- 2:23Friday at Harvard University. I know Hopey focused on a little bit. I'm

- 2:42So let's go back to the election of twenty twenty two. Voters of
- 2:46Putnam County were asked to either vote for or against a fire and Ambulance levey
- 2:51that would have change the way that fire fees are assessed in the county.
- 2:53Now voters do not approve it by a large enough margin, and now when
- 2:58they go to the ballot box this year, they'll give me asked to reassess
- 3:00the issue. John Smooth is with us right now, and he is with
- 3:05the Tays Valley Fire Department. Is that right? Yes? Sir? All
- 3:07right? And did I get the intro right on that? Yes, sir?
- 3:09Okay? All right, Well good I'm bat in one thousand. Then
- 3:13good morning, welcome to the show. Chef, Good morning, thanks for
- 3:15having so explain to us. Basically, I mean you said I set it
- 3:19up, okay in the intro there, but how does this whole thing work?
- 3:22Okay? So the last attempt that we did for the levy on the
- 3:28November twenty two ballot came in somewhere between fifty two and fifty three percent,
- 3:32and at that time the sixty percent was required, so you know it didn't
- 3:38meet that that mark. So it's up again in May, and it is
- 3:45this time it is solely going to Putnam County Fire Service, okay, and
- 3:53it will be two point five million. And the biggest thing that we have
- 4:00on our really agenda is to create a better answer for our staffing woes that
- 4:09we have in the fire service really across this country. Now, why is
- 4:14that? Why are I mean because back when you were and I know everybody
- 4:17can't have the quote unquote sexy exciting job. But back when you were a
- 4:21kid, when I was growing up, everybody wanted to be a fireman or
- 4:24a policeman or something. But why are more people not wanting to go into
- 4:27these fields. I think it's a lot of things that I think it really
- 4:31took a spiral after COVID, the demands that were placed on first responders and
- 4:42what we were walking into. And you know, a lot of people thought
- 4:46that was a lot of unknowns and they just really don't find it appealing to
- 4:53come in that kind of business anymore. So why didn't it pass in your
- 4:56opinion of Putnam County in twenty twenty two? Why did not pass a large
- 5:00enough margin? Because I mean, you know, I live in Putnham County
- 5:02and it's an area that I would think would be all about this sort of
- 5:05thing. I mean, I don't care to tell you, I'm my wife
- 5:10and I both voted for it. Why do you think it didn't get the
- 5:13numbers? I wonder if we were out early enough to get the message out
- 5:18enough. I wonder if we were in the right places to get the messages
- 5:24out, and we were working on a real tight time window, and we're
- 5:30not a whole lot different this time either, And it's just dynamics that we
- 5:35could not do anything about. But I think it had a large part to
- 5:40do it. Okay, So what is that message that's why you're here on
- 5:44the show today, John, what is this message that you want to get
- 5:46out to the residents of Putnham County. Well, Dave, you know,
- 5:49I think we can go back to some of the experiences that Tays Valley has
- 5:54had. And in twenty twelve, we realized that we no longer could do
- 5:59it as a volunteer apartment. We were running about a thousand calls a year
- 6:04at that point. We were getting out about fifty percent of the time,
- 6:10and it's just because we didn't have people to do it. And then sometimes
- 6:14even when we went out, we didn't go out with enough people to handle
- 6:16the job. And so there was really obstacles that has been into making for
- 6:25over a decade now. So our answer to it we went to seek staffing
- 6:31grants. We put people on duty twenty four hours a day, they were
- 6:36paid and we started building the system from really the ground floor up. A
- 6:44year later. After we did that, then we answered every call that came
- 6:49in. We saw fifty percent increase in calls that year. We went up
- 6:54to fifteen hundred and now we're wrestling with the four thousand mark. And you
- 7:02just can't do that without people. We have good equipment, we have good
- 7:08vehicles, we just do not have people to ride them and to work the
- 7:13equipment. And without the people, you can have all you want, but
- 7:18if you don't have the people to do the work, and AI is not
- 7:23taken over this part of the Absolutely, they haven't done that yet. Absolutely.
