- 0:47Speaker 1: Hellllo, everyone, and welcome to mid Day Missing, where we
- 0:52Speaker 1: highlight current missing persons cases that need more attention. We
- 0:56Speaker 1: do live shows every Monday and Wednesday at noon Central
- 1:00Speaker 1: and then release them on our podcast as well. Now,
- 1:03Speaker 1: as you can see, I am not Darry Truecrime. No.
- 1:06Speaker 1: She unfortunately has some plans this morning that are not
- 1:11Speaker 1: vas that's for sure. But I'm ama and I'll be
- 1:13Speaker 1: filling in for her today, so it'll be a bit
- 1:15Speaker 1: of a shorter show. Probably not as many brands. I
- 1:18Speaker 1: don't know, we'll see you never know what I could bring.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So we got two cases for you guys today. The
- 1:25Speaker 1: first one we have is a teen Shaw. No, there
- 1:29Speaker 1: we go, Sorry, there we go? Okay Now, In the
- 1:34Speaker 1: quiet town of Washburn, Maine, nestled Deep and Ariostook County,
- 1:39Speaker 1: a woman named a Teen Shaw vanished in September twenty
- 1:42Speaker 1: twenty one, and nearly four years later, there are still
- 1:47Speaker 1: no definitive answers. Now. A teen was a native of
- 1:52Speaker 1: Indonesia and moved to Washburn in twenty twenty with her husband,
- 1:57Speaker 1: Mike Shaw, and their four children. Just described as petitgue,
- 2:01Speaker 1: just four feets seven inches tall, with black hair and
- 2:05Speaker 1: brown eyes, Latina was known by relatives as a soft
- 2:08Speaker 1: spoken but spirited woman who often kept in touch with
- 2:12Speaker 1: her family back home in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, that contact
- 2:17Speaker 1: stopped in August twenty twenty one. Her sister Anita, was
- 2:23Speaker 1: the last known relative to speak with her. In their
- 2:26Speaker 1: final conversations, a teen had reportedly said she was going
- 2:30Speaker 1: to look for work. She was also once active on
- 2:34Speaker 1: social media, but that activity ceased abruptly in the same month.
- 2:40Speaker 1: By September, she was gone, according to documents later shared
- 2:46Speaker 1: by former Washburn Police officer Hunter Bloncio, Mike Shaw told
- 2:52Speaker 1: family members he reported a team missing in October twenty
- 2:56Speaker 1: twenty one. It's kind of a long time because it's
- 3:03Speaker 1: not playing the little video there we go. Okay, that
- 3:08Speaker 1: way you can see all the beautiful pictures of a team,
- 3:09Speaker 1: which is gorgeous. However, Maine State Police where records confirmed
- 3:16Speaker 1: that the report wasn't filed until November twenty twenty one.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Oh this is not looking good for you, Mike Shaw,
- 3:24Speaker 1: nearly two months after she was allegedly seen on September eighth,
- 3:28Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, at their Watchburn home. Suspicious. In the
- 3:37Speaker 1: months following her disappearance, few details emerged publicly. Beloncio, who
- 3:42Speaker 1: was not part of the original investigation, said she became
- 3:46Speaker 1: involved in the early twenty twenty three when several concerned
- 3:50Speaker 1: community members, including an Indonesian family, approached her worried that
- 3:56Speaker 1: no progress was being made. Valencio, a former Washburn officer,
- 4:01Speaker 1: began asking questions and eventually compiled a formal report dated
- 4:06Speaker 1: March ninth, twenty twenty three, which she shared with the
- 4:10Speaker 1: Bangard Daily News. So that's two years after a teen
- 4:15Speaker 1: goes missing. That's interesting. So Blancia's findings raised several red flags. Okay,
- 4:24Speaker 1: red flag number one and wave and I is that
- 4:27Speaker 1: Mike Shaw claimed a teen was working on a cruise
- 4:30Speaker 1: ship but couldn't recall the name of the vessel. Suirly normal, right,
- 4:36Speaker 1: Your wife, mother of your multiple kids, leaving for a
- 4:41Speaker 1: couple months to go work on a cruise ship and
- 4:43Speaker 1: you have no idea what it's called, sir, Get out
- 4:47Speaker 1: of here. When a family friend visited the Shaw home
