- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: You're listening to Mile High Insiders.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you very much for joining us.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, that is not Luke Patterson sitting next to me.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: It is Lance Sanderson.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Luke is out under the weather today.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: So Luke Lance has been gracious enough to join Mile High Insiders.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry about that.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: So Lance, welcome to the show.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a while since we have talked.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: And in fact, it may have been so long that we haven't even talked this season with all the success that's going on with the Broncos.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: So how are you doing and how are you feeling about this Broncos team?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Doing good, man.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad to be here on a Wednesday.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: The last time we got a chance to talk face to face, we were at the meet and greet for the Giants game.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: But no, we haven't got a chance to sit down on the pie and talk some football and it's been, it's been.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: a long time.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I don't remember the last time we got a chance to do that, but I'm doing good.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Had to miss last week, unfortunately, I had a funeral to attend with my family, so it was a good time.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm here to, I'm excited to be here on a wonderful Wednesday.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: Talks from Denver Broncos.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about the number one seed.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about the first round by and all the news and notes that's going around.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited to be here, buddy.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for having me.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: And it has been a long time since the Broncos has had any sort of success.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: So it really is a long time coming.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I know last year they went to the playoffs, but I mean, it's been quite a turnaround.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll get into that.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get your take on what's going on.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: But first let's jump in and say hello to some folks in the chat.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: We got David coming in, David.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for the super chat coming in saying good evening, Broncos country.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, good evening to you, too, David.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for joining and thank you for the support really appreciate it.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see, anybody else who else jumped in here early, we've got, I think that's the good.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Kevin, jump in and say, good evening.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Broncos Country, thank for being here.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Pearl Header is great to see you.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for being here as well, really appreciate it.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: uh... uh... so we've got uh... suicide jump dance who gipsen
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for jumping in here, really appreciate that.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you very much for joining the show again.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Looks out under the weather, Lance is joining in.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: This is mile high inside.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: As we've got Scott in the background, taking care of things.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to jump in here, well, I mean, the big news really is, obviously after they secured the number one seed, and I'm sure everybody's been talking about it, but the big news is, of course, people are trying, other teams are trying to
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: Sean Payton's developed a pretty decent staff around him.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: They've had some success.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, they're going to come looking for those coordinators or even assistant coaches for roles on their team and two of them have the two names have popped up right away that are really sought after.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: So we got Davis Webb, Vance Joseph, both of them are
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, going to be interviewing, I think Vance Joseph has four interviews lined up and not sure about Davis Web, but tell let's talk a little bit about that.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: What are your feelings and also where do you think the best fit for those those two coaches if they do get ahead coaching job.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's start with Vance Joseph first and foremost, this was the news that broke on my belief.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was yesterday that he was going to be having four interviews.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it's the Falcons, Giants, Titans, and Raiders are the four teams that have requested interviews with Vance Joseph for this week.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he interviewed with the Raiders today.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: if I do remember correctly.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: So with those four teams, I think that probably the best situation for him would be, I think that that New York job is a really good fit for him.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: With all the defensive line talented to have a front with cave on Tibito with Abdul Akarder, the number two overall pick from this last year's draft.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: They also have Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: They've got a lot of talent up front me to
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: sure up that lineback for position, but they've invested a lot in the corner back position as well.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Got a young rookie quarterback in.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: If the rumors are true, they're too sick if he does get a job is probably going to be bringing Davis Webb with him as his offensive coordinator.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: So you've got an athletic quarterback with a big arm, a guy that can kind of sling the rock all over the place and he's to learn how to protect himself a little bit.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: But to me, I think that that giant shop should be very enticing to him.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And right after that, you got to go to, I think it's a Tennessee Titan shop.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: That one is another one.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Again, rookie quarterback in Cam Ward, a lot of pieces are starting to build in the right direction.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: They've got a plethora of high draft picks again this year.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't remember their defensive talent off the top of my head.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: I know that they had heroin injury for a while, and I'm not going to go through all the names or nothing like that with the Titans.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: But those two teams, I think, are probably the,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: The best two jobs for him right now, Arizona, makes a lot of sense for him as well.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think they go defensive coach back to back.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: And then Atlanta's tough, because they don't have a first round pick this year.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have very much salary calf space.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they've got a lot of pieces in place with brake London, B. John Robinson.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what happens with Michael Pentech's junior.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: They've got Kyle Pitch who had a kind of a breakout season this year.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: defensive pieces as well.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: So that would be that.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then I would avoid the radar job like the plague.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's there's too much uncertainty there.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of turmoil that big article from ESPN earlier today.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of how I would break it if it was for me, for bench Joseph, what do you think, dude?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've said I've like the Tennessee Titans job for Vince Joseph one.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's I think is attainable because I I really think that they kind of lament getting rid of rabble defense more defensive mind and coach and the success that he is having in New England.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they might lean a little bit towards the defensive side, even because they had an offensive coach that came in and failed this last time in Cal and so I like that job because I think it's one that he can get.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Also, I think that you've got Cam Ward, he didn't have a great season, but he's got the tools.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's got the tools to do, you know, be a pretty good quarterback.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a great cap situation.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: They have, you know, high draft pick.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they, when I was talking about I thought they're going to have the number one draft choice, you know, back when I started talking about.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: So they could trade out of there and really bolster that defense.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have a very good defense.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: They got Simmons who is a great defensive tackle.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: uh... ventures of good do a lot with him i think they need to go out and get themselves a good ad russia uh... and then you know trying bolster with that you the rest of those uh... areas of need with the free agency so i think
