- 0:11Speaker 1: How if everybody Jess You're good?
- 0:14Speaker 2: Hi everyone, it's me Jess once again.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 0:18Speaker 2: How are you?
- 0:19Speaker 1: I feel kind of awesome? Do you? I mean in
- 0:24Speaker 1: this exact moment?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Right? Okay, Chris, I love doing the podcast. Oh yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 2: Christmas is in three days. How are you feeling about that?
- 0:32Speaker 2: How are you feeling about this past week? Give me
- 0:35Speaker 2: all of it.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm feeling so excited about Christmas. My little brother's coming
- 0:39Speaker 1: into town, my older brother and his wife, and my
- 0:43Speaker 1: niece and nephew. It's just going to be, you know,
- 0:46Speaker 1: back to the roots, back to how I am used
- 0:49Speaker 1: to celebrating Christmas.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yes, you know, that's so exciting. Also, something very exciting
- 0:55Speaker 2: was just announced a couple days ago. How do you
- 0:58Speaker 2: feel about that?
- 0:59Speaker 1: So, for those of you living under a rock, just kidding,
- 1:06Speaker 1: welcome to the Give Them La La squad. If you
- 1:08Speaker 1: are not a part of it, then maybe you don't
- 1:10Speaker 1: know about this. We are going on tour. I'm going
- 1:15Speaker 1: on tour woo Give Them La La brand new tour. Yes,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I know it's going to be very exciting. It was
- 1:26Speaker 1: pushed off a couple of times due to COVID, pushed
- 1:28Speaker 1: off again due to personal reasons, and now we're back.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's happening. I'm doing it solo. I'm going to have
- 1:36Speaker 1: incredible guests come. The format is going to be a
- 1:39Speaker 1: little bit different. You know, I love the word inspired. Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 1: it's like I love that word. I want people to
- 1:49Speaker 1: come and I want us to have a great time. Girls'
- 1:52Speaker 1: night out. Of course, bring your boo, bring you your dudes,
- 1:56Speaker 1: your usbands, everyone is welcome. But I I think at
- 2:00Speaker 1: this point in my life, you know, we really need
- 2:04Speaker 1: to talk about the female empowerment. I want to bring
- 2:08Speaker 1: women on stage who have incredible stories and how they
- 2:10Speaker 1: bounced back from everything from betrayal to maybe financial woes
- 2:17Speaker 1: that they weren't expecting. Just something to make all of
- 2:20Speaker 1: us feel less alone. Now, with that being said, let's
- 2:24Speaker 1: not get it twisted. I may be sober, but most
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm assuming of the people coming to the show are not.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So I want everyone to catch a good buzz. Yes,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I want to do some games. I want to get
- 2:38Speaker 1: to know my I hate calling them this my fans,
- 2:42Speaker 1: my people. Yeah, you're my people. My rider dies.
- 2:46Speaker 2: The way that Laala's been talking about how much she
- 2:49Speaker 2: just wants to like interact with her people. The listeners
- 2:54Speaker 2: is so exciting because I just think back to, like,
- 2:57Speaker 2: I haven't gone to a show since before COVID, I
- 3:00Speaker 2: haven't gone to anyone, and I think back of like
- 3:02Speaker 2: going to shows, and that was what pulled me to
- 3:05Speaker 2: a show where I was like, Oh, this person's gonna
- 3:07Speaker 2: interact and this is I mean, I love sitting and
- 3:10Speaker 2: watching people do their thing, but then when it's interacting
- 3:13Speaker 2: with me right whole other level.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So I mean, yeah, let's be honest. My people are
- 3:20Speaker 1: not buying tickets to show up and watch me sing
- 3:22Speaker 1: as if I'm fucking Mariah Carrie. Like I know exactly
- 3:26Speaker 1: what this is. I'm on a reality TV show. You
- 3:30Speaker 1: guys and myself are bonded. I want to interact. So
- 3:36Speaker 1: with all of that fun stuff about what the show
- 3:39Speaker 1: is going to be, like, let's announce some dates. Let's
- 3:42Speaker 1: announce some cities. You can find the dates follow me
- 3:45Speaker 1: on Instagram. If you don't follow me on the gram,
- 3:46Speaker 1: what are you doing? We are going to Fort Lauderdale, Clearwater, Orlando, Atlanta, Nashville,
- 3:54Speaker 1: New Orleans, Houston, Austin, and Dallas. And you guys, we
- 3:59Speaker 1: have added shows. We've added shows. Obviously Nashville is new
- 4:04Speaker 1: woo woo. And we have added Irvine, California, California.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Thank goodness.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So many people were like, wtf, mate, you're not doing
- 4:15Speaker 1: any dates in California, and I said, fuck it, Yolo,
- 4:18Speaker 1: we're stopping to We're stopping in Irvine and prov That's awesome.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I'm so excited.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Oh my god, it's it's gonna be so much fun.
- 4:27Speaker 2: You are going to kill it and I think everyone
- 4:30Speaker 2: should be super humped.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So tickets are on sale now at give them
- 4:36Speaker 1: live dot com. And just so you know, if you
- 4:39Speaker 1: have already purchased a ticket, like when we were originally
- 4:43Speaker 1: going to do it, your ticket is still valid. I repeat,
- 4:48Speaker 1: if you bought a ticket for the prior tour that
- 4:52Speaker 1: we were going to do, your ticket is still valid.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And I cannot wait to see you. Wooo. I know vibe.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So then I know, I asked you about your past week,
- 5:03Speaker 2: and then we just sort of popped into the tour news.
- 5:07Speaker 2: So exciting, but I want to go back to that,
- 5:08Speaker 2: So tell me how's your past week?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Then? How I feel? You know, last week's podcast, I
- 5:13Speaker 1: think hit home for a lot of people I got
- 5:16Speaker 1: a outpoor of, just like love, support and also people
- 5:21Speaker 1: who relate, which is huge because I need those people
- 5:24Speaker 1: because sometimes I feel like I'm on an island by myself.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Like I said, I find things out daily. And if
- 5:33Speaker 1: he whose name I shall not say, knew what I know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: he would be shitting bricks. Yeah, oh boy, Oh but
- 5:46Speaker 1: you know what this Saint vander Pump rules. No, it's
- 5:49Speaker 1: not so. I have zipped lips for now. Yeah, you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: take care of Oh, she's going into her first Christmas.
- 6:00Speaker 1: He's gonna see a lot of Santa Claus. Because who
- 6:03Speaker 1: doesn't love Santa Claus. We love Santa even now. I
- 6:07Speaker 1: still think Santa is real.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Santa is real.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Talking about that fucking real?
- 6:13Speaker 2: So real?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yes, Like when I hear the song by Alabama they
- 6:16Speaker 1: have a Christmas album. If you haven't heard their Christmas
- 6:19Speaker 1: album like this, will hear the Christmas Bear? Oh my,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I've Ocean loves it. There's a song on that album
- 6:27Speaker 1: that talks about Oh, Shane Claus, I still believe in you,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and I'm like I do. Oh my god, it was
- 6:36Speaker 1: the best Christmas album. I'm telling you what. I grew
- 6:39Speaker 1: up listening to it and my dad's my Dad's candy
- 6:42Speaker 1: Apple red Toyota, Tacoma.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Oh my god. So even though maybe she might not
- 6:48Speaker 2: like know that cookies are being set out, are you
- 6:50Speaker 2: still gonna do that?
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yes? Of course it's cut. And she's very into not reading.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I mean she holds a book she's reading, and she
- 7:01Speaker 1: listens when you read to her. So I'm gonna write
- 7:03Speaker 1: the note on everything and read it to her.
- 7:05Speaker 2: That's so cute. I just got goose bump.
- 7:08Speaker 1: So cute.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Right, Oh my god.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna set out a little milk in a bottle.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Oh, Santa's gonna have a bottle.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Santa's gonna have a bubba love it. Yeah. So I'm
- 7:19Speaker 1: feeling good. I'm feeling good in this moment. I'm excited
- 7:22Speaker 1: just about the day and the holiday coming up. Do
- 7:25Speaker 1: you watch Real Housewives of Orange County?
