- 0:24podcast, where the trail or river is our studio and the
- 0:28outdoors is where the story all unfolds.
- 0:30I'm Heather and I'm Emily. And at the heart of it all is 1
- 0:34big question we ask our guests. What is that one pivotal outdoor
- 0:39story that changed the course of your life?
- 0:41From transformative hikes to river epiphanies and everything
- 0:46in between, stories like these remind us how nature shapes who
- 0:49we are. So thanks for being here.
- 0:51Stick around and together we're. Go wildly.
- 0:55Thanks guys. We love you.
- 1:01Today on the Go Wildly podcast, we have Diana Mutula, A clinical
- 1:05herbalist, certified movement coach, and all around earthy
- 1:09powerhouse. She's a Level 3 move Not
- 1:11trainer, restorative exercise specialist and ANASM certified
- 1:17personal trainer who blends natural movement with herbal
- 1:20medicine to help people reconnect with their bodies in
- 1:23the wild world around them. In episode 4, Part 2, we're
- 1:26going deeper. Diana tells us what a day in her
- 1:28life looks like. Cold plunging tea sipping,
- 1:31turning off the and how to stop doom scrolling.
- 1:34Don't forget to watch our YouTube companion film to this
- 1:36episode where we dig deeper with Diana and hike the amazing Bolt
- 1:41Mountain in Southern Oregon. Here we go.
- 1:43Also adding in those like those pieces that you want people to
- 1:46walk away from listening to this being like I learned this from
- 1:51this awesome person today. I the 4th question here is very
- 1:55much kind of, I think, well, I shouldn't, I shouldn't assume,
- 1:58but it says tell me about a place in nature that broke you
- 2:01open and then put you back together again.
- 2:04Would you consider that the? At the same place, Well, it's
- 2:09like the place in nature. I think it is a little
- 2:14different. It is the same place, but when I
- 2:18was there it also happened to be in Santa Fe, NM.
- 2:23I was in new. Mexico.
- 2:24That's when I was like, whoa, yeah, the Southwest is.
- 2:29Everything it's so cool to. Me and I feel like I had a past
- 2:34life in the Southwest in Arizona or New Mexico.
- 2:39And so just the landscape there is like the just the desert
- 2:46landscape. That high desert landscape
- 2:48really speaks to me, feels very spiritual to me.
- 2:52And it's got a lot of roots everywhere.
- 2:55It kind of does. Yeah.
- 2:55Spirituality board where it be like tap.
- 2:57In right. And it, it's a place that
- 2:59inspires me to do natural movement the most, just like
- 3:03with the rocks, the rock formations, the like reddish,
- 3:09you know, reddish dirt and sandy trails.
- 3:15And maybe it is because I had my Move now Level 3 experience
- 3:18there that it is really connected that way.
- 3:20They still have. The pine trees there, which
- 3:22like, I love our local pine trees too.
- 3:25So it feels like it still has elements of home.
- 3:28And there are places in Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon that
- 3:32kind of feel southwesty and high deserty.
- 3:37But when I was there, it was like the volume was turned up
- 3:42like 100. Percent.
- 3:43That's so rare. That's awesome.
- 3:48Did you have some good food while you were there too?
- 3:50So like Santa Fe, like yummy tacos.
- 3:54I love. The cuisine there.
- 3:58Tacos are probably my absolute favorite food.
- 4:00Mine, I think. Mine too.
- 4:02I love me some tacos. The amount of responses on
- 4:06dating apps. So when the quest the like
- 4:09leading question is what's your favorite food?
- 4:1290% of people answer tacos. They're not wrong.
- 4:16You can do so much with the tacos.
- 4:17Yeah, yeah. And they probably say pink
- 4:20tacos. Tacos.
- 4:23I don't even know if I've ever heard of.
- 4:24Vagina. Yeah, terrible you.
- 4:30Guys, I this is one of the things I get.
- 4:34Made for you homeschool. Class No.
- 4:36OK. I was curious because.
- 4:38I just don't have a mind that's in the gutter all the time.
- 4:41We'll leave it to us. We was one of our first group
- 4:45Hangouts. We played this game that was
- 4:47like, I don't even remember what it was called, but we pulled a
- 4:50card and then the person who pulled the card had to figure
- 4:53out who in the group like was that car?
- 4:57And somebody pulled has virgin energy.
- 5:00And we all agreed to Diana, who's like, who at the time was
- 5:06like the one married person in attendance at this.
- 5:10Group. Activity.
- 5:12When I when you said that, I literally thought of the pickled
- 5:17radishes. Yeah.
- 5:18And I was like, interesting. Is that what they call tacos
- 5:24that have pink radishes? It's salmon and pink radishes
- 5:29and pickled red onions. That's a pink Taco.
- 5:32Oh. My gosh, this is getting edited
- 5:34out right? No, it's great, these.
- 5:37Are unedited, undescripted. Shit.
- 5:41This is the good shit. But I think it's really valuable
- 5:44to demonstrate the juxtaposition between people, between people.
- 5:50Even outdoors people where you think they would be little
- 5:53freaks. Or.
- 5:56You think they're super old? To catch on on what people are
- 5:59talking about. I'm also super gullible, so I am
- 6:02too. Yeah.
- 6:02Like it's still like I don't get when people are joking
- 6:05sometimes. I don't either.
- 6:06I have to. I, I've had to teach myself to
- 6:09stay like just assume people are joking all the time and then
- 6:13like, well, it's Sean. Yeah, the specific people that
- 6:17are in my movement class, but it doesn't seem to translate to
- 6:19like other people. Because it takes time to learn
- 6:23that that's how they're. Yeah, that, that's what they're
- 6:26bringing into the setting is like, oh, they live in a state
- 6:30of sarcasm, whereas I live in a state of.
- 6:35Right mind in the gutter. Yeah, dude, Emily's mind's been
- 6:40in the gutter since I've known her 6th grade.
- 6:45Anyway, OK, I got a good. 1. When people speak your name long
- 6:49after you're gone, what do you hope they say about how you
- 6:53moved through the wild in the world?
- 6:58Well, I want people to first and foremost say that I was like
- 7:06encouraging of them and supportive and like inspiring
- 7:13and in general all the things that I think of that come to
- 7:17mind that makes someone a good coach.
- 7:20So like, yeah, I honestly, I really think of myself as like
- 7:27I, I guess the coach archetype that is part cheerleader and
- 7:33part therapist. Love that.
- 7:37And yeah, so I just, I really want to uplift and empower
- 7:42people how that relates to the wild.
- 7:45I guess I just want the land to witness that I'm doing that in
- 7:48my life. Yeah.
- 7:51Cool. Are you planning on or kids?
- 7:54It's kids in your. Future I do want kids, yes.
- 7:57I'm just waiting as long as humanly possible.