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: When I look at the Tennessee Titans job, it comes to the top for me because I think it's a pretty decent organization.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're set up that if they can hit on a few things that they can turn that around fairly quickly, it kind of gives him the best chance to really start winning after his, you know, the first stint where he, you know, came to the Broncos, we all know how that turned out.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, I'm going to the Titans first, then the Giants and you're right.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Arizona and
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: the Raiders jobs I would I would not take either one of those personally, but I mean I if they gave me the offer me the job absolutely if I'm advanced Joseph she's I would try and go to the other two first for sure Yeah, absolutely and Pearl jumping in here saying I was supposed to surprise to see Harbaw fired and that's gonna be the biggest domino obviously in this John Harbaw the Head coach of the Baltimore Ravens obviously getting a pink slip was really kind of one of those super surprising moves to me.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: I I
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of heard some things that it was possibly gonna happen, but I didn't really think they were actually gonna pull the trigger.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, does one feel a goal change the fate of two head coaches?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, because if that was made, is it Mike Tomlin we're talking about today and not John Harwell, you know what I mean?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: But we got David Young can jump it in here really fast with a $5 super chat saying, Sean Lath, the team ready regardless of the interviews going on.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to touch on this really fast.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm glad that Scott pulled this up because we were kind of talking about this before we went live, you know,
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: The the Broncos are getting these coaches and they have all these interviews all this week, but they don't have any preparation to do.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Who are they playing?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know why they ended to focus on the game.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Let's these guys go have a couple hours of data go and maybe advance their careers a little bit.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, obviously you need to let your folks, the people that you've groomed for that next step, go have that opportunity.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know that there's, you know, there can be some sort of preparation going on, but, you know, they don't live there 24-7.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're not constantly prepping.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't, it doesn't bother me.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if it was midweek when they were going to play somebody, I'd be pretty disappointed in it, which they really don't allow anyway.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: If that were the case, yeah, I would be a little bit of set, but this is the by week.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's kind of away getting healthy and the coaches are probably starting to kind of retool and think about what they really want to do in the playoffs.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, it doesn't bother me at all.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a great move.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: And again, guys, like,
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of these interviews, maybe 20 years ago, or 20, 30 years ago, it would have been more of an issue, especially with the travel that teams would either have to come to Denver and be allowed to go into the facility or find a dinner somewhere, they go to L-Ways or Shannands or whatever place in Denver to go find dinner and have that interview.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's like an hour and a half or three hour interview like tops, and it's all on Zoom.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have to leave the comfort of their own home to be able to do these interviews.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that big of a deal, especially in
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: 2026 now.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: So, no, I mean, let these guys go out there and try to advance their careers.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I just hope that VJ doesn't end up in Las Vegas, because he's already shown that he can turn a defense around.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: He did it with the Arizona Cardinals for a handful of years.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: He made this defense, which already had a lot of pieces and started into a top five unit, if not the best unit in the NFL.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't want to see him twice a year.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's for sure.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, hopefully not, but yeah, I just don't want to wish that on anybody they comes from Denver to go to take that right here.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a mess.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: That place has been a mess for years.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they haven't had any sort of success other than one trip to the playoffs since, you know, the early 2000s, the tuck rule, that kind of, that kind of time frame.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know that Brady is there, you know, doing the, you know, partial GM, so to speak, but partial owner, whatever you want to call it, but, you know, it's still a mess with what it's been a mess for years and it takes a long time to turn that around.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully he doesn't go there.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: But my guess is, I mean, whoever, I think Tom, not Harbot moves up to the top of the list,
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: for him to, for me to sit there and go, man, I can't believe they're firing him because they're gonna have a hard time replacing his coaching building.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now I know he has not had a lot of success in the playoffs over the last, you know, 10 seasons that he's coached.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Still, he still, he's been to the playoffs twice out of the last three years and again, missed the playoffs by a field goal again for the third year in a row.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, mm-hmm.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's kind of like one of those things where, you know, John Fox getting fired after Peyton Manning helped him go, you know, 13 and 3, 12 and 4 all those years and then bring somebody else in.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: But it wasn't that the ravens were that close, right?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Harba goes to the top of the list.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: If Tom was the one to get fired, I think he'd go to the top of the list, both good coaches.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because then you know what you've got really, you've got successful winning coaches,
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, where you, when you take a shot at like Davis Webb or advanced Joseph, you're really it's kind of an unknown quantity and so I think some of these teams that really need to turn there that have been.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: really bad for a while like the Raiders.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to go with somebody like that as opposed to trying again.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: I know they went with Pete Carroll.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Guys, it's past his time.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to bring, I think Harba probably is high on their list, whether he wants it or not, I don't know.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not sure what their list looks like.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: I've heard a bunch of rumors about Brian Flora's potentially being the guy and maybe like a Brian Dable has an offensive coordinator.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: There's been a couple of different things I've heard about that for the Raider specifically.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, Brian Flora is with the attacking mindset.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it doesn't that just scream Raider football from like the 1970s and 80s, like where they were just.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: Violet and beat the hell out of you every single weekend.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Brian for his does.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean he's he's gonna run heavy man coverage Blitz the hell out of you and try to get after your quarterback.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna play a very physical brand of defense and
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes a lot of sense in my mind that maybe yeah, it's a it's a retread defensive coach and you don't want to go in that same direction, like you just did with with Pete Carroll, but Brian Flores right now is one of the top defensive coordinators in the NFL and if you can try to figure out the defensive side of the football with with the with the national gentie and a Brock Bowers on that side on the offensive side of the football go find another weapon, maybe rebuild that offensive line and find a quarterback.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you can have a lot of success there in Las Vegas.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and sometimes it's better to get that hungry young coach, you know, that wants to come out and really put his mark on and speaking of hungry, have you heard of gold belly?

- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: Goldbelly.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: So we talked a little bit of answer about Van Chose.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: But the actual what we really wanted to talk about, which is not a big surprise to me about him having interest, but it is a little bit of surprise.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: And that's Dave's web.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's a young coach, you know, just really got his start with Sean Payton.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: And but he is a sought after coach now.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they, they're, they're talking about him as a head coach position.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: And man, that's a kind of a jump from, he's not really an offensive coordinator.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: He kind of is a passing game coordinator is more of an assistant coach.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't call the plays.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: I know he did in preseason once, but what do you think about his shot
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, again, I kind of mentioned this at the open of the show.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like with Dave's wed, he's obviously one of those bright up incoming coach.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's only 30 years old for NFL quarterback.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's, I think it was a couple of coffee with the giants there for a minute.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mostly the quarterback development aspect and just the bright and young upcoming offensive mind which seems to be all the rage for the last what 15 years or 20 years maybe like these young developmental coaches that are just working their way up to the ranks.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that this interview that he had with the Raiders is really necessarily for the head coaching position, even though they said so I think it's more of a kind of feeling out as an offensive coordinator candidate and this, again, another set of eyes on a candidate that they are heavily linked to in best Joseph and already have interviews as well.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: You get an opportunity to talk about what vans Joseph's philosophy is on the defensive side of the football develop your offense and what you have with your offense, the side of the football and Davis web, and then be able to have both of those interviews to bounce back and forth and say, hey, you know, this is how we align with each other.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're killing two birds with one stone by having these two interviews.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like you get to have an entire, like this is the makeup of what our, of what our coaching staff is going to look like.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: from the onset and being able to talk with both of those guys right away, immediately to start the process is a really good idea by the Raiders.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I'm not showing away from the age, you know, being young because the ever progress have a history of a couple good offensive-minded young coaches coming Dan Reeves being one of Mike Shanahan and being another very young taking the helm.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: I know they also had a bad opportunity when it came to Josh McDaniels another young coach, but
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: For my perspective, Davis Webb seems more mature and more ready to take on something than a Josh Daniels did, even though he had a bit more experience as an offensive coordinator and things like that.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: But I think you might be right.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think people are still feeling Davis Webb out.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think it might be a year early for him.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: He might need one more year before they really start to
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Target him in earnest, but you also write when it comes to the offensive mind.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's all the rage now I mean, I remember listening seeing somebody talking about how Josh didn't make Daniel should be on the top of the list because he's an offensive mind And I just drove me nuts like I mean how many chances you're gonna give that guy to screw up your organization, but that is all the rage.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: We got the death of Flynn jumping on here right now.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: A member over on YouTube.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, make sure you get it over to YouTube.com slash mile.

- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: You guys get premium content like Broncos, Book Club, Kelvin, it's corner.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still working on, I'm spitting this idea that I really wanted to do for a while.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: called the 5280 view where we get people from outside of Bronco's country and we bring him on to a podcast talk about the game talk about just their feelings about the team in general, but that's where you can get all that.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: So make sure you guys go over.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: He just gifted five memberships over there on YouTube.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you the death of Flynn for that.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: We definitely appreciate that.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then Phil McLaughlin jumping in here saying good evening Thomas Lance, what's the story on Michael Deeter, Grant Christian, and Marseilles Lewis are latest signings
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: A couple minor roster transactions, Marseilles Lewis has been with the team for the majority of the season.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's been that blocking tight end.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: They waived him the other day.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was to bring Elinger up, but I don't remember the exact order of operations.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: They're just bringing these guys back onto the practice squad.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: Not going to see that you might see Marseilles Lewis elevated back up to the roster again to go back into that blocking tight end role where he's been really, really good.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I don't know if his changes when it gets to the playoffs, but I think Marcini's Lewis has used up all of his practice squad to roster moves.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: So if they do bring him up, they need to sign him to the actual roster.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so I don't know if you're going to see him, especially with Nate Atkins back in the fold.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: He, you know, it may just be, yeah, insurance, depth insurance just in case.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: So you may, you may not see Marcini's Lewis playing in the playoffs and let's something something else happens, at least not in the first game.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: That I'm not 100% certain of.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I do believe that things change.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know that I are rules change because I've heard something on the radio the other day.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Legwald from ESPN was saying that the by week in the playoffs, if you had a team that earns a first round by, that goes towards the weeks or the the games necessary.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have a player that goes on to an intro reserve,