- 7:27Yeah, we're talking to do John Smooth about this upcoming what's now going
- 7:30to be I guess a solely for the fire department. It will on on
- 7:35the day Volland showing five evy Live day valance showing five Eddy Life is brought
- 7:39to you apartment by Huston's Pizza. Get an eighteen inch Pepperoni pizza and a
- 7:42pizza bowl only twenty two to ninety nine. Get your nearest Huston's location at
- 7:46Huston's Pizza dot com for dining, pickup or delivery so explain the difference is
- 7:50the way that the wording is going to be from what it was on the
- 7:53ballot, John, in twenty twenty two to twenty twenty four, you said
- 7:56it's going to be just for the fire departments. Now, yes it is.
- 7:59Okay, Explain that the last time it was on the ballot, it
- 8:03was a three million dollar ask and at that point, one point eight million
- 8:11was to go to the fire service, one point two million was to go
- 8:15to the MS system in Putnam. And through the time between then and now,
- 8:22it was decided that the fire service would enter into this referendum by itself.
- 8:30And that's what you really need to look for on the ballot and completely
- 8:35understand that. And the biggest demand for us is like again, people m
- 8:41and it eats up most of the budget. Of course, in any business
- 8:46setting, we don't want to, you know, play the fear factor game
- 8:50here. But what if this fails this time around, John, what could
- 8:54potentially happen for Putnam County residents? Well, the same thing that happened in
- 8:58the Two Valley community in late summer of twenty three. We were running into
- 9:07funding issues. We're trained to supply emergency medical services to the community whilst providing
- 9:16funding to staff fire trucks. That is a difficult balance to reach. And
- 9:26the oddity about that is is that the money that we generate out of the
- 9:30fire service fees now cannot be used for salaries due to state statute. The
- 9:37money that volunteer and combination fire departments get from the state through our insurance premium
- 9:45surtax, we can't use any of that money for salaries. So when it
- 9:50comes to staffing, there has to be something else made available to take care
- 9:54of of the people part. And so you're hoping that voters past this this
- 10:00time around that that should hopefully take care of it, Yes, sir,
- 10:03And this will be on the may It will be on the May about So
- 10:05it's a yes or no. Yes, sir, it's a yes or no.
- 10:09And this time around, does there have to be a percentage wise like
- 10:13there was last time? We're fairly certain that it needs to be a fifty
- 10:16plus one fifty plus one this time around. I posted some information that I
- 10:20got from the Facebook page on my Facebook page Dave Allen Radio. So if
- 10:24the listeners want to go and read more about it, they can, But
- 10:28is other than that, I mean, what are you doing for educating people?
- 10:31You said, maybe you didn't get the message out last time. You've
- 10:33been out talking to civic groups, church groups. What have you been doing
- 10:35on social media? And then we will be in frontacivic organizations as well.
- 10:39Over the next time, you're'll be heading up the rotaries and the kowanas and
- 10:43things like that. I'll leave, so I'll give you the final I do
- 10:46this with my political candidates. I do something I call the final thirty where
- 10:50I give them thirty seconds uninterrupted to talk about why people should vote for them.
- 10:54So I'm going to treat you like a political candidate. Now I'm going
- 10:56to say, in your opinion, how important is this job? Well,
- 11:01it comes back to the staffing issues, and if we do not have people
- 11:07to do the work for the demand that's being presented to us, we are
- 11:13just not going to be able to offer good service. So, if you
- 11:20care about your community, if you care about your family, if you care
- 11:22about your friends, Tay's Valley experienced a loss. We went from a twenty
- 11:28four hour staffing to a twelve hour staffing on on fire apparatus, and that
- 11:35is creating obstacles. But the staffing is required. We again, we have
- 11:45really good equipment to do our work, but we do not have the people,
- 11:50and the people are not wanting to come into business. So that's it.
- 11:54It's bottom line, all right, John, I appreciate you being here.
- 11:58John Smooth, I appreciate you being here. And again with voter is
- 12:00go to the ballot box. I still call it a ballot box. It's
- 12:03not really a ballot box. And were Brian Wood wouldn't like that. When
- 12:05I say a ballot box, it's a when they go to face their computer
- 12:09screen, I guess in May they'll be seeing that. John, I appreciate
- 12:11you being here. Man, Thanks a lot, all right. The Dave

- 15:37the show down State Agriculture Commissioner Cant Leonhard. Good morning, sir, Welcome
- 15:41to the show. Good morning, Dave. Thanks for having me on.
