- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, maybe he can't take the teat Susan, it's one
- 0:02Speaker 1: more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'll take the teeth for one thousand, Alex.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Okay, I want to make sure we heard that right.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Maybe he can't take the teet Susan.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Hey, Katie Green back from maternity leave, joins us only
- 0:19Speaker 3: one more thing podcast.
- 0:21Speaker 4: I am just so.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I'm uncomfortable even saying this sentence. But are we talking
- 0:26Speaker 3: about your teeth?
- 0:28Speaker 4: Yeah, you're fine, We're talking about my breasts. Hanson.
- 0:32Speaker 1: You're gonna have a hell of a time with this
- 0:34Speaker 1: because I'm pissed. I am so sick of this just judgmental.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Here's here's a a comment I won't say from which
- 0:47Speaker 1: social media outlet? Are you breastfeeding? Quote end quote? I
- 0:52Speaker 1: sure hope. So you waited so long, so make sure
- 0:55Speaker 1: you do it right, all right, Susan, that's not her name.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Here's the deal. I was induced.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I also went through an emergency C section, which delays
- 1:08Speaker 1: your milk production, and I had a really big problem
- 1:12Speaker 1: producing breast milk. So I tried and tried and tried
- 1:16Speaker 1: and drove myself into a pit trying to get them
- 1:19Speaker 1: to do what I wanted them to do, and My
- 1:21Speaker 1: doctor said, hey, you know what fed is fed.
- 1:24Speaker 4: We're gonna put them on formula. You can combo feed.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So I was getting like a very small amount of
- 1:28Speaker 1: breast milk, so I'm putting that in with his formula,
- 1:32Speaker 1: so he's getting the benefits of it and whatnot.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Super that the judgment on.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Women who don't slash cannot breastfeed is one of the
- 1:44Speaker 1: most fucking obnoxious things I've encountered this entire time.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Hi, yeah, the women anger, Come on, give me a break.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Don't tell me what to do. You're not me, you
- 2:00Speaker 4: don't know.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And plus, my son has a tongue tie so he
- 2:03Speaker 1: can't latch. He has a tongue tie, like directly in
- 2:07Speaker 1: what it does. It's a web that attaches his tongue
- 2:10Speaker 1: to the bottom of his mouth.
- 2:11Speaker 4: It wanted us to do surgery.
- 2:13Speaker 1: My other doctor said, don't do it because sometimes it
- 2:16Speaker 1: repairs itself. So I'm not trying to cut my son
- 2:19Speaker 1: in ways that aren't necessary.
- 2:21Speaker 4: But don't tell me what to do and tell me, oh,
- 2:24Speaker 4: I hope you're doing it right. Just suck it.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The neus in, you idiot. The never ending evolvement of
- 2:34Speaker 3: parenthood from pregnancy on through I'm guessing the rest of
- 2:39Speaker 3: my life. A lot of it is it was my
- 2:46Speaker 3: first big encounter in the world with you just gotta
- 2:49Speaker 3: ignore people. I mean, at some point it's just a
- 2:53Speaker 3: you don't know my situation. I'm not gonna argue about
- 2:55Speaker 3: it with you. There's lots of details. I don't know
- 2:58Speaker 3: all my details. You don't know all your details. So
- 3:00Speaker 3: I'm just gonna whatever.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well, And I've I've been very transparent about the whole
- 3:05Speaker 1: thing the entire time.
- 3:05Speaker 4: You guys know, I've been talking to it about you.
- 3:07Speaker 4: You're right, You're right.
- 3:08Speaker 3: On this show that does become a problem because you
- 3:10Speaker 3: talk about something and you just kind of want to
- 3:12Speaker 3: share it as maybe a universal but people come.
- 3:15Speaker 4: In with all the stuff.
- 3:16Speaker 3: You didn't give all your information because on some of
- 3:20Speaker 3: it's private or mane of it.