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: So he was trying to look into that Eric and Nick and I kind of went back and forth on it.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: We come to find out today that rule was changed.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: The Detroit Lions actually proposed that rule and it was changed.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: So this by week does count as a game for teams that have the by week in the playoffs.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: So that changes the IR rules.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: You also get two more.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's two more practice squad call ups.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: and two more engineers reserve designations to be returned, going into the playoffs to get more players back.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I could be wrong on the practice squad once.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know the engineer's reserve rule is you get two more players that you can call up off of the engineer reserve in the playoffs.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there are two players that are on the injury reserve that the Bronx would love to have back for the playoffs.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: I highly doubt that either one of them are going to be back, dovans and Brandon Jones, but both of those players would be wonderful to have back.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Luke Wattenberg is another one that's went to IR that is a starter that they seem to be missing as well, which is weird because it's weird to say that they're really missing Luke Wattenberg when the start of the season everybody was like, hey, we need to replace Luke Wattenberg.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: There has been a difference in my opinion, a downgrade it's center from Wattenberg to Forsyth.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a few players that, man, they'd be really helpful to get back, but I don't know if they're gonna get any of them back any time soon.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Ralph jumping in here saying Luke, no, it's Tom and Lance Sanderson.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: Happy New Year, my friends.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm proud of our 14-3 Broncos and our undefeated MHH family this year.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, Ralph, and it was a pleasure to meet you at the meet and greet dude at Happy New Year to you as well Merry Christmas Happy Holidays to everybody out there Who had a great last couple of weeks.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys for joining us here on my Ohio handciders Yeah, Happy New Year, Ralph.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for joining and again like I keep I've been saying this for the last few weeks on these shows that talking about their wins and and they have tied
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: for the most wins in franchise history.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, that is a huge accomplishment.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: That means that was a good team.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know people have their doubts about them with the style of winning and they didn't just steam roll everybody through the season like the 98 Broncos did.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: When they went to, you know, 14 games,
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: But I can also see the other side too, Lance.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, a good team that won 14 games.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: But when I look at, there's some stuff that's missing still.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there's something that can come back to bite them in the playoffs.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about what's your thoughts on the quality of this team?
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: How far do you think they're going to actually go in the playoffs?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: But I think they can go to and win a Super Bowl.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I've been workshopping this take for a little while now.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it's going to really, I think, scare Broncos country a little bit, but also make them very, very happy for what I'm about to say.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: I actually believe that this team has more capability of going to and winning a Super Bowl than the 2015 team did.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: like 100%.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason why I say that is because I trust this offense more than I trust that offense with Brock Oswire and the corpse of Peyton Manning, triving out there.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Bonaix hasn't even gotten to the Super Bowl or hasn't even gotten to the playoffs yet.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's already throwing for more yards, more touchdowns and less interceptions in Brock Oswire and Peyton Manning did to bind.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: The running game is not quite as good, but it's still efficient enough.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: There's seventh in success rate running the football this year.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really good running game in terms of success rate.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't add up to a lot of yards because you're not breaking a lot of tackles.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: You've got the, I think it's a fifth highest yards before contact per attempts.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: So you're getting pushed down the field.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's consistent.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: It works as well as it possibly can.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: They just, they get a lot of long drives.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is, everyone wants to see the gotty point numbers.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: this playing their B team this last week.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: As some of this team is, they're just consistent, they're efficient, they're effective, they do what they need to do, and maybe inconsistent sometimes, but like in terms of like three and outs and stuff like that.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: But when they move the football, they put themselves in the scoring range, and they do put points on the board.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is, and this is the one thing that I think is going to hold this team back from being able to go to and win a Super Bowl, is in the playoffs, you can't kick field goals.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: You need to end drives in the end zone, as often as you possibly can.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: And the Broncos over the last two weeks, they've had long sustained drives.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: Go back to the Raiders game as well.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'd go back to the Green Bay game where they had a lot of explosive plays, but multiple different long scoring drives.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: They finished a lot of those drives against Green Bay in the end zone.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Those other games that I just mentioned, they kicked a bunch of field goals.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: They got themselves into the red zone and they just can't finish over about the last month and a half.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: They've been one of the worst red zone offenses in the NFL in terms of conversion percentage over the last five weeks.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the biggest thing that you need to focus on if you're Sean Payton is trying to figure out what is bogging this offense down in the red zone because they get to the red zone at a fairly decent rate.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: They just haven't been converting very well over the last handful of weeks.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll say this, the 2015 team, that defense was elite enough to drag a terrible offense to a Super Bowl.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you a question, how did they do that?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: How did they drag that team to the Super Bowl?
