- 1:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Maybe. Yeah, we've had like a full month off month
- 1:09Speaker 3: and some change and ready to get back to work.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Bro.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I love that. I love that. Man, you're going to
- 1:18Speaker 3: sing at the Opry. We're gonna do a little corporate
- 1:21Speaker 3: gig down in Brandzone. Love that both of us sounds
- 1:25Speaker 3: so fun. Yeah, and then tell me more. Then I
- 1:29Speaker 3: get to go to Hawaii for Kelsey's fortieth pretty excited.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Well, yeah, and then we planned it perfectly. The day
- 1:39Speaker 4: you get back basically I.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Leave, yeah, and you go on your vacation.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I got my vacation to Malta.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Y yeah, I look at us. So after the listeners,
- 1:49Speaker 3: we have been recording like crazy in the last two weeks.
- 1:53Speaker 4: We were like, oh, we're going to need some episodes.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Because we were like, we already took a couple weeks
- 1:58Speaker 3: off at the beginning of the year. We don't want
- 1:59Speaker 3: to keep taking weeks off. So we pretty much made it.
- 2:03Speaker 3: We're we're recording this on what is it, the twenty sixth,
- 2:06Speaker 3: and uh, this is going to be the last episode
- 2:09Speaker 3: I think for February. So wow, are we that far ahead? No,
- 2:14Speaker 3: next week's will be next when we get back from
- 2:17Speaker 3: our weekend trips.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Killing it over here.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I hit it again.
- 2:22Speaker 4: I love that. Have you been watching any film?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Thank you for asking me that. Oh yeah, I checked
- 2:28Speaker 3: out the new ben affleck and name in film. Oh,
- 2:32Speaker 3: I want to know what you think. It's on Netflix.
- 2:35Speaker 3: It's called The Rip.
- 2:37Speaker 4: The Rip, the Ribs with R. I. P. D. A
- 2:41Speaker 4: great film.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we can all agree on that. I
- 2:44Speaker 3: didn't even see it. It looks so bad.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It's not great, real bad.
- 2:49Speaker 3: But yeah, this is based on a true story. I
- 2:51Speaker 3: didn't know that going into it. I didn't know that either.
- 2:54Speaker 3: There are a couple of detectives in Miami. They're trying
- 2:58Speaker 3: to figure out who killed their call league and also
- 3:01Speaker 3: on an operation where they sees a bunch of money.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And it's very intense. Oh, it's really dark, like they
- 3:10Speaker 3: filmed it dark. It's in the evening. It's very very dark,
- 3:16Speaker 3: just visually. Yes, and I mean it's it's it's.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Pretty dark too in tone, but.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Pretty big cast. You got those two, you got Steven Yune,
- 3:27Speaker 3: you got Taeyana Taylor and Kyle Chandler who we love.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Nice and it was pretty good. I'm I'm glad I
- 3:35Speaker 3: didn't see it in the theater. It's not like it's
- 3:38Speaker 3: not going to blow your mind. Sure it was missing something.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I think it was probably maybe like some storytelling pretty
- 3:47Speaker 3: early on. But like, it's not the town, You're not
- 3:52Speaker 3: You're don't go into it being like this is going
- 3:54Speaker 3: to be an incredible film. It's it's not. It's but
- 3:57Speaker 3: it is pretty.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Good, fun compelling, but now like amazing but not.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and I do really like watching those two together,
- 4:07Speaker 3: and for that it is worth watching.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I also think it's worth watching just for all the
- 4:11Speaker 4: press that they've done, because it's so fun to see
- 4:14Speaker 4: them in the press together.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Agreed. Yeah, they after fun stuff. That's pretty fun.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 3: So that's that's on the flicks of what have you
- 4:24Speaker 3: been watching lately?
- 4:25Speaker 4: I went to the theater and I saw in the
- 4:30Speaker 4: one time slot, I could see it, no other choice.
- 4:34Speaker 4: I went and watched that. Have you seen this one?
- 4:36Speaker 3: I haven't even heard of that.
- 4:37Speaker 4: So this is a foreign film, blame foreign language. I
- 4:44Speaker 4: think it's Korean because I think so. I'm looking to
- 4:49Speaker 4: see because I never wrote it down like an idiot.
- 4:53Speaker 3: But it's Park Chan Wuk.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, he's doing it, and it's South Korean guy, right,
- 5:01Speaker 4: I think that's right.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I don't remember either.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I definitely know they've been they've been doing a really
- 5:07Speaker 3: good job making films.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and this one was in that line. This movie
- 5:13Speaker 4: is crazy in a mostly fun way. It's a kind
- 5:18Speaker 4: of I struggle to even say it's kind of parasite,
- 5:22Speaker 4: only in the way that it's not what you think
- 5:24Speaker 4: it's going to be at the beginning, right, like it
- 5:26Speaker 4: takes you on a real trip. It's not that good,
- 5:31Speaker 4: but I really enjoyed it. It's pretty crazy. There was
- 5:34Speaker 4: no one in it that I really knew at all,
- 5:36Speaker 4: which is kind of fun when you get the subtitles
- 5:39Speaker 4: and all that kind of stuff. But it's a guy
- 5:43Speaker 4: gets basically like the elevator pitches, a guy gets fired
- 5:47Speaker 4: from his job, and then he devises a unique plan
- 5:51Speaker 4: to secure a new job, and that might that might
- 5:55Speaker 4: include eliminating other applicants, which is kind of fun. But
- 5:59Speaker 4: it's This movie is.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Craz it's interesting. It kind of sounds like that new
- 6:04Speaker 3: Glenn Powell film kind.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Of, It's not when we were talking about the other day,
- 6:08Speaker 4: I thought that same thing. I was like, yeah, okay,
- 6:10Speaker 4: I kind of get that right. But it's super wild
- 6:14Speaker 4: and super fun and it's it's definitely worth checking out.
- 6:17Speaker 4: It's a you know, it's a thriller at times. It's
- 6:22Speaker 4: pretty funny at times, but yeah, it's it's pretty great.
- 6:25Speaker 4: It's a And I did confirm it as a Korean film,
- 6:27Speaker 4: so sorry. I hadn't read that down no for sure,
- 6:32Speaker 4: but when I would do, yeah, I really liked it.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I thought it was really fun, So go check it out.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I'm sure it'll be streaming at some point here soonish nice,
- 6:42Speaker 4: but man, it was that was a weird one to
- 6:44Speaker 4: sit through. It was cool.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I bet like it.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I've been streaming anything, so.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I have been. Thank you for asking. I finished another
- 6:52Speaker 3: super interesting, entertaining season of land Man on Paramounts.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Because I thought you kind of fell off the old
- 6:59Speaker 4: land Man nice. I mean, I guess, I guess.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So it was like it just finished. It's a weekly deal,
- 7:09Speaker 3: so come in. What was its eight to ten episodes?
- 7:12Speaker 3: I don't remember how many episodes, so it was on
- 7:15Speaker 3: it was on TV for a while, you know, But man,
- 7:19Speaker 3: I just love the characters they created. This is another
- 7:23Speaker 3: Taylor Sheridan show.
- 7:24Speaker 4: That guy is just destroying written money. Dude, like he's
- 7:28Speaker 4: gotta be right because the Marshall's Show, it's all the
- 7:32Speaker 4: shows shows.
- 7:36Speaker 3: But this season was Finn focus more on. They really
- 7:40Speaker 3: show off Demi Moore and more Andy Garcia, Demi Moore
- 7:46Speaker 3: as well. I don't know, I said, Demi Moore more,
- 7:49Speaker 3: We got Andy Garcia, we got Billy Bob and Ali
- 7:53Speaker 3: Larter are awesome.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Uh.
