Fraser, Ted Turner: Yeah, no, I I agree with that. I I think I think he offers a lot. Richman: but if Fraser looks tentative and uncomfortable, then you gotta bring Bo in as the backup, would Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Richman: be my guess. Ted Turner: Yeah. And a lot of it could have been Richman: And I, know, build it play against Auburn, did he? Ted Turner: no he did not. but also Richman: What's the word? there any word that's come out? Is he hurt or is or he just Ted Turner: It's not, you know how Georgia is, man. They're I I feel like they're a hot hand room. but I did notice one thing that and we're gonna get in, I'm gonna we're gonna get your keys to victory and and get and get mine and we're gonna pick this game. But at the end of the day, let me tell you what just rubs me the wrong way, right? When you look at this game, Georgia doesn't need to come out and out and and try to outsmart this whole thing, okay? You look at the quarterback situation, Gunnar Stockton is clearly Richman: Thanks. Ted Turner: the better quarterback out of both of these guys. The better run game as far as tot total run game, even though Jaden Baugh is really hot and he's gonna come in and he's gonna have he's gonna be playing in front of his home crowd. He went to high school in Atlanta and this will be an opportunity for him to show out and this and that and the other. This the run game for Georgia is more dominant. The line is better, it's stronger, it's more physical, the defensive lines are more physical, the pass defense is Is is leaps and bounds better than Florida. And at the end of the day, Georgia just needs to come out and play physical and just be the damn better team. Cause they are. I mean, at the end of the day, that's what it boils down to. They're the better team. And we just have we just haven't seen Georgia against. I mean, when you look at Oklahoma, you can kind of say, okay, it was nice to see that offense show up against a really good defense. But like, I want to see this defense show up against an offense that's supposed to put up some numbers. And just literally yes, just establish your dominance because you can. Richman: Yeah, I would look I would love to see a dominant performance because I'm inclined to agree with you and that's one thing is kind of weird like just from a physical Well just from the the quality of athletes that we have, you you would think with the quality of athletes we had, we should have eventually won that game against Auburn somehow. But in Ted Turner: Exactly. Richman: rivalry games that you throw that out the window and you can throw that out on the window this Saturday too with with Florida, because Florida thinks they're back and they got to beat us to be back. They're coming with everything they got. They're going to be some high emotions here and We've got to control the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense to win this game. But I have a feeling it is gonna be a dog fight down there. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. Well that being said, Rich Man Light, let's talk. What are your so we so three keys to victory? let's hear what you got. I I shared a few last night. but what are three keys to victory? Georgia walks out with a win, how? Richman: Well, we got to establish a run and control the line of scrimmage. know, Gunner's 74 % of his passes. He needs to take what they give him, but we don't need to get out there and put on a pass and show we need to control the line of scrimmage that we need to control the possession, the time of possession. That, that I think is going to be as big a deal as anything. And the defense, they just got to be physical and tackle. I they got to be physical and tackle. last week was just crazy. So they just didn't look like themselves at all. Ted Turner: Yeah. And before I'm Richman: I don't think we're going to have KJ back either, and that's a little concerning. Ted Turner: I don't know. I I haven't the the the reports obviously out right now. I could look that up. Let's check that out while we're what about is that so you did said defense, offense. is that is that all you got? Or I'm gonna peek at the injury report as we speak. so let me really Richman: I'll tell you another thing that we need to be real careful of is special teams. Because Florida's got really good special teams. I was looking at that. They have a very good field goal kicker. They have a very good punter. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Richman: And they're returning punts and kickoffs back average 24 yards. So we need to be real careful with special teams because that's one area that we haven't been quite as effective this year as we normally are. So that's another area that we need to be real careful about. Ted Turner: I agree. And I also feel like I'm I'm a tag on the yours, but I do feel like when we had opportunities to pin Auburn behind the tw the ten, fifteen yard line, I think we let off the hook a lot, man. We gotta get the ball. Yeah. Richman: where our punter was terrible. He can't do a pooch kick and do a 25 or 30 yard kick and pin somebody in the back in their end of the field. He just can't do it. I don't know what, he kicked them all in the dead gun end zone. It's like he was trying to kick 50 yarders all day. It was weird. I mean, he... Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. Just real quick, the the injury report. So man, this is this is enlightening right here. So definitely out. Thomas Blackshear, Ameris Williams, obviously, Tyreek Green out. Questionable. KJ Bolden. Chauncey Bowens has now moved to questionable. and then Isaiah Canyon is still on the questionable part. So yeah, look at. Richman: that would be interesting to see if he comes back too, but the thing is, we've had so much success with our wide receivers, even if he comes back, he's going to be rusty, you Ted Turner: Yeah, but he doesn't take the field unless Georgia unless Kirby feels like he's got that two week rev up. He doesn't even Richman: Yeah. Ted Turner: take the field. So from my understanding, you you possibly haven't seen Isaiah Canyon not playing because he's still hurt. It's because Kirby's going, look, I gotta see you, game ready. And he's a he proved to be a favorite receiver for Gunner early and throughout the spring and fall. And so I think when you add Canyon's big body ability. man, it just feels like Georgia cannot keep these your big playmakers healthy. And so if we can get Isaiah Canyon back, I'm still on the limb if we get KJ back. I think he plays. I think KJ plays. and and Richman: Yeah. I hope he plays because he's such a piece of good on the run and we. We need to bring those safeties down and just shut the run down and and beg them to throw the ball. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. No, I I agree with you. I I I think I think my Richman: I I know Eric Singleton probably wants that to happen, I think I'm not afraid of their passing game. I'm more afraid of their run game. Ted Turner: Yeah. I also think as my honorable mention too, this is a team Florida who struggles to stop the the the the intermediate pass. they're not bad against the deep ball, but this is a secondary that can be challenged much more than any secondary in the SEC. So that sits well with me. as well as the run game. So I think the ability for Gunner to dink and dump and get intermediate passes mixed in with the run, and if we try to If we try to hit some explosives, I think this could be a good day for the offense. The defense is gonna to show up, man. that's my Richman: Yeah. Ted Turner: first key to victory. I'll add in there. I think I think you gotta stop the run. You Jaden Ball has to be stopped. I think as far as pressure, we gotta get pressure with four. I think we've been our best when we allow those linebackers to run free and not muddy. so that's my first key. The second one I would tell you is is Gunnar has to get into a groove early. I changed this from last night. I had one in this place, but I think Gunnar has to get into a groove early. When I say I said last night, get out to a fast start. I think that's really what needs to happen is Gunnar needs to get out to a groove early. He needs to see the field, he needs to be seeing checks. He doesn't need to get out to the start he had against Auburn, where it just felt like he was having to pedal out of it, right? And the last thing I would tell you is I think emotions could get Richman: Right. Ted Turner: high in this game. And I think we have to be clean. Penalties can't be, they can't be a deciding factor in this game. Penalties have to be to a minimum. I think the team that doesn't have emotional outbursts and can control themselves in a in a environment and a scene where it's a rivalry game. you've seen how emotions can hurt games, with Alabama and last week with Tennessee and things of that nature. a lot of penalties for Tennessee that got them that loss against South Carolina. But well, Rich Man, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's make our picks. Let's pick this game and then let's get out of here real quick. Richman: Okay. Ted Turner: All right, man. Ole Miss, number twelve, Ole Miss has Auburn coming to town. The Hottie Toddyville. It's a twelve forty-five game. right now, Ole Miss is a thirteen and a half point favorite. This is an elimination game, essentially, for Ole Miss. Maybe. I don't know. We talked about we talked about a lot of what could happen if this year if the playoff committee decides to show out and put some real deserving three three loss teams from the SEC in there. Who knows? But Who you got in this game, Fish? who you got in this game, Rich Man? Are you sleeping fish first? Richman: Ole Miss, nope, they'll cover, they'll take it. Ted Turner: I think Ole Miss is gonna be pretty pissed off from last week. biggest thing with Ole Miss though is this could get weird if I mean this has been a team that has not been able to solidify the passing game and they have not been able to solidify stopping the pass really well. That secondary's struggled. it just feels like in their offensive line struggle, they don't have Twan Lacey in this game. We don't even know how long Kewan Lacey's out, but I think Ole Miss wins, and I think I think they probably Richman: Thank Ted Turner: do cover, but that's just based off of if they can just stop Auburn and and I I guess not get behind the sticks, not kill themselves. So four fifteen, SEC network, Oklahoma, South Carolina. Oklahoma comes in four and a half point favorites against a somewhat say hot South Carolina team. Who you got, Rich Man? Richman: Wow, that's gonna be a good one. I think I'll take Oklahoma. I just don't know if Beamer can maintain that win week to week. Ted Turner: Yeah, man, so Oklahoma just seems like it's able to find a little more offense every week. Just a little more. It's not elite. It's not this Yeah. Richman: And I got that defense to keep them in every game. Ted Turner: Yeah, I don't and I and I now I will tell you this. I feel like Tennessee had a really good defense and had a really good game plan too. I I I I g I gotta feel like if Oklahoma can stop