Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The drug that's made the Hollywood celebrities skinny and looking
- 0:03Speaker 1: fabulous again is coming to New Zealand. The ozempic style
- 0:06Speaker 1: weight loss drug Waygovy will be available here from Tuesday.
- 0:10Speaker 1: To get it, though, you're going to need a prescription
- 0:12Speaker 1: from your doctor. Sarah Kennedy is the CEO of Callo
- 0:16Speaker 1: curb And is that a US conference right now in
- 0:18Speaker 1: Las Vegas apparently for ozempic and is with us on
- 0:21Speaker 1: the phone, Sarah, good morning, Hi Ryan, how I'm good things.
- 0:25Speaker 1: What do you do at an ozempic conference? Do they
- 0:27Speaker 1: feed you?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Well, it's not actually an o Zimpic conference. It's the
- 0:32Speaker 2: largest esthetic show in America, so out there they have
- 0:36Speaker 2: everything there, but weight management is a key part of it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: They have a lot of medi spars that go so yeah,
- 0:43Speaker 2: we're part of that.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Right. Is there much demand? Do you think there's going
- 0:47Speaker 1: to be a lot of demand for waygov in New Zealand?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Well, if it follows the US, yes, over twelve percent,
- 0:58Speaker 2: over twelve percent of the Marria can have either been
- 1:01Speaker 2: on or are on. We're go v now. So it's
- 1:05Speaker 2: massive growth here and yeah, it's a household name.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Cost is also massive though apparently four hundred and forty
- 1:13Speaker 1: dollars and six hundred dollars for a pack of five pens. Apparently,
- 1:19Speaker 1: is this going to be a p Is it going
- 1:20Speaker 1: to be in reach for the people who might need
- 1:22Speaker 1: it most?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Well, it is expensive and in fact in the US
- 1:29Speaker 2: for that pack it's about a thousand US dollars, so
- 1:33Speaker 2: not quite as much in New Zealand, but yes, it
- 1:34Speaker 2: will be between five or six hundred sALS. I'm sorry,
- 1:38Speaker 2: five hundred to six hundred dollars. I think people have
- 1:41Speaker 2: to be aware of, you know, first of all, the cost,
- 1:44Speaker 2: it is very expensive. I think secondly, the side effects.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Over seventy percent of people will have gastro intestinal problems
- 1:54Speaker 2: and that really can go from nausea to constipation to
- 1:59Speaker 2: even diary. But you know, so there are signal and
- 2:02Speaker 2: when you're taking any drug there are side effects and
- 2:05Speaker 2: these have significant gashtro and testinal effects. And the third
- 2:09Speaker 2: thing I think people have to be aware of is
- 2:12Speaker 2: that over two thirds, so over seventy percent of people
- 2:17Speaker 2: regain the weight in a year. So without lifestyle changes,
- 2:22Speaker 2: that weight's just going to come straight back on. And
- 2:25Speaker 2: it's not great weight when it comes on because you
- 2:27Speaker 2: also on wed go, you lose a lot of muscle,
- 2:30Speaker 2: so you leave both fat and muscle. So when the
- 2:33Speaker 2: weight comes back on, you're going to get more fat.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So you know, you've got to remember that. So the
- 2:39Speaker 2: lifestyle changes are important.
- 2:42Speaker 1: You've be skinny fat when you come back from it,
- 2:44Speaker 1: which is not it will be.
- 2:47Speaker 2: It's just a longer, longer for me yo yo darting
- 2:51Speaker 2: while we're here.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah, because you're I mean, this is what I'm about
- 2:55Speaker 1: to say as you would say this, wouldn't you because
- 2:57Speaker 1: you're not you know, obviously going to go to your
- 2:58Speaker 1: GP to get way over. But you're doing more natural stuff,
- 3:01Speaker 1: aren't you. So that's what you're kind of trying to
- 3:04Speaker 1: get people on, is it.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Well, it's a combination, you see. So CALICLEB does so
- 3:09Speaker 2: we understand was developed by the New Zealand government. This
- 3:13Speaker 2: is over fifteen years of research and thirty million dollars.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So we actually discovered this and I'm selling it here
- 3:20Speaker 2: in the years. So how practitioners, so the conference we're
- 3:24Speaker 2: going to as all doctors, they call them practitioners, and
- 3:28Speaker 2: how they're using it as they're using it as an alternative.
- 3:31Speaker 2: You know, that's just what you said. The Secondly, they're
- 3:34Speaker 2: using it in combination so they can do what they
- 3:38Speaker 2: can lower the dose of we're go v right down
- 3:41Speaker 2: to its lowest level, which lowers its cost and lowers
- 3:45Speaker 2: its lowers its cost and lowers its side effects. And
- 3:49Speaker 2: the third way they're using it, which is an absolute must,
- 3:52Speaker 2: is when people are coming off the drug right because
- 3:55Speaker 2: when you tie trait off, you're natural. Because what we're
- 3:59Speaker 2: going it's a synthetic version of our appetite suppressing fill.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Mode, which is what stops you wanting to step stuff
- 4:07Speaker 1: food down your mouth, isn't it, Sarah. We have to
- 4:10Speaker 1: leave it there and we will let you get back
- 4:11Speaker 1: to your conference and really appreciate your time this morning.
- 4:13Speaker 1: That's Sarah Kennedy, chief executive of Callo Curb. For more
