- 0:13Well, good morning, everybody, and welcome to another edition of the ABA Coffee In The Park.
- 0:20Thank you for joining us.
- 0:22My name is Cam Milliken.
- 0:23I'm your co-host, and I am here with my co-host extraordinaire, Jennifer Herrick, the Acheson Business Association Executive Director.
- 0:32Good morning, Jennifer.
- 0:34Good morning, Cam.
- 0:35How are you this morning?
- 0:36Well, I'm doing okay.
- 0:38I'm looking outside, and I'm watching lightning, and hearing thunder, and all that kind of stuff, and just kind of a weird morning here in Acheson.
- 0:45It is.
- 0:46It is quite the storm we're having.
- 0:48yes.
- 0:48And we need to tell the people that we are not at the Wall Coffee Roaster this morning in beautiful downtown Acheson.
- 0:56We are at...
- 0:57Well, you're right.
- 0:59We are not at our usual spot where most people are used to listening to us from.
- 1:03We are currently at Bushell Transport in Acheson, located in Zone 7.
- 1:09And we're going to tell you in a few minutes why we're actually here on the road.
- 1:14Right.
- 1:14And before we do that, why don't you tell us about our amazing sponsors?
- 1:18We would like to thank our gold corporate sponsors, which include the MyShak Group of companies, Genics, and of course, Parkland County.
- 1:25We want to thank these businesses for their continued support of the Acheson Business Association and Acheson in general.
- 1:31Right on.
- 1:31Because without them, we would not be able to do this.
- 1:34So thank you.
- 1:35Thank you very much.
- 1:36Jennifer, how are you doing these days?
- 1:37Well, this weather's really thrown me off this morning, Cam.
- 1:41I got to admit it.
- 1:42I know.
- 1:43It's very strange outside.
- 1:44It's like usually you expect thunder and lightning at night.
- 1:47And then you have it at like seven o'clock in the morning.
- 1:49I know.
- 1:50Kind of weird.
- 1:51It is a little weird.
- 1:51Yeah.
- 1:52Anyway, I think we'll get over it and get used to it and we'll make it happen.
- 1:56So we today are and have a very, very special guest.
- 2:03You want to tell us about our guest?
- 2:04I do.
- 2:05And this is the reason we are currently at Bushell Transport.
- 2:09Right, Roadshow.
- 2:09Our particular guest, well, let's just say, I don't know if he would quite be allowed in The Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 2:16No, folks, he hasn't been banned from The Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 2:19No, no, no, no, he hasn't been banned.
- 2:20For not paying his bills.
- 2:21Don't worry.
- 2:21No.
- 2:22But the reason that we are currently at Bushell is because we are here to interview Felix The Shop Cat.
- 2:33Yeah.
- 2:34Right?
- 2:34Felix The Shop Cat.
- 2:35Felix The Shop Cat.
- 2:36That's right.
- 2:37Who is currently wandering around our feet somewhere down here.
- 2:41Oh, he's over in the corner over there.
- 2:42And tell us why we're interviewing Felix The Shop Cat.
- 2:45Well, for anybody that does not know Felix The Shop Cat, he is an Acheson celebrity.
- 2:53But not only an Acheson celebrity, Cam, he has more Instagram followers than I do at over 2,500 Instagram followers.
- 3:00Yeah.
- 3:00And we're going to get into that in just a little bit.
- 3:02And I'm excited about that story.
- 3:04But we have Felix...
- 3:08I don't know what to call you, Cheryl.
- 3:10Do we call you Felix Mom?
- 3:12Felix Handler?
- 3:13Felix...
- 3:14Social media manager?
- 3:16I don't know what to call you.
- 3:18But we are very excited to have Cheryl with us today.
- 3:22Who is...?
- 3:23Well, Cheryl and Grant Glattacker are the owner-operators here at Bushell Transport.
- 3:28And again, they are the reason that Felix The Cat is so popular.
- 3:35So we're excited for Cheryl to speak on behalf of Felix today.
- 3:39Welcome, Cheryl.
- 3:40Thank you for having me.
- 3:41Good to have you.
- 3:42Hey, before we get into Felix, why don't you tell us a little bit about Bushell Transport?
- 3:47Because I think the people would like to hear what you guys do here.
- 3:50We've been in business in Acheson here for probably the past 10 years in Acheson.