- 7:28Speaker 2: I haven't yet. You haven't watched it, but I've seen
- 7:31Speaker 2: some clips and I know that there are like new characters.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Why fill me in on something?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Okay, so last season, oh see, got a little weird
- 7:39Speaker 1: for me. But every show has growing pains. It's not
- 7:41Speaker 1: gonna be a hit every single time, you know, So
- 7:44Speaker 1: I roll with the punches of shows like even if
- 7:47Speaker 1: you have one, like okay, season like I'm still writer
- 7:49Speaker 1: or die for you. I'm gonna watch and I'm gonna
- 7:50Speaker 1: tune in next season. Right, this season is fantastic. Okay,
- 7:56Speaker 1: it's episode three. I believe there's a new episode on tonight.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But last week's episode there's this stunning woman named Noela. Okay,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and in this episode she gets served divorce papers with
- 8:11Speaker 1: no warning, no warning at all. Credit cards, all types
- 8:16Speaker 1: of funds done. She doesn't have access to anything. In
- 8:20Speaker 1: her interview, she talks about how she has no line
- 8:23Speaker 1: of credit, she has no access to money, and I
- 8:28Speaker 1: was shaking in my boots. Wow. I don't think people
- 8:34Speaker 1: realize women how important it is, no matter who you
- 8:41Speaker 1: are with, to have your ducks in a row financially.
- 8:46Speaker 1: You may never have to use your funds for a
- 8:49Speaker 1: rainy day, Yeah, but God forbid, you have to. You
- 8:55Speaker 1: have to have your own money, yes. And I learned
- 8:59Speaker 1: this from my mom. She learned it from her mom.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I never combine funds with whose name we shall not mention.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I always have my own credit card, always had my
- 9:11Speaker 1: own bank account. Contrary to what people may think, I
- 9:14Speaker 1: never had access to anything he had never really never. Wow. Yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 1: and thank god, because I'll tell you what, I was
- 9:28Speaker 1: the type of person where I would thinking about in
- 9:30Speaker 1: my relationship not now. Back then, I was like, ill,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I will be one of those who never has to
- 9:36Speaker 1: use this. Yeah. The fact that when shit hit the fan,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I was able to know questions asked, leave the car behind,
- 9:46Speaker 1: leave the house behind, don't need the fucking insurance. I mean,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I feel so blessed that my mom instilled that in me.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So if people get anything from this podcast, I don't care.
- 9:58Speaker 1: If you're in the happiest relationship in the entire world,
- 10:02Speaker 1: get your own funds immediately. She said it, she said
- 10:07Speaker 1: what she said it, she said what she said, no it, Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: my heart broke for her.
- 10:14Speaker 2: That's heartbreaking, but so yeah, absolutely so smart. There's nothing more.
- 10:21Speaker 2: There's probably nothing more painful and feeling like a prison
- 10:26Speaker 2: than not being able to leave something that you know
- 10:29Speaker 2: you need to leave because you're like, I can't, I
- 10:32Speaker 2: can't survive out there.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Right, I'm extremely passionate about this topic at this time.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I can tell Yes, you're really and that's
- 10:41Speaker 2: incredible because, yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Thank you. I never want to see a woman or
- 10:46Speaker 1: a mother stuck. So yeah, again, if you've learned, if
- 10:51Speaker 1: you learn nothing else from this podcast today, hurry and
- 10:56Speaker 1: be smart that way because I've always said, like money
- 11:01Speaker 1: doesn't mean much. Money comes and goes, but God forbid,
- 11:06Speaker 1: one day you have to get the fuck out. I
- 11:09Speaker 1: want you to be able to get the fuck out.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Do we have any voicemails, Jazz, Yes, we do.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Okay, let's do this one.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Hi, Lama, I just want to say that you are
- 11:22Speaker 3: definitely one of my role models. I have journeyed into
- 11:25Speaker 3: the life of sobriety and I really look to you
- 11:30Speaker 3: to keep pushing forward within myself to stay sober. So
- 11:34Speaker 3: I just want to say thank you for that. My
- 11:37Speaker 3: question is that I just want to know how you
- 11:42Speaker 3: can communicate well with a partner. I find it really
- 11:47Speaker 3: difficult sometimes with me and my partner when we get
- 11:51Speaker 3: into arguments, it seems like I'm talking to a wall.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And I just was wondering if you have any.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Advice on that how to communicate that. But yeah, thank
- 12:02Speaker 3: you so much. My name is Natalie, and I hope
- 12:06Speaker 3: you have a great day and love your podcast.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Oh Natalie, communicating well with a partner before we deep
- 12:12Speaker 1: dive into that congratulations on your sobriety. There's so many
- 12:18Speaker 1: people who come to me asking like, how did you
- 12:21Speaker 1: get sober? I'm struggling with this and it's a tough
- 12:27Speaker 1: road to pick and I almost wish I could like
- 12:31Speaker 1: have the crystal ball to show people what their future
- 12:34Speaker 1: holds once they get sober, because if they could see it,
- 12:36Speaker 1: they would get sober immediately, no questions asked. Right, Not
- 12:39Speaker 1: to say you're not going to hit bumps in the road.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I mean, life happens still. Just because you get sober
- 12:44Speaker 1: doesn't mean you're like have lollipops in your mouth all
- 12:46Speaker 1: day and it's like rainbows every day. You know, like,
- 12:50Speaker 1: shit happens, but you're able to deal with it. So congratulations,
- 12:57Speaker 1: keep it up. It's so worth it. We're bonded for life.
- 13:00Speaker 1: That communicating with a partner you feel like you're talking
- 13:02Speaker 1: to a wall. That is, I mean you're talking to
- 13:06Speaker 1: someone who I felt communication was everything and I literally
- 13:11Speaker 1: felt like our communication was on point. I think when
- 13:16Speaker 1: you start seeing signs like you're talking to a wall,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I think there's a much bigger picture to start looking at.
- 13:25Speaker 1: What else When you say things, what is your partner's
- 13:29Speaker 1: rebuttal because there are certain things that some people characteristics
- 13:35Speaker 1: that people have and they are signs of many things.
- 13:41Speaker 1: One could be narcissism that to me, see, I'm in
- 13:48Speaker 1: like I'm trying to remember how to communicate, but you
- 13:50Speaker 1: also have to remember my relationship was just based on lies.
- 13:58Speaker 1: So to talk about communication, I mean, I feel like
- 14:00Speaker 1: both parties have to be open, willing to listen, and
- 14:03Speaker 1: most importantly, be honest. If you're not seeing that in
- 14:07Speaker 1: your partner, do not hesitate, get the fuck out. I mean,
- 14:13Speaker 1: I am not playing anymore. And who knows down the line,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I could find a great partner in like, all of
- 14:18Speaker 1: the ways that I feel now could be remedied. I
- 14:20Speaker 1: could work through them. But I just feel like everyone
- 14:26Speaker 1: says relationships are a lot of work, and they are,
- 14:31Speaker 1: but communicating with your partner shouldn't be a lot of work.
- 14:36Speaker 1: That's great advice. Wow, if you love someone and you're
- 14:39Speaker 1: committed to them, you should be able to sit down
- 14:42Speaker 1: and hear them. And yes, you may raise your voice,
- 14:44Speaker 1: you may yell, kick and scream, but if when you're
- 14:48Speaker 1: sharing your feelings with someone and you feel like you're
- 14:51Speaker 1: talking to a wall, goodbye. Yeah, I'm out. Look for
- 14:59Speaker 1: those things. If you're in a relationship, look for characteristics
- 15:03Speaker 1: so that you can see what type of person it
- 15:06Speaker 1: is that you're dealing with. Because we live in a
- 15:09Speaker 1: different day and age, there's things popping up online, we're
- 15:11Speaker 1: watching TV, we're scrolling the internet. Like our brains are
- 15:15Speaker 1: not the way. Our brains don't work the way our
- 15:18Speaker 1: mom and dads do or their parents' minds work. It's
- 15:22Speaker 1: just different. My advice is, if something is not working
- 15:25Speaker 1: and you don't see change, get the fuck out.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And you don't see change. That's a good key point
- 15:32Speaker 2: because I know a lot of relationships they're like, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 2: this isn't working. I feel disconnected. I have friends and
- 15:38Speaker 2: family who have gone through that. What's going on? But
- 15:41Speaker 2: then there's work, there's therapy, and then there's change. But
- 15:45Speaker 2: so I think the key is what you said, you
- 15:47Speaker 2: know something isn't working, you don't see change? Bye?
