- 0:05Speaker 1: Please make so much noise for the one and only
- 0:09Speaker 1: host of the Right Time podcast, Bomani Jones. And of course,
- 0:18Speaker 1: we can't have anything wave sports and entertainment related without
- 0:23Speaker 1: one of the great content.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Creators of our time.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And when I say he's a legend, he's a legend
- 0:27Speaker 1: in every sense of the word. The Bronx's own, the
- 0:31Speaker 1: living legend. You know him, you love him. Make some noise,
- 0:35Speaker 1: Las Vegas, for the one and only, the Kid Mero!
- 0:44Speaker 2: What's going on, big dog?
- 0:45Speaker 3: What's up, baby? Vegas, what's good?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Wow. You handled that tight-ass turn better than I did.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yo, fam.
- 0:52Speaker 4: My only thing for this whole show, don't fall down
- 0:55Speaker 4: on the way onto the stage.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Don't bust your ass. That shit is treacherous, bro.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Dude, I did a show for a couple years that
- 1:02Speaker 4: had a walk-in in front of a crowd, and my
- 1:04Speaker 4: whole thing the whole way was, just don't fall down.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Just don't bust your ass.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Because there's always wires and shit on the floor. There's
- 1:11Speaker 4: always something.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Tape.
- 1:12Speaker 4: And falling is always funny.
- 1:14Speaker 2: It's going to make motherfuckers laugh. Y'all know that Kelsey
- 1:17Speaker 2: Grammer viral video, you know what I'm saying, where he
- 1:19Speaker 2: just fell off the stage.
- 1:19Speaker 3: He's like, fuck, oh my God.
- 1:21Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:23Speaker 3: That lives with you forever.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm not that good at laughing at myself,
- 1:27Speaker 4: you know. Like, That's going to be, you fall down
- 1:30Speaker 4: and they catch it. That's you forever.
- 1:32Speaker 3: But you see what it is? You do it. It's like,
- 1:34Speaker 3: oh shit, Bo fell down. I do it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: They're like, yo, did he do that to get a laugh?
- 1:37Speaker 2: He's trying to be funny. This motherfucker just falling all
- 1:43Speaker 2: over the place.
- 1:43Speaker 1: No.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I'm 40 years old, bro.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I can't bust my ass for y'all to laugh, bro.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I'm not down bad like that.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Because it hurts too bad. It hurts way too much.
- 1:50Speaker 4: There was a time when you would have done that, though.
- 1:53Speaker 2: 100%.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Put the check in front of me, bro. I'm doing
- 1:55Speaker 4: a barrel roll in this motherfucker. So how many times
- 1:58Speaker 4: have you done Summer League?
- 2:00Speaker 2: This is the third one?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Second one? I smoke a lot, y'all. You know what
- 2:05Speaker 3: I'm saying?
- 2:05Speaker 2: So there's going to be a lot of questions that
- 2:06Speaker 2: are like, can you help me answer this? You're like,
- 2:10Speaker 2: I don't know you, fam. Why you phoning a friend?
- 2:13Speaker 2: We're not friends yet.
- 2:15Speaker 3: We got, okay, good.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So second and third, you know what I'm saying? But
- 2:18Speaker 2: what I will say about Vegas, I love Vegas. Because
- 2:21Speaker 2: I'm a degenerate gambler. But Yeah, shout out to Monday.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Who did that? The gentleman gambling, yeah. Who did that?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, listen.
- 2:30Speaker 2: That's how I feel inside when I hit on 15.
- 2:35Speaker 3: And it's like, Blackjack. I'm like, whoo, yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You ever seen a dude that's getting a double sake
- 2:40Speaker 2: in his mouth and his girl's looking at him questioningly?
- 2:42Speaker 3: You know what I mean? That's me at the back.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Yay!
- 2:45Speaker 2: Blackjack.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I was playing Blackjack today with a current NBA point
- 2:51Speaker 4: guard and that was a poor decision maker. There's no
- 2:56Speaker 4: way in the world that I would have trusted my
- 2:57Speaker 4: offense to do with the moves that he was making.
- 2:59Speaker 2: There's none whatsoever.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Like the risk calculus was so bad at every turn.
- 3:05Speaker 4: And then the best part was he was trying to
- 3:08Speaker 4: act like he was not an NBA player.
- 3:11Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So you're about 6'5. It's summer league.
- 3:15Speaker 4: And look, There's a lot of dudes that are 6'5
- 3:17Speaker 4: walking around here this week that are not NBA players.
- 3:21Speaker 4: They play in the NBA Summer League, which is not
- 3:23Speaker 4: the same thing. Those dudes, however, do not have all.
- 3:27Speaker 2: $ 100, 000 chains.
- 3:27Speaker 4: No. And so he's sitting there and he's playing. And
- 3:31Speaker 4: I feel like he's trying to lay low, but I
- 3:33Speaker 4: had something to say to him. So I try to
- 3:35Speaker 4: say it in some sort of code. And somehow this
- 3:37Speaker 4: is working. And the white people did not realize that
- 3:39Speaker 4: he was an NBA basketball player. But the whole way,
- 3:42Speaker 4: I'm like, you can't possibly think you're fooling anybody right now.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Listen, bro, being that height, that's the thing about the NBA. Like,
- 3:50Speaker 2: if you're a basketball player, good luck blending in, bro.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Right.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Unless you're in the backcourt.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Right.