- 3:57Grant and I have been running it for 21 years, and we specialize in heavy equipment, oversized, over-dimensional freight, all over the US and all over Canada.
- 4:09Wow.
- 4:10And how many trucks you have?
- 4:12Currently, I think about 20, and then with RST, we have five more.
- 4:16Wow.
- 4:17And when we say RST, for those that listen to Tamara's podcast, Tamara is also located here in the Bushell Transport office.
- 4:27Right.
- 4:27She's not here right now.
- 4:28She's not here.
- 4:30Not in this current room.
- 4:31She's out of this office.
- 4:33No, Cheryl.
- 4:35She's not here.
- 4:36Tamara's not here right now.
- 4:37Anyway.
- 4:37So, well, that's awesome.
- 4:39And looking out the window right now, I see one of those big, beautiful trucks, and that's kind of awesome.
- 4:43And you guys do an amazing job.
- 4:46But, as great as all of that is, like Jennifer said, we're here because of Felix.
- 4:56Felix, who, it is really too bad we don't have video for this podcast.
- 5:01It is, yeah.
- 5:02Because the Purolator driver had just arrived, and currently Felix is looking out the door, wondering if the package that was delivered is for him.
- 5:14Right.
- 5:14So, he's got quite the personality.
- 5:17But let's kick it off, Cheryl, because we want to take a step back.
- 5:21Before Felix, there was another cat.
- 5:25And for those in Acheson, I'm sure you also all remember Oliver Da Cat.
- 5:29Right.
- 5:30So, tell us, Cheryl, how did the whole Oliver and Felix phenomenon begin?
- 5:35Yeah, why cats?
- 5:36Why cats?
- 5:37Yeah.
- 5:37Well, when you have mice, you have to have a cat.
- 5:40And when we were over in Walker crescent, we had plenty of mice.
- 5:45And you can only set so many traps.
- 5:47And then eventually, you need to get a cat.
- 5:50We had talked about it over and over again, the responsibilities of having a shop cat, how it would all work.
- 5:56And then one of our drivers had a cat that needed to be rehomed.
- 6:02And we took in Oliver.
- 6:03At the time, he was nine months old and didn't even have a name.
- 6:07And he became quite the little mouser for us.
- 6:10Wow.
- 6:11So, you had Oliver first, now Felix.
- 6:13yes, now Felix.
- 6:14And you originally got them as shop cats.
- 6:17yes.
- 6:19So, Cheryl, I do recall you telling me the story.
- 6:23Oliver was so good at his job.
- 6:25In fact, he helped fellow businesses in Acheson out with their mouse problem.
- 6:29yes.
- 6:30That's why we moved, because he de-moused that entire area.
- 6:33So, we had to build a new shop and start all over.
- 6:36Look at that, you moved so you can help the neighborhood with their mouse issue.
- 6:40I like that.
- 6:41You guys are good people.
- 6:42That's really awesome.
- 6:44So, now people are asking, so why are you doing a podcast on cats?
- 6:49And Jennifer mentioned it a little bit earlier, but these cats have quite a bit of notoriety.
- 6:55Like, they're famous.
- 6:57yes, they are.
- 6:57Because of your Instagram page.
- 6:59yes.
- 6:59So, tell us a little bit why.
- 7:01Why start Instagramming about your cats?
- 7:05Well, originally, I had a Facebook page that one of the drivers had started, and then never, ever implemented.
- 7:10So, I just asked for the password, and I started using Facebook for Oliver.
- 7:15And Facebook proved to just be kind of a boring platform for him.
- 7:19And one day, I decided, let's do Instagram.
- 7:22So, yeah, long story short, started up Instagram, and...
- 7:27Way to go.
- 7:28Yeah, there's a lot of cat pages out there, and a lot of people who follow cats, and so...
- 7:34A cat cult.
- 7:34yes, a cat cult.
- 7:36So, sorry, Jennifer, how many followers?
- 7:39Oh, he has over 2,500 Instagram followers.
- 7:422,500.
- 7:43It makes me a little sad about my life, can't I?
- 7:47My 12 Instagram followers, and Felix 2,500.
- 7:51He's a cat, yeah.
- 7:53Pretty amazing, so...
- 7:54It really is amazing.
- 7:56Yeah.
