- Adam Rutz: Anybody can lead when things are going well. It's easy to have great energy when you're winning. It's easy to be positive when the numbers are up, the team's rolling, and everything seems to be going your way. But I want you to ask yourself a harder question. What kind of leader are you when things are not going well? Because adversity doesn't just test your performance, it exposes your leadership. If you're an athlete and you're in a slump, How are you showing up to the field every day? Are you frustrated, disconnected, and bringing everybody else down? Or are you still bringing energy to your teammates? If you're a business owner and sales are down, how are you treating your team? Are they feeling your frustration every single day? Or are they feeling your confidence that you're gonna find a way through it? If your relationship is going through a difficult stretch, how are you treating your partner? If you're a parent and you're struggling personally, what version of you are your kids watching? Leadership isn't about pretending everything's perfect. It's about deciding how you're going to respond when it isn't. Your people are watching your body language. They're listening to your words. They're feeling your energy. So when adversity hits, lead with energy. Lead with confidence. Lead with belief. Not because you know exactly when things are going to turn around, but because you believe you're capable of helping turn them around. Today, ask yourself: when things get hard, does my leadership make the people around me better or worse? Set the tone, be the example, and become the person who changes the direction. It starts with you. Mindset, process, discipline, execution, that's. Mental performance daily.