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Communication and honesty. See in my old relationship, communication
- 15:55Speaker 1: I felt was on point. The honesty, the honesty. See
- 16:01Speaker 1: now looking.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Back, did you is there anything because you're saying the
- 16:07Speaker 2: honesty now, but you didn't know the honesty off That.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Flags everywhere Okay, oh my god, Okay, every piece to
- 16:17Speaker 1: the puzzle fits flawlessly.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:21Speaker 1: And at the.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Time, what did you just ignore him because you're like, oh,
- 16:24Speaker 2: they don't make sense.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I just felt that he was so intertwined in my life,
- 16:33Speaker 1: and I thought he was so down for me. Anytime
- 16:35Speaker 1: with fight. He's blown up my mom, he's blown up
- 16:37Speaker 1: my brother, he's blown up every single person to make
- 16:40Speaker 1: it right. I just felt that there was that he
- 16:45Speaker 1: was so down for me. You know, I thought he
- 16:50Speaker 1: makes stupid decisions. I definitely didn't think that he was
- 16:54Speaker 1: doing what he was doing. No, that would have been
- 16:57Speaker 1: gone a long time ago. I honestly, with what I
- 17:01Speaker 1: know now, we wouldn't have even made it into a
- 17:04Speaker 1: relationship at all.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Wow.
- 17:07Speaker 1: It would have ended as quickly as we met.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the part I struggle with a lot. Yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 1: sitting here being like, it's one thing to make me
- 17:17Speaker 1: feel safe, secure, whatever, But to make me feel so
- 17:23Speaker 1: secure that I'm willing to start a family with you, now,
- 17:28Speaker 1: that's sick.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Yeah. But you just I know everyone says this and
- 17:33Speaker 2: people are messaging you this. You just have to keep
- 17:35Speaker 2: going back to ocean. I got ocean, you know.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, No, the best thing that's ever happened to me
- 17:40Speaker 1: in my life. And there will be a day where
- 17:42Speaker 1: this podcast doesn't consist of he who we shall not
- 17:45Speaker 1: mention or whatever. Course, there will be a day, But
- 17:48Speaker 1: the podcast right now is about bonding, inspiring, and making
- 17:54Speaker 1: us feel like we're not alone. And even though I'm
- 17:57Speaker 1: hoping to help my listener, my listeners are also helping me. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 1: because I sit here and I feel like I'm talking
- 18:08Speaker 1: about it and I'm like, they're sick of this. But you know,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I'm trying to process five and a half years a
- 18:15Speaker 1: little over of just not being real, and I'm looking
- 18:21Speaker 1: at my baby and I'm like, how could something so
- 18:24Speaker 1: perfect come from something that I feel is so disgusting
- 18:28Speaker 1: and dirty and dark and something that represents nothing that
- 18:33Speaker 1: I represent?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the value system of that does not align with
- 18:41Speaker 1: what I represent how I was raised. That is so
- 18:46Speaker 1: difficult for me to deal with on a day to
- 18:49Speaker 1: day basis.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but just being an outsider and hearing what you say.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I mean, something so beautiful coming from something so dark
- 18:58Speaker 2: can be applied to so many things in life and
- 19:01Speaker 2: give so many people hope because you might be somewhere
- 19:04Speaker 2: where you're like this, I am in such a dark place,
- 19:08Speaker 2: how will it ever get better? But I think listening
- 19:11Speaker 2: to you, it's like, well, something so perfect came from
- 19:15Speaker 2: something so dark and Lalla's life, there's gotta be something
- 19:19Speaker 2: better on the other side of this.
- 19:20Speaker 1: There will be, Yeah, there will be for all of us.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And you know, I don't feel like I need to
- 19:28Speaker 1: share everything that I know at this point in time
- 19:32Speaker 1: because I I know the universe reveals people's truths period M.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I have to trust in that, just yeah, because I
- 19:45Speaker 1: sit here sometimes and I'm like, how, how, how, how
- 19:49Speaker 1: the fuck is this my life?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:57Speaker 1: My constant concern is worrying about my baby, making money
- 20:04Speaker 1: and working and trying to keep my head above water.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And I have to remember it had nothing to do
- 20:11Speaker 1: with me, exactly, nothing nothing to do with me. And
- 20:18Speaker 1: I want other people to realize this when they go
- 20:20Speaker 1: through something like what I'm going through. It had nothing
- 20:22Speaker 1: to do with you. This is all them, yes, exactly.
- 20:30Speaker 1: That most likely your partner who did you dirty, hates
- 20:36Speaker 1: themselves so fucking much that they will reach for anybody
- 20:42Speaker 1: to make them feel like they're not repulsive.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a sad life to live. You might feel
- 20:51Speaker 2: broken now, but guess what, You're going to get through
- 20:55Speaker 2: this and everybody knows that, and you are going to
- 20:58Speaker 2: see we're all going through it, going to get through it,
- 21:01Speaker 2: and it's going to be unfortunate because some people might
- 21:05Speaker 2: you know, you'll as you're soaring. Some people are just
- 21:08Speaker 2: going to be staying right where they are. Or that's
- 21:11Speaker 2: my mission in life, crashing and burning. Who knows, who
- 21:16Speaker 2: the fuck knows what the future holds. Yeah, but I
- 21:18Speaker 2: will say I am.
- 21:20Speaker 1: A Girl's a girl, strong, smart, empowered women. That's who
- 21:27Speaker 1: I That's the only that's the only type of person
- 21:30Speaker 1: I want to surround myself with right now. If you
- 21:32Speaker 1: can't offer me that, then I can't offer you anything.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I love that next question, dude, I just got way
- 21:40Speaker 1: deep on that.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Okay, Hey, my name is Morgan. I've been a huge
- 21:44Speaker 3: fan of yours for about six years now, which is
- 21:46Speaker 3: just insane to think about. I'm just wondering if you
- 21:49Speaker 3: could share some advice on how you found you know,
- 21:53Speaker 3: what you're good at, and what you're really passionate about.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I was wondering if you always want to be in
- 21:58Speaker 3: the roles in positions hearing now and how did you
- 22:01Speaker 3: figure out what you wanted? Thank you so much and
- 22:04Speaker 3: I love you. I'm so proud of you getting through
- 22:08Speaker 3: these times being a new mom and everything. You're just
- 22:11Speaker 3: killing it.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So thanks all, Morgan, thank you my love. You know
- 22:16Speaker 1: I with what I wanted to do. I knew at
- 22:18Speaker 1: such a young age, Jess, did you yes, Morgan, I
- 22:21Speaker 1: knew at such a young age, yeah, seven years old.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I knew I wanted to be an entertainment and there
- 22:26Speaker 1: was nothing else that I wanted to do at all.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 22:31Speaker 1: The first time I moved to LA, I was nineteen,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and when I lasted about four months, I was like, well,
- 22:35Speaker 1: I guess I could be like a psychologist or something.
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's like, moved home, went to community college, and I
- 22:41Speaker 1: was like, fuck this, I'm going back to LA and
- 22:46Speaker 1: like I'm doing it. I'm doing it. I did it
- 22:50Speaker 1: differently than I thought I would be doing it.
- 22:52Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:52Speaker 1: I thought I was gonna be and on the big screen. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: at the Oscars. That's okay, though God had a different
- 22:59Speaker 1: plan for me.
- 23:00Speaker 2: There's still time.
- 23:01Speaker 1: There's still time. And it's so funny to ask, like,
- 23:05Speaker 1: how did you know what you were good at? I
- 23:08Speaker 1: don't even necessarily know if I'm good at what I do,
- 23:10Speaker 1: But in my mind, I'm like, I'm the best at
- 23:12Speaker 1: what I do. No one can tell me otherwise. Yeah,
- 23:16Speaker 1: And some people would say like, oh, this bitch is cocky,
- 23:19Speaker 1: conceited bitch. But you have to feel that way about
- 23:23Speaker 1: yourself in this line of work because people will eat
- 23:26Speaker 1: you alive.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Oh do you believe you did a little bit or
- 23:31Speaker 2: a lot of faking it until you make it? Do
- 23:33Speaker 2: you believe in that.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I faked it until I made it? Most of my
- 23:38Speaker 1: life up until probably, I want to say, once I
- 23:42Speaker 1: turned like twenty six, is when I started feeling myself
- 23:48Speaker 1: a bit. It was like, Okay, I feel comfortable in
- 23:51Speaker 1: my skin. Things that I used to pick at and
- 23:53Speaker 1: think like this is I don't like this about myself.
