- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Seven got murdered.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: Thirty one one riot.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I survived people in the suburbs, so I didn't have to try to die for this.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: We have contracts with prisons.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_02]: How does this contract with it?
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, some prison has an uptick in violence.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: So they call me, they say, Andre, can you come in help us decrease the violence inside of the prisons?
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: If people who held me hired me, they should terrorize.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Slay side terrorize.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: States, in a commissioner said, you want this fixed?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to another edition of the social proof podcast, man, our social proof cousin is here.

- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: You've been doing amazing stuff for a very long time.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: And build it with my brother Dave.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: Andre, no one knows what's up, brother.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's feeling.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing phenomenal men's always good to be back man in your presence saying man of God They don't recognize you.

- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate that every Saturday I'll be saying to myself.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: They pray for me Don't doubt yo man.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: You're you're a very interesting individual You know I've heard that you're very interesting individual Maybe for people that are just seeing this for the first time You were a criminal
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, extortionists, extortionists.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: I rock people.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: Ain't got to have it a stabbing people.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: That was one thousand prison.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: What you were a president, I wanted to have it.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to prison for Robin Drug Dealers, while I was in prison to have it a stabbing people.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: What made you rob drug dealers other than the money?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, unless it's just not knows to it.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you rob old ladies, you rob corner stores, just not in that.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: If you're trying to get money, you go with the money is.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: I know tons of people in jail for less than $1,000 that a girlfriend got smacked and they went back and shot the guy and emotional stuff.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: I was trying, I didn't get means at all, but my goal was to get money.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't trying to be street famous and hood rich.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: and back in the 80s, the drug dealers had no money.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: So it's hard to get market, we're drug dealers.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: They had cash.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't, okay, so what goes through your mind where you're saying, I'm about to rob this person, do you have to thought then go get them or were you a planner, thinker?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: I used to a rob people in suburbs, so we know who lives out there.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I threw up people in the suburbs, I go out to the suburbs.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: They all sell drugs, they get high just as much as we do.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I find out whether the house was with the two cousins or brothers of buddies would have all the drugs and the money.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: And they would sell drugs out of their house.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: And they keep their stats on.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Once I find the stats on my taken a week or so, then we would find a way to get to the house, going to the house, no pit bulls, no pistols, no problems, no security.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: They said bunch of suburban kids selling drugs.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: and they would have all the cash, if they had all the stuff, out in playing view, no safe boxes and nothing, and it was kind of like a game, you know, they didn't need to do, they just did it because it was what they did.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: There was this money and it and then why not?
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: So when I came in,
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't their life, this is fun for them.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: So they're not trying to die for this.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: You rob somebody in the hood.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: They read a die for an ending on hunt you now.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: But even the suburbs is coming to the hood, looking for me.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: So if I go out to Alfredo and find the drug house, cause they got one in Alfredo.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm now in Alfredo selling drugs in a really nice house.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I go out to find them, I crash the house, do my thing, get the money, get the work, and I dip.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Imagine somebody from Alfredo riding around down
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's not happening.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: But if I rob somebody from the south side and I go to the east side, they come in every single day.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we look over these dudes and do stick ups and they know people over it.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I want my PD's guys.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's always guys.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: Eventually they're going to catch you.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's a level at that thinking right now and you work with criminals and I don't know if we can label them criminals, they are criminals because they've been committed of crimes.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: So just honestly, they've been convicted.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: How would was there at any point, or, okay, how would you talk to Andre Norman to get him to stop robbing kids in the suburbs?
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Or would there have been nothing you could say to that old Andre?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: You give me 16 year old Andre in a conversation like this.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: First, I need to listen to who the 1600 think he is, I see your potential, I see your greatness, I see your trajectory, I see your possibilities, but the key thing is you don't, so oftentimes people start speaking based on what they see and know, not what the kid sees and knows, so I would sit with 1600 right and hear him out.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: Now what he hear, that his mother's been through a lot of trauma, that his sister's been through a lot of trauma, that his dad walked out on him and taught him that quitting was okay, that he's been through all these situations.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you understood my environment as a child, you would understand me and the decisions I make.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: So don't try to give me things to do if you don't understand me.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not doing these things for a reason because of the trauma in my life, the pain in my life, the suffering in my life.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever you want to call the blocks,
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: So oftentimes the only sky is super talented.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Let's take Michael Vick.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Vick, greatest football player, period.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Most athletic ever.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I'm gonna appear.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Most athletic.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna talk pretty out there.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of the most athletic quarterbacks ever.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: Quarterbacks.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna tell you just a little bit of a little bit.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: His brother, Marcus, was super gifted too.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Same house, same project, same everything.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: Marcus didn't make it.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: Why did Mike make it a marker, it's not because the environment that Mike was in was slightly different than the environment that Marcus was in, the way Mike was in the house, wasn't saying, wait, Marcus saw it.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: So they weren't able to process the same.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: People try to speak to your gifts and it doesn't work, you have to speak to my pain.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: My gift isn't blocked.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Marcus's gift that in black can get into that NFL.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was his pain, but they spoke to his gifts.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what happens again and again and again.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: And again, with these athletes and detainers and regular people, you speak to my gifts, you don't speak to my pain.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in these streets holding this pistol, not because I'm gifted because I'm in pain.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: So so often when you see something, you always say so easy to fix.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's if you weren't in pain.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: So relationships, people in business, people in life, oftentimes you see the upside to them.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: and we speak to their upside, but that's not stopping them from becoming great.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Is there pain?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Is there, I listen to people when I hear their pain.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: And my view's off their pain that potential takes over.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: So, we're having a conversation.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: And is this like an automatic thing like, no matter who's talking, your brain is wired to see where you're hurting?