- 3:55Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Like, if you're 6'8, you can't blend in no fucking where.
- 3:58Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 3:59Speaker 4: Your hope is what happened with us when we were
- 4:01Speaker 4: walking in earlier and Rudy Gay was walking out as
- 4:04Speaker 4: we were walking in. And I did not realize it
- 4:06Speaker 4: was Rudy Gay because I wasn't looking up. It was
- 4:09Speaker 4: like somebody had cut the camera off. And it was
- 4:11Speaker 4: just like, oh, what's up? Oh, damn, was that Rudy Gay?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yo, what's up, nipples?
- 4:13Speaker 4: And I had to apologize for it because it felt
- 4:15Speaker 4: like I was rude. But it's like when you walk
- 4:16Speaker 4: down 34th Street and you don't know you walked past
- 4:18Speaker 4: the Empire State Building because the motherfucker's right there.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Right, like unless you're doing that.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Oh, shit, the Mets won.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Right, but this whole two-week period is like basketball road
- 4:29Speaker 4: trip bingo. you just see all these faces and all
- 4:33Speaker 4: these names that you have forgotten about. I saw Sleepy
- 4:36Speaker 4: Floyd walking through a casino today. And every time I
- 4:42Speaker 4: see Sleepy Floyd, my brother has a friend who was
- 4:45Speaker 4: a basketball player of his era. and he has some
- 4:48Speaker 4: dispute with Sleepy Floyd that has led to him calling
- 4:51Speaker 4: him Creepy Floyd for the last 40 years.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So I'm like, Creepy.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yo, Creepy.
- 4:55Speaker 2: He can't stand Creepy.
- 4:57Speaker 4: And it has nothing to do with how Sleepy Floyd looks.
- 4:59Speaker 4: He just had some beef with Sleepy Floyd. And it
- 5:02Speaker 4: took everything in me not to scream out Creepy.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Creepy. Yo, Creepy.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Creepy would have whooped my ass. What up?
- 5:07Speaker 4: Can you imagine some dude that doesn't know you, that's
- 5:10Speaker 4: not actually your friend, just calling you Creepy in public,
- 5:12Speaker 4: thinking it's cute?
- 5:15Speaker 2: Fam, listen, what's going to happen after that is going
- 5:18Speaker 2: to end up on a lot of different blogs.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Jason Lee's going to be talking about this shit. Yes.
- 5:22Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Yes.
- 5:23Speaker 4: But, like, I saw Joel Anthony at the Park MGM yesterday.
- 5:26Speaker 3: God damn.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Who has thought of that? Who has, like, thought of
- 5:29Speaker 4: Joel Anthony?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Name a random. But that's who you see at Summer League.
- 5:33Speaker 4: You just have a whole bunch of, like, you try
- 5:34Speaker 4: not to stare, but you try to figure out who
- 5:36Speaker 4: this person is.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yo, nigga, look. This is Ronnie Turiaz. Yeah, yeah. Right, right.
- 5:39Speaker 4: They're all, like, this is basketball family reunion. It is
- 5:43Speaker 4: like the best part of this weekend.
- 5:45Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, it's because you see people, like you said,
- 5:48Speaker 2: that are on the cusp of being an NBA player. Like, yo,
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm on the summer league. I'm on the practice squad.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And then you see motherfuckers that have commercials.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Trying to blend in with the common folk.
- 5:59Speaker 4: And number three, which is, and I've heard people talk
- 6:02Speaker 4: about this many times, that when the guys come in
- 6:05Speaker 4: for summer league, they give you, in many cases, their
- 6:08Speaker 4: per diem up front. And the lecture is given to
- 6:12Speaker 4: these very young men This is your whole entire per diem.
- 6:15Speaker 4: If you spend it all now, you're not going to
- 6:17Speaker 4: have any money to eat, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah.
- 6:19Speaker 4: And of course, invariably, there's somebody who messes up and
- 6:22Speaker 4: blows the whole thing. But I was sitting at a table, man,
- 6:26Speaker 4: this was a couple of years ago. And I watched
- 6:28Speaker 4: this dude. He had to be no more than 22
- 6:30Speaker 4: years old. And he definitely put his literal last $ 25
- 6:37Speaker 4: on the table to play one single solitary hand of blackjack.
- 6:42Speaker 4: and it was not a crispy 20 that he pulled out.
- 6:45Speaker 4: That thing had been through the laundry, it had made
- 6:47Speaker 4: some moves, and I'm watching him as he puts this
- 6:50Speaker 4: money down and he asks for this chip, and I'm
- 6:52Speaker 4: looking at the dealer like, come on, man, you can't
- 6:53Speaker 4: do this.