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: So one thing that this defense doesn't do this year.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the turnover is one, the takeways.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: That was huge.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my next point.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a couple of things.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm with you on, they have the talent, they've got the coaching, they have, I think Bonaix is a good enough quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: There's two things that have plagued them all year that I think will, if it comes back to bite them in the playoffs, that's when, that's the worst time for it to happen.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, you just said it.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: They're not getting enough takeaways.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: You need to give an offense that is not that great more opportunities and they haven't been able to do that and that's been part of their problem, but the second one is they have made so many mental mistakes.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: all throughout the year.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: Those kind of things come back to bite you in a one and done situation.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what worries me.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: But again, I think they have the talent to go.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: They only have to win two games to make it to the Super Bowl.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: Two games.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's the that is the privilege and the benefit of earning that number one seed.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, and it's on your home turf.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: So that
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: that right there gives in the advantage of getting to the Super Bowl.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I think, yeah, I'm with you.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's like, yeah, I think they can do it, but there's also got, I got some doubts in there, whether or not they can.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I'm really anxious to see who their first opponent is in the playoffs and just, you know, watch that transpire.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: And once we see that, because they're battle tested, they know how to win when it, when it, they know what it takes to win.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: you know, they've come from behind.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: They won the one score games, the most in NFL history, one score games they won in the season.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: So they're ready.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: They know how to win.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's just whether or not they can overcome some of their what I would call warps on the team.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think the bigger thing here and turnovers are so volatile.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's hard to predict and say that this team, they've shown this year that they haven't had the ability to get that strip sack to force an interception.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: They got one against the, they got a pick six obviously gets the charges this last week.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: Not really on the gofflin.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: Millen.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Millen.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: I do that all the time.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: I do that all the time.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's literally like weekly occurrence for me to mix those two names up.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: Tip pass went right to him.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was a great return.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Great play.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: The thing is, if you're on the positive side of the turnover margin, which the Broncos have been for the majority of the season is like they don't create a lot of turnovers, but they don't, they don't give the ball away either, they do the right little things and yes, the mental mistakes execution, I think is the bigger thing that I have the worries about for this team in the playoffs and if they can't go out and execute, especially if you get some employment weather and it sounds like Denver probably is going to get snow on Saturday night of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of the, of
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: their first playoff game and into Sunday.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: So there could be income at weather there.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: We've already seen Bonix not be able to play in windy conditions.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: If there's snow on the ground, what does that mean?
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: So there's there's always concerns the injury concerns if you can get Brandon Jones back, which doesn't sound like that's going to be a possibility maybe JK Dobbins is able to come back for that divisional round sounds more likely that he's going to be back for the
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: I just firmly believe right now that with the way that this team is playing and they have this identity about them.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: They just, they've proven everybody wrong.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: over and over and over and over and over again and everyone's saying the bone next is in a great quarterback and that this offense is unsustainable.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: You can't win games like this when it comes to the playoffs.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: That remains to be seen.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: But they won 14 games for the second time in franchise history winning one score tight games and finding ways to win a game every single time that they need to.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Outside of that Jaguar's game, which was the worst game that that defense has played literally all season, they've proven every single doubt or wrong since week three.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: Get out of me with this.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: I have full blown confidence Brock has can get to and win a Super Bowl because they've established this identity of a gritty, nasty, resilient team that overcomes all kinds of adversity every single week and they do it repeatedly, over and over and over again and I don't see why people can't see that.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah, and they're a good team.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing that I like to about, about Bonix is he seems like a preparation type of quarter max.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: So this is a by week being able to have that extra time because I think he looks terrible on the short weeks.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Thursday night games, he doesn't look very good, but when he has that extra time to really prepare, I think he looks,
- 30:17[SPEAKER_00]: much, much better.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that first game out of the gate, you're going to see a better bone next than if it was like a shorter time frame.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they'll be prepared.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: I just, yeah, again, it's just those, if they, if they can get those takeaways and they can reduce those mental mistakes, then they can play, they can play with anybody and they can, like you said, they can, they can win a Super Bowl.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 30:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm with you on that, but it still remains to be seen how good this team can be in the playoffs.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: And we've got a couple weeks to wait before we're going to find that out for sure.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want to just give this shout out quickly to really odds we're in jumping and saying, good evening, Lance Thomas.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just just as nervous about this team as my wife's heart serves you tomorrow, hate waiting rooms and really the prayers out to you and your wife, man.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for joining us.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's a break from reality for a couple minutes.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I always say that's on Friday, like to get away from the real world talk some football for a little bit is always great.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: So Roy, thinking about you when you're wife, hopefully everything goes well.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: keep me updated.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: We text all the time.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Just keep me updated on how everything's going and again, thanks for joining us buddy.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I'm sorry, Perse, and hopefully everything goes well.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, thanks for thanks for coming in, but everybody that is in the chat just to have him in your thoughts, have his wife and your thoughts.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: So, thank you for that.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: Right, appreciate you being here, and yeah, let us know how it goes.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so Tom, I'm going to shift directions here because obviously we don't we don't have a game to break down this week.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: So Obviously you've got the charters going into New England to go play the Patriots.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Buffalo going to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: You've got the Houston Texans going to Pittsburgh to play the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: What matchup would you like to see the Broncos get out of this weekend and which team would you like to avoid?