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: 1,000%.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: even intimate relationships is that where you don't have intimate relationships and well I'm I'm typed out I mean if you if you were I mean yeah listen up you need somebody tomorrow and it's like it's all about your pain I try to fix people that's my problem that's my problem and gift and curse I fix people know the fix people have to hear people have to hear their pain see with their hurting and my problem with relationships is I'm always trying to fix somebody so it's hard for me to see the other side and I'm trying to fix the broken
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's just my calling for lack of a better term.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to fix people.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: You want to put it in a podcast.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: When you see somebody, you think, how do you get in a podcast?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think a podcast gets, how they how they how they how this story go, how that's true.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's how you see things where that went.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: And my brain's why I deceit pain.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I can all the conversations we've had over the years.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you think back, I've always been trying to add support.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Of all the times, we've been together a bunch of I ever really asked you for.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: My goal is to support Dave.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: For other things, I could come ask you for one of being your business over here, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: My whole goal is to support, to help.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think and see, how can I be helpful?
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: How can I be supportive?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: So you have contracts with prisons?
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: Contracts with prisons, yes.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: How does this contract work?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: The contract works is most prisons, or some prison has an uptick in violence, stabbing, staff, or so, slight things, whatever the thing is, and it's out of control.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: So they call me to say, Andre, can you come in and help us decrease the violence inside of the prisons?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I was on an interview last night, and somebody said, Andre, the prisons are failing at managing the people.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, no, prisons aren't failing at managing the people, nor did many somebody have that relationship with them.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: and the staff are not allowed to have the type of relationship that takes to influence and motivate somebody.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're job.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're not allowed.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: You can have a personal relationship with an inmate as a staff.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't work.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: So since I can't have a personal relationship with you and how do I inspire you?
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: The thing that motivates people to move the fastest, you have kids you notice.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's not punishment, it's not the rest, it's not even gifts.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's the ability to disappoint somebody.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: If your kids feel that you're disappointed, that'll be the biggest motivator ever.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: You can take away it to all you can put on my points, but you can give them a gift.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: When dad's disappointed, you throw your entire kids life out of orbit.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know what's crazy about that bro.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: I remember one time long story short I used to steal money from my dad.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: Not a whole lot of dollars to you stole money.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: So funny, guys It's a little fun.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: I have like a cash on the table a little stack.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: I take a little fat dollars just go to McDonald's McDonald's you can go crazy with fat hours Well one day I slithering to his room
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: I look at the stack grab a little five and as I'm taking the five dollars I turn around and there my dad is in the doorway my dad wasn't a little guy like he was he's worked out So I'm instantly like, oh, I got to get beaten.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm about to get beat and I can't go outside.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: He looked at me and said, oh, so that's what happened to the rest of it and I said they're silently and he said,
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: sleeve.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: Go outside.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm a kid.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's not saying like kicking out the house.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, he said, you need a go outside.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: You need to pray about that.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: So you do rather beaten.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I would have rather him grabbed me by my collar and beat me.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: I, I could shake it that day.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Run.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is about 30 years later.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: I can't shake it.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I never, I never, ever, even before my dad passed, I never got a chance to apologize.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: This thing is going to stick with me forever.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: Life lesson, the power to disappoint is as strong as weapon a parent has against a child, when a dog has against another person.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: So in this scenario, that change your behavior.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: not a beating, but the disappointment.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: So the staff who are charged with governing inmates us, there's no relationship.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not worried about disappointing a CEO.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not worried about disappointing a warrior.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: I could kill us, not my problem.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: So there's no relationship there.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: So there's no disappointment that can be possible.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I can do whatever I want to do in any time I want because I don't know about this a point in anybody.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: But we come in,
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: and we add that level of relationship.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they don't want to disappoint us because we can show belief, we can show courage, we can show faith, we can show all the things that we put in our head.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: We see a great, we can speak to things in a way that the staff can't.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now the staff wants them, some of the staff want them to be great, but they can't communicate it.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: So they can't develop that relationship.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: So we come in, we establish relationship and our strongest weapon is in potential
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: okay brand new prison you go in there they're only sending you to the violent prisons because that's what that problem is that's where the problem is day one you walk in alone you walk it with people what happens I just do New York we didn't want to New York and New York
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: The OCO, the OCCS to say correctly, has 42 prisons.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: They've had a lot of violence lately, so they called us, we came in, and we go in.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: And since this is a cool part, I've been on the tablets for like three or four years.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: So when I walk in, I'm like, you're on the tablets with me for the rocket, but when I walk in, everybody knows me.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: So already, I've already established relationships with these people.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Even though it's not in person, they sit in their cells and they watch build their tablets every day.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the content that I've been putting out would reinforce what I'm going to say now.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: So is, okay, is the strategy, are you only going to prison that have the tablets to have in order to defend it?