- 15:45It's a beautiful day out there. It looks like so far well, and
- 15:48you're a farmer, so you would know what a beautiful day is, right.
- 15:50Yeah, we worked every day of the year, but beautiful days are
- 15:54always welcome. They are indeed. So you were just on a couple of
- 15:58weeks ago, Commissioner, but I promised to have you back because I wanted
- 16:02to talk about the Winter Blues Farmers Market over the Kttle Seaman Convention Center a
- 16:06couple of weeks ago. How'd it go? Oh? It was so incredible.
- 16:11In two years, we've almost doubled the number of vendors and doubled the
- 16:15sales. Attendance continues to grow. We're estimating somewhere between five thousand and six
- 16:22thousand people showed up this time. And I want to take a moment,
- 16:26Dave, to thank all the listeners out there that attended, and everybody in
- 16:30the Kanal Valley or traveled as far to get to this year's market. It
- 16:36was a great event. All the comments we've gotten have been super and I
- 16:41want to encourage everybody to put it on their calendar for Saturday, March first,
- 16:45twenty twenty five. We're going to do it all again. Talk about
- 16:48some of the places that people came from. I mean they came from Obviously
- 16:52you're going to pick up people from here in the Kanal Valley because of the
- 16:55location. But people, I mean, people came from all over for this
- 16:57thing. Many did, and I saw some legislators from all the eastern Panhandles
- 17:03showed ups. Well they're already in town. But the support was just incredible.
- 17:08The sales were super We had more variety. I would say, people
- 17:17came from about every corner of the state. Well that's good, that's exactly
- 17:22what we're that's what we want to see, and we want to bring them
- 17:23into town. We want them to spend some money why they're here, and
- 17:26that we want them to spend some money at the Farmer's Market, which they
- 17:30did. They did, they certainly did. I mean we had the highest
- 17:33sales ever. We had over one hundred and forty thousand dollars. It's a
- 17:37twenty percent increase from last year. And all that money goes back into the
- 17:42pockets of the vendors there. The department doesn't keep that or anything else it
- 17:48all goes to them and helps them. It bridges that gap that they have
- 17:52during that slow period from the fall leading up to Christmas and then when things
- 17:59start to pick up again in the spring. So it's welcomed by the vendors
- 18:02and it's certainly been welcomed by the citizens of West Virginia. Talking to say

- 18:26a General Hardware WV dot com. All right, So now that that's behind
- 18:30us, sir, what are you working on next? Well, we're actually
- 18:34starting to get ready for the States Fair. We're starting to do all the
- 18:37planning. We've started the planning that starts the day after the last they're in,
- 18:41right, but that's going to be in August. They've got a great
- 18:47lineup of entertainers for the evening. Those shows are always good. And then
- 18:55we also have a lot of other fairs and festivals coming up. We've got
- 18:59the Strawberry Fast coming up in May. That's one of the early ones.
- 19:03And just there's like one hundred and seventeen fairs and festivals in the state of
- 19:07West Virginia and they're all throughout the state. I wish I could go to
- 19:11everyone. I get to as many as they can as we promote agriculture throughout
- 19:15West Virginia. Everybody's got to fest everybody to go to them. Everybody's got
- 19:21a festival. That Strawberry Festival is huge. That's Buckcannon, right, that's
- 19:23in Buck Cannon. And we're getting strawberries earlier and earlier now in West Virginia
- 19:30with our high tunnel technology and all. So more and more growers are growing
- 19:34strawberries in the state of West Virginia. And I hear that there's maybe some
- 19:38others getting ready to start soon as well. So we'll look forward to some
- 19:42of those announcements in the future. Commissioner the Cavender says, technically it's still
- 19:47winter time, but you know, we're going to change the clock to this
- 19:48weekend people, I think, especially with the weather we've had here in the
- 19:52Kanaal Valley of the last couple of days, you reference it as we started
- 19:55the top of the segment, So I think I think people are now kind
- 19:57of in springtime mode. What does spring mean in the world of agriculture in
- 20:02West Virginia, Well, the spring is what you know, some of the
- 20:06old timers used to call it green up time because that's when everything, you
- 20:10know, the leaves come back out, the grass starts to grow. You
- 20:12don't have to feed your feed hay in the winters, and the animals can
- 20:18feed on more nutritious fresh green grass, not less supplements needing. It's also
- 20:23a matter of new birth. It's you know, when our a lot of
- 20:26the animals and the wildlife are born in the spring. A lot of people
- 20:30will cave in the spring to time it with what nature used to be.