- 23:56Speaker 1: It was like, get over it. Things you cannot change,
- 24:01Speaker 1: Get over it.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 1: So yeah, I feel like I faked it until I
- 24:06Speaker 1: made it. I walked on onto vander Pump Rules so insecure,
- 24:10Speaker 1: and everyone thought I was the most confident person in
- 24:11Speaker 1: the world. But it's like, if I don't act this way,
- 24:14Speaker 1: this group of people will send me packing back to Utah.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And that can't happen because I don't like college. That's
- 24:22Speaker 1: my only option if I go back there.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Oh my god, I love that.
- 24:26Speaker 1: You know, I was too old to be modeling Maggie
- 24:28Speaker 1: Sataro prom dresses. So yeah, yes, fake it until you
- 24:35Speaker 1: make it.
- 24:35Speaker 2: What was there? Because you said you've known your passion
- 24:40Speaker 2: and what you wanted to do since seven years old.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Do you remember a specific moment, and maybe you don't,
- 24:45Speaker 2: but where you I don't know if you were watching
- 24:47Speaker 2: a movie or or you saw someone and you're like, oh,
- 24:50Speaker 2: this is a job, this is what I want, this
- 24:52Speaker 2: is what I want to do.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Every time I turned on the TV, most kids would
- 24:57Speaker 1: be watching Disney Channel, thinking like, ugh, it's fun TV show,
- 25:00Speaker 1: and I was looking at them like these are actors
- 25:02Speaker 1: playing pretend and I want to do that really, Like
- 25:06Speaker 1: I never looked at them, and I liked everything that
- 25:09Speaker 1: came along with it. I remember being in elementary school
- 25:12Speaker 1: watching TV feeling like a lazy fuck, like how are
- 25:16Speaker 1: you just sitting on your ass right now? Should be
- 25:18Speaker 1: out doing something. And it's like, well, you can't go
- 25:21Speaker 1: get a job at the age of six, you know, Oh,
- 25:25Speaker 1: but I'm like these kids are acting, making money, doing
- 25:29Speaker 1: what they love. Like I want to do that. Unfortunately
- 25:31Speaker 1: I didn't have a stage mom. Yeah, which might have
- 25:34Speaker 1: been a good thing.
- 25:35Speaker 2: That's probably a good thing, but also incredible at that
- 25:37Speaker 2: time you thought that because little six year old me
- 25:40Speaker 2: was like, look at this Hannah and Ta. I don't
- 25:44Speaker 2: know who I was watching, but this is actually her.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Didn't cross my mind these were actors, no way when
- 25:50Speaker 2: I was watching. I don't know why. I like, maybe
- 25:53Speaker 2: not until I was like ten, and then I was like, oh,
- 25:55Speaker 2: I get it. This is not Oh god, that's probably
- 25:58Speaker 2: way too old to be realizing whatever. But I don't
- 26:01Speaker 2: ever remember. That's that is unique because I do not
- 26:05Speaker 2: ever remember watching TV or movies and thinking it all like, oh,
- 26:09Speaker 2: look at these kids, they're acting. I just enjoyed it.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I was that lazy girl on the couch being like,
- 26:13Speaker 2: I need a chill.
- 26:14Speaker 1: I hope that ocean's like you really, it would break
- 26:17Speaker 1: my heart if she told me that she was that's
- 26:20Speaker 1: the way she was thinking the way. I pray to
- 26:22Speaker 1: God she doesn't think the way I think. Really, I
- 26:25Speaker 1: don't feel like it was a healthy way to be
- 26:26Speaker 1: thinking for a child. My mind was was was very
- 26:32Speaker 1: it was too complex, Yeah, to manage at such a
- 26:37Speaker 1: young age.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yeah, very mature. Well, it's like intelligent people.
- 26:43Speaker 2: A lot of intelligent people, very intelligent, super high at
- 26:46Speaker 2: qs say, oh no, I wish I was not this
- 26:48Speaker 2: intelligent because it's hard to live life every day.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I'm not as smart as I can't. I don't even
- 26:53Speaker 1: know what my IQ is, but I you know.
- 26:56Speaker 2: But being an intelligent child and processing things differently, that is,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I'm sure was a burden but also special.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Well it taught me to grow up and I
- 27:06Speaker 1: knew exactly what I wanted. So yeah, it later in
- 27:09Speaker 1: life became a blessing. Yes, you know, yes, but when
- 27:13Speaker 1: I see kids that think the way I think, yeah,
- 27:16Speaker 1: like I feel sad for them, Like you have your
- 27:19Speaker 1: whole life to be thinking. Yes, I just go throw
- 27:22Speaker 1: the baseball around. You know, my friends, my friend's little
- 27:25Speaker 1: boy has so much anxiety. He worries if he throws
- 27:28Speaker 1: the ball wrong when he plays, you know, his little
- 27:31Speaker 1: baseball games, And I'm like, I so get it, you do. Yes,
- 27:36Speaker 1: it's anxiety about tests, going to school. It's like, if
- 27:39Speaker 1: you fail the freaking test, who gives a shit? No,
- 27:41Speaker 1: one's gonna be like, well, in the seventh grader or no,
- 27:43Speaker 1: he's not even in the seventh he's seven, so whatever,
- 27:45Speaker 1: that is fast grade. And I was gonna be like, wow,
- 27:49Speaker 1: we'd love to welcome me to Harvard. But yeah, in
- 27:52Speaker 1: the first grade, you failed your math test, Like.
- 27:54Speaker 2: No, yeah, just be a kid.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll work on it. You're you tried as long
- 28:01Speaker 1: as you tried your best. I watched you study. Yeah,
- 28:04Speaker 1: you just didn't understand it. Let's let's understand it so
- 28:07Speaker 1: that the next test to do better.
- 28:09Speaker 2: How lucky is ocean you guys, I don't know.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So because this is the last podcast episode before the
- 28:17Speaker 1: New Year, I want us to deep dive into Christmas traditions,
- 28:23Speaker 1: even New Year's traditions. So when we come back, I'm
- 28:25Speaker 1: going to share some of mine. Jess, it's going to
- 28:26Speaker 1: share some of hers. It's going to be all things Christmasy,
- 28:30Speaker 1: my favorite, my favorite topic besides Thanksgiving. We'll be right back.
- 28:38Speaker 1: We are back. Can I make you refer to me
- 28:42Speaker 1: as missus Clause for the rest of the.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Episode, Yes, missus Clause. Absolutely.
- 28:50Speaker 1: You know I always feel I've always felt this way.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I used to be really when I thought, oh, I
- 28:58Speaker 1: hope no one's kids are listening. If your kids are listening,
- 29:01Speaker 1: just turn down this part.
- 29:03Speaker 2: If your kids are listening up to this point, right,
- 29:07Speaker 2: don't let them listen at all.
- 29:08Speaker 1: But let's just say you're one of those you're like,
- 29:11Speaker 1: quote unquote cool mom. No, just I don't want to
- 29:15Speaker 1: burst their bubble. When I thought Santa Claus was real,
- 29:18Speaker 1: I was always so jealous of missus clause are you serious?
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so cute.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I just thought like, oh my, she gets to live
- 29:28Speaker 1: at the North Pole and it's cozy, and she's always
- 29:31Speaker 1: in like a.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Robe, Lala, you're living out your dream in the robe.
- 29:37Speaker 2: The robe aspect, You've got cover your right.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Judgica arrives every morning and I'm still in my gray robe.
- 29:44Speaker 2: The gray robe is iconic at this point.
- 29:46Speaker 1: It's a fucking vibe.
- 29:48Speaker 2: It's such a vibe.
- 29:49Speaker 1: It's just my natural habitat.
- 29:51Speaker 2: When I see that gray robe on La La, I'm like,
- 29:53Speaker 2: it's gonna be a good day.
- 29:56Speaker 1: So every day. No, I was just so jealous of
- 29:58Speaker 1: her because I and I I knew she was a
- 30:00Speaker 1: great cook. Yeah, and I knew that there was a
- 30:03Speaker 1: fireplace in every part of her house, so many fireplaces,
- 30:07Speaker 1: And I was like, she gets to see all of
- 30:09Speaker 1: the toys that are being made.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Oh that's so cute. When did you stop believing in
- 30:15Speaker 2: Santa missus clause?
- 30:18Speaker 1: Oh that's a really sad story. Oh no, I was
- 30:21Speaker 1: kind of young. I think it was in the third grade.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Is that young?