- 7:57So, just tell us this story.
- 7:59So, you got cats, you brought them in.
- 8:01Probably lots of people who have big shops and stuff say, we have cats too.
- 8:05How did they become so famous within your company?
- 8:09Give us a little bit of how that all worked out.
- 8:12Well, with Oliver, it was easy.
- 8:15And for four years, we had him, and he would be around the Walker crescent area, and he was de-mousing next door, he was de-mousing across the street, and then he was going to A&W and meeting people, and on his...
- 8:31Did you hear that?
- 8:32Did you hear that?
- 8:33Yeah.
- 8:35Felix is talking.
- 8:37He's standing at the door talking.
- 8:40I think he wants out.
- 8:41Yeah, I think so.
- 8:43Yeah, so anyway, and then he has a tag that has his Instagram handle on it, so when people would find him at A&W, they would Instagram me, and yeah.
- 8:54And then same thing when we moved here, Oliver decided he was going to go across the way to Ledcor when they were building Amazon, and he spent hours and hours, days really actually, because one time he was missing for 36 hours.
- 9:09And yeah, we found out he was building Amazon.
- 9:13Wow.
- 9:14So for those, just to give context to what Cheryl is saying, right next to Bushell Transport is a massive robotic Amazon plant.
- 9:23And so it took them what, two years to build that.
- 9:26I remember touring that a while ago before it was finished.
- 9:29And so Oliver would head over there.
- 9:31Yep.
- 9:32And hang out.
- 9:32Yep.
- 9:33He was often found on the fifth floor.
- 9:35He would ride the elevator.
- 9:36Once the elevator got running, he helped operate the crane.
- 9:40Yeah, I would get pictures from the crane operator, selfies with Oliver in the back.
- 9:46And then he was hanging out in the Ledcor shacks during COVID.
- 9:49And he knew exactly where the temperature place was and where you get your wristband after you get your temperature taken.
- 9:57And he'd sit there and wait for everybody to pet him.
- 9:59And then kind of like, here's your wristband.
- 10:01You can go to work now.
- 10:03Did they employ him?
- 10:04Did they pay him?
- 10:05I know, right?
- 10:06Yeah, he wasn't paid a dime for that.
- 10:09I think they just paid him in treats.
- 10:12But I do believe that Oliver was one of the very few people that actually had clearance to be at Amazon, Cheryl.
- 10:22yes, he did have clearance.
- 10:25He was caught there one time and someone didn't know Oliver.
- 10:28And they called bylaw.
- 10:30And so Parkland County doesn't have a cat bylaw.
- 10:34So they said, well, we'll come out and check it out.
- 10:36Just see who this cat is.
- 10:38And within minutes, Amazon phoned bylaw back and said, no need to come out.
- 10:43We just found out that Oliver does have clearance to be at Amazon.
- 10:45So we're good.
- 10:47Security clearance for Amazon.
- 10:48Jeff Bezos, did you hear that?
- 10:50A cat has security clearance for Amazon.
- 10:53I love it.
- 10:54Yeah, and then, so that day, yeah, Kaylee would always get phone calls after phone calls, come and get your cat.
- 11:02And Kaylee would say, well, just tell him to go home.
- 11:04They're like, yeah, well, we tried and he won't go home.
- 11:07Well, we'll just keep him for the day.
- 11:08Like they just, they didn't mind.
- 11:10You know, he just became part of their lifestyle.
- 11:13And then I'd get messages on Instagram from all the workers taking pictures.
- 11:16He was up there when they were doing like the rebar and stuff for the concrete.
- 11:21He was up there helping.
- 11:22Yeah.
- 11:23Are those pictures on Instagram?
- 11:25They might be, lower down in the Oliver days.
- 11:27That's a plug if you're not, if you're to friend Felix The Shot Cat, so you can go back and look at all the pictures of Oliver on there as well.
- 11:36And then we know sadly that unfortunately, Oliver has since passed away.
- 11:44yes.
- 11:44On June 1st of last year, we lost Oliver.
- 11:47And it was one of those things that we had talked about as workers and stuff, and because we all got attached to him, obviously, after four years.
- 11:54And we all kind of knew in the back of our mind that it was a risk having an indoor, outdoor cat, that things happen.
- 12:00And sure enough, one day that did happen.