- 6:54Speaker 2: There's no way in the world. He was at the
- 6:57Speaker 2: table for 15 seconds, tops.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But he just felt like, hey man, I'm in Las Vegas,
- 7:02Speaker 4: I'm an NBA player for a couple of days, and
- 7:05Speaker 4: he had $ 25 worth of fun. And $ 25 worth of
- 7:06Speaker 4: fun in Las Vegas is no fun. It's not fun
- 7:08Speaker 4: at all.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Also, I'm over here ready to judge, but I'm like, yo,
- 7:15Speaker 2: you give a 20-year-old Mero talking about, yo, here's a
- 7:17Speaker 2: couple Gs, here's your per diem, don't blow it all
- 7:20Speaker 2: at once.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Bro, you know how much atmosphere models there is out here?
- 7:24Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? And y'all are like, what
- 7:27Speaker 2: the fuck? Atmosphere models, what is that? That's prostitution, y'all.
- 7:32Speaker 2: They out here selling pussy. You know what I'm saying?
- 7:35Speaker 2: At an alarming rate. You know what I'm saying? It's crazy,
- 7:38Speaker 2: god damn, bro. I'm just walking through the casino like, shit,
- 7:42Speaker 2: I just wanna play three card poker, bro. I don't
- 7:44Speaker 2: want you to feed me a cigarette. Yeah, that's a
- 7:47Speaker 2: whole nother Vegas game.
- 7:50Speaker 4: The dudes who come to Vegas and think they just
- 7:53Speaker 4: had the luckiest night of their lives only to be
- 7:56Speaker 4: hit with an invoice.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Oh, you thought Shady was hanging around with you? No,
- 8:02Speaker 2: because you was on a roll at the blackjack table.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That's why, stupid. Yeah, yeah. Oh, you thought you was cute.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. This is just a fantasy. Don't worry about it, Papi. Like, yo.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Listen, man. Let me not get myself in trouble. Yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 2: but no, but this is.
- 8:20Speaker 4: It is also the hottest place I've ever been in
- 8:21Speaker 4: my life.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I grew up in Houston. Dog, it's disgusting.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Bo, it's disgusting. You're from Texas. You have experience with heat. Yes.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I'm Dominican.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I got experience with heat, humidity, and shit like that.
- 8:32Speaker 2: But I'm like, fam, this is different. This is like
- 8:34Speaker 2: open the oven and just put your head in that shit.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:37Speaker 3: You know what I mean? There's no air movement.
- 8:39Speaker 4: But see, I also think that that's part of why
- 8:41Speaker 4: it becomes such a basketball fan reunion, because you can
- 8:44Speaker 4: get a good deal on a hotel.
- 8:46Speaker 2: This week, right?
- 8:47Speaker 4: Like, if you are a basketball type and you need
- 8:50Speaker 4: an excuse to come to Las Vegas and you would
- 8:52Speaker 4: like to do it at a more affordable price, Summer
- 8:55Speaker 4: League is here for you.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Let's make it happen. Yo, I'm 6'5. I can go left.
- 9:00Speaker 5: Yes.
- 9:00Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Let's go, baby.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Well, I will tell you, I don't know if you
- 9:04Speaker 4: would peep this, but another fascinating Summer League demographic is,
- 9:09Speaker 4: and this is becoming more and more of a thing
- 9:11Speaker 4: in the last 10 or 15 years, which.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Is the NBA dad.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 9:16Speaker 2: The NBA dad is all over.
- 9:17Speaker 4: I pulled up one year, me and Mike Smith, we
- 9:19Speaker 4: were over there at Thomas & Mac, and I'm going
- 9:22Speaker 4: to use, like, just throw a name out here so
- 9:25Speaker 4: as not to expose the dude.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And this dude comes up to me, he's probably.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I want to say that he's, like, fairly, like, older,
- 9:32Speaker 4: except all these guys' dads are my age now.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So I can't really say that anymore. It's like, man,
- 9:37Speaker 2: he must have been, like, 47. Ooh.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Feel as old as he used to. But he stopped
- 9:42Speaker 4: and he says to me, he just looks at me
- 9:43Speaker 4: and he goes.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I'm Jamal's daddy.
- 9:46Speaker 3: All right.
- 9:51Speaker 4: What is this supposed to mean to me? Who is Jamal,
- 9:55Speaker 4: first of all? Well, no, this is a fictional. Jamal
- 9:58Speaker 4: is not the actual, like we're not, it's not. the
- 10:00Speaker 4: actual Jamal. But if he said this, I don't give
- 10:02Speaker 4: a fuck what your name is, dog.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Right, right. Unless your name is whatever Prince used to
- 10:05Speaker 2: go by. There's a lot of those guys in this world.
- 10:09Speaker 4: But he said it to me, and I think he
- 10:11Speaker 4: said it to me like I was going to be like, oh,
- 10:12Speaker 4: hell yeah, that's what's up.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Like, no, we're not talking about an all-star.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Right?
- 10:16Speaker 4: Like, this wasn't like when I met Zion's daddy.
- 10:18Speaker 2: He said, I'm Zion's daddy. Oh, okay.
- 10:21Speaker 4: And it was 2019, so that was a lot cooler
- 10:23Speaker 4: back then than it was right now, right?
