- Kiki George: What happens when you let your intrusive thoughts play patty cake in your mind for far too long? Do you crash out or just plain crash? This is the Minor Mischief Podcast and this is the mayhem of Mackenzie Sherilla. Back. Look at me. I stuck to this podcast for three episodes now. And for that, I am proud. I love this for us. I really do. Thank you. Thank you all so much for tuning into the Minor Mischief podcast. Really quickly before I dive into this week's story, I want to give a shout out for our very first review. Mr. Kenneth Price left a review on podcast on Spotify, excuse me, stating Dope First Podcast. Looking forward to hearing more. Thank you so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so much. And I'm really looking forward to recording more. I just want y'all to know that speaking as the girl who picks up hobbies and puts them down, this one hits so much different. Like I'm enjoying reading and researching, watching documentaries and getting kind of immersed in these stories. So, thank you all for helping like this passion in me. And hopefully you rock with me until the wheels fall off, you know? I've come to realize why our favorite podcasts take weeks off sometimes because Baby, this is a lot of work. This episode was supposed to be recorded and distributed last week. I had the script mostly written and everything. And then my week just completely got away from me. Like things are ramping up at work. This is our busy season. And it has just been like things are ramping up at work. for those of you that do not know, I have four children of my own, which is why, like, when I say Me and kids, like I always I'm the girl with all the kids. Like this is this is my life. And so it's like my daughter is in cheer, my son's in wrestling, my youngest two are four and three, and like I am getting married next month. There's just so much going on in my personal life, but I'm sticking with it and I'm gonna pretend like I'm not new to this, I'm true to this, and we are gonna continue to rock out on our podcast. Amen. Amen. but anyway, the story that we're getting ready to get into today has been told so, so, so many times. whether it's like documentaries on TV, there's so many nudes articles, other podcasts have done this particular case. So I wanted to do my due diligence and make sure that I have the most accurate information and do the story justice. So buckle up, y'all, because we are in for one hell of a ride. So this week's story involves three main characters: Mackenzie Sherilla, who is our mischief maker, Dominic Russo, and Davion Flanagan, who unfortunately are our victims. So Mackenzie F is in frontdoor Sherilla was born August 2nd, 2004 in Strongsville, Ohio, which Strongsville is like a suburb, it looks like, of the Cleveland area. Sidebar, don't fight me. But I really do feel like the craziest people are born in August and November. And if you agree, please let me know. The beginning of December gets an honorable mention because y'all are just as crazy. And I'm so sorry to say that. But it's it's just my truth. So Mackenzie was born to her parents, Natalie and Steve Sherilla. Another Steve. Another Steve. Like we just have to get more creative because this is like my third Steve reporting. Okay. I can't talk too much though, because my kids have pretty common names. But Steve, my lord. This is our third Steve in episode number three. she also had a little sister who it looks like her name was Danielle, which I could be wrong because I saw two separate names for her sister. but Danielle was I saw more frequently, so that's why I figured out Danielle may be her sister's name, but that's not the point of the story. anyway, Mackenzie attended and was a graduate of Strongsville High School, Gold Mustangs, and was described as the Regina George of her class. For those of you who watch Mean Girls, you get the reference. For those of you who have not, please watch Mean Girls and report back here. She was pretty popular, but not in a everybody liked her kind of way, but who does this whole thing she is kind of way. She was described as as kind of mean, kind of catty, and thought that a lot of her classmates were beneath her. For fun, McKenzie loved a good turn up, honey. She loved to do baddie things with her baddie friends. And her baddie friends were named Rosie and Nina. But Mackenzie loved a good blunt. She loved taking a good hallucinogen. She loved twerking her little dinner rolls because literally she was probably a size two. But them dinner rolls was out, honey, okay? And she loved to wear crop tops and daisy dukes. Cause who's that girl with the daisy dukes on? Mackenzie. She was an aspiring social media influencer. I could not find her TikTok, but to be fair, I did not search that hard. But I did find her Instagram page. I did kind of go back and forth on whether or not I wanted to share it. But Mackenzie's not getting no more publicity on me, honey. But her Instagram page is out there for those who want to go look for it. McKenzie was described as being a little bit more reserved in middle school, but apparently this all changed in high school when she met the love of her life. She met him in 2019, and his name was Mr. Dominic Russo. Hashtag couple goals. Dominic Anthony Russo was born on September 24th, 2001, to his parents, Christine and Frank Russo. He had six siblings, Angelo, Christopher, Christine, Nicole, Michael, and Frank. Dominic, who was nicknamed Dom, was an entrepreneur. He owned at least two companies. He dabbled in stocks and traded some Bitcoin. He had deep pockets, honey, and things were working out well for him. He loved to read and was apparently very fashionable. he loved music and built a studio in his basement. He had big dreams of being a music producer. And for a little bit there, he thought about joining the military to serve his country, but his big brother Angelo apparently talked him out of it for safely reasons, which I'm not gonna hold you. I completely understand. Dom was described as extremely sweet and having a heart of gold. And in his free time, he enjoyed hanging out with his good friend, Mr. Davion Flanagan. So Davion Markel Flanagan was born on March 11, 2003. Not a lot is known about his childhood just due to him being raised in foster care. Apparently his biological parents were alleged drug users. they were in and out of prison, neglectful and violent towards their children and others. So he was placed in foster care, him and his two sisters, Dalia and Devine, which Dalia looked like it was spelled Dahlia, but her and their adoptive mom, which is their real mom in my opinion. they pronounce it Dalia, so that is gonna be how I pronounce her name. So Davion, Dalia, and Divine were adopted by their parents, Scott and Jamie Flanagan. there was a quote that I read from Jamie Flanagan that kind of spoke of the adoption of Davion and his sisters, and when I tell you that truly warmed my heart because apparently they were looking for children to adopt. I'm not exactly sure why. you know, I don't know if it was a fertility issue or if they were just like, we don't want biological children, but we really want to lend our home to adopted children. I'm not exactly sure. And I'm not gonna speculate on that because that is Scott and Jamie Flanagan's business. But they wanted to adopt children and they she said she came home one day and her husband was like at the computer and he was so excited and he was like, I think I found our kids, like, I think I found our kids. And she's like, What do you mean you think you found our kids? Like, what have you been up to all day? I'm paraphrasing here, but this is how I'm telling the story. and so he gets on the computer, he shows her this beautiful sibling group, and he's just like, I think these are our kids. And she's Okay, I'll tell you what, let's pray about it, let's sleep on it, and then we'll make a decision in a couple days. Cause I think they had a meeting or something with their social worker in a couple days. So she said the next morning they wake up and they had a call from the social worker. And the social worker was basically like, I found you guys the most perfect kids. Please forgive me for being too upfront, but I went ahead and put in an application on your behalf. And they were just like, Okay, you know, can we at least see them? Tell us a little bit more about them. And would you believe that the same kids that the social worker put in the application for and the kids that they saw that they were sleeping and praying on were the same kids? I just think that story is so crazy. Like, meant to be like Divine Destiny. Hello? And his sister's name is Divine. Like, this was really meant to be, in my opinion, but it was truly fate. so Davion was a star running back for the varsity football team at Strongsville High School, and he really knew what he wanted to do with his life. He loved playing football. He was a star athlete, but he had suffered some injuries while playing football. So He knew that he wasn't gonna go pro, but he was like, you