- 3:21Speaker 4: But so you don't know what you're talking about. Yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 4: you don't know all of it. You just you don't
- 3:27Speaker 4: know all of it.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And Joe, you actually weren't here the last time that
- 3:29Speaker 1: I talked to Jack, but my and it was one
- 3:32Speaker 1: of the things that I wanted to put out there
- 3:34Speaker 1: because I didn't even know it was a thing.
- 3:36Speaker 4: But postpartum anxiety.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I've always heard of postpartum depression and all this, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 1: but I've been dealing with post part of anxiety. So
- 3:44Speaker 1: I've been talking to doctors and like trying to get
- 3:46Speaker 1: that under control because my blood pressure and all the
- 3:49Speaker 1: things just through the roof, and I've been I've been
- 3:53Speaker 1: trying to handle that while also trying to be a
- 3:55Speaker 1: good mom. And then it's like these little things that
- 3:59Speaker 1: usually I would just toss in the trash and not
- 4:02Speaker 1: give a holy s about, but.
- 4:04Speaker 4: It's like, you know, you waited so long, do it right?
- 4:08Speaker 1: What is right to your, right to you, is not
- 4:10Speaker 1: right to me, So you can absolutely take that and
- 4:13Speaker 1: just I'm doing all the hand gestures of the up
- 4:16Speaker 1: years and.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Go because there's less editing involved if you do that. Yeah, yeah, gosh,
- 4:23Speaker 2: dang it. It dawns on me that all my kids
- 4:26Speaker 2: were born prior to the ear of social media.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, different world.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Because I'm like, why are you looking at social media?
- 4:34Speaker 2: But then the answer as well, because it's you know,
- 4:37Speaker 2: of all the different social media because we all take
- 4:39Speaker 2: a glance.
- 4:40Speaker 1: At it, you know, semi regularly, and it's how I've
- 4:43Speaker 1: stayed in contact with our listeners while I've been gone
- 4:46Speaker 1: to like, you know, take that's.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Your fa mistake and no shit, well people are like normal,
- 4:52Speaker 4: good people. But there is the I mean that you
- 4:55Speaker 4: wouldn't believe when I had.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Cancer, the number of I hope you dies I got.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I mean, it's just it's more than you would think
- 5:01Speaker 3: you'd get.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, shouldn't that Yeah, more than you'd think you'd
- 5:07Speaker 2: get exactly, So.
- 5:08Speaker 4: You just yeah, here's the thing.
- 5:10Speaker 1: My sweet son is beautiful, he's happy, he's healthy, he's fed,
- 5:16Speaker 1: he is getting the benefits of breast milk through combo feeding.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And also, uh, there's something called colostrum, which is what
- 5:23Speaker 1: comes out before breast milk. There's a bunch of that,
- 5:26Speaker 1: so he's not missing any of those antibodies or whatever.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But it's just it's these little moments where people are like, oh,
- 5:34Speaker 1: you waited so wrong, do it right?
- 5:35Speaker 4: Really, hope you're breastfeeding. Just just shut up.
- 5:39Speaker 3: With all with all of it. When I'm in the
- 5:41Speaker 3: right mood, I can take it. And this doesn't have
- 5:43Speaker 3: to be uh, you know, social media, just in general people.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I feel like most people once they become a parent,
- 5:50Speaker 3: for a while they're like, oh, I see this is
- 5:54Speaker 3: way harder than I thought it was. Every kid is
- 5:56Speaker 3: completely different, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I'm gonna
- 5:59Speaker 3: stop any opinions on anything I've ever seen ever happen
- 6:04Speaker 3: because most people, But that's why I was gonna say,
- 6:06Speaker 3: most people. I feel like that's what you kind of
- 6:08Speaker 3: naturally come to. You realize, oh, every kid's different. So
- 6:12Speaker 3: when I saw, you know, pre having kids, when I
- 6:14Speaker 3: saw a kid acting up in the store, that wasn't
- 6:17Speaker 3: necessarily because the parents were doing.
- 6:18Speaker 4: A bad job.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You have no idea what's going.
