Pixel.wav | Final Fantasy, Funky Medleys, & Building a Nerdy-Orchestral Dream
In this episode, I talk with André, Joel, and Robby—members of Pixel.wav, a 10-piece nerdy-orchestral ensemble bringing Final Fantasy music to life in a fresh, genre-bending way.
We dig into how the band formed, the struggle to pick a name, and the joy (and chaos) of arranging iconic video game scores for live performance. They share how they chose their set list, created medleys, balanced the ensemble, and kept things fun and surprising for both the audience and the musicians.
We also talk about visuals, tempo choices, and why Final Fantasy music hits so hard—especially when interpreted…