know what? I really want to go to barber school and open my own barber shop and really just serve my community through the ministry of cutting hair. he was known for his efforts around the community and was well liked by just about everyone he came into contact with. Like, people love Davion. a really cool tidbit of information about Davion is that he apparently was a self taught barber. His parents like bought him tools after he experienced. breast interest about watching barber videos on YouTube and he really mastered his craft by doing so. So I thought that was pretty cool. So Dom, Davion, and Mackenzie hung out pretty regularly. You know, they went to parties, they chilled with their friends, you know, all the things that young folks do. Which I feel like I'm dating myself here, but you know, it is what it is. Auntie's getting up there in age is fine. so Mackenzie enjoyed flaunting her and Dom's relationship on socials, you know, using hashtags like couple goal, relationship goals, because she knew in her heart she had a good man, Savannah. It was rumored that Mackenzie didn't really too much care for Davion just because she like Dom was her person. Like this is my guy. And I'm assuming anybody that he wants to hang out with outside of her is like an issue, and him and Dom were pretty close. But she did remain friends with Dave Yon and didn't really give him too much flack because number one, you know, he was Dom's good friend. And then number two, Daveon was really popular. People loved him, like people flocked to him like a magnet. And so, of course, Mackenzie and her social media influencer, Baddie Gold's I Need People to Follow Me lifestyle. Of course she wants to be around people who know people that know people, you know? And Dom was the same way, like. He came from, you know, a really good family. And this worked out real well for her. So in December 2021, Mackenzie and Dominic were together about three years when they moved in together in one of Dom's parents' rental properties. So the property was located next to their main house, which, you know, is where his mom and his siblings lived. and then Dom and Mackenzie lived in the house directly next door. Now, in two thousand twenty one, Mackenzie Sherilla was seventeen. So I'm just like, baby, where are your parents? Because why is your seventeen year old daughter living with her twenty year old boyfriend the senior year of high school? Like Why? Is it just me? Am I am I old fashioned? Like, please let me know. But why are you living with your boyfriend? Your senior year of high school. Girl, get your tail in them books, okay? I can only think of one or two reasons why her parents would be like, you know what? Fine, go live with your boyfriend. But my number one reason in my head is I'm like, they were probably sick of her ass. I'm just gonna be so for real. Because I can't think of any other reason other than And I mean, maybe, maybe, because I'm speculating here. I'm completely speculating. Maybe they were just like, you know what? She's so happy with him. I think it'll be fine that they live together. I know I got an apartment way too young that my mom probably shouldn't have let me have, but I was nineteen. So I'm just, you know, I I just I don't know. But anyway, that's neither here nor there. And that is not the moral of our story. We just know that in two thousand twenty one. Mackenzie and Dom were living together right next door to his mom and his siblings. So now that they're living together, Dom is really doting on Mackenzie. He's making sure that she has everything that she needs for success. She apparently was on this very strict, like organic diet. Like a don't put this on my plate if it's not grass-fed, gluten-free, fat-free, GMO-free, salt-free, seasoning-free, flavor-free. I made that last part up. But Mackenzie was very particular about her food and Dominic made sure that he prepared and cooked meals that fell into her dietary restrictions only. He also enjoyed spoiling her and apparently would like take her on trips, you know, because you gotta show baby girl the world. He made sure Mackenzie had a little bit of money in her pocket and was able to go shopping because she loved like designer clothes and shoes, like high heels on my tippies. Don't change and gabbana all on my tootsies. Like that was McKenzie. Things weren't always sweet though. Dom and Mackenzie had a pretty toxic on-again, off again relationship. During the time of living together, they were like WWE because they were known for having these loud fights. And Mackenzie especially was known to yell, scream, put her hands on him, threatening him by saying things like, I will kill you and you know exactly what I'll do to you. Cha. She is so lucky that I was not God's choice to be Dom's mother. Because I'm not gonna take too much of you putting your hands on my child in a house that I own. I I would have dragged her out of there. I'm not even gonna lie to you. I am not even going to make things up. She is very, very blessed that it was not me living next door to her. But I digress. Mackenzie had a jealous streak, and at one point of their living together, I think Dom kicked her out of the house or something happened to where she was out of the house and had no entry. And she came back and was like banging on the door and screaming at him. And he apparently like things were getting so bad that he told his friend, like, Q, please record this because I don't know what's about to happen here. And she was screaming like, If you don't let me in this house right now, I'll key this car, I'll tear this stuff up out here, all this kind of stuff. So I was listening to the podcast Once Upon a Crime because I wanted to hear their take on this case. It's the only episode of theirs I've actually listened to, but it was pretty good. and they made such a valid point. People only record altercations as proof of concern that something bad is gonna happen. Like that's literally when a when an altercation is recorded, not saying like, if you're out and you see a fight break out, you start recording and send it to World Store Star World Store. World star. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about when you're into it with somebody and they're out of the house or whatever the case may be. When you're into it with somebody and you're just like, you should record this. That's because you want proof. Like you want proof of this crazy person. That's in my opinion. And in theirs as well. And I I definitely agree with that. But so now it's July 17th, 2022. Mackenzie and Dom are out and about. They're driving down I 71. And they start arguing like crazy. We don't know what started this argument, but they are just going at it in this car driving down the highway. So Dom is fed up and he calls his mom and is like, Mom, can you please come pick me up? Like, I you I cannot be in this car any longer. And so Christine was actually busy at the time. She was sitting with her friend Christopher Martin, but she could not peel away from what she was doing. But her friend was like, you know what, I'll go pick him up, you know, I'll make sure he gets home safely because this sounds a little crazy. So Chris called Dom to get his whereabouts so that they could meet, you know, so he could pick him up. And he said that while he was on the phone with Dom, he can hear Mackenzie in the background screaming, screaming at Dom, like, I will crash this car right now. I will crash this car right now. And so he was just like, I have to go get her. So he pulled up to Dom and Mackenzie. He's on the phone with Dom making sure that he's okay. And they apparently pull over to the side of the interstate and he pulls up to the car and is just like, you know what? Let's de-escalate the situation. Dom can come with me, whatever the case may be. And he said when he walked up to the car, Mackenzie was wailing, wailing on Dom. Like she was, I mean, throwing her hands in a circle, wailing on him. So Dom gets out of the car, him and Chris get into Chris's car, and they leave and head back to Christine's house. So about 30 minutes later, not 30 minutes from the time they leave, but 30 minutes from the time that Chris leaves to get Dom. They're back at the house. And Christine's just like, Are you okay? Like, what happened? Like, what is going on with y'all? And she said Dom was just very like, I don't want to talk about this right now. Like he just like the look on his face, he was just so frustrated and fed up and over it. And it was about this time that he started to express to his family that he needed to end this relationship. Like it was going nowhere fast. It was toxic. It was semi abusive, which I'm not even gonna say semi abusive. Abuse is abuse. Like, regardless of who it's coming from. Regardless of what's going on, if you're putting your hands at it on each other, if you're being financially emo or emotionally or spiritually abusive, abuse is abuse, period. And so at this point, he is frustrated. He's done. He's like, I have given the last four years of my life to this situation, and I just really want to be free of it. And I completely understand. And so that was what he expressed to his family. However, Mackenzie and Dom do make up. As they do, because again, they were in a very toxic, off again, on again, off again, on again relationship. But I don't think Mackenzie knew at the time that Dom had been telling his family, like, this is it, like for real this time. And I also wonder if his family believed him. Because I read somewhere and I can't remember the exact number, but it takes, I think, I want to Google this now. There is a quote that says, How much time, like hang on. How long? How many times? Bear with me. Cause this was not a part of my notes. How many times does it take someone to leave a toxic relationship? Leave it toxic. This is so ghetto, y'all. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Seven times. Seven times. On average, it takes a victim seven times to leave before staying away for good. And so that's where Dom was at at this point of the story. So now it's July 30th, 2022. Mackenzie is dressed up in her finest booty shorts, baby. I'm being so facetious, but she is dressed up in her finest. Finest chaps. And her and Dom are getting ready to head out for a night with their friends. I'm not sure if Davion rode with them initially, because I know that he did spend, you know, quite a bit of time at Dom's house making music with him. But what I do know was that their first stop was at a house party for Mackenzie's homegirl Kelly. Kelly Vraha. so they got to Kelly's house. It was about 10 15 p.m. ish, and McKenzie was ready to have a good time. Which Auntie is dating herself again, because please don't ask me to come nowhere at 10 15 p.m. I am either getting ready for bed or getting ready to wind down so I can get ready for bed. I'm like, y'all went out at 10 15. Not me. I have passed that age bracket in my life. But it's about 10 15 when they pop up to Kelly's house. And Mackenzie, again, like I said, she was ready to have a good time. She had some weed on her, a bottle of tequila, and a baggie of mushrooms, which if you don't know, like shrooms is the psilocybin mushrooms that make you trip out. They have hallucinogenic effects. So that's the type of time McKenzie was on. So she's drinking and she's dancing and she's like, hey Kelly, girl, I got some mushrooms in my bra. You want to take some with me? You want to go on a trip together? And for all those who don't know what that means is like I said, she's basically asking Kelly like, let's do these mushrooms. And Kelly was like, girl, absolutely not. Absolutely the hell not. I am not doing mushrooms with you. Respectfully decline. And so Mackenzie was like, boo, you whore, in her best Regina George voice. I made that last part up because she's Regina George in my head. And I know I'm being ridiculous today, but you have to find humor in all things. You know what I'm saying? so Mackenzie asked Kelly to trip with her. Kelly was like, girl, hell no. And McKenzie is just like, I don't want to be here anymore. Let's. Go. So her, Dom, and Davion decided to leave, and they were at Kelly's party for approximately 30 minutes. So they decided to head over to their friend Paul's house, Paul Burling House, and he lived on Brushwood Lane. And they got there about 11 p.m. And so while they're at Paul's house, you know, they're hanging out. Paul said they didn't like drink or smoke or use any drugs, but they smoked. They smoked. I don't know if Paul did, but they smoked. and probably had a shot or two. They were listening to some music, they were chilling, they were just vibing, really enjoying each other's company, like a real kickback type of vibe. And so Paul says that everything was smooth, everybody was chill, and he went to bed about midnight. Which I get it, Paul. He's just like, Y'all could party if you want to, but I am gonna respectfully head into my room. You know where the door is, there's water in the fridge. I'll catch y'all later. So Paul said he woke up about three to four AM and Mackenzie was asleep on the couch. Davion was up watching something on TV, and then when he woke up a second time, everybody was gone. So I'm gonna cut away from the story for a little bit, but it does have something to do with the story because in another state, Davion has a friend named Tyler Croy. Tyler and Davion the whole t night have been kind of messaging back and forth on Snapchat because Tyler's on vacation. Davion's just like, yeah, we're at this party, we're at Kelly's right now, we're at Paul's right now, we're watching a little TV, this music is pretty good. You know, they're text they're messaging back and forth. And they're in each other's Life 360 circles, which Life 360 is an app that It's like a f not like a find my location, but it's like a location sharing. Thank you. It's a location sharing app. And I have it for my family and it's very detailed. Like it'll tell you, you know Kevin just arrived at school. Kevin is going 45 miles per hour on this road. Kevin just completed a safe drive. Kevin just completed a risky drive. Which is funny because me and my fiancee, we actually share locations on Life 360. And one time we were in the car with my brother. And my brother lives in Florida. And baby, my brother loves to speed. And so we get to our destination because he we flew into Miami. We were out of the country. We flew into Miami and I asked my brother to pick us up from the airport because our flight to Charlotte wasn't going to be until later that day. And so I was like, let's just spend the day together. So my brother picks us up from the airport. We get on 95 and we head up, you know, to my brother's house, which is, I guess, about 40-ish minutes from the airport or whatever. And as soon as we parked, our life 360 went off with like sirens, like so-and-so just completed a risky drive. And I'm just like, Bro, you are speeding this whole time because my Life 360 is telling me I'm being unsafe. So I basically said all that to say Life360 is a really cool intuitive app, but it will tell everyone all your business. So Tyler and Davion are back and forth on Snapchat messaging each other. and then Tyler gets a notification that Davion was just involved in a crash. So back in Strongsville, it's about 5 34 a.m. And a CCTV camera captured Mackenzie's car, which was a 2018 Toyota camera, it was black, slowly driving on the road. About a minute later, a second camera caught the car going over a hundred miles per hour with no lights on. Shortly before 6 a.m., nearly 30 minutes after Tyler received the Life 360 notification, Strongsville police received a call stating that a vehicle crashed into the Plidco building near Progress Drive and Alameda Drive. Officer Michael Golassie responded to what he described as a pretty severe scene. He ran over to the driver's side and saw the legs and lower torso of what appeared to be a female, but the upper half of her body was on the passenger side with the dashboard on top of her. He went over to the passenger side and saw who was later identified as Davion on top of the passenger seat with his head facing the top of the car. He kept searching the vehicle and saw Dominic laying under Davion. So Mackenzie was driving. Dominic was in the front passenger seat. And Davion was laid out across the back seat. So upon impact, Davion kind of flew forward, landed kind of on top of the passenger seat, and then McKenzie, I guess, on impact kind of slumped over. Toward the passenger side and the dashboard kind of caved in because if you see like footage of how the car looked, it was a cr like it was it was crumpled. Like it was really, really severe. Officer Galasi thought all three of the people in the car were dead based on the severity of the crash. And when he was inspecting, none of them were moving. So Officer Galassie, along with several other officers who now responded to the scene, start breaking the car windows and cutting through the debris when they start hearing, you know, just like a faint moaning. And then that's when they realize that Mackenzie was in fact still alive. The fire department arrived on the scene after receiving the call for aid about 6 30 AM. So now it's been an hour since impact. And now the fire department is headed over to help extract the three from the car. So McKenzie was in and out of consciousness, and the first thing she asked was, How is Davion? Davion at this point was still alive, and as they were waiting on air ambulance helicopters to take him and McKenzie to the nearest trauma center, he did unfortunately pass before those life ambulances, you know, made it to them. Dominic, however, was pronounced dead on the scene. Which that This whole thing just really broke my heart because like I said, the car was just mangled and I'm amazed that Mackenzie survived. Which is crazy because it's like the driver I'm not gonna say the driver always survives, but that's untrue. But I always feel like the person who caused the chaos is usually the one that makes it out virtually unscathed. Like a