- 7:55Speaker 3: They really kind of dive into Sam Elliott, which he's
- 7:59Speaker 3: been in a thing that's fun. A couple of those
- 8:02Speaker 3: tailor shared in shows, so they must have a good
- 8:04Speaker 3: relating sip. But I'm really enjoying the show, interested to
- 8:09Speaker 3: hear if they're going to keep making more seasons. If
- 8:11Speaker 3: they do, I will keep watching. It's just fun to
- 8:14Speaker 3: be able to root for some characters because I rarely
- 8:16Speaker 3: get to do that in shows these days.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Anti heroes, guys yea, or just nasty people.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Right, there's there's like, yeah, actually some good people in
- 8:28Speaker 3: this one, which is that's kind of fun nice. I
- 8:30Speaker 3: like it. What have you been streaming?
- 8:33Speaker 4: I talked about the first one, but I watched the
- 8:35Speaker 4: second Dune Part two. I went to rewatch. I've just
- 8:40Speaker 4: really been on a shall make kick over here, I
- 8:42Speaker 4: guess apparently. I think it was when you came up
- 8:48Speaker 4: in one of the episodes that we did. Who knows
- 8:52Speaker 4: what time works, but that MASSI is coming out this
- 8:55Speaker 4: year and I had kind of forgot, so I was
- 8:56Speaker 4: super like, oh, I'm going to rewatch those end.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Of the year. You're a little early.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm probably gonna watch him again. But you know,
- 9:04Speaker 4: I needed something to have on the old TV, and
- 9:07Speaker 4: this is just a man Dune too really cooks, dude,
- 9:12Speaker 4: Like one is crazy, but there's so much table setting
- 9:15Speaker 4: in one because you have to and it's wonderful. But
- 9:18Speaker 4: this one is just madness the whole way through.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I loved that movie. I was I think at the
- 9:25Speaker 3: time I was telling you I would have voted for
- 9:28Speaker 3: that for Best Picture. I loved it that much.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I don't think that's crazy at all. Man, I am
- 9:33Speaker 4: one hundred percent with you. Yeah, I really liked it.
- 9:37Speaker 4: And it's still got the crazy giant cast. It was
- 9:41Speaker 4: fun rewatching this one after hearing because I think we
- 9:46Speaker 4: noticed it and talked about it at the time. But
- 9:47Speaker 4: Austin Butler doing the voice of.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Elvis, No, well, yes.
- 9:55Speaker 4: That too, but he's the son of the Stone Scars Guard. Yes,
- 10:00Speaker 4: and I can't remember that character's name off the hand,
- 10:03Speaker 4: but either this get Austin Butler is Fade Ralph and
- 10:07Speaker 4: he mimics him so well, like it's it's pretty crazy
- 10:11Speaker 4: and like I guess I knew it, but really like
- 10:14Speaker 4: focusing in on.
- 10:15Speaker 3: It, I was like, yeah, that is insane. It's kind
- 10:18Speaker 3: of interesting. Well, it's like, why didn't they just get
- 10:19Speaker 3: a Scars guard to do that role? Right?
- 10:22Speaker 4: You have seven of them or whatever.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, that is kind of funny. Yeah, but I
- 10:27Speaker 3: was impressed with him as well.
- 10:29Speaker 4: I just think he was so weird and fun. But yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 4: just really great that I'm not breaking any ground here.
- 10:36Speaker 4: That movie is incredible and it's very scope, real real good.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I'll have some Villeneuve, but yeah, what he says should
- 10:44Speaker 4: do if you plug a.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Ruse plug it's you.

- 11:38Speaker 3: the movie. We're talking about this one. We're going to
- 11:41Speaker 3: do our top five favorite movie King Kings. This was fun.
- 11:47Speaker 4: There's a lot of kings, good kings out, a lot
- 11:50Speaker 4: of Kings.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I like it for all of that.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Do it. Oh, we're here today to talk about ever
- 12:00Speaker 4: favorite King. I guess is probably the only way really
- 12:02Speaker 4: to say, of course, yes, what else would it be?
- 12:06Speaker 4: This is all the way from back in nineteen hundred
- 12:08Speaker 4: and ninety.
- 12:09Speaker 3: One Gang thirty fifth anniversary.
- 12:12Speaker 4: We're here to talk a little King Ralph with you.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Ralph so excited to chat about this movie. And we
- 12:22Speaker 4: got to the man who's responsible for showing you this
- 12:24Speaker 4: movie probably nine hundred times. Your papa's here, So everybody,
- 12:30Speaker 4: let's say hi to friend Lovely.
- 12:32Speaker 3: What's up dad?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Well, not a lot? How are you guys?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Oh my god, you're so good.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Yeah. That's from a different film called Saving Silverman, which
- 12:48Speaker 3: is ridiculous.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and we did weeks ago at this point.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been a while, but I got to see
- 12:57Speaker 3: my dad. Yesterday. We had kind of a fun day.
- 13:00Speaker 3: We had the whole fam over and we just played
- 13:03Speaker 3: a bunch of games.
- 13:04Speaker 2: It was really fun. I didn't win at any of them,
- 13:07Speaker 2: but you didn't.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Sounds right, That sounds right. Robert gives it to you all.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Surprisingly, Robert won a few.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Why never, I never do it and I was winning.
- 13:19Speaker 3: What did you guys end up playing?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Because you were talking about there were lots of options.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, we had go for it.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Well three thirteen yeah. Gravity.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's this gravity card game. It's pretty much
- 13:35Speaker 3: like it's like a Jenga where you guess. Instead of
- 13:38Speaker 3: pulling away, you're like putting these cards on top of
- 13:42Speaker 3: a bottle and they they're not supposed to fall. It's crazy.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really fun.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Jenny introduces to one that was like a code code
- 13:52Speaker 3: names or code names. That sounds fun.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we used to play that, nephew all the time.
- 13:57Speaker 4: They love that game.
- 13:58Speaker 5: And then we played one was timed and you had
- 14:02Speaker 5: to whatever the word.
- 14:04Speaker 2: You had to come up.
- 14:05Speaker 5: With girls' names and then hit the corresponding letter, and
- 14:10Speaker 5: I of course went out.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I went out pretty fast.
- 14:14Speaker 3: You really did? You really did? He's like I'm out
- 14:18Speaker 3: on this one. I don't know, but it's it's kind
- 14:21Speaker 3: of so, it's this thing and it has like all
- 14:23Speaker 3: the letters of the alphabet and you have to like
- 14:25Speaker 3: press down that letter and then you pressed past. There's
- 14:28Speaker 3: just so much you have to do. And of course
- 14:30Speaker 3: it's like being at you like it's like category slash catchphrase.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Kind of.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Way more stressful. Yes, very stressed your mind, just like
- 14:43Speaker 3: I can't what's a person's name right?
- 14:48Speaker 4: Right then?
- 14:50Speaker 2: I forgot what letter it starts with.
- 14:54Speaker 3: It was fun, that's great. It was good, clean fun,
- 14:58Speaker 3: good fun.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Well this movie is also a good, clean fun I think.
- 15:03Speaker 4: So I think we should get right into it. What
- 15:05Speaker 4: do you guys thinks? Should we start with the roof synopsis?
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah? When the royal family is accidentally killed, the heir
- 15:13Speaker 3: to the throne proves to be a loutish American named
- 15:17Speaker 3: Ralph Jones. Overnight, Ralph goes from sleazy Las Vegas lounge
- 15:22Speaker 3: singer to King of the England, and it's Royal Secretary
- 15:26Speaker 3: Cedric Willingham's job to try to civilize him. But it's
- 15:30Speaker 3: not easy weaning Ralph off of fast food, and even
- 15:33Speaker 3: harder keeping him away from a kindly stripper. Meanwhile, the
- 15:39Speaker 3: next would be air plots Ralph's device.
- 15:44Speaker 2: It's intense, tense, fun.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I love that.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Let's go to run Tomnals and hear what they have
- 15:51Speaker 4: to say critics have. It's coming in at twenty three percent,
- 15:54Speaker 4: so not great, not even close to the worst one
- 15:57Speaker 4: we've done this year.
- 15:58Speaker 3: So there's that. Every movie that we have done this
- 16:01Speaker 3: year has been below twenty five percent.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Absolutely, every single one, every one of them.
