  It seems that everywhere you look these days.
• 1:32
  People are talking about your personal purpose statement or your corporate mission statement.
• 1:38
  And everyone's trying to give their little tidbits about what it should be.
• 1:44
  And there are thousands upon thousands of books that are written on how to write
• 1:48
  your purpose statement.
• 1:50
  Jesus Christ gave us his purpose statement in Luke chapter 19 and verse 10,
• 1:56
  when he said that he came to seek and to save those which were lost.
• 2:00
  And then he gave us a purpose statement when he said, to go ye into all the
• 2:06
  world and teach them and baptize them.
• 2:08
  And in other words, you are the light of the world, as he said in Matthew chapter 5.
• 2:12
  So we know the things that we are supposed to do.
• 2:16
  We understand this sort of umbrella under which we're supposed to live.
• 2:22
  Yet I believe most of us sort of spend our whole life not finding that specific...
• 2:29
  Place where that fits in
• 2:32
  our life and what we do is we often just
• 2:36
  sort of live kind of helter skelter doing this
• 2:39
  or that and trying to do sort of general things
• 2:42
  that we think are right but most of us
• 2:45
  do not take time to embrace that absolute
• 2:50
  place in our heart in our life that says I
• 2:53
  know God said come follow me and
• 2:56
  I know that he has a purpose for me
• 2:59
  and that purpose is to spread his word and
• 3:03
  then to really begin to seek him for how
• 3:06
  he wants you to implement that purpose
• 3:09
  that he has for every Christian because he doesn't
• 3:12
  have the same job for all of us we have
• 3:15
  the same purpose which is to spread his word to
• 3:18
  be his servant to be his light but how
• 3:22
  i do it and how you do it may be
• 3:25
  very different and so when we're
• 3:28
  thinking about god and we're
• 3:31
  thinking about what he would have us to do it's imperative
• 3:35
  that we seek him with our
• 3:38
  entire being and that we call upon
• 3:41
  him and ask him what do you want me
• 3:45

  ecclesiastes chapter 3 and verse 1 it says to everything there is a season and.

  A time to every purpose under the heaven and.

  It also seems that a lot of times we lose sight of what God wants us to do.

  And we lose sight of the purpose that he has for us because we're so busy doing everything else.
• 4:16
  And we're busy going to church and we're busy going to work.
• 4:20
  We're busy taking care of the kids. We're busy living.
• 4:25
  And we forgot who we're living for.
• 4:28
  And so as we're talking over these next few
• 4:31
  moments i just want you to think about how
• 4:35
  you live your life because truly someone
• 4:38
  who's walking behind you and following
• 4:42
  you over the course of a day or so will be
• 4:45
  able to look at you and tell you what your purpose is and
• 4:49
  that's an honest truth because everything you
• 4:52
  do will reflect what's important
• 4:55
  to you and everything you do will
• 4:58
  reflect what you are motivated by
• 5:02
  and inspired by we need
• 5:04
  to make sure that we're living our
• 5:07
  life in such a way that our lips
• 5:10
  don't even have to speak what our purpose is but that
• 5:13
  people see jesus in us in everything
• 5:17
  we do and the only way that can happen is
• 5:20
  is if he is the center of all that we are
• 5:23
  and all that we do and when
• 5:26
  we talk about this if i'm sitting down with you and
• 5:30
  i'm chatting with you it all makes perfect sense and
• 5:33
  as you're listening to me you're saying okay kim tell me something i don't know
• 5:36
  but implementing it is a different story because we get so busy for instance
• 5:44
  i just asked you this question and you answered however you want to i'm not
• 5:48
  going to be able to hear you unless you're in the room with me and most of you are not.
• 5:52
  What did you do today for Jesus?
• 5:57
  What was the first thought on your mind when you awakened this morning?
• 6:02
  How many of you prayed before your feet hit the floor this morning?
• 6:09
  How many of you that did pray said something to the effect, Lord,
• 6:14
  what would you have me do today?
• 6:17
  Lord, where is the lost soul you're going to place in front of me?
• 6:22
  Dear heavenly father where should i be reading today in your blessed love letter
• 6:27
  to me that i might be able to clearly give this information to a lost and dying sinner,
• 6:35
  Or how many of us said, oh, no, the alarm goes off, you hit snooze.
• 6:38
  Sleep through what would have been your prayer time.
• 6:40
  And then you hop up and you were a little bit running late because you slept a little longer.
• 6:45
  And you go through your routine of getting yourself ready and you throw yourself
• 6:49
  out the door and you're driving down in the car and you may turn on a Christian station.
• 6:53
  That's sort of your feeding for the day. And you kind of just go through all
• 6:56
  the things you do and you pray maybe over your meal.
• 6:59
  And then suddenly dinner has come and gone and you're cleaning up and you're
• 7:03
  getting everything ready for bed. and you decided to pray again.
• 7:06
  And it wasn't Sunday or Wednesday, so you didn't open your Bible.
• 7:09
  You see, some of us don't even read during the day. Some of us don't even take our Bibles to church.
• 7:16
  And what a huge statement that is.
• 7:19
  See, we need to be focused.
• 7:23
  Nobody would get out of their house expecting to start their car without keys.
• 7:31
  Nobody expects to drive their car without fuel
• 7:34
  in it we may try it every now and then and
• 7:37
  run out of gas but we don't succeed but do
• 7:40
  you realize we try to run our christian life
• 7:43
  without any fuel from the father we try to start our our christian life without
• 7:51
  igniting the flame of fire within us through reading his word we don't even
• 7:59
  consult him on the route we should go through the day.
• 8:04
  How strange is it that most of us do never embark on a trip going somewhere
• 8:10
  that we've never been, that we don't at least ask somebody, look it up in directions,
• 8:15
  take a map or something to figure out how to get there.
• 8:18
  Yet most of us every morning embark on life's journey, having no concept of
• 8:24
  what the day is going to hold,
• 8:25
  have no idea who's going to be in front of us, have no idea what route we should
• 8:30
  take, and we've never consulted God for the directions, the creator of the universe,
• 8:36
  the one who holds the day in his hand, the one who said in Jeremiah 29,
• 8:39
  11, that I have a plan for you.
• 8:41
  We just go on alone thinking we can do this.
• 8:45
  And then we'll search for purposes and goals and objectives and mission statements
• 8:50
  and all these wonderful things that can help us in our life as long as those
• 8:55
  mission statements and those goals and those purpose statements are all centered on Jesus Christ.