drunk driver situation. I'm not saying she was drunk in this situation, but In drunk driving accidents, like the drunk driver is typically the one that survives, and unfortunately the person that's just minding their business on the way home, you know, they're the ones that deal with the fallout of it. And it's just it's just truly unfortunate. At the scene, Mackenzie was assessed and was said to be giving delayed responses to the officers and paramedics that were questioning her. She was confused, but she was alert. And all of her vitals, minus her oxygen level and her blood pressure, were completely normal. Mackenzie was airlifted to the nearest trauma center where she was further questioned and examined. At the hospital, Mackenzie stated that she was in pain everywhere, but her exam did come back normal, except for a laceration to her left knee and elbow fracture. it was mentioned on the report that she had several broken bones, but when I looked at the medical provider's testimony, It said that she had a laceration, a two inch laceration above her left knee and an elbow fracture. So take with that information what you will. She denied using drugs or alcohol leading up to the crash, but stated that she wanted to die and that it was quote, all her fault for killing her boyfriend, unquote. There was no alcohol detected in her system, but allegedly there was THC that exceeded the legal limit in Ohio, which what is the legal limit? Is weed legal in Ohio? Is there a legal limit for THC in your system? I I thought that was very interesting to me, but you know, regardless, if anyone lives in Ohio, let me know. Like, is that a real thing? Because I I live in North Carolina and we're in the stone ages, as far as I'm concerned, like they barely like alcohol here. It's just not that accessible. And so for when I read this and I was like above the legal THC limit, I was like, legal in Ohio? Cause North Carolina, they'll probably put you in jail and throw the book at you if you have CHC in your system. But that's neither here nor there. We're just, you know, a little behind. But it is what it is. So while in the hospital, Mackenzie was interviewed by Detective Zaki Hazoo. I'm hoping I'm pronouncing that correctly, but Detective Hazoo of the Strongsville Police Department, who told her about the CCTV footage and the mushrooms and weed found on her person. And so Mackenzie looked at him and was like, Can't you just take my license for ten years or something? Like, why are we going through this whole process? I can just you can really just suspend my license for ten years. Problem solved. Girl. Nevertheless, she was released from the hospital around August 4th, 2022. A formal investigation started because police could not make sense of this being an accident. Not to mention Dominic and Davion's family and friends were growing increasingly suspicious of Mackenzie's behavior after the crash. She sent a text to Angelo Russo, who, if you remember, is Dom's brother, on August 6th, which was literally right after she got out of the hospital, that read Would you be able to go in Dom's room and grab some photos from his desk of me and him so I can put them in the casket so he can be with me forever? Girl. She then sent him another message that read, I know you probably think this is all my fault. I wish he was here too. This should have never happened. I really do feel bad. It's killing me. I might have cussed Mackenzie's ass out. I'm not even gonna lie to you. Like I understand being apologetic and I understand saying, like, I really messed up. Like this is my fault. I get that, but none of this seems genuine in my opinion. It's like and maybe it was. Maybe, maybe she felt bad. Maybe she was just like, damn, I really did this, but just And far be it for me to tell someone how to grieve because I can't. Like people process grief in so many different ways. But I just feel like you asking for pictures. This man is grieving the loss of his lung his younger brother. He's grieving the loss of his younger brother who died tragically at your hands. And you gonna send me a text asking me for pictures of y'all so that he Couldn't be buried with y'all's pictures. Baby, no, he didn't even like you like that. Right before he died, he told me he was gonna break up with you. Leave me alone. I might have cussed her ass out, but I digress. Over the course of the next few months, Mackenzie and Dom's family and friends were questioned about their relationship to determine whether the crash was possibly more than an accident. And boy, did the police get an earful. Testimony started pouring in about how volatile the couple's relationship was and how Mackenzie threatened to crash the car in the I-71 incident just weeks prior. Because remember, that incident was on July 17th, and this incident was on July 31st. So it was literally within the same month. While police were beginning their investigation, McKenzie posted to her social media to pay tribute to Dominic, stating that he was, quote, the last person to deserve this, and that she missed his laugh and his perfect smile. Dominic's funeral was held on Monday, August eighth, two thousand twenty two at Saint Joseph's Church in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. And Davion's funeral was held on Monday, August fifteenth, two thousand twenty two at Grace Church in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Which I know this time had to had to had to had to had to have been super hard on the families. In my opinion, one of the hardest times in the grief process is between the death and the funeral because it's just this space of time. It's kinda like And I know that it doesn't compare, but it's like that space of time between Christmas and New Year's where it's just like life is not real. Because you're preparing for this thing that's this inevitable thing that's gonna happen. And it's, you know, that finally saying, well, not even finally saying goodbye, but knowing that this is the last time that you're going to see their body. Like this is the last time you're going to lay eyes on them. This is the last time you're gonna be able to touch them and hold them and That period of time is just so unreal. And so for their funerals to have been, you know, a week apart, I know that that had to be super hard on the families because it's like you have to do one and then it's just this this this weight on your heart because you know that next week at the same time you have to do it all over again. So that is just the absolute worst. And my heart really goes out to the family, you know, because I know that time had to have been really hard for them. And I'm sure it's still hard. It's three years later, but it doesn't go away, you know. In the following months, things were as normal as they could be for Mackenzie given the circumstances. So I use normal with air quotes because given the circumstances, nothing is normal about what's going on. But she, you know, remained active on social media. And I know that she was in talks of a modeling contract out of a company, I believe, located in California. She and Dom's cousin Abby went to a concert in his memory. Which she got dragged online. I will say she did get dragged online for going to the concert. They did not specify what concert it was, but there are pictures of like her in a wheelchair kind of vibing out, which Know it's a concert her, Dom, and Abby were supposed to go to together. So I I get the idea of like you just did this, and I know for me, I can only speak for myself. If I were in her situation, I'm not leaving the house. Like I just need a minute, I need all of this to kind of just cease for a moment. I don't want to see anybody, I don't want to talk to anybody like I could not imagine. But I mean, your good friend was she was at the concert and it it just I don't know. I just I didn't see the purpose of dragging her for going to the concert, especially if Abby talked her into it and it was in Dom's memory. I just know me, Kiana Amir, I could not. And apparently the people online shared the same sentiments. So while McKenzie was trying to piece her life back together, again, the people online were dragging her. Many were not believing McKenzie's version of events, so much so that people had started calling the police to report her post. To question her character, to urge police into looking into her further. And what was messed up about this time, I'm gonna backtrack a little bit. Because Dom's mother, Christine, she said when she heard about the accident, she knew Dom was dead. Like they called her or they showed up to the house, however they did. let her know about what was going on. But they let her know that, hey, Mackenzie did survive. She's at the hospital. So Christine calls her and calls Natalie. Sherilla, Mackenzie's mother. And she's just like, Natalie, I heard about what happened. Like, you know, is McKenzie okay? Are you okay? You know, are y'all okay? And Natalie Sherilla up reportedly Sent Christine a text and was like, No, they were on the phone, excuse me. She