- 16:10Speaker 2: No one.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Bryan enjoyed it so much, right, same here, audience members.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Though in the ones we've been doing have been higher,
- 16:18Speaker 4: but in this one, twenty eight percent. I was kind
- 16:21Speaker 4: of shocked by that.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yeah, me too, shocked.
- 16:24Speaker 4: That's really low for a bit.
- 16:26Speaker 3: And yeah, it made money, it did. Oh I didn't
- 16:30Speaker 3: even look at that. That's yeah, it made like fifty million.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It doubled it and doubled its budget.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Well, and that was just I guess it wasn't It
- 16:39Speaker 3: was more like thirty million, but you know, and that's
- 16:43Speaker 3: before like VHS sales, and I know they got a
- 16:46Speaker 3: few bucks.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Of mild Yeah, us too. Let's doo, well, let's go,
- 16:52Speaker 4: let's talk about what we think. It's time for our
- 16:54Speaker 4: hot take.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Hot take. That's a hot take. That's a hot Oh
- 17:01Speaker 3: I just I was electrocuted while taking a picture. Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Nice, nicely done, nicely done. I can go first. I
- 17:10Speaker 4: love this movie and have loved it for such a
- 17:13Speaker 4: long time. I can remember watching it when I was
- 17:15Speaker 4: a kid and just thinking it was hilarious. I was correct.
- 17:19Speaker 3: It's really fun. It does start out really wild.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Like this is why that should be in like one
- 17:27Speaker 4: of our When you explain the plot, it's really like
- 17:30Speaker 4: the entire family is electrocuted within the first like two
- 17:34Speaker 4: minutes of the movie, I know, which is pretty crazy.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I think.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Dare I say the funniest movie that starts with a
- 17:41Speaker 4: mass killing? I think I feel pretty good saying that.
- 17:48Speaker 4: It was like the first thing I thought when I
- 17:50Speaker 4: was watching it, I was like, okat got that great,
- 17:52Speaker 4: great rob. I love to see that. You must have
- 17:57Speaker 4: watched this a lot as a kid, because he was
- 17:59Speaker 4: watching football while he was supposed to be performing.
- 18:01Speaker 3: And I know that a few times with the old
- 18:06Speaker 3: Free Yes, we we definitely when there's one of our
- 18:11Speaker 3: teams playing, we put it on the monitor on stage
- 18:15Speaker 3: and watch the football games.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Yes, like singing tiny bubbles from the Great Done home.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I forgot that song was in this movie. My dad
- 18:29Speaker 4: loved that song, dude, which is so funny and it
- 18:32Speaker 4: is maybe giggle. I remember the first time he told
- 18:35Speaker 4: me that, and apparently I heard it because I watched
- 18:37Speaker 4: this movie. But I was like, you like this song? Why?
- 18:43Speaker 3: But it was charming and lovely, so very smarmy.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Which I like a lot. I just think this movie
- 18:48Speaker 4: is a blast. I think it's super fun the whole time.
- 18:51Speaker 4: It's got some heart to it, but it doesn't try
- 18:54Speaker 4: to like push the issue, which is fun. Yeah. I
- 18:57Speaker 4: just had a really great time watching it. Goodmond is
- 19:00Speaker 4: always great, and it was fun to see him as
- 19:02Speaker 4: like a really young buck, you know, out there again.
- 19:06Speaker 4: That was really fun. But I will say, in a
- 19:09Speaker 4: movie that talks about like royalty and lines of succession,
- 19:15Speaker 4: the least believable thing about this movie is he had
- 19:18Speaker 4: a Cubs hat and a packer's jersey on at the
- 19:21Speaker 4: same time. Right, that's right, madness, madness.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Yep, that's tough. That's a tough look. I agree.
- 19:29Speaker 4: That was my hottest take. That's all I got.
- 19:31Speaker 3: That's a hot take. Bro. Shockingly, we have a very
- 19:36Speaker 3: similar hot take. Who would have thought? Who would have thunk. Yeah,
- 19:40Speaker 3: this was a favorite of mine growing up. I thought
- 19:43Speaker 3: we all watched it a bunch, and I brought it
- 19:45Speaker 3: up yesterday when we were playing games, but my mom
- 19:48Speaker 3: and my sister felt like they hadn't seen it that
- 19:50Speaker 3: many times. I think it must have just been me
- 19:52Speaker 3: and my dad watched Yeah, you and I Yeah. So
- 19:56Speaker 3: that that surprised me.
- 19:58Speaker 4: That's kind of fun.
- 20:00Speaker 3: So this was written and directed by David s Ward,
- 20:04Speaker 3: and he wrote or directed some of my faves. He
- 20:08Speaker 3: did the Sting, he did Major League, which we've done
- 20:13Speaker 3: an episode on, Yeah, Sleepless in Seattley helped write with
- 20:17Speaker 3: Nora Ephron, and a football movie that nobody's seen that
- 20:20Speaker 3: I love called The Program. So this guy is responsible
- 20:25Speaker 3: for a bunch of movies that I find very entertaining.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Cool.
- 20:29Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought it was a really fun, ridiculous
- 20:32Speaker 3: idea for a plot that they were able to make
- 20:34Speaker 3: feel grounded and real by getting some amazing actors in there.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Peter O'Toole is extraordinary, brings so much credibility to this
- 20:45Speaker 3: really goofy idea. John Goodman is a treasurer who I've
- 20:50Speaker 3: loved for as long as I can remember. The best
- 20:54Speaker 3: the cast is just super legit with some really talented actors.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Actor is that probably are too good to be in
- 21:02Speaker 3: this movie, which brings it up quite a bit. I
- 21:05Speaker 3: like that. I like that, but yeah, it's just a
- 21:08Speaker 3: good time. I've I've really enjoyed it when I was
- 21:11Speaker 3: a kid. It's probably been thirty years since I've seen it,
- 21:14Speaker 3: and I still like remembered what the next thing was
- 21:18Speaker 3: going to be coming out same, But yeah, my hot
- 21:21Speaker 3: take was very similar to yours. They were able to
- 21:25Speaker 3: take a mass casualty event where forty nine members of
- 21:30Speaker 3: the royal family tragically die and turn it into a
- 21:34Speaker 3: light hearted romp.
- 21:37Speaker 4: And also non amazing feet too sad about it, I
- 21:39Speaker 4: don't know, Like no, they kind of bring it up
- 21:42Speaker 4: once when when he is like I'm the next King and.
- 21:45Speaker 3: She's like, it's not really you know. Yeah, that's a
- 21:49Speaker 3: funny joke to make, right now. That's like the only
- 21:52Speaker 3: time they really bring.
- 21:53Speaker 4: She gets over it quick though, right, Yeah, that's funny.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I like that, very similar take. What you got, Well, we.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Watched it a lot.
- 22:04Speaker 5: I enjoyed watching it again after twenty five years, and
- 22:09Speaker 5: it held up just.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Fine for me.
- 22:12Speaker 5: I'm I'm marvel at the level of actors they got
- 22:18Speaker 5: for this movie. You know, two of them were are
- 22:24Speaker 5: Sir John Hart and Sir Leslie Phillips, Academy Award, bath
- 22:31Speaker 5: To winners, Golden Globe winners.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's a.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Who's who of British character actors actually, And one of
- 22:44Speaker 5: my favorite scenes every time is John Goodman on horseback,
- 22:49Speaker 5: sneaking out and in to Buckingham Palace and he's all
- 22:54Speaker 5: over the horse and he's hanging on for dear life.
- 22:59Speaker 5: I say, think they turned the mass casualty event. Then
- 23:03Speaker 5: they showed you what the picture looked like and all
- 23:06Speaker 5: their hair is yeah, which I thought was pretty funny.