- 10:25Speaker 2: But that checked out. Like, oh shit, Zion's daddy. Oh,
- 10:29Speaker 2: he's about to pull up? Sure, I would love to
- 10:31Speaker 2: meet him.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Tell him to watch out for the atmosphere models.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Tell him to be careful. Keep your head on a swivel.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Actually, the more I think about this, the idea of
- 10:40Speaker 4: having Summer League here is really not a great idea.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, why here? It's not a great idea.
- 10:45Speaker 3: It's in Wyoming. You want to keep niggas out of trouble, bro.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Is there anybody following the big Chinese gentleman for the
- 10:52Speaker 4: trailblazers around?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Have you seen him? The Chinese yoga? Oh, man.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I feel like you don't got to follow him around
- 10:58Speaker 3: because he follows himself around. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:00Speaker 4: I'm just saying I would watch the documentary of my
- 11:03Speaker 4: first trip to Vegas.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I thought you meant like a handler. Like, you're going
- 11:05Speaker 3: to while out at the pool.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Yeah, no, but I just want to see him walking
- 11:09Speaker 4: around here and how he takes all of this in.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I was here when Victor had his first one, and
- 11:14Speaker 4: in fact, I did not see it, but when he
- 11:16Speaker 4: had the thing with Britney Spears, when she rolled up
- 11:18Speaker 4: on him and it got ugly, I was in the
- 11:20Speaker 4: hotel like right around the same time that that happened,
- 11:22Speaker 4: and I am so mad I did not see that
- 11:24Speaker 4: with my own eyes.
- 11:25Speaker 3: He probably turned around, and that's the thing, when you
- 11:27Speaker 3: that tall.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Your eye line is very different from everybody else's.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Him and Britney Spears are different. She was looking at
- 11:36Speaker 3: his foreskin.
- 11:37Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? She was like, yo, what's up?
- 11:40Speaker 3: Victor and the Wimbayama. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:44Speaker 2: That's different.
- 11:44Speaker 3: And also, she might have been awesome. You know what
- 11:46Speaker 3: I mean?
- 11:47Speaker 2: Because everybody in Vegas is awesome. Not except me. I'm
- 11:50Speaker 2: sober right now. I'm waiting until after the show. It's
- 11:53Speaker 2: very consummate professionals.
- 11:55Speaker 4: I just did not understand how anybody as famous as
- 11:58Speaker 4: she was thought to herself, I'm going to go run
- 12:02Speaker 4: that dude down from behind. This guy that is surrounded
- 12:07Speaker 4: by security, right? What's the worst thing that could possibly happen?
- 12:11Speaker 4: Especially if you haven't been that famous in a long time.
- 12:14Speaker 4: 1999 Britney Spears could probably get away with that, right?
- 12:18Speaker 4: 2023 Britney Spears, you call the cops.
- 12:22Speaker 2: That's a different Britney. It's a different animal. Also, Victor
- 12:25Speaker 2: was probably born when she was doing music videos.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't like to think about those sorts of things.
- 12:31Speaker 4: I've been looking at these birth years for these gentlemen
- 12:34Speaker 4: that are coming into the league.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Oh.
- 12:36Speaker 2: You was born, okay, dog, I was smoking a blunt
- 12:39Speaker 2: on my roof watching 9-11. You was being born.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Right, so it was one thing when it was like,
- 12:43Speaker 4: when you would say that, or like, oh, I was
- 12:44Speaker 4: in the eighth grade, or oh, da-da-da, and this is
- 12:46Speaker 4: when I look down and I'm like, I bought a
- 12:49Speaker 4: house that year. You know, like, the things become so
- 12:53Speaker 4: much more concrete. Like, and I don't really, every time
- 12:57Speaker 4: I see, like, a young dude make a mistake, I'm
- 13:00Speaker 4: much more, I want to start sentences with phrases like
- 13:03Speaker 4: young man.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Come on. Right?
- 13:05Speaker 4: Like, I'm not in a position to be as judgmental
- 13:07Speaker 4: as I used to be. I'm much more delicate.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Fam, having kids did that to me. Like, now I'm like,
- 13:11Speaker 3: all right, bro, I can't. All right, man. Listen, bro,
- 13:14Speaker 3: if you 14 now, like, I started smoking weed at 13, so.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Ipso facto, I'd be a hypocrite if I told you.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I just try to make the shit look as uncool
- 13:23Speaker 2: as possible because kids never think they dad is cool.
- 13:25Speaker 2: So I'd just be like, yo, I smoke mad weed.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Ah!
- 13:28Speaker 2: Ah! In his face.
- 13:29Speaker 3: He's just like, damn. Calm down, bro.
- 13:31Speaker 2: You hit him with the ipso facto. Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 4: No, this is true NBA story. I went to Houston
- 13:36Speaker 4: this year because Bun B does.
- 13:38Speaker 2: His ninth rodeo, right?
- 13:39Speaker 4: And so I went and I got a room at
- 13:42Speaker 4: the Post Oak, the owner of the Rockets.
- 13:43Speaker 2: That's his hotel.