- 6:21Speaker 3: On it anyway, So most people you end up being
- 6:24Speaker 3: less like friends I have who are already parents, like
- 6:27Speaker 3: offer no judgment most of the time on anything, but
- 6:31Speaker 3: not everybody. As Joe just said, some people feel like
- 6:33Speaker 3: it's licensed to really weigh in all the time.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It reminds me of our discussion of people who listen
- 6:40Speaker 2: to watch videos with their phone without earbuds or headphones,
- 6:45Speaker 2: listening to the audio loud in public, at a restaurant,
- 6:48Speaker 2: in a gate, at an airport, whatever.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Those are the.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Same people who will still weigh in knowing nothing about
- 6:55Speaker 2: your situation. With certainty. I think I swear to God,
- 6:59Speaker 2: those two behaviors are tied, right, yes, oh yeah, yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I guess, I guess what blows my mind. It's like
- 7:08Speaker 1: the amount of moms who have been like, well, I
- 7:12Speaker 1: know you don't want to hear this, but and then
- 7:14Speaker 1: insert unnecessary like future advice here. It's like, I know,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I know for a fact that when you were pregnant
- 7:23Speaker 1: or you had just had your baby, the second anybody
- 7:26Speaker 1: did this to you, it just irritated the hell out
- 7:28Speaker 1: of you.
- 7:28Speaker 4: So why Like I could.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Never see myself if one of my friends got pregnant tomorrow.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I would never be like, oh you just you just.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Wait, like that's not that's not you know, right right right,
- 7:43Speaker 4: right right.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I can I can judge myself on where I am
- 7:46Speaker 3: in my spiritual fitness on these things. When I'm doing well,
- 7:50Speaker 3: I can take these the way they're intended. This is
- 7:52Speaker 3: someone who is trying to help me and make my
- 7:55Speaker 3: life better.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Now, this person was not trying to pin or make
- 7:58Speaker 4: my life better. This was judgment.
- 8:00Speaker 3: If I'm not spiritually fit, I only take it as judgment.
- 8:03Speaker 3: You think you're smarter than me, and I want to
- 8:04Speaker 3: fight you. So it's usually one of those two things.
- 8:07Speaker 2: It sounds like Jack is judging Katie right here.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it does.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And are you breastfeeding? Quote end quote. I hope, so
- 8:18Speaker 1: you waited so long, so do it right. So if
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'm not breastfeeding, I'm not doing it right. So you
- 8:28Speaker 1: can take that and you know, do with it what
- 8:31Speaker 1: you will. But I mean it, everybody's family is different.
- 8:35Speaker 1: My sweet baby had to be on a supplemented formula
- 8:39Speaker 1: he because he was born so small and had to
- 8:42Speaker 1: be whisked away to the nick you immediately, and so
- 8:47Speaker 1: they wanted us to up his calories, so we did
- 8:49Speaker 1: that with formula.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Sue me.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Sorry, right, Yeah, I think yes, I think it's time
- 8:55Speaker 2: for father Joe to weigh in with his counseling. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 2: I yeah, yeah, it's it's well, and you're dealing with
- 9:08Speaker 2: all sorts of stuff neuropsychologically that that we're not at
- 9:12Speaker 2: this point.
- 9:14Speaker 4: You don't know that.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I know you're lack dating.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You weren't going to talk about it on the air,
- 9:21Speaker 1: But I've been seeing the dots on his shirt from
- 9:23Speaker 1: his nipples earlier.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I got to get the pants. There's a balance to
- 9:30Speaker 2: be struck between being a bitter, hateful hermit on the
- 9:35Speaker 2: one hand and letting idiots' comments.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Get to you.
- 9:43Speaker 2: You do not need to justify yourself to anyone but
- 9:47Speaker 2: your baby and your husband.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Right, And I'm using this strictly for this podcast, like you, like,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I mean, I've read worse than this over the last
- 9:56Speaker 1: three months.
- 9:56Speaker 4: The busy bodies.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Of the world recognized themselves having even heard this in
- 10:03Speaker 2: its entirety. Yeah, are they immune to that as well?
- 10:09Speaker 4: Probably?