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I went to South Carolina that right in South Carolina, seven men died.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: and 30 will won't do.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to solve client, they didn't have the tablet.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: Evan died.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Simon got murdered.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: 30 will won, right?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: One right.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: You can get prison post.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't, you didn't put that vibe, did you?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: We changed the environment.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: We changed the environment and you changed the people.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: You don't try to change the people to make the environment change.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: We put them in a setting.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: where people came in, showed love, show faith, showed accountability, showed all the things that they hadn't had prior perhaps, which attaches to disappointment.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: And boom, there was one guy in South Carolina.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: He was in the program, he was doing good.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: He used to be somebody's porters.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: So he worked for one particular person.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: I want to put him on plastic.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Then he's in the program.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: We used to bring food in once a week.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: He took some of the food from my program.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: He went down on the main yard and he sold it.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: Now, when he comes home, I'm gonna work with you, Drake, we're gonna fly around the world, we're gonna do this thing, I'm gonna get out of that right what you're doing.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: I finally took the chicken and he sold it.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: He came back to you and I said, bro, you're not out of the program, but there's no end hell.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna be anywhere near me on the streets, I don't think what petty people.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, what do you mean, I said, dude, you put my whole program and your whole life in jeopardy for $100, that's petty.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: I paid 100,000 gas to get here.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't deal with petty people.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you can stay in the program.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: But me and you ain't going to know it past the gate.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: He spent the next three weeks breaking his net, trying to real stop us up to apologize and fix it.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm talking to the guy he used to work for and his name came up, CEO, staff person.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, I told the story about how he's trying to work over this disappointment and get his, he says he's never done that for me.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: and said, do you to staff?
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: But the staff, I thought it was his friend.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can't be his friend at that level.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to present, and in New York, we went in.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: We're just going and we talked to brothers.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: A, they've ever really seen people that look like them, not just black, black people coming on the time, but former street dudes, former prison dudes who come in who understand, because if you've never done prison time, you walk into a prison that I walks up to you, he starts talking, you don't know who he is, what is what he's talking about, so he has to explain everything to you, for you to get 2% understanding, but I'm gonna then tell you what he's trying to tell you, I get it right off the rip, so they don't have to explain anything
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I can know when it told the truth, and when he BS in me, when he added some stuff to it, or when it's this factual, just intuitively, lived it.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about, I did 14, 14 years.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: I've been going back inside for 26, Saturday, the 15th and November was 26 years from me home, incredible.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: So we walk into the present, present, nobody knows me, nobody is just saying,
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have the tablets.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: They have no idea who you were.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: They'll push you going then.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: Are you going in by yourself day one or are you going in with a crew has a work?
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I go by myself.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I bring my team, you know, life, you know, dom, you know, my man, Rick.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's how my man's the external.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: I got doctor dunked.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying I got giant bartenders.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: I got pistol pee.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I got a team.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying my man, cheeky off my leg.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: We got a team.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes it's just me because the person in charge knows me.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: They'll say, Drake, you come.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: If I can bring somebody out with some times, I can't.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: So a initial visit might be just me.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then I said, hey, put him in the day room, put him in the chapel, put him in the gym, give him a microphone, and I'll talk to him.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's actually what happened when we went to South Carolina.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: It was in the little chapel.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: We spoke, and then we went to... And went to the dorm.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that, once people hear you, they notice you care, then they want to know what you're talking about.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: oftentimes when the church comes in, we have the church.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: They try to get souls.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: They try to sell salvation.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think salvation is the answer for me.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: It might be, but again, that's talking at me, not listening to me.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: If I don't believe salvation is my answer, because the church has been hit long before you showed up today.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: I've got any time to do the church.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think salvation is my thing.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is injustice.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that I'm just overly charged.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm innocent.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think whatever, I don't think I need salvation.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: So when you get up at the pastor and sell me salvation as my ticket, that's the ticket that I have to live.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to live here.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not trying to spend a rest of my life here in this cage.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: So you take a portion of the population, get them together.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: And we talk to him.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: Talk to him.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: And they'll say, I like what he's talking about.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking about something I can relate to.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, so we went to South, we went to Kentucky.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: went to a prison, put out by an auditorium, give a presentation, a gentleman walked up, just a portion like how many people said 50 people, 50 people.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I walked up to me and introduced myself and said he wanted to be part of the program.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm about honest to me, he was the most dangerous man in the state of Kentucky.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: Did they tell them that there's a program coming in here?