- 13:44Speaker 4: So I am assuming that through that contact is why
- 13:47Speaker 4: NBA teams, when they come to Houston, they stay at
- 13:49Speaker 4: the Four Seasons or they stay there. And so the
- 13:51Speaker 4: Pelicans were playing a game that night, and they were
- 13:54Speaker 4: staying there. I'm in the lobby. Trey Murphy walks in.
- 13:56Speaker 4: I had done some TV with him before, so I
- 14:00Speaker 4: stopped and I talked to him.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Okay, cool.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Fast forward a couple months. I see him somewhere else.
- 14:05Speaker 4: He sees me, and he does this shit.
- 14:07Speaker 3: What's going on, Unc?
- 14:08Speaker 2: And I'm like, hey, man. Hey, hey, hey.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Because my issue with Unc is very simple. Perhaps it
- 14:14Speaker 4: is affectionate, but it comes with no respect. I feel
- 14:18Speaker 4: like I've earned this respect at this point. Whatever happened
- 14:21Speaker 4: to sir?
- 14:22Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Sir is Chris Elbow. Come on. No.
- 14:25Speaker 3: That's the southern gentleman in you.
- 14:27Speaker 4: I put in the work. I should get some sirs, right?
- 14:30Speaker 4: So he hits me with unk, and I try to
- 14:32Speaker 4: have a discussion about unk. He then tells me that
- 14:36Speaker 4: that day somebody saw him, talked to me, and stopped
- 14:39Speaker 4: and asked, and I quote, is that your dad? The
- 14:44Speaker 4: problem is I did the mathematics, and that was certainly
- 14:49Speaker 4: on the board.
- 14:49Speaker 2: You were like, uh, I was fucking. This was possible. Right.
- 14:56Speaker 2: In this era of my life, I was fucking.
- 14:59Speaker 4: But it would not have even required me to have
- 15:01Speaker 4: made a life-altering mistake.
- 15:03Speaker 2: It was on board. This was planned fucking. Right, right.
- 15:07Speaker 2: This was organized fucking.
- 15:09Speaker 4: It was perfectly reasonable that that could have been the case, right?
- 15:13Speaker 2: He's like, that was Bomani. And I'm like, damn, man.
- 15:16Speaker 2: This is where we are.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Bruh.
- 15:18Speaker 2: It's like Matthew McConaughey said in that fucking movie. They
- 15:24Speaker 2: stay 17, we get older. You know what I'm saying?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Everybody comes into the league.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Yeah, let's take that up a little higher to 17, buddy.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Let's get to something a little bit more comfortable.
- 15:36Speaker 3: 25?
- 15:36Speaker 2: Hey, that's way better. That's way, way, way, way. Depends
- 15:41Speaker 2: on how old you are. You know what I'm saying?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Because we've seen some football guys. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. No,
- 15:49Speaker 2: we're not. Yeah, okay.
- 15:50Speaker 4: I'm going to change the subject very quickly. Now, I
- 15:53Speaker 4: wanted to ask you about something because you and I,
- 15:56Speaker 4: we had a discussion on my podcast.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I guess this was about.
- 16:00Speaker 4: I guess it's a long time now, when GNX came out.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:03Speaker 4: And we were trying to explain to the youngsters what
- 16:06Speaker 4: mid actually is because they don't know what mid is
- 16:09Speaker 4: because they've never seen a seed in their lives. So
- 16:12Speaker 4: they have been told that mid means something is bad
- 16:14Speaker 4: when no, mid is perfectly serviceable and it'll get you high.
- 16:19Speaker 2: That's it. Right? Like that's the sentence.
- 16:20Speaker 4: That would explain mid that would justify that $ 30 eighth
- 16:24Speaker 4: that you purchased. It'll get you high. But there's nothing
- 16:27Speaker 4: wrong with it.
- 16:28Speaker 2: It's just fine.
- 16:29Speaker 4: So I don't know if you have been celebrating Clipsmas
- 16:33Speaker 4: with the rest of the internet over the last... See,
- 16:36Speaker 4: couldn't even finish my goddamn sentence.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Right? Couldn't even get to it, right?
- 16:43Speaker 3: Clipsmas is crazy.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Oh, no, it's been Clipsmas. It has been. They're loving it.
- 16:48Speaker 4: But there's certain groups and certain acts where the people
- 16:53Speaker 4: who love them will just go up in a very,
- 16:55Speaker 4: very particular way and they're the loudest and nothing else.
- 16:58Speaker 4: will be a substitute for them. And Clips is one
- 17:01Speaker 4: of them, right? Malice came back to get out there.
- 17:04Speaker 4: They're very happy about these things.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Okay, cool.
- 17:07Speaker 3: He don't curse a lot.
- 17:09Speaker 2: No. I thought it was good. Yeah. It's very good.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Can we normalize saying things.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Are good again? Because good has become an insult. Please, y'all.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Look, camera. Please, America. Good means good.
- 17:23Speaker 2: It was good.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Very good means very good. Y'all want everything to be
- 17:27Speaker 3: classic or garbage, bro. And that is an impossible fucking binary, gang.