- 23:12Speaker 2: And I liked that they.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Had him ordering a burger King when Goodman's first job
- 23:17Speaker 5: on camera was a burger king commercials. I just I
- 23:23Speaker 5: thought it was fun. I liked the love story. I
- 23:26Speaker 5: liked the play and in Buckingham Palace where they put
- 23:30Speaker 5: in a bowling alley and he had a pinball machine
- 23:34Speaker 5: and everything you know that they would not put in
- 23:37Speaker 5: the Buckingham pal right that it.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Weren't for me. I thought it was great. Still still
- 23:44Speaker 2: loved it.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it was really fun and it's really like pretty well,
- 23:48Speaker 4: I don't think there's anything too weird now, no awkward.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it was fun.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Liked it lot.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Agreed, hot take hat hat.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Well, let's name our let's talk about our favorite acting performance.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Shall we name the dude the dude? I'm the dude,
- 24:05Speaker 4: So that's what you call me, you know that?
- 24:09Speaker 3: Or his dudeus or a duder or you know el
- 24:13Speaker 3: dud reno if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 24:16Speaker 4: We got for this one, Fred, who's your dude?
- 24:18Speaker 2: Peter O'Toole No.
- 24:22Speaker 5: I thought he was marvelous, as said or Cedric, but
- 24:29Speaker 5: of course King Ralph called him, said he did a
- 24:34Speaker 5: beautiful job of being a upper crust British aristocratic man
- 24:42Speaker 5: who was perfect in this role.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I think the role was beneath his talent.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Somewhat when you see the kind of dignity he brought
- 24:54Speaker 5: to the role, especially in the House of Commons. Yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 5: and King Ralph gives his speech and he comes out
- 25:04Speaker 5: as the next king.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I just still brings chills.
- 25:08Speaker 5: I just love that sand Yeah, so he's getting my
- 25:11Speaker 5: top top read nice.
- 25:14Speaker 3: I love that. Yeah, that I mean, I definitely get it.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I also thought he was perfectly cast. I don't think
- 25:20Speaker 3: anyone else could have grounded this kind of silly scrap
- 25:24Speaker 3: better than he did. He just seems so regal, and
- 25:28Speaker 3: he had some really great monologues in this, which you know,
- 25:32Speaker 3: it's not surprising with somebody of his talent, but it
- 25:36Speaker 3: was pretty good. Actually drook me up in this, right, Yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 3: But I mean, for my dude, I gotta go with
- 25:44Speaker 3: John Goodman. I've loved him for as long as I
- 25:47Speaker 3: can remember. He just seemed like a regular guy, not
- 25:50Speaker 3: very ambitious, gets thrown into this insane situation, and the
- 25:55Speaker 3: whole time he just wants to hang out with a
- 25:58Speaker 3: pretty girl. I heard that. I loved that. He Like
- 26:02Speaker 3: you said, Dad, he switched up the castle, put put
- 26:05Speaker 3: some of his favorite things in there, stuff that if
- 26:08Speaker 3: a regular guy became king would be like, hey, I
- 26:11Speaker 3: want a bowling out here. It would be sweet, let's
- 26:13Speaker 3: do it, let's do this. But yeah, just so much
- 26:16Speaker 3: fun in this. I loved his performance, and he brought
- 26:19Speaker 3: a lot of comedy and a lot of heart. I
- 26:21Speaker 3: always love that.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Nice love that I picked John Goodman too. I feel
- 26:26Speaker 4: like I suppose I had probably watched Roseanne or something
- 26:30Speaker 4: at this point, but I feel like, this is the
- 26:32Speaker 4: first movie I remember where he was like really heavily involved. Yeah,
- 26:37Speaker 4: maybe Revenge on the Nerds i'd seen.
- 26:38Speaker 3: But The Nerds is the first one.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's probably true. But you know, like he
- 26:44Speaker 4: was just so good and it was so fun.
- 26:46Speaker 3: He just seemed so much larger than life.
- 26:48Speaker 4: And they they really made him look he's a big guy,
- 26:51Speaker 4: but they made him look so giant in all these
- 26:54Speaker 4: scenes in this movie, and it was really fun. Got
- 26:56Speaker 4: to see his physical comedy, got to see his music
- 26:59Speaker 4: child which was really fun. And then he's a good actor,
- 27:03Speaker 4: like he you know, can deliver the lines and you
- 27:05Speaker 4: can tug at your heartst I just think he's so wonderful.
- 27:08Speaker 4: I wonder I meant to I didn't get time, but
- 27:11Speaker 4: I meant to look up, like how many folks have
- 27:14Speaker 4: played the King of England and the President of the
- 27:16Speaker 4: United States, because.
- 27:18Speaker 3: He got to do that in West Wing, and so
- 27:20Speaker 3: that was kind of fun to.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Think about, you know who else has played all those roles.
- 27:24Speaker 4: But he's just he's just the best. He's kind of
- 27:28Speaker 4: John Candy ish too in that, like totally, I feel
- 27:31Speaker 4: like if he came to dinner with us, it'd be
- 27:33Speaker 4: like a cool night, and he'd be pretty chill and cool,
- 27:37Speaker 4: you know, like I just think he'd fit right in
- 27:39Speaker 4: and we'd have a great time, you know, A very
- 27:42Speaker 4: nice man.
- 27:43Speaker 3: So yeah, I picked him.
- 27:45Speaker 4: He's just great.
- 27:47Speaker 3: That's great. Well, why don't we talk about some of
- 27:49Speaker 3: these supporting roles and let's choose the d when do
- 27:55Speaker 3: you have dad?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Well?
- 27:57Speaker 2: Good?
- 27:57Speaker 5: I gotta mention good Man. Everything you guys said, I
- 28:01Speaker 5: agree with. I love his His physicality is just.
- 28:05Speaker 4: A riot a man the best.
- 28:07Speaker 2: He is a funny dude.
- 28:11Speaker 5: I like when he flips the steward the dollar bill
- 28:17Speaker 5: like he's tipping the guy in the in Buckingham Palace.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Great, I thought he was good. Just the way he
- 28:28Speaker 2: could play off a monkey and a stripper.
- 28:31Speaker 5: And he's telling him how to do the turn, you know,
- 28:34Speaker 5: and the cock the hip.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I thought it was beautiful.
- 28:38Speaker 5: I've always liked him, whether it's he's being funny or
- 28:43Speaker 5: very serious, like movies in Wherees Underground and there was,
- 28:52Speaker 5: But the guy is a good actor.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I just thought Peter O'Toole was the best actor.
- 28:59Speaker 3: In the Oh. Yeah, I get that, but.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Good Man, he did a beautiful job.
- 29:04Speaker 5: I like when he's trying to deny he is the
- 29:08Speaker 5: King of England, you know, and I don't know. I
- 29:11Speaker 5: just enjoyed him wearing his the crown while he's in
- 29:17Speaker 5: the tub. I liked that part. Yeah, I just got
- 29:21Speaker 5: to kick out of him all the way through. And
- 29:25Speaker 5: then now dignified. He goes from being kind of a
- 29:30Speaker 5: joke too. When he came into Parliament he was very dignified,
- 29:37Speaker 5: a total transformation and did a beautiful job and he said,
- 29:41Speaker 5: oh no, I have to wing it from here, and
- 29:44Speaker 5: then it's like, oh god, what's he going to say?
- 29:48Speaker 5: But I just enjoyed it front to back.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that's awesome. Love that here. I would have picked
- 29:55Speaker 3: Peter O'Toole for all the reasons that we said. Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 3: he was absolutely incredible. My runner up. I love Richard Griffiths.
- 30:04Speaker 3: He is pretty wonderful. I'm sure you know him from
- 30:07Speaker 3: the Harry Potter series. Yeah, he plays fips, but just
- 30:12Speaker 3: a fun role. He was shocked that he had to
- 30:16Speaker 3: try and convince someone to be the King of England,
- 30:19Speaker 3: and it was fun seeing him get so exasperated. You ton'tally,
- 30:26Speaker 3: what is it pay? And he freaks out like you
- 30:29Speaker 3: hold one for anything? What is it? But and it
- 30:33Speaker 3: was really fun seeing him let loose on those drums.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but yeah, really fun role. I like him.
- 30:41Speaker 4: I like that a lot as well. I'm with you, guys.