- 12:04And actually, we found him just over there.
- 12:08And thankfully, the GPS is what helped us find him.
- 12:13But yeah, after that, we...
- 12:15Because a cat adds culture to the space.
- 12:18Tell us a little bit about that.
- 12:19Because it seems like your whole company, all the staff has bought in to the cats.
- 12:24Oh yes, absolutely.
- 12:26He, even people who are like, oh, I just like dogs.
- 12:29I'm not a cat person.
- 12:30Right.
- 12:31Felix and Oliver converted everybody.
- 12:33They're all cat people.
- 12:35Right.
- 12:35And so everybody likes to come into work and they look forward to him because he'll lay in the middle of the mat when everybody's checking in and just want belly rubs.
- 12:44And you have to walk over him to get to work.
- 12:47So you got to rub.
- 12:48It's a belly rub tax.
- 12:49Yeah.
- 12:50Yeah.
- 12:51Yeah.
- 12:51So so yeah, after Oliver passed away, we decided we would wait until the fall to get another cat.
- 12:58It wasn't an option of not getting another cat.
- 13:01We had to have another cat.
- 13:02Yeah.
- 13:03When's the right time.
- 13:04Yeah.
- 13:04And we only lasted like two months.
- 13:06It was just depressing.
- 13:08You know, we had all this cat stuff around and no cat.
- 13:11So, yeah, then we found Felix and...
- 13:14So tell us that story because I love that story.
- 13:18How did you find Felix?
- 13:20Well, I follow Old MacDonald Kennels.
- 13:23It's a rescue out of the Ponoka area.
- 13:26And this cat came up on my Facebook feed and he was just adorable laying in his pet valu cage.
- 13:34And he had these big paws.
- 13:35And I thought, oh, those are perfect mousing paws.
- 13:38And so I phoned one of my co-workers, Ralph, and or sorry, he phoned me after I tagged him in it.
- 13:45And he's like, well, we can just go check him out.
- 13:47And I said, well, it's a little bit early in the game, but yeah, why not check him out?
- 13:52And then we decided we would just leave him there.
- 13:54If this was the cat for us, we would leave him there because it was a Friday and we didn't want to bring him to the shop over the weekend and leave him be.
- 14:01That's not nice.
- 14:02And so we were going to leave the kennel at home as well.
- 14:06And that didn't work.
- 14:07We brought the kennel with us.
- 14:08And then we ended up at the Pet Valu of Ponoka and his name was Rye at the time.
- 14:14And because he loves to loaf, so they named him Rye Bread.
- 14:18Yeah.
- 14:18And so we got there and we knew right away, we took him out of the kennel and it was a rainy day like this actually.
- 14:23And we took him out of the kennel and he was confident.
- 14:26Like when a cat walks out and they're confident, and you know, okay, he's going to man this building.
- 14:32yes.
- 14:32yes.
- 14:33He's not afraid of anything.
- 14:34If the air brakes go off on a truck, he's not going to run.
- 14:37He's not going to bolt him.
- 14:38You're not going to find him for a few months.
- 14:41So yeah, we put him back in the kennel and then these kids came and they're poking at him and teasing him.
- 14:48And I thought, well, that's not nice.
- 14:49I don't want to sit here in this store all weekend, being poked and prodded through the kennel.
- 14:55And so I looked at Ralph and I said, give me the keys to the car.
- 14:58I'm getting the kennel.
- 15:00It's like the IKEA commercial.
- 15:02Get in the car.
- 15:05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:06Pretty much, pretty much.
- 15:08And yeah, so we loaded him up and brought him here.
- 15:10And the minute we took him out of the kennel, he was like, oh, okay, yeah, this is cool.
- 15:16I'm good here.
- 15:17He wasn't afraid of anything.
- 15:19And yeah, as you can see, he just walks around.
- 15:22He's a confident cat.
- 15:23Well, he owns this place.
- 15:25He does.
- 15:25He truly does.
- 15:27The world revolves around him here.
- 15:29He does.
- 15:29And it's funny, Cheryl, I've been in many of the offices here, and every single office has a cat bed.
- 15:37yes.
- 15:38There is multiple cat toys.
- 15:40There's treats everywhere.
- 15:41However, we have been informed that poor Felix is currently on a diet.
- 15:45yes, he is.