- 17:33Speaker 2: It was good.
- 17:34Speaker 3: On the spectrum, it was very fucking good.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Okay?
- 17:37Speaker 3: Y'all calling it thriller. Relax.
- 17:40Speaker 4: This is what it was. Stacking with a basketball analogy.
- 17:44Speaker 4: If you've ever watched a very good basketball player who
- 17:47Speaker 4: can always get to their spots and make their shot,
- 17:50Speaker 4: every possession... They would wind up with the ball right
- 17:54Speaker 4: there at the elbow. They know exactly what to do
- 17:56Speaker 4: from the elbow, and they make that elbow jumper. And
- 17:59Speaker 4: the elbow jumper is effective. But I don't need to
- 18:03Speaker 4: watch you make 12 elbow jumpers.
- 18:06Speaker 2: This game's only 48 minutes.
- 18:08Speaker 4: But if you root for their team, you don't care
- 18:11Speaker 4: how they made the shots. You're like, yo, 12 elbow
- 18:14Speaker 4: jumpers in a row. Fuck it. But if you don't
- 18:17Speaker 4: have the jersey on, it's just kind of like, ah,
- 18:19Speaker 4: I might want a little more razzle dazzle.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yo, take it to the rack. Right, right. Could you
- 18:23Speaker 2: dunk on a couple of people?
- 18:24Speaker 3: Please?
- 18:25Speaker 2: That was how I felt about it.
- 18:26Speaker 3: They got two white guys on the team. Pick one.
- 18:28Speaker 4: But the whole week, I have basically felt like, what
- 18:31Speaker 4: it has to be like if you don't celebrate Christmas.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Ugh.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Right, but everybody else does. They are excited. They are
- 18:40Speaker 4: loving it. You are going to get Chinese food.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I got the pan fried wontons ready, baby.
- 18:48Speaker 4: That was where I was the whole week.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yo, I feel you, man, because it's like, if you
- 18:53Speaker 2: don't jump on a hype train of something immediately, it's.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Like, oh, you hating on this shit? Yo, you think
- 18:59Speaker 3: it's whack?
- 18:59Speaker 2: It's like the fucking pancakes waffle tweet. Like, yo, dog,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I enjoy this a lot. I love cocaine rap. You
- 19:06Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? I'm from New York. Like, come on.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I love cocaine rap. But like you said, bro, like,
- 19:10Speaker 2: all right, bro, after the cocaine rap, let me get
- 19:13Speaker 2: like some, let me get like a little, I don't know,
- 19:16Speaker 2: a little misogyny in my rap or something. You know
- 19:18Speaker 2: what I'm saying? A little something different. Maybe not misogyny, guys. Okay?
- 19:23Speaker 2: But that was the best part about Drake.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Introspection.
- 19:25Speaker 4: But the best part about Drake falling off is we
- 19:27Speaker 4: had one less person that we had to worry about
- 19:29Speaker 4: when it comes to these things.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Right?
- 19:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:33Speaker 2: You think? That motherfucker, he's in Mexico right now learning corridos.
- 19:38Speaker 2: He's about to come out with peso pluma. It's going
- 19:42Speaker 2: to be a real hot August.
- 19:44Speaker 4: I'm trying to think, and I consider myself to be
- 19:47Speaker 4: a fairly honest person, so I don't have that long
- 19:49Speaker 4: a list of things that I can say. But I'm
- 19:51Speaker 4: trying to think of any time in my life that
- 19:53Speaker 4: I would have felt compelled to stand in front of
- 19:55Speaker 4: thousands of people and tell a bigger lie than that.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Dude did when he tried to.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Talk about how the British rappers were the best rappers
- 20:02Speaker 4: in the world.
- 20:03Speaker 2: They don't even believe that shit. I can't do that, mate.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I'm not better, mate. I'm not better.
- 20:10Speaker 3: A rap song in the Bronx, mate. I can't even
- 20:14Speaker 3: spell Bronx.
- 20:18Speaker 5: I don't know why Mick Jagger is better at sounding
- 20:21Speaker 5: like a black person than they are. Like, there are
- 20:24Speaker 5: decades of British white people doing black cosplay far more convincingly.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Damn. And the shit that kills me is like, they'll
- 20:31Speaker 2: never do the interview, and it's like, you know, an alleyway,
- 20:34Speaker 2: like Skepta in an alleyway, like, you know what I mean? Like,
- 20:37Speaker 2: smack DVD style, like, Matt goes around, he's like, well, bruv,
- 20:40Speaker 2: the problem is that we have proper lyrics. Exactly. We
- 20:44Speaker 2: have proper lyrics and proper instrumentals, ain't it, mate? And
- 20:46Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, none of this is intimidating or scary
- 20:49Speaker 2: at all. Like, I listen to fucking Migos talk, bro,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and I'm like, you from Atlanta, I'm from the Bronx.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I'm like, I understand half of that. And since I
- 20:57Speaker 2: don't understand half of it, I'm frightened.