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, kind of the presentation.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: So in the presentation you're telling about the program, we're talking about the program.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: And that prison there was no program was just us discriminant presentation.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: So prisons will have guest speakers all the time.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the time is the church people, some of the time is college people, very early not again, it'll be former felons.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: We just come in, put him in a room, jam on the tour and we'll give the presentation.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: No promise other than this 45 minutes to an hour.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: Got it.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: So guy comes up to you.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: This doesn't want to be in the program.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to I want to be I want to do what you're doing.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: He says I want to do what you're doing.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: I got a couple of years left.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: Can I get what you when I get out?
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: I gave my number.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he happened to be the most dangerous guy in the state of Kentucky.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: And able to escape it that from didn't know me.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: Just another brother in the audience to me.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: When he moves around people get nervous.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: Because of who he is.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: A big dime a dime coming out of people get nervous.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's my bro.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's big bro to me.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: But today, but it was all my God.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: It comes Dominic.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: because they don't know him, they don't have relationship with him.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: So they only see what he used to be and what he could be.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: I see what he is and what he's doing.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: But back then, you didn't see who he is.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: You saw who he was at the time.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: Brother walks up to me in order to tell him, so, you know, I want to get down, gave my numbers and complimented you get out.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: This is what you need to do between hair and that.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you do, you do what you don't.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: So did you see the job more interaction with him?
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Two more times.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: I went back to that prison two more times.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: they were going to give us our own president Kentucky.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Then the state had an issue nothing to do with us.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: And the commissioner corrections got fired and just became a bad timing and governor got put out.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: He got voted out.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: So our whole contract went on to window politics mad.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying I'm trying to see the process.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_02]: We get the people in the room.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: We get it right.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Then we go to population everybody.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: There's two things contract.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: The state brings me in because I have a problem.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: State of Virginia just had a CEO murdered yesterday.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Man lost his life yesterday two more seals in the hospital man had a bad day in the attack to staff So right now the governor in the commission of corrections in the state of Virginia a saying What is our response what are we going to do to not let this happen again because if I'm a seal in the state of Virginia I'm like it's not safe One of our comrades is going to work.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to go to work.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: We've had those calls with stuff like this has happened You know we want to go to work.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: So they'll bring us in
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: to do some mediation and some motivation to get it over the hook, over the hump to get the open backup stuff.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't want to go to work.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: If I worked in that prison, or knew that man, I don't want to work today.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm a CEO in the next state, it's like, what up?
- 20:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I got a, I can go work at a Chick-fil-A and make money.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: I can do, I can, I can build YouTube videos and put pictures in my cat up and make money.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: Why am I in here with these criminals who might kill me?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: is it worth it that every CEO in the state of Virginia right now questioning is this job worth it.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: So as a governor to commission that you got you had addressed that.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: And on the on many programs, I'm going to say none.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: They do what we do.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: They'll go in and talk to the people holding an ice.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: I ain't going to talk to the guy working in the kitchen.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to talk to the assistant chaplain.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going in and we're talking to the guys holding an ice.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: So did you have a conversation with them yet?
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: My phone will probably bring lady today.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: I've been there a couple of times.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: I know the people who run the system.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: I've met them all.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it wouldn't not shock me.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: I know because something hit me last night, so we might need you in the Virginia next week.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: Already that's how I knew.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't paying attention to my phone.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: You're our good textbook.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: Virginia is kind of a control right now to have an issue.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: We might need you next week.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: Is there any groundwork that you need to do before you go in?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: I need to stay straight up, I need to stay consistently in touch with me.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: I need to solve all of my problems.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: I need to resolve all of my issues.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: I can't walk anywhere back, it's thinking they're not going to see it.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Prisoners are really great at reading people.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: So if I go on there with a drug habit, I go on there with some depression.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: I go on there with some animosity.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_00]: I go there with some hatred.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to see it.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Prisoners are professional people readers.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: How did it develop that?
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: You have to do it to stay alive, in prison.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: In the street, you've got to be able to read people, and in prison, you definitely better read people.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's just something you have to develop.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's just something you develop over time.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, so in this space, you understand the lighting.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand lighting.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: I know what good lighting looks like after the fact, but if that light tilted, you would know it.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: The shadows wrong, you catch it.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't catch it.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: If the mic's on position right.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: You'd catch it before I catch it.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: What angle am I said?
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: All those things you're doing lately, you learned over time.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: Reading people was a day-to-day thing in prison, a moment to moment thing.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, when we go, we talk to those people, and I gotta be solid.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be happy in my life.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be content in my life.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be who I'm supposed to be, cause when I go in, it's not what I say, it's who I am that they get.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: See, a lot of folks come in and think they're gonna hit what I say, no, they're gonna read who you are.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever gone in, you're having a bad day, and you had to learn this lesson all the way?