- 15:46So he's not too happy about his diet.
- 15:48But you mentioned you went to the vet and he's lost...
- 15:51He's lost a half a pound.
- 15:52Half a pound.
- 15:52yes.
- 15:52So he's on the road to weight loss.
- 15:55yes.
- 15:56But he did take his diet quite, I don't know what the word would be.
- 16:00He was a little bit irritated about the diet.
- 16:01Well, yeah.
- 16:02Decided he would just take it upon himself to go find his food.
- 16:05Want to tell us a little bit about, well...
- 16:06Yeah.
- 16:09When you don't, you've got to find food.
- 16:11So he found food, right?
- 16:13He has plenty of food here.
- 16:15But yeah, no, we have resident Jack Rabbit's here.
- 16:19And a little while ago, he had found the nest of the bunnies.
- 16:23Right.
- 16:23And then we think that a Jack Rabbit might have beat him up because he had an injury on his back claw.
- 16:30And then he decided he'd go take care of that Jack Rabbit.
- 16:33So...
- 16:34Wow.
- 16:34Yeah, that one was no longer existent.
- 16:38Wow.
- 16:39Well...
- 16:39Yeah.
- 16:40Yeah.
- 16:40I mean, you got to defend yourself.
- 16:41yes.
- 16:41Good for Felix, you know.
- 16:42It's his territory, his.
- 16:44So nobody get upset.
- 16:45Nobody call or write letters or anything like that.
- 16:48PETA, don't come after us.
- 16:49What do they call it?
- 16:50The circle of life.
- 16:51That's what it is.
- 16:51It's nature.
- 16:53So nobody get all tense about all this.
- 16:55It's all good.
- 16:56Yeah.
- 16:56That's right.
- 16:58Well, that's pretty amazing.
- 16:59Can we just go back to something because, and I don't want to belabor the point, because I know it's a bit of a soft spot, but when Oliver passed away, you had an amazing, people were amazing.
- 17:10Tell us about that.
- 17:12Like honestly, like for a cat, like it was unbelievable.
- 17:15Yeah.
- 17:15I had no idea the reach that Oliver had and that every day people were looking forward to his posts.
- 17:22And then when he passed away and I made the post, the response that I got and even just personal messages and messages on Instagram, I actually had to shut it down for a little while because I couldn't handle it.
- 17:35And then we were getting gifts from lots of people, from people I've never met.
- 17:41And it was just an outpouring.
- 17:44And so that's when I knew when we got Felix that I would need to keep this up because there were a lot of people.
- 17:51Yeah, So he brings both of them bring joy to people on a daily basis.
- 17:57I know his Instagram post bring me joy on a daily basis.
- 18:01And I so look forward to what is he up to today?
- 18:05Yeah, I agree.
- 18:06I have to be honest.
- 18:07When I open Instagram, I'm always hoping there's a new Felix The Cat.
- 18:12And there usually is.
- 18:12So you guys do an amazing job on your media side of it.
- 18:16And I think that's really cool.
- 18:18Can you just and we touched on it a little bit, but tell us about the culture it brings.
- 18:23Like just what does it do for your entire staff in terms of your whole team and everyone around here?
- 18:29What is, how does Felix contribute to that?
- 18:31It's teamwork with him.
- 18:33Like as much as I do the social media, it's the team that is sending me pictures and catching him and doing weird stuff.
- 18:41And they all probably if you open anybody's phone, they probably have over 100 pictures of Felix at any given time.
- 18:49And Felix, his name is actually in Latin, it means happy or lucky.
- 18:54Okay.
- 18:54Which, you know, we're very happy that he came to us and we're lucky to have him.
- 18:58Yeah, for sure.
- 18:59So his name is suiting for him.
- 19:01But yeah, as culture, when the guys come off the road and, you know, a Saturday night and nobody's here, just Felix to greet them, they love that.
- 19:10Yeah.
- 19:11And sometimes he'll get into their trucks and, you know, we're closing up the shop and we're like, where's Felix?
- 19:16So he's in a truck.
- 19:17So we have to check trucks every now and then.
- 19:19Yeah, I was going to say, yeah, that's right.
- 19:22Get 200 miles down the road and all of a sudden, Felix appears in the cab.
- 19:26There you go.
- 19:26Hey, how's that going?