- 30:24Speaker 2: Third grade to believing? What is that? Not? No, that's
- 30:27Speaker 2: not I was like twelve. I was like, oh god, well, I.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Wish I would believed a little longer. But I used
- 30:35Speaker 1: to go to my grandma's house every Monday after school,
- 30:40Speaker 1: and like there were talks about Santa. But I'm gonna
- 30:44Speaker 1: be honest, like I always people that question of Santa
- 30:46Speaker 1: Claus was real. I always was like, there's no way
- 30:50Speaker 1: Santa Claus isn't real because I literally get everything that
- 30:54Speaker 1: I want, right, Like I put it on my list
- 30:57Speaker 1: and it appears, and.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Like I don't even tell mom my Dad, I put
- 31:02Speaker 2: it on my list. They there's no way they look
- 31:04Speaker 2: at it, right, they go.
- 31:06Speaker 1: So I sent it to the north Fall, all right,
- 31:11Speaker 1: But they were like talks, right, So I go to
- 31:13Speaker 1: my grandma's house. I literally remember there was so much snow.
- 31:19Speaker 1: It was getting dark because it gets dark early when
- 31:22Speaker 1: wintertime hits. And I was just curious, Okay, looking out
- 31:26Speaker 1: the front window all the snow, and I asked, my grandmother,
- 31:30Speaker 1: is Santa Claus real? And she looked me dead in
- 31:36Speaker 1: my fucking eyes. Instead, Lauren, Santa Claus is not real?
- 31:44Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? And I was devastated.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Oh my God, keeping it real, Grandma.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And that's when my dad was like, how could you
- 31:57Speaker 1: tell Lauren that Santa Claus isn't real? And she was
- 31:59Speaker 1: like she and we have to be honest.
- 32:02Speaker 2: That's actually really beautiful.
- 32:04Speaker 1: But also so Sadd's like, she's nine, you lie, okay?
- 32:10Speaker 1: And for me, like it was never about the I see.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I was one of those kids where I always got
- 32:16Speaker 1: the feels during Christmas time because I was like, it's Jesus' birthday,
- 32:20Speaker 1: and like I think people are when I start talking
- 32:22Speaker 1: about God. Here's the thing. I don't care what religion
- 32:26Speaker 1: you are. I don't like to talk about religion or
- 32:29Speaker 1: my belief system. Right now I'm relying a lot on
- 32:32Speaker 1: my belief system, so I'm talking about it more. But
- 32:36Speaker 1: I was definitely raised going to a non denominational Christian church.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I was raised much more spiritual rather than here's the
- 32:46Speaker 1: Bible and this is what we oh byde bye right, Yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 1: but I just always got the fields, you know, and
- 32:55Speaker 1: Christmas time in Utah with the snow and there's like
- 32:59Speaker 1: Nate Pivoty scenes everywhere, and I just like couldn't help
- 33:03Speaker 1: every Christmas, but feel like the spirit is with me
- 33:08Speaker 1: amen sick men, you know, yes, like all the Christmas songs.
- 33:15Speaker 1: One on on Alabama Christmas it's called Joseph and Mary's
- 33:18Speaker 1: Boy Can we hear? And the preacher said less Sunday
- 33:25Speaker 1: it was jose Mary's Boy. And I like literally would
- 33:30Speaker 1: sob in the back of my mom's car because I
- 33:32Speaker 1: just felt the spirit.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Oh, you felt the feeling, yes, So it.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Was like the presents were the bonus from me.
- 33:40Speaker 3: You know.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Yes, kids talk. I mean obviously I'm a kid. I
- 33:43Speaker 1: want my Barbie doll that I act for, Yes, But
- 33:48Speaker 1: it was the whole time of year, you know, and
- 33:51Speaker 1: we'd go and see the temple lights. We weren't Mormon,
- 33:54Speaker 1: but the temple lights in Salt Lake City are absolutely stunning. Really,
- 33:59Speaker 1: the temple rounds during Christmas, it's like a hole. If
- 34:03Speaker 1: you have not seen them, I totally recommend going just
- 34:09Speaker 1: to see them. I mean it's spectacular and there's this
- 34:13Speaker 1: giant window, and they have. And by the way, we're not.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I don't want anyone to be turned off by this episode.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I'm just talking about my the way I grew up
- 34:21Speaker 1: with Christmas. If you if you celebrate Christmas but you're
- 34:24Speaker 1: Jewish or any other religion, love it, any holiday, anything
- 34:30Speaker 1: very holiday you want to celebrate, you do you boo.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I'm with it. If you're if you're feeling something and
- 34:37Speaker 1: you rely on a higher power that may be different
- 34:39Speaker 1: from mine, doesn't matter.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Respect love it.
- 34:42Speaker 1: But I always remember this window when we would go
- 34:45Speaker 1: and see the lights and there was this statue of Jesus. Yeah,
- 34:51Speaker 1: and the way the light would shine on him. I
- 34:53Speaker 1: just like And I was a small kid, but I
- 34:56Speaker 1: would you just get like so emotional beyond.
- 35:01Speaker 2: That's so beautiful.
- 35:03Speaker 1: That's why I tell people it doesn't matter what your
- 35:06Speaker 1: higher power is or what your religion is. If you
- 35:08Speaker 1: speak about your religion or you read something and you
- 35:12Speaker 1: get those chills and you feel something, yeah, stick with that.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I love that. I love that.
- 35:19Speaker 1: That's what it's all about.
- 35:21Speaker 2: So then you was that a tradition. I'd love to
- 35:24Speaker 2: hear some of your did you go to the temple lights?
- 35:27Speaker 2: Is that what they're called it, they're called the Temple lights.
- 35:29Speaker 1: We would plant it with my entire family, Okay, my
- 35:32Speaker 1: immediate family, my dad's brothers, sisters, all of their kids.
- 35:35Speaker 1: We'd meet at Grandma's house. We would have dinner downtown.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Then we'd all get our little hot chocolates. We'd walk
- 35:42Speaker 1: over to the temple grounds and look at the lights
- 35:45Speaker 1: and you'd be all cozy, even though it would be
- 35:47Speaker 1: frigid outside, yes, and freezing, and it was just like
- 35:52Speaker 1: downtown Salt Lake during Christmas. It just doesn't get any better.
- 35:56Speaker 1: That's you feel like you're in a Christmas movie.
- 35:59Speaker 2: That's so beautiful. Now, what was this Christmas Eve? Was
- 36:02Speaker 2: this like a Christmas Eve tradition where you'd go and
- 36:04Speaker 2: look at the lights or just around Christmas time?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Around Christmas time? And then we always did the same
- 36:10Speaker 1: dinner on Christmas Eve with my dad's brother and his kids, okay,
- 36:14Speaker 1: and that was always fun. And then we'd go back
- 36:16Speaker 1: to my uncle's house and decorate our little like gingingerbread houses. Yeah,
- 36:23Speaker 1: and we would talk about Sama's coming, and you know,
- 36:26Speaker 1: like my dad did the whole thing of like putting
- 36:28Speaker 1: on the news Santa's on his way. We got to
- 36:30Speaker 1: get home. There's this you know play Look there he is,
- 36:34Speaker 1: and it was just like such a freaking vibe. I
- 36:37Speaker 1: want Ocean to grow up with Christmases like that.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Oh absolutely So. Then would you spend the night at
- 36:42Speaker 2: your uncles and would Santa come to your uncle?
- 36:44Speaker 1: No? We you, We would go home, We'd do our thing.
- 36:46Speaker 1: The next day. It was like we go to Grandma's house. Yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 1: the whole family again, and it just for me, family
- 36:53Speaker 1: was like the ultimate of everything. Like Christmas Bingo. We
- 36:57Speaker 1: would play and that's you know, if you want, and
- 37:00Speaker 1: you would get this gift because you were your last
- 37:03Speaker 1: your last chip on the bingo that got you Bingo
- 37:05Speaker 1: was blue and this gift has the blue tag, so
- 37:07Speaker 1: here you go. Like, it was just fantastic.
- 37:10Speaker 2: I want to play that game.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Now we all should play that game now.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Oh my god, that sounds so fun. And now it's
- 37:16Speaker 2: giving me more insight into why quality time means so
- 37:20Speaker 2: much too, because this is like all just quality. It's
- 37:23Speaker 2: like quality time with your family, and.
- 37:24Speaker 1: It's always always in.
- 37:26Speaker 2: The morning on Christmas morning. Would it be just you,
- 37:29Speaker 2: your mom, your dad, your brother, or you have more?