- 10:10Speaker 1: I mean, this will probably go right over this person's head,
- 10:13Speaker 1: to be honest with you, but it was just something
- 10:15Speaker 1: that caught my eye in the sense of, like, dude,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I know I'm a new mom, and i know this
- 10:21Speaker 1: is the first time, but I'm also I'm not tone deaf,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and I'm listening to my doctors, my doctors and his doctors.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So and yeah, I am dealing with some weird, weird stuff. Man,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I have And I texted you if you got more
- 10:36Speaker 1: than a few times while I've been off where I mean,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I had a couple of episodes where I just I
- 10:42Speaker 1: lost it. I felt disconnected. I felt like I wasn't
- 10:46Speaker 1: even here and it was a thing that I didn't
- 10:48Speaker 1: even know existed. Like when it hit me, I was like,
- 10:50Speaker 1: what I've never heard of this before. I've heard of
- 10:53Speaker 1: postpartum depression where you get sad, and I've never heard
- 10:57Speaker 1: of this like manic ang chiss moment that can hit.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And once I looked into it, I realized that it's
- 11:05Speaker 1: like a one in five thing.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Wow, And I had no idea.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And so that was one of the things I was like,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you know what, when I'm gonna come back and we
- 11:13Speaker 1: do our podcast or we go on the air, I
- 11:15Speaker 1: want to make sure that it's something that's addressed, because like,
- 11:18Speaker 1: if it's one in five, I'm not the only person
- 11:20Speaker 1: that didn't have any idea that this existed.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Well, for ratings purposes, if you could crack a mic
- 11:26Speaker 3: anytime you feel this coming on and make sure you
- 11:28Speaker 3: record it just like lose your mind.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Now, absolutely, that would be so much work for Hanson's.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Jack.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, thank you, Jack. Jack's the one that wanted
- 11:39Speaker 4: to sell my contractions, by the way, so we'll just
- 11:43Speaker 4: we're going to sponsor them. Yeah, we were gonna.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Spire this contraction brought to you by you know, Elk
- 11:48Speaker 1: grove Ford.
- 11:51Speaker 3: In terms of how to deal with it, I wish
- 11:53Speaker 3: Joe could explain a little more of this bitter, hateful
- 11:55Speaker 3: hermit lifestyle. It's got an appeal to me like that
- 11:59Speaker 3: might be my.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Sweet it's ignoring it.
- 12:02Speaker 1: You just don't give them the gratification that I'm giving
- 12:06Speaker 1: it right now, which usually I wouldn't. And I've been
- 12:08Speaker 1: in this for twenty years, and usually I wouldn't give
- 12:11Speaker 1: this person my time of day.
- 12:12Speaker 4: But it's like it happens so much to moms.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And so here's a variation on that.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I used to.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Run into people now and again. They'd, you know, they'd
- 12:27Speaker 2: find out who I was and what I did for
- 12:29Speaker 2: a living, and they'd say, oh, you know, and you
- 12:31Speaker 2: get this once in a while, Yeah, your show really
- 12:35Speaker 2: isn't my cup of tea.
- 12:36Speaker 4: I didn't really like it or whatever.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And if I cared about the relationship with a person
- 12:43Speaker 2: or it came up in conversation, I would explain to people.
- 12:46Speaker 2: And these numbers are outdated because radio, my god, has
- 12:50Speaker 2: changed completely. Podcasting is obviously taken over to a large
- 12:55Speaker 2: extent blah blah blah, but it used to be back
- 12:57Speaker 2: in the day. That's certainly in a major market, if
- 12:59Speaker 2: you could regularly get one percent of listening audience one percent,
- 13:02Speaker 2: you could make a living. If you can get two percent.