  You see, it's wonderful to have them.
• 9:05
  In the work that I do, I am forced to be able to say one of those mission statements
• 9:10
  right out of the top of my head in a purpose statement.
• 9:12
  Mine happens to be, don't let my actions betray my heart.
• 9:16
  In other words, I'm living out what God has put in me.
• 9:20
  You see, but the real purpose of my life is that others may see Jesus in me.
• 9:26
  And so I need to get up in the morning and feed myself
• 9:29
  that how many of you read the morning newspaper before you walk out the door
• 9:33
  nothing wrong with that unless you didn't read his word and his news bulletin
• 9:40
  before you walked out the door how many of you absolutely positively have to
• 9:46
  know what the weather is before you open up the front door.
• 9:49
  How come you just didn't consult the weatherman who can tell you the weather
• 9:54
  in your life that day? Are you going to have some hardships?
• 9:57
  So you need to have read these encouraging words out of his word.
• 10:01
  Are you going to have an opportunity to chat with someone who has a dark night
• 10:07
  coming up and a stormy life?
• 10:09
  And so you need to have read these words in order to give that piece of life to them.
• 10:14
  You see, we consult the things of the world and we feed our flesh and we totally
• 10:19
  are living spiritually anorexic.
• 10:21
  That ought not be, brethren, as the scriptures say.
• 10:26
  Because Jesus said, I come to give you life and give it more abundantly.
• 10:30
  But you know what? He has a plan and we're so far from the plan that we're living
• 10:35
  a very discouraged life, some of us.
• 10:37
  And God never intended for you to be discouraged.
• 10:41
  Yes, he may have allowed some rain to fall in your life.
• 10:45
  And yes, he may have allowed some obstacles, but he
• 10:48
  said he knew the way because he was the way he said
• 10:51
  he would provide all your needs he said you could do all things through christ
• 10:54
  which strengthens you none of those obstacles were to ever make you live a life
• 10:59
  less than abundant in fact each of them were to move you in the direction you
• 11:03
  needed to be and to mold you in the person you should be so that you could have
• 11:07
  all the blessings that he has for you so that your life would be greatly abundant.
• 11:12
  Friends, a purpose in your life will drive you forward.
• 11:17
  And no greater purpose has there ever been than to love the God of the universe who first loved you.
• 11:23
  And that purpose will inspire you and it will motivate you.
• 11:26
  It will motivate you to do good when you have opportunity. It will motivate
• 11:30
  you to love your brethren even when they haven't shown you the love that you
• 11:33
  feel you deserve. It will motivate you to be a light in a lost and dark world.
• 11:37
  And these things that are here on this earth are very temporal.
• 11:42
  But the rewards that you're laying up in heaven are eternal.
• 11:46
  You see, all the things that you do to serve the flesh, all of the exercise
• 11:51
  you do to make yourself extremely healthy, all of the things that you do, they all have a place.
• 11:56
  But only if they are centered in Jesus Christ and only if they are following
• 12:01
  his will and plan for your life.
• 12:03
  Your purpose in life is to follow God. And he said, I am the way and I have a plan.
• 12:09
  Your purpose is to love the Lord God with all your heart, your soul, your might.
• 12:13
  And he said in due time, he would exalt you. Oh, my friends,
• 12:17
  I encourage you to find your purpose statement.
• 12:20
  But I implore you to make sure it is centered and focused in Jesus Christ.
• 12:29