- 4:51Speaker 1: in December twenty twenty one, she described it as messy,
- 4:55Speaker 1: with trash and a suspicious dark stain on the plywood floors.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Oh boy. Valincio confirmed through federal sources that a team's
- 5:05Speaker 1: passport had not been used or updated, and she had
- 5:10Speaker 1: no social security activity, employment history, or medical records since
- 5:15Speaker 1: her disappearance, and I imagine she was on a cruise
- 5:19Speaker 1: shippy record of all of those things. Unfortunately, there was
- 5:25Speaker 1: no signs of life, no phone use, no sightings, and
- 5:29Speaker 1: no strichal trail. Due to these inconsistencies, Baloncio formally contacted
- 5:36Speaker 1: the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North in March
- 5:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, urging them to take over the case.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I hope Main State Police is better than some of
- 5:46Speaker 1: these other state police. Is that we've seen quote, she's
- 5:51Speaker 1: someone and she's missing, Baloncia said in an interview. Her
- 5:56Speaker 1: family deserves answers and she deserves justice. Bloncio also contacted
- 6:02Speaker 1: the Indonesian Embassy, Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security,
- 6:07Speaker 1: though at the time of her report, responses were still pending.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Now adding to the complexity, the case of a teen
- 6:17Speaker 1: Shaw is one of several troubling missing person cases out
- 6:22Speaker 1: of Arista County, which is why this is Maine, Okay.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I didn't really know there was that many people missing
- 6:30Speaker 1: from Maine, let alone. In one County. That's oh boy.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Beloncio's report also mentions her concern about Chandler cole Vin,
- 6:41Speaker 1: sergeant of the Washburne Police Department. Uh. Oh, and we're
- 6:45Speaker 1: got another campon situation on Marian's here. Cole told her
- 6:49Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one that Mike Shaw had said his
- 6:53Speaker 1: wife was on a cruise ship. However, Cole himself was
- 6:58Speaker 1: later criminally charged in an unrelated case. Cool love. That
- 7:03Speaker 1: that's great. Cole had Coal had been involved in the
- 7:08Speaker 1: investigation of Eric Foote, another washburn man who went missing
- 7:13Speaker 1: and was later found deceased. Oh. In twenty twenty four,
- 7:19Speaker 1: Coal was charged with falsifying records, tampering with evidence, and
- 7:23Speaker 1: other crimes connected to that case. Oh no, that's not great,
- 7:31Speaker 1: though he pled guilty to lesser charges in early twenty
- 7:34Speaker 1: twenty five. It is unclear whether Cole's actions are being
- 7:38Speaker 1: reviewed in connection to a teen Shaan's disappearance. As of
- 7:43Speaker 1: February twenty twenty five, the main Attorney General's Office stated
- 7:46Speaker 1: there were no pending charges against him in this case,
- 7:50Speaker 1: but it is gonna seem very suspicious in short. Meanwhile,
- 7:57Speaker 1: the washburn Police Department has since been dissolved. Oh that
- 8:02Speaker 1: means there's a lot of shady stuff going on there. Yikes.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Belsia no longer works in law enforcement, but continues to
- 8:12Speaker 1: advocate for justice in a teen's case. A teen was
- 8:16Speaker 1: officially listed and nameless, which is the national missing and
- 8:19Speaker 1: on an Identified person system in March twenty twenty three.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Her gaze remains open and active with the Main State Police,
- 8:29Speaker 1: who confirmed in early twenty twenty five that investigators are
- 8:33Speaker 1: still following up on leeds and have found no evidence
- 8:37Speaker 1: she is living elsewhere. A searge conducted in March twenty
- 8:41Speaker 1: twenty four did not uncover new locations or known contacts
- 8:45Speaker 1: about her. A letter written by Mike Shaw to a
- 8:51Speaker 1: teen's father. Oh boy, that this is a doozy anyways.