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think I've got to completely different answers in you.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: I want to avoid the Houston Texans.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: Their defense is really, really good and with a really, really good defense in the playoffs and a quarterback who has shown in the past that he can be pretty darn good.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: For me, that's someone you want to, that's a team you don't want to get right out of the gate because those defenses in the playoffs, obviously, we saw with 2015 they can wreak havoc.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm a little bit leery of having them as the first game out.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to beat the Steelers.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to go to the next round.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: My choice, actually, I want to go up against the charges.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: I want it to be not a weak and charges team.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Broncos can beat them at home, even with a full slate of starters.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's who I hope is going to be there.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know if they're going to get past the Patriots.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: So you got the team that I want to see the most.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see the charges again.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: As much as I don't like playing a team a third time, it's obviously a divisional opponent, but this past rush going up against Justin Herbert and the amount of times that they can get after him is gonna be really, really fun to watch.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that with obviously with the, they're down what now four offensive tackles and a guard, I think that that offensive line is absolutely beat up.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm scared of that match up though.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see it just because I want to see them actually get that monkey off their back of not being able to beat Jim Harbaugh.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: And Sean Payton is always consistent.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: We struggle against Harbaugh.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Denver or damn near went to Los Angeles earlier this season.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was we three.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: It took a herkily and play, a play that is like a mind boggling thrill from Justin Herbert to Keenan now onto the did that game.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was tied at that point.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: that led to a game-winning field goal as time expired.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: Denver had the chargers on the ropes in that game.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was actually kind of a good game for Beau where he hit a couple of deep, I know he hit the one deep touchdown past the court and said, miss two different deep shots to mark one of our minutes, one to Troy Franklin.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: Denver had the chargers on the ropes already and then they went out and beat the absolute crap out of their backup
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: The team that I don't want to play though is the Buffalo Bills, that team terrifies me and Josh Allen's the biggest reason why and that running game, James Cook absolutely killed the Broncos in the playoffs last year and I could see them being able to get that ground game established even in Denver and if there's a snow game there could really gonna want to do that and they have the ability to grind down the game and then you need
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's already gone to other toe with CJ Shroud.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: They knocked him out of the game.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: The Brock was one that game.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's been toe to toe with Justin Herbert and Damned her one that football game too.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to see what happened last year with the Buffalo Bill is coming into Denver and putting belt to ask.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: You can give it, you can give it, you can give it to yourself, Tom.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: they are, they're definitely tested in the playoffs above those.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: I actually predicted, when Luke asked me a few weeks ago, who would be in the FC Championship game if the Broncos went?
- 35:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I said it would be the bill.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see if that, if that does come to fruition.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not as scared of the bills as I would have been last year.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that their defense is very soft.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think they've got a lot of holes on that team.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen has held them together and the running games kind of held them together.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're offensive line, not that spectacular anymore.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not as scared of them.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_00]: For me, it's the Texans because of the defense.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: The defense, like I said, the defenses can overcome a lot in the playoffs if they're playing really,
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: and you know keep a game close and you know who comes down to the wire.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why they do scare me.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I'm not I don't that's why I didn't want the chiefs in the playoffs though.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: A battle tested playoff contender, you know year over year, you know even if they're not that good, you don't you don't you never know what's going to happen with a good quarterback and that's you know you're you're right there with the bills.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and also, I don't want to see the bills because that means the Jaguars got eliminated.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to see that rematch in my Ohio high stadium.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: The Jaguars against the Broncos.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, again, it was the worst game that the Broncos played this entire season.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I guarantee you play that game in my Ohio Stadium seven times out of 10.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos are going to win it.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: I like those odds, I really do, and to me that's what I really want to see play out.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to see the charters go into New England, go beat the Patriots, come to Denver and get smacked, and then the bills play, or the bills lose to the Jaguars, the Jaguars play, either, I don't care who they play, they're going to win those games, and then they're going to come to Denver for a rematch of the one game that Casa Brocos from winning 17 straight to
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want to see.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so who's who's going to be the big shocker?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: Who's going to be the high-seat bump this this weekend?
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, New England.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: I honestly I think New England is the one team that I don't trust the most on either side of the bracket.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean The Seahawks are their their legit.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to bump this week.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: The two seed is the is it a Philadelphia or is it?
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, in the end of Cago.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's Chicago.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: So Chicago.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: I could see them losing to Green Bay pretty easily.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's a rivalry game there.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, it's an, it's actually a soldier field, but Jordan loves that been arrested for the last couple of weeks.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're starting to get some people back on that Green Bay offensive line.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: They're starting to get some green pieces back.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: defensively as well.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, it sucks to lose micaparsons, but that's a solid team, and they have a good opportunity to go into Chicago and be anybody there.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I would say the two seeds, both two seeds are likely to lose this week to tell you the truth.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: Philadelphia is probably going to win.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: We know that's
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: San Francisco, Philadelphia can lose this week too.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: San Francisco's plan really, really good football.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then who's the force he'd that would be the the the Panthers going against the Rams and that I believe that's probably going to be an upset too.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know if it's an upset even though the Panthers are the home team.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Rams should handle that, but I was with you.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: I was with you when it came to the Patriots for a long time.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: I thought, yeah, they don't scare me at all.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: They still really don't scare me, but I think they're a better team than people are giving them credit for.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, they had a soft schedule.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: If they had a tougher schedule, they may not have won as many games as they did.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: But they are still a pretty solid team.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they're in front of you.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sorry, I didn't mean to step on you.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say that you can only play the opponents that are in front of you.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, they are very well coach.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Mike Brable's up for coach of the year this year.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think so that I don't think he's going to get it.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: It should be Kyle Shannon.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: If we're actually being honest with each other.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: But the explosive nature of that offense in the playoffs, especially when the weather gets colder, with a drag may has been awesome.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: Don't keep me wrong.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: And they're pushing the ball down the field at Will.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: Foxboro's a nasty place to play in January.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we've all seen it before.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's brutal playing in Boston in January.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: So how does that, the weather dynamics affect the downfield verticality passing of that offense of attack?