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, a bad day is relative.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: See, I have bad days, but I still know who I'm in this.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still rooted in me.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe somebody on your team, like something happening, you're like, yo, this is real home.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've, I've had people, I like what you got to take a day go.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a scenario.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: You got to use your name.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, God came.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: We had one prison and it was a situation where it was like a white guy in a black guy.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: Staff guy walks up and he starts talking to the black guy.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: And he district guards the white guy.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: The white guy's like, yo, you don't see me standing there.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, yo, beat it.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: Tell him to beat it.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: And he keeps talking to the black guy.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: Said a couple words about the white guy.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: He walks away.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: My phone rings them down time.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, yo, we got a problem.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: Say what?
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: Or boy got issue, the issue, the boy's got issue with your man.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Come to find out, the white guy and the black guy doesn't get any better.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: They'll both gang brothers.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: So when he disrespected his disrespect, what he perceived his disrespect, doesn't matter if it was, he didn't smack him when I said none found, he just, man, I'm talking to him.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: He just cut the conversation off.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: prison politics versus street politics.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: This particular person never did jail time.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: So he didn't understand prison politics.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: So when he disrespected the white dude and then like I was no thing, he didn't understand the man he was talking to was in the same game.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: Because when we come from white buys and black guys aren't in the same game.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it's all coming out of the yard.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: So you're talking to this one guy and his one guy is like, bro, you got to leave.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm be here with my men.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so when I came back, I found out what happened.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I just sent a guy on.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, you got to go because you, you, I don't, I don't say, right is right wrong as wrong.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: And my guy is in my brother.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: We go down, something pop off, we're rolling together.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: We walked in here together, we walking out here together.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: and he had to be taken out in a program.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: As a staff person.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: Who's more dangerous a lifer or somebody is getting out?
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: Dangerous is relative, I wasn't a lifer, but I got multiple attempt to murder charges.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know why?
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: Because if people who taught me how to do time were all lifers, so it's not how much time you're doing, so teach you how to do time.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so when I got parole, people thought, you're like, how'd you get parole?
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: You got a life sentence, I know I don't.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: 13 and a half years in prison, A-Way thought I was alive because of where I moved.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: How did I move?
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like nomadic.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like a lifer.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like a lifer.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's who taught me how to do time.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you understand my environment, you understand how I move.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: When I got up to bus, I got 20 lifers number every single day.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: Not one at a time, they talked about programs.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about parole.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about jail credit.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about going to school.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about going to church.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about hustling.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: And not gonna be with domes off.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's all they talked about.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's all I've ever heard.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody ever talked about going home, or not.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I'd never thought about going home because the people around me never talked about it.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: Because this is their world for real.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: Their world is natural life.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, is when you say life or does that mean you're gonna be here forever or is a certain amount of time?
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: Different states have different rules.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: But there's three basic things.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_00]: Two, there's life without parole.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: We got a Swiss teacher in, whether they call it is life without parole and it's life with parole.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the two options.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: It can be in New York, they'll say 15 in life, 20 in life, there's life without parole.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: That should be pre-meditated murder or murder in the commission of a violent felony.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: So if I'm in a process of robbing you and I kill you, that's a violent felony murder.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: So that's life without parole.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: No parole means you die in jail.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's no one going, no one going, no one going, no one going, you got out of here in the box.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: You were sentenced to death.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's a deficit that's going to push you and be you need or whatever.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's deficit and then it's just you die whenever you die but you're going to do it behind these walls.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's natural life.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: The rest of your natural life you will be here.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing got my get 30 to 50 or 30 to life or 40 life or 50 to life.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's saying he has an option even though it doesn't seem realistic of getting out.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is you ain't going to no place.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: Diamond had life with for all without.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: Diamond had natural life.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: How do you beat that?
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: We overturned this case.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: So he went back to court.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: He finally described and see in his case, something that did wrong at trial.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: And he won a new trial.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: And they have a choice to try to retry somebody, 29 years later.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: He went to court in 81.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: When it was no internet, there was no computers, and everything's handwritten.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: All those witnesses had gone, data moved on, and trying to retry him, 29 years later, was next to none.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: They had like, yeah, take time served and go.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: I stole, yeah, I stole.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: But he could have went home after eight years had he went to the low library.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: His case, his issue that overturned his case was available eight years after one to jail.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I went to jail in 87 at arm robbery.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_00]: I robbed somebody for a car.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: They call it carjacking now.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: I was the first carjacking case ever.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: I robbed somebody for the car, I get arrested.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: County jail can fix me of stealing the car.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: Having possession of stolen car, say, pay the court can fix me of arm robbery.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: are still in the car, it's the same item.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: I go up for appeal, and I said to the public court, I'm convicted in lower court for stilling this car.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm convicted in superior court for stilling the same car.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: So they threw out the second conviction, which was the arm robbery.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: So everybody, I think that was like 91, 92.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: Anybody who had a similar case where Lawsley was not a less included offensive arm robbery, now it is.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: is a statute that says lost in the lesson, included, friends of our robbery, which impacts everybody who has a case in that space.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now you can go back to court and cite my case if it fits for you to get out.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: I created a case law.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: Would you go to 16 years for cards like?