- 21:00Speaker 4: But my thing with the British dudes is, and we
- 21:01Speaker 4: were talking about this upstairs, and I listened to y'all,
- 21:04Speaker 4: and y'all were going back and forth with, I like
- 21:06Speaker 4: this one, I don't like this one. I'm not getting
- 21:08Speaker 4: far enough in this process to learn these motherfuckers' names.
- 21:12Speaker 2: They are all the same person to me.
- 21:14Speaker 4: I remember, what was the one from back, Dizzy Rascal.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I remember him.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Dizzy Rascal and Slick Rick. Dizzy Rascal and Slick Rick.
- 21:21Speaker 4: That's who I got. I don't know who any of
- 21:23Speaker 4: these new people are. Bro, you better. So, like, I
- 21:28Speaker 4: didn't go to church growing up, right? And one of
- 21:31Speaker 4: the great joys I used to always get is if
- 21:32Speaker 4: my dad had to speak at a funeral and he
- 21:35Speaker 4: would act like he was down, right? Like he would
- 21:38Speaker 4: dial it up and figure out how to do it.
- 21:39Speaker 4: And I was like, it wasn't quite lying, but he
- 21:41Speaker 4: definitely wasn't telling the truth. I felt like that was
- 21:44Speaker 4: the kind of lie they drank. That man would need
- 21:45Speaker 4: a friend so bad.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Fam, that's what happens when everybody's telling you you're the
- 21:49Speaker 2: man for a decade plus. Yes.
- 21:51Speaker 3: And you believe it. Yes. You know what I mean?
- 21:53Speaker 3: You're just like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, hell yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Tell me I'm the man again.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I should put berets on my hair. It's going to
- 21:59Speaker 3: look fly.
- 21:59Speaker 4: So is that your way of saying that perhaps LeBron
- 22:03Speaker 4: going to turn up saying that the greatest, a very
- 22:06Speaker 4: similar situation because I feel like he's going through the
- 22:08Speaker 4: same thing right now?
- 22:09Speaker 3: Central C is the best MC ever. It's the best
- 22:11Speaker 3: rapper of all time.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Dude, the Lakers told LeBron, no, we're good. Imagine that, bro.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Imagine being LeBron and somebody being like, we're good. Not
- 22:25Speaker 2: even using a lot of words, just being like. You
- 22:27Speaker 2: don't have to.
- 22:28Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Just leave it. Just leave it.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Just leave it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Just leave it. You know, he's like trying to help motherfuckers. Like, yo,
- 22:32Speaker 2: I'll clean. I'll help you clean. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 22:34Speaker 4: It's okay.
- 22:34Speaker 3: You can just go.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Hold up. While he's still good. Right.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Right?
- 22:38Speaker 2: Like, it's not like he fell off and it's just like, okay,
- 22:40Speaker 2: we're going to do this tour. We're going to get
- 22:41Speaker 2: these gifts or whatever it was. They're just like, eh. Nah. Yo, listen.
- 22:46Speaker 2: We got Slovenian brawn. Yo. Like, we're good. Yo. Like,
- 22:49Speaker 2: we don't need, you don't gotta. He's going to show up.
- 22:53Speaker 2: And it's going to.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Be so passive-aggressive for.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Because he can't say, I want to leave. Nope. He
- 23:01Speaker 2: can't show up and act a fool. All he can
- 23:04Speaker 2: do is be snippy.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Listen, if anybody in the NBA could be snippy... Yes.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Uh-huh. Yes. Uh-huh. He's going to be like, talking to reporters. Well, anyway.
- 23:16Speaker 3: So.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Dave's talking about, like, they want me to go, but, like,
- 23:21Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, why are you talking about my cousin Yesenia, bro? Like,
- 23:24Speaker 2: what the fuck?
- 23:25Speaker 3: You're very sassy to these reporters, bro.
- 23:28Speaker 4: All right, so I have to ask you this before
- 23:29Speaker 4: we get out of here, because you and I have
- 23:31Speaker 4: not talked about the Knicks since the series ended.
- 23:36Speaker 2: So how certain are.
- 23:38Speaker 4: You that they're going to win the East next year?
- 23:44Speaker 2: Oh, 100%. 100%. 100%. 1,000%. And I'm not even saying
- 23:46Speaker 2: that because of the way the Knicks are constructed. I'm
- 23:49Speaker 2: saying that because of the way the human Achilles tendon
- 23:52Speaker 2: is constructed.
- 23:53Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:55Speaker 2: And there's a lot of Achilles that are going to
- 23:57Speaker 2: be out of the NBA Easter Conference next year. Jason Tatum,
- 24:00Speaker 2: Tyrese Halliburton, which are the dudes that was the thorns
- 24:03Speaker 2: of the Knicks side. Yes.
- 24:04Speaker 3: So, dames, shot the dame. You know what I'm saying? Like,
- 24:08Speaker 3: it's a lot of Achilles.
- 24:09Speaker 2: That's not going to be.
- 24:11Speaker 3: On next year.
- 24:12Speaker 4: I can't wait for this. I lived in New York
- 24:14Speaker 4: for eight years. The Knicks have only been good very recently.