was like, just don't believe what you're reading online. Just don't believe what you're reading online. Like, don't look at the Facebook things. And so that really rubbed Christine the wrong way because she's just like, Okay, I just lost my son. Your daughter was driving, your daughter is still living, and I'm calling you out of concern, and you're talking to me about social media. Christine wasn't feeling her after that, but Yeah. There was also a time in late August or early September where Christine and Natalie went to Dom's gravesite to place flowers. And Christine asked Mackenzie, like, why don't you just call for a ride? Why don't you call for help? Why if if you knew you weren't fit to drive, why would you just not call somebody? And sh and Christine said, I kid you not. Mackenzie turned to her and was like, We were not effed up. We were not effed up. We did not need a ride. We were sober. Which tracks because like Paul said, Mackenzie was asleep. So she was sleeping off whatever she had done and likely, well, minus the THC, she wasn't drunk. So that does track. So now it's October 2022. And according to Natalie, Mackenzie had been up in her room morning since she left the hospital and she had just been like, Baby, you need to get out of your room. You're only sitting in your room. You're only eating the snacks that Dom ate, which no shade. But literally Dom kept the food in the house that Mackenzie liked. So I don't feel like we can necessarily say, she only eats the snacks that Dom ate. Like she she is so dedicated to him that she'll only eat the stuff that he ate because it was stuff that she ate. Like it was literally what she wanted. That's all he bought was what she wanted. I'm getting off topic here. Y'all are gonna find out how I feel about Natalie Sherilla after I give you the facts. But according to Natalie, Mackenzie had been up in her room, only eating the snacks that Dom ate, wearing his hoodies, and she's just like, listen, sweetheart, you need to get out of this house. You need to go get some fresh air. So there was a Halloween party happening because again, it's at the end of October. And she's just like, I urged, I begged. Begged, I pretty much all but got her dress and forced her out of the house because she needed to get out of her room. She needed to get out of this house. She needed to just go have a little fun. It has been a tough three months. It has been a tough three months. And I just feel like she needs to go out and do baddie things with her baddie friends. And so Mackenzie took her mom up on her offer and she went out just to have a little bit of fun and fun she had. She and her baddie friends went out dressed up as corpses. I freaking kid you not. They had on the dark makeup around the eyes, the smeared red lips, the little like faded out, like I I'm trying to. I I saw the pictures on like a Daily Mail article. And it was like smeared black makeup around their eyes, kind of like faint like tear stains that were black, smeared red lipstick. I'm just like, this was the costume y'all chose. This was the costume you chose. It was kind of diabolical, in my opinion. I'm not even gonna lie to you. Please Google it. Because I was flored. Now, what I would say is I would not have immediately thought they were corpses though. I wouldn't have. Like, without the knowledge of knowing, like, hey, they're dressed as corpses, I would not have known. Cause they it to me look like y'all remember that movie Dead Presidents, where they had like that white face paint with the black eyes. That's what they look like to me. They look like knockoff dead presidents. But, you know. Mackenzie did have an outfit change though. For her second outfit, she went as drank. D-R-A-N-K. Drink. As MPOA. Drink. Head shot. Drink. That was what she was. She went and changed her costume and went as drink. Which some of us may know as lean, which is a mixture of cough syrup, alcohol, and sprite, I believe. I know for sure it's cough syrup and sprite, but I do believe there's alcohol like. liquor in there as well. I think. Davion's mother commented on the look by saying, What are we dealing with here? Which, Jamie Flanagan, I concur. Mackenzie did face the music a few days later, though, in November 2022, when she was officially arrested and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide for the deaths of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. In the body cam footage, you can see an officer explaining to her. Why she's being arrested as they are investigating the deadly incident. And then this ding dong looks at the officer and says, Could you please be careful taking this one off so it doesn't break the bl the bracelet, please? So, for a little context, she was transported from one place to the other. So she was already in a squad car with handcuffs on by the time the body cam footage starts rolling. And so they had to change out her handcuffs. And she had on some kind of like designer bracelet that she did not want broken while they change her handcuffs. So they're explaining to her we've been investigating. We have enough reason to believe that you caused this accident on purpose and you're under arrest for this, this, and this reason. And she's just like, Okay, yeah, but can you just make sure when you change out my handcuffs that? You don't like break my very, very expensive bracelet, please. And thank you. She was high though at the time that she got arrested, so there's that. She was booked and while she was inside the police car, you can see like video footage from the I guess it's not quite a dash cam 'cause it was facing at her, but it was located on the dash, so like an internal dash cam. And she's sitting in the back of the police car, I mean, just faded out. Like she is Slumped over taking a good old weed nap, honey. Outta here. So she was booked and taken to jail on a $500,000 bond. I was a little surprised that she was not bailed out, but there were reports that around this time her parents were having some financial issues and had just filed bankruptcy not too long prior. So Mackenzie remained in jail until her trial in August of 2023. Prior to her trial, In March 2023, the prosecution submitted their evidence, which consisted of cell phone transcripts, photos, videos, and statements from various witnesses that all alluded to Mackenzie's intention of inflicting self-harm and harm onto the passengers in the vehicle. This increased Mackenzie's charges from accidental to intentional homicide. McKenzie, her attorney, and I guess her parents decided to forego a trial by jury because this Case was getting a lot of publicity, honestly. And they went about a bench trial. They figured they would have greater success because, again, the notoriety of the case, it was all over the news, which I'm just like, I had not heard about this case until someone emailed me and asked me to do it. So, but apparently this was a very popular case. The trial was overseen by Judge Nancy Margaret Russo of no relation to Dominic or his family. During the trial, there was testimony from the responding officers, responding firefighters, medical personnel from Mackenzie's hospital visit, friends and family of Davion and Dominic. Firefighter Brett Stanislaw testified that when Mackenzie was pulled out of the vehicle, he found a baggie of mushrooms in her shirt and some wheat on her. He stated that she was medically examined and he ruled out the possibility of her experiencing a cardiac, respiratory, or neurological event prior to the crash. Officer Stephen Vanick Who was a detective at the scene testified that after collecting evidence, he determined that the car made a sharp right turn right before the crash occurred. What was unclear though was that if she turned the car to the right intentionally, or if Dominic yanked the car to the right, trying to gain some control over the car, because again, she's going about a hundred miles per hour, or if it was a physical reaction to the car being airborne, because apparently, according to the police, the road that they were on was incredibly bumpy. One of the officers even testified that he felt the fastest he could go and not lose control of his car was 54 miles per hour. Forensic mechanical expert Mark Sargent concluded that based on the car's event data recorder, the vehicle's accelerator pedal was fully depressed with no application of the brake just seconds before the collision. That basically means that Mackenzie's foot was like she floored the car. Her foot was on the accelerator to the floor. pedal to the metal when the crash occurred. Even leaving her fuzzy Prada slipper trapped between the gas pedal and the floor mat. Do y'all think he was being funny with that fuzzy Prada slipper comment? Because I was like, why would you say that? Like, yeah, like we know that she did it on purpose and then her fuzzy Prada slipper got caught in between the gas pedal and the floor mat. I thought he was being funny about that, but that's neither here nor there. There are theories that Mackenzie's slipper could have