- 7:59Good for you. To be able to still have them
- 8:02naturally. Right.
- 8:04Just curious son, because that's like a lot like what I think of
- 8:07when I think of that question. I'm like, OK, what do I want my
- 8:09kids to kind of take away? But then they're going to have a
- 8:11different they're going to have a different perspective than
- 8:15somebody like you guys thinking like it passed, you know me and
- 8:19then but maybe. Do they have to?
- 8:21Like if you're living in your true authentic like aligned self
- 8:26and being, then anybody that you are influencing would feel
- 8:32empowered and connected to nature.
- 8:35I guess I do. The goal is for my kids to feel
- 8:39maybe what a friend or an acquaintance would feel from me.
- 8:44Does that make sense? Yeah, just curious.
- 8:46Same. No, totally.
- 8:47I definitely think that's like when we're talking about the
- 8:50chapters of the book, it's like I'm getting ready for the mom
- 8:57chapter, but I just like the chapter continues.
- 9:01This current chapter is still a little bit longer.
- 9:04It's like you never know how long the chapter is as you're
- 9:06reading it and you flip ahead and it's like, OK, the mom
- 9:11chapters up and coming for sure. And so I think about it a lot
- 9:17for sure. And I think about like when I'm
- 9:22learning about myself and learning about how to be more
- 9:26emotionally intelligent and how to be more emotionally and
- 9:30physically resilient and all that, those are also things that
- 9:34I think about, like how to teach and demonstrate that to kids
- 9:40too. Well, they're your biggest
- 9:41teacher. Let me tell.
- 9:43You that yes. And your biggest student like
- 9:46they are absorbing everything that you say do feel.
- 9:53And if you I feel like they're also like, I don't know, like
- 10:00God creator, like, I don't know what you think, you know, like
- 10:03what your beliefs are, but like, like God gave me like my perfect
- 10:10challenge that I needed to be presented with.
- 10:14I believe that that is how it will go down for sure.
- 10:20I believe I've had to accept that though.
- 10:22I'm like. Cruise is just a little
- 10:23challenging, like I have no idea what to expect.
- 10:27And so I feel like it's, it's not the first thing that I think
- 10:32of when I think of having kids is like, oh, I'm just going to
- 10:36be presented with my perfect challenge.
- 10:39I think more of the experiences and adventures that I want to
- 10:43have in like, creating family memories and how to ideally,
- 10:50like, raise kids that are just like, super resilient and strong
- 10:55and compassionate and yeah, outdoorsy.
- 10:58Oh yeah. Like.
- 10:59Feral. Holy wild, that's my youngest.
- 11:02He is just, well, not feral. But like, just wants to be
- 11:07outside. He's very, yeah, feral in the
- 11:11sense of like through the rewilding perspective.
- 11:13If you think of like humans being domesticated, then what we
- 11:19have because like really our species is domesticated
- 11:22ourselves. And there are still wild humans
- 11:27that exist too. Like they Oh yeah, they are here
- 11:31on planet Earth with us. They haven't.
- 11:33Been eradicated and they're still Indigeneity, right?
- 11:38Indigeneity out there, yeah. And like, there's almost a
- 11:44subspecies now that we have of like domesticated humans
- 11:49actually. And so then what's the antidote
- 11:53to that? It's like, you can can try to
- 11:56rewild like just being like a feral human is, I think actually
- 12:02a really great description of like, if you think of cats and
- 12:04you think of a feral cat, like cat that has learned how to
- 12:08survive by taking care of itself instead of like needing an owner
- 12:12to like provide everything for it.
- 12:16And so I like that idea too, to be able to inviting everything.
- 12:21Yeah. Like, that's ultimately why my
- 12:23husband and I live out in the country, have a homestead, have
- 12:29cows and so grow their own food and all that.
- 12:33But I have, I also appreciate like, getting to work in town
- 12:38and getting to be connected to community more and like the
- 12:43feeling of having a village. But I like living in a but a
- 12:47town that's not huge. I wouldn't.
- 12:49I would never be a city person. What's I'm kind of just, we're
- 12:53leaning into lifestyle. What's your like daily routine
- 12:57look like? I'm so fascinated by that all
- 12:59the time. And that's not on my list.
- 13:01But when I listen to podcasts, I want to know about it.
- 13:04Yeah, let's talk about it. A.
- 13:05Day in the Life of Diana. It looks a little different in
- 13:08the summer versus the winter. So yeah, I can tell you about
- 13:11what I've been doing recently. Like in the winter time, I've
- 13:14been really having some ultimate self-care mornings, which I feel
- 13:17really grateful for. So like I don't have an
- 13:20elaborate morning routine, but I do take my time because I can,
- 13:25because I don't start work until the afternoon at the gym.
- 13:28So when I wake up, I very first thing is I try to go get natural
- 13:35light, natural sunlight ideally, but sun, sun always out in the
- 13:38winter. So, and then grounding, which
- 13:41is, it's honestly, it's just the easiest thing.
- 13:44You just go outside with no shoes on.
- 13:45That's all you have to do in order to get your natural light
- 13:48and grounding. And I do it on my way to my cold
- 13:52plunge, which I check the temperature of first thing in
- 13:56the morning. And then I'll also, like, do a
- 13:59little walk next to my cold plunge onto, like, the actual
- 14:03grass, because my cold plunge is on some concrete.
- 14:07And I just want to, like, feel the actual earth.
- 14:10Yeah. Underground grounding.
- 14:12Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:13And then I make tea, come inside and make tea and start a fire in
- 14:20my wood stove. Do you have like a little ritual
- 14:22around tea at all? Not really.
- 14:25I mean other than just like, I just like the same.
- 14:30Type of tea, If you are you blending tea or are you do you
- 14:34just get sometimes? I do so.
- 14:36I used to be very strictly hardcore loose tea, only make my
- 14:41own blends. Yeah.
- 14:43And I have like Mason jars full of every type of.
- 14:46I saw when I came to your house. Yeah.
- 14:49Which I've never been to your house with you.
- 14:52Right, you've been to my house. And I was like, oh, these herbs.
- 14:55Yeah, and I also have some go to tea bags from Yogi Tea that are
- 15:03really easy to make. So more recently I've, yeah,
- 15:07done both. And then I just, I make the tea
- 15:10and I put the mug full of tea on top of the wood stove so it
- 15:14stays warm while I go do my cold plunge.
- 15:17And then I, I do my cold plunge, which I try to stay in there for
- 15:21about 3 minutes. Sometimes it's a little more,
- 15:24sometimes it's a little less. And then I come dry off and go
- 15:29sit in front of the wood stove and drink my tea and read the
- 15:33book either on my Kindle or like a hardcover and wait until my
- 15:39body feels warm again. So that usually takes almost 1/2
- 15:43an hour. See How many pages do you
- 15:44usually get through? I know right?