- 13:04Speaker 2: You can make a really good living. If you got
- 13:06Speaker 2: five percent, you would get rich, wealthy five percent. And
- 13:12Speaker 2: my response was, you're in the ninety five percent.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 13:16Speaker 2: It's fine. It doesn't make me mad. I'm not sad.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I'm not disappointed. You're in the ninety five percent. It
- 13:22Speaker 2: does not matter to you. Those people are in the
- 13:27Speaker 2: ninety five percent who are wrong or you don't get
- 13:30Speaker 2: or they're dopes, or they're they got no like concept
- 13:34Speaker 2: of when their opinion is welcome when it's not. You're
- 13:38Speaker 2: in the ninety five percent, and it's more like ninety
- 13:40Speaker 2: nine point nine percent because the circle of people you
- 13:42Speaker 2: ought to care about what they think is very very
- 13:45Speaker 2: small if you think about it.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I have four of them in front of me,
- 13:48Speaker 1: and then I have my husband and my parents and
- 13:50Speaker 1: my in laws.
- 13:51Speaker 4: That's about it.
- 13:52Speaker 2: You know, if you go down to the bus station
- 13:53Speaker 2: commit a triple murder, you don't need strangers to tell
- 13:57Speaker 2: you that's wrong.
- 13:59Speaker 4: The people you care about will tell you what's wrong right.
- 14:02Speaker 2: And the stuff only that very small circle knows about
- 14:05Speaker 2: same thing. You can count on them.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Don't worry about this, I will tell you, dude.
- 14:09Speaker 1: The old ladies that love me with my little baby
- 14:14Speaker 1: and my stroller everywhere I go. I was walking through
- 14:17Speaker 1: I was walking through a parking lot last week with Van.
- 14:21Speaker 4: We had just gone to lunch, and these two ladies
- 14:23Speaker 4: looked at me and they had to have.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Been in their mid eighties. One of them had a walker,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and the one with the walker went, you go girl,
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's like yeah, and she came over and she looked
- 14:35Speaker 1: at bad and she's like, he is such an angel,
- 14:38Speaker 1: and like the amount of the amount of good outweighs
- 14:42Speaker 1: the bad bye.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, a trillion.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But it's just I don't know, Like I saw this
- 14:47Speaker 1: thing and I was like, you know, more moms get
- 14:50Speaker 1: hit with this bsan than gets addressed.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I feel that way when I see people like clearly
- 14:56Speaker 3: starting out their family, think, oh, that is so awesome
- 15:00Speaker 3: through that period of your life.
- 15:02Speaker 4: And he's he's such a good baby.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I mean, we sat at lunch the other day for
- 15:06Speaker 1: like an hour and a half and he just sat
- 15:07Speaker 1: there and kind of looked around and he's just started
- 15:09Speaker 1: to cool and social smile. So when I get like
- 15:12Speaker 1: really close to his face, his eyes like change and
- 15:16Speaker 1: they light up and he's just oh, oh my God,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I'm so in love.
- 15:21Speaker 4: It's obnoxious. It's obnoxious.
- 15:25Speaker 2: There you go, and don't ruin that feeling by beating
- 15:29Speaker 2: Susan with both your fits, leaving her with a bloody nose.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Well, that's why I brought it to you, guys. He's
- 15:34Speaker 4: not in here right now.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Figuring out where she lives, going to her house, slashing her.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Head like she was the light bag. No, don't do it.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I already found her. Oh my life, it's extended.
- 15:47Speaker 2: No, no, deepreps, deeprep.
- 15:52Speaker 4: That was here tired of floting. Hey, he don't worry
- 15:57Speaker 4: about other people. Hey, how many times are a day
- 15:59Speaker 4: do you feel?
- 16:00Speaker 2: Do you feed Van?
- 16:02Speaker 4: Oh?
- 16:02Speaker 1: God, I don't know how many times a day, but
- 16:06Speaker 1: I will say that it almost three months. He is
- 16:09Speaker 1: taking twenty eight to thirty ounces of food a day.
- 16:14Speaker 4: So you're starving your child.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Oh, just you know, Michael, Michael, I will come in
- 16:19Speaker 1: there and I will choke slam you.
- 16:21Speaker 4: All right, Well, I guess that's it. You're not feeding
- 16:26Speaker 4: him enough. Shut up, Jack,