- 30:44Speaker 4: I had Peter O'Toole and Goodman just swapped from you, Fred,
- 30:48Speaker 4: so a hundred percent with you on that. It was
- 30:50Speaker 4: fun to see Camille Cowdrey.
- 30:54Speaker 3: What's her name in this, Miranda, Miranda. She's so great
- 30:58Speaker 3: in this.
- 30:59Speaker 4: She's so cute and just lovely and break grounding and
- 31:03Speaker 4: just really really fun and gets like it's actually like
- 31:06Speaker 4: a little bit involved in the way that you know,
- 31:09Speaker 4: women weren't always involved in these comedy movies in that
- 31:12Speaker 4: in that time period, because you know, she's got to
- 31:14Speaker 4: make some like ethical choices and has to do some things.
- 31:18Speaker 4: I thought she was great.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I really liked that, Yeah, I thought.
- 31:22Speaker 4: And she's so cute in this movie, my goodness, Yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 4: what a beauty. But loved her. And I loved John
- 31:28Speaker 4: Hurt too, Like.
- 31:29Speaker 3: He was so just sniffly and ye.
- 31:34Speaker 4: The perfect like example personable, but he was so good
- 31:44Speaker 4: at being so bad, you know, like I was waiting
- 31:50Speaker 4: for something to come out of his chest, but.
- 31:54Speaker 3: That it didn't happen. I guess that we saw.
- 31:58Speaker 2: It was great.
- 32:00Speaker 3: He was good. Yeah, after he like tells her off,
- 32:03Speaker 3: he says something nasty, he's just like I rather enjoyed,
- 32:07Speaker 3: just like what a tool bag? Yeah? Yeah, great, he
- 32:12Speaker 3: was good.
- 32:13Speaker 4: That's great. I had to run her up to uh
- 32:16Speaker 4: oh dude. Jolie richards Jolie Richardson loved seeing her. Princess Anna.
- 32:23Speaker 4: I forgot the deep voice part, so that like, oh no.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Best's the one that my dad I always quoted.
- 32:31Speaker 2: WHOA.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I was looking up and I wanted to see
- 32:37Speaker 3: in trivia that they like modified her voice.
- 32:39Speaker 4: But I think she is really that's incredible. She's quite tall,
- 32:44Speaker 4: so she probably has a long you know, fos box
- 32:47Speaker 4: or something.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it was pretty, but I've seen her and other
- 32:49Speaker 3: stuff and she's got a lovely speaking. She's a meta
- 32:52Speaker 3: from one hundred and one Dalmatians. She was lovely.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm with you. What other runners up did you
- 32:58Speaker 4: guys have?
- 32:59Speaker 3: There's so many you named everybody, you named everybody that
- 33:02Speaker 3: I put down? Did you have anybody else?
- 33:04Speaker 5: Dad hurt for sure, And I really liked Miranda, but
- 33:12Speaker 5: Sir Richard was really fun to watch.
- 33:15Speaker 2: I agree, he was great.
- 33:18Speaker 5: You'll have a whole fleak of car and eight castles
- 33:22Speaker 5: to try to convince him to take the.
- 33:25Speaker 4: He's like, I never thought i'd have to talk you
- 33:27Speaker 4: into it.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Yeah it was pretty good.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah it was.
- 33:31Speaker 3: It was a dude who just got fired from his lounge,
- 33:34Speaker 3: singing trying to convince him to live in a castle.
- 33:39Speaker 3: So a funny idea. All right, well, let's let's talk
- 33:44Speaker 3: about some of our favorite scenes. Let's choose the dingas.
- 33:48Speaker 2: The dings is quite simple, really, dingus, dingus.
- 33:52Speaker 3: I could talk about my dingas all night long. Or
- 33:57Speaker 3: the spotted dick, Oh, spotted one. That's great, that's great,
- 34:05Speaker 3: I love it. What do you have for your favor
- 34:08Speaker 3: favorite scene?
- 34:09Speaker 5: Ded Uh, I've got a couple of them, but my
- 34:15Speaker 5: favorite is when he comes into the ballroom from being
- 34:20Speaker 5: out with the princess and says to the Prime Minister.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Hale, well, how did you like her? Well?
- 34:29Speaker 5: The facts he has a voice like a tuba and
- 34:32Speaker 5: wants to have sex on a better nails on national television.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Oh she's fine. That was my favorite.
- 34:39Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I had I had chosen the ball scene, which
- 34:49Speaker 3: that is in and the lot happens, so it starts
- 34:54Speaker 3: off with the dinner. He plays pretty much dominoes with
- 34:57Speaker 3: all of the wine glasses on.
- 34:59Speaker 4: The longest thing go on a long time too, which
- 35:01Speaker 4: is really fun.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I liked that. It was really good. Yeah that was
- 35:06Speaker 3: Excuse me, it was good. And then he dances with
- 35:13Speaker 3: Princess Anna, who has the deepest voice ever, which is
- 35:16Speaker 3: probably my favorite bit and the whole thing. And then
- 35:20Speaker 3: we get to see him perform Good Golly Miss Molly
- 35:22Speaker 3: in front of a bunch of horrified guests, even though
- 35:25Speaker 3: it's like a bunch of fun and the band is cooking,
- 35:27Speaker 3: and he was so sweaty.
- 35:32Speaker 4: I know you're a big superstar now, but how relatable
- 35:34Speaker 4: was he just put everything on the line. Its like
- 35:37Speaker 4: hes a lot, oh yeah, a smaggy.
- 35:43Speaker 3: The only difference is when I see those those kind
- 35:45Speaker 3: of faces out there, I am not. I'm not getting
- 35:49Speaker 3: as like into it as he was, like play down, like,
- 35:52Speaker 3: oh nobody wants nobody's liking this. Okay, good Golly, miss Molly.
- 35:56Speaker 4: I'm a little more like him. I'll do it more.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I like I like how the band got into it.
- 36:05Speaker 5: The best players and they're standing players.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Really taking it to him.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I love this person you'll try to keep up
- 36:14Speaker 4: and then just ripping it. Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're super winded by the end. It was fun.
- 36:19Speaker 3: It was a fun bit, really great. Yeah. I liked
- 36:21Speaker 3: that a lot.
- 36:23Speaker 4: I had the banquet, like the banquet and ball scene
- 36:26Speaker 4: as well. I just thought they were really really great.
- 36:29Speaker 4: When he uh, a tiny, tiny scene that I for
- 36:33Speaker 4: some reason remember so well when he cuts the guy's
- 36:36Speaker 4: ear when he's knighting him. Yeah, it cracks me up
- 36:39Speaker 4: every single time because, yeah, they bring it back with
- 36:44Speaker 4: the holding.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Of the ears. It's so good. I got him good.
- 36:48Speaker 3: I'm sorry he's so like, oh's you know, it's just
- 36:52Speaker 3: so funny.
- 36:53Speaker 4: I love it. I loved the cricket scene when he
- 36:57Speaker 4: like is you get to see him do something he's
- 37:00Speaker 4: really good at, which is fun, especially when he's like
- 37:04Speaker 4: really in that fish out of water part of that,
- 37:06Speaker 4: you know, that first initial part. That was really fun.
- 37:09Speaker 4: So I liked that.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I was going to look up did he do the
- 37:12Speaker 3: babe before this movie? I meant to look it up too,
- 37:15Speaker 3: because that's what I think did the next year, next
- 37:18Speaker 3: year at this point, you know, So that's funny.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's really great.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you look like a ballplayer. He was good athletic.
- 37:27Speaker 5: I liked the little scene where he's walking down the
- 37:30Speaker 5: path and the goose is following behind.
- 37:34Speaker 2: That was a pretty cool little so great.
- 37:36Speaker 5: It was apropos of nothing, but I love that they
- 37:39Speaker 5: put it in there.
- 37:40Speaker 4: It was just so cute. Yeah, that was really great.
- 37:44Speaker 3: I like that. Yeah. I had a runner up seeing
- 37:47Speaker 3: with just the coronation speech that you you brought up earlier. Dad.