- 15:46I don't know at least a few chapters.
- 15:48I don't know how many pages, but like, I do read a lot.
- 15:51I love fantasy, I love romanticy and I love any like strong
- 15:58female lead, especially that has superpowers and especially that
- 16:02becomes a warrior of some kind or is like an assassin type
- 16:06person. And then after that, once I'm
- 16:09finally warm. Oh, another thing that I've been
- 16:13doing recently is I will have started turned on my sonics.
- 16:15I have a just a one person infrared sauna at my house,
- 16:20which was like one of the best investments that I ever made a
- 16:24long time ago. And so I'll have hopefully had
- 16:28that ready so that I can get into it once I'm naturally warm
- 16:32because I'm trying not to use any external heat sources other
- 16:36than, yeah, I'm sitting in front.
- 16:37That's what I've heard too with the cold plunge.
- 16:39I've been making sure since I'm on back on my cold plunge game
- 16:42to like make sure I'm heating up naturally right.
- 16:44So one day I did do my Peloton after to help rewarm my body
- 16:48body right but or I just am doing stuff.
- 16:52One day I did get in the shower and I'm like like I'm using the
- 16:55shower but I had to shower to get ready to go.
- 16:57Sometimes you can't do it perfectly right.
- 17:00So I'll get in this on after. I do just want to say that like
- 17:04for people that are interested in starting out cold plunging,
- 17:08it's also really helpful to progress gradually.
- 17:12Like so I like the way that what the way that I did it was I
- 17:18probably started three years ago and I would go in the shower
- 17:23first. So I'd take my hot shower and
- 17:25then I'd go in my cold plunge afterwards.
- 17:27Does that make it less cold? Yeah, 'cause your body's warmer,
- 17:31your body temperature is warmer coming out of a hot shower.
- 17:35That's what I thought. So it's not going to feel as
- 17:36cold, you're not going to get as cold.
- 17:39It makes it I could remember easier though to get started.
- 17:43Yeah, As a kid, we had a hot tub and a pool, and I used to go
- 17:46back and forth, you know, and I couldn't remember which one was
- 17:50which of like, which one feels colder, which one feels, you
- 17:53know, like which way you go or whatever.
- 17:56Hot to cold. Yeah.
- 17:57And I was thinking that in my mind when I was setting up the,
- 18:02IT just brought it up and yeah, yeah.
- 18:04Well, I think going back and forth ultimately is just good
- 18:06for people, right? But.
- 18:08Like the Scandinavian right type of way or whatever.
- 18:12I. Norwegian or.
- 18:14What All I know, yeah, I don't know about that as much.
- 18:17All I know is if you want to improve your cold tolerance,
- 18:22right? If you are someone who has very
- 18:25little cold tolerance at first, go ahead and let yourself take a
- 18:31hot shower beforehand so that when you get in your cold
- 18:34plunge, you it's doable. Like the best they say the best
- 18:38workout is one that you do. The best cold plunge is also the
- 18:40one that you do. So if you have to go in your hot
- 18:42shower 1st and then get in your cold plunge and only stay in for
- 18:45a minute if you want to set a realistic expectation.
- 18:50So I did that. And then I had luckily kind of a
- 18:53mentor, my friend who was just someone I saw on Instagram that
- 18:58I decided like because I saw him doing it as like inspired and
- 19:01wanted to do it as well. Started posting about it.
- 19:04And so after a few months, he messaged me and was like, great,
- 19:09now go in before your hot shower instead of after.
- 19:13And I was like, oh, shoot, OK, fine.
- 19:17Yeah. So I had that encouragement.
- 19:19That's great. Switch the order.
- 19:21Yeah, somebody to kind of guide you a little bit.
- 19:24Yeah, I am one of my first randomly on this topic, like my
- 19:30first viral, well more viral picked up I guess from TikTok
- 19:35videos is my one of my cold plunge videos from a couple
- 19:38years ago. But I was cold plunging in the
- 19:41winter that I started in December in Applegate and it was
- 19:45so well, no, I originally started in the Illinois.
- 19:49I drove out there one day on a snowy funky day and I was like,
- 19:53I'm all get in this beach and I was like cold plunging and then
- 19:58I then this is closer. I'm not going to drive out to
- 20:01Illinois every day. I didn't have a tank or
- 20:02anything. And this is kind of before it
- 20:05became, I mean it really in the last couple years became real
- 20:08popular and trendy, but. Probably due to TikTok and
- 20:12stuff. And Joe Rogan does a lot of the
- 20:14plunging and he talks about it a ton on his pod.
- 20:17But yeah, getting in the Applegate when I first got in my
- 20:21cold plunge just three few days ago, for the first time in a
- 20:26long time, the one that Emily has let me borrow until I set up
- 20:30my that was my cold, My cold. I'm going to do one of those DIY
- 20:36chest freezers. Yeah.
- 20:37Since I'm a hot water girl. Hot water I was like this is so
- 20:42doable. The river in December.
- 20:45I it's fucking like I I brought a temp one time and it was like
- 20:494240. Well, you'll get those temps
- 20:53here as well, but I think that what the river has is movement
- 20:59of the water and current. And like all the complexities
- 21:04that you get of nature, the texture, the having to like walk
- 21:08out and then slowly lower down and find a little spot.
- 21:11And yeah, so. Versus just like Stillwater that
- 21:16I can just immediately submerge into and there is no like, Oh
- 21:22yeah, let me get my feet wet and then I'm up to my knees and oh,
- 21:26it's actually in order for it to be deep enough for me to fully
- 21:29submerge, I have to get into the middle of the river.
- 21:31So I guess I'll just sit down right here in this moving water
- 21:35and hold on really tight to a rock.
- 21:38Yeah. Yeah, OK, so after you're
- 21:40rounding back after you sauna sesh.
- 21:43OK, so after I do want to talk about cold plunging more.
- 21:46We will, we will. We have all the rest of the time
- 21:49down too. OK, OK, OK.
- 21:51After my well, so in the sauna I journal or listen to a guided
- 21:58meditation visualization thing. So I do this program called to
- 22:04be magnetic. It's like a personal growth.
- 22:07I know her practice. And she has a pod.
- 22:09She has a pod podcast called Expanded, which is amazing, but
- 22:13I also do the program and so there's journal prompts and then
- 22:17I did audio tracks that you listen.
- 22:19To do you have an app or something with that?
- 22:21It's an app it's amazing. It's been that's probably been
- 22:24the most powerful life changing personal growth practice that
- 22:27I've ever done because that program.
- 22:29Oh, absolutely, 100%. I cannot recommend it enough.
- 22:32It covers every facet of life. There's courses for love and
- 22:38relationship, there's courses for career and money.
- 22:41There's some for like everybody is supposed to do the inner
- 22:47child one, everyone is supposed to do the shadow one, and then
- 22:52there's like challenges that they'll do seasonally and it's
- 22:58incredible. She got me signed up on it.