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: No, I got on home evasion.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: That was just one of them.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: They threw that in.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: But they put a car jacket, it was on mine's arm robbery, then they changed the law and they created the armed car jacking law.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you car jack somebody, all you need to do is pay guilty as soon as you can.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: So they'll rest you, they're going to charge you stealing the car, because they don't know what the car came from.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: They'll find out a couple of say the how you got it.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: So they changed the law and created the new law armed car jacking because last night is not a less included defense of armed car jacking, but it's a less included
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: Got it.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: Change the law.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what happens.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: Every day, this new case saw coming out, which affects people in jail, naked and proud, whether it's evidence gathering or this identification, whether it's all this wonderful stuff, new case.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I was created every day and pack somebody somewhere.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: So you would have to wait five or six years.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: But that case will come out.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Once it comes out, you stay in the law library, you find it, you can go.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: I got his idea, bro, that if I ever go to prison, close on weird, for sure, you're my first call.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, come in, before my wife, before I'll call you.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: If they were, when they pull you over, tap me.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, this is my idea, though.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Any event that ever happened, I think one of my greatest skill sets is to be able to think through, think through how to make something happen.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: how I would create some sort of entrepreneurial movement in the jail.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I would love you.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: Right, they would love you.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: How would I go about that though?
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm like, I'm like, you know, we all go right at that.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's not going to work in the county.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to work in the county.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: In the county, you just have to fight because dudes in the county, when you first get arrested, you go to right street.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: Let's make it Atlanta.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: If you had arrested, you'd go to right street.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: The main rights you're trying to do, not an entrepreneurial.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: They now need to stay in that place up.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: Rice Street is not entrepreneur.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's a county jail.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: Who's going to get off the street yesterday last week?
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: See, what happens is I shoot somebody.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: I shoot your cousin, Bob.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: Then I go to Rice Street.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: You do something.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: You come to Rice Street.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: Our beef is like a week old.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: I shot your cousin.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_00]: You shot my man.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_00]: I would both in the county jail a week later.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's on.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: I shoot your cousin.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: I go to county jail for two years.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I go up state for three years.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: You do something.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_00]: You are the kind of jail for two years.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: You go up state.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_00]: But my take a six years for helping the same jail.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: So the beef is eight years old versus eight days old.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_00]: County jail or beef is eight days old.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe three days old.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: But they're emotional.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: So now in the county jail, my car, I'm still in pain, condoled.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: My girl is still my girl.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: My apartment is still my apartment.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: I still got stuff attached to my house.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, I'm halfway in the street.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: My mind is halfway in the street.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_00]: I was just at the club last week.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: You can stay prison, you three, four years removed from the street.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if you kind of settled into the fact that you're gonna be here, you can make another three or four years before you run into me.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: So you're really settled in, and you might even be in school on trajectory to go home now.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: County Jake, you trying to beat your case.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: So county jealous seems like they ain't just trying to chill like, so I'll raise you saying before.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: High energy.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: I ain't been convicted of that.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even think about it like that.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: The guys in the county deal are on high energy status.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: If I was a gang member last week in the street, I'm still banging.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: their mindset in the county is that of being on the street.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's say for us as you go to right street today for something we lock them in so many right street.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: You think you'd have to fight?
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: I would.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: You think you'd have, I'm saying like what all the stuff that you know.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, me, me, Andre Norman, you need to drive.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's a day.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: They'd be like, yo, that's our man.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh, gee, big, uncle, everybody, because I've been showing love.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: I've run programs in Rice Street.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's done there.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: So me personally going to Rice Street right now, most people show me love on the strength of what I've done for the culture.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I was in the tournament.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, if you are Andre Norman and you're going to a prison as never heard of you before.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, somebody's catching it.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if I come in, I'm going to try because I'm 58.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to try to do 58.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to try to just stay out the way and sometimes you can do that.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes being an old head that is the alone.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to come on the friendly, because I'm not friendly.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to come in and just try to stay to the left.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, y'all, see who won this stuff, y'all, show you respect boom.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you push a bomb, you get in the work.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: There's no, there's no, there's no office in it and why is and I'm I'm asking this line of question because I'm trying to understand the mindset of somebody goes in because you have you got experience, but you're saying I understand and I'm imagining it has something to do with survival where you have to come in with this posture either you're going to be a victim or predator.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying I like to be a retired predator, but I'm not going to be no retired victim.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: She said not happening.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, listen, if you want to make me, pull it out and you're going to catch his work.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to try to do everything I can because I know enough, I got something to lose somewhere to go.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: But the one thing I got did I'm not going to lose is my integrity, you're not taking that from me, you ain't doing that to me, we ain't talking to me crazy, I'm not going to throw my life away over nothing, I want to let you know, bro, listen, if you ain't trying to kill me, keep moving.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't bring me to work, bring me to a more killing me, keep moving.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's what's going to be.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: So this is the message that you have to carry instead of prison, understanding where they are.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: As a prisoner, what type of prisoner?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm carrying.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: As a program developer, I'm trying to defuse that.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but how do you do it when that is the law of the land?