- 20:34So spring is like a new birth. As the beginning of the new year,
- 20:38you come of the dolphums of winter. Attitudes improved because you know,
- 20:42the shorter days, less sunlight, gloomy doesn't always help our mental attitudes sometimes,
- 20:49but when you get longer days and you get outside in the bright sunlight,
- 20:53mental health improves, and it's just like I said early on, it's
- 20:59a time of birth and new birth and new growth. The Commission, it's
- 21:03always a pleasure to have you on the show. And again, hands off
- 21:06to you and your staff and all of the vendors really, as you said,
- 21:08the volunteers and everybody that went into making the Winter Blues Farmer Market such
- 21:12a huge success a couple of weeks ago at the Kyle Semen Convention Center.
- 21:15No, it's going to be a busy time for you and your staff.
- 21:18As you said, spring means rebirth and everybody's out there doing all the stuff.
- 21:22I appreciate you being here, sir, Thanks a lot, thank you.
- 21:25And I want to say thank you to our partner in this with WVU
- 21:29Extension Services. We all work together, couldn't do it without them, all
- 21:33right. I appreciate you being here, sir. We'll talk again soon.

- 23:37A horrific story out of Calhoun County, just a couple of counties over from
- 23:44from US, and I just I had read about it on the website wv
- 23:48metronews dot com. We've got an end depth story and a photograph there,
- 23:51and actually normally while I'm doing the show, have the TV on one of

- 24:08a hillside, over an embankment, and several students were injured. One had
- 24:12to be life flighted. I understand none of the injuries are expected to be

- 28:41the show now, Melody Rocker, who's a candidate running for magistrate in District
- 28:44twelve in kanahk County. Melody, welcome to the show. Thank you,
- 28:47thank you for being here. Explain to the listeners, and you and I
- 28:49were talking about a little bit during the break, how exactly do these districts
- 28:55work in Kanawk County because it's actually changed over the years. Join that.
- 28:59Yes, back in to twelve, we ran as what was called a pack
- 29:03where you had the Democrats and the Republicans. So then you would have a
- 29:07runoff in May, and then you would go in November to have the general
- 29:12work ten. Yes, you would pick your ten. Now they changed that,
- 29:17I believe it was back in twenty sixteen. They changed that to where
- 29:22we have divisions, so it doesn't matter where you live or anything like that,
- 29:27you just picked the division that you're running in. And then also for
- 29:32the voters to know, they added three magistrate spots this time, so instead
- 29:37of ten, we actually have thirteen divisions, so you got thirteen different folks
- 29:42it'll be yeah. And are they all up at the same time every year,
- 29:47yes, so they're not staggered in any ways. What you're saying,
- 29:49right, everybody's up at the same time. Now are you registered? And
- 29:52I only reason I asked this or is you're registered? What your party is?
- 29:55Because if I don't ask, even if it's judicial, even if it's
- 29:57magisterial, I get a text somebody saying you didn't ask what their party was,
- 30:02so you cared to diulgent. Oh I'm great with that. I am
- 30:06a Republican, okay, all right, Again, it's one of those offices
- 30:10that it really doesn't make a difference. However, However, when I have
- 30:12a guest on the show, somebody always said, you didn't ask whether they
- 30:15were Democrat or Republicans. So you are registered to Republican. So why do
- 30:19you want to be a magistrate? Well, actually I have twenty years of
- 30:22its twenty plus years as a magistrate assistant. Okay, okay, Now what
- 30:27does a magistrate assistant actually do? A lot? Besides as system magistrate,
- 30:32I got that party. They do everything that the mangistrate does except make decisions.
- 30:38Okay. The magistrate makes the decisions and you make all the magic happen
- 30:42behind the scenes. So you are in criminal, you're in civil domestic violence.