- 19:27That almost happened with Oliver once, actually.
- 19:29One of our drivers, when we were at Walker crescent, he was driving through the gate and he just sensed that something was not right.
- 19:37Something was in his bunk and he looked and there was Oliver.
- 19:40There was Oliver.
- 19:40Yeah.
- 19:41Road trip.
- 19:41Where are we going?
- 19:42Did he get to go with them for the whole?
- 19:43No, he had to bring him back.
- 19:46Well, you know, it's kind of interesting.
- 19:49Sorry.
- 19:50Every now and then, Felix just lets out a little meow over there.
- 19:53And he really wants out.
- 19:54I can tell.
- 19:55He's looking at that door like there's something on the other side of that door that's better than in here.
- 19:59Yeah, people.
- 20:01But there's something to be said, I think.
- 20:03And we all know this lately, especially we've seen.
- 20:06We've seen a lot of lack of a better word, therapy pets and things like that.
- 20:11And so we know that there is a very therapeutic part to all of this.
- 20:14It's great for people's mental health.
- 20:16Yeah, absolutely.
- 20:17It's stress relief, it's calming.
- 20:19Absolutely.
- 20:20Yeah.
- 20:20And you guys have taken it, I think, just sort of to the next level that engages everybody in it, which I think is really cool.
- 20:26I think that's awesome.
- 20:27Well, when you have an awesome cat like that, you have to share him with the world.
- 20:30Yeah, for sure.
- 20:31That's right.
- 20:31He's a star.
- 20:32And we're hoping that after this podcast, that your numbers boost way up, more people start following Felix and checking in with him.
- 20:40It's just pretty cool.
- 20:42Well, and Felix wants to be a part of everything as well.
- 20:45Like Oliver was more interested in doing outdoor stuff, whereas Felix is very much more in tune to the inside.
- 20:51Right.
- 20:52And when we're in the boardroom having staff meetings, he is right in the middle.
- 20:56Wow.
- 20:56yes.
- 20:56And he will walk to everybody, check everybody out, check what's in their cups, everything, and then lay in the middle.
- 21:02And even for our tailgate meetings, he's a part of them.
- 21:06Yeah.
- 21:06He just likes to participate.
- 21:07When it's lunchtime, he's right there.
- 21:09Oh, yeah.
- 21:09Yeah, obviously.
- 21:13Oh, that's amazing.
- 21:15Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 21:16I think it's really cool.
- 21:18I love this story.
- 21:19I just think that this is a really neat story.
- 21:21Well, I do too.
- 21:22And for anybody that's walked into businesses in Acheson, there actually are a lot of people that have animals in their office.
- 21:31Yeah.
- 21:31Whether you're bringing it from home just to hang out with you for the day or whether it's a permanent fixture in your office, there's a lot out here, but no one quite like Felix and Oliver.
- 21:42No.
- 21:43And I think I have a feeling after this, especially this podcast, I have a feeling that Felix is going to be a trendsetter.
- 21:52I agree.
- 21:54We may see some more Instagram pages.
- 21:55There could be.
- 21:56People say, yeah, well, we got a cool animal.
- 21:58We want to put that dog or that cat on Instagram.
- 22:01So that's cool, I think.
- 22:03And Cheryl, we were joking that the cat has more Instagram followers than both transport companies.
- 22:08yes.
- 22:08yes, they do.
- 22:09I remind Grant of that daily.
- 22:11Yeah.
- 22:12So come bonus time every year, the cat should get a pretty good bonus because he's attracting a lot of attention to the company.
- 22:19So I think that's pretty cool.
- 22:21Well, we've talked a lot this morning about Felix and we did that on purpose.
- 22:25We really wanted to do this and we really wanted to do our first road show, so to speak, coming to Bushell and then dealing with Felix.
- 22:33I don't know why I'm into Phoenix, but dealing with Felix.
- 22:36And I think it's really cool, but you guys have done an amazing job as well.
- 22:41Bushell is an amazing company.
- 22:43You really are.
- 22:44You're amazing here in Acheson.
- 22:46You're great members of the Acheson Business Association.
- 22:50And we really, really appreciate that.
- 22:52And both you and Grant are just really amazing people.
- 22:55And so, yeah.
- 22:58So you know what, Felix, I know you were meowing, but you are currently staring out the window.