- 23:01That's cool. Yeah, I love that.
- 23:02So I'll do those and then I get out and take a shower, eat
- 23:07brunch. What do you eat at that point?
- 23:10What's your go to breakfast? Recently I've been doing so I'm
- 23:12gluten free, so I do a gluten free toast.
- 23:15It's just like a brown rice bread by Organic Coast Local and
- 23:22egg and avocado and goat cheese sandwich.
- 23:25How many eggs are you doing? Oh, so I'll do two eggs when
- 23:29it's in the sandwich and half an avocado and a scoop of goat
- 23:33cheese and two slices of bread and then some salt and paprika.
- 23:36But I sometimes also do eggs on my on their own.
- 23:40And when I have eggs on their own, I do four eggs.
- 23:44And I recommend eggs for breakfast in the morning.
- 23:48One of the best breakfasts that you can have if people can
- 23:51tolerate eggs. Thank you for that.
- 23:53And because there's tolerate eggs, yeah, there's such a great
- 23:57source of protein. And I think that you actually
- 24:00want. Yes, protein all the way in the
- 24:03morning helps regulate blood sugar for the rest of the day
- 24:06and goes torture protein goals for muscle building muscle
- 24:09today. I was going to enter minute
- 24:11fast. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:13I mean, that's another strategy too.
- 24:15Just felt right today, yeah. Do I feel great into your body?
- 24:18Yep I tried that and I've realized that like I'm best if I
- 24:23eat breakfast as early as I can get myself to, which is not
- 24:27super early like 10 or 11 AM is when I'm eating that's still.
- 24:32That's still. A fast.
- 24:33Yeah, you know you're not eating it 9 or 8.
- 24:36Do you have you looked into or do you do anything around your
- 24:40cycles, player cycle? Do you like for?
- 24:43Food. Food and exercise and all that
- 24:46stuff. For exercise, not for food so
- 24:49much. Although I do know that like in
- 24:51general throughout the month, if I eat more organ meat I will
- 24:55have less painful periods. So if I.
- 25:01I'm glad that you said that because I've been eating the
- 25:04encapsulated, like liver from that, you know, good company or
- 25:08whatever you'd have to take for and they're disgusting.
- 25:10But I don't have any cramps today.
- 25:13Yeah, the first day of my. Period.
- 25:14The more that the more meat that I eat and the more organ meat
- 25:17specifically because we have the liver from our cows that we've
- 25:20harvested. Awesome.
- 25:21Or I will also just buy like chicken hearts from like
- 25:26becoming these little tubs from I think it's like Mary's organic
- 25:30chickens or something or chicken livers.
- 25:33But I like. Grass fed beef, the best for
- 25:36organ meat and it's a pretty liver every single day, yeah,
- 25:41just like a little piece of liver that's I've had really
- 25:45good results with that. I just have to make sure that I
- 25:47keep up on it. Yeah, right.
- 25:49It's all about the consistency is key.
- 25:51Yeah. Communication and consistency.
- 25:53Baby light. Yeah.
- 25:55And then for movement, I just follow my energy levels, which
- 26:00definitely like plummet 2 days before my period.
- 26:04I know that my period's coming because I have no energy and I
- 26:08just roll with it. And those are yeah.
- 26:12And emotional, that'll happen when I'm like actually on my
- 26:15period, but a couple days before I know that I just need to like
- 26:20set realistic again, set realistic expectations for
- 26:23myself because the worst is feeling like you should be doing
- 26:25more than you feel actually up for.
- 26:28And so those are just restorative days like walking,
- 26:34stretching, mobility, maybe a little bit of hanging, a little
- 26:37bit of balancing. But and I'll participate to a
- 26:40certain extent in move that class.
- 26:42If we're doing a workout, I'll demonstrate, but I'm not going
- 26:45to push it. I'm gonna probably do a little
- 26:47later. That might be my like deload
- 26:50week. Are you guys synced up at all?
- 26:53I don't. Know I love the phenomenon on
- 26:55time ago. Yeah, yeah, you were.
- 26:58I was on day one when you said you were having cramps.
- 27:02I don't know what day you were on, but.
- 27:04If it was having cramps, it's probably day one or two, yeah.
- 27:07So I'm on day one right now. Those we got synced up on the
- 27:13pattern app yesterday, but we should also sync up on the
- 27:17period tracking app. I use Stardust.
- 27:19OK, I'm looking for a better period.
- 27:22Tracking app. I really like Stardust.
- 27:25It gives like daily, almost daily, like insight updates of
- 27:31like how you might be feeling today, like based on where
- 27:34you're at in your cycle, it'll be like you are super energized
- 27:38today. You can take on the world and
- 27:41it's like, Oh yeah, you're right, actually.
- 27:43I am feeling those by yeah. Or like, time to get ready to be
- 27:47a couch potato. And there's nothing wrong with
- 27:49that. It's very like affirming and
- 27:52assuring of where I'm at and how I'm feeling.
- 27:55And sometimes I'm like, I think you're off because doing
- 27:59something else. Yeah.
- 28:01But certainly there are other influences into energy than just
- 28:07the menstrual cycle. But it's very insightful and you
- 28:11can sync up with other people so you can see.
- 28:13Where the person? Is at on their cycle, yeah.
- 28:17Diana, what are you doing after your breakfast?
- 28:21Oh, then I finally showered. Well I have probably showered
- 28:25and then eat my breakfast so. Then I that was a love tongue.
- 28:29Sorry, love. Tongue give me a love tongue I
- 28:30think my. Phone.
- 28:31Then if I have a little bit of time between then and when I
- 28:34have to go to work, I'll just do some chores, get ahead on emails
- 28:39with clients, texts with clients.
- 28:41There's constant scheduling for personal training or, you know,
- 28:46basic domestic household chores, firewood, laundry, dishes.
- 28:51And then I drive to work and then I have personal training
- 28:54from about 1:00 PM to 6:30 to 7:00 PM.
- 29:00Each day are you getting 8 hours of sleep, 9 hours a?
- 29:03100% so then I when I got. The Big Sleep Yeah group.
- 29:08When I get home, I'm trying to eat dinner as soon as I can.
- 29:11When I get home because I try to get I'm trying to eat before
- 29:138:00 PM, yes, which is life changing.
- 29:16I'm discovering the life changing magic of eating dinner
- 29:18before 8:00 PM. And so then I am winding down
- 29:25and I do another good chunk of reading to D to like unwind
- 29:30before bed. At least 1/2 an hour of reading.
- 29:34And all red lights in the evening too at my house.
- 29:37Also all incandescent lights at my house.
- 29:40Most similar to sunlight and like the natural light spectrum
- 29:47versus LE, DS and definitely no fluorescent lights.