- 8:57Speaker 1: So a written letter by Mike to a teen's father,
- 9:00Speaker 1: referenced in a twenty twenty four article by The Indonesian Lantern,
- 9:05Speaker 1: claimed she may have suffered a mental health breakdown. Oh okay, Mike,
- 9:10Speaker 1: So first she's on a cruise shut and now she
- 9:13Speaker 1: had a mental health breakdown. It's fine, don't worry about her, okay. However,
- 9:18Speaker 1: no formal mental health history has been publicly confirmed, and
- 9:23Speaker 1: the Main State police have not echoed that claim because
- 9:27Speaker 1: it sounds like this this Mike. As of July twenty
- 9:32Speaker 1: twenty fifth, Mike Shaw continues to live in Washburn with
- 9:35Speaker 1: the couple's children. He has reportedly declined interviews with law
- 9:39Speaker 1: enforcement and media start okay okay. The case has also
- 9:50Speaker 1: drawn international attention, especially in Indonesia, where multiple articles have
- 9:55Speaker 1: been published about her disappearance. A Facebook page titled where
- 10:00Speaker 1: is a Teen Shaw was launched in twenty twenty four
- 10:03Speaker 1: and now has over twenty two hundred followers. The page
- 10:08Speaker 1: continues to share updates, missing person flyers and please for tips.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Now he sounds very suspicious, he found. He sounds very suspicious.
- 10:22Speaker 1: The mother of his multiple kids doesn't seem to care
- 10:26Speaker 1: what happened to her. Will they ever find a dean?
- 10:31Speaker 1: I mean, Maine is a very rural area and there
- 10:38Speaker 1: are a lot of woods in Maine. Oh I wish
- 10:42Speaker 1: I had Facebook so I could deep divese case somewhere,
- 10:44Speaker 1: because this is very interesting. If you guys do go
- 10:47Speaker 1: follow that Facebook page and then send me on stuff.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So her case is also listed in the main Department
- 10:56Speaker 1: of Public Safeties Missing person database. Anyone with knowledge of
- 11:01Speaker 1: a teen Shaw's disappearance is urged to contact the main
- 11:04Speaker 1: Stay Police at two zero seven seven four three eight
- 11:09Speaker 1: two A two. If you know something, say something, okay,
- 11:14Speaker 1: even if you don't think it's a big, big something.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It could be two investigators. You just don't know now.
- 11:24Speaker 1: If you know of or have a loved one that
- 11:26Speaker 1: is missing and are interested in having their story is
- 11:29Speaker 1: featured on an upcoming episode and or join us live
- 11:33Speaker 1: for a live interview, please contact Amy, our producer, by
- 11:38Speaker 1: emailing her at Amy at tcwmedia dot com, or you
- 11:43Speaker 1: can send us a DM on any of our social
- 11:46Speaker 1: media Next Unfortunately, because there's always so many of these,
- 11:55Speaker 1: we're going to talk about Stephanie Arlene jin Vamron so.
- 12:01Speaker 1: On September twenty third, twenty twenty four, the deep woods
- 12:05Speaker 1: of New Sweden, Maine, swallowed a young girl without a trace.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Thirteen year old Stephanie Arlen Jen Damron had just argued
- 12:17Speaker 1: with her sister over chores. Oh my gosh, she's so young.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Oh exkin me hard. Their family home, a homespun urt
- 12:27Speaker 1: like structor structure tucked into twenty six wooded acres, offered
- 12:32Speaker 1: little room for privacy and Stephanie emotional stepped outside. These
- 12:38Speaker 1: people are living in a yurt in Maine. I can't
- 12:43Speaker 1: imagine that would be very cold, I would think. Okay,
- 12:48Speaker 1: her grandfather figure, Richard, watched her walk off into the
- 12:52Speaker 1: dense tree line. A short time leader, a vehicle was
- 12:56Speaker 1: reportedly heard passing nearby. No one thought much of it
- 13:00Speaker 1: at the time. Okay, but they're like on twenty six
- 13:06Speaker 1: wooded acres, Like how many people are really driving by?