- 37:32Speaker 1: Okay, no, it was always my older brother is much older,
- 37:35Speaker 1: so I remember being very young and he would be there,
- 37:40Speaker 1: but I remember my dad would We would sit, Ea said,
- 37:43Speaker 1: and I would sit on the top of the stairs.
- 37:46Speaker 1: We weren't allowed to come down because my mom had
- 37:49Speaker 1: to make sure that everything was good. And I still
- 37:52Speaker 1: thinking Santa Claus real, okay, my mom and dad had
- 37:55Speaker 1: to make sure everything was good, and we would waltz
- 37:58Speaker 1: on down. We would put the cookies and the milk
- 38:02Speaker 1: in the little letter in the in the what is
- 38:05Speaker 1: it called the living room? I would know that people
- 38:07Speaker 1: still have living rooms. It's like a formal living room. Yeah,
- 38:10Speaker 1: and we would read it. And I'm telling you, Christmas
- 38:11Speaker 1: at my house, there's no way you would think Santa wasn't.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Really you wouldn't.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Would there be bites out of the cookie?
- 38:21Speaker 1: Bites out of the cookie. My dad took little raisins.
- 38:23Speaker 1: It looked like they pooped. He took big boots, huge,
- 38:26Speaker 1: huge boots stock to make it look like Santa had walked.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Carrots, carrots. We left carrots outside too for the reindeer.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Would they eat them?
- 38:38Speaker 1: Yeah, my dad would eat them.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I meant the reindeer, but she just spoiled it for
- 38:44Speaker 2: all of us.
- 38:44Speaker 1: My dad would eat them, spit them on the ground outside,
- 38:48Speaker 1: so it looked like that's so beautiful.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Is there a certain gift that you remember when you're
- 38:54Speaker 2: you were a child where you were just like floored,
- 38:56Speaker 2: Like I feel like all kids have maybe this one
- 38:58Speaker 2: special gift that's in their memory. Do you have that?
- 39:02Speaker 1: I have two of those. One was a hockey table, oh,
- 39:05Speaker 1: like a hockey air hockey table. The other one was
- 39:10Speaker 1: I wanted this baby doll crib from Fao Schwartz that
- 39:14Speaker 1: I got, and I was just so beside myself. I
- 39:17Speaker 1: was like over the moon that I got it. Really,
- 39:19Speaker 1: those two things I remember. I did start to question
- 39:22Speaker 1: Santa when one year I asked for a hummer, like
- 39:27Speaker 1: a hummer car, Yeah, like the big things they drive,
- 39:30Speaker 1: like the real not like like a hummer.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Okay, no, I didn't get it.
- 39:37Speaker 1: How old were you? She's like twelve second great because
- 39:41Speaker 1: my friend's brother got a hummer.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was like, I want Santa come through,
- 39:50Speaker 2: like I was every little box.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I was like there's cues in there, but stop. And
- 39:54Speaker 1: you were a dad. I was like, he's not going
- 39:56Speaker 1: to breathe a seven year old car. And I was like,
- 39:59Speaker 1: that makes sense.
- 40:00Speaker 3: You're right.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Oh my, that's the funniest thing ever. Little seven year
- 40:05Speaker 2: old Lalla like, I know there's a hummer somewhere.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Right, because Sanna is real and if you want a hummer,
- 40:11Speaker 1: then you can get one. Oh my god, what are
- 40:14Speaker 1: your holiday traditions? Holiday? You have a lot of siblings?
- 40:18Speaker 2: Die there's four four siblings, Well, there's five of us.
- 40:22Speaker 2: My oldest brother is thirty three. Oh god, Jason, I'm sorry,
- 40:28Speaker 2: thirty three or thirty five?
- 40:29Speaker 1: That's your oldest brother.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Yes, and my youngest is eighteen. Mister Bobb's Danny, love
- 40:35Speaker 2: him to death, love him. But so yeah, huge family.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I come from a very religious family, but I am
- 40:46Speaker 2: love them because they're very open. Like I have the
- 40:49Speaker 2: most fabulous little brother in the world. He wouldn't mind
- 40:53Speaker 2: me saying this. He came out to my family like
- 40:55Speaker 2: last year, and he's just My family's very accepting. I
- 40:58Speaker 2: feel like when I say really, it just people are like, oh,
- 41:01Speaker 2: you know, a little maybe turned off. Yeah, they're amazing,
- 41:04Speaker 2: they're very accepting, wonderful. But I say that to say
- 41:08Speaker 2: we go to Christmas Mass, that's just a tradition. Okay,
- 41:11Speaker 2: So it used to be midnight Mass until I started
- 41:14Speaker 2: falling asleep and snoring so loud that it would embarrass
- 41:17Speaker 2: my whole family, and they're like, we're not doing this.
- 41:19Speaker 2: No more midnight Mass. So it's like either Christmas Eve
- 41:23Speaker 2: at like five pm or we'll go to Christmas Morning Mass.
- 41:26Speaker 2: It's cute, it's beautiful.
- 41:27Speaker 1: I love it.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really sweet. So that's a tradition. The when
- 41:33Speaker 2: we would wake up. My siblings and I would wake
- 41:36Speaker 2: up at like three am. But there was yeah, there
- 41:38Speaker 2: was a rule. My parents were like, nothing, do not
- 41:41Speaker 2: wake us up before six am. We know Santa came.
- 41:44Speaker 2: They would my parents now I know, they would stay
- 41:47Speaker 2: up Christmas Eve and drink together and wrap all the gifts.
- 41:50Speaker 1: That's that nice.
- 41:52Speaker 2: They would just get it was like there. When we
- 41:54Speaker 2: were older, we found out. My mom and dad were
- 41:56Speaker 2: like it was the most fun because we would just
- 41:58Speaker 2: have all this wine and it'd be us and we'd
- 42:00Speaker 2: be wrapping the gifts terribly by the end. It was
- 42:03Speaker 2: just like but anyways.
- 42:04Speaker 1: So I wish the listeners could see my face, because.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Yeah, so great.
- 42:10Speaker 2: So they would have just gone to bed at like
- 42:12Speaker 2: one to two thirty and we would have got gotten
- 42:15Speaker 2: up around three three thirty. We weren't allowed to wake
- 42:17Speaker 2: them up until six. We would six am. Yeah, they
- 42:20Speaker 2: would like, oh hell no, they were tired all day
- 42:24Speaker 2: and we were always just like, you know, that was
- 42:25Speaker 2: just but you know, my mom would make a big
- 42:28Speaker 2: Christmas breakfast. We'd wake up, my dad would come out.
- 42:32Speaker 2: We'd have to wait for my mom to make our coffee,
- 42:34Speaker 2: put on the Christmas music, light candles, and then my
- 42:38Speaker 2: dad would hand out gifts one by one. So we'd
- 42:40Speaker 2: be like to Jessica from Santa to Jason, and we'd
- 42:43Speaker 2: have to watch everyone and like be excited for them.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, so there was a learning experience there was Wow,
- 42:49Speaker 1: be happy for others.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Yeah, patients exactly, and I love that, appreciate it. But yeah,
- 42:55Speaker 2: that was our thing. I'm going home for Christmas this
- 42:58Speaker 2: year for them, perst because it's.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Going to be snowy there, huh. I hope.
- 43:02Speaker 2: So the past few years of State New York, you guys,
- 43:05Speaker 2: it hasn't been snowy on Christmas. But going home this
- 43:09Speaker 2: year for actual Christmas for the first time in like
- 43:12Speaker 2: years no way, Yeah, it's been like four years.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Wow.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm really excited. I'm going with Kyle and
- 43:20Speaker 2: we just yeah, we spend Christmas Day at my grandma's
- 43:26Speaker 2: and you know, this year she's had some health problems,
- 43:29Speaker 2: so it's just so important that we spend it with her. Yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 2: and it's going to be really sweet and yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So then where did you usually spend Christmas?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Christmas went? Oh, so if you didn't go home the
- 43:39Speaker 2: past four years, Like last year, I spent it with Kyle.