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: There are defense of solid, but I think that if there is any team right now that can go and say we're just going to try it out physically you want on one in the trenches the chargers are definitely that especially on the offensive side of the football even if they're missing all those offensive by them and they still have a good running game so that's why I think that the chargers could probably win that game.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: what we're going to find out here in just a couple days so we'll find out who the Broncos opponent is so uh you know after after Sunday so we'll be uh we'll be monitoring that closely and then obviously we'll be uh previewing that uh first big
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: match up in mile high the first time that they have played a playoff game at home since 2015 and the first time that they, you know, have a legitimate shot of moving into the place.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: I did, I last year was kind of one of those years where yeah, they made it, but I didn't think they were going to go deep.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: This is a, this isn't exterior that where they are expected to go much deeper in the playoffs than they did last year.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking forward to it.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really I'm hoping that this season gets extended for the Broncos a while, but yeah, we'll definitely see that opponent is and we'll see and that's the other thing about the buy that's important is injuries happen in the playoffs.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: You never know is going to be injured, you know, it may be a team that is, you know, poised like the Jaguars, maybe they're, you know, they want a bunch of games in a row, but, you know, somebody goes down and then so they're not as, as, as, stout.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't like that.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like when somebody gets injured, but that's why you want to get that for it.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: With this new playoff schedule, you want that by more than anything, you know, when going to the playoffs.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's one of the B all end all things like to have first you get the week off to get your get your team healthy again, but you have the home field advantage, you have only two games to win before you get to the, to the, uh,
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: to the Super Bowl, you play the lowest remaining seed regardless of who it is coming out of the wild card round, like that number one seed is critical.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that with the way that Mile High Stadium is really kind of back around this football team over the course of this season and the loud environment, it's always been loud at Mile High, but
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: being at that giant scheme even when the Broncos were down that place was rocking.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's been crazy.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you see that the video is on YouTube and Facebook and Twitter of fans at the stadium that have like water bottles or like the guys in the press box have water bottles sitting on the table and they're like recording.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like the the Tia-Ranosaurus Rex from Jurassic Park where the water bottle is literally shaking because the stadium is literally
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: That same is built so well.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm I'm curious to see how the the new ownership group builds this new retractable roof stadium.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping they're going to be able to kind of recreate that environment, but
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: You got one of the last couple of seasons here at Mile High Stadium where you're going to have this home this home field environment that that home crowd advantage the altitude it's going to be awesome man I wish I could be down there it's going to be an absolute party and I would love to be able to go and be a part of that environment.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: We have 10 years of fans like pent up ready for some exciting ready for some winning and you know it's finally coming out they finally got a winner and so it's it's you know they're going to be loud I love it.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I love that it's a Denver and, you know, pretty soon we're not going to see that stadium and just like we didn't see the old mile high, which, you know, it was for me, that was a special place in my heart, but you know, teams move on, it's going to be a nice, luxurious stadium.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure and hopefully it'll still be the extremely loud, but.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_00]: So we're coming up on our final segment here.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have any questions, you really want to ask Lance or I, jump in there on the chats, shoot us some questions, but we're going to start wrapping up, talking about the coaching opportunities that the Broncos have.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: because of the winning ways, a lot of the, you know, you got players in the pro bowl.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is what comes from winning.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: You got coaches getting poached, free agents going to get poached.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I got a question for you, Lance.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_00]: Is I'm going to talk to you about it?
- 44:09[SPEAKER_00]: And what are your feelings on the free agency with Jonathan Franklin Myers?
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, so to me, I thought he should have been extended about four weeks ago, maybe six weeks ago.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: They need to get something done with that caliber of a player.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: But one, he's obviously playing one of the better seasons of his career.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's not quite as good as last year, but still really, really freaking good, man.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's a dominant force from that five technique.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's great from the four eye.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: He can play down to the three two if you need him to as well.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: can come around the edge if you want to try to get creative with him.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's stunts so well.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's great in terms of being that pick player on like tackle end stunts where we're going to attack the inside shoulder of the the offensive tackle, push him out of the way and then allow Nick Benito or Jonathan Cooper to wrap around his backside and shoot back up through the B gap like he's dominates everything up front.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's the on the field aspect.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to every single player that's gotten the contract extension over the last two years, whether it's
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: uh, whether it's, um, whether it's, uh, Jonathan Cooper, Zach Allen, Nick Benito, court and Sutton, they, every one of these team leaders have all raved about Jonathan Franklin Myers and they all say publicly, he needs to get a contract extension.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: They, they, they, they love this guy.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great culture player in the locker room.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a little vocal on Twitter, which is probably why he's not going to get that extension.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately,
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: The guy is a leader in your locker room.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's a dominant player up front.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to cost you $18 to $20 million a season as a second fiddle to a Zach Allen, if you will.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you could get him for probably $12, 13, $14 million a year.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: You still have Bonax on the Rookie Contract.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: Russell Wilson's dead cap comes off the books this year.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have to get this player extended.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think they're going to in a sucks.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was I was in the camp of the the draft of Savion Jones to replace him but they didn't play it.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: They gave him six snaps up until this last game on defense.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: So it's kind of hard to evaluate him.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my thoughts.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: If they make it the FC championship game and they don't get to the Super Bowl, they're going to they are going to give him a contract or try to at very least.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: If they get to the Super Bowl when it or they get bounced early in that first game, then they're going to let him walk.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think if they think they just barely missed their goal, they believe he's valuable enough to bring back to try and bring it all together for one more push.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: But if it doesn't happen that way, then they're going to say, okay, we've got some we drafted waiting in the wings.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to give him a shot.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: Even though we know he's probably not as good or it won't be as good for at least a couple years.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's my
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: bouncing out of the the AFC championship game and having to stay around.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's this really interesting like especially especially with the way that the CV on Jones.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying that he played great in the preseason.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: He showed some flashes and it's not it's preseason football going up again.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's third and fourth string player.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: So there's there's a lot to be desired here from a third round pick that you traded up for by the way to go and to go get his services.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think that getting to the Super Bowl we have accomplished our final goal and then you see to just go chase the bag.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I kind of agree with you.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: I never thought of it like that.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's fun.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really fun line of thinking.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you for bringing that up.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no problem.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: I like Franklin Myers.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think I wish they'd have given him that.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: I wish they'd give him the contract already, but they're taking that way to see approach whatever that's fine.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, it's not my money.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_00]: I should say they should spend it.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: So how about how about Riley Moss?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: What do you want the Broncos to do with Riley Moss?