- 29:51And your house generally has very dim lighting also, like not
- 29:55just incandescent and red, but you don't have a lot of right
- 29:59overhead lighting. Everything is very like task
- 30:02lighting, dim lighting. It's very conducive for chill
- 30:07evening wine down time. It's not like lit up party
- 30:12house, it's like you use the natural light for doing those
- 30:18things where you need to see things in your house and once
- 30:21the sun is gone it's like very camp campsite vibes but inside.
- 30:27It's 100. Percent very.
- 30:29So do you when do you allow time or do you for, for scrolling,
- 30:36for scrolling, when do you find yourself?
- 30:37That's when you scroll. And so when you give yourself
- 30:40boundaries. Sometimes I do give myself
- 30:42boundaries. I was doing really good about
- 30:46it. In the morning is when I'm not
- 30:49as good sometimes, but so it gets cut off at 11:00 PM.
- 30:54So I will maybe scroll from like after dinner to when I am
- 31:03getting ready to go to bed. Those not the whole time, but
- 31:05like that time might I might scroll, but I do turn my
- 31:11Internet off at 11:00 PM and that really really helps.
- 31:14My Internet is off yes. Not a big thing.
- 31:16Do I stop using my Instagram app?
- 31:19I also turn my Internet off and I also turn my phone on airplane
- 31:23mode and I also turn my phone to red lighting.
- 31:27Cool. So.
- 31:30You cannot reach me between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
- 31:34And you like? Wake up.
- 31:35Yeah. Yes.
- 31:37So, so service, do you rely on Wi-Fi or do you have service out
- 31:41there a little bit of? Service on your phone.
- 31:42I have a little bit of service, but I mostly do rely on Wi-Fi.
- 31:46But even if I had my and if I had full service, my phone is
- 31:50still on an airplane match. Can reach me in the moment.
- 31:53Do you physically you need me? Turn.
- 31:55Off and my phones in my living room too, not in my bedroom.
- 31:58Do you have to turn off your router?
- 31:59Do you physically turn it off or is there a time?
- 32:01So I had so timers are a great solution.
- 32:05Also, there are timers I've never even heard.
- 32:07Yeah, there are timers. A lot of people use them.
- 32:09The other good. Solution is like you can.
- 32:11Get like outlet. To ours or you can get an outlet
- 32:13that has a switch that we used to have this really cool little
- 32:18remote that you could just click cool that we would leave on the
- 32:21counter top and you just point it at the router.
- 32:24But now we have a kind of a complicated setup with different
- 32:29parts of our property where we're sending our Wi-Fi to to
- 32:32our tenants. And so I do go just to the
- 32:35router, but it's pretty easy. There's a button that's easy to
- 32:38just, like, tap and it turns it off.
- 32:41And then I'm just in the habit of doing it.
- 32:42Yeah, my husband turns it on in the morning when he gets up a
- 32:45little earlier than me. And.
- 32:47Yeah. What time are you getting up in?
- 32:48The morning I get up at 8:00, I get up at 8:00 and I'm not an
- 32:51early riser, so I get 9 hours of sleep very consistently.
- 32:58Yeah, if I go to bed at 11:30, I'll wake up at 8:30.
- 33:02That's awesome. If I go to bed, are you a good?
- 33:04Sleeper or do you toss and turn? Do you take any?
- 33:06Supplements, unless there's noise or someone else moving
- 33:11near me. So if I was by myself, I would
- 33:14sleep like a log. I'd sleep like this.
- 33:16I sit on my back, face up. Nothing moves around me all
- 33:20night long. Yeah, sometimes maybe one side
- 33:22or the other, but then you. Take any supplements for sleep.
- 33:27I do bedtime tea before bed every.
- 33:30Magnesium or anything? No, not so much.
- 33:34Sometimes we'll take some vitamins, which would include
- 33:38stuff like magnesium or, I don't know, whatever vitamins we're
- 33:42taking B vitamins, vitamin D3, but like, they're not
- 33:46specifically for sleep. The only thing that I'm doing
- 33:49for sleep is bedtime tea. Do you take ashwagandha at all?
- 33:53Ashwagandha sometimes could make it into the tea blend or could
- 33:57take it as a tincture, but it's not like a daily thing.
- 34:01But definitely in the tea blend is like skullcap, skullcap.
- 34:04I've heard skullcap sometimes chamomile.
- 34:08Tulsi is a favorite for bedtime. Any nervous system tea or
- 34:12nervine for bed. But it's also more just like a.
- 34:19Soothing like ritual. Do you drink more tea than you
- 34:22do like water in your water bottle or you just like tea
- 34:25Because I just noticed you would this.
- 34:27I haven't gotten, yeah, I haven't gone into my water
- 34:30bottle yet on this hike, but I I had water this morning.
- 34:35I drink a lot of water when I'm at work, but I also do Britney
- 34:39formers of tea. Yeah.
- 34:40I like to do a cold. I do like a tea cold brew loose
- 34:44tea, like just when I'm there's usually hibiscus in it and they
- 34:47have like some strawberry cool anyway, and I'm usually totally
- 34:51have like and I'd much prefer to drink that than water right,
- 34:55like a little bit of a. Bite.
- 34:57I like ice water. I have like a Yeti water I don't
- 35:00know has a straw and I bring that to work with ice in it.
- 35:04So if it has ice in it, I will drink a lot of water.
- 35:07Just but I'm a 2. Drink at a time person for sure.
- 35:10Like I want my tea and I want my water.
- 35:12Sometimes I'll even have a cup of juice or milk as well.
- 35:17Or a smoothie. Or a smoothie.
- 35:18That'll be a fourth one too. Yeah, I'm a beverage.
- 35:21Person I like water if you want to have a plain water.
- 35:25Give me a gift plain. Room temperature water, that is
- 35:29my beverage of choice. So healthy of you.
- 35:32Anytime. Yeah.
- 35:33Yeah, that's all I need. Your body.
- 35:35Doesn't have to warm it up or get a.
- 35:36Kombucha. You know, love me a kombucha.
- 35:41I just re upped on my kimchi from I like that big jug from
- 35:44Costco. I love that kimchi.
- 35:46It's not organic. That's the only like, kind of
- 35:49wish it was a little bit more organic, but I love my fermented
- 35:53foods. So good, yeah.
- 35:55I just got into fermented foods in my.
- 35:57How's that doing? How are?
- 35:59I so I was on a really restricted diet for several
- 36:03years and in the last like since September, since August or
- 36:08September, I've been reintegrating every food and
- 36:14I've gained weight, I've gotten taller and taller, I've grown
- 36:19over an inch, and I believe in a combination of spine
- 36:25decompression from hanging and some chiropractic work.