- 24:17Speaker 4: It is a much happier place to live when the
- 24:19Speaker 4: Knicks are good. You feel better. My first few, I mean,
- 24:22Speaker 4: MCASters just pull up on me so sad, like, you
- 24:24Speaker 4: got any good news for me about the Knicks?
- 24:26Speaker 1: None.
- 24:26Speaker 3: None.
- 24:27Speaker 2: None, right?
- 24:28Speaker 3: Never.
- 24:29Speaker 4: And now you guys have skipped completely past appreciation, completely past.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Gratitude, and All ready to demanding. Demanding.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Just in time for the black man to show up
- 24:40Speaker 4: as the head coach.
- 24:42Speaker 2: We ready. Yo, listen. Knicks fans went from Mets fans
- 24:45Speaker 2: to Yankee fans overnight.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Overnight. You know what I'm saying? All it took was
- 24:49Speaker 3: Jalen Brunson's stud-built ass. You know what I'm saying? Skin
- 24:52Speaker 3: in the paint.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Counter, counter, counter, counter, counter. You know what I'm saying?
- 24:55Speaker 2: That's it. And then they were like, yo, you know
- 24:57Speaker 2: what we're going to do? We're going to get a
- 24:58Speaker 2: seven-foot-tall Dominican dude that can shoot. Like, what is the
- 25:01Speaker 2: best place to put that dude? New York City? Like,
- 25:04Speaker 2: come on, dog. He's got a fish fry on Dykeman
- 25:07Speaker 2: right now. He's flying in.
- 25:08Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:10Speaker 2: It's incredible, dog. So, like, yeah, I'm demanding of the
- 25:13Speaker 2: Knicks now. Like, before, it was like, yo, we happy
- 25:15Speaker 2: to be here. Now it's like, yo, y'all better win
- 25:17Speaker 2: this shit.
- 25:18Speaker 4: I have come, living in New York, I've come to
- 25:19Speaker 4: appreciate you guys a lot more. As I've told you before,
- 25:22Speaker 4: New York does not send its best representatives to the
- 25:25Speaker 4: rest of the world. Right, like the people that you
- 25:27Speaker 4: send us in other cities really be doing.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Y'all a disservice.
- 25:31Speaker 4: You have to understand this. Like you get to New York,
- 25:34Speaker 4: you're like, yo, it ain't really that bad, right?
- 25:37Speaker 2: But the one guy from New York in your town
- 25:39Speaker 2: is always like, yo, this shit is fucking wack.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Oh, y'all gamble? Yo, this shit is wack. Yo, y'all
- 25:46Speaker 2: never been to Yonkers? Vegas is all right. Yonkers, Yonkers. Yo, no, no, no,
- 25:50Speaker 2: y'all laughing. Yonkers got this shit, but it's digital. It's
- 25:54Speaker 2: way more futuristic, bro. I don't got to deal with
- 25:55Speaker 2: these fucking ladies, you know what I'm saying, talking about, yo,
- 25:58Speaker 2: I'm the pit boss. Fuck out of here.
- 25:59Speaker 4: But my favorite thing in college with it was, it
- 26:02Speaker 4: was just like, why y'all just be outside all the time?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Outside, bro.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Like, just inexplicably, it's 75 degrees outside.
- 26:09Speaker 2: You have on a coat, and you're outside for no reason.
- 26:13Speaker 2: We invented we outside.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? You know what it is?
- 26:17Speaker 3: It get hot as fuck in those apartments, bro. I
- 26:18Speaker 3: understand it now.
- 26:20Speaker 2: It's 75 outside. In the apartment, it's 98,000-ass degrees.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 26:25Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 26:25Speaker 4: I understand it now.
- 26:26Speaker 3: So we all got to be outside.
- 26:27Speaker 4: But they was doing it when they wasn't in that
- 26:29Speaker 4: apartment no more. Like, all the weirdos you send out.
- 26:32Speaker 4: But I've come to understand you guys are cooler in
- 26:34Speaker 4: actual application. Comma, however, if the Knicks are not good,
- 26:40Speaker 4: it's going to be so funny. It's going to be
- 26:45Speaker 4: hilarious for me. I'm going to be calling Kaz up
- 26:48Speaker 4: all the time just to talk about the Knicks. And
- 26:51Speaker 4: when you call Kaz up and mess with him, he
- 26:53Speaker 4: starts off, first of all.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Fuck you.
- 26:57Speaker 4: That is the beginning of this. Like, calling Knicks fans
- 27:00Speaker 4: is going to be so great.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Oh, man. Bo, just text me. You know what I'm saying?
- 27:04Speaker 4: Y'all fired the coach after going to the conference finals.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Hey, hey, I can't answer for that.
- 27:12Speaker 4: I'm just, you don't have to answer for it. I'm
- 27:14Speaker 4: just telling you, I know what this means. It's going
- 27:18Speaker 4: to be hilarious. And then next year, we're going to
- 27:20Speaker 4: come right back to Summer League, have the same exact conversation,
- 27:24Speaker 4: me and you, right here, as we watch Popeye Jones
- 27:28Speaker 4: walk past us at some casino.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Popeye, shut the.