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's because the last thing.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: The whole thing is the guy that's coming at you with the drama has nothing to lose.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_00]: His biggest thing is making a couple hundred hours of extorting you or whatever his thing is.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I go and see what him and say, yo bro, look at my life.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: I was in here, did all of that.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: Figured out of wasn't working.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: How's it working out for you?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully you see your kids.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: How's your mom doing?
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: How do you sleep way at night at three o'clock at the morning?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: How do you feel like?
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a big comfortable?
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: Is this what you want to do for the next 30 years?
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see kids in the visual room for a great?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_00]: You want to hear about your mom's dying?
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: You can't go to the funeral?
- 36:38[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: Why don't you show you how to get the things that you say you want?
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: Please.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to hear, do you have kids?
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to hear, are you close to your parents?
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to hear.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: The things you want, you want your mother to be proud of you?
- 36:55[SPEAKER_00]: If I wanted to hit you, I love you.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: And you were doing something that I thought was, no, I said, I would look at you and say, hey, we're shans, you think your mother will be proud of what you're doing right now.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: You will stop in your tracks.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I hope we're in the peace with our patient doing that stuff that you're doing right now.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: like a drag you planned dirty and I would speak to you, Dave.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: I've known you not always say when when Maddie came on my show way back when he did any of you with me.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, but we want to talk to Maddie about business.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: I said, bro, you're a man of God.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care about your business.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: That overrides any people aren't you talking about this?
- 37:37[SPEAKER_00]: How to make money?
- 37:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's, get to the root of the man.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I saw you, and I wanted to motivate you, or re-inspire your redirect you.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like Dave, Matt, who looked up to you on the Saturday.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: I, you and my prayer guide.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: Who's gonna pray for me now?
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: If you quit.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: Who's gonna pray for me now?
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: Do you understand how comfort I get from you praying for me on Saturdays?
- 38:00[SPEAKER_00]: I know my man's dead holding me down on Saturday and dead.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: You just took an anchor to water my life.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to challenge you on money because money don't matter.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe want to challenge you on a family because that's not the highest thing for you.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_00]: God is the highest thing for you.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying your mother is the highest thing for you.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to hit you right in the gut.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_00]: Nine claims don't make you right in the emotional pain point.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: This makes sense why you're so good at what you do because this conversation
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: No one's having with it.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean because the guards can't have it.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: They're parents.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: The cellmates aren't having.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: Of course not.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: And even, I don't think there's even like the OGs and the prisons.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: Again, they didn't have any subversations because they're still living it.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: When I was living it, I couldn't have this conversation because I was living it.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: Joe Paul is quote, when you're inside the bottle, you can't read the ingredients.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: So the ingredients.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: on the back of this bottle tells me everything is in it, and how to fix it.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: So everything that you need to do, I'm looking at this bottle, I'm like, yo, it says greatness, it says purpose, it says form of, it says main in it, it says world trap, you can't see this because you're in the bottle.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to read the label of your life to you.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say bro, oh, man, if you can see what I could see, this is what I'm looking at.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're in here, you can't read the label.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't know your greatness.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know your great father.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know your world traveler.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: You look at something.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: You looked at me.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to say, Drake, you need to be on social media.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: And you saw me, I mean, here, you're all great.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: You're engaging, you're a great story.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: Tell your guys, magic, and boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_00]: You read my label, because I couldn't see it.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I got 150,000 followers on my G. I got 100,000 followers 100,000 on YouTube.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm making videos.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing 50 racks a month on Clipper Chat.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: Come on, dude.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: This is you.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is you, because you were the label and gave me what was there.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: My whole blueprint for digital media came from David Shans.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: Reading my label and giving me the encouragement of what I couldn't see.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: this is so good.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: So what happens is the people that come on this show, you're reading the labor of their life.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_00]: And what they can be, I watch you do the one-on-one's in the hot seats, you're reading the labor of their life, you're reading their business, you tell them, you know, this is, I see what you can.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: What you doing your hot seats, I don't the prison.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: What you did for me around social media, I do the next man around
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: behavior.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about emotional connectivity because I could hear you, I could listen to you.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: What's happening to the person that you seem to not be able to break that wall?
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: Does that ever happen?