Lenora Sellers and keep him at bay, that I think Oklahoma can score enough. But it's gonna be tough, man. I don't trust Beamer going on the road, though, to Oklahoma in this one. so I'm gonna take Oklahoma as well. I don't know if they covered though, man. I think it's like a barn burner, man. Like a another another SEC Halloween barn burner field goal win. I don't know. That's where I got him at. But the seven forty five game, Missouri heads down to Arkansas. Missouri's a ten point favorite. Who you got in this game? Richman: Zoom. Ted Turner: The zoo. Arkansas man, they can't really say they've arrived unless they beat somebody besides Vanderbilt. I don't think they beat Missouri. I think Missouri will be pissed off. rumor has it, Amon Hardy has been practicing this week. he's looking for a return right Richman: wow. Ted Turner: around the Georgia game. so Beamer says the same I excuse me, Drink says the same thing. Usually a two week rev up and we'll see how he looks. That two weeks is determined off of going to Athens. Possibly seeing Amont Hardy, but we'll cross that road when we get there. but I think I agree with you. I think Missouri's too much in this game. I don't know. You can look anybody can look great against Vanderbilt. I mean, Richman: Thank Ted Turner: Vanderbilt even looked good against Georgia for a little while, and then it wasn't it wasn't a game. But yeah, give me give me Missouri. I think they win that game as well. 7:30 ESPN, Mississippi State heads to Tejas, Texas. no Camario Taylor. I think the stat doubled. I think the spread doubled when Kamario Taylor was announced. twenty and a half point favorites for Texas. Who you got? Richman: Wow. Yeah, I'll take Texas. That's a lot of points though. Ted Turner: Choosing Texas, what is that? Richman: next. Ted Turner: Ella Langley song? Choosing Texas. I don't know, man. Is that the main song? Anyways, yeah, Texas too much in this. lots been talked about about there's been some murmuring under the table about Sark and and and Arch and you know, it just felt like this past week, Arch was a little bit more active, had a little more chip on his shoulder. And a lot of people attributed that to Arch saying he had to come out. and play better and be a more presence. But some people said it was because he feels like he's not allowed to be who he really is around Sark. And Sark has put him in situations where he hasn't been able to play at his potential all year. And so his character was coming out of who he really is, which may lead me to believe with the rumors of going, do we really think we see Arch at Texas next year? I don't think you see Arch in the NFL. I think you see Arch Manning at another school next year. I think he needs another Offense I think he needs another better a a good year with another offensive coordinator. Richman: I would love to see Arch play somewhere where he gets some protection and has a run game. I mean, Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: they won that game last week because they had a run game. It wasn't a Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: great run game, but they moved the ball on the ground and that made a difference. And Arch was able to, you know, manage and do some things. But when he's running for his life and it has no run game, It's just tough. don't know. I don't Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: know how good he is. I would like to see you know If he goes somewhere, and he had a run game, and he has protection, and he's still making wild throws well, that's on him you know But Ted Turner: Yeah. Richman: we just don't know I think there's I think there's a lot of unknown still with arch But I like like arch. I like you know kind of like seeing Excel and do well, so Ted Turner: Yeah. All right. Georgia, Florida, 330, Halloween. right now. Georgia has leaked out to a 12 and a half point favorite. give me your give me your deciding factor. I know you had some keys to victory, but don't beat it to death. Give your deciding factor and your score and who wins. Richman: I think it's 34-21. I think it's tight first half. And I think we begin to walk away in the second half. And I really think, I think the key is gonna be we need to control the time of possession and our defense has got to tackle. Ted Turner: Yeah. I like it, man. I like it. I think the deciding factor is George's ability to run the football. And then on the defensive side of the ball, George's ability to get to the quarterback with four guys. I'll tell you why. It's because there were times when we did that versus Alabama that we were at our best. And our linebackers were able to maximize their abilities. And I just think, man, when we're forced into trying to get pressure with six, really this is not a this is not a conference that can s you can survive like that. Doesn't matter how good your secondary is. When your secondary is playing, they're having to cover at a high level, and sometimes they're not only mismatched, whether it's a tight end on a on a safety or anything. You're having to cover for too long if the blitz doesn't get there. something's coming open. So I think that's a huge Richman: Yo. Ted Turner: key, man. Getting getting pressure with four. And then we gotta run the football, man. We we gotta run the football and have a dominating performance up there and control the trenches. I agree with you on this. my score is a little little closer, a little similar to yours, but I got thirty one thirty one for Georgia, Florida seventeen. I think it comes down to I think it's a close closer than suggested