- 30:52Honestly, the magistrate and the assistant if you are arrested, you are
- 30:56the very first person. You're the front lines of the court system. Whether
- 31:02you have a traffic ticket or you're accused of murder, you're going to come
- 31:07and see the magistrate first. So and you've been doing this for how many
- 31:11years? Was twenty plus years? So what made you decide Okay, now's
- 31:14my time? Actually I ran in twenty twelve and a couple of other times.
- 31:18So, and everybody knows Conall County is a big county, so you
- 31:23have to it's going to be magic if you win the first couple of times.
- 31:30So, I mean, it's a lot of ground to cover, Yes,
- 31:33there absolutely is. So I have been there. I knew from probably
- 31:38the first couple of years that I was there, I wanted to be a
- 31:41magistrate. And I've worked under the direction of Ward Harshbarger and Tim Howerin.
- 31:48So I came back and worked with Ward when he came when he came back,
- 31:53and I just I like helping people. I like that ass because you
- 32:00know when people come through those doors it's very intimidating, especially when they've never
- 32:07been there before and their families are in trouble. This is some people's worst
- 32:12day of their life. Yeah, I mean, it's not exactly. You
- 32:14don't always see the magistrate, you know, on sunshiny days. You know,
- 32:19it's usually something bad has happened, or something's bad happened to you or
- 32:22a family member or whatever is the reason why you were there. What to
- 32:28give us some of your I mean, you talked about your background as sorts
- 32:30of being in the system. But tell us about you the individual, any
- 32:34information that you care to share away from the job, whatever you want to
- 32:37share. I am a daughter, a wife, a mother of two grown
- 32:45children, and I have lots of grandchildren. And I'm now a chicken tender.
- 32:52I beg your pardon. I have five chickens, and I do a
- 32:59cat rescue and I have a lab, a black lab. So I like
- 33:06to make political figures seem a little bit more human from time to time,
- 33:08because they're not always seen that way. I am human, and yeah she
- 33:13is. I will verify she's human. She's actually in studio. Well,
- 33:15so I would like to say that I stepped away from the job back in
- 33:22twenty twenty two. I think it was because my mother was ill and I
- 33:28couldn't do both the jobs well, so I knew that it wasn't going to
- 33:34be a hard decision. I stepped away to take care of my mom and
- 33:37she died back in May twenty twenty three. So now I want to go
- 33:45with my dream and I want to make them. Yeah, I want to
- 33:47be a magistrate. Talking with Melanie Rocker again, his candidate for magistrate here
- 33:52in Canawlla County, what are some of the biggest needs in your opinion or
- 33:55concerns of the office. I think the biggest need is for people to be
- 34:04treated fairly. Everyone be treated fairly and with dignity when they come in.
- 34:10Compassion goes a long ways, common sense goes a long ways as well.
- 34:15I mean it's not everybody. There are some people that's innocent whenever they walk
- 34:22in there, and you should never be treated without dignity, right well,
- 34:27and you are innocential, proven guilty exactly, you know, no matter what,
- 34:30no matter what. So I guess you know, the biggest thing is
- 34:35is that whether you're a magistrate, whether you're a judge, whether you're a
- 34:37police officer, whatever. The biggest issue that we face here in Kanawah County
- 34:43and around the country for that matter, is drugs and the opioid crisis,
- 34:46and now we are fentanyl and heroin and all the other things come along with
- 34:51it. That's I've had people in the legal profession, from judges on down
- 34:55that have told me that something like ninety to ninety five percent of every case
- 34:59they see somehow involves drugs. Even if it's somebody stole a bicycle, well,
- 35:05it's to get money for drugs. If there was a domestic assault,
- 35:07chances are there were drugs involved somewhere. How here's the million million, two
- 35:13million dollar question, Melody, how do we fix that? If you knew
- 35:17that, you wouldn't be running for magistrate. I realized that. But what
- 35:21can be done? What can be done? I think that we need to
- 35:23have a drug court on the magistrate level. We have it in the circuit
- 35:30court level, and that has shown to be very positive and it has given
- 35:37positive outcome. We need to have something like that on the level of magistrate.
- 35:45I also was in juvenile and I was I worked juvenile several years.