accidentally caused the acceleration, but Mr. Sgt. believes that the shoe could not have been caught in such a way that it caused unintended acceleration prior to the crash. Mr. Sargent also concluded that there was, quote, no indication of any pre crash mechanical or electrical failure that may have caused a loss of accelerator control, a loss of braking, or a loss of ability to steer the vehicle. Which basically in layman's terms mean that whatever happened at that moment was not the car's fault. Whatever happened was done on purpose. It had nothing to do with the car. Christine Rousseau took the stand and spoke of the toxicity she witnessed in Dom and McKenzie's relationship. She brought up the incident from a few weeks prior where her friend Krista Fur Martin had to pick Dom up because McKenzie was threatening to crash the car. And she also brought up a text she received from McKenzie after Dom's death that read, quote, I remember turning onto the street and then my vision fades to black. It really kills me not to be able to remember anything. I promise you, I will tell you. I've been asking my therapist why I don't remember. And she said it's because of trauma. I'm gonna try to get myself hypnotized and make myself remember. Christine Russo also submitted video evidence of Mackenzie threatening Dominic that occurred after the I-71 incident and before the deadly crash. I personally believe that what sealed Mackenzie's fate was the testimony of Sergeant Adam McQuaid. Now, Sergeant McQuaid was a member of an expert crash team that analyzes and reconstructs accidents. He was given the crash data for review and determined that the accelerator was fully depressed, which, like I mentioned earlier, pedal to the metal, for about five seconds before the crash. The engine throttle was at about 100% two seconds before the crash, and then the vehicle went airborne. At no point during this event was the brake pressed or was there an attempt to slow the car? He says that based on the speed of the vehicle and the road, it would have taken about 1.5 seconds to react to something in the road. So he confirmed that this accident did not appear to be an accident at all. Also, and I should have mentioned this earlier, GPS from Mackenzie's phone showed that she had driven that exact route a few times days before the accident. Like the way they described it is the way her cell phone data looked. It looked like she was practicing. Like she drove that route a few times for no reason at all. It had nothing to do with where she was coming from or where she was going. But she, you know, had done that lap around a couple of times for whatever reason or another. And they said that was incredibly suspicious to them. Sergeant Hazo, remember that was the sergeant we were talking about earlier that spoke to her at the hospital, also uncovered over a hundred instances of what he characterized as distracted driving or reckless driving on Mackenzie's social media accounts, including pictures of her driving while smoking, drinking, or distracted. Which, y'all, please be so careful what you post online. I'm not saying that, you know, we should all be like prepared for what would happen in the event. But I'm just saying, like, if you know you're breaking the law, because literally on her social media, you can see pictures of her d being in the car with a a joint in her mouth or a blunt or whatever you call it. You can see pictures of her, like, you know, doing baddie things with her baddie friends. They have liquor in the car. She's smoking while driving. They're driving. And, you know, like I feel like everybody, minus me, 'cause I just I'm not that really active online, but You know the picture where like your friend is driving and you're recording them and they're like looking at you instead of looking at the road, but she's like looking at her friend singing or whatever and she has a joint or blunt in her hands, like he he was telling the truth. I've I've seen it myself. But He did say that he did not think her impairment was to blame for the crash because she had basically driven while high regularly. Which I used to work with this lady who works in accounting, and she said that when she smoked, she was more hyper focused. Like she was smash reports and smash spreadsheets, and she was like so detailed while being high that she was like safer. And y'all please don't quote like this is her story. This is not my story. Because I'm just like, you when you're driving, please be so sober and be so focused on the road because you have to drive for yourself and everybody else. But that's what she said. So based on what he, you know, the detective is saying and what she said, I'm like, maybe there's something to it. I don't know. Natalie Sherilla, mm, hm. Natalie Sherilla testified. That she had never heard Mackenzie express suicidal thoughts prior to the crash and admitted that Mackenzie was diseased with POTS, which is P O T S, which is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Back in 2017, she was diagnosed at the Cleveland Clinic, although she didn't remember the name of the doctor who diagnosed her. I mean, entirely possible, but I still remember the name of the doctor that performed my daughter's hernia surgery in twenty fourteen. So take that for what you will. Now, POTS is a condition that can cause low blood pressure, increased heart rate, and fainting. And she stated that Mackenzie had a POTS episode just a week before the crash, which she stated was really, really bad. Now the prosecution ate her ass up for lying because they brought evidence that Mackenzie had the police called on her by her own parents. Yes, that means you, Natalie. Because they got into it and she threatened to kill herself. Which, in my opinion, for you to call the police on your kid, like it had to be more than they could handle. Like it had to be more than your regular parent teen fight if you're just like, I'm gonna get the phone and call 911 because you are totally out of line right now. They also called in Michelle Rominsky from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles of Ohio to testify. And she testified that when Mackenzie applied for her license after the accident in 2022, Her and her mother denied that she had any preexisting health conditions that would affect her ability to drive. She also stated that when Mackenzie first received her license back in 2021, that she said the same thing. Davion's parents remained silent the entire trial. After the defense and prosecution rested, Judge Russo found McKin Mackenzie, excuse me, guilty of all 12 charges against her. Which included murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, felonious assault, and drug possession. Now I did read that there was also a drug trafficking charge that she was found guilty on. And I must say I didn't necessarily agree with that one. Because according to the police testimony and the record of the crash, she had like a teeny tiny bit of weed on her and some shrooms. So I'm like, is that really drug trafficking or is drug trafficking like Taking drugs from one place to another, no matter the amount. Cause when I think of drug trafficking, I'm like, you're drug trafficking. Like you must have drugs in your vehicle. But I don't know. I'm not exactly sure the exact definition of drug trafficking. And I'm afraid to look it up because my search history is getting so out of hand. So out of hand with this podcast research. so Judge Russo stated, quote, she had a mission and she executed it with precision. The decision was death. She referred to Mackenzie as hell on wheels and sentenced Mackenzie to two concurrent 15 year to life terms. She received credit for almost a year of time served behind bars, as well as eligibility for parole after 15 years. Her driver's license was also permanently suspended. Mackenzie's triful and ass did address Dom and Davion's family, stating, quote, to the families of Dom and Davion, I am so deeply sorry. I hope one day you can see how I'd never let this happen or do it on purpose. I wish I could remember what happened. I'm just so sorry. I'm heartbroken, unquote. Dom's sister disagreed with the judge's sentence. She said it feels like this she feels, excuse me, like the sentences should have been run consecutively. She stated, quote, I can't imagine how I would feel if Mackenzie got out in 14 years. We will never be whole again, unquote. Which it does make sense because The running theme that I had seen while doing research for this case is a lot of people felt like Davion was placed on the back burner. And I'll get into that in a little bit more of a minute, but they felt like everything that was done, like the research, the testimony, like it was all about Dominic, which I get it. Like Dominic and Mackenzie had the relationship, so they there was more to unpack there. But Davion's family apparently felt like he was completely just discarded in the thing. So like to have a concurrent sentence made them feel like she was only being charged with one murder where they're just like, We