- 43:42Speaker 2: It was just the two of us. We went where
- 43:45Speaker 2: did we We just spent it here. We woke up together,
- 43:48Speaker 2: open presence the year before, same thing. So I would
- 43:52Speaker 2: spend actual I've been with Kyle for like five years,
- 43:55Speaker 2: so we would spend actual Christmas together, but then I
- 43:58Speaker 2: would go home like a week later, and he would
- 44:00Speaker 2: go either to his moms or his dadsy. So we
- 44:03Speaker 2: would do that and we like buy presents for each other,
- 44:05Speaker 2: wrap them, do all that, and then we would go
- 44:10Speaker 2: home later. So I would always be home for quote
- 44:12Speaker 2: unquote Christmas, but maybe not until January or something. This
- 44:16Speaker 2: is like waking up with the family. Haven't done it
- 44:19Speaker 2: in a couple of years. It's been like four years.
- 44:23Speaker 1: You know. I was always hoping that my Christmas traditions
- 44:28Speaker 1: would carry on through like when I have kids and
- 44:32Speaker 1: all of that, But I don't have a huge family,
- 44:36Speaker 1: Like my immediate family is not big. Yeah, you know
- 44:39Speaker 1: I have Easton since not married, doesn't have kids. We
- 44:43Speaker 1: lost my dad. My older brother is from a different mama,
- 44:46Speaker 1: so he kind of goes and does his thing over there.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And you know, I've lived in LA for eight years. Yeah,
- 44:51Speaker 1: and I haven't been home for Christmas and probably around
- 44:54Speaker 1: the same amount of time that around five years. How
- 44:58Speaker 1: well its been since I've gone home for Christmas? How
- 45:01Speaker 1: do you feel about that? I hate it. Yeah, you know,
- 45:05Speaker 1: I'm not from LA. I love it here, but like
- 45:07Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like Christmas. Yeah, work outsides freaking sunny. Yeah,
- 45:13Speaker 1: they like try to make it Christmas by throwing up lights,
- 45:16Speaker 1: but it's.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Like yeah no, yeah, and like fake snow that smells
- 45:20Speaker 2: like soap. So I think it's soap. I think I'm
- 45:23Speaker 2: pretty sure it's soap.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Well, it's like Christmas lights don't belong in a palm.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Tree, I know, I know. The funniest to me is
- 45:30Speaker 2: the palm trees that have the bigger tops. Yeah, so
- 45:33Speaker 2: the Christmas and the bigger bottoms and then the thinner
- 45:38Speaker 2: middle so it looks like just a big giant lit penis.
- 45:42Speaker 2: And then they don't light like the palms. It's just
- 45:45Speaker 2: the trunk. Great, it's amazing.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Love me.
- 45:48Speaker 2: But it snows in Utah, correct, Yes? So have you
- 45:53Speaker 2: had every Every Christmas in Utah is probably snowy, and.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Every Christmas if it's not actually snowing, there is snow
- 46:02Speaker 1: on the ground.
- 46:03Speaker 2: So it's cold.
- 46:03Speaker 1: It's cold.
- 46:04Speaker 2: So that okay, So I feel you there because to me,
- 46:06Speaker 2: Christmas needs to be cold.
- 46:08Speaker 1: I agree. Yeah, it's cold in La right now. But
- 46:11Speaker 1: the sun is out shine in a way. It is
- 46:15Speaker 1: blue skies, palm trees everywhere in sight.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Do you think are you planning on maybe so your
- 46:21Speaker 2: ideal Christmas would be spent in Utah? Is that fair
- 46:24Speaker 2: to say? Yeah?
- 46:24Speaker 1: I think in the future, if able, I will go
- 46:27Speaker 1: home for Christmas.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. But this year, what are you going to
- 46:31Speaker 2: do this year?
- 46:34Speaker 1: My mom is here, Easton's gonna come out yay. My
- 46:39Speaker 1: older brother and his wife and their two kids are
- 46:41Speaker 1: going to come out after Christmas, Okay, which will be great.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I'm super excited for them to come. Hopefully they spend
- 46:48Speaker 1: New Year's here, and I just want it to be
- 46:52Speaker 1: focused on Ocean. Yeah, you know, like I told my family,
- 46:59Speaker 1: no gift, right, I don't want anything. I don't need anything.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I don't want to get you guys anything.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Yeah, like no this year. Oh my god, just chill.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I know that sounds rude, but it's like I just
- 47:15Speaker 1: need to remember the importance of things, and like the
- 47:18Speaker 1: importance of things is actually not the things. Yes, you know,
- 47:21Speaker 1: I got Ocean a bunch of stuff. She's the priority.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Everything under the tree will be for her. Everything else
- 47:29Speaker 1: we're giving each other experiences.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that. Are there any you may have
- 47:35Speaker 2: not thought about this yet, any traditions you're like, I
- 47:38Speaker 2: want to start that, any new traditions that you're like,
- 47:41Speaker 2: I want to do this, or I want to start
- 47:44Speaker 2: this with Ocean.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I want her to spend Christmas in Utah. You know,
- 47:52Speaker 1: I want to do the things that I grew up doing. Okay,
- 47:55Speaker 1: you know, I want to take her up to Park City.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I want to do this sledding and the two being
- 47:59Speaker 1: and I want to get the hot chocolate. And I
- 48:01Speaker 1: want her to be with you know, my friends that
- 48:03Speaker 1: I grew up with, they now have kids. I want
- 48:04Speaker 1: her to be around them. That's really there's like no
- 48:10Speaker 1: one specific thing that I want to do every year
- 48:14Speaker 1: on Christmas with her. However, I want to surround her
- 48:18Speaker 1: with the same people, like every year we go with
- 48:21Speaker 1: this family.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yes, and something different to look forward
- 48:26Speaker 2: to exactly. Oh that's really sweet. That's really And she's
- 48:30Speaker 2: never gone I mean, oh my god, she's never seen snow.
- 48:33Speaker 1: No, she's never seen snow. All.
- 48:36Speaker 2: The first time she sees snow as gonna.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Be so cute. I am so excited. She already has
- 48:40Speaker 1: a snowsuit and sledding. I know all of it. I'm
- 48:44Speaker 1: telling you, Like I remember going to my junior high
- 48:48Speaker 1: that had this big hill. We would go with all
- 48:50Speaker 1: of my cousins, get all cozy, go sledding over there.
- 48:55Speaker 1: It's just, you know, I'm missing that. I'm not from
- 48:59Speaker 1: a but I'm from a small city. I'm missing that
- 49:02Speaker 1: small city vibe.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Yes, Like out in La right now, it gets dark.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Don't go outside, that's true. Don't go outside. Yeah, doesn't
- 49:13Speaker 1: even matter where you live. Do not go outside when
- 49:16Speaker 1: the sun goes down, that's true. Unfortunately I did not
- 49:19Speaker 1: grow up that way.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 49:20Speaker 1: No, no walking everywhere. Yeah, calling your friends from the Landline.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Being like, let's walk over to Eastwood Elementary and sled
- 49:30Speaker 2: you know, yeah, did you have an ice skating town?
- 49:34Speaker 2: Did you or city? Did you guys go ice skating?
- 49:36Speaker 2: Or is that not a thing?
- 49:37Speaker 1: Jessica? What you are out of your damn mind if
- 49:39Speaker 1: you think that. I am strapping razor blades to my
- 49:43Speaker 1: feet and just like going on my merry way. Same
- 49:47Speaker 1: with skiing. Everyone asks, are you you must be a
- 49:49Speaker 1: scarier from Utah. It's like, what part of strapping like
- 49:54Speaker 1: a device to your feet and flying down a hill
- 49:58Speaker 1: sounds safe?
- 50:00Speaker 2: Know what's crazy?
- 50:01Speaker 1: Lalla?
- 50:02Speaker 2: I want to witness you trying this. I think you'd
- 50:04Speaker 2: be an insane snowboarder. And I'm not kidding.
- 50:06Speaker 1: That terrifies me.
- 50:07Speaker 2: No, I've met snow boarders. I see the good ones.
- 50:11Speaker 2: I could see you being such a good snowboarder.
- 50:13Speaker 1: I used to have zero fear, yeah, and now I'm
- 50:17Speaker 1: just I'm like, if I do that, I could break
- 50:19Speaker 1: a leg, I could chip a tooth. Yeah, I could die.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I don't need to do it, that's true. I don't
- 50:25Speaker 1: know what happened to me.
- 50:26Speaker 2: But you sled.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Sitting down, Yeah, and you can bail easier, nothing strapped
- 50:33Speaker 1: to my body.
- 50:34Speaker 2: You know that is I thought for sure you'd be
- 50:37Speaker 2: like Jessica, you're out of your damn mind. If you
- 50:39Speaker 2: don't think, If you don't think, I go.