- 37:51Speaker 3: He finally kind of gets Zach together, steps up at
- 37:54Speaker 3: the moment, left on a high note that the name
- 37:58Speaker 3: said is his successor, which was pretty fun and pulled
- 38:02Speaker 3: up the heartstrings. It was pretty great.
- 38:04Speaker 4: They never really describe what's going to happen when said
- 38:06Speaker 4: doesn't have a kid.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Yeah they did.
- 38:11Speaker 5: They did because they called Goodman's boy George the second right.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Oh that makes sense.
- 38:21Speaker 2: He's the air of parent.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Oh that's great, lovely, I missed that. That's fun. I
- 38:29Speaker 4: love that. I also love the he's bumbling through the
- 38:33Speaker 4: King Milambon or whatever his name is, through that thing
- 38:37Speaker 4: and he's like, you want to get a beer, and
- 38:38Speaker 4: then they're just having a great time. I thought that
- 38:40Speaker 4: was a super fun scene, almost spearmpetitive. Yeah, it's so great.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Yeah, the spear dart thing. That was funny. It's pretty great.
- 38:52Speaker 4: But yeah, other than that, like specific scenes, don't like,
- 38:55Speaker 4: bits were fun, but nothing else stood out.
- 38:57Speaker 3: To me in a big way. Yeah, Like all the
- 38:59Speaker 3: physical humor like you brought. I loved, like the walking
- 39:02Speaker 3: into the fountain, the pouring the tea as awkwardly as.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Possibly the tea cup stuck on.
- 39:13Speaker 3: His arm. Yeah, yeah, that was great. You're dropping the
- 39:19Speaker 3: crown in the bath. Just all that stuff is great
- 39:24Speaker 3: and what I love about this movie. Yeah, but yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 3: if I was picking one, it would be the Ball.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Love that I'm into that way, it's appropriate that the
- 39:35Speaker 4: ball has is our spotted dick. There you go what
- 39:42Speaker 4: I loved. Can I just have some ice c please?
- 39:49Speaker 4: There are quite a few of these. We should talk
- 39:51Speaker 4: about our favorites. Well, let's it's time.
- 39:53Speaker 3: To show me the money. Show me the money, show
- 39:58Speaker 3: me friend say some quotes.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I already gave him.
- 40:08Speaker 5: A tub, have sunks on a better nails on National TV.
- 40:15Speaker 2: That's my favorite.
- 40:16Speaker 3: At least the party stinks.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Yeah, is beautiful, so funny.
- 40:24Speaker 3: I love that. I had a few Pretty early on
- 40:28Speaker 3: Phipps and Cedric are talking about the next King it's like, well,
- 40:33Speaker 3: he has his strengths and his weaknesses. You see he's
- 40:36Speaker 3: American and then he quickly duncan the strength. That is
- 40:43Speaker 3: so perfect. I didn't really remember that. And it really funny.
- 40:49Speaker 4: That's great.
- 40:52Speaker 3: What else is fun Oh you have nice butts.
- 40:58Speaker 4: That cracked me up.
- 41:00Speaker 3: God, that is the one, my dad, My nice buttocks.
- 41:05Speaker 3: You have nice buttocks. It's so good.
- 41:08Speaker 2: If I were good married for love and married.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Speak, yeah, yeah, so good. We have some Finnish listeners.
- 41:21Speaker 3: I wonder if that was a good representation of a
- 41:26Speaker 3: Finnish accent. I can't imagine that.
- 41:28Speaker 4: I bet it's perfect.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Spot it was danger. That was a danger Danish.
- 41:36Speaker 3: No, it was.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Because the dad was totally British.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, as was the mother.
- 41:45Speaker 2: And she had some German accent or something.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Those royal families, though they were interbreeding.
- 41:52Speaker 3: It was like all from one family.
- 41:54Speaker 4: It's weird.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Uh. Some more I had. When Phipps is doing his
- 42:00Speaker 3: little he made like a video for him and he's like,
- 42:03Speaker 3: when in public, a royal personage must refrain from chewing gum,
- 42:08Speaker 3: using profanity, picking his nose, scratching his pride and staring
- 42:16Speaker 3: down the bus lines. Of visiting female dignitaries, and Ralph's like,
- 42:20Speaker 3: what the hell, that's everything, that's all.
- 42:22Speaker 4: The good stuff.
- 42:26Speaker 3: So good. It was good. Oh and one bit that
- 42:30Speaker 3: I really enjoyed. When they're kind of going through he's
- 42:32Speaker 3: still kind of giving him a tour of the grounds.
- 42:37Speaker 3: He shows him the photo. He's like, that's George the Third.
- 42:39Speaker 3: You may remember him. He was king during that little
- 42:41Speaker 3: temper tantrum you call the Revolutionary War. So it sounds
- 42:45Speaker 3: like sour grapes to me, said, after all, we did
- 42:48Speaker 3: kick your ass. The losses entirely yours, or rather theirs.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Try to remember you're an Englishman now, okay, but I
- 42:55Speaker 3: still think they kicked our ass.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I like that.
- 42:58Speaker 3: That was pretty fun. Lot, That was good.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Why don't you say some Yeah, early on we were
- 43:04Speaker 4: talking about the when he's interacting with the chimp. But
- 43:06Speaker 4: when he's like the the stage manager guys like, I'm
- 43:10Speaker 4: putting Mitzi the champ in your spot. Yeah, he just
- 43:12Speaker 4: turns to her and goes you backstabbing bitch.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Yeah, funny. That cracked me up.
- 43:18Speaker 4: So good, I really really was.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:21Speaker 4: I loved that a lot. And then they're talking about
- 43:24Speaker 4: a quick British history you know, a lesson. He's like,
- 43:28Speaker 4: after failing to give him a son, Henry the Eighth
- 43:30Speaker 4: had Anne Bolin look into adoption beheaded. Jeez, this is
- 43:35Speaker 4: a tough country.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Adoption.
- 43:42Speaker 3: That was pretty great.
- 43:46Speaker 4: The all the headlines are really funny, like that is
- 43:48Speaker 4: such an English thing to have, like these, you know,
- 43:51Speaker 4: rymy silly headlines, right, it seems like they love that.
- 43:55Speaker 3: But the one that I really liked was from Uncle
- 43:57Speaker 3: Sam to buck Ham.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Yeah it's pretty great. Yeah, that was pretty great. And
- 44:08Speaker 4: also when they are on their first date when she
- 44:11Speaker 4: comes to the Buckingham Palace or whatever, he like looks
- 44:15Speaker 4: around at all the people in the room and he
- 44:17Speaker 4: just goes, well, at least it's just the seven of us.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Crazy that a lot.
- 44:24Speaker 3: That was good.
- 44:29Speaker 4: I have a couple more, But does anyone else have
- 44:31Speaker 4: any of they want to say.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I got a couple. When when he's saying that he
- 44:35Speaker 3: can make some changes around it was like, yeah, I
- 44:38Speaker 3: have a few ideas and said is like, we'll put
- 44:41Speaker 3: the the lure industry on full standby. That was pretty
- 44:46Speaker 3: that I didn't catch for sure.
- 44:48Speaker 5: I like Dysentery and his friends, Yeah, watching the TV
- 44:55Speaker 5: from outside with their purple hair.
- 44:58Speaker 3: He has like two of a middle finger on his
- 45:02Speaker 3: forehead right here.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Ow.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I love that his name was disentering.
- 45:08Speaker 3: That was good. Lord show some national pride or whatever.
- 45:12Speaker 3: She said, Well, I like the geese are all right? Yeah, yeah,
- 45:18Speaker 3: they were great. That. I like when you just see
- 45:22Speaker 3: him smiling as like, oh bowler before he pitches always
- 45:27Speaker 3: like that and then yeah, just a sweet one. Uh
- 45:33Speaker 3: it's I who should be who should be thanking you?
- 45:35Speaker 3: You showed me how to be a king. It's like me,
- 45:38Speaker 3: I was a lousy king. Says on the contrary, you
- 45:41Speaker 3: are a good and decent man, and you've acted honorably.