we don't get Davion back. And I could understand from that standpoint. So Davion's sister, I think Dalia, she said like, you know, her his life was completely stolen. She's like, Dominic and Davion don't get out in fifteen years. They don't come back in fifteen years and they don't get a chance to live a life. And so She feels rightfully so that Mackenzie shouldn't either. Frank Russo chimed in saying, I lost my son. It's harder on our family, but I don't want the rest of her life to be ruined too. It isn't gonna make me feel any better. She's just a little kid. She effed up. She did a damn stupid thing, but now her parents are destroyed. Her family's destroyed too. I wish there was a way she can get some kind of help, some kind of treatment. Davion's family, in my opinion, issued the most Heartbreaking statement in this case. His mom Jamie stated, It's heartbreaking and hard to wrap your head around the fact that he was in the backseat. The other boy did not deserve this either. But our son really had nothing to do with the whole situation. The callousness. How could someone do that? To both of the boys, but specifically to our son, who is just in he was just an innocent bystander. Davion's father added, all he did was ask for a ride home that night. Why didn't she say, get out of the car, Davion? This is between me and Dominic. This has nothing to do with you. Which is pretty messed up in a way. But also, I kind of understand because like the consensus is Mackenzie and Dominic had a relationship. So if she knew, and it doesn't make it right. I want to preface by saying that it does not make it right. But if she knew that she had intentions of harming Dominic, she really should have left Davion out of it. He was just chilling with his friends. And one thing I learned like later on I was reading an article where they were talking about like just how they're doing now. And I learned that Davion's family did not even know Dominic. Like they knew of him. They knew he was Davion's friend, but they did not have a relationship with him. And they didn't even know Mackenzie. Like they did not know her, never heard her name really before this. They had never met her. And so Davion's mom, Jamie, was just like, I feel like my son was just thrown around in the backseat like a piece of luggage. And that truly broke my heart because as I was reading through this, I did not realize that Davion truly had nothing to do with this story. Like he was really minding his business. He had just been chilling with his friends and just wanted to ride home. And again, don't get me wrong, Dominic did not deserve this either. Like if she wanted to hurt herself. That would have been her prerogative. Like if she wasn't happy and she just wanted to end it all, I don't agree with that either. Because she has, you know, family and friends that love her, but just to take them out of it and then she survive is just like it was not like none of this was worth it. It was over something so stupid and now two people are gone. You will likely spend the rest of your life in prison because they you know, your judge just really ain't messing with you like that. And now these families just forever have a hole that's just broken. And I really think about it more so for Scott and Jamie Flanagan because whatever their reasoning was for going down the adoption path, you know, they adopted, you know, this sweet young man and these beautiful young ladies. And they were a family. They were whole, but they were a family of five. And so it's like to have him rip. Away from them. I'm sure that was just so, so, so painful, you know. Jamie Flanagan, you know, mentioned that Delia and Divine, they just lost their biological protector. Cause remember, their biological father is not in the picture. And so Davion was like that last male biological influence for them, which I get what she was saying, but Scott Flanagan is their father. Scott Flanagan is their father. That is their dad, regardless. He raised them, he took great care of them, supported his kids. No one's perfect, obviously, but Scott Flanagan is their father. And I I get it, Davion cannot be replaced. But I just want to take a moment to say that, regardless of whatever, Scott Flanagan, he is the father of those children. Like Maury, you are the father, Scott. So, regardless of the families disagreeing, Judge Russo did sentence Mackenzie to 15 years to life with the possibility of parole. And her reasoning basically was that she did not think McKenzie would get paroled in fifteen years, which I completely disagree with because what if she does? What if she does? What if she serves eighty percent of her sentence and then she gets parole? Are you gonna look into the Russo family's face and into the Flanagans family face and just say, like, okay. didn't call that one properly. Like, what do you do in that case? I mean, I guess nothing because Mackenzie would be a free woman, but Judge Russo is sticking to it that she is not gonna get paroled. And I would say that I saw that Mackenzie has filed at least two appeals since she was sentenced. And Judge Russo, I know, was at least on one of them. And she was just like, girl, absolutely not. Absolutely not. I'm not appealing this. So, you know, maybe, but I do agree with the families. I feel like if she wanted her to have a max sentence, she should have just given her a max sentence. But I do feel like she wanted to and this is just my opinion, I can't speak for Judge Russo, but I feel like she wanted to see if maybe in fifteen years Mackenzie would change or if she would be different and then kind of go from there. But I just feel like that's not our choice to make. It's I I feel like she should have gotten more time. Or at least serve the sentences. not concurrently. What's the opposite of concurrently? Consecutively. Thank you. Consecutively. Because then, you know, she would get 30 years. She was 18, you know, by the time she was arrested. So she would have been out if, you know, she only did 30 years. She would be out by the time she's what, 48? Is my math correct? 48? 18? 48? Yeah, that is correct. So I feel like That would have been great. that would have been good. 48. So where are the families now, you ask? Well, Mackenzie is currently serving her 15 years to life sentence at the Ohio Women's Prison in Marysville, Ohio. She has a new legal team and they are continuing to file appeals. And her parents actively believe that this was all an accident. Stephen Natalie Sherilla spoke out for the first time in May 2025 since Mackenzie's sentencing. And her parents and legal team allege that two pieces of evidence were ignored in the original trial: health data that could point to her suffering a medical event at the time of the crash, and apologetic text messages from Dom that say how he instigated their fights, which be so for real. Be so for real. I also read an article that said that Mackenzie's initial lawyer. When evidence was being called out of her being threatening and abusive towards Dominic, he was like, So what? Kids fight. You know, I'm sure he was the aggressor sometimes too. If I was Frank Russo, they would have had to peel me off that man. Because how dare you? How dare you? Because regardless of whether they both started it, which me, I'm the type of person You only have to disturb my peace one time. And that's all I need. And that's not to say that couples don't get into it, because they do. But you only have one time with me to be toxic. And I don't want no parts of you after that. They would have had to peel me off of him if I was Frank Russo, but that's neither here nor there. Steve Sherilla said, quote, show me one piece of evidence. One that says she did this on purpose. Show it to me. Then she's right where she belongs and she's guilty of it. But there isn't any. There's no evidence what was going on in that car other than the information they gleaned from that black box. Unquote. I'm gonna speak on that in my final thoughts because Steve, shut the hell up. As of May 2025, like I mentioned earlier, Mackenzie has filed at least two appeals, both of which were denied. To which I say, keep her ass in there. I have to be so honest, every source that I use to research this case dragged McKenzie. Like I was even going through Reddit threads just to see because I did see, like, on Facebook, there are some free McKenzie pages. There are some We Love McKenzie pages. I didn't see like anyone collecting donations or anything for her legal fees. I just didn't see not saying it's not there. I just did not see it. But there are people out there who believe in the good of the colony. Like they're just like, we think this was all an accident. And her parents are those people as well. So I was going down this Reddit thread, and in the Reddit thread, somebody was like, what'd they say? seeing her social media videos show me exactly who she is. Bragging about drinking, getting high, how she can do more drugs than anyone and live and laugh about it. I get sociopath from her. I get sociopath vibes from