- 36:30Over the like. Last year and the year before,
- 36:33but mostly from hanging and restorative exercises that have
- 36:38like, wow, as I've been decompressing my spine, I'm
- 36:42strengthening all the muscles that are supporting my spine.
- 36:44So they're staying up so. They're staying up and I've.
- 36:48You're like a little muscle least.
- 36:49Hundreds of pounds of emotional labor.
- 36:52And those shoulders are lighter. My whole body feels lighter and
- 36:57stronger even though I've gained 20 lbs in the last.
- 37:02Like for two years. Three years when my dad was
- 37:06sick, I was 115 lbs and that's what I was for years prior and
- 37:12couldn't get above that. Which is really light for five
- 37:15being 55. Yeah, I was 5, four and a
- 37:18quarter, 115 lbs. And now I'm 56 and 135 lbs and
- 37:27I'm stronger, I'm healthier. Like my bowels are happier, my
- 37:34whole body feels better, my brain feels better.
- 37:37I'm still working on my sleep trauma healing.
- 37:42But like that's overall my body and mind are doing so much
- 37:48better. And it it feels so good to say,
- 37:53yeah, I can eat that. Other than eggs, which I can't
- 37:57tolerate, and almonds, which I can't tolerate, I am open to
- 38:00eating anything. That's amazing.
- 38:03Where it used to be like Nope Nope Nope, can't have that, not
- 38:07eating that, not interested in that, scared of that.
- 38:09I had a lot of fear around how the food that I was going to eat
- 38:13was going to affect me. I ate fucking 3 slices of pizza
- 38:16yesterday with bacon on it and cheese and French fries and
- 38:22avocado. Love putting avocado on pizza.
- 38:24If you do not put avocado on your pizza, put fucking avocado
- 38:27on your pizza. I'll.
- 38:29Have. To try that, it elevates so
- 38:32well. Balsamic.
- 38:34Bosomic I had the. Hot.
- 38:37Catalyst OG. Oh my God, I'm going free.
- 38:42Yeah. It's like.
- 38:44It is so freeing to just say, yeah, whatever you make, as long
- 38:47as there aren't eggs and almonds in it, you're good.
- 38:50I'm going to try it. Just a couple two things.
- 38:53That's very reasonable. Where it used to be like,
- 38:56actually it's easier to tell you what I can eat because it's a
- 39:01shorter list than what I'm not eating.
- 39:04Yeah. And now it's Nope, not eating
- 39:07two things. Anything else?
- 39:09I mean, I don't. I'm still working on my
- 39:11relationship with meat. You know what time it is?
- 39:15A battery break while we swap out the gear.
- 39:18Here's a little shout out to Move Nat, a natural movement
- 39:22program with classes and workshops all over the country.
- 39:25Crawl, climb, jump, balance, move like a human again, primal
- 39:30human. See if there's a class near you
- 39:33at movenat.com that is MOV nat.com.
- 39:38Link is in the show notes. Now back to the pod baby.
- 39:43Should I finish? My meat thought random thought.
- 39:45You can't if you want to. Was that your meat?
- 39:48Thought my meat thought is just that right now I like meat as an
- 39:51ingredient, not as a main dish. That's my last.
- 39:56That's my final thought on meat. Are you eating all types of meat
- 39:59now? Yes, not frequently, it's
- 40:03primarily still chicken, but like yesterday I had bacon on
- 40:06the pizza and. Did Asia make the pizza?
- 40:09No, we got it from Catalyst. Cool.
- 40:12I mean, I eat a lot of fish and chicken, and I've been eating
- 40:15beef jerky almost daily. But other beef and pork items
- 40:22are slowly. Like, I'm not necessarily
- 40:26choosing them, but if they're there, I'm not rejecting them
- 40:29like I used to, right? I mean, I do think that meat is
- 40:35one of those things that like the quality matters quite a bit.
- 40:41So I kind of like as a person who does advocate for people
- 40:47getting as much protein as possible and including meat in
- 40:50their diets. I also feel very strongly that
- 40:52like meat can also be really a source of a lot of like toxins
- 40:58too in your diet if you're eating meat with a bunch of
- 41:01antibiotics in it that was grain fed and has a shitty fat profile
- 41:08because of it. And grew up in a confined animal
- 41:10feeding operation and is like embedded in trauma.
- 41:14Right. Yeah.
- 41:16So like, I hate to be that person.
- 41:18That's just like pasteurized grass fed organic, but like,
- 41:22yeah, but it's true. Yeah, I can.
- 41:24I, I don't. I used to buy all organic meat,
- 41:27but since I've been on a budget, falling on a budget, I just go
- 41:31to Costco and I know they're meat, even though it's not
- 41:33organic, it is a little bit better than like a Winco.
- 41:37Yeah. And like so it's like that
- 41:41caliber of. I mean, the best deal that
- 41:46you'll ever get on me, I think is buying a whole animal, buy
- 41:50half a cow quarter. We if you have the space to
- 41:53store it. Yeah. 1/4 of a Dexter will take
- 41:57up that's a smaller breed of cow, which we have a lot of in
- 42:00the Applegate Valley will take up not the whole part of your
- 42:05freezer of just the freezer attached to your fridge.
- 42:08So you don't even necessarily need a chest freezer, but it
- 42:11helps to have chest freezer and. My thing is right now I've been
- 42:15relying on government to help me with my food currently.
- 42:19So. Like, which is insane because we
- 42:22are a business owners that the business looks good on paper,
- 42:26but we're not taking home so right.
- 42:29I mean, I just, you know, it's one of those things and like, it
- 42:32was such a relief to get the help.
- 42:35Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 42:35You know, and of course as soon as I start making money, it'll
- 42:38you know, like I'm not planning on abusing the system at all.
- 42:41I'm legitimately is helping us right now and I'm using.
- 42:46It survive. Yeah, like I can feed my kids
- 42:48without us, you know, being like, oh.
- 42:52We have McDonald's every day. And that's the one thing that
- 42:55has drained my food bill, is the one thing that has drained my
- 42:58savings. Yeah.
- 43:00Like 1200 bucks a month. And food.
- 43:05I know I had to Goodbye. Goodbye, Goodbye I.
- 43:07Had to do a big food budget like overhaul a couple years ago
- 43:13because I was just going to gooseberries for everything and
- 43:16that's expensive. And then when I switched to Fred
- 43:18Meyer, Now I'm playing the Fred Meyer game of getting a discount
- 43:21on gas as well. Get those digital coupons.
- 43:25Plus only buy things when they're on sale and get like I
- 43:28buy 10 sticks of butter at a time when Kerry Gold goes on
- 43:32sale and that's when I get butter.
- 43:36That's a great. Way to buy, you can breathe.
- 43:38A great way to buy. I I buy a little differently
- 43:41than that, but that's a great way to buy.
- 43:43Yeah, OK. My random thought that I wanted
- 43:46to finish was just that with the scrolling question.