- 35:52I worked. I went and helped these kids with community service, make people
- 35:59be held accountable, and whenever those children were held accountable, things went into
- 36:06a positive direction. We need that on magistrate level, make people be held
- 36:13accountable and do a drug court. I think that's the biggest need I really
- 36:20do. And you are one hundred percent right. Everything revolves around that.
- 36:25I went through the meth lab area or era. Sorry, when the meth
- 36:31labs were everything, that's nothing compared to what we are battling right now.
- 36:38And you don't realize that every family out there is connected certain way a dead
- 36:46oh, and it doesn't matter your socioeconomic status. Everybody, if you think
- 36:51about it, can think about somebody in their family, maybe somebody married into
- 36:54your family, or whatever the case may be. That this has been an
- 36:57issue for And it's a good point. I think you up about what we're
- 37:00dealing with because drugs go in cycles. You know, it was it was
- 37:04cocaine, it was crack cocaine, and now and now with your scene with
- 37:07fentanyl, this is a totally different ballgame because we've never seen in law enforcement
- 37:12people and medical professionals Melody will tell you that we've never seen anything quite like
- 37:16this. And and and they're getting trying to get out in front of this
- 37:19by saying one pill can kill. And now whereas people would go down to
- 37:23the corner and hit up their local drug dealer for something, they can order
- 37:28a lot of the stuff on the internet and it delivered delivered directly to their
- 37:30homes with no no middleman required. That's pretty scary stuff. Absolutely, And
- 37:37I think that we forget about another victim in all this, and that's the
- 37:42children. Yes, the children are a big victim of this. And do
- 37:46we want the generation to keep going? No, we need to solve the
- 37:52problem for the children as well. Yeah. Again we're talking Melody Rockers,
- 37:55a candidate running for magistrate here. And some times I think that people may
- 38:01be in general public could be maybe ignorant the way that the system works,
- 38:06because anytime there's a crime, they'll say something like that, well, why
- 38:09was he or she back out on the streets. Again, Well, a
- 38:10lot of times, as a magistrate or judge for that matter, your hands
- 38:15are tied. There are sentencing guidelines for judges. There are things that you
- 38:17can do and that you can't do that it is correct. And again magistrates,
- 38:23I mean they can only do so much. Magistrates can only do so
- 38:30much with bonds. They have the right to bond hearings within three days.
- 38:35I mean, you're going to have a tough way to keep them in jail.
- 38:39And again, if we have more resources and more help for people,
- 38:44then we wouldn't see the crime as we do. Yeah, and you see,
- 38:49my friends in law enforcement melody have told me that that they see a
- 38:52lot of the same people, and I would assume that that's that's the exact
- 38:57case for a magistrate. Oh, Johnny's back again. He's back again.
- 39:00Yes, sadly, that's what. How's the campaign been so far for you?
- 39:04It's doing well. You mentioned Knawk County's a big county. You've been
- 39:07out doing some door knocking and as best you can, as the best I
- 39:10can door knocking, you will be seeing me holding a sign and waving in
- 39:15the areas. I mean it is. It's a big county and you just
- 39:21My big thing is if you want to talk to me, reach out to
- 39:24me. I am available anytime to talk. I would love to talk to
- 39:29people. I just had a few people call me last week and do interviews
- 39:32with me because they are voters. Like how you and I are talking.
- 39:37I would love to talk to voters like that, okay. Well, and
- 39:40there are various organizations I do that do meet the candidates type things and things
- 39:45of that nature, so you'd be open to those things absolutely. So how
- 39:47many people are are we looking at when the Canaw County voters go to the
- 39:51ballot booth? I remeard it as a ballot box earlier, and it's not
- 39:55really a ballot box anymore. I'm old school that way. But so,
- 39:59how many people are running? Approximately? Do you have any idea how many
- 40:01people? Just for a lot of people? Oh? Yeah? So what
- 40:07makes you the best? What makes you the best or the most qualified?
- 40:09Misqualified? I only have three other candidates that I'm running again, okay,
- 40:15okay, And what makes me the best candidate in that area is my experience,
- 40:22my twenty plus years experience. I have also ran for that office before,
- 40:29and I feel like that I want to help people, and I know
- 40:35how to be compassionate as well as hardcore, if you will, And I
- 40:40know how to treat people with dignity and be fair. All right, my
- 40:46final thirty, as I do with all our political candidates, why should somebody
- 40:50vote for Melanie Rocker for magistrate in District twelve in Canon County again, you
- 40:53should vote for Melanie Rucker because I have the experience, I care about the
- 41:00Canawan County area. I am a lifetime I'm a lifetime resident here and I'm
- 41:08just like you. I have family, I have grandchildren that I want to
- 41:14see grow up in this community and it be a safer community for everyone.