- 23:05So I'm going to ask Cheryl the last question that we always ask each guest every time we do this podcast.
- 23:11We're going to put you on the spot.
- 23:12We're going to put you on the spot, Cheryl.
- 23:14So what is the best piece of advice that you've been given, that you carry with you to this day, either personally or professionally?
- 23:23Oh, gosh.
- 23:24Oh, wow.
- 23:27Yeah, we love putting our guest on the spot with that one.
- 23:29Yeah.
- 23:32I don't know.
- 23:35Probably just always, oh, God, I don't know.
- 23:38That's a hard one.
- 23:40I always say I have zero expectations for anything and anyone.
- 23:44I always go into everything that way.
- 23:48If they meet your expectations, you're good.
- 23:51If they go above your expectations, you're overwhelmed with excitement.
- 23:55Yeah.
- 23:56But if you set up the bar too high, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
- 24:01So that's kind of, I don't know if I said that really well.
- 24:07You know what I'm trying to say?
- 24:08Yeah.
- 24:09I think that's fantastic.
- 24:10I think that's really good.
- 24:12And like I said, we love putting our guests on the spot with that.
- 24:16Yeah, good job.
- 24:18Part of the reason we do that is because usually, then it just, you know, the one thing that pops to your mind is that really important thing for you.
- 24:26And I think that is really, really a great piece of advice.
- 24:30Oh, I agree.
- 24:31I think it's great advice for sure.
- 24:33Yeah.
- 24:33And you guys again are doing a great job here.
- 24:36And I'm so glad you're part of Acheson.
- 24:39And well, that about does it for today.
- 24:43I gotta admit, this has been awesome.
- 24:45I know we're probably going to spend a little bit more time hanging out with Felix and doing that and that kind of stuff.
- 24:53Jennifer, do you want to tell us about some things that are coming up with the ABA in Acheson?
- 24:57Yeah.
- 24:58So I know we've talked a lot about our Business Awards Gala coming up on Saturday, September 28th.
- 25:04Tickets are on sale and nominations close next Friday.
- 25:08So get those nominations in.
- 25:10But we're also going to be doing on, I believe it's a Thursday, it's September 5th.
- 25:15We're going to be doing a Welcome Back From Summer-Coffee In The Park at the ABA Parking Lot, which is also where the Wall Coffee Roasters is located.
- 25:26We're going to be bringing out some food trucks.
- 25:28We're going to be talking to some people and it's just going to be a way to welcome people back.
- 25:32Yeah.
- 25:33Kids aren't the only ones who have welcome back to school.
- 25:35Exactly.
- 25:36We want to welcome businesses back.
- 25:37It's parents celebrating.
- 25:39Yeah, kids are going back to school.
- 25:41Exactly.
- 25:42Yeah, no, I think that's going to be a great event.
- 25:43I'm looking forward to that.
- 25:45And one of our guests, our first guest, Jan Michener.
- 25:49yes.
- 25:50Her food truck is going to be there.
- 25:51Her food truck is going to be there.
- 25:52So come out and support Jan Michener, local Acheson business owner.
- 25:56Yeah.
- 25:57So I'm pretty excited about that.
- 25:58That's going to be a lot of fun and come and grab some food and hang out and do some networking and build some relationships.
- 26:04And maybe one day at one of our events, we can talk Cheryl into bringing Felix along so that you get to meet Felix.
- 26:12He has a harness.
- 26:13Yeah.
- 26:14We can sign autograph.
- 26:15Well, we could put his little paw in ink and he could like put ink on people.
- 26:19And that'd be like his signature.
- 26:21Exactly.
- 26:22Yeah.
- 26:22Cheryl, tell us what his Instagram handle is.
- 26:25Yeah.
- 26:25Oh, we want to make sure that people follow Felix.
- 26:30Yeah.
- 26:31It is Felix underscore the underscore shop underscore cat. (Felix_The_Shop_Cat) Cool.
- 26:37Felix underscore the underscore shop underscore cat. (Felix_The_Shop_Cat) Cat.
- 26:46Get it all in there.
- 26:47That's really awesome.

- 27:06He dressed up for this occasion.
- 27:08I know.
- 27:09I should have wore a bow tie.
- 27:11Because I didn't know he was going to be so formal, but he's looking pretty awesome.