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is, so I've been as one of the most ardent Riley Moss supporters of any, any person in Broncos country literally all year long.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm curious to what your thoughts are on Riley Moss.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think he's had his struggles, obviously, with the grabbing and the penalties and stuff.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he's a good player.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_00]: And they should give him another year and see how it goes.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_00]: See if he improves that, see if he improves those penalties, see if he gets a little bit better.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's only what it is.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: This will be his fourth year coming up.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_00]: and one of those years he was injured so I mean he's really only got a little bit of experience.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think he played pretty darn well this season being you know just really kind of just a little bit removed from being a rookie.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I think they got to give him another shot.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_00]: He played well enough to deserve that and hopefully he can you know get rid of some of those penalties that that's plagued him all year.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: It pains me to say this, this is year three.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: So he's eligible to be extended after this season.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: If the Broncos want to do that, I think they should.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also on, like, as I said, I have two lines of thinking here.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: They should extend him because he's been a damn good football player, even with all the penalties and some of the missed tackling issues that haven't really been that big of an issue.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: The penalties have been bad, like, don't give me wrong.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: But he's allowed the like fourth lowest catch percentage on the like second highest target target rate in the NFL.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's but damn good football player and you want to pay your players.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: But at the same time, you can't pay everybody because eventually Bo Nixon's going to need a new contract at least in my opinion.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's well on his way to earning a contract.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me, 45 to 55 million dollars.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: Somewhere in that particular range, top of the quarterback market.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you bring back John Franklin Myers, you don't have money for Riley Moss.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you bring in Riley, if you keep Riley Moss, you don't have money for John Franklin Myers.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: So it's which one of those two players do you think is more valuable to this franchise moving forward and how do you circumvent the salary cap and push some stuff down the road to be able to pay your franchise quarterback when that time comes, which is probably going to be after the next season because that would be bone
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think that they should keep John Franklin Liars because I really like Chris A. of Mr. Ray as a developmental corner back and he played well when Sir Tan was down this season.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_01]: You can move on from Riley Moss, find another corner back to rebuild that depth, move on with Chris A. Mr. Ray and keep that corner back room with the already massive contract in Sir Tan, keep that salary cap level low in the corner back room and build that back up, and you also have John A. Barron, Angie Kwon, McMillan, who's on a research of free agent
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they've got to basically some riches in that secondary if they can just keep them all healthy and playing.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_00]: I love McMillan.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he did a great job this year, Baron, obviously.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_00]: So they have some options, but I still think you give, you give Riley Moss another year, see how he plays.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to make a decision now, but... No, you don't.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I think I think that's probably what they'll end up doing, but still we'll find out about Jonathan Franklin Myers and and hey, if they win the Super Bowl, if he walks, I'm fine with it.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy with the Super Bowl, but it would be nice to have him back.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_00]: But I just want to thank you Lance for jumping in here for Luke really appreciate's been a while.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you to everybody in the chat.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's been it's been a great conversation.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you Scott for running everything in the background, but we are going to sign off.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll just keep our fingers crossed that is a favorable matchup coming up after this Sunday coming into mile high stadium.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for having me, Tom, we appreciate you for having me, buddy.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna leave you guys with this.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: Be safe this weekend and enjoy a great football like jam packed football weekend, college football playoffs.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: Thursday, Friday, NFL playoffs Saturday, Sunday, and a Monday night game as well.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: So gonna be a lot of fun to see how this whole weekend plays out.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: And once we find out who the Broncos are gonna play next week.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that Friday show is gonna be an absolute banger with me in Eric on Delvella, Detiver's.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_01]: fun on Wednesday as well.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, thank you, thank you for having me Tom.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_01]: You all stay safe and take care.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great, great rest of your weekend.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: And as always, guys, go Broncos.