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that person.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: My God has been in any demon out there.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not coming with the Andre.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: See, I don't walk from
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: I was, God came and got me.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: My life is only explainable by God.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: You can't go from 105 years locked in the basement, sell with 80 tempted murders, so working at the White House and going to the Pentagon.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: I walked in the Pentagon last year.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: The most secure building in the world on invitation.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: I was just invited to go back to the Pentagon.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: There are people in the service for 20, 30 years never stepped foot in the Pentagon, but me the convicted felon.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: has been invited to the Pentagon for the second time.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna go.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna sip the people there.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna sit down and have rain, so with the most powerful miles on planet Earth, want to talk to the drain.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: So you're gonna explain that not cause I'm slick, I'm cool, I'm flying, I'm gonna ask stuff.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_00]: God's, and I'm gonna put you on places and places and spaces.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna tell them what I need you to tell them.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna show and manifest how great I am.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_00]: because you can't explain what I'm doing by no stress to the imagination without saying there's a God someplace somewhere.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: 25 $5 a speech?
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: Come on man, I never got dead on my best pickup.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- 42:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't pick them, they pick themselves.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't fire people, they fire themselves.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, so life, I met life through you.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: I came to you out of articulation, I met life, and we connected, we've been connected ever since.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_00]: He has that heart, that desire to want to help people.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: So all I had to do was show him how to do it in this space.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: because he wasn't familiar with the prison space.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I showed him how to move inside of a prison space.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing about life, he's a 21-year marine.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: Got to be sergeant, that man has been trained to do the things that he does at the highest level.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't need to teach him not to be scared.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's meant to every training you can imagine.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_00]: So veterans are phenomenal at coming inside because they've been trained at the highest level.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have fear or apprehension.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: They just need to know what they need to do and then to get it done.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: So veterans get it done.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: Then brothers who've been in the penitentiary, I want to go with Dre and if you was in there working in the kitchen and washing walls and I can't help you.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_00]: I need big done.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_00]: I need Rick.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: I need BX tone.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_00]: I need dunk.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: I need cheek.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: I need dudes who've been to someone when you walk in, people in the local people like Yari Spectum.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_02]: and back to life, what a, a master communicator.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_00]: Massive communicator.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: And when he talks, you can feel the lessons.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just listening.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_02]: Lessons.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: You could like feel something when he talks.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_00]: I just hear it.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: You don't mean?
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's great communicator.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: I made life.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he made himself.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: We have a company, second-changing diversity.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the founder.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: Ask me to present it is.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: Life?
- 44:13[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's how the life.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_00]: He earned that.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get to him.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: He did that.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: We got to brother out of New York.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: Just a gentleman January, be ex-toned.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's, he's a national director.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_00]: Not once, I know, don't do what me since I was 12.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not about how long I know him you.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a, I'll you the right person for this position.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: Man, how do you navigate through securing the contracts?
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: Is there something that you're doing outbound or is it more, you put in so much work people call you?
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: People call me.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: What happens is you're the park.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: I've been when you first out of park tested.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: I remember because I used to be, I see this here.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is great.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_00]: I see four people.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: I see all these cameras and these lights.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm a picture in the world, but I see this stuff.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_00]: I remember the first podcast we did.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_00]: We sat in two office chairs.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_00]: We had one camera, a little baby camera.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_00]: You ran behind and started it, ran back and sat next to me.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe 20 minutes, you had to get him to go hit it.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, yeah.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now here we are, five years later, you got your own building, you got a full staff, and you started out working.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: But it gave you this.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_00]: You worked your way to this.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: Say, run events, run your camera, run your own show, and you got a little staff, you got a little better, and you figure out what worked, what didn't, who worked, and who did.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: You weren't not friends with none of the people, but some people just didn't work out.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you kept moving, you kept shaking, and you kept going forward, falling and failing forward.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: Every God is what the people in the stands are saying who ain't playing, and you get it done.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now you got podcast on it, which I'm not spoken at.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta figure out why you can't get it.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: Which makes listen, that's true.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: No matter I get, I don't.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: You have a thing called podcast on it.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: I can call you and get on stage, but it'd be out of order, because I don't have a podcast.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be manipulated in our relationship.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never manipulate you.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll jokingly say I want to come but never follow up.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't have a podcast.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: If I say, I love you, you my man.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: I should actually do something that's going to violate what you're doing.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: Unless you have a role for something else other than a podcaster, then I shouldn't be on stage.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I've not been on that one stage for one podcast summer because I haven't earned it.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: Next I can't twist your arm and come at you.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't earned it.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to figure that out because I think some people need that.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: My parents came out.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_00]: I got 56 episodes.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: I was ready.

- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: I saw the George.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: 56 episodes.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be ready.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the first one.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's their space to add this conversation to me because the ability to like what you do with a prisoner.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's an art and a skill that needs to be taught.

- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: This is what the company's hired me for.