- 45:44Speaker 3: I shall try to follow your example. Yeah.
- 45:47Speaker 4: I thought that was Yeah, it was wonderful actor saying
- 45:51Speaker 4: that lie this silly movie which looks so fun It
- 45:55Speaker 4: was good. I loved that. That's all I had, though
- 45:58Speaker 4: I have one more. It's when he's like, well, gas
- 46:02Speaker 4: mile is fine. But keep in mind the first question
- 46:05Speaker 4: any car buyer asked themselves is will this get me?
- 46:12Speaker 3: That was so funny.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Yeah, those are the ones I had, though it.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Was quite nice. Well, let's move on over to the
- 46:24Speaker 3: crying game. I picked three, but I think they're kind
- 46:30Speaker 3: of all at the end, and so you might have
- 46:33Speaker 3: just been like, from here on is one, but I'll
- 46:38Speaker 3: give you my three. During the coronation when he named Cedric,
- 46:44Speaker 3: it's long lived Cedric the first absolutely, Then that scene
- 46:50Speaker 3: that I'd quoted saying bye to Cedric who says he'll
- 46:54Speaker 3: try to be as good of a king as he.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Was, and you pretty much nail that. Kind of put
- 46:57Speaker 4: those two together because they're rather very question.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 3: And then another one very close to that is when
- 47:03Speaker 3: he goes and meets Miranda at or work wants to
- 47:06Speaker 3: start off. Yep, totally.
- 47:08Speaker 4: I did kind of count this.
- 47:09Speaker 3: All those are my Yeah, nice, that was all I had.
- 47:13Speaker 4: Uh, there was just one more, and it was I
- 47:17Speaker 4: can't see myself making it with making it here without you, Miranda.
- 47:21Speaker 4: And then they smooch for the first time.
- 47:23Speaker 3: I thought that was.
- 47:24Speaker 4: Just so sweet and lovely.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Yeah nice it.
- 47:30Speaker 4: Yeah, so two or four depending on how you count
- 47:33Speaker 4: my kids, but I think you nailed it, and thank you.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Let's go and do a little movie trivia now. According
- 47:41Speaker 4: to an interview with John Goodman in ninety one, he
- 47:47Speaker 4: talked about he denied that his new leading man status
- 47:51Speaker 4: in this movie, and he said he was still just
- 47:53Speaker 4: a character actor, and then he said, don't call me
- 47:55Speaker 4: a leading man. This is just another part with a
- 47:58Speaker 4: lot more lines. The only difference from me this time
- 48:00Speaker 4: was I didn't have time to fool around when I
- 48:03Speaker 4: wasn't working. When you're the leading man, you're meeters running
- 48:05Speaker 4: all the time, and you're always working. There's no goof
- 48:08Speaker 4: off time, which I thought was funny. And I was like, yeah,
- 48:12Speaker 4: it's probably true. Paycheck's gotta be better, though, right, I mean,
- 48:15Speaker 4: gott about it be John Goodman. I don't think this
- 48:19Speaker 4: was in question, but just to confirm. He did all
- 48:20Speaker 4: his own singing, which was really fun. Yeah right, you know,
- 48:25Speaker 4: I'm not surprised, but it was good.
- 48:27Speaker 3: It was fun, it was entertaining.
- 48:30Speaker 4: We said the Burger King thing, which is super cool
- 48:32Speaker 4: that that was his first acting performance was in a
- 48:34Speaker 4: Burger King commercial, which is fun.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Oh.
- 48:40Speaker 4: He began this work, began working on this movie shortly
- 48:43Speaker 4: after Roseanne had finished its second season of production, so
- 48:47Speaker 4: that was cool. So he was a busy man at
- 48:50Speaker 4: that point, probably because that show was huge.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Let's see. Oh, they talk about the type of air
- 48:59Speaker 4: that he is called the collateral air, which I had
- 49:02Speaker 4: never heard that term, which is kind of fun. Sometimes
- 49:06Speaker 4: family title and this is from Clark Fountain at All Movie.
- 49:12Speaker 4: I guess that's a website or publication or something, but
- 49:16Speaker 4: he talks about sometimes a family title among the nobility
- 49:19Speaker 4: of England goes to the collateral heirs, people not in
- 49:23Speaker 4: the direct line, like cousins, great nephews and the like.
- 49:26Speaker 4: On rare occasions, these people are not even aware they're
- 49:29Speaker 4: about to be elevated to the House of Lords specifically,
- 49:32Speaker 4: and there they've been living more or less ordinary lives
- 49:37Speaker 4: and then they'll just get called up in there all
- 49:39Speaker 4: of a sudden they're a bigger deal socially, which is
- 49:41Speaker 4: kind of fun. That's kind of interesting to hear about that. Yeah,
- 49:46Speaker 4: let's see. In the beginning of the movie, in the
- 49:49Speaker 4: scene where John Goodman is in the dressing room getting fired,
- 49:53Speaker 4: he says, what because I wouldn't sing the Impossible Dream.
- 49:57Speaker 4: This is a reference to Peter O'Toole in A Man
- 50:00Speaker 4: of La Mancha in nineteen seventy two. Peter O'Toole sang
- 50:04Speaker 4: the song the Impossible Dream.
- 50:06Speaker 3: I caught that very well. I didn't at the time,
- 50:09Speaker 3: but that was my first show I ever did. Oh yeah, sure,
- 50:14Speaker 3: we did Mana la Mancha when I was in eleventh grade.
- 50:17Speaker 3: That was my first time saying So I watched that
- 50:20Speaker 3: Peter O'Toole version a bunch of time, sit down my
- 50:25Speaker 3: audition songs and stuff. So I know that version very
- 50:29Speaker 3: I remember that.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a good guy to copy.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it worked out everywhere.
- 50:35Speaker 4: That's great. The Trees in Act of seventeen oh two,
- 50:39Speaker 4: which is what King Ralph uses to get Lord Percival
- 50:42Speaker 4: Graves arrested, is an actual act of Parliament and acted
- 50:45Speaker 4: in the last year of William the Third's reign. It
- 50:48Speaker 4: made it a capitol offense to attempt to prevent the
- 50:50Speaker 4: successor of the crown from properly taking the throne. Eventually,
- 50:54Speaker 4: in nineteen ninety eight, the punishment was changed from death
- 50:57Speaker 4: to life imprisonment. So don't don't try to affect the lineage.
- 51:03Speaker 3: Don't do it, uh, And then it doesn't matter.
- 51:09Speaker 4: The real royal family name Windsor was changed the fictional
- 51:13Speaker 4: name of Wyndham for this wind and you'll see and
- 51:16Speaker 4: I noticed this at least one one or two times,
- 51:19Speaker 4: but unsyncd lip movements in a few parts, most notably
- 51:23Speaker 4: the abdication scene seemed to suggest that the change was
- 51:26Speaker 4: made after the movie was shot and they just dubbed
- 51:29Speaker 4: that in a little bit. So not a big deal,
- 51:31Speaker 4: but I thought that was interesting.
- 51:33Speaker 3: That is interesting.
- 51:34Speaker 4: That was like a lawyer thing, like, Uh, we don't
- 51:36Speaker 4: want them to think that we're saying it's them or something,
- 51:39Speaker 4: right right, Who knows, But that was all I had, Rob, Yeah, I.
- 51:43Speaker 3: Had a couple, uh, kind of what you alluded to earlier.
- 51:47Speaker 3: This was the first top build starring role of John
- 51:49Speaker 3: Goodman on movie posters. The part was also Goodman's first
- 51:53Speaker 3: soul name above the title billing, so this was kind
- 51:58Speaker 3: of the beginning for him as a leading man. And
- 52:01Speaker 3: there were a couple of people that were considered. Apparently
- 52:04Speaker 3: the script was originally written with Bill Murray in mind,
- 52:08Speaker 3: which probably could have worked. It would have been a
- 52:13Speaker 3: very different movie, but for sure it would have been
- 52:15Speaker 3: really funny, I'm sure. And another guy considered was John Candy,
- 52:20Speaker 3: which absolutely would have worked as well.