her. There's a lot of people that ain't McKenzie out there. But I also do agree because I did see the post where she posted, like, name somebody who can do more drugs than me and and live. McKenzie, and I can't I I can't speculate on weight because I'm hard with guessing numbers, but she was a very tiny thing. Like she was very tiny. And so I just I just don't understand that type of behavior. I'm also not a teenager in this generation, but I just don't understand that type of behavior. Just even the way she was dressed, and this is not me shaming her in any way, shape, or form, but I just feel like it was a lot. It was a lot. She, in my opinion, was a little too grown for her age, but I have my own daughters to worry about. as mentioned earlier. Scott and Jamie Flanagan set up a memorial scholarship in Davion's name to help underprivileged youth fund their dreams. I read an article that told a story of a young lady named Melissa Aviles. Avile. I'm sorry, Melissa. A young lady named Melissa, who was the recipient of one of these scholarships, and she was like so thankful. She was just like so thankful to Davion's family, to his foundation, and she was like, I'm gonna carry on his legacy. Like he Because of this foundation, because of what he wanted to do, brought me to a place where I can live out my dreams. And I think that's a very beautiful thing. Frank Russo maintains that he doesn't support Mackenzie spending the rest of her life in prison, which good on you, Frank, but I respectfully disagree. And he also says that he doesn't believe her story, not remembering, not knowing what happened or what those final moments were like. He said he's not buying that, but he also feels like she can be rehabilitated. And that is the story of Mackenzie Sherilla. So, in my final thoughts, I feel like Mackenzie deserved her sentence, and I don't care who disagrees, to be quite honest. As I was researching this case, one thing that I gleaned from what I would read and what I would see like on her social media and just overall, she was the type of person that lacked accountability. We could easily discern McKenzie's personality by the way she was described. And truly, like I said, just by going on her social media page, she seemed like an entitled, arrogant brat. She showed no remorse or regard for the people or property. And she was disliked by most people. But my real beef is with Steve and Nan with Steve and Natalie Sherilla. Like McKenzie, she did it. Like, I'm not even gonna make that joke. I'm I'm gonna be for real. But McKenzie did it. Like she Intentionally crashed that car. Whatever her reasoning was, I truly feel like she got upset. Do I feel like it was planned? I know there's data that suggests that it was planned. Me personally, after reading everything, and I'm in no way a lawyer or an expert of any kind, but after reading everything, I didn't really think it was planned. But I do feel like something happened. She got pissed off. And she was just like, you know what, Dom? I'm crashing this car right damn now. I truly feel like that's what happened. It just, like I said, it it it's just a tragedy all the way around. But my beef with Steve and Natalie Sherilla is because I feel like just in the way they were acting about everything, shows exactly why Mackenzie lacked accountability. I don't think they ever were just like, McKenzie, you're messing up. McKenzie, your grades are bad. McKenzie, you cannot go live with your boyfriend. Mackenzie, you cannot wear that. And I get it. I'm a parent. I understand that there's only so much that we can do because they still leave the house. They still have to go to school. They can change in the bathrooms. Like they can maybe they couldn't find her social media, you know? I mean, it was fairly easy for me to find, but maybe they didn't know. But I I get the feeling they did. I I really do. I get the feeling that Mackenzie was the exact same person inside the house as she was outside of the house. And I do feel like the reason that they put her out at the age of 17 was because they were sick of her ass. But knowing that, why are you up there lying for her? If she had pots, she should not have been driving. If she was having such horrible episodes of pots in the weeks leading up to this murder, this accident, then why was she driving? As a parent, why would you not say Mackenzie? I'm I have to take your keys. I'm sorry. Like, why would you not be warning people around her? Like, she should not be driving. But also, if that was the case and I was questioned about it, I'll be She had this. I told her not to drive. And she did it. She drove anyway. They, to me, it just just everything that I read about them. And I found like Facebook pages where people were like, Pray for Natalie Sherilla. Of course, fine, whatever. But I do feel like as parents, They lacked holding their daughter accountable and they are still lacking holding their daughter accountable. And I used to date somebody whose parents did not hold him accountable. And trust me, it was the worst relationship I had been in in my entire life. I still have PTSD. So teach your kids accountability. Like I know we love them and we don't want to see them sad. Like it's a real struggle. I tell my kids all the time, like, I don't want to put you on punishment. I don't want ground you. I don't want to take your phone. I don't want to do all these things. But also cause and effect. You need to learn that for everything that you do, there's a reaction, whether good or bad. If you go out there and punch somebody in the face, there is a consequence for that. If you spend all of the money in your account, there is a consequence for that. Like consequences are real, and she is facing the consequence. And instead of going out and making it seem like she was this picture perfect daughter. Because every report showed that she wasn't down to you calling the police on her, then I would say, you know what? Like, yeah, she did it. And she's just gonna have to face the music. And that's all you can do. But I got that feeling more from Natalie than Steve. I felt like Natalie was the enabler in the family dynamic. I felt like Steve was kind of just like, okay. But I do feel like Natalie was the enabler. And for that. She can go to hell. But Mackenzie, in my opinion, was a menace. Point blank, period. And you knew what you raised and you turned her out into the world like that. And now she's dealing with the consequences of her actions. But please let her deal with the consequences of her actions. Please let her deal with the consequences of her actions. You know your daughter's character, and you lacked holding her accountability for a damn thing. And that's why she went out into the world. Thinking she can do whatever, whenever, to whoever, however. I think that the text that Natalie sent Christine was sickening. If you truly wanted to be there for her, you could have consoled her, not sent her some BS about, don't believe what you're seeing online. I know this is what they're saying, but don't believe it. Girl, this is not the time for that. She lost her son. And that's what really like gave me the ick. Like, She's calling you like, I know it's too late for my baby, but please let me know if I could do anything for your baby. And you're just like, Yeah, just don't believe what they're saying about my baby. Girl, please. even Divine Flanagan stated that she knew Mackenzie from school and just knew her as someone who never liked to face the music and always take the easy way out. And so that's why she was just like, yeah, just take my license for 10 years or something. Girl. Those boys did not make it. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit. Period. Again, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I was not able to really find anything past 2023 on how the Russos were doing. I did see that Frank, well, there was a Frank Russo of Strongsville, Ohio that passed in December 2024, but I read the obituary and it was not our Frank Russo, so he is Still alive, praise God. Because I was like, my gosh, that would really be awful. But no, it was a different Frank Russo. But I haven't been able to find any information on them since 2023. So I really do hope they're doing well. That was our show, guys. This episode was a little longer than usual because there was just so much to unpack in this particular case. And like I said, my biggest takeaway from this was just Hold your kids accountable. Hold your kids accountable. They're not gonna like it. They're not gonna like it. Who likes being held accountable? I have not met as a soul. I deal with being held accountability for the sake of I want to be a better person. But I don't like people telling me, like, you really messed up here and you need to do better. Please let me live. Life is hard enough. Eggs are like six dollars a dozen. Please leave me alone. But that is our show. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for tuning in. If you made it this far, please leave a review. I finally got enough streams to run paid ads.