- 41:21And again, everyone is faced with these same obstacles and I want to have
- 41:30the compassion and the fair treat everyone with compassion and fairness. You can go
- 41:39to my website. I have a Facebook page Melanie Friends to Elect Melanie Rucker.
- 41:45And also if you get one of my business cards, you just aren't
- 41:52going to throw it in the trash. It's actually seed paper and you can

- 42:04just grows flowers. That's unique. Give us the Facebook page again, it
- 42:08is Friends to Elect Melanie Rucker. And again I would love for someone to
- 42:15reach out to me and I would have a talk with him, just like
- 42:17I'm talking with you. I have a feeling that after today you're gonna probably
- 42:21get some direct message you said to there, and so we wish you the
- 42:24best luck with the campaign. Nice to get to know you and thanks for

- 48:52Last Stand. Nicki Haley did manage to when a primary that may have fallen
- 48:55under the radar in Washington, d C. I'm not even sure that that
- 48:59counts, but we'll see what happens on Super Tuesday, all right. So,
- 49:01this Joe Mansion thing that broke over the weekend, Hoppy talked about it
- 49:06yesterday a little with Danny Jones and was the subject of Hoppy's commentary this morning.
- 49:10So last Friday, Senator Mansion was in a meeting at the Harvard Institute
- 49:15of Politics. Now, it may surprise you to know that your radio pel
- 49:21here Dave has actually done some work in the past with the Harvard Institute of
- 49:23Politics. But I digress anyway, closed door meeting with when these environmental wackos
- 49:32barge in, and that's what I called him. I'm going to borrow that
- 49:36term from Rush Limbaugh in getting all up in Senator Mansion's face about fossil fuels,
- 49:42pipelines, etc. One getting up in Mansion's face saying, quote,
- 49:49you sold our futures and you got rich doing it. You sick effort.
- 49:55Now, to be honest, if you've seen the video and I posted it
- 50:00over the weekend on my social media, not hard to find, Mansion.
- 50:06Senator Manchin was about ready to clock the guy when his aid Jonathan Cott,
- 50:12threw the guy out literally and it was it was hilarious. It was hilarious
- 50:19to me to watch. Of course, now this group Climate Defiance claims that
- 50:24their guy was the victim in all this. Go watch the video. I
- 50:32mean, it's a closed door meeting and these people basically barge in, get
- 50:39up in Joe Manchon's face, call him a sick F word. Mansion jumps
- 50:45up and is restrained, and then Jonathan Cott, who is Mansion's long time
- 50:52made literally picked the guy up and threw him out on his can. And
- 50:58I will say this, I have never been more proud of Joe Manchin in
- 51:05my life than what I was and watching that video, he's lucky that Jonathan
- 51:09Cott got to him because Mojo was about to activate the guy's dental plan if
- 51:15you know what I mean. And this group Climate Defiance is a radical organization.
- 51:22Look him up, read about him. Protests are one thing, but
- 51:25these are the type people who splash paint on artwork in museums and his hoppy
- 51:36I think so well pointed out in his commentary. Do they think that the
- 51:42average American is going to look at the childish crap that they do and say,
- 51:46you know what, They're right? And I'll close with this, I
- 51:52think earth boy there probably need to realize he wasn't confronting a feeble old man
- 51:59like Joe Biden or Donald Trump. I think Manchin could have kicked the guy's
- 52:02ass himself, with or without the aid. And I'll say something I haven't
- 52:08said a long time, but Joe Manchin, go Joe Amen for Senator Manchin
- 52:15says a Texter all right, did not get time to read these texts.
- 52:19I will get to them tomorrow, gotta go. Thank you to Ryan Nicholson
- 52:22and my guests for being on the show today. Coming up tomorrow on the
- 52:24show. Senator Shelby Moore Capital is gonna be on the show tomorrow. Joy