- 13:10Speaker 1: But okay. Unfortunately, Stephanie didn't return and she hasn't been
- 13:16Speaker 1: seen since. Born on October sixth, twenty ten, Stephanie was
- 13:22Speaker 1: the middle child of Christopher Dale Damron and Lisa Marie Damron.
- 13:27Speaker 1: She lived with her five siblings, ages eight to twenty one,
- 13:31Speaker 1: and an elderly man named Richard, who had no familiar
- 13:36Speaker 1: ties but was treated as a grandfather figure. He had
- 13:41Speaker 1: lived with the family for most of Stephanie's life. Okay, okay.
- 13:46Speaker 1: The damn Ron family had moved often from West Virginia
- 13:51Speaker 1: to Texas, Illinois, and finally named now Lisa. The mother
- 13:56Speaker 1: hailed from Georgia and Christopher from West Virginia. Yeah. It
- 14:01Speaker 1: also lived in Florida and Rhode Islands. So these people
- 14:03Speaker 1: are just all over the place. Okay, their lifestyle was
- 14:10Speaker 1: distinctly off grid. I would say so living in a
- 14:13Speaker 1: year name. But okay. The families that dome like home
- 14:18Speaker 1: had no running water, no indoor plumbing, and power came
- 14:23Speaker 1: via a generator. This sounds freaking awful to raise a family.
- 14:27Speaker 1: But none of the children were enrolled in public school.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Of course they weren't, Okay. The family homeschooled and the
- 14:40Speaker 1: older children often transitioned to the job corp programs. It
- 14:45Speaker 1: kept largely to themselves. Though Christopher had several siblings and
- 14:50Speaker 1: have siblings, the family had few ties to extended relatives.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The closest bond appeared to be with Jerry, Stephanie's great
- 15:00Speaker 1: aunt in Illinois. It was just after noon on Monday,
- 15:05Speaker 1: September twenty third, twenty twenty four, when Stephanie reportedly had
- 15:09Speaker 1: a dispute with her sister. Her parents were away in
- 15:13Speaker 1: a ca in Caribou for a job interview and errands.
- 15:18Speaker 1: As the story goes, Stephanie, frustrated, stormed off into the
- 15:22Speaker 1: woods near the rural home in New Sweden, a quiet,
- 15:26Speaker 1: unincorporated community near the Canadian border. She was the last
- 15:31Speaker 1: scene wearing blue jeans a long sleeved blue shirt in
- 15:36Speaker 1: black David Harley Davidson hiking boots. At five foot tall
- 15:42Speaker 1: and approximately one hundred and thirty pounds, with shoulder length,
- 15:45Speaker 1: brown hair and green eyes. Stephanie was described as outdoor, stappy,
- 15:50Speaker 1: and familiar with the forest around home. She had reportedly
- 15:55Speaker 1: gone off before but always came back, but this time
- 15:58Speaker 1: hours turned into dates. On September twenty fourth, her parents
- 16:03Speaker 1: reported her missing. Law enforcement responded swiftly, with the main
- 16:10Speaker 1: state Police Troop F led the initial investigation. Given the
- 16:15Speaker 1: potential for abduction, the FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team
- 16:20Speaker 1: was activated. The main warden surface service was ground search
- 16:27Speaker 1: used ground search crews sorry K nineteens and aerial units.