first half. They go back and forth a little bit. And then I think Georgia pulls away because of the I think they lean on the run game in the second half. And they pull away and they're able to get a touchdown here and get a field goal here and just chip away and put it and put it to bed. But man, looking forward to a really great weekend in Atlanta. if you haven't already done so, before we get off tonight, make sure you go and like and follow us. We are on Spotify, Dogs Down South, Facebook, Dogs Down South, TikTok, Dogs Down South, YouTube, Dogs Down South, and 24 Hours Later we're Apple Podcast Dogs Down South. Richman: Hey, I got my wild card question for you. Ted Turner: Okay. Richman: Dogs lose to Auburn, dogs lose to Florida, go to the playoffs and walk through, win a national championship. What does that look like? Is that acceptable for the fan base or is that like you win it but it's still kind of like a second place? Ted Turner: it definitely it's it's definitely gonna be it's gonna have dog fans on the edge of their seat for the entire year after that because I think the biggest thing between Ole Miss, Florida, South Carolina, and Missouri is is Georgia has to go three and one. They just have to go three and one in there. So it's where do you and believe me, dog fans are gonna be like, what the hell are you talking about? I'm not saying we're gonna lose. I'm just saying Richman: No, I'm not saying we're going to lose either. I'm just thinking, I Ted Turner: I'm just saying we gotta go three and one. So so where do you want it at? Richman: just, you know, it's that weird thought. It's like our two biggest rivalries we lose to in the regular season and then go win a national championship. That would be, you know, kind of like an asterisk, so to speak. Ted Turner: Yeah, I would tell you, I would tell you injuries, that's why I think that's the only reason I will tell you a 2014 playoff makes sense, is because teams could possibly be where they need to be later on in the year. And, in a in a NIL era, when I talked about ones become threes, it's huge, man, because if you tell me Georgia lost if they didn't have KJ Bolden, didn't have Isaiah Canyon, didn't have Bowman, didn't have some of these guys healthy. that are key players and you lose Richman: Yeah. Ted Turner: to Florida and you lose to Auburn and then you get Bolden, you get Canyon, you get Bowen, you get these guys back, and you make a run. This that's the real team. That's the team that Richman: So relax. Ted Turner: we saw on the field. And so, but now my thing is is like if you don't get them back and you lose or you or or you win, then yeah now that's where I scratch my head and go, all right, like they're not better. That's why I said at the beginning, man, I think what answers your question is is, you know, I think Alburn has a little bit of a advantage as far as the wide receiver room. I think they have a really good wide receiver core. They're fast, they're elusive. They have a, they're just a little bit, they have an edge. Let's that's a better word for it for Georgia fans. They have an edge there, but not at the quarterback position, not at the offensive line position, not at the linebacker position, not at the secondary, not on the defensive line. So Georgia just needs to go out there and be Georgia. Don't even overthink it. Kirby doesn't need to be sitting there going, we just got to get through Florida and then we can get healthy and we can no. No, we did that against Auburn. We did that against Auburn. It's time to go out there and be Georgia. We need to be we need to go look. Whether we're hurt or not, it's not gonna matter because we could be Oregon with three losses and Dante Moore on the bench right now. We could be Mississippi State, who was four and with Camario Taylor on the bench right now. They don't have a season left anyway. So it doesn't matter how many wins they have now, right? So at the end of the day, if you if you lose your games now. And you get everybody back later, doesn't really matter. Matter of fact, it's gonna be awkward because some of those players are gonna be like that's what I think is happening right now. I think Dante Moore, I think Camario Taylor. I think when you look at some of these guys, I think they're going, Why do I need to come back? We're not going to the we're not going to the playoffs. So so I think it gets Richman: Yeah. Ted Turner: weird, man. So I don't have a pick in there. I just know we got to go three and one next four games. Four and is the goal. Three and one is a must. If you go two and two, you leave it up to somebody else. That's all I'll say about that. Richman: Well, I think we're good. I think we're gonna beat Florida handily. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Richman: I think Kirby coming off of a bye week is strong. So let's go. Ted Turner: Very strong. Very strong. Nine and one. Nine and one out of the bye week, man. Nine and one. All right, Rich Man. It's been fun, man. Hey, all dog fans, you guys be safe as you're traveling this weekend. make sure that you eat good candy. Check the candy. Make sure you're not listening Whoppers and Bur and and Big Macs don't count for candy. So you know, candy Richman: Hahaha Ted Turner: candy's candy. So make sure you guys have a great weekend. Cheering on the dogs. It's gonna be fun one. Time changes back as well. So let's hope we can bust Florida up a little bit, turn the time back, and here come the holidays. So Rich Man, always enjoyable. You guys have a great weekend. and as always on Dogs Down South, go dogs. Richman: Good Ols.