- 50:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 50:42Speaker 2: I'm skating every day.
- 50:45Speaker 1: No, no, I want no part of it. My dad
- 50:49Speaker 1: took me night skiing in the seventh grade and I
- 50:53Speaker 1: had to be rescued. Stop.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Did you really?
- 50:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to what happened? What my dad was
- 51:01Speaker 1: so cute? Why he put one of my skis on
- 51:04Speaker 1: his shoulder and then I took the other one off
- 51:07Speaker 1: and I sat on it and I went and you went. Yeah.
- 51:10Speaker 1: The snowmobile person came to rescue me, and my dad
- 51:13Speaker 1: was like, she's fine.
- 51:15Speaker 2: You know what, Lala, Now that you're putting this into
- 51:17Speaker 2: the universe, I hate to tell you. You might have an
- 51:22Speaker 2: ocean who loves it, who is like, mom, take me.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Skiing, take oh, but I won't do anything for her
- 51:28Speaker 1: if she's but Mama may be stuck on the bunny
- 51:30Speaker 1: bill for a little longer. Then you might think that's
- 51:34Speaker 1: hilarious and Lisa, Mama, Lisa great at it? Really? Oh yeah,
- 51:39Speaker 1: flying down the hill. My uncle who lives in Montana
- 51:42Speaker 1: fights fires. Yeah, black Diamond, What the hell?
- 51:48Speaker 2: What about Easton? Is it just the kids?
- 51:50Speaker 1: I don't know. Easton's extremely talented at everything. Yeah. Yeah,
- 51:55Speaker 1: you know, like I could see that.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I could see him being a snowboarder.
- 51:57Speaker 1: He loves snowboarding.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, interesting.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm more of a lodger. Lodger.
- 52:06Speaker 2: The lodge is nice, though, that's the best. But I
- 52:08Speaker 2: love like the getting the exercise first and then you're
- 52:11Speaker 2: exhausted and then you just like lodge it up with
- 52:14Speaker 2: hot cocoa and the fire.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Yeah. But when I was drinking, I was exhausted from
- 52:18Speaker 1: the drinking. So I was like, I was just as
- 52:20Speaker 1: tired as everyone else. Yeah. Yeah, they've been skiing. I've
- 52:24Speaker 1: been drinking. Time for a nap, you know. I love it.
- 52:28Speaker 1: But I always did like the thought of skiing. Yeah,
- 52:31Speaker 1: the thought, Yeah, thought of skiing sounded awesome. Yeah. And
- 52:34Speaker 1: when I would see people and they'd come in and
- 52:36Speaker 1: they were, you know, clonking around in their boots coming
- 52:38Speaker 1: in for lunch, I'm like, oh, that does look fun.
- 52:41Speaker 2: But still not doing it.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Still not doing it because there you could die.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Yeah you could.
- 52:48Speaker 1: It's a small chance, but it's not a chance I'm
- 52:51Speaker 1: willing to take.
- 52:52Speaker 2: And do you really want to go like that doing
- 52:55Speaker 2: something You're not crazy? If you were crazy passionate about it,
- 52:58Speaker 2: I'd be like, take the chance if you love it.
- 53:00Speaker 2: But if you're not passionate about it.
- 53:02Speaker 1: No, No, it's not the way I am going out.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Are you crazy?
- 53:07Speaker 2: No? Have you ever went skydiving?
- 53:10Speaker 1: No? But I want to you do? Yeah?
- 53:12Speaker 2: Okay, so she wants to go skydiving.
- 53:14Speaker 1: But she makes us no sense, it makes zero sense.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I've gone twice. I'll go with you if you want
- 53:20Speaker 2: to go.
- 53:21Speaker 1: And what's weird is I said if something strapped to me,
- 53:24Speaker 1: I feel unsafe. But if I were strapped to somebody
- 53:26Speaker 1: that can do.
- 53:27Speaker 2: It interesting Well. On the note of skydiving, I want
- 53:30Speaker 2: to know how you feel going into twenty twenty two.
- 53:34Speaker 2: What do you hope for your year?
- 53:36Speaker 1: Oh, what a great way to wrap up this last
- 53:39Speaker 1: episode before the new year. I hope in the new year,
- 53:44Speaker 1: I'm hoping for resolve and after that, I'm looking to
- 53:49Speaker 1: just be happy. I love that, you know, whatever that
- 53:54Speaker 1: means for me, wherever it, you know, I could be
- 53:58Speaker 1: placed to somewhere that I never thought i'd be placed
- 54:01Speaker 1: doing something I never thought i'd be doing. But if
- 54:05Speaker 1: I'm happy, then that's all I really want for this
- 54:08Speaker 1: new year. And I feel like that's going to happen
- 54:10Speaker 1: for me. I do too, you do.
- 54:13Speaker 2: I feel like twenty twenty two is going to be
- 54:15Speaker 2: your best year yet, I really do.
- 54:18Speaker 1: I'm excited for it. Yeah, what are your big plans
- 54:23Speaker 1: or your I because every time someone asks what your
- 54:26Speaker 1: new Year's resolution is, I feel like some of us
- 54:30Speaker 1: make these big plans that when we don't achieve them
- 54:35Speaker 1: in a bumber field. It's a bummer and you just
- 54:37Speaker 1: feel like, you know, it's a leaddown. Yeah, you beat
- 54:41Speaker 1: yourself up over it. Yeah, So are your resolutions big
- 54:45Speaker 1: and grand? I so are.
- 54:47Speaker 2: I'm one to make big and grand resolutions. But I
- 54:50Speaker 2: love I'm going to take from you because I feel
- 54:53Speaker 2: like it's such a peaceful feeling going into twenty twenty
- 54:56Speaker 2: two being like, I'm going to focus on being happy. So,
- 55:00Speaker 2: so that's what it's going to be. I'm going to
- 55:02Speaker 2: focus on being happy. I'm going to focus on thriving,
- 55:06Speaker 2: working my ass off because I know that we're going
- 55:09Speaker 2: to take off. You know what I'm saying, It's going
- 55:11Speaker 2: to be our year Jess thrive and thrive. But yeah,
- 55:15Speaker 2: I think happiness is key. And since meeting you and
- 55:21Speaker 2: working for you, it's really been up there. It's really
- 55:24Speaker 2: nice you guys to wake up and like look forward
- 55:26Speaker 2: to going to work every.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Day, and that makes me so happy and.
- 55:28Speaker 2: It's really nice.
- 55:30Speaker 1: It's great because with you're the first person that I've
- 55:34Speaker 1: hired personally, and there are two goals. One to make
- 55:41Speaker 1: sure that we get the job done, we excel every
- 55:45Speaker 1: single day, but also that I'm creating a healthy and
- 55:49Speaker 1: happy work environment. If I can do both of those things, yeah,
- 55:55Speaker 1: we're good. We're gonna I'm so excited to see what
- 56:00Speaker 1: that give them. Lala brand does in twenty twenty two.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Very exciting, and that's a good thing to take into
- 56:07Speaker 2: twenty twenty two. Listeners, It's not worth it because I've
- 56:10Speaker 2: been there working for someone or a company that you're
- 56:16Speaker 2: not waking up every day feeling excited about. I would
- 56:19Speaker 2: start if that's not the case, because Lala is right.
- 56:22Speaker 2: You know, you don't realize that until you do work
- 56:24Speaker 2: for someone like Lala who makes it a happy, healthy
- 56:29Speaker 2: environment and focuses on you being mentally happy and just
- 56:34Speaker 2: like all of that, so this is my little note
- 56:37Speaker 2: to you. When I started working for Lala, I realized
- 56:41Speaker 2: other toxic working situations I have been in, and it's
- 56:46Speaker 2: not worth it. Wake up being happy to go to
- 56:48Speaker 2: work if you have to start planning and plotting now
- 56:51Speaker 2: on how to get out of your current situation that
- 56:55Speaker 2: isn't making you happy and work towards something that will,
- 56:58Speaker 2: then do it because that's you deserve it for twenty
- 57:01Speaker 2: twenty two.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I love that. On that note, Jess, Yes, You're fucking amazing.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Oh I love you.
- 57:08Speaker 4: You've been such a bright light in my world and
- 57:13Speaker 4: I'm beyond grateful for you. And I know it's been
- 57:16Speaker 4: a very strange working environment the past.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Few months, and I want to thank everyone who's listened
- 57:24Speaker 1: to the podcast and sent me amazing dms. You've left