- 16:33Speaker 1: The RCMP, which is in Canadian Canadia in Canada worked
- 16:41Speaker 1: contacted in case Stephanie had crossed bordered. The search radius grew, neighbors,
- 16:49Speaker 1: local volunteers, and online communities mobilized. Still no trace of Stephanie,
- 16:56Speaker 1: no belongings, no confirmed sightings, and no sign of TRUP
- 17:00Speaker 1: truck's struggle was ever found. A dedicated website, teen Stephanie
- 17:06Speaker 1: Do Fororg was launched by supporters and as weeks passed.
- 17:11Speaker 1: The law enforcement released updated photos and including one from
- 17:16Speaker 1: the summer of twenty twenty four of Stephanie That picture
- 17:20Speaker 1: right there almost with the flower tucked in her hair,
- 17:24Speaker 1: in hopes it might jog someone's memory. Now there are
- 17:29Speaker 1: no confirmed witnesses beyond family. A car was reportedly heard
- 17:35Speaker 1: passing the house shortly after Stephanie left, raising the possibility
- 17:39Speaker 1: of a pickup, but no evidence of contact or abduction
- 17:43Speaker 1: has been confirmed. Stephanie didn't have a phone, not surprising
- 17:48Speaker 1: these people adopt the grid, and her social media presence
- 17:52Speaker 1: was non existent. While some speculate that the secluded lifestyle
- 17:57Speaker 1: may have hidden warning signs, there's there's been no public
- 18:01Speaker 1: accusation of wrongdoing by family or others close to her.
- 18:06Speaker 1: The case remains active, but unfortunately the trail has gone cold.
- 18:13Speaker 1: In December twenty twenty four, the FBI announced a fifteen
- 18:17Speaker 1: thousand dollars reward for credible information leading to Stephane's return
- 18:24Speaker 1: or an arrest in her disappearance. The dan Round family
- 18:28Speaker 1: has remained mostly private, but the great aunt Jerry has
- 18:33Speaker 1: become a key voice advocating for Stephaney online. A visual
- 18:38Speaker 1: was held in December twenty twenty four at a local
- 18:41Speaker 1: Baptist church, and posters of Stephanie now hang across northern
- 18:45Speaker 1: Maine in parts of New England with the message keep
- 18:49Speaker 1: your eyes open. In the months following, public discourse about
- 18:54Speaker 1: our case grew rapidly, particularly on social media platforms and
- 18:59Speaker 1: true forms well. Much of the focus has remained on
- 19:03Speaker 1: efforts to find Stephanie. A wave of online scrutiny has
- 19:09Speaker 1: emerged around the damir and families lifestyle, their background and
- 19:13Speaker 1: handling of the case. This is no surprise, I mean
- 19:17Speaker 1: the true crime forums do this with literally everybody always,
- 19:22Speaker 1: whether they live in a ur in Maine or not.
- 19:26Speaker 1: The speculation and commentary online highlight the challenges faced by
- 19:30Speaker 1: families of missing persons, particularly when their life style falls
- 19:35Speaker 1: outside mainstream warms. While public interests can help elevate a case,
- 19:42Speaker 1: it can also bring harmful assumptions and distract from the facts.
- 19:48Speaker 1: As of now, Stephanie Dameron remains missing and the official
- 19:52Speaker 1: position of law enforcement is that foul play has not
- 19:56Speaker 1: been rolled out, but neither has possibility of voluntary disappearance
- 20:03Speaker 1: or a tragic accident in the forest. Stephanie has now
- 20:08Speaker 1: been missing for over nine months, so sad. If you
- 20:15Speaker 1: have any information, no matter how significant it may seem,
- 20:20Speaker 1: please call the Main State Police A two oh seven
- 20:24Speaker 1: seven four three A two A two and as Lady
- 20:30Speaker 1: in Gray says, if you know something, say something. Okay,
- 20:36Speaker 1: ough this show, I swear it would put me through
- 20:40Speaker 1: so many rabbitles. Oh my goodness. Well, you know, I
- 20:44Speaker 1: want to thank you all for joining me today. I