- 43:49Yeah, in the mornings. I also have a cut off of 11 AM
- 43:56ideally. So my ideal phone usage
- 44:01structure is cut off at 11:00 PM and don't use until 11 AM.
- 44:08That's for social media. But I also like I do just turn
- 44:11my Internet off at 11 AM and it's sorry, 11:00 PM, but it's
- 44:17then my husband turns it on when he gets up.
- 44:19But I won't check social media until ideally 11 AM.
- 44:24And then I have about an hour between that and when I leave
- 44:26for work. And what I notice is when I'm
- 44:29sticking to that, I won't get stuck because I'm already up and
- 44:33moving and and doing all the other things and I have momentum
- 44:36with everything else. So that even if I do check it,
- 44:39it's more like done in a business like professional way.
- 44:44Yeah, where I'm and you're getting stuff done at that time
- 44:46too. But if I go on it earlier, which
- 44:49the reason that that happens is when I want to post my daily
- 44:53cold plunge photo right away instead of just waiting a couple
- 44:57hours and then then you can get stuck on it.
- 45:00And when I'm just sitting in front of my wood stove, that
- 45:03should be my time to be reading my book.
- 45:06But instead I spend 30 minutes scrolling and then it's like
- 45:12it's so easy to get sucked into. It is, it is.
- 45:14That's why I asked, because it's such a big hot topic, especially
- 45:19now that we're all becoming awake to like, Oh my God, we are
- 45:22fucking addicted, you know, and I've been having to adjust and
- 45:25readjust address my boundaries. That's why I asked.
- 45:27I'm like, do you you know, and I'm trying it's.
- 45:30Also hard when you use social media in.
- 45:32Business professionally. And where like you need to post
- 45:36professionally but you also need to consume professionally and
- 45:40see what are other people posting like trends, interact
- 45:43with people so that your account stays active and relevant.
- 45:47In the algorithm, yeah, it's such a battle.
- 45:49Yeah, One thing that I have noticed has helped is again,
- 45:54like I also, I'm saying this out loud so that I will continue to
- 46:00try to do this, is to take your phone into like an office
- 46:06setting and be like, OK, I'm sitting at my desk while I'm on
- 46:09Instagram. So I'm in work Instagram mode,
- 46:13not just like passive consumption mode.
- 46:16Yeah, I try to do my like kind of rule of thumb is like
- 46:24producing more than I consume. Yeah, so creating, really
- 46:28creating more than I consume. So when I catch myself scrolling
- 46:32right, I'll be like, and I'll be like work on my video.
- 46:35And I have a couple videos I've been working to pump out and
- 46:38it's like, OK. And then I've heard.
- 46:41Many people say that I also love.
- 46:43I heard this one on a Joe Rogan podcast post and ghost.
- 46:47Yeah, he'd post and ghost. Yeah, and I so that's great for
- 46:51Joe because he's already such a big, big following.
- 46:54Yeah, but we can't do that. We have to like, stick around
- 46:57and engage and comment and. I do think that host and ghost
- 47:02in the sense of like posted and then don't check it again for
- 47:05like 6 hours. And that's, dude, do that right?
- 47:08And then, you know, comment back and then all the things anyway,
- 47:11sort of. Posting and then looking at it
- 47:13to see all the likes come in in real time or comments or
- 47:18whatever. And I've been trying to cut mine
- 47:21off when we get home from when I pick up Bubba, from when I pick
- 47:25up my littlest. That's kind of like which is
- 47:28hard. And then I just like literally
- 47:30don't, I'm trying not to get on it the rest of the evening.
- 47:34So I'm really trying to utilize my phone time in my work block
- 47:39of time because I'm working, you know, that's kind of where I'm
- 47:42at with stuff. And then also designating
- 47:46certain days where I am doing more on the phone because I'm
- 47:52really, I'm in school right now. So it's like, I'm really trying
- 47:54to like utilize my time that I have for school.
- 47:58And if I'm pulled away to, to scroll a bit, I get sucked.
- 48:02And and then my, my ADHD is just like, oh, this marketing thing I
- 48:06need to think about make make a note.
- 48:09Yeah, yeah. One other tip.
- 48:10That I have. That has been helpful.
- 48:12It it hasn't been the biggest moving mover of the needle, but
- 48:18it has made a difference. Is this app that I got called
- 48:22one SEC and you just install it with like your accessibility
- 48:27features or something in your phone.
- 48:29And basically it makes it so that when you open Instagram, it
- 48:33immediately instead opens that other app and it makes you take
- 48:36one full breath in and one full breath out before you open
- 48:40Instagram. And so now every time I open my
- 48:43app, it gives you and it gives you a big button that says I
- 48:47don't want to open Instagram or you have to click the little
- 48:51text below that says like, go ahead and open the app.
- 48:55I will just. But it's still you still have to
- 48:58wait for it no matter what. You can't just go past.
- 49:01It well, sometimes I'm like, oh, I'm I'm like picking this up and
- 49:04getting into social media out of like habit.
- 49:07I'm like almost like habitual like this is what I do.
- 49:10I'm just like, blah, blah, blah, your finger.
- 49:12Then I'm like. Into the app.
- 49:13Yeah, yes. And then I'm like, oh wait, I'm
- 49:15working on something and I'll just turn it off immediately and
- 49:18go into my cap cut to work on my videos.
- 49:20But or because I also do social media management for a few
- 49:24brands, so it's just like, or I'm like, Oh yeah, I got to post
- 49:27for them real quick and I haven't been, you know,
- 49:29whatever. So I have to do this shit like
- 49:31that anyway. But yeah, I know it's such a
- 49:34double edged sword, especially when you need to market yourself
- 49:37and everybody needs needs to or should or whatever it like
- 49:42literally it's such a necessity to marketing unless you don't
- 49:48have any desire to do anything other than like.
- 49:52Yeah, very local. Stuff, yeah, like you weren't,
- 49:55you're a nurse or and you don't want to do anything else.
- 49:58And that's just like what you do.
- 50:00And you don't want, you don't want to advance in any sort of
- 50:03way. You just like want to put your
- 50:04head down and work and you don't have any dreams of being noticed
- 50:07or being, you know, like building a subsequent brand of
- 50:13lifestyle or. Because there are absolutely
- 50:15people who are successful and happy and fulfilled that don't
- 50:18have any social media presence whatsoever.
- 50:21And they grow and they progress and they get promotions.
- 50:25And like, there are worlds that exist very healthfully outside
- 50:31of social media, but then there are others that absolutely
- 50:35require you. Could be a plumber or an
- 50:37electrician who make like pretty decent money.
- 50:40Or a house cleaner. But a house cleaner.
- 50:42I don't need social media to get more clients, get more money
- 50:47unless I wanted to lean into that where I'm getting sponsored
- 50:52by cleaning products or. You could build an.
