Author: John, the son of Zebedee. He is not mentioned by name as the author, but refers to himself as the one the Lord loved, meaning he was a good friend of Jesus. So this gospel is written by someone who was with Jesus.

Date: ca.50-60's AD most likely, until recently it was believed to have been written later like ca. 85-90