- 52:23Speaker 4: You could have almost just exactly swapped them one for
- 52:26Speaker 4: one and not even made a lot of changes. That's
- 52:29Speaker 4: pretty crazy.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Yeah, he ended up co starring in a terrible movie
- 52:33Speaker 3: called Nothing but trouble. Yeah that. Oh but and it
- 52:39Speaker 3: actually premiered on the same day, which is interesting. That's
- 52:41Speaker 3: crazy as King Ralph.
- 52:43Speaker 5: That is.
- 52:44Speaker 3: But yeah, that was all I had.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Nice You guys had all the ones I had read.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Nice Sweet, Well then Judgment Day. Will there be a sequel?
- 52:56Speaker 4: Yeah, George, the second has got to come up at
- 52:58Speaker 4: some point.
- 52:59Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, yeah, I mean I would definitely watch if
- 53:04Speaker 3: they remain.
- 53:06Speaker 4: I mean there's an argument Princess Diaries is close.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Is it, like, I don't really know the.
- 53:14Speaker 4: H Yeah, yeah, in a way because she's she's kind
- 53:17Speaker 4: of plucked out of obscurity. She doesn't know they're trying
- 53:21Speaker 4: to convince her. It's the similar but different, you know,
- 53:24Speaker 4: like learning etiquette and all those things.
- 53:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I was gonna say they could definitely remake this
- 53:31Speaker 3: with somebody if they wanted to.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Yeah, instead of a sequel, make the same movie over.
- 53:37Speaker 6: Yeah, right, that does seem more likely for sure, because
- 53:43Speaker 6: you know it would have to be younger, different players.
- 53:48Speaker 6: So many of the ones in this movie are gone
- 53:51Speaker 6: now yeah.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, for sure. Man, Yeah, but you could still
- 53:55Speaker 3: have you could still have John Goodman in there. Then
- 53:59Speaker 3: get somebody to play.
- 54:00Speaker 4: It'd be fun if he was the said that'd be neat.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Well, but he's the duke right, Oh yeah, he's the
- 54:07Speaker 3: duke now. Yeah, and that was fun. That was another
- 54:12Speaker 3: fun ending credits. We got to do that as a
- 54:15Speaker 3: as a top five something now. But I need to
- 54:17Speaker 3: start keeping a list of the cool ones. I know
- 54:21Speaker 3: someone probably has.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Done an article on him at some point.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, sweet, Well what do you guys think? Do
- 54:28Speaker 3: you want to play a game?
- 54:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 54:31Speaker 3: I decided to make a quotes game for this fun
- 54:35Speaker 3: where I'm going to give you a quote from a
- 54:37Speaker 3: film and when you know it, you're going to ring
- 54:39Speaker 3: in with your name, and you're gonna give me three
- 54:41Speaker 3: things for three points. You're going to give me the
- 54:44Speaker 3: name of the film, you're gonna give me the character
- 54:47Speaker 3: name saying the quote, and the actor playing that character.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Love it.
- 54:53Speaker 3: If you get any of those wrong, the other person
- 54:56Speaker 3: can steal for a point. And all of these films
- 55:00Speaker 3: have something in common. When you know the theme, you
- 55:03Speaker 3: can ring it at anytime for a point. Fun.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Last time we did this, I got one point.
- 55:11Speaker 3: We'll get ready.
- 55:11Speaker 4: Fifty at least two tonight.
- 55:14Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I think I think you're gonna do good.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Just if you have even a little bit of an
- 55:19Speaker 3: inkling call in because bugs is quick and he's he's
- 55:25Speaker 3: the first part. He's so quick, very very bad. Everybody says,
- 55:33Speaker 3: I've heard that. Yeah, yeah, that's going around town. It's
- 55:36Speaker 3: going run. Are you guys ready? Number one? You should
- 55:43Speaker 3: see the toast. I couldn't even get it through the door.
- 55:47Speaker 4: He went, we're playing Adam.
- 55:51Speaker 3: I like it. There we go, Yes, Dad, you got
- 55:54Speaker 3: to name the movie the actor?
- 55:57Speaker 2: Yes, John Candy, Yeah, Uncle Buck?
- 56:01Speaker 3: Sure? Do you remember Buck's last name?
- 56:06Speaker 2: Melanoma?
- 56:08Speaker 3: And I wrote down It's either Buck Russell or Buck.
- 56:13Speaker 3: I want to remember that. So nice. That's three points
- 56:17Speaker 3: on it. All right, let's go to number two. Went

- 57:57Speaker 2: I don't blame you.
- 58:00Speaker 3: All right. Number four, this is a good one. Gimme, gimme, gimmey.
- 58:05Speaker 3: I need, I need, I need, yes Dad.
- 58:10Speaker 2: The movie was What About Mom?
- 58:14Speaker 3: Correct?

- 58:22Speaker 4: Bob Do you ever know Bob's name?
- 58:24Speaker 3: I don't think we do. I don't think Bob. We
- 58:26Speaker 3: we get doctor leomarvin, but I.

- 58:35Speaker 3: I need, I need you. Yes, I said, good warning
- 58:41Speaker 3: you all right? So, uh, I figured my dad would
- 58:45Speaker 3: have a good chance on those four. So I kind
- 58:47Speaker 3: of was kind of helping out here. Let's see how
- 58:51Speaker 3: we do. Number five. Oh yeah, you blend I bet
- 58:57Speaker 3: the Chinese food here is terrible.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Oh god, oh yeah, you blend bugs bukes my cousin

- 59:54Speaker 3: give it to you. Your name is Mona Lisa Vitola Vito. Yeah,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: but that's two points for you. It's nice job. Uh
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: where are we after five? It's got twelve? I've got two?
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: This is crazy. Also, can I guess the theme? Yes
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: you can, of course.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: I think the title of the movie contains the lead character's.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Name more specific than that, a man's name. So far,
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: it's first Nile Buck. It's just the name I didn't know. Yep, yep,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: just the first name. So there will be no last name.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: So you're not getting like a forest Gump or anything
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: like that. It's just the first name. So we'll see.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: We'll see how this goes. Number six Hail to the chief.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: He's the one we all say hail to, we all

- 1:00:58Speaker 3: the songs Ale to the chiefs. Yes, he's Jack. It
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: is not well, it's God.
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: What is it from?
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: They're both presidents? I don't know? Mo, Yeah, what is it?
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: What is it? It is? Dave Nice he's in the
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: shower singing. Yes.
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: I was thinking, yeah, what's the movie?
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: What? Oh?
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead for the president.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and his name is mister President Bukes.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: But probably his name is there. It is there, you go.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: That's what I was looking for. The What are you
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: trying to say? Aboudy?
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: There's a movie where it's I think it's Jack Lemon
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: and a different guy are former presidents and they talk about.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: My fellow Americans. Wasn't it him? And like James Garner?
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: I think it was. Yeah, they have a they talk
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: about they made up words for that song and stuff.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: So that was the one. I went to. Dave in
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: the shower, got you?
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: Yeah? Was that? Another three? For so good? That was
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: another three? He's killing me. This one might be tough.

- 1:02:19Speaker 3: not that kind of angel.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Brad, Yes, welcome by the character Clarence.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: No, it's not that one.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: It's not.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: It's not it's a wonderful life. No, it's got to
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: have a first name in the title, so it is
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: not that. But that does sound like something you might
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: even say that any idea of bugs. It sounds really familiar.
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: It's not the new one with Keanu Reeves, is it.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: It's not that one I think is called good for Okay.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: I think he says something similar to that. That was why.

- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Not that I remember any quotes apparently.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a tough one. I was thinking maybe quoting
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: the pie song that Andy Howell does, because I always
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: thought that was cute. That's about all I remember from
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: that movie. But all right, let's keep going shute. This
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: should be this should be easier than the last one.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Number eight And in case I don't see you, good afternoon,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: good evening, and good night. Bukes.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: Oh oh, that is his first name, The Truman Show,
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: The Truman Show, Truman.