- 50:56Empire yeah, which like that's not me.
- 50:58I want to work alone autonomously.
- 51:00I don't want to manage people. I don't want to have other
- 51:02people on my team. I don't need sponsorships by
- 51:06products like I use. I use one, I could feel it.
- 51:10I use basically one product and there's no way that they would
- 51:13ever sponsor me to be promoting their.
- 51:17Sponsored by white vinegar. Yeah, like.
- 51:21Rubbing alcohol, white vinegar and thief thieves like I highly
- 51:24doubt Young Living is gonna be like hey true would you promote
- 51:29our products to not their. Pyramid scheme, yeah.
- 51:32Like they don't need, they don't need me to do.
- 51:34That our multi level marketing. I'm so sorry.
- 51:36I I love, I love Young Living thieves product for cleaning.
- 51:40I use it on absolutely everything.
- 51:42Good for. That, yeah, but I don't.
- 51:44Need to. Sell that to people and I like
- 51:48the and I don't need more cleaning work like I work as
- 51:52much as I want to. But now we're doing this, Emily
- 51:54and. This requires social media
- 51:57personality and presence and time and work.
- 52:01And it's a big learning curve for me to like be on social
- 52:06media as a working mindset versus either just like minimal
- 52:12scrolling or like post and ghost.
- 52:15Like I, I don't even post much on my personal stuff.
- 52:20And so it's, it's, it's testing me to to consume social media
- 52:28under the mindset of how I can replicate it and.
- 52:33Job wise, sometimes I feel like I don't work.
- 52:37Sometimes I feel like I'm not working.
- 52:38I'm like, am I actually working? You know, like, well, yeah, I
- 52:42am. I'm on like I'm being paid to
- 52:45put this post on for this restaurant or whatever.
- 52:47It's like, but it doesn't feel like it, like I'm not doing
- 52:50anything. So I'm like, I almost feel
- 52:51guilty for doing it. It's such a weird mindset that I
- 52:55have. Anyway, Diana, there's one more
- 52:59thing you would like to, you know, share with the class You
- 53:05just want to like to nice round this out.
- 53:09And do you want people to walk away from this experience of
- 53:12meeting you? I mean, we've talked about that
- 53:13a little bit of how people, when you're gone from this planet,
- 53:16how we want people to remember you.
- 53:19But as we leave this. This formal sit because we'll do
- 53:22a little bit on the downward trek and we'll do an outro type
- 53:26of thing, but. As we sat up here and talked
- 53:29about your journey into Move Now and becoming a Move Now
- 53:33instructor and teaching and guiding other people in living
- 53:38their most natural wild movement oriented and integrated
- 53:44lifestyle. Yeah.
- 53:47What do you want people to take from this and then go do in
- 53:52their life? They they this podcast episode
- 53:55ends and they say oh, Diana inspired me to X.
- 54:02Thank you Emily, love you so much.
- 54:04I love you too. So I feel like the message has
- 54:10two sides to it because one part of me feels very strongly like
- 54:15this is so important, it's so vital, it's so necessary.
- 54:20Like take it seriously. Your physical and like all
- 54:26entire well-being really depends on reclaiming your ability to
- 54:34move more naturally. It's going to affect your
- 54:37lifespan. It's going to affect your
- 54:39quality of life. It's going to affect what you're
- 54:42able to do later in, in your lifetime and in older age.
- 54:47And it's going to help you feel more empowered as a person.
- 54:51And so then it has a seriousness to it.
- 54:55And then it also has another really lighter side to it of
- 55:01like, this is fun. This is playful.
- 55:06This is also something to keep in balance and to stay, I guess,
- 55:14like, yeah, balanced in your approach, just as you would with
- 55:18any other health practice where if you take it to the extreme, I
- 55:22definitely don't want people starting to feel like this is
- 55:26something that is something to feel bad about if you're not
- 55:31doing good enough or you're intimidated and that you're
- 55:37comparing yourself to where other people are at in their
- 55:39journey. And.
- 55:42So. Yeah.
- 55:43Or that it's out of reach because they're so out of touch
- 55:47with it. Right or out of shape or older.
- 55:51So I really want people to know that they can start wherever
- 55:55they're at and that every step in that direction towards
- 56:04reclaiming more of a natural movement based lifestyle, which
- 56:09really goes honestly beyond even movement itself.
- 56:13It's ultimately A rewilding practice of living a life that's
- 56:19more connected to nature. And so any step that you can
- 56:26take in that direction is going to be beneficial, whether it's
- 56:28just going barefoot at home instead of wearing shoes in your
- 56:32house. If you're someone that does
- 56:34that, or if you already go barefoot at home, start going
- 56:37barefoot in your yard. If you already go barefoot in
- 56:40your yard, start maybe trying barefoot hiking every once in a
- 56:44while. And if you already do that
- 56:46sometimes, then maybe you're ready to try even running
- 56:50barefoot. And so you can think of like
- 56:52going barefoot as that continuum.
- 56:54And that is true with any approach to natural movement.
- 56:58If it has to do with just sitting a little bit less and
- 57:03walking a little bit more, or switching to a standing
- 57:08workstation, or switching to a floor workstation, or getting
- 57:12rid of all the furniture in your home like.
- 57:15You. The Sky's the limit with like
- 57:17where you want to go and what level you feel is appropriate to
- 57:21you. And also, as you're going
- 57:24through it, as you get to different levels of a more
- 57:27natural movement based lifestyle, you might start to
- 57:30get inspired to take things to a level beyond where maybe you had
- 57:36thought that you wanted to before.
- 57:38Or the flip side is possible. You could also realize that,
- 57:42like you're in a sweet spot and you actually don't need to go
- 57:46full as extreme if that's the type of person you're you are
- 57:49and you initially decided that you were going to go all out and
- 57:53become, you know, total Tarzan. And then you actually want to
- 58:00like scale it back so that you can still interact with modern
- 58:03society. I think there is a sweet spot
- 58:06and I want people to feel inspired more than intimidated,
- 58:11but I also want people to challenge themselves a little
- 58:13bit and use that to like fuel their fire and get inspired and
- 58:20continue to take that approach of like ground and find out.
- 58:24Like play around with what you might actually be capable of or
- 58:28what you're growing edge is and just continue to explore and
- 58:31pursue that. Awesome, awesome.
- 58:34Hey, we're good. Should we do a deep swap?
- 58:36Should we do a OH? I'm still in the chair.
- 58:42Get out of. The chair.
- 58:46Our feet are flat on the ground. You can't really.
- 58:48See. Our feet are flat on the ground,
- 58:58heels are on the ground. Awesome.
- 59:02Natural resting position. Everybody should have access to
- 59:05this position. That's my goal.
- 59:07Yeah, for you. If you don't know how to get
- 59:09there, I can help